I'm OBSESSED with the terrifying Princess Wanning and want ALL the backstory about her time as a hostage and everything she did to survive (and possibly even thrive?) in such a situation. Please, drama, give it to me! (Do I feel fic urges coming on?)

She's over-the-top and openly, gleefully cruel and sadistic in a way that female villains don't often get to be, but the actress makes her chillingly believable. The actress Li Meng oscillates so naturally between all the minute shades of her many malevolent moods and is clearly having a ball playing her. Li Meng was great in The Bad Kids and now I know I will definitely be seeking out more of her work. Suggesting two men murder each other in front of her as a job interview is exactly the kind of unhinged psychotic creativity that I appreciate about Wanning.

Every year during our marathon of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogies, there is a scene in The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring, that hits me harder every time I see it.

Now that Shadow Sorcerer is being added to bg3, I think it's time to share my funniest durgestarion headcanon. So I've been pulling from the Shadow Sorcerer quirk table for my sorcerer Durge because I just think it's funny if they're even creepier and more unsettling then the actual vampire but one of those quirks is "you don't seem to bleed, even when badly injured" which has insane comedy potential when one has a vampire bf.

Just imagine that first night when Astarion goes to bite Durge and they say yes and then Astarion can get almost nothing out of them. It's like when you suck out all the liquid from an icee and are stuck with just solid flavored ice and you keep desperately trying to suck out a little more liquid but eventually have to come to terms with the fact that you'll just have to wait for the ice to melt to drink more. That's what trying to drink from Durge is like.

Anyways, I think this little development would lead to the rest of the party waking up to Astarion throwing an absolute fit because what the fuck is wrong with the Dark Urge that they're not bleeding and he can't feed and Durge cutting into their arm with a knife with rapt fascination because they really just don't seem to bleed at all. Really takes the drama out of the Astarion vampire reveal because that at least makes sense, Astarion just radiated vampire vibes, but Durge being unable to bleed, like at all, is so much fucking weirder, especially since Durge keeps trying to cut into major arteries to see if they can draw some blood.

I just personally think it's really funny if the vampire ends up falling for the one freak that can't bleed and how much that would undercut the whole sexy vampire bite stuff. Astarion's going to be completely reduced to the scrape and lick method because he's going to be getting nothing out of Durge otherwise.

I have this bulletproof trope, y'see. It's Beauty Breaks The Beast. It's even better when Beauty is actually a morally gray little fucker. This is why I fell head over heels for Beecher and Keller, back in the day. This is why VegasPete will forever have my heart. It's also why I attached SO quickly to BostonNick - because I could see the potential for this SO clearly.

Nick looked unflinchingly at the monster in the closet and opened his arms to it. He saw every bit of Boston, and he loved him not in spite of all of it, but because of all of it. He saw value in Boston that no one else had ever bothered to see, something other than Boston's body and the ways it could be used. And as with Vegas, that unflinching, unconditional acceptance - something that Boston has probably never had in a life of trying to fulfill his father's unreasonable expectations and being valued solely for sexual pleasure - is what cracked his defenses.

Because let me tell you, I had a real bad moment at the beginning of Nick's goodbye speech in this week's ep, listening to Mark and watching Neo's face. I sat there with the kind of growing dread I haven't felt since I watched Vegas Theerapanyakul tip a bowl of noodles onto a safehouse bedroom floor, sick at my certainty that Vegas was going to get Pete down on the floor and push his face into that mess again and ruin all the delicate work that had been done. I was certain Boston was going to say something cutting and mean and awful in an attempt to push Nick away. And then the way Neo's FACE and EYES changed when Nick talked about Boston's photography, and then again when Nick said he loved Boston, just the way he is, and I could breathe again. Because like I've said before, if you don't think acceptance, finally, is enough to tear someone open, well.

If Mark and Neo don't have their pick of roles after this, I'm going to riot.
