Big announcement time!
A lot has happened and even more is about to so I’m here to catch everyone up and announce something new!
To start: Over a month ago I held the first play test in the server with Nines, Slime, Chime, and Talai. It went really well! So here’s a rough overview of what happened:
Team Twoshot was tasked with finding a missing Volbeat and disabling a minor dungeon, named the Symphonic Glen, which used to be a stage for Pokémon to share their music with each other. Loudred, with his posse of 4 Whismur, took over the stage and pokénapped the Volbeat to use as a personal spotlight with her Tailglow, which gave him a +3 to Insight making his Echoed Voice even more dangerous. Plus each Whismur had a specialty punch move; Ice, Fire, Thunder, and Mega punch. It was a tough fight but Team Twoshot managed to bring the crew down and save the Volbeat, reuniting her with her lovely partner Illumise.
Nines played Heathcliff, a scarred male Gyarados with a purple scarf, well-worn but also well-cared for. Very much willing to let loose, but surprisingly careful about his allies. Particularly the ladies.
Talai played Slasher, a female Sneasel with some piercings. She has a rough exterior and personality who secretly has a soft side.
Slime played Demeter, a somewhat dainty and matronly Roserade with a penchant for drinking tea, and a distaste for unnecessary fighting. Has unique colored roses, one red and the other purple.
Chime played Tealight, a small but fearless Litwick. He's friendly if a bit creepy, and prone to jumping straight into battle for his teammates. Totally consumed with inflicting status effects.
We found a lot of things that needed clarification thanks to the playtest, such as:
Travel Points now allow you to move up to 2 tiles per point.
Which kinds of effects still apply on partial hits, most notably Lifedrain.
Fainting has been entirely reworked, which will be addressed at a later time.
General Movement, such as you can't move diagonally through 2 hostile Pokémon.
Lots of changes to Roleplay Actions, including a new feature called the Stamina Bar.
And a lot more that we've been working on!
In other news, we've finished our Explorers of Sky playthrough and have started Gates to Infinity! Team Soy Bois, led by Boi the Riolu and Wattson the Shinx, managed to save the world (with a single punch!) and now it's time for a team; Team Gorls, staring Fraisey the Axew and Brittany B the Snivy. I've actually never played Gates (no spoilers if you join us!) so I'm excited to see what happens. We stream most every Saturday at 6pm est and we voice the characters! Anyone is welcome to join and, if you're interested, you'll have a chance to voice a character too!
Another event that is just starting is Talai's Friendlocke! We will be playing through Pokémon Insurgent as a nuzlocke where each person participating roleplays as a member of the team, choosing moves in battle and strategizing together. Can these mons parent their kidnapped orphan trainer? Join us and find out!
So, what's next? Well, simply put, more playtests! There's still a lot of mechanics that need tested before this project is finished. This time, however, I will be taking a backseat. Instead, my co-creators Nines and Slime will be DMing, each testing different parameters with very different dungeon layouts, difficulties, and more. I will still be involved, just this time I will be observing the sessions and taking notes on anything that needs worked on. Below are brief descriptions of each DMs planned playtest:
Nines' Playtest:
The Coral Cape stars a ragtag group recruited by the Cutthroats, a roving pirate band. You're tasked with scouting out the titular dungeon, reporting back with any objects of interest, and - most importantly - looting anything you can get your hands on!
This playtest places low-level characters against a variety of situations, primarily combat as well as some social scenarios.
Slime's Playtest:
Deep within the Iron-Soul Mausoleum, something has stirred, causing Steel, Rock, and Ground type Pokémon to become rowdy and dangerous. Several Explorer teams have ventured into the ancient crumbling ruin, but none have successfully cracked the puzzle and made their way into the central chamber.
This Playtest is testing the upper levels of character creation, dungeon based weather effects, as well as the maximum size of Dungeon layout.
Once the Alpha playtests are over we will be going over the entire system and reworking/finalizing as much as we can before the next stage; Beta test Oneshots. There will be a series of oneshots with the goal of giving as many players a chance to play as possible. If you are interested in being a part of the two alpha playtests or the upcoming beta oneshots please check out the Discord server.
And that's all for now! I will do my best to keep everyone posted but if you have any questions feel free to drop them in the comments and we will do our best to answer them. Thank you all for being a part of this project and for being patient while we figure out the next steps; your support truly means a great deal to me!

💙 Shinx! 🦁 (A short fic based on the sketch on the right of these artworks by artist @kaadaart)
"Woah!"
Little Philip was lying on his stomach in the bushes as he watched in wonderment a blue kitty sleeping soundly on the grass.
He found the small cat while strolling home after playing a solo game in the woods.
The kitty's fur was mostly blue, but it had black fur under its torso, along with a black tail with a pointed star on the end, oval ears, and a pink nose.
The cat was so peculiar looking.
Pip had encountered many stray cats in the past, but never one like this.
This one was different and seemed to be from another world.
As Philip continued to look at the cat, he let out a small gasp when he saw him yawn and start to stand.
He proceeds to stretch his spine as his eyes begin to open.
They were gold colored.
When they look to Philip, they immediately light up with joy. "Shinx!" The kitty cried out in happiness. "Shinx, Shinx!"
Philip gave the cat a confused look, tilting his head. "Huh? Why are you barking so much?"
"Shinx, Shinx!"
"Shinx?" The brunette showed the kitty a smile, kicking his feet while resting his hands under his chin. "Oh, I see! Is that your name, little cat?"
The kitty nods. "Shinx!"
"Cool! My name is Philip! I also go by Pip, but only my big brother is allowed to call me that."
"Shinx!"
"No, it's Philip."
"Shinx!"
Despite Shinx getting his name wrong, Philip maintained a smile towards him.
"Would you like to be friends, Shinx?" Philip asked, extending a pointer finger to scratch under Shinx's chin.
"Shinx!" Shinx shinxed.
His excited answer made Philip chuckle.
"That sounded like a yes to me!" Standing up on his feet, he signals for Shinx to follow him.
"Come on! Since you're my new friend, I'll take you home with me!"
"Shinx!"
Both blue and gold eyes were so full of excitement as Philip guided Shinx back to his house.
Once they had arrived, Philip promptly grabbed a pen and paper and began drawing a very cute picture of his new friend, who was awed by his work.
...
A question mark appeared between two coven scouts as they watched the emperor of the isles walk soberly down a hallway in his castle, as a strange blue cat happily followed behind him.
"My lord," the first scout began, grabbing the emperor's attention as he paused.
They point at the blue cat. "Are you aware that you're being followed by a cat?"
Shifting his gaze down at the mentioned cat, Belos proceeds to pick him up before removing his mask to reveal a very stern expression. "Of course I'm aware, this is my son."
With that being said, he continues down the hall, leaving both scouts still confused.

This is my OC! His name is Irvine Wright, a tired guy in his late twenties whose unfortunately weak to the whims of a certain professor. He met Friede when they were in college; it started with sharing a table at the library during exam week and slowly evolved to more casual hangouts outside of it. The short and long of it is that they started dating during their final year of college. After they graduated, Friede formed the Rising Volt Tacklers and invited him to join. Irvine couldn't say no to him.
On the Brave Asagi, he's their go to guy for all things history related. If their job involved having to go through books and old tomes for potential information, he'd spend hours sifting through them and compiling everything neatly that the crew could understand. He rarely shows his face outside of meal and chore times, though occasionally he would join Friede in scouting out an area.
He has a shiny Luxray who still thinks he's a small Shinx, thus subjecting him to tackle hugs. He also has an Espeon and Skitty that act as support in battles. He flies around on his Braviary whenever he joins Friede in scouting (if they took a bit more time in getting back, well who could blame them?)
Their relationship is known to the crew, though Liko and Roy might take some time to figure it out seeing that Irvine's not much for PDA. Behind closed doors or when they have some privacy to themselves, he's happy to give Friede all the physical affection he wants.
#Pokemon Horizons#Pokemon OC#Professor Friede#OC: Irvine Wright#Fanart#Hana speaks#I'm cringe but I'm free#Burnet is there bc of a rp thing I have with a friend where Friede and Burnet are siblings!#So Irvine's always wary when the chaotic duo flash those smiles at him haha

Dealer's choice: 🛏️ 🎨 🎒📚 🐹 🪨
wah thank you ;w;
🛏️ What does your OC’s bed look like? What would they like their bed to look like?
Jodie has a rattan headrest with a floral duvet and a framed Echo & the Bunnymen poster hung above it. Her bed is almost never made. She'd prefer an imposing black canopy bed for the drama.
🎨 Does your OC have any craft skill, as a hobby or profession? If so which?
Avi was an Eagle Scout as a teen and is quite skilled at woodworking/carpentry. He doesn't get much of an opportunity to indulge in it since he's always on the road for wrestling, but he gets stoked to make something or help with a renovation project when he can.
🎒 If your OC had to pick three things of all their belongings to keep, which would they chose?
Mitch would keep his childhood stuffed rabbit, the guitar gifted to him by his uncle, and the ancient grey workshirt that he stole from his first crush like some 15 years back (much to Avi's chagrin).
📚 Your OC has to improvise a 10 minute lecture about a topic of their choosing. What do they chose?
Jodie's going to go on -IN GRAPHIC DETAIL- about the most unsettling horror films. For more than 10 minutes. She's going to need to be removed from the stage.
🐹 Which would be your OCs favorite Pokemon? What kind of trainer would they be?
Avi's favorite Pokemon is Shinx, and he'd be an Ace Trainer.
🪨 Someone gifts your OC a shiny rock. What do they do with it?
Mitch is going to research what kind of rock this is. He's going to dive into a rabbit hole about geology. He's going to emerge an hour later and look for an opening in any nearby conversation to discuss his findings. Please someone let him talk about this or he is going to implode.

Pokemon Violet Team Archive 2
My second playthrough. I foolishly did Kitakami as soon as possible, using levels of my opponents to know when to change regions, and got the exp charm way to early. I then waited for Blueberry Academy and the epilogue before finishing up.
My starter Pokemon was the mystery gift Mew. Very strong early on and great throughout the game, her balanced stats and great move pool was great.
My second Pokemon Doflamigo, a high level Shiny Flamigo I found while scouting out the map and luckily caught in a quick ball. By substituting in a wild low level one for the early game, I found out first hand why speed runners love it as it is busted early game, only really falling off in Blueberry Academy where double battles really didn’t do its frailty any favors.
My third Pokemon, a Shinx Toxtricity I found early on a Toxel. In contrast to Doflamigo, Toxel is as terrible early on and did poorly until evolving at level 30 where it became a fast powerful attacker. Has a normal Terra to use Boomburst, which in the post fame was far more often used to evade super effective hits. Technicia was frail but hit hard, and I was extremely lucky to get two shinies early on for my in game team.
My fourth mon, a Flapple caught as an Applin early on in Kitakami and evolved post 30, he was similar to Technicia this way. He hit hard and relatively fast, although by Blueberry he was being outspeed and OHKOer by a lot of Pokemon. He was high risk high reward, as being able to set up a Dragon Dance and get berry boosts twice could go very well or he could be OHKOed and was walled by ice types. His terra poison was used defensively, and while thematic it was a suboptimal typing.
My fifth pokemon, Earthbound the Titan Orthworm caught at expect level time. I picked him as I wanted the largest possible Orthworm, having been impressed by the Titan in my first playthroug He was bulky, and well served by a quick claw and body press. He was a great switch in to protect Technicia with Earth Eater, and Iron Tail was used far more frequently that expected. He was given Terra Earth for thematic reasons, but rarely used it. He was solid, dependable and useful all game.
Landlubber, a Cetitan caught at the usual time one would encounter a Cettodle (lvl 36), and given Terra Water for thematic reasons. He was reasonably fast, decently bulky and hit hard. He was a good lure for fire types, by going water and hitting them with liquidation. He was a solid choice and basically a physical counterpart to my starter with shared ice-ground coverage, making them both great dragonslayers.

here comes the massive pokemon rant 🥰🥰
Luxray, the final form of Shinx and the evolution of Luxio, is an electric type pokémon introduced in generation 4. It's a feline like pokemon, resembling a lion or a lynx. Its body is mostly covered with black fur, with its legs, torso and face being blue. The inside of its ears, the strips on his hind legs, its eyes and the star shaped tip of his tail are all yellow. In the shiny form, the blue becomes yellow and the yellow becomes orange. This pokémon also displays differences between the male and the female, as the females have a smaller mane than its male counterparts.
According to the pokedex, Luxray has powerful vision. It has the capability of seeing through things, an ability it often uses to find prey, scout for danger and find its lost offspring. One of its most important appearances in the Pokemon anime was in Pokemon XY and XYZ, where Clemont, one of Ash’s companions, catches a Luxio he knew as a child, back when it was a Shinx, who had helped him with one of his most important inventions. The pokemon was shown to be loyal, caring and stoic, traits it kept after evolving in a later episode.
Though many trainers had Luxray or one of its evolutions on their team, the most well known user would be Volkner, generation 4’s electric type gym leader, who had one in the majority of his teams.
When we first look at its stats, Luxray seems to be a pretty decent pokemon, with decent defenses and HP (79 and 80), high attack (120) and nice special attack (95). Unfortunately, its lowest stat is speed (70), making it slower than many other threats on every metagame. Its flaws don't end here, as it also has a rather underwhelming movepool.
Luxray is a physical electric type, a type known for not having many physical attacks, the ones available often being locked behind being signature/exclusive moves. It has three physical STAB options, Spark, a 65 base power move with a 30% chance to paralyze, Thunder Fang, a 65 base power move with a 10% chance to paralyze and a 10% chance to make the opponent flinch and Wild Charge, a 90 base power move with recoil. The rest of its most often used moves aren't too special: Superpower, a fighting type move with the downside of lowering defense and attack, one of the biting moves (Fire Fang, Ice Fang and Crunch) for coverage, Volt Switch, used to gain momento, facade, a normal type move that doubles power when the pokemon is afflicted with a status condition, which works beautifully with its hidden ability Guts, which doubles the pokemon’s attack stat if the same conditions are met. This can be easily enabled with items like the Flame Orb.
Speaking of abilities, Luxray has three. The first one, and arguably the worst, is Rivalry, an ability which causes the pokemon to deal more damage to opponents of the same gender, but less damage to opponents of the opposite gender, having no effect on genderless opponents. The second is Intimidate, an ability that lowers the opponent’s attack stat by one upon entering battle, great as a defensive tool against physical threats and to hinder opponents. Finally, as I explained before, its hidden ability is Guts. It’s generally seen as the best option for an offensive Luxray, boosting his already good attack stat and working beautifully with Facade.
Unfortunately, Luxray’s flaws tend to outweigh its strengths, therefore it has a pretty much non-existent presence in the competitive scene and, according to Smogon, it has been ranked in Untiered since gen 6, having been NU in its debut generation and PU in the next one. I spent a lot of time brainstorming about ways to make this pokemon better. Maybe switching its stats around (switching its Special Attack and its Speed), maybe giving it a well deserved stat boost (again, increasing its speed, as that ends up being the biggest problem) or just introducing new moves to its movepool, alongside a new, better STAB and more powerful and/or useful moves (stat boosting moves and healing).
We can certainly say that Luxray and its pre-evolutions are fan favorites, especially to fans who played the gen 4 games of Diamond, Pearl and Platinum. From the cute design of its baby form, to the cool, sleek design of the final form, many trainers have come to love and appreciate this amazing pokemon despite its flaws. I myself had a Luxray on my very first pokemon playthrough and it carried my team alongside my starter pokemon, to this day I remember fondly using it in difficult battles. Back then, it was a strong, amazing pokemon. Today, even after seeing its flaws and lack of competitive usage, I still believe it to be a good pokemon. Maybe one day I'll create a team revolving around it, one where it can truly shine and show its full potential. After all, the best trainers use the pokemon they love.

to teams ion and sunrise, what's your voice type (SATB)? more importantly, could i make a whole choir out of just both teams?
Scout: “I believe I’m about an Alto?”
Rai: “I have a soft voice, check out the Explorers anime special for the shinx I’m based on. Um... I think Alto.”
Mane: “I have the deepest voice of the three, maybe Tenor.”
Sean: “I have a similar voice to Scout, somewhere between Scout and Mane, probably closer to Tenor.”
Striker: “Bass, obviously.” When he’s trying, otherwise a deeper Tenor.
Saniya: “Soprano, of course tee hee.”
Guardian: “I have the actual deepest voice, definitely Bass.”
