Meet the Experiment group, aka the Hot Lunch Bunch
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the Control group, who are also technically receiving a hot lunch but it's not quite as hot I guess.
I've taken initial measurements for all participants and logged baseline weight and length, and the majority of these kiddos have already started eating their meals!
An early pitfall: my hypothesis that cooked prey would be more readily accepted seems to have been correct. A few of the Control group haven't taken meals yet while all of the Experiment group are taking meals with gusto.
If the Control kiddos don't get with the program they're going to skew my data. >:(

I was bored so I was bored so I decided to learn more about chemistry, specifically nitration.
At this point, I'm probably on a watch list if I wasn't already. But at least now I understand how to turn fertilizer into explosives, so that's pretty cool.

Having thoughts about God
I remembered a moment in The Prince of Egypt where I had a passing thought that their depiction of God looked like a nebula
And that sparked something
God is the personification of the universe itself. He is everything and nothing, he is every molecule and atom and the space in between, He is the nebulae and He is the stars in the night sky, He is the black holes and stardust
And He is us
I use ‘He’ to respect the religion and for simplicity’s sake, but I believe He would be beyond our binaries because He is everything (and nothing)
I think God would be a truly neutral, beautiful force. A burning hot energy constantly expanding and simultaneously dying
And He created us to experience us
Not on purpose
He didn’t mold us from stray particles of carbon and hydrogen and the atoms of our cells
Because He is us, He crawled and fought for every inch of life so that He could live, and we are now here to witness Him, because just as He is the stardust we are made of, He is the earth beneath our feet and the air we breathe
I am not a religious person, I consider myself an atheist, but combining science and God is a beautiful concept to me
God is a force beyond us, and we exist because we can, everything exists because it simply could— no divine purpose other than what we carve out in our little space we call home

I had a professor say to me in grad school, "Taylor, you always make people laugh when you present or teach." To which I say, "That's always my goal! Why wouldn't it be your goal when getting to talk to a bunch of new friends about science?! It's fun! Let's enjoy it." I think life is just more enjoyable this way.

Lighters are such a bharii invention (I cannot think of a better english word for this fascinating? Extremely cool?) Like I have a device which can conjur fire anytime anywhere by just a click? And like it will not vanish quickly and still be there for a long time?? Like I literally have a tiny flame thrower with me??? That can and will burn everything down?!?
I bet the stone age people who discovered fire would love thiss(and by love I mean they will be like wtf wtfff what the actual fuck!? In their language)

So as a fan of wacky science, I’ve recently been torturing my transmasc hubby with detailed knowledge of The Meat Grape ™️.
Today when enthusing about the use of pairing stem cells with scaffolding to create rejection proof body parts and the exciting potential for this technique to be applied in bottom surgery, my forlorn partner claimed I’d ruined their view point on this topic by haunting them with the delightfully uncanny marvel that is The Meat Grape 🥩🍇 ™️ .
To which I in my infinite bisexual wisdom said, “What testicles if not Meat Grape?”
Now they’re starting at the wall occasionally shivering, I’ve engineered a new form of dysphoria.
🥩🍇🍆

Rocket Boys (2022-)
🎬The story of two extraordinary men, Homi Jehangir Bhabha and Vikram Ambalal Sarabhai, who created history while building India's future.
📝This is the review of season 2 (no spoilers) and it's such a phenomenal and beautifully shot series and if you like shows about scientists, contemporary history, and physics and real life stories of great minds then this is a must watch. If you enjoyed the 'Manhattan' series about the creation of the atom bomb, this will be right up your alley. At the moment it is available on SonyLiv (subscription) and comes with English subtitles, but I hope they will show it on Netflix so it can reach a wider audience. It's really a very good show and I highly recommend it.
The entire cast is excellent but Jim Sais truly exceptional. He is truly a versatile actor.

i love this sm
With NASA announcing their streaming service NASA+ and also announcing it’s going to be free and also ad free, I’d just like to appreciate the lengths they go to make scientific knowledge and exploration as available as they possibly can.
