Do you love the intimate relationship between a mech and its pilot? Do you love quick, punchy, high emotion roleplay? Do you love the deep eroticism of being with someone while they bleed out?
If you answered yes to any of these questions then I have the 2 player ttrpg for you!
Tumblr media
Goodbye, World </3 is a game of lasts words between a dying mech and its pilot. One player will play the dying mech and the other will play its pilot. The pilot speaks over voice chat while the mech may only type. The mech only has a limited number of messages they can send before they "bleed out" and the game ends.
The whole game fits on 2 sides of a4 folded in half and each playthrough gives a short but really impactful death scene. It has made multiple of my playtesters cry.
So if this sounds like your thing, check it out on itch here!

Luke Skywalker is dead and the Empire has it's grip deep in the galaxy. All hope seems lost with Yavin having been destroyed by the Death Star. The rebellion has regrouped in the years that have passed since Yavin and is looking for the perfect time to strike back while the force users who have been in hiding meet in secret to hone their skills.

Discover the Thrilling World of Within the Cosmos
Tumblr media
Within the Cosmos single-player first person sci-fi RPG game has hope for Linux with Windows PC. All credit goes to the creative genius of Debdev, the developer behind it all. Due to make its way onto Steam next month. Get ready to dive into the sci-fi world of Within the Cosmos, a new single-player first-person RPG from indie developer Debdev, due to launch on October 4th, 2024. Imagine waking up in a distant star system, only to find humanity on the brink of collapse, battling not just each other but also a rising threat from androids. It's a game packed with choices that truly matter, set in a universe that's as rich in detail as it is in danger.
Regarding Linux support, it's definitely something I'm interested in adding. However, it will be something I'll have to look into after the initial release.
Here's what Debdev shared in their email: Within the Cosmos is being developed using Unreal Engine 4. So there's hope for a native Linux build down the road. It sounds like this might depend on how well the game sells. This could also mean a native Linux version for the Steam Deck, though Proton support is another possibility. I’m holding out for the release — I'm really intrigued to see how it turns out.
Within the Cosmos - Gameplay Trailer
youtube
In the year 2278, Earth is a mess, and you’re one of the lucky (or maybe unlucky) 500 members of the United Earth Space Agency (UESA) sent to the far-off Adallio star system. While being in cryo-sleep for generations, you wake up to find things are far from peaceful. Humanity’s survivors have split into factions, each with its own ideas on how to survive and thrive. Oh, and there’s also a deadly android menace that's threatening to wipe out the remaining civilization. As you navigate this divided Within the Cosmos world, the choices you make will shape the future of humanity. Will you bring people together or drive them further apart? Can you uncover the truth about the android threat, or will you fall victim to it?
Here’s what you can look forward to:
Create Your Character: Fully customize your character’s look, skills, and background. You’re not just playing a character in Within the Cosmos — you’re playing your character.
Skill System: There are 11 different skills you can level up, from hacking to intimidation, allowing for all kinds of playstyles. Whether you want to talk your way out of trouble or hack your way in, the choice is yours.
Hacking: Speaking of hacking, it’s not just a gimmick. Use your skills to manipulate the environment, gather important intel, and turn the odds in your favor.
Neural Interface Mods (NIMs): These mods give you special abilities like Cloak and Time Dilation. While adding another layer of strategy to both combat and exploration.
Factions: Get involved with different factions, each with its own goals and beliefs. Will you ally with them, betray them, or take them out entirely? Your actions will have real outocmes.
Exploration: The Adallio star system is yours to explore, with hand-crafted planets and settings full of secrets, missions, and unique challenges.
Meaningful Choices: Every choice counts in Within the Cosmos</em. From dialogue to how you approach your missions, your decisions will shape the game’s ending.
Weapon Customization: Tailor your arsenal to suit your style. Whether you like to go in guns blazing or prefer a more tactical approach, you can upgrade and personalize your weapons to do the job.
A Labor of Love
Within the Cosmos has been a long time coming. Debdev, the creator, has spent nearly a decade bringing this game to life. Inspired by the moral dilemmas in Star Trek and the deep gameplay of Deus Ex and Fallout. Debdev set out to create a sci-fi RPG where every choice matters. Despite financial hurdles, the passion for this project has never wavered. So now it’s finally ready to share with the world. If you’re into sci-fi adventures where your decisions really make a difference, keep an eye out for Within the Cosmos on Steam. There is still hope for native Linux support as well as Proton, with Windows PC.

Attack of the Space Vampire for our Death in Space campaign
Ye Olde 7th Sea Posse were playing Death in Space, going through the Mothership adventure, Haunting of Yspilon XIV, and one of the characters mentioned a Space Vampire. So, I quickly wrassled up a pic of the beat-up softcover that had been making its way around our ship’s crew. I like the idea that tattered paperbacks are still out there in the science fiction void, stories being passed hand to…

Violet Core - High Speed Sapphic Mecha TTRPG
After a long time of working on the game on-and-off, it's finally crash landed on Kickstarter!
Tumblr media
Violet Core is a sapphic focused ttrpg about sad space lesbians dueling each other and making out while stranded in space. Drawing inspiration from the absolutely wonderful visual novel Heaven Will Be Mine as well as GunBuster, Zone of the Enders and Knights of Sidonia. It focuses the dramatic tension between friends, rivals and comrades. It's a game whose beating heart is deeply lesbian in a way that is a touch tricky to put into words...its indelibly infused. It's a game preoccupied with a looming horizon of destruction and what we do in the face of calamity.

Wish me luck! And if it looks cool and/or sweet to you, please share it around! My platform is tiny and sucks unlike the game which is huge and rad.
(edit...omg the tags. I'm blown away TT u TT my heart is doing a thing)

Order born from the wrath of chaos
Chicago Illinois, a city rebuilt and protected by PRIME. It is an organization tasked with policing both the Conduit species itself and maintaining the peace between it and mankind. Having bought out the privatized contract for law enforcement throughout all of Chicago; they have kept the peace within the city. Well, for the most part. The Mavericks, a group that has seen PRIME's methods and control have begun to rebel against the organization. They Are willing to do anything to maintain their freedom and remove PRIME from the city. They are not alone, however, and when motivations within the city collide; everyone has to pick a side, even if its the wrong one.
CHAOS WILL ALWAYS TRIUMPH OVER ORDER
SEQUENCE is a mutant/abilities roleplay site revamping and coming back after years of hibernation. This group contains mature themes and is rated as such. We accept OCs and Skeleton Canon characters. We focus on our members enjoying themselves, having a great place to plot, post and enjoy themselves without the worries taking place outside this group’s community. If this sounds right up your alley, feel free to check us out and ask any questions you might have.

Do you ever have a passive gripe with the way trade is represented in medieval/sci-fi/post-apocalyptic fiction? I can't shake the feeling that those are societies that have moved beyond the need for abstract currency - that such forms of trade are more a concession for the viewer to analogize trade to our world instead of offering some kind of unique barter for a world.
A medieval peasant isn't gonna want gold coins for jack because the next trade caravan is two seasons away, they'd much rather a useful tool or some extra fertilizer. Credits in science fiction universes can become worthless due to Future™️ hackers setting their bank accounts to extraordinarily high values, so extra parts for firearms and spaceships are much more useful. Caps in Fallout just make no sense in a world where food and water are few and far between!
I feel unreasonably grumpy about this and I wanted to know if you have any kind of insight to this kind of thing.
There are a couple of only partly related problems here:
1. The idea that the economies of most sci-fi and fantasy settings, as depicted, don't make any sense. This is absolutely true, because most science fiction and fantasy authors don't really think about that sort of thing – their settings only have economies to the extent that the details of those economies are relevant to the plot, which they usually aren't.
2. The idea that it doesn't make sense for currency to exist in these settings because most of them logically ought to have barter economies. The trouble with this assertion is that there's no such thing as a barter economy. Yes, you can describe what one would look like, but no civilisation which has ever actually existed has operated in this fashion. It's a made-up idea – at best, a spherical-cow approximation of how the exchange of goods and services operates in a stateless society, and at worst, complete bullshit.
Consequently, whether or not it makes sense for anything like currency to exist is going to depend on the particulars of how the setting's economy operates (i.e., all the details that that are getting glossed over in point 1, above). About the most we can say in nearly all cases is that we simply don't have enough information about a given fantasy or sci-fi setting's economic structure to know whether it makes sense to have currency or not; we can't just assume in the absence of further details that things will default to a barter economy, because – again – there's no such animal.
