man. it hasn't even been a full half day of this event being out and im already drafting a fic for it. what an absolute RIDE thsi has been.

#will i post it? idk #it's me so its a rui fic.#its him getting worried when mizuki doesn't show up to school the next day. or the next. or the next or the next or the next #and he knows this isn't his buisness but he can't help but be worried for his dear friend #so he texts.#and they don't even read it #i cant decide if i want him to try going over to mizuki's house and talk to them (they don't open teh door)#or he can't even do that because he doesn't know where mizuki lives #GOD WAIT. what if i did a multichap and had a bunch of characters #toya getting worried too but having none of the context #he doesn't know what to do except take good notes in class for them and hope they come back soon #akito doesnt say anything or do anything #but he notices how tense ena is at home. how stressed she seems but she won't talk about it. (its mizukis secret. shes not going to out the #but aktio can't figure it out and he knows it has to do with mizuki or the cultural festival or something in her circle #but all akito can really do is leave a slice of cheesecake on the counter and keep moving forward #an is worried. and she tries talking to akito but he doesnt know and toya doesnt either #and maybe she overhears the bullies in the hallway and realizes it might be a gender thing #but she doesn't know about ena. she doesn't #but she knows how to fight for her friend so she tells the bullies to back the f off and grow up #nene not really knowing whats going on but noticing mizukis absence and everyone around her getting kinda stressed about it #how akito seems grumpier and an keeps giving some people glares #but mostly rui. whos distracted at practice and distracted at school and keeps checking his phone #and doesn't know what to do. doesn't really do anything because of it. but shes there for rui. and there for mizuki #whenevr they get back.#and kasa. oh silly ol kasa #he notices mizuki's absence and is all “hall monitor” about it for the first like. two dayts #but he notices ruis behavior first adn then an and akitos and man even nene a little #and while hes never read a social cue in his life he knows somethigns wrong. offers to put on a show with rui.#and rui. says. no.#that's when tsukasa freaks out

No worries! It's a very Antipodean/Commonweath term, originally from scottish educational insitutuion iirc.

(for those who didn't see my tags, to be 'dux' means one is the highest academic achiver in your graduating year. Phoebe being her grade's Dux is deeply informative to her character, given she was a scholarship kid, her mum had cancer while she was going to school and modern her techy, workaholic tendancies. it's also interesting how all of these things intersect with her Aboriginality. It's great and it's why Phoebe is my favourite character)

In general, the subtitles for Class of 07 are very Wrong in a quiet a few places (i wonder if they just put all the finished episodes through an AI transcriber and had some underpayed transcriptionist to edit it to the best of their ablity :/). The most stand out one imo is in second last episode where sister bickey says Laura was involved in the 'rock is dead vid' when it should be 'Rock Eisteddfod' (an interschool dance and drama competion in the eastern states of Australia), which is both a Very Funny mondegren, but also hurts my welsh heritage soul lmao

i struggle to socialize outside church but nothing feels more suffocating than socializing in church ykwim

#for most of my life all my social life and extracurriculars were sooo church centric #dragged every sunday obviously #then there was choir and more choir and even more choir #then there was volunteering #there were fetes and harvest festivals and community feasts and flower arrangments and service sheet printings #i never socialized w people frm school when i was in HS??#even now if i go back home my parents will surround themselves w pastors and missionaries and deacons and theology students #but obviously my faith is misplaced. from the perspective of the faith as was raised in and the values i was raised against #we are more comfy in our parents' milieu etc #was talking w a friend about this and they were telling me how they're more comfy around scientists and engineers bcs #that was their social world growing up #so much can be a culture shock to so many people #there's never an 'average' experience etc etc etc

I'm so excited that Holi is starting to become a more widely celebrated holiday here. A few years ago Diwali was the only South Asian holiday that had a town sponsored event but now Holi is becoming more known and there are at least three different events that I can think of happening soon!!!!

#I went last year for the first time and saw some friends from school and tried paneer for the first time it was so fun!!!#I didn't participate but I did walk around with my parents #I LOVED SEEING ALL THE COLORS #maybe I will play this year. I do not know #Are the colors hard to get out?#I know that one of the Holi events is sponsored by the town and is a dry Holi so you can't bring water toys #But the Holi event sponsored by the university says you can bring water toys #some of my relatives do not celebrate Holi but I do not know why #our ancestors were from the South of India #Google isn't giving me answers so do any of y'all possibly know?#I love going to cultural festivals #holi #desiblr
