Landis Arboretum
This was an incredible find - a public garden with 15+ miles of trails, a meditation garden, beautiful view of the Mohawk-Schoharie valley, and a large metal T-Rex.
Throughout the property, flowers and trees are carefully catalogued and labeled and information kiosks are spread around the trails. We were the only two on the trail until we got to the garden.
The arboretum runs on donations and volunteers year round. You can find more information about donating, your visit, or the history on their website;

Fear and Loathing in Schoharie County
7/8/23
When you see a neon paper advertisement at your local ice cream store, you heed it's wisdom. This particular paper had been telling me for years to make my way to the Landis Arboretum and I finally listened, dragging Reagan with me.
First and foremost, and what we came to the arboretum for, was a visit to the barn book sale. This was the only thing we truly planned for today, leading us to some serious swag (art-magazine for me and the golden retriever bible for R). Funny enough, we found out that an arboretum has much more to offer than old dusty ass books stuffed in a barn. With our tour merch in hand, we decided to walk the venue heading from the upstate NY version of Stonehenge to the main meeting house with its unmatched views of the countryside. After a brief encounter with a very good boy and its struggling owner, our day at the arboretum was done (too hot to hike), however we weren't ready to go home.
What's there to do in Schoharie county? I'm genuinely asking b/c that was the dilemma we were faced with. After a 15 second ride through the downtown of Esperance, I saw we were in striking distance of a covered bridge (epic JF reference) so I figured that would be cool to visit. What I didn't know was the covered bridge was one of the focal points of the Lily Park and home to the July 8th LILY FESTIVAL. Unbeknownst to us, we had stumbled upon one of Schoharie's finest summer events, drawing in what seemed to be the entirety of the county. After, frolicking through the flowers and countless vendors, we found ourselves hungry for more of the culture. Luckily for us we had passed both a vegetable and fruit themed store on the way to the bridge.
Only by sheer distance to the park did we go to the carrot barn first - sadly not as many carrots as expected. What it did have was a multitude of carrot and carrot related products and merch as well as the makings of your typical farmer's market. I indulged in two carrot cookies and a carrot muffin, but again, no signs of any major carrot infrastructure. As our consolation prize, and for lunch, we made way to the Apple Barrel Cafe and Store. My minor hyper-fixation of carrots had pivoted to apples and to our luck, the menu was fruitful with apple themed dishes.
***Returning to finish this 8/20***
After ransacking the barn, we decided to get a feel for the country living that is Schoharie county. This included the local baseball field in lily park with one of the best outfield views I've seen, a drive through of Schoharie City's downtown (foreshadowing) a brief stop in Middleburgh (where I hope to return one day to see the Blenheim bridge), and then an impromptu visit to upstate NY's dullest college town, Cobleskill (Sorry not sorry).
Following an uneventful tour of the tiny-banner, beige buildings, campus conveniently located 3 minutes from a farmer's tool shopping center, we decided to head home with one final stop on our list, ICE CREAM! Seen on our way down, we decided to revisit the dairy carnival. (passed it on our way down) Do you want generic ice cream and generic fried goods, at a generic atmosphere all with a drive thru? well you're in luck my friend, I know exactly where to go. But honestly, this place seemed pulled straight out of Grand Theft Auto with it's lack of anything unique or distinctive. I highly recommend everyone goes for the soul churning experience w/ bonus points for actually going through the drive-thru. We capped this expereince off with a lil film/photo sess and then made our way back to mi casa.
Following "downstate trips" include potential visits to Hudson, NY and the Long-Pond Studios.

Before trial, the Judge said he would accept a plea bargain and impose a term of 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison--but after loosing at trial the Judge gave a longer sentence.....
Nauman A Hussain, New York inmate 23B2641, born 1990, incarceration intake 06/13/2023 at age 33, parole eligible 05/14/2028, scheduled conditional release 05/14/2033, Full Release 05/14/2038
Manslaughter
Nauman Hussain, the limousine operator convicted earlier of 20 counts of manslaughter for his role in the deadly Oct. 6, 2018 crash, was sentenced to 5 to 15 years in state prison.
The Schoharie County Courthouse is just a few miles from the scene of the wreck. State Supreme Court Justice Peter Lynch handed down the sentence — the maximum allowed under state law.
“I’m familiar with all the facts of this case, and I’m going to render a verdict accordingly,” said Lynch, who last year rejected a plea deal that would have seen Hussain complete community service and receive probation in lieu of prison time for his role in the crash.
Hussain, the operator of Prestige Limousine & Chauffeur Service — the Wilton-based company, owned by his father, which rented the stretched 2001 Ford Excursion SUV, that would later crash after suffering catastrophic brake failure, to a group of 17 friends from the Amsterdam area to attend a birthday celebration in Cooperstown — did not speak during the proceedings.
He sat silently with his head down, handcuffed, wearing bright orange prison garb, as family members spoke for more than an hour.
All 17 passengers, the vehicle’s driver and two bystanders were killed after the vehicle’s brakes failed as it descended a steep hill on state Route 30, before crossing the intersection of Route 30A at speeds in excess of 100 mph, striking a vehicle in the parking lot of the Apple Barrel Country Store and coming to rest in a culvert.
Some raised questions about what role Hussain’s father, Shahed, played in the crash and whether his past ties to the FBI as an informant allowed the family to circumvent state and federal vehicle registration and inspection laws that could have prevented the wreck. Shahed Hussain was not in the country at the time of the crash and has never been charged in connection to the incident.
The FBI provided families of those killed in the crash a briefing about their handling of Shahed Hussain a few days before sengencing, but several have said questions remain about whether he used his connections with the agency to avoid persecution.
The sentencing comes two weeks after a jury convicted Hussain of second-degree manslaughter following a seven-day trial that was initially expected to last up to six weeks, but almost never happened at all.
Hussain, in 2021, accepted a plea deal to 20 counts of criminally negligent homicide that would have seen him escape jail time and instead serve probation and community service.
But Judge Lynch rejected to deal at a sentencing hearing, offering Hussain the option to serve 1 1/3 to 4 years in prison or go to trial.
Lynch, who called the deal “completely disingenuous and unacceptable to this court,” began overseeing the trial after Schoharie County Court Judge George Bartlett III, who approved the plea deal, retired.
The crash was caused by a ruptured rear brake line that rendered the vehicle’s back brakes inoperable and caused the front brakes to overheat and melt. The master brake cylinder was determined to be working at the time of the wreck.

Was the Holiday House staged? Staged in a sense to prepare people for the possibility of a Taylor like convention in the future, to see what people liked and what they didn’t. Like a trial and error type shituation? Because IF something was gonna be done to the person responsible for having that event, something would have happened already. But it didn’t, and people are still talking about it. So that makes me think that what happened was what was supposed to happen. Also my adhd is all over the place with this one. Also the Holiday House event had a total of 191 rooms. A little math gets ya, 191-149(number shows)= 48. 48th show was N1/6 LA 8/3/2023 where she played I Can See You (3rd album 19th track) and Maroon (10th album 2nd track). 3+1=4 1+9+2=12… 412 is the area code that covers the Pittsburgh area and its surrounding suburbs. Cities included: Pittsburgh, McKeesport, Bethel Park, Penn Hills, and Ross. Allegheny County and parts of Washington and Westmoreland counties. 412 was one of the first area codes created in 1947.
4+1+2= 7.. Tom Brady has 7 Super Bowl wins, for some reason I feel that this is relevant. And as of 11/2/24 Sidney Crosby scored his 93rd career game winning goal and surpassed Mike Mordano for the 7th most in NHL history with a single franchise.

Wait a second wait a second
As was revealed on cross examination, in the years prior to his becoming an FBI asset, Hussain engaged repeatedly in activity that constituted various crimes, including bankruptcy fraud, tax evasion, immigration fraud, perjury, and mail fraud. He lied repeatedly to a laundry list of government agencies, from the United States Bankruptcy Court… to the sentencing judge in his criminal case, his Probation Officer, the FBI, the INS, the IRS, the New York State Liquor Authority and the New York State Education Department. He even lied on the witness stand at the trial of this case, putting the Government in the uncomfortable position of not being able to rehabilitate certain aspects of his testimony, or adopt certain of his statements when arguing this case. More recently, Hussain was the owner of a car-for-hire business in Upstate New York that rented a defective limousine — a vehicle that had been ordered out of service following a safety inspection — that hurtled down Route 30 in Schoharie, New York, sending 21 innocent people to their deaths.
The guy from the WTYPPOD limo crash episode was also an FBI informant????? Did I just forget that from the episode or did they not know???
