I don’t get why people ship Cinwin. Cinder has tried to kill Weiss TWICE, and there is no one Winter cares about more than her baby sister. Her scream when Weiss fell in Volume 8 is proof of that. There is no way in hell that Winter would even think of being with the person who stabbed and almost killed Weiss and then caused Weiss to fall, leading Winter to believe her sister had died.

The coursework wasn't so much difficult, as it was that Winter had a harder time focusing at home than she did at school. There were far too many distractions here, from the grandfather clock ticking out in the hallway to the constant hustle and bustle of the house staff. The last thing she needed was a distraction bursting into her room, and without so much as looking up from her work, she had spat out the remark at her sister.

She didn't need to look to see the disappointment and hurt on Weiss' face. Exhaling a heavy sigh, Winter shakes her head and sets the pen aside, turning to fully face her sister. How many more years would they have together like this?

"No, Weiss, I..." Whatever apology she wants to say dies on her tongue, and she instead closes the book and gets to her feet. "Come. I'll have Klein make us some tea, and then we can talk all about what you've been up to."

For now, Winter didn’t know what else to say, and so gave herself the time to think by carefully approaching her beloved younger sister. All her motions were slow yet deliberate, telegraphed clearly to give Weiss ample time to move away if she wanted, to reject the hug Winter intended to give her if such closeness was unwanted at the moment. The soldier knew painfully what it was like to have touch forced on her, and both of them knew how they reacted to sudden contact.

There was absolutely no reason to make the younger woman any more uncomfortable than she likely already was. Should Weiss accept the embrace, Winter’s tail would also wrap itself around Weiss, while a warm purr reverberated from deep within the Snow Leopard Faunus’ chest. “That is perfectly alright, mein Schatz,” the Winter Maiden murmured, instinctively nuzzling her nose against Weiss’ temple; a mother reassuring her cub.

“I am honored you felt comfortable telling me,” she continued, disinclined to let go, for the moment — unless Weiss wanted her to, of course. Well, more like shouted, but that was irrelevant. After a perhaps too long moment of silence, during which her purr sounded loud and clear, Winter (rather belatedly) realized there was something else she was supposed to say. “…And I am sorry, for assuming you would go to the Dance with a boy; it was thoughtless of me.”

Which she wouldn’t soon forgive herself for.

Call me a downer, but I do not see the fab four leaving however this ordeal ends as an intact huntress team. Blake's likely to need therapy this setting just doesn't offer, Middle Schneester may need a suicide watch or body bag, while neither Patch sister has been 'enough' in any way, shape or form-and they know it. But hey, maybe Weiss can have a 'concentration lapse' around her dad. Way to use summon brittleness for body horror, BTW.

I wouldn't undersell their bond/friendship at this point. Blake's probably doing a little bit better than you think, Weiss is...gonna need hella therapy, that's inevitable, and both Yang and Ruby will need a lot of guidance from mentor figures to handle the previous two in any respectful capacity. But based on how they've weathered it so far, they might make it through if nothing else horrific happens.
