Ashlyn has a POTS flare-up and Taylor n her mom(Emma) helps
In the quiet, moonlit room, Ashlyn Banner lay perfectly still, her eyes wide open. The gentle hum of the air conditioner filled the space with a rhythmic lull, soothing the warm summer night outside. She listened intently to the faint rustle of Taylor Hernández's breathing in the sleeping bag next to her, feeling a mix of envy and dread. It was their first sleepover in ages, and she'd been looking forward to it for weeks, but now all she could think about was the heaviness in her chest and the way her heart felt like it was doing somersaults.
"You okay?" Taylor mumbled groggily, peeking out from her cocoon of blankets. Her voice had sleep, but the concern was unmistakable.
Ashlyn swallowed hard, trying to push down the panic rising in her throat. "Yeah," she lied, managing a weak smile. "Just can't sleep."
But as she spoke, the room began to spin. The walls danced around her, and the floor felt like it was made of jelly. She gripped the edge of her mattress, trying to anchor herself in reality. Taylor, noticing her friend's distress, sat up and switched on the bedside lamp.
"Ash, your face is all pale," Taylor said, her voice sharp with worry. "What's going on?"
Ashlyn took a deep, shaky breath, the room continuing to twirl around her. "It's just a POTS thing," she said, trying to sound casual. But even she knew she wasn't fooling anyone. The pain was spreading through her body, and she could feel her heart pounding in her ears.
"What's POTS?" Taylor's eyes searched hers, and Ashlyn knew she had to explain.
"Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome," she said, her voice tight. "It's like... when I stand up too fast, my body gets confused and thinks I'm going to faint, so it speeds up my heart and makes me dizzy. Sometimes it happens for no reason."
Taylor's eyes widened. "Is it bad?"
Ashlyn nodded, her teeth clenched. "This is a bad one."
Her friend jumped into action, her sleepiness forgotten. She grabbed the water bottle from the nightstand and held it out. "Here, drink some water. Maybe that'll help."
Ashlyn took the bottle gratefully, sipping slowly as Taylor put a cool hand on her forehead. The room was spinning so fast now she couldn't tell if it was the light or the world that was moving. She felt like she was going to be sick.
"Do you need me to get your mom?" Taylor asked, her voice steady.
Ashlyn shook her head, not trusting her voice. She didn't want to ruin the night, didn't want to be the one to make a fuss. But the pain was getting worse, and she knew she couldn't keep this up much longer. She took another sip of water, hoping it would be enough to keep the nausea at bay.
Taylor watched her, her eyes filled with understanding. "Let's sit you up," she said gently. "It might help."
Together, they managed to prop Ashlyn up against the pillows. Taylor held the water bottle to her friend's lips, her eyes never leaving hers. "You're going to be okay," she murmured, and for a moment, Ashlyn believed her.
But as the minutes ticked by, the pain grew more intense. Her heart raced, and the room spun faster. She could feel the cold sweat beading on her forehead, and the nausea was now a constant, churning presence in her stomach. The simple act of breathing was a struggle.
"I think we should get your mom," Taylor said firmly, her voice laced with urgency. "This isn't just a little flare-up."
Ashlyn nodded, her eyes squeezed shut against the spinning. "Okay," she whispered. The thought of moving was terrifying, but she knew Taylor was right. She needed help.
Together, they carefully maneuvered through the darkened house, each step feeling like a battle. Taylor held her arm, her grip tight and reassuring. They made it to the stairs, and Ashlyn paused, her breath coming in ragged gasps. "I can't," she whispered, her legs threatening to give out.
Without hesitation, Taylor scooped her up, cradling her in her arms. "I got you," she said, starting the climb upstairs. Each step was a victory, each breath a gift. They reached the top, and Ashlyn's mom's bedroom door was in sight. Taylor knocked softly, her heart racing for a different reason now.
Mrs. Banner's worried face appeared in the doorway, the light from the hallway casting shadows across her features. "Ashlyn? What's wrong?"
Taylor spoke up, her voice calm despite her own racing heart. "It's a bad POTS flare-up. She needs help."
Emma's expression shifted into one of immediate concern, and she took over, guiding Ashlyn to the bathroom and helping her sit on the floor. She grabbed a cold washcloth and pressed it to her forehead, her eyes never leaving her daughter's pale, clammy face. "It's okay, sweetie. We'll get through this."
The comforting scent of mint filled the air as Emma crushed a few drops of peppermint oil under Ashlyn's nose. The coolness began to seep into her senses, and she took a deep, steadying breath. The nausea didn't vanish, but it ebbed just enough for her to open her eyes.
Taylor hovered in the doorway, her own fear and worry palpable. "Should I call an ambulance?" she asked, her voice tight.
Emma shook her head. "No, not yet. Let's try to get her blood pressure down first." She turned her attention back to Ashlyn, her voice gentle. "Deep breaths, honey. In and out."
Ashlyn focused on the sound of her mother's voice and the feel of the cool cloth on her skin. The world slowly stopped spinning, and the pain began to recede. She took a tentative sip of water, her hand shaking.
"Better?" Emma asked, her eyes searching Ashlyn's.
Ashlyn nodded, feeling a flicker of relief. "Yeah," she murmured. "Thank you."
Taylor's shoulders relaxed, and she gave a small smile. "You're welcome," she said, stepping closer. "I'm not going anywhere."
The three of them stayed in the bathroom for a while longer, the quiet broken only by the occasional sound of someone shifting on the floor. The night had taken a turn none of them had expected, but in that small space, bathed in the glow of the nightlight, they found a semblance of peace.
As the episode passed, Ashlyn felt a newfound appreciation for her friend's unwavering support. And she knew that no matter how scary her condition could be, she wasn't facing it alone.
The rest of the night was spent in the quiet vigilance of recovery. Taylor slept on the floor beside Ashlyn's bed, ready to help if another flare-up struck. And though the fear of the next attack lingered, the warmth of their friendship was a constant, comforting presence that pushed back the shadows of the night.

Taylor: Look how creepy it is looking down this hallway.
Ashlyn: I'm gonna get vertigo.
Aiden: I'm a Virgo!
Tyler, deadpan: No, you're a virgin.
...
Aiden: You lying, cheating, piece of shit!
Tyler: Oh yeah? You’re the idiot who thinks you can get away with everything you do. WELCOME TO THE REAL WORLD
Aiden: I’m leaving you, and I’M TAKING ASHLYN WITH ME
Logan, picking up the monopoly board: I think we’re gonna stop playing now.
...
Taylor: Why is Tyler so upset?
Logan: He took one of those “Which Character Are You?” quizzes
Taylor: And...?
Logan: He got Aiden.
...
Ashlyn: What did you do with the phantom's body?
Aiden: What didn’t I do with the body?
Everyone:
Aiden: Okay, that sounded more sexual than I intended. I disposed of the phantom respectfully.
...
Aiden: Here’s a fun Christmas idea. We hang mistletoe, but instead of kissing, you have to FIGHT whoever else is under it.
Logan: Aiden, no.
Ben, with text to speech: Mistlefoe.
Logan: Please stop encouraging him.
...
Taylor: Who thinks I can fit 15 marshmallows in my mouth?
Tyler: You’re a hazard to society
Aiden: And a coward. DO TWENTY.
...
Emma, trying to be nice to Ashlyn's new friends: Would you like to stay for dinner?
Mike, excited for his daughter: WOULD YOU LIKE TO STAY FOREVER?
...
Logan: What's a word thats a mix between 'sad' and 'mad'?
Ben: Disgruntled, miserable, desolated-
Aiden: Smad.
...
Ashlyn: Why are you on the floor?
Aiden: I'm depressed.
Aiden: Also I was stabbed, can you get Ben, please.
...
Taylor: Aiden and I were crossing the street, and this dude drove by and honked at us
Ashlyn, sighing: What did he do?
Taylor: he chased him to the next red light, then reached into his window and...
Aiden: Who wants a steering wheel?
...
Aiden: If I accidentally sat on a voodoo doll of myself, would I be trapped forever in that position, doomed to starve to death?
Logan: How am I supposed to know?
Tyler: You say that as if we don’t use you as a source of knowledge of the occult.
Logan: ...You wouldn't be trapped.
...
Ashlyn: Tyler, keep an eye on Aiden today. He's going to say something to the wrong person and get punched.
Tyler: Sure, I’d love to see him get punched.
Ashlyn: Try again.
Tyler, sighing: I will stop Aiden from getting punched.
...
Aiden, holding a python: Guys I impulsively bought a snake, what do I name him
Tyler: You did WHAT–
Ben: William Snakespeare
...
Ashlyn: Dandelions symbolize everything I want to be in life
Taylor: Fluffy and dead with a gust of wind?
Ashlyn: Unapologetic. Hard to kill. Feral, filled with sunlight, bright, beautiful in a way that the conventional and controlling hate but cannot ever fully destroy. Stubborn. Happy. Bastardous. Friends with bees. Highly disapproving of lawns. Full of wishes that will be carried far after I die.
Aiden: edible
...
Taylor, whispering to Aiden, who’s on the phone with Ashlyn: Ask her something!
Aiden: How are you feeling?
Ashlyn: Fine.
Taylor: Something personal!
Aiden: At what age did you start hearing voices?
...
Aiden: If I die, my funeral is going to be the biggest party ever and you’re all invited
Logan: If?
Tyler: Great, the only party I’d actually go to and he might not even die.
...
Logan: We need a distraction.
Ashlyn: Is anyone here good at jumping up and down and making weird noises?
Aiden, whispering: My time has come
...
Tyler: Where are you going?
Taylor: To get ice cream or commit a felony, I’ll decide on the way there
Tyler: I'll come with

Mike, buying a whole bag of knives, guns and other weapons like he's going to war on a random Tuesday: I can explain
Jacob (shop owner): Can you?
Mike: If you give me thirty seconds to think of a lie.
...
Taylor: Heads up, if you try to make a candle with food colouring, it will just sink to the bottom of the glass, and when the flame eventually reaches the bottom all the food colouring will catch fire and become one giant tall flame that you cannot possibly blow out and the glass will start to crack and then you'll throw your tea on it in a panic and then the extremely hot food colouring will boil and sizzle horribly and then the glass will shatter.
Tyler, sighing: What did you do?
Taylor, wailing: A MISTAKE

Mr. Thomas: What are your goals?
Ashlyn: To pet all the dogs.
Mr. Thomas: No, I meant your goals for this trip.
Ashlyn: To pet all the dogs in Savannah.

In your SBG actor Au, are Ashlyn's parents in the show her real parents or are they also two actors?
What about the other adults? Do the kids get along with them? (Except for the actress who plays Jessica Clark, who Ben apparently doesn't like)
By the way, have you had any water, slept, eaten? Have you taken good care of yourself?

im rereading sbg and im at the part of ashlyns birth when her parents had the first ever encounter with a phantom
do you guys think the phantom didnt really look like it wanted to hurt anyone? because to me it looked more curious rather then threatening.
like in the second picture it looked like it just wanted to touch ashlyn instead of hurt her or hurt anyone.
or maybe im reaching idk what do yall think
oh and it didnt try to fight back when mike stabbed it

i just thought of this awesome crack ship thing in the shower i don’t even seriously ship it at all but it’s so funny to think about that i HAVE to write about it somewhere
what if maverick is like… emma’s (ashlyn’s mom) ex…. like what if he’s doing all this cause his ex-girlfriend has a kid and is jealous and decided to kidnap her. and then she just conveniently happens to be the “chosen one” so he’s like “oh that makes my life easier”
like he saw her on the first day of school and it was like shitttt that’s my ex’s kid. i’m gonna torture her for the entire year! and then leads her through this hell cycle
AGAIN THIS MAKES NO SENSE I THOUGHT OF IT RANDOMLY AND THOUGHT IT WAS KINDA FUNNY
I DO NOT HOPE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN

to be honest even tho i wasnt here during the canvas, i read the changes like last month (big thanks to @mishoarts here!! thank u for that post<3) and i'm really glad that Red did it. prime two best changes being
i think there is only Arabic version in a random website- thanks to leah for using google lens translate for the second pic lol
it's that Red changed Aiden's personality from a psychotic character to a slightly unstable but still loving character who just doesn't know how to communicate properly. it's fit far more than a psycho in the situation because he's grown really caring towards the group being like found family
he really cares about his friends at the point unlike a psycho would (psycho characters lack empathy and the feeling of caring/loving), why people mix him up with one is because the media influence of psychopathic characters. they think mentally unstable or insane equals psychopath but it doesn't, so from the canvas to the original Red changed that factor and instead made him the Aiden we know and love. and second
THEM OMG
THE MILF AND DILF
I HONESTLY WOULDN'T SURVIVE WITHOUT THEM PLEASE
IM SO GLAD RED ABANDONED THE IDEA OF TYPICAL PARENTS THAT AREN'T RLLY ANYTHING SPECIAL AND CHANGED THEM TO HOT MILITARY MOM AND DAD LIKE SJDHSJFJJJSDJ--

Hidinf In My Bed
Ashlyn has hEDS flare-up
Ashlyn Banner, a 14-year-old girl with a penchant for the peculiar, lay in her bed, staring at the ceiling. Her eyes traced the patterns of shadows cast by the blinds, the early morning light peeking through the cracks, creating a dance of darkness and light. Her thoughts were as tangled as the branches outside her window, which swayed gently in the breeze.
Her room was a sanctuary of sorts, adorned with posters of celestial bodies and bookshelves that threatened to buckle under the weight of her vast collection. Ashlyn's favorite spot was her bed, where she often buried herself under a mountain of blankets, her nose buried in a novel about interdimensional adventures. But today, she couldn't escape to her usual retreat.
Her body felt like a bow pulled too tightly, a pattern of pain and discomfort resonating through every limb. This was a flare-up of her hypermobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, a condition that made her joints feel like they were made of silly putty, stretching and popping at the slightest provocation. Normally, she could manage with a few painkillers and some gentle stretches, but today, even the thought of moving brought a tear to her eye.
Her mother, a gentle woman with a worried frown etched into her features, poked her head through the door. "Ash, honey, it's time for school," she called out softly. "You can't just stay in bed forever."
Ashlyn's voice was a hoarse whisper. "Mom, I can't. I'm in so much pain."
Her mother sighed, understanding but concerned. "Okay, sweetheart. I'll call the school. Just rest," she said, her eyes full of empathy.
The room was silent except for the ticking of the clock, echoing the painful throb of Ashlyn's heart. The outside world, with its laughter and the hum of distant cars, seemed so far away. She wished she could just float above it all, free from the confines of her own body.
But she was trapped, a prisoner in her own bed, with no clear path to freedom. Her mind, ever the wanderer, began to drift to the tales she had read, of heroes overcoming insurmountable odds. Perhaps, she thought, she could find some solace, some escape in those pages today. But even the mere act of reaching for a book was a battle she wasn't sure she could win.
With a gritted smile, she called out to her mom, asking for a book to be brought to her. Her mom, ever attentive, obliged, selecting one from the shelf with a knowing look. It was "The Odyssey," a tale of endurance and adventure. Ashlyn took a deep breath and tried to sit up, her muscles protesting with each movement. The world swam in and out of focus as she took the book in her hands, feeling the weight of the pages that held a world she longed to lose herself in.
Her eyes fell upon the words, and she began to read, her voice a soft murmur that grew stronger with each sentence. The story of Odysseus and his long journey home began to unfold, the words a balm to her aching soul. Each page turned was a victory, a testament to her will to fight through the pain.
As she read, her thoughts began to wander, weaving the threads of her own life into the ancient tapestry. Like Odysseus, she felt adrift in a sea of challenges, her body a fickle vessel that often failed her. But she wasn't alone in her struggle, she realized. Her mom, her friends, the doctors, they were all her Penelopes, her Telemachus, her Cyclops, each playing their part in her personal odyssey.
The day stretched on, and the sun climbed higher in the sky. Ashlyn's voice grew hoarse from the effort, but she couldn't stop. The words had become a lifeline, a reminder that she too could endure. And as the shadows grew long, and the room filled with the soft glow of the setting sun, she reached the end of the book. She closed her eyes, feeling the weight of the story inside her, the strength of its heroes becoming her own.
The pain didn't vanish, not entirely, but it was now a backdrop to the grandeur of adventure. And with the final word, she felt something stir within her, a spark of hope that maybe, just maybe, she could find her own way home from this painful exile. The flare-up was a beast, but she was a warrior, armed with the wisdom of the ancients and the love of those around her. Tomorrow would come, and with it, the promise of another battle, but for now, she had won a small victory in the epic tale of her life.
