now that wes has their copy i am so happy to be able to share this bind!! when i started this bind back in like february, it was because i saw another binder on instagram (peachybinds) use halo laminate on her dust jackets and i immediately thought to myself i need to do that right now. my second thought was it obviously needed to be completely pink, duh! 🎀🌸💞

i really leaned into the tarot/witchy vibes (this is a theme with me if you can’t tell. i take a theme and i R U N) and ofc the pink. i ran into the small issue of wanting a very pink tim with specific themes from the story so i just wound up drawing him myself so pls do not zoom in, my skills do not lie in art 🫠 i gave him all my jewelry though so that was fun!

this fic is genuinely just such a fun, good read i had such a good time working on this :) the chapter titles are my favorite of probably any fic i’ve ever read and making individual little tarot card-esq headers was fun, but i was fighting for my LIFE drawing them, so i had some help from canva with the sun rays 😩 digital art hates me </3

extra banter (co-brainstormed by @tigerjpg) that got cut because it didn’t quite keep with the tone, but i still adore it:

“I’m not perfect, anyway,” Kon says. “I snore. Maybe next time make a specimen who doesn’t snore.”

“Sometimes his sneezes register on the Richter Scale,” Tim says.

“And I have a crooked tooth, though honestly that might be from the time I slammed face-first into a volcano.”

Cadmus. Did Kon—did he tell Tim the name Cadmus, earlier? He can’t remember—he doesn’t think he did—but it doesn’t matter, because his thoughts scatter as the guy whirls on Tim. The rod comes up, jams under Tim’s jaw, pressing into the side of his neck. Not on yet, but it could be. Kon freezes; Tim doesn’t react except to go rigid, still tracking the guy with his eyes.

“Tell me honestly,” Cadmus guy says, lip curling as he looks sideways to address Kon. “Do you even like this one, or was kissing him the only way you could get him to shut up?”

Kon’s heart pounds in his throat. “You’re so…obsessed with my dating life, dude,” he says. Every moment the guy is looking at him feels like one less moment the rod might switch on. “Sorry, but you’re a bit old for me.”

hi there. late 20s woman. somehow just now discovering radblr & it’s crazy how relieving it is to read some of these opinions. it feels like a rush of sanity.

I had a mutual follower on instagram recently transition MTF and almost instantly I was being borderline sexually harassed, as well as them being suddenly very sexual on their story. it was like that was the last straw.

I remember thinking “is this vulgar, cartoonish display what womanhood means to you?” then it snowballed into other questions like “why doesn’t this movement sit right with me? why do I feel like I have to push my issues aside to stroke the egos of those who pretend to have walked the same path as me when they obviously haven’t? why does being gender nonconforming but not wanting to go by they/them make everyone so uptight and weird?”

i say do what you want. present how you want. the world is yours. but don’t try to act like we’re the same when we aren’t. don’t try to act like “gender is a social construct” when you adhere your entire life to a caricature that i’ve spent my entire life trying to escape.

this is a vent, but i’ve never been able to put these thoughts into words. i’m so grateful for people like you in this community.

I totally get where you’re coming from. Looking back on my life, it feels like there was 100 incidents that should’ve peaked me, but my area, my generation and my friends at the time simply prevented it. Younger people in more liberal areas, as they grow, develop a mental thinking barrier, where you ask yourself questions, but when the minute you reach “terfy” territory, you hit that barrier and shut down. It’s insane how much it took to make me able to cross that barrier.

Imo, gender is a social construct. Gender what women experience, how we are treated and how we are expected to act within society. Sex is what women are in nature - our biological reality. Your suffering as a woman, the caricature you’ve been escaping, is not your biology, but how you’ve been treated based on it - that’s gender.

Gender is a social construct, and it’s a harmful one. It’s the social construct that forms the foundation of a patriarchy. identifying women as something other than our reality, and pushing expectations and social norms/stereotypes onto us. Gender is real, and needs to be abolished. Gender ideology entirely relies on gender as a social construct, alongside it’s stereotypes and harms. It embraces it and strengthens it - as you can see with their frustration at non-trans identifying GNC people, and their anger at not being called a woman based only on wearing a skirt or growing long hair - “clearly dressing female” as I saw a TIM on tiktok phrase it once.

Gender, seperate to sex, is the first foundation of a patriarchy, and they need it for their movement to even be conceptually possible - the more they reinforce it, the more they “pass” and the stronger the more socially feasible their ideology becomes.

Thankyou for making that post about not making assumptions about the cast. I wish fandom stopped parasocialling with them so much, it's so weird. Not only the Oliver stuff but that Lou is this poor little heartbroken uwu baby and how the whole cast were awful for not defending him (I've seen alot of "and no one stood up for him!!" posts too).

None of us know these people! What someone puts (or doesn't put) on their public instagram is worlds away from what they may (or may not) say or communicate in private.

And it's kind of depressing to assume the worst of them (any of the cast) rather than just that they're professionals doing their jobs.

Fandom in the last few days has been so much fun with the plot speculation, fics, memes and stuff. I find the criticism of the plots and the writing (and Tim to an extent in his role as showrunner) satisfying, but not to take that to the actors. For me, it's much more enjoyable (and better for my mental health) to have fun with our blorbos in our sandpit and keep the characters and actors separate.

Happy to let you vent, and sorry it took me this long to answer. I kinda promised myself I was going to have a small break from Tumblr this weekend after my last post, and only let myself reblog some. Back here again though!

Yeah, I think it's very important to draw a line and keep it there. If we need a permanent marker, so be it. I come from the Marvel and Glee fandom, and especially in the latter I saw a lot of wild shit. Including Darren Criss's wife having to go private across all social media because of the insane stuff she was unfairly accused of. Hell, when (spoiler) Blaine and Kurt broke up for a while, Darren had to post a goddamn letter to apologise, because he feared the worst. Like. Insane.

And I've been seeing the crazy here as well from the B*ddie fandom, and I stopped checking that hashtag (can't check it even for their friendship) because of how wild it was. We are nowhere near what they do, don't get me wrong. But just because of that, and because this has been, hands down, the nicest fandom I've ever been on, I don't want us crossing lines in a moment of anger or disappointment.

And it's hard to know when to say something, too, because I do feel like the feelings we were dealing with were entirely justified. But as you said, it's better if we keep focused on the show and the, frankly, bad writing they are doing this season.

And yeah, I'm annoyed at the behavior of some actors, but I understand your point. I won't lie and say I liked how no one said a thing about the harassment Lou received, but I also know better and I know it is quite possible they talked about it in real life, and it is very much none of our business.

At the end of the day, Lou has expressed multiple times he was very happy to be in the 911 set, and even in his latest interviews he doesn't contradict this. He's a grown man who deserved to see all the love that we have for him after endless months of harassments, yes. But I also think he's a grown man who knows what he's doing and what he wants.

Stephanie has a youtube channel (she 100% gives it a name like gotham_after_dark or bat_interpreter) where she follows Batman and mocks him, she definitely also makes content on tiktok and instagram

She’s recording fights with rogues and him interrogating questioning people and doing voice overs in a goofiest growl she can for batman but she also does voices for everyone else (it gets to the point where penguin puts a hit out and is actively trying to expose the youtubers identity bc steph does this terrible whiny british accent when she’s imitating penguin)

She starts her channel right after Bruce fires her from Robin and still does it to this day

Bc if she’s gonna get shit for not being Tim might as well go all the way right?? She’s just doing the opposite of what Tim’s doing or outright copying him depending on which would annoy them the most

Stephanie records batman dangling some guy off a roof for the 37th time this week while going “You said the cheese on the nachos at your restaurant was imported directly from Italy but I saw you…THIS CHEESE IS FROM A GROCERY STORE…in GOTHAM… do you know what batman does to liars??”

Batman’s chasing the joker? Again? Here comes Stephanie with her fucking camera “Joker baby, you know that fight with Cobblepot meant nothing to me” “You know what, Bats? Fight whoever you want!” “Why are you going to Cobblepot’s lair with a grenade launcher? There’s short clips of cass suddenly disappearing or appearing out of nowhere before and after dismantling someone with the michael myers theme playing in the background (Cass does dramatic flips and landings every time steph records her)

When Bruce complains about the threat to their identities and compromising ongoing missions/investigations, Stephanie (who is purposely trying to piss him off) just looks him dead in eye and goes “Well, you’re not the boss of me sooo” so Tim gives a presentation and shuts down every single argument Bruce makes just to be contrary bc he’s a fucking asshole

Tim only has a problem with it when Stephanie and Damian start working together bc Damian  does concerningly accurate impressions and Damian keeps making Tim sound like a fucking idiot and it’s worse bc he can mimic his speech patterns (“I can’t do this anymore… I’m sad and pasty… Call the fifth robin, you know…the only competent robin…”) 

Like Damian’s repeating one of Tim’s caffeine concoction induced rants about bagels in Tim’s voice while Steph is growling at him to focus in her batman impression

When Tim brings his complaints to Bruce about Stephanie’s youtube account, Bruce cites Tim’s own argument back to him so Tim takes over editing and recording to be an asshole

Jason would have a tumblr and rant about edgy stuff. Maybe have a gamer discord too.

Tim would post infrequent short shorts on instagram that make him look cool like shredding (skateboard) and sometimes his boyfriend’s antics or something really stupid like slime or ASMR

Damian might post his OC stuff and sometimes his animals infrequently, but he’d rather keep his privacy so you’ll never see his face.

Steph would troll people. Be the most ANNOYING internet troll and prankster but only towards genuinely concerning internet trolls and pranksters. So she’s constantly starting beef with all those weird tiktokers and instagrams and twitters that keep reporting her to take her down. She’s already gotten a few taken down but she prevails!!! With backup accounts.

Babs would have a twitter and make posts about history and books and libraries. Sometimes she feels like commenting on Gotham politics (wheelchair accessibilities and feminism). But since her dad’s a cop, she also feels obligated through connection to sometimes make a few statements regarding her dad’s involvement.

Duke’s at rallies and sharing speeches and interviewing other civilians about Gotham. He keeps getting flagged but after Wayne verified him he stayed up. Lots of highly influential political news reports are hating on Duke and his activist group. They tried suspecting Wayne to dismiss the legitimacy of Duke, which is fair, but all the effort Duke puts into making the small voices heard is appreciated by everyone. He also has a DnD podcast/streams with his friends :)

Cass wouldn’t have a media imo. She’d watch videos and ignore the comment section and/or record incomprehensible cryptid videos (like i used to) where people are convinced it’s an analog horror mystery and are trying to solve it

Oh and Bruce Wayne is obviously a verified twitter and only for professional business because privacy. Also he’s old and doesn’t understand the internet.

A Better Work Environment

Timothy couldn't help but smile at the last photo that Luke, his only source of torment at his job, posted on Instagram.

Anyone could imagine that the cause of Timothy's suffering would be some kind of aggressive behavior by Luke towards his colleague. Not that he wasn't used to being bullied, when you are skinny as a stick, in addition to being a certified nerd, the teasing and aggression were just another part of the package. No, the problem wasn't that Luke was violent, on the contrary, he was an extremely friendly guy, even though his posts showing off at the gym conveyed a different information. Too friendly, was what Timothy would say.

The truth is that Luke didn't fit in, it was ironic for such a thought to come from someone like Timothy who for most of his life had been part of the outcast group. But it turns out that in that job, a tech startup, Timothy was just one of the guys, while Luke was the outsider. But since he was the brother of the wife of one of the founders, Timothy and his colleagues were forced to put up with his irritating presence.

Turns out it wasn't just the fact that he didn't fit in with the work environment, or the fact that he barely knew what he was doing, getting in the way of everyone else's work, or the fact that he couldn't even follow the dress code of the company, as simple as it was. How could someone not wear the same gray T-shirt every day? And on top of that, showing up to work in the sweaty tank top he wore to the gym! Worst off all, he stank!!! That masculine scent of virility that makes Timothy…very irritable. But that still wasn't the biggest problem. The biggest problem was the fact that the idiot had decided they were friends! Friends! How was that possible if they had nothing in common? Not that the big asshole cared, spouting off stories about his gym workouts,the basketball season, weekend outings with his equally limited friends, and the endless string of women he bedded... extremely infuriating!

But that ended today, if Timothy would be forced to live with Luke, then let be a version he could have an affinity with. It had taken a long time, but he had finally gotten his father to hand him the Reality Warper, an ancient artifact with the ability to reset everything about the person it applied its power to. That particular object had been in his family's possession for generations and could only be used once by one person to impose his will on another and on that person's reality. Timothy's father relented after realizing the truth. Behind all that anger, his son was clearly in love with the other man, although he didn't have the courage to admit it.

So, sitting on a bench in the company locker room, Timothy waited with a smile on his face for his prey to arrive.

Timothy smelled him, before he saw his arrival, male sweat mixed with spray deodorant, it was unmistakable.

“Hello, Lucas” he said, widening his smile when he saw his objective in front of him.

Completely inappropriately dressed in a bright blue tank top and sweatpants, not realizing that soon his entire reality would be reset, Luke smiled back.

“Yo, Tim, my Bro, Whats Up?” He responds by raising his arm to give a fist bump and inadvertentrly coming into contact with the small metallic disc that Timothy was holding in his hand.

“What's going on, Lucas my dear, is that you and I are going to have a conversation, a life change conversation, I would say. Take off your shirt and sit down.”

Losing control of his body, Luke found himself forced to sit across from Timothy, the smile fading from his face.

“Tim, what's going ….? He started to say, quickly being interrupted.

“Hush, there is no need for you to speak.”

"Hmmm" mumbled Luke, his lips suddenly pressed together.

"Much better isn't it?" Timothy said, the smile on his face widening.

“You don't know how long I've waited for this moment Lucas. No more stupid conversations, no more dumb jokes, no more talk about women, no more inappropiete clothes , no more foul smell in the room!”

He concluded, releasing everything he had kept inside himself during all the time working with the other man. Placing the small metallic device at Luke's feet and thus starting an irreversible process. Quickly the small disk expanded surrounding him on all sides. Not knowing what to expect and praying for divine help that would never come, Luke closed his eyes.

Timothy carefully observed the structure that formed around his colleague, a giant vault, almost like a metallic cocoon. With its front part restructuring as if it were made of some kind of liquid metal, before solidifying again, featuring the carved image of a bearded man on its surface. Which made him think that maybe the object wasn't an ancient relic but a very advanced piece of technology from somewhere else. While his mind wandered between the possibilities of alternative realities, time travel or ancient alien civilizations, the "cocoon" changed again, now showing the carved image of a beardless man with glasses.

After a few more seconds, the surface of the structure became solid and smooth again, then the walls retracted as the reality warper returned to assume its unsuspected form. Thus revealing a completely different man in Luke's place. The toned physique revealed that this was someone who still exercised, but not someone who treated the gym as the most important thing in his life. The clean-shaven face and thick glasses combined with a shy smile gave off a dorky vibe, which was completed when the young man spoke in a nasal voice:

“Sorry, Timothy what did you say?”

Timothy was speechless, before him was his ideal man!

“Timothy? I'm sorry, but if you don't mind, I'd like to take a shower. I'm smelling bad after the gym, I hate that feeling” Said the new Luke taking off his glasses and getting ready to take a shower.

"Lucas?"

"Yes?"

"Before you take your shower, there's something I need you to do." Said Timothy approaching his colleague.

“Of course, just ask.”

“I want a kiss from my sweaty boyfriend.” He said smiling.

“But I stink, I thought you were disgusted by it.”

"Right now I don't care, Lucas."

Smiling back at his boyfriend, Lucas walked over to Timothy and gave him a long, passionate kiss.

Timothy's life had completely changed. Lucas was a diligent co-worker with an engineering degree and advanced calculus skills, always completing his assignments with agility and even helping Timothy complete his on occasion. In addition the two spent their free time animatedly debating a wide variety of subjects, from expectations for the Doctor Who anniversary specials with the return of David Tennant and Russell T Davies, or whether Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 would be the last Marvel's movie with a soul, or what to expect from James Gunn's work ahead of DC films.

Timothy even allowed himself to be convinced to go to the gym with his boyfriend a few times a week and started a much more appropriate diet under Lucas's influence, which resulted in the gain of some muscles and a much healthier appearance. Not to mention their sexual activity, they might be a couple of nerds, but that didn't mean they were celibate, their neighbors would reveal just the opposite if anyone asked them.

Now they were both in line at the movie theater waiting to watch the new Indiana Jones movie. Timothy wearing a black T-shirt with a geek pun and Lucas the company's gray T-shirt.

“Babe, you could have at least put on another shirt.” Timothy said to his boyfriend.

“Timothy, you know our work is the most important thing in my life besides you. I wear this shirt everywhere with the utmost pride.”

Apparently some things not even a reality modifier device could completely change. Luke's love for the gym morphed into Lucas' love for his work. But Timothy would never complain about that, he got a fantastic boyfriend, a great co-worker and a much better work environment!

Leon buying a house next door to Mcdavid is weird. Not in a gay way. It’s weird in a codependent attachment way. no person let alone grown man should be that attached to remaining in the shadow of another man that they feel the urge to buy a holiday house nextdoor. They are with each other EVERYDAY for 6+ months out of the year. Is a summer break spent with your fiancé or family too much to fucking handle? Does he not want to spend break in Germany the place HE said he will move back to when he retires? He needs to spend summer with his coworker that he just saw everyday and traveled across the country with for months? Can his legs not move to train themselves unless he has Mc Jesus by his side? It’s not normal. It wasn’t normal when Nathan did it to Sidney and whoever the fuck has done it before. It’s a weird idolization. Notice Nathan brings up Sidney every chance he gets, and even said he had luck to win the cup from staying in 87 hotel room. Even the sponsors notice this obsession and the Tim Horton commercial is filmed together annually. Nathan said he will only to it with Sidney. Once again, not gay intentions, but a clearly actions stemming from an infatuation due to lack of individual identity. Notice how Crosby doesn’t give af because he’s generally a laid back guy, same as Mcdavid. but you have Leon and Nathan making sure to mention “he’s my best friend” every chance they get as if it’s relevant information that applies to the conversation at hand. But let’s be clear the obsession is one sided, in both of these friendships. Once again Mcdavid didn’t have Leon as a best man, yet Leon bought a house next to his. LOL. Connor clearly doesn’t mind Leon’s infatuation as long as it keeps him busy enough from Lauren having her phone in his face making him pose for instagram pictures with that damn dog. My question is: how did Lou get through 2020 without someone calling him out on his posts or him going through his social media to delete those problematic posts that could get him in trouble and/or disqualify him from jobs?

My guess anon is because he's just not a relevant enough "celebrity" (and I use that term very loosely when talking about him btw). For example he was on 911 before but his role was so irrelevant to the show as a whole there were people who didn't even remember right away who he was when they said they were bringing him back for s7. I even saw a few people get him confused with Gino Pesi who played Sal. And beyond 911 he hasn't acted in a lot of big name productions besides maybe SWAT and I think his role in that has been minimal especially as the seasons have gone on.

So there hasn't been this huge spotlight put on him. Even when I looked up stuff about him and his family (because his dad was pretty famous in the 70s) most of the focus has been on his dad and not him or his personal life.

It wasn't until season 7 of 911 when a lot more attention was placed on Lou, some of which was his own doing from all those cameos and other ways he kept communicating with his fans. Plus the bi buck storyline got a lot of attention so some of that spilled over onto him. Mostly though it was his fans and the chaos many of them have been wreaking. Even as much as some people don't like T*mmy and want to see Buck and Eddie together I don't think most Buddie shippers would have even cared about Lou if it wasn't for B/T fans making the 911 fandom hell.

Eventually people had enough and went looking for dirt they could dig up on Lou and came across his old insta posts. The main issue though isn't that he had old really problematic posts it's how he dealt with it after the fact. B/T stans try to say he was hacked but even if that was the case (which there's no proof he was) he should have put out some kind of statement on his insta. He should have acknowledged the old posts, taken them all down, and apologized for them. Instead he liked a tweet the day after where his fans made him out to be the victim.

Also I think he didn't delete those old posts years ago because he just doesn't care about them and likely probably still thinks they're funny. I still think it was him who sent that spitting on blind children post the night he was called out for his old insta posts. It fits in with the same brand of comedy he seemed to enjoy on his insta.

The other thing is and mind you I'm not an expert in any of this but celebrities generally have pr teams that help them deal with things like social media and help prevent them from doing anything online that could ruin their career. I'm not exactly sure how that all works with an actor as low down the totem pole as as Lou though.

Given all the things he did online over the course of s7 my guess is he didn't have a pr team or he had a shit one because he did a lot of stuff that made him look awful. Any pr team that knew what they were doing would have combed through his accounts looking for things like those old insta posts and taken them down. They also wouldn't have let him keep putting out those cameos especially after he was getting hate for calling T*mmy's racism and homophobia teasing. They certainly would have dealt with what happened on twitter that night that post about the blind children was sent regardless of what happened. I just highly doubt he has anyone working for him to worry about any of that stuff. It was far more likely that Tim and ABC told him to stop the cameos and to stop interacting with fans. This would also explain why some of those old posts are still up on his instagram because he doesn't have anyone telling him to take them down.

Lady Whistledown... Things are super weird this morning. The acceptance of Tim was talking about us is getting drowned out, but we were only copying BOBS" so it's not our fault. Also a lot of but we got our deleted scene and they didn't so clearly Tim likes us more .

A lot of nerves, though, because they are worried today is the day they drop anything, buddie. It's Thursday, so even they think something could happen. So caught between hoping nothing is posted, even if it's him and not wanting Buddie attention. I'm not sure if that made sense.

I will say though while they have been bleeding numbers and even bigger ones have made it a point to start to post less, clean up their accounts to make it look like it was never them. The angry ones would rather stay and burn it down. If he's not back, they will hate post. Try to drown out any positivity. If you ever had another potential LI become huge shippers of them. They already float around who could be potential boyfriends for Buck and Eddie. It just can never be Buddie.

On your question... I don't follow a lot of people and you were always one of them. Had to block a few after they switched sides and became mean. Was watching things unfold on both sides and one day just wrote you because I was tired of the Oliver hate. And I could tell a lot of people in the fandom didn't really see how it was falling apart over there. I figured even if it made a few people feel better it was worth getting caught. I also just like you and your random space so much it felt natural and you responded!!! a/n: I had a late start to my 31DOH but here is what was supposed to be October 1st

"God this is heavy!" I said while dragging the heavy toat across the floor labeled with the word Halloween on top of it. I had time to spare today since Buffalo has a pre-season game today at home. He'll be back in a few hours. Owen was playing in the game so I turned on the TV to watch while decorating. Tomorrow's October 1st so I decided to get the fall decorating done. Owen says I'm crazy for decorating this early but it's never too early. I have always had a passion for Halloween and fall. "Let's get this sorted out," I said while dragging the that into the living room. I lifted the lid off of the toat to see all the Halloween decorations I had collected over time.

I started taking out and going through the decorations I wanted and didn't want to put up around the house. I started setting up cute fake pumpkins on the coffee table, TV stand, and a few shelves. I found a few photo frames that were Halloween-themed. My hands reached up on the wall to grab the photos we had hanging on the wall. The pictures were of the two of us, us with our family, and or friends. I replaced the frames of the photos with the themed ones, putting the old ones back in the toat I had opened.

I took a break to watch the second period of the game. I didn't notice how fast twenty minutes went by until I stared at the TV watching hockey. Laughing to myself as I don't usually watch tons of TV. I saw Owen making some really good plays and I was happy to see that. I like watching him play it's not only entertaining it's fun. I feel so supportive even if he doesn't know I'm watching him sometimes. Intermission was over and the third period started and that's when I decided to start decorating again.

Dragging the toat into the kitchen. It wasn't that heavy anymore since I took out some stuff but still wasn't light. Searching through the toat I found fridge magnets. They must have been from a long time ago because I don't remember these at all. They were skeletons, bats, and jack-o-lanterns. Really cute magnets so I put those on the fridge. Our fridge has a ton of stuff on it so we could use those. After putting those up I searched for any other decorations I wanted to use. The last few things I decided to use were some candles, mugs, and cups. Those didn't take long to set up at all.

I gathered all the things I didn't use and put them back into the toat. Then I took the toat back into the basement where I got it from. The house looked so nice and festive now. When I came upstairs and into the living room, where I left my phone I saw the game had ended. I got a text notification on my from Owen.

I replied to him. I was changing the channel trying to find something good to watch and eventually just put on reruns of Grey's Anatomy that was on. I wasn't paying attention as much to the TV as I was also on my phone. Scrolling through my Instagram feed when I heard the sound of keys unlocking the front door. I walked over to the front door to Greer Owen, knowing it was him. When the door opened I saw him standing with coffee from Tim Hortons. Both of our faces smiling when we saw each other. I opened the door for him and he walked in. "Wow, you already decorated for Halloween?" He said while putting the two coffees on the kitchen counter as he looked at the decorations. "You should know that I do my decorating early," I say while laughing.

"Well, I'm glad the house is decorated for a holiday that's in a month." He says while chuckling and I just smiled at him. "Oh stop," I say jokingly. "Okay fine then, I'll drink your coffee the-" I cut him off before he could finish what he was saying. "No!"

"I'm just messing with you." He says. "Here you go." He said while handing me my coffee. "You know me so well," I said while kissing him on the cheek. "Is that pumpkin I smell?" Owen questioned. "I told you I decorated," I said while laughing softly. "You should know it's pumpkin season," I said. "You're just so adorable." He says while kissing me on the head.

I drew something for once! This took me like 8 hours, and around 3 of those was just the grass lmao. I already posted this on my Instagram, but Instagram has a short word limit so you guys have to deal with my full explanation >:) I tried to not let this get too long, but knowing me I nerded out. I apologize.

On this day 10 years ago, May 31st 2013, an incredibly unpredictable and unusual storm formed over El Reno, Oklahoma. While Oklahoma is not unfamiliar with supercells by any means, this particular one proved to be erratic in a way that still holds a world-record, makes us question the Enhanced Fujita scale’s accuracy with our advancements in technology since its creation, and still leaves a visible shockwave in not just the location it touched down, but entire communities of storm chasers, weather-related engineers and storm interested people in general. The El Reno 2013 tornado still holds the world record for the widest tornado ever recorded, at a whopping 2.6 miles wide. Not only that, but it had a peak wind speed of around 302 MPH, and lasted 40 minutes on the ground. The biggest factors that made this storm as dangerous as it was, however, were what made it so peculiar. It moved in an unpredictably erratic fashion compared to other tornadoes by changing directions several times and quite suddenly, as well as moved in a direction tornadoes don’t typically move. It was also rain wrapped, which made it even harder to see with its massive size, AND it had several satellite tornadoes and subvortices that moved just as erratically as the main one. To this day, this specific tornado has made many question the EF scale, I could go into that whole ordeal but it would be way too long for this caption. Luckily, this tornado mainly stayed over farmland in the more rural part of the city (which is part of the reason it got rated incorrectly to so many people, including myself), but despite this it caused 8 fatalities. While this post is to recognize all of them and the event itself, there are 3 specific people I want to talk about.

When I was younger, I watched some storm chaser content out of curiosity despite having a phobia of tornadoes that I’m still working on but getting better with. While it was mostly just random content on youtube, there was one group I watched more often than the rest; the TWISTEX team. They weren’t just normal storm chasers though; the founder was an engineer who made many groundbreaking things for our current understanding of weather, such as the ‘turtle probes’ that recorded the inside of tornadoes and took measurements of the inside of them. He also was the one to measure the current record holder for the largest pressure drop on Earth, which he measured inside a tornado. He and his team made so many advancements that have helped us understand these storms as much as we do now, and in the storm chasing community, Tim was known as the most careful storm chaser you could come across, for he knew what he was working with. So on the day of El Reno 2013, him, his son Paul Samaras, and their teammate Carl Young set out to El Reno to be there for the storm and release the turtle probe inside the tornado for research purposes. Their vehicle had radars and other equipment to track its movement safely. They were moving parallel to it, which is the safest route when following a tornado, and they were going to get way ahead of it, set up the turtle, and leave before it got anywhere near them. However, nature had other plans.

As they were going down Reuter Road, a dirt street with farmland surrounding it, the tornado took a sharp turn right towards them in all its erratic fashion. They saw this in their radar and tried their best to outrun it, however one of the subvortices, just as unpredictable, picked their Cobalt up off the ground, slammed it over and over into the ground, and then tossed it down. This direction change happened so quickly that the man driving just behind them on Reuter Road, Dan Robinson, made it out with little injury and actually recorded the whole event on his dashcam, which is unreleased to the public for obvious reasons. All 3 of the men were killed by the tornado, Tim still inside the car while Paul and Carl were ejected, one of them being found a half mile away. These men are still highly respected in the storm community today for all of their work, and some experienced chasers still make their way to the memorial for them in El Reno every year. I was saddened when I found out what happened to them years later, after having not watched their content for a while. I have high respect for the TWISTEX team and especially Tim Samaras, and they are who got me so into this stuff myself (don’t worry, I don’t plan on storm chasing ever lol, just seeing a tornado watch for my area freaks me out). I hope to one day visit their memorial as well, plus El Reno is a really pretty town off of route 66 and that is a WHOLE other can of worms I’m extremely into.

So, I wanted to make this for today, and have been planning on it for a while now. To both just draw one of the most insane storms in history, and to commemorate the TWISTEX team for all they’ve done and how they inspire me. I chose Reuter and Radio roads for the signs, as it was the roads they drove on during the storm and where their memorial currently sits.

I’m tired of consuming content about dating where the premise is, if a man wants you he will do everything and anything to make sure he doesn’t let you get away.

Every man that has pursued me heavily has been incredibly self aggrandizing and honestly scared me away after trying to plead their case as to why “we would actually be perfect for each other” when in reality my affection for them was a fucking conquest for their ego. It had nothing to do with actually liking the person that I am. These people do not make me feel safe. I can see right through the bullshit.

Conversely. I do understand that most men go after what they want and you can’t really change their mind about what it is that they want and if it’s not you it will be incredibly evident.

I do know I have approached men. I approached Aidan and Harrison and probably other guys in a successful manner that actually had interest in me. Even Davey or Pat, I initiated interest because underlying I felt some sort of vibe.

So with Frank, I can sense some type of vibe. I will die on the hill of following me on Instagram was a small bid at this interest. Even if it was friendly. Two. The band aid thing was too sweet to be managerial. Reff would never do that. Tim would rather watch me bleed to death. I don’t know a single manager that would help me put a bandaid on. Nina would kill Danny if she saw him putting a bandaid on some girl coworkers finger. I know it. Three. He calls me angel. Four. The times he consistently said “thank you for being the only sane person back here” Five. Asking Mike about me in a way that’s like “what are y’all doing dude. Six, he seems nervous around me but I’ll concede that I also get nervous around him and maybe that makes him nervous.

So I can see where he wouldn’t want me. He knows about the Alex thing. I was with Mike very briefly and Mike probably told him messy shit. Maybe I’m super messy. I’m his boss. We just got Sheldon fired for sexual harassment towards me. He could just not be interested.

It’s definitely not a clear cut thing. But I think that I can’t move past it (in typical Vanessa fashion) unless I know how he feels. I think I’m still worried about my rejection and taking it personal because I’m not in the most stable emotional place with my self esteem. I’m just having horrendous body confidence issues.

Im over thinking this whole thing. But I wonder one day when I look back and read about it if I’ll laugh at how accurate I was.

Ok, I can't find it but it was a picture of someone dressed up as Marv from 'Home Alone' with the iron burn, captioned "this OFFICIALLY wins best costume". What are your qualifications? Why this one? Is it because it's from a nostalgic property that you, a millennial, can't separate from your identity? You can't accept that those movies haven't been good or relevant since 1992? Do you constantly share images of "What if 'Home Alone' existed in the modern day?" and there's a mobile phone, how original, even though in the film they clearly show how the phone line has been disconnected?

Like, jesus christ, I thought that after 2017 or so we would be past this constant 80s nostalgia but no, it's just shifted up a decade. Granted, I haven't seen as much from that decade as I think it was a more original, less franchisey, and more edgy era so it will less likely be exploited now; and Home Alone is essentially an 80s movie. But come on, it's been 30 years, why? Why do we focus so much on recognition than transformation?

I don't think I'm conveying my anger as well but at the time I saw that post it pissed me off. An twitter post that was stolen and edited and posted to instagram to appeal normie meme culture from ten years ago. Again, it's been a decade, why are these 'memes' still around? You know the ones I'm talking about. White background, black text, caption at the top, image or two below. The evolution of Macro memes except worse because a) the textual punchline has been replaced by an image b) the image has no through-line in the way Bad Luck Brian had c) the image is always an after thought, the joke isn't built around the image but is a crummy aftertaste added on. And they're still here! It makes me wish Macro memes were still here.

That's all that it is now, repackagement trying to recapture the magic. Memes are dead and nostalgia is a poison. But no-one has any appreciation for history. Like, modern meme compilations are just worse versions of what's come before it except now they're videos use too many resources but kids are thinking they're savants. I constantly see comments of avant-garde humour (I hope I'm using that term correctly) like Adult Swim and Tim & Eric sketches saying "wow, they predicted modern internet humour". They were pioneers not Nostradamus! Learn history, have some restraint as not everyone can make a good video. Learn to write before filming shit. Just show some respect. It's like those old posts about kids saying the Beatles stole their haircuts from Justin Bieber. Aren't you embarrassed? You should be. Everyone has shame for what they shouldn't but not for what they should.

I’m a 41-year-long-term survivor of HIV/AIDS. I’m severely vision-impaired from cytomegalovirus (CMV), and mobility challenged from one of the early drugs designed to prolong our lives.

I used to see HIV disability as a singular issue. Now that I’m 70 years of age, my thinking has turned around. Many of us live with disability as a result of birth, accidents, or health condition such as HIV. Quite often, this world is designed and built by people who don’t have disability. To make things worse, many people think they know what we need…without asking us!

I live in a central coast village in NSW. Footpaths here are a luxury. Residents usually walk on the roads. With a sand base, our grassy verges are a minefield. I’m lucky in that we have several new paths. Although navigating to use them when I walk into the village adds several minutes to my journey.

I also have to cross three busy roads. There is a pedestrian refuge on one, and a crossing on another, but the busiest middle one has no safe crossing. I need to check traffic from four directions, and step onto the road to see around parked vehicles. I’ve had several close calls crossing this road, and I dread crossing it!

In consultation with my local member, who has a disability and uses a wheelchair, we put in a council submission to have some sort of crossing put in there, not just for people with disability, but also to safeguard school kids and the elderly who use that path. Considering our Council is supposedly disability-aware, they are certainly procrastinating. Safety aware indeed! Not!

Likewise the car park and entry access area of our local RSL were badly edge marked, and with a dangerous ramp to the club’s entryway. In bright sunlight, especially coming out of the club into bright sunlight, I could not see the access ramp at all. I relied on friends or kind members to get me safely to the ramp. Submissions from myself and several other vision impaired people saw the whole car park remarked, and the club entryway reconfigured.

It is very empowering when you are listened to, and suggestions are acted on!

I used to be frightened to speak up about these things. However, I know now that if we say nothing, nothing changes. As disabled people, we have a right to be able to move safely around our local areas. Whether able-bodied or disabled, if you know of dangers in your local area, be an advocate and speak up. Small changes can save a life.
