The infamous Riddle Roseheart's scepter! This one was...actually not that bad! I reused the magic pen model for this one for Riddle's magestone. I tried staying true to the original design, which meant poring over various references to make sure I got the general gist right

Are you kidding me? What I did was point out that narratives that push Gwyn being involved in Illyria is very much alluding to ideals of white saviorism.

You will not imply that I projected ideals of white saviroism as if I am a proponent of it.

I’m not white. I’m Middle Eastern and from a Muslim family and an actual American immigrant. I spent my formative years being teased for being who I am and spent the majority of the years after 9/11 being continuously asked if I was a terrorist by my classmates. All because my parents dared immigrat to the US.

There’s no actual way I would ever push forth an agenda of white saviorism.

I am, however, unequivocally saying that is the definition of being a fake ally when you speak over the actual voices of people of color on issues pertaining to them.

And I am also unequivocally saying that the narratives being peddled about elriels wanting Elain to be Illyrian so she can have Azriel’s babies and save Illyria are a lie.

Don’t reduce this into me being petty that you did not reply to my DM.

I simply didn’t agree with everything you said.

i hope someone explains to that artist why it’s such a concerning take to have. everyone criticizes sjm for her treatment of the illyrian’s and poc and now they want a white woman to turn into one to save them and have a man’s children.

A few of us have reached out to her privately to inform her of how hurtful her comments and concept was. I am very disappointed in her responses to some of the comments on the post—the whole thing is very tone deaf and insensitive.

If Illyria does become a plotline, it would be dealt with by Illyrians. Namely, Azriel and/or Emerie given their relationship with Illyria, their backstories, and trauma that they have associated with it. To headcanon that Elain would physically change her ethnicity and body a second time for Azriel is very concerning. She is strong in her own sense and does not need to change herself for a male. Further, to give the credit of Illyria’s salvation to a white woman over a character that has been established to have narrative ties and potential plot lines to said location is astounding.

This whole week has been a hodgepodge of rage bait and pointed indirect posts, and less about Elain. I am excited for next year when her week can be just about her.

New Fic: Rivers Stain the Ocean

Summary: When Lance messes with Pidge’s color coding system the only thing to do is retaliate in kind.

So she dyes him completely blue.

It’s harmless though, will wear off in a few days, and the experience will teach Lance to never touch her stuff again. A win-win if Pidge does say so herself.

Except for the part where the planet they visit the following day to form an alliance has this whole thing about a prophecy and being cursed and deceived by a being of blue. And in order to save both their planet and Voltron...

They’re going to kill Lance.

Story snippet:

Lance had lost his smile, face pale, and his free hand, going up to wave, was at his side, palm up, and presenting no threat.

It was also shaking.

Pidge did not blame him in the slightest, her own body trembling and swallowing down the knee-jerk reaction to move towards him as any movement right now with those spears so close seemed like a very, very bad idea.

What had he done?

Lance hadn’t even opened his mouth yet and that was normally what got him in trouble with other alien cultures and they’d all been waving during the parade so it couldn’t be some misinterpreted gesture.

“What is the meaning of this?” Allura demanded, voice hot and betraying no fear and despite the sudden situation the absolute surge of protection Allura was exuding comforted Pidge. She wouldn’t let anything happen to them. Diplomacy and alliances were important but nothing was more important than them. “You raise your weapons to attack—”

“Attack?” the king cut her off and Lance’s hand wasn’t the only thing shaking, the king’s voice a waver of what it had been. “We are the ones under attack, Princess. You dare bring this, this,” he pointed his hand at Lance, “monster into our home?”

The look of hurt and confusion that crossed Lance’s face was plain and Pidge felt the same.

Monster?

How was Lance a monster?

He was the same as—

Her breath caught.

No.

It, it couldn't be.

“Um,” Lance mustered up a thin smile, “I think there’s—”

“It speaks!” one of the advisor-type Saviros shouted, panic clear.

Lance clamped his mouth shut as the guards drew closer but still maintaining a distance.

As though they were afraid to get closer.

“There has indeed been a misunderstanding,” Allura picked up where Lance had stopped, and if her voice had been fire before it was ice now. “I will not have one of my Paladins spoken to in such a manner.”

“That is no Paladin,” sneered another advisor, decorated with a headpiece that obviously had some significance, and displaying none of the fear the others had. “It is a curse.”
