There's a lot this article touches on, but the parts about fossil preparation are kind of in poor taste. I'll go over some of it under the cut.
Tumblr media
There's a reason we usually don't publish on things we prepare. They say it right here - we can literally, whether purposeful or accidental, modify fossils as we see fit. We could imitate pathologies or create marks with air scribes or picks that are misinterpreted as pathologies, remove or obscure parts of a fossil that may be diagnostic, etc. (Of course we don't endear to do these things, they're just possible).
Whether through inexperience or poor dexterity some budding preparators can cause damage that only someone with a trained eye could notice. Preparators aren't always required to be trained in the sciences or have thorough anatomical knowledge, and thus can reconstruct things wrong, without scientific guidance. Like filling holes where there's supposed to be… holes! Like a fenestrum or foramen, for example. This is why we have references, but more importantly, we do the minimum unless instructed to do otherwise by a supervisor or exhibits team - one of a few scenarios where a curator can rightfully step in.
Tumblr media
This is why we're trained to preserve almost any bone we see. Often there are small isolated bone chunks hovering in matrix that are thrown in a box with the specimen. A lot of pieces can't be reattached because they're too weathered or of indeterminate origins (“IBF’s” for short).
"Creating" something "artistic" is another way of implying we're making it up as we go.
Tumblr media
If someone hands me a fossil and tells me to look at this "multimedia sculpture", I'd be confused. It's a fossil, not an art project.
Academic fossil preparation is fundamentally a scientific endeavor that also requires artistic abilities, but not creativity. We use various methods that are tried and true (and sometimes experiment with new ones) to expose an element from matrix.
The act of preparing a fossil is not providing new data. The fossil itself is the data. We just make it available. That being said, if we provide measurements, take and analyze samples of the matrix for various analyses, then that's providing valuable data. Would that warrant an authorship? Maybe.
This raises another question though. If anyone who worked on a fossil gets an authorship, then can authorship compound?
The person who found the fossil but didn't do anything with it afterwards - just dug it up and sent it to the lab, for example. Do they get to be an author? On our field crews we have up to 30 people over the whole season. 30 coauthors and 99% of them are not scientists.
The collections manager who just painted a number on it, catalogued it, and put it away?
How about the curator who allowed a researcher access to the collection who didn't collect any data but just answered some emails and opened the drawer for it to be studied?
The land owner who gave you permission to dig?
Finally, the preparator who just exposed it from the rock. They do more science inherently than the others, but if no parts of the scientific method were conducted and no data was produced (save for the fossil simply being brought back into the world), do they get an authorship?
tl;dr We don't need authorships for the act of preparing fossils unless we provide data and go through the scientific process (like what's usually required for any authorship). Many parts of the process is not science. Just acknowledge our work in your paper and we'll be more than happy.

worldbuilding notes for my extensive t/gcf snzfic modern au
which i will not exploring in the least in-text because i haven't the energy for the parts that aren't getting me off lol
i was gonna save these until after part 5 but then i was talking abt it with @bestwhumpist and got excited so here they are (directly copied from my notes so it's a mess!) it's mostly broad strokes of character backstory (very broad) + some random thoughts and notes that snuck in to the document which i have left in!
not sure if this needs it but just in case as always, pls no reblogging to non snz/kink blogs, ty!
• hc is a famous multimedia artist who went viral after he made a series that exposed and ruined 33 influential figures that were involved in the takedown of the xie family fortune and/or xl's disenfranchisement directly
he used a huge chunk of the money from that series selling (basically bankrupting himself for like 5 years) to buy and renovate a hotel/casino (paradise manor/gambler's den) AS an art project which then turned out to be more lucrative than anyone could have expected (there is talk of expansion but right now he's still living  very well but not actually ghost-king-billionaire yet lmao) (like i'm picturing a 2-3 bed apt in city center -> 5-8k a month rent(?) kinda place except he probably owns it )
• hc is 28, xl is 35
• they have been dating for?? several months at the start of the series.  yes they are u-haul lesbian moving in together, it's hualian
• xl was various states of homeless/destitute from ages ~26 to ~34
‣ some kind of popular figure before that-- (idol??  governing body?) someone hc could keep track of from ages 17 when they met to 25 when the Ruination events hit.
• hc IS fairly not-well mentally lmao (neither of them are) (not addressing this in this fic) but hc was institutionalized briefly (tong'lu hospital??) after xl disappeared and he tried to rip out his eye ;)  or lost it in a fight?  HMMM.  (hc ~19yo).  anyway he changed his name after this.
• (ruoye is actually named that (re: the double meaning in the characters in his name) bc xie lian found him as a kitten sleeping on him for warmth right after his unsuccessful suicide attempt.  but also he is just one of those cats that everyone is fucking allergic to so xl gets a free excuse for morbid cat names) (yes xl did keep ruoye thru his time on the streets.  yes he is a clingy shoulder cat that's how that actually worked out x,D) (ruoye is 10, e'ming is ...  probably 2-4)
• yes this IS a high drama "how to make modern au mirror canon" instead of "what if things were different bc modern au" setting.  for my incredibly self-indulgent fetish material.  why? ??? (*crickets*)
speaking of which.
‣ xl before the snz revelation WAS mostly chaste despite modern au no-cultivation partially bc he was raised that way/then too traumatized and insecure, and partially because it all made no damn sense to him ‣ used to try to masturbate and often just got nowhere with it only discovered True Horny once he got with hc but even then sometimes would just have trouble coming ‣ (these are all things that somehow became! part of the past! after the snz reveal x3c )
‣ (!!! xl worrying that it's bad/rude of him for their sex life and specifically his interest in it to have gone up so much because of this but at this point it is hua cheng's turn to pull "isn't it like we're fated to be tho?"  this works very effectively bc xl is So Demi that actually yeah pretty much only /hc sneezing/ works for him )
if you have read all this thank you for coming to my ted talk about the fetish fanfic i am overly invested in (^・ω・^ )

[HYRULE PARK: 5TH ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL]
July 30th marked 5 years since I published the first drawing of Link meeting the boys from South Park. You have no idea what has happened over the years. First of all, Hyrule Park has outlived most of the other South Park AU comics such as Mirai Park, Hell Park, Revenge Park, SP Fleur Blue, SP Left 4 Dead, my pals South Park High and others. While they were actively developing and then abruptly canceled, Hyrule Park was just drawing its second chapter😆. During this time, my AU acquired a couple of fans but the comic took so long to develop that most of those fans lost interest in it (and some even lost interest in Zelda and/or South Park in general). But despite all this, I do not lose hope of acquiring my own fan base who would draw me fanarts, made memes, or just asking me, "When is the next part?"
Guys, I hope that your interest in Hyrule Park will be renewed, because I actually waited all these years for the release of Tears of the Kingdom so that I could immediately build the entire chronology of events, and at the same time honed my writing skills. Someone will say: “Hey, why do you need to hone something? Your pursuit of ideals will only destroy you! Do whatever you want.” And I really did. And here is the result: the comic version is being reworked, because I started making it back when I knew very little about the lore of both the Breath of the Wild saga and the Zelda universe in general.
Fun fact: I did not plan this story as a multimedia saga. It was supposed to be a short banter comic about Stan, Craig, and their homies ending up the world of Breath of the Wild, meeting Link, going on an adventure, saving Zelda and going home. But then I found out that the BotW sequel is in development, then I found out how fan comics work and what is interesting to fandoms. Then Age of Calamity was released, and I came up with a prequel fanfic called Hyrule Warriors: Backstories, after which I learned about new needs in the fandom. By the time I adapted this story for Ficbook.me, its canon had changed to such an extent that I had to rewrite everything from the beginning. Fortunately, I only wrote the first two chapters. Then I got other projects (FNAF MA, The EDM Gang and even the lore of my cybersona grew into a plot worthy of a manga), I had a need for promotion, so I started doing all these marathons of my favorite animated series and AU, taking part in Linktober and Art Fight... In the end, I have ADHD, a mental disorder that makes it hard to concentrate on anything, so my brain needed a change of activity all the time, which distracted me from Hyrule Park.
So, yeah. There are a crap ton of reasons for delays. But there is good news: I am already prepared enough to continue this story. I changed its format, and now I don’t have to draw every scene of the comic. Instead, I can describe some of them with text. I also formulated a more or less clear picture of further events. All I need are those for whom I will try, and I need to know about such people through feedback.
Hyrule Park - 5 years later, everything is just beginning!

actually i will post just a little. i’m still reeling and it’s hard to articulate all my emotions. i was sobbing my eyes out during the concert and for a while after and even after sleeping my sinuses are still so screwed up from crying lmao.
so during the concert, kaf transformed into “KAIKA” - her real life self. the girl behind the voice who is kaf. she’s going to be releasing the music she writes herself under the name KAIKA. kaf will continue to coexist alongside kaika.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
it actually makes a lot of sense, i’ve always said that kaf is not just the girl voicing her but a multimedia art project made by a large variety of people. now that she is older it makes sense she wants to stand on her on two feet and sing her own songs as herself, as ballsy as a move this might be for a “vtuber”. kaf can continue being the art project that she is and the expression of numerous people while kaika gets to be herself in full.
i’m so happy for her. it’s been crazy watching kaf grow over time, i still have a signed letter from her from when she graduated high school… to think when she debuted she was 14 and now she’s revealing her true self in front of a massive packed stadium. piedpiper talked about how he wanted to let her take as much time as she needed to work on her self written songs and how he doesn’t want to rush her art and it really paid off. this is a perfect outcome really
i feel truly blessed to be able to hear directly from the girl that voiced the art that has saved my life, carried me through some of the hardest times i’ve ever been through the past few years. kaf has brought me together with so many people, she’s impacted my art and writing, she is a plush that i hold for comfort and a voice i listen to to fall asleep or to cry. and kaika is the one who gave her life all this time
i’m processing a lot that i can’t even articulate but i love kaf and i will continue to support her & kaika for as long as i can
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
oh and btw 💙 they made kaf’s oc real. that’s a design she made herself and they gave it a 3D model and then she dueted tokyo shandy with kafu. bless

TL;DR: I'm about to launch a multimedia literary project inspired by the Spider-Verse animated saga (Sony Pictures Animation).
--
Where to start? Well, how about this: Spider-Man saved my life.
In May, I suffered a great loss. I had never cried so much or felt so much pain before. I was like in airplane mode, going from home to a job I didn't enjoy and from the office to a home that forced me to be alone with myself. I crossed the streets without looking, didn't draw, didn't laugh, didn't eat... but then a very good friend of mine (God bless you, Juan Sebastián) insisted that I NEED to see Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, and there I was, after a work Wednesday, waiting in line at Cinecolombia to see the second part of the Miles Morales’ saga.
And just like that, folks, Spider-Man pulled me out from art block, mental block and life block. Your favorite huesera, the crazy cat lady who no longer has cats, the one who has decided to be a full-time comic artist, has been the CEO of the McDonald’s on Miguel O'Hara's back since June 7th, 2023.
ANYWAY. What the hell is this? A fanfic? A fancomic? The weirdest and most embarrassing Shakira x Y/N self-insert ever written?
Yep.
All of that.
Spider-Verse: ATLAS
A bilingual (SPA/ENG) literary experiment soon to be released on Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr, Wattpad, Ao3, and even in the suggestion box of 7-Eleven. Truth is, this makes no sense, but I want it to be read even in the WinRAR license agreement. Oh, and it will have an NSFW version (!), but it will be for people willing to pay for it and to not show it to my mom (sorry, amá).
Well, I'm going to continue living in the universe where I'm Oscar Isaac's trophy wife only in theory and not in practice. Oh, and happy Halloween!

hey so um i'm high off my ass and rly want to brainstorm and flesh out some ideas for creative endeavors.. this is my blog and i need to be more insane about my own creations because i deserve it. so here we go!
here's a list of my current, ongoing projects!
🔪💊💘 dr. puppylove - a furry yandere horror visual novel
we play as a player-named nurse taylor, a spaniel. they are dissociative, and learn more about themselves and their past throughout the course of the game, given the player makes the correct choices. not entirely positive about any gameplay mechanics other than a branching storyline/dialogue tree. first draft of the script is currently in the works. based on this old poodle design i bought a few years ago.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
🌈🦕🍭 tybius & phoebe - a candy-colored action-adventure rpg
started as a dream i had. evolved into a pitch for a fourth year thesis film project that never got greenlit. now potentially a game idea? no idea! i'm scared! anyways, phoebe is a freshman in high school. one day, a new kid - tybius - shows up at her school, and he's obviously a vampire. he leads her to a secret, magical world inside a locker, and phoebe must go on a journey with her new-found traveling companion to save the world that she has stumbled into.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
❄️💀🧣 children of south park - a multimedia cult horror fan project
kenny is dead, and something is wrong with the town of south park. follows the kids of south park, now in their late teens, as they try to figure out the secrets behind their small town. story will be told via comics, individual art pieces (digital & traditional), animations/animatics, storyboards, videos, and anything else that we decide to include.
please please please send me asks regarding these projects!!!! i struggle a lot with finding inspiration and keeping myself motivated (burnout after college was super rough) so it would mean the world to me if anyone found them worth discussing. <:o3

Book Collage 2023
Tumblr media
Collage of all the books I’ve read in 2023! This has been a fun little pet project for me for the past few months; I just really enjoy seeing all the covers together and playing around with organizing them in a way that looks cool. What’s included: all books (regardless of format), short stories, graphic novels, art books, VNs/multimedia novels, and poetry that I completed reading in 2023 (would include zines or plays as well except I don’t think I read any, at least not cover to cover). What’s not included: individual news/nonfiction articles, fanfiction (mostly bc it’s so much harder to track — I’m considering altering this next year if I do this again), individual chapters of ongoing serials (eg every new Black Butler chapter or Wayne Family Adventures episode from this year), works shared with me by friends that are not available to the general public, anything that was not archived in my Goodreads list that I forgot about before I decided to do this lol. Yes I did spend the last week figuring out what short things I had saved to read that I could use to fill in any holes.
NB: This is a value-neutral collection of things I read this year, not a rec list. Some of these are beloved favorites I am rereading for the tenth time. Some of them are new-to-me books that I absolutely loathed. Feel free to ask my opinion if you’d like to know what I thought of a specific book.
Thanks again to @fluffyblue-multifandommess for recommending software to make this with!!

The Photo Archive: an introduction
Tumblr media
Hello everyone! Since this is a very new thing, I thought I'd explain to you all what's happening here. First of all, my name is August. You might know me from @ghostsofmemories here on Tumblr and Instagram. I'm a poet, visual artist, photographer, and apparently media archivist as well!
This project was something that started with me collecting a few vintage National Geographic magazines to use for collage art. I also ended up with old textbooks, hunting magazines, anatomy books, and birdwatching guides, all filled with photos that I could use for the art that I don't share with anyone. But as time went on, I realized that most of these older photos aren't available online, and that they're a limited resource that I was depleting.
So now, I've made it a mini-mission of mine to create an archive for these images, especially if I decide to use them for art. I sit down with my book or magazine and take photos of many of the images (many of them unfortunately get bypassed if they're split through the spine or just a bit boring), edit them to fit the screen, and then put them in my google drive. I wanted to be able to share this drive, but I don't exactly want everyone to know my email or to have this project attached to me in a way that's too significant and ends up overshadowing my writing and art.
So instead, I've created a Tumblr and a Pinterest, which I feel are the two places that these images are most likely to thrive and find the right audience. On the Pinterest (and maybe here, occasionally), I'll also be slowly updating the other resources I have saved for multimedia artists - namely transparent pngs of letters and punctuation.
Essential note:
The most important part of this project is that all of these resources are free to use, no credit to me required. All images will be credited when credits are listed in the book/magazine, but if you use them for art pieces or personal stuff, they fall under fair use. So if you're a collage artist, a poet with a visual flair, or a lover of vintage photographs, these images can be used however you see fit, and however you would use any other images you find on the internet.
Please keep in mind that this is extensive work that I just do in my free time, so getting through my whole collection may take awhile. But you're able to use things as I upload up them, and I hope you enjoy these bits and pieces of the past and present as much as I do!

A foreword
My life as a writer started with me being a campus journalist. Half of my college life was devoted to my editorship in the official student publication.
I became the Editor-in-Chief during my senior year. This had been my dream ever since I joined the organization, backed by my frustration for not becoming one when I was in high school.
I was very dedicated in my work as the EIC. Actually, I was already very dedicated even before I held the highest position. I was strict and harsh, and I was always honest in making criticisms even if it would hurt people’s feelings. I acted that way because I wanted to achieve the best output we could while also being a good leader and example to my fellow journalists.
Because of that, some of our members feared me, some adored me, some literally had a crush on me, and some just saw me as the big brother they could always rely onto.
Being a Multimedia Arts student, I kinda had this dual life where I was a designer/artist by day and a writer by night—I'm not even mentioning the other extra curricular stuff I did.
Theoretically speaking, I could make the entire newspaper on my own. That never happened though, but I still did a lot more than what any editor was mandated to do. I wrote articles, made layouts, created various designs, drew comics and illustrations, etc.
This prompted some members to joke that when I graduate, the work that I did all on my own would have to be done by five people.
I had been so attached to that organization and all its people—I think they had also grown attached to me—that the thought of me leaving when I graduate was just so bittersweet—with more inclination on the bitter and sad side.
Like it or not, whoever my successor would be would have very large shoes to fill—and I didn't even believe in that saying. I just said, "Go make shoes of your own. You don't have to fill mine 'coz I'll take my shoes with me."
So... when the thought loomed, this question arose: Who will be the next editor-in-chief?
Sir Geon, our school paper adviser who was also the student council adviser, wanted to stick to tradition—that was to pick the EIC from the pool of members who would be in their senior year by the following academic year.
There were only two members on that pool: Myra and Bambi. Seeing their performance in the last three years, I didn't think they deserved the position. They only came to the office when needed or when they needed something. Not to mention, they weren't particularly exceptional writers either. How are you gonna edit the articles when you're not fully equipped with the right skills?
So we go the batch of members following these two. There were a lot of them, and I personally thought any of them were more deserving to be the next EIC. Four were quite promising:
Julie was the magnificent sports writer who could easily rise above everyone if she wanted.
Reg was that correspondent who always blessed the office with her presence. She did tasks whenever asked and she was eager to learn and improve—and she did.
Sha's strengths were in poetry. She had a lot to improve on when it came to other forms of writing, and her reputation was marred by the bad relationship that she had with her then boyfriend who was also in the school paper.
Mary was hungry to become an EIC, to the point that it felt like she idolized me and wanted to replicate the things I did. Though she was a good writer—save for some grammatical errors here and there—and was also eager to learn many things, she was eaten up by her own obsession.
Sir Geon wasn't completely blind—he knew Myra and Bambi had shortcomings. However, if he had to pick from one from the next four, it's obvious he only had his eyes on Sha.
To air my frustrations, I decided to make the Game of 13 Characters right after I finished with my multimedia research portfolio—hence the similar art style. I made it a guessing game so that the members would be more enticed to read and participate.
Other than the few mentioned above, I also included other notable people.
Dudi was an active member who was interested in photography and writing strong opinions. He's actually way older than I am and had been in college for many years, but still called me "Kuya" like everyone else. He's a good person, and he usually knew the right thing to do—but couldn't seem to do them.
Maia was our Associate Editor, second to me in leadership. She's also a great artist and writer, however she's not always present. Nevertheless, she still contributed when she could.
Graggy was a cartoonist and illustrator. He was a decent artist but he didn't have the guts to explore out of his comfort zone and do more than what he could already do.
Filbert was another talented writer and avid learner, but he was consumed by his relationship issues and the complexities of his life.
DJ was an enthusiastic photojournalist. Sometimes he's always there, sometimes you couldn't count on him. Lance, also a photographer, was the opposite of DJ. Another aspiring one was Blue but I couldn't figure out what his real purpose was for joining.
Then we had the juniors. Abby, Laudi, Eman were first year multimedia arts students that had very promising futures in their course and in the school paper. Add Jeracel to the mix who was an excellent writer.
Then we had the other juniors who were also very promising writers, but were sadly missing when called: Gelli, RR, Gianne, and Jewelle.
And... there they are.
I wrote this for the benefit of the people who are not familiar with us. I wanted you guys to somehow still experience the "guessing game" that I intended it to be.
So… as I post each story, one character a day, I hope you’ll try to guess who was who, same as how my friends did almost exactly nine years ago. Remember, one character can represent up to five people—I will indicate the number in some way.
The stories and issues here no longer matter now. Everyone, including me, already have different lives. I don't even have the slightest idea how some of them are doing because we've never had a conversation in years or I haven't seen any update from them on their social media.
Anyway, enjoy reading!

Hi, my beautiful net-baes! This is [bubblegumprincess] here writing for the first time and I hope you’re as excited as me.
Okay so getting straight to the point seems to be a common trend this week so I plan on doing just that.
My question is inspired from Mark Weiser’s paper The Computer of the 21st Century which considers how we make technology fade into the background of our lives in an ethical manner? For this question, I instantly thought of Solarpunk, an aesthetic genre my TA from last semester (shout out Bronte) told me about. Imagine a world fully powered by solar energy and without global capitalism that dominates society. Seemingly idealistic right now, but Solarpunk brings the hope that this is not impossible. If you can think it, there’s a chance to make it.
More than for the art and visual, solar-punk is highly regarded as an important literary movement for our future.  The aesthetics of solarpunk mainly center on its beautiful greenery that makes up civilization with simple yet still advanced green technology. As Jay Springett says in his blog post SOLARPUNK: A Reference Guide, Solarpunk provides a creative space that gets creatives to think productively about our future asking, “what does a sustainable civilization look like, and how can we get there?”. I could spend hours talking about different technologies architects of this aesthetic have come up with, but we might have to save that for another day. In the meantime explore intriguing design ideas from the aesthetic I’ve found interesting here.
A common trait in today’s generation is our detachment from the world around us and in turn ourselves by being too absorbed by our screen without even realizing. Technology with screens may be helpful in completing many tasks but as a negative side effect causes us to be separated from the natural world. In The Computer of the 21st Century, Mark Weiser explains how throughout history, "literacy technology" has always seamlessly integrated into our daily lives. However, as Weiser critiques, today's multimedia machine makes the computer screen into the focal point of attention rather than allowing it to truly fade into the background of the natural world. I agree with Weiser's team at Xerox Palo Alto Research Center that “the idea of a "personal" computer itself is misplaced and that the vision of laptop machines, dynabooks and "knowledge navigators" has not reached it’s real potential of information technology. ”
As a solution, I propose an incorporation of Solarpunk as an area of focus to invest in alongside Weiser’s idea.  The technological designs in Solarpunk, if achievable, will be sustainable and smoothly incorporated into everyday life. Now I am no engineer so I will need someone of that major to share their thoughts with me, but the idea of turning away from our waste heavy cities into a green and nature friendly one is worth the thought. By embedding future technology into the environment in sustainable ways seamlessly, we might develop technology that doesn’t hinder and disconnect humanity. We should aim to create a world where business, technology, and nature all work in harmony and balance. Capitalism hinders the ability to create for the betterment of the society by being consumed by just producing what will sell best (which is usually some extravagant combobulated bs).  Entrepreneurs such as Simon Blackler has already started proposing projects such as his work ‘Krystal. They have already started with their first creation which is a web host and public cloud provider called Krystal Holding Ltd. They run on 100% renewable energy and pride themselves in running an ethical tech company rewarding all employees for their good efforts as well. As a company they claim they planted over 2.7 million trees and continue to invest in bettering the environment and world.
Last year, as part of my SASAH final exhibition, I was proud to contribute to Western’s own Solarpunk-inspired project: the agrotunnel using agri-voltaics, led by Dr. Joshua Pearce. This project focuses on building an underground farming tunnel powered entirely by solar panels, allowing crops to be grown year-round in a sustainable and energy-efficient way.
Although still carrying concerns such as ownership, privacy, security, and surveillance, I believe the inspired technology from Solarpunk aesthetics align with the vision Weiser has for our future and serve as a productive next step. Instead of forcing humans to adapt to computers, computers should adapt to human needs. With growing concerns on AI, this is the type of ideas and optimism we need.
Quote from A Solarpunk Manifesto:
“In Solarpunk’s vision we’ve pulled back just in time to stop the slow destruction of our planet. We’ve learned to use science wisely, for the betterment of our life conditions as part of our planet. We’re no longer overlords. We’re caretakers. We’re gardeners.”
So it’s up to you to decide, will you choose to be comfortable staying a weed in the garden or choose to be a gardener of the world?

a what if about an AU in a crossfic with an isekai
Im writing a superhero fic where several characters i like are isekaied into the immediate aftermath of the death of superman. In this story superman stays dead and the rein of the supermen story line does not occur.
it examines the power vacuum left by superman not on the macro "fighting godzilla" level but the micro "saving cats" level. kara lands shortly after and takes over planetary protection to honour her cousin, as she feels she failed to protect him as was her duty. so the world is still safe, but in the streets of metropolis people suddenly realize, that every big city on earth except Central city and Gotham just lost an entire batfams worth of protection and patrol.
I have only written outline so far but im excited and the story is coming out of me of its own volition. "The New Guardians of Metropolis" a multimedia hodgepodge of terrible "art" coming soon to an unknown blog near you
