Batman Headcanon

Give me a 9 or 10-year-old Dick Grayson who has been Robin for a little bit but is still figuring out his relationship with Bruce Wayne. They are more than a guardian and his ward but not quite yet father and son. They both want that but neither of them have gotten up the courage to say it.

Now give me a hostage situation, during some kind of gala or charity event for the school. One where a lot of rich people and their rich kids are present so it’s very important for Bruce and Dick to be selling the whole secret ID thing, so they have to looking just as pathetic and scared as the other people around them.

The bad guys immediately recognize Bruce Wayne and his brat, and they pull Dick away from Bruce. They threaten Dick’s life, saying that Bruce better cooperate or he’ll have to find a new orphan to to take care of, not like it would be a problem since Gotham has so many.

Dick thinks the fear in Bruce’s eyes is an act. That’s not just Bruce after all, it’s Batman. The Dark Knight. He’s literally not allowed to be afraid, so that look can’t be real.

But it is.

Bruce hasn’t been this terrified since the night he lost his parents. His heart is racing and he has to physically push down a panic attack because that isn’t going to save Dick right now. He doesn’t know what to do. He can’t fight these people, not when he is Bruce Wayne. Without the cape and cowl, he has to be a helpless playboy.

So he does the only thing he can think of: he begs.

Bruce Wayne drops to his knees and he pleads with the masked goons to spare Dick’s life. He’s just a boy. A boy who has already lived through enough trauma. Bruce understands if these people hate him and if they want to hurt him instead, that’s fine. But he begs them not to hurt Dick.

He promises to give them anything. They can have his fortune, his life, whatever they want. Just spare Dick. That’s all he asks.

And a masked woman steps forward, leaning down in front of Bruce with what he knows is a sick smirk. The air around them thins and Dick feels himself shiver fifteen feet away. He hadn’t been expecting Bruce to say any of those things. Sure they were close, they had to be as the Dynamic Duo. But he thought after his parents died, there wouldn’t be another adult who would speak about him like that.

That would care enough to swallow their pride and beg, just for him.

Dick’s ears perk up when he hears the woman speak.

“Anything?” She asks. She sounds delighted, almost like she had won some sort of bet at a bar and not that she was leading a hostage situation.

“Anything.” Bruce confirms.

“Okay.” She stands, pointing her gun in Dick’s general direction. “I want your Mommy’s pearls.”

Bruce’s body freezes in shock.

Dick closes his eyes now resigned. Bruce may have been willing to say he would give anything but those were just words. It was one thing to say it, it was entirely different to actually do it. And Martha Wayne’s pearls were too high a price.

Dick can’t blame Bruce either. He imagined being asked to give up his mother’s wedding ring and felt his stomach turn. No, he wouldn’t begrudge Bruce for changing his mind—

“Done.”

Dick’s head shoots up, eyes wide with surprise. He had to have misheard. Bruce didn’t. He wouldn’t…

“Give me a phone. I’ll call my Butler and he will bring them here.”

And Dick cries. Not because someone is holding him hostage, he doesn’t care about that, but because a wave of realization crashes down onto him with an unforgiving strength.

He isn’t an orphan anymore. He has a dad. Bruce loves him.

Bruce ends up calling Alfred and Alfred, being the badass that he is, gives the Gotham PD a heads up but drives there anyway just so he can sucker punch the woman who demanded his late mistress’s pearls just to psychologically torture his son while holding his grandson hostage.

He then takes the pair home. There’s a small tin of cookies in the back for them to share on the drive back.

Already Waist-Deep

Hi internet void. Please allow me to kagura my bachi all over the place for a little bit. I've got a bad case of the brain worms about these boys that I haven't even had together for 20 chapters yet, so let me ramble a little bit about why they're already so compelling as not only a duo, but a ship.

First off, a caveat. Kagurabachi is a Weekly Shounen Jump (WSJ) action series. That means that if romance is ever addressed in the series itself, the protagonist is going to end up with a girl. Doesn't matter how underdeveloped or lackluster his relationship to her is, or how flat she is as a character. Invest lightly and come along for the ride without any expectations of m/m ships becoming canon. (That said, it might not be the worst thing in the world for our MC to end up with a girl in this case- more on that later.)

Second, I don't really ship that often. Not seriously at least. I need more than two guys being close with each other to start wanting them to be a pair, y'know? So I hope you understand the intensity of the material Hokazono-sensei has been giving us the past few chapters. I am on the brink of going all-in on HakuHiro/ChihiHaku in less than 20 chapters, it's that insane.

Third, I will be talking about current developments without marking potential spoilers. There are only 38 chapters out as of writing this, but there are at least two reveals that would be better appreciated going in blind. Spoilers for the oneshot Farewell! Cherry Boy are also a thing near the end.

Okay? Okay. Let's begin.

Who's Involved? First up is our protagonist Chihiro Rokuhira, an 18 year old boy and the son of a famous swordsmith. He was raised with genuine love and care by his father (no idea what happened to his mom yet), taking care of their day-to-day life while learning his father's trade. And from the very first chapter he is steeped in tragedy as he witnesses his father's murder and life's work being stolen. He then sets out on the long, fraught road of vengeance.

Sounds grim and not exactly compelling, right? Especially when this scene from the first chapter was making the rounds being memed to death:

But there's much more to Chihiro than meets the eye. Flashbacks to his time growing up show him being a natural caretaker to his dad and their fish- cooking meals, keeping his dad on task, and so on. We see glimpses of underlying tenderness when he meets and rescues Char, a sweet little girl with her own tragic past. And we get some insight that he might not be quite as resolute as he's projecting himself to be when he faces off against Sojo, a fan of his father who worships a much different version of the man than Chihiro knew. And now the Rakuzaichi arc has definitively shown us that Chihiro isn't as collected as he seems. One of his father's killers easily cracks the mask and shows us Chihiro is really just a desperate kid with a heaping helping of trauma, then Tenri's pointless sacrifice shakes him to his core. But despite it all he's still doing determinator things in the most badass way possible. Chihiro has layers, man. A lot of them. And the best way to understand our protagonist right now is through his foil: Hakuri Sazanami.

Who is Hakuri? A 17 year old boy with a special lineage, but he's a loser who needs to be saved from common thugs. A pathetic guy who latches on to Chihiro and doesn't take the hint when Chihiro literally runs away to ditch him. An utter failure to his family. A lost puppy looking for a samurai.

Hakuri Sazanami is one of the best goddamn foils I've seen in shounen manga yet.

Let me tell you all the ways I love the writing around this kid and Chihiro because MAN I can't even contain all these feels.

What's Going On? From the start, Hakuri looks like he's just another person for Chihiro to bail out. He witnesses Chihiro's awesomeness fighting Sojo in the streets and decides to imitate it by standing up for a little girl being kidnapped. Instead of winning out, though, he's captured and kicked around. Once he's coincidentally rescued by Chihiro he's immediately all-in on tagging along and keeping Chihiro in his life. Look at this pitiful guy:

Chihiro decides to hear him out due to his connection to the Sazanamis, the Big Bads of the arc. He's initially put off by Hakuri's intensity but brings him along anyway, as Hakuri's insider information regarding the Sazanami family makes him useful. Then, as Chihiro wavers under Hiyuki's assault, Hakuri is truly useful for the first time:

And it only gets better from here. We see Hakuri hanging off Chihiro's every word trying to be as useful as possible for his samurai, striving to do anything he can, though it ends up with him forcing Chihiro to give up his precious sword Enten in exchange for his life. (Yes, Chihiro "buys" Hakuri from Hakuri's own family.)

Later on during the invasion of the auction is where things go into overdrive though. We see their character arcs start to invert and shape each other's as the action unfolds and Hakuri's own tragic past comes to light, eventually awakening him to his special abilities. Chihiro's bravery and strength help him pull this off and finally defeat the older brother that tortured him in the name of "love". Hakuri ascends to being the strongest Sazanami since the progenitor that started their line centuries ago. He's the Special Boy!

All this to say that Hakuri Sazanami isn't just a deuteragonist or a foil…

He's the goddamn heroine.

Kagurabachi's Built Different What makes a shounen series heroine? Firstly, they support the main character without getting involved in most of the heavy fighting. A shounen heroine will usually at most have a fight against another girl while the Big Event is happening nearby, making sure the main character has the spotlight. Second, most of the value they bring to the protagonist's story is emotional. They encourage him, validate him, provide a bit of a refuge for him to safely let his guard down. They can get him to express softer emotions that he wouldn't normally show around others. Third… they're the love interest. Hinata, Orihime, Chichi, and now… Hakuri? Really?

We know the third one will not happen for HakuHiro in canon. But what about the first two? Well, let's recap what Hakuri has done for Chihiro so far.

Hakuri can defend himself now, but his most useful ability is access to an interdimensional storehouse. Given the way that his magic works -he needs to prioritize maintaining the storehouse or using Isou- he'll likely be the means of keeping the enchanted blades safe rather than a front-line fighter. Support-centric character that will still get some combat time against lesser opponents: check.

Hakuri's given Chihiro some much-needed direct emotional validation that he hasn't gotten from anyone else yet. ("You saved me." … "That katana suits you.") Hakuri's words fortify his resolve and Chihiro later pays it back by trading Enten, an incalculably precious sword and memento of his father, for Hakuri's life. He even uses the same phrase when asked why he'd do that for someone as worthless as Hakuri ("That guy… saved me."). He later reaffirms that Hakuri's encouragement gave him the courage to let go of Enten in the first place:

This is AFTER we see Chihiro open up to him for the first time just minutes after they met:

Chihiro's been a stoic good guy with buried trauma up until this point. But somehow Hakuri is the first person he outright admits his fears to- not Shiba, not Hinao, but the freaky kid he just rescued. Emotional support pillar: check.

"Well that's not enough!" you say. "That's just taking some moments and doing that thing you said you didn't do- smushing boys together just because they're close!" OK but look at how Hakuri thinks about Chihiro:

Chihiro has been his inspiration from the first time he saw him. It can be read as admiration and hero worship, but doesn't that feel like selling Hakuri's feelings short when remembering how devoted he's been since they first met?

And just look at Hakuri's face here, he's beaming when Chihiro busts in to save him just like he believed he would:

Mostly, though, Chihiro is the one who gives Hakuri strength in the moment. The Ice Woman broke him free of his family's mentality, and now Chihiro gives Hakuri what he needs most: hope. Something he never had before, which doomed his relationship to the Ice Woman; he couldn't prove to her that there was more to life than despair because that was all he knew… but that completely changed once he met his samurai.

And that's been their thing through this arc. Each one is giving the other the vital thing they needed to grow and keep going. When Hakuri was struggling at the start, Chihiro was his guiding light towards a better future. And when Chihiro struggled in the aftermath of Tenri's cruel death, Hakuri pulled him along so they could finish the job. They're in perfect sync now as they take down the Rakuzaichi. But holy shit it's paying off. In chapter 38 these boys are already in harmony- Hakuri registers Chihiro into his storehouse (yes they both "own" each other now) and sends him in to fight his father. During the fight, Chihiro trusts Hakuri to interpret his intent and it works. Chihiro wordlessly tags a bunch of grenades with his spirit energy and Hakuri pulls them out into the real world to bomb the shit out of the Rakuzaichi audience. They didn't plan this beforehand- they had no idea Kyoura had fucking grenades laying around in there. But they're close enough to understand each other's thoughts already. Peak soulmate material right there!

What's got me most interested now, though, is how they will pull/push each other after this arc. Chihiro's going to be focused more than ever on tracking down his father's killer and the swords. But Hakuri, well… I think it would be very interesting if he starts to become a despair monster. A reflection of Chihiro's state at the very start of the manga where nothing mattered to him except exacting revenge. We're seeing shades of this in the most recent chapter (38) where he's slumped over and obviously depressed about how all this is turning out. He's going to end his family's cruel trade but at what cost to himself? Will Chihiro see some of himself in Hakuri and be able to help him out, or at least promise to find relief from the pain together? Obviously a Bad End where Hakuri takes himself out is in the cards given Hokazono-sensei's previous works but… on a meta level, I think his storehouse ability will keep him relevant. I mean yeah he could be used to slap Chihiro across the face by showing what a bad end for his revenge story could look like but I think (hope) that won't happen. [Note to future self: I give you permission to go batshit insane if Chihiro stops Hakuri from committing sudoku.]

And this is where my brain worms are coming from. In just under 20 chapters we have an extremely strong set up between them- so much room for them to teach each other; push to grow and pull back from the brink when tragedy strikes again.

But where's the real meat, you ask? The actual literary analysis in this gushing rant about how much I love these boys I barely know? Well, fine. Buckle up because it's time for some…

Daddy Issues The Rakuzaichi arc really digs into comparing Chihiro's affection for his dad to the Sazanami family structure. And I gotta talk about this because it's the key aspect that makes Hakuri such a brilliant foil.

First off, the similarities. Chihiro and the Sazanami kids are all intensely devoted to their fathers. All of them were raised with love while learning the intricacies of their family trade. We see the Sazanami kids getting praised for doing well, just like Chihiro. Hakuri and Tenri were even told they were special. During the arc, the Sazanami kids put their lives on the line to defend their dad and family legacy with zeal matched by Chihiro's intensity to avenge his dad. When he falls, Tenri's final words are apologizing to his father.

It's truly heartbreaking that Kyora never really loved them back.

You see, the Sazanamis are one of those families that put their lineage and craft over everything else. Every member of the family lives for ensuring the Rakuzaichi auction goes off without a hitch. One of the clan is chosen to inherit the storehouse, and the rest are trained to defend it to the death. Kyoura, the current patriarch, has no compunctions about letting his son Tenri die just to delay Chihiro and the gang for a few more minutes. He had his kids put their lives on the line to defend a storehouse door that he had already broken in secret- making it completely useless. And he's equally cold when it comes to children who can't perform to standards like Hakuri. Once Hakuri (apparently) fails to manifest an ability for sorcery, Kyoura turns a willfully blind eye to the abuse his kid starts to suffer. He knowingly lets Hakuri be tortured by his older brother for years and does nothing, then disowns him once some "merchandise" kills herself in front of him. There's no love for children who can't be useful to the family's traditions. And yet any love that does exist between father and child is manipulated as seen here:

What the fuck man.

So Hakuri is going into this arc firm in his conviction to end his family's evil ways. He's been abused physically and emotionally for at least five years straight; he knows his father doesn't love him. But even now when he's about to bring the whole place down with Chihiro, he's still yearning for his dad's praise. Hakuri's family is fucked up bad and he needs a hell of a lot of healing after all is said and done.

Meanwhile, every flashback with Chihiro shows us that he was truly loved and cared for like every kid deserves. His dad wasn't perfect but he was exactly what a parent should be- kind, understanding, and supportive. His goofy advice helps Chihiro to this day. Chihiro and his dad had a genuine father-son bond that was broken by tragedy and thus Chihiro's desire to do right by his father's memory is driven by grief, first and foremost. So when we see his expression after Tenri's death, we know why he's so badly shaken. They clashed out of love and duty for their fathers, supposedly prepared to pay the ultimate price. The Sazanami version of "love" is a very different, much less wholesome version than the kind Chihiro knows… yet no less effective in terms of motivation.

You can practically hear his heart breaking for Tenri. And his inner thoughts in the next chapter say it all: he was naive to think he could enact revenge while holding fast to the kindness he grew up with. Chihiro's kindness that he learned from his father is a liability to him in this situation. In contrast, Hakuri knew from the start that he had to finally give up the last of his familial affection. He hardened his heart and steeled his resolve to do whatever it took.

Both Chihiro and Hakuri knew what it was like to be loved. Hakuri's version might have been twisted, but it was still painful to have that bond suddenly broken. And now we've seen Edgy Revenge Man's inner softness hold him back while Silly Soft Guy has a heart colder than the arctic. I go absolutely feral comparing and contrasting their situation and how their positions have reversed. Yeah, Chihiro's going to be the action guy who saves the day but Hakuri's the reason he can do it. Hakuri's surprisingly strong core has pushed Chihiro to put his feelings aside to get things done. I can't fucking wait to see how this arc ends and where these boys end up. What will the the most important thing Chihiro takes away from Hakuri here? I hope it leads him to be a bit more openly compassionate and soft around his allies- Hakuri's situation being a lesson in not letting your family's bonds overtake everything else. For Hakuri, well… I think being around Chihiro, Char, and the rest will help him heal. But I hope it's Chihiro that keeps him stable as the person that can relate to him best.

Meta Ramblings Whew. Now then… Yo dumbass writing this, we're not even 40 chapters in yet. Don't you think it's a bit too soon to start getting hyped for a character that could be shelved as soon as the arc is done?

It's interesting to see the themes and characters Hokazono-sensei's reused in Kagurabachi. From the four one-shots available to read, it seems like he's is interested in writing about characters encountering tragedy through various kinds of love. I think it's intriguing that three out of the four end in despair, and the one that doesn't still involves a fair bit of sadness. It's a bit early to say about Hakuri's circumstances since this is only the second proper arc in the series, but given Hokazono-sensei's past works, I think Hakuri is here to stay. For one, Hokazono-sensei seems to love his color-coded foils (Chain, Enten, Roku no Meiyaku). Farewell! Cherry Boy also explores the circumstances of a blindly loyal boy who feels useless being given his first chance to prove himself… I think this is a theme that Hokazono-sensei is revisiting in a more in-depth fashion with Hakuri, so there's a good chance there's more planned.

And just for fun, if we want to look at his romance stories… Madogiwa de Amu is all about one person being the other's greatest hope, their reason to persevere in the face of hardship and seeing that reciprocated in turn. Complete with the weaker person becoming strong enough to protect the person who inspired them first. Hmm. (Hopefully it doesn't end the same way though 'cause man, I can see Hakuri doing something similar right now…) It's also not impossible for Kagurabachi to touch on love given we see Farewell! Cherry Boy incorporating love as the crux of the narrative, despite starting as a gangster story. The true MC is quite like Chihiro as well in terms of motivation and action plan.

I also think it's impossible to overstate how important it is for Chihiro to have a friendly peer to compare to, narratively speaking. Char is a woobie, Shiba's an uncle figure, and Hiyuki is set up to be the aggro rival/frenemy. Hinao could become more than a side character but it seems unlikely at this time. Chihiro needs someone his own age to just be himself with. And that, I am 99% sure, will be Hakuri. A guy who's suffered just as much as he has. Someone who knows what it's like to have a famous last name and lineage to protect. An equal who's unquestionably on his side, who will lift him up when he's down, yet will still need some protection and care. So yes I think Hakuri will be sticking around to be Chihiro's foil. He might take a back seat at times as heroines do, but he'll still be there to support our sad boi through thick and thin.

Anyway that's why I'm ready to jump feet-first into this ship. It's got all the hallmarks of a wonderfully strong bond and I hope we get to see these boys comforting each other for years to come. If you read all this… thank you? Maybe get yourself checked for brain worms? And tell everyone you know to read this amazing action-packed tragedy laced with BL crack cocaine.

Yeah, stupid. That’s why you don’t smack a loaded firearm.

BLU Soldier: Tackle-saves Spy from getting head-shotted after announcing their location with the explosion.

BLU Spy: Blames Soldier for everything that’s gone wrong the entire night, Points a gun and threatens him. You know? The only ally he has in this forsaken death trap, who would know where he was if he died to the cult?!

Here’s a list of things that were each guy’s fault.

Soldier:

Answering Ludwig’s phone. But that wouldn’t give away their location.

Spy:

Getting Hoovy killed. If he had just brought Soldier with him to do his job, they could have worked together to prevent that outcome.

Not calling for backup. They could have called in Ludwig’s office, or on the way to the slaughterhouse, so they wouldn’t be easy targets in the empty lot outside.

Destroying the car and the evidence inside. Soldier was practicing gun safety and trusted Spy not to do anything dumb while he was holding a weapon. But Spy smacked the rocket launcher towards their car [and the ambulance].

Alerting the enemy to their location. Soldier’s phone call didn’t tell Sniper which window to fire from; the car explosion did.

So no, Spy. Having a grown man tantrum in the echoey sewer, blaming and threatening your only friend is not a valid response to what’s happened.

And Soldier ain’t even backing up, bro. He’s not scared of you at all. And I don’t blame him, he’s the competent one in the duo and he’s realizing it.

Meanwhile on RED Team:

On the day you were found out there, a baby screaming which attracted not only Jake Sully and his son, Lo'ak, to your location but also creatures, which one of them was a viperwolf.

That creature would have eaten you if Lo'ak and Jake didn't show up and got rid of it. You wouldn't stop crying until Lo'ak picked you up and held you against his chest.

On that day, his life and his family changed.

You seemed to have been only a few days old and with no one claiming you, Lo'ak's family took you in.

With Tuk been older than you by three years, you were the youngest Sully. You grew up to have a close bond with everyone in your adoptive family, especially with Lo'ak.

Despite Neytiri and Jake weren't your true parents, you were sharing Neytiri's gentle and nurturing spirit, and taking care of small animals and plants that you would come across. But you were also sharing Jake's adventurous spirit and love for exploration.

You had a mischievous streak, enjoying pushing boundaries and testing the limits, much to the dismay of your older siblings who often find themselves having to rescue you.

Neytiri was a nurturing and caring mother, she always made sure to spend as much time with you as much as possible, playing around, teaching you things, and taking you on adventures in the forest. She was overly protective of you, always making sure you stay safe and are not put in any unnecessary danger. Your bond with Neytiri was very strong, with you looking up to your mother as a hero.

Your relationship with Jake was of a father and daughter of course. Jake was always there to support you and encourage your curious nature. With you, he was patient and understanding, always taking the time to listen to your thoughts and concerns, just like with Kiri and Tuk. Despite his tough exterior, Jake had a soft spot for you and would do anything to make you happy.

Neteyam was a role model for you, setting a good example and always looking after you. He show a lot of patience towards you. You would enjoy spending time with Neteyam, following him around, and trying to imitate his actions sometimes. He would be like another dad to you.

Lo'ak, been the one who sometimes causes trouble, have always been cautious when you were around and since that day he and his father found you, he hardly really let you out of his sight. But when he wandered off, he made sure you weren't following him around to dangerous places.

But he couldn't always stop you, because just like Tuktirey, you were bubbly and energetic, and always eager to follow your siblings on their escapades on Pandora.

You and Lo'ak shared a very strong bond since that day he found you, at every cry he was there to calm you down; rocking you gently to his chest, holding your hand (especially on your first try on walking), cuddling you when you couldn't sleep.

Kiri was a constant companion, showing you Pandora and teaching you about the ways of the Na’vi. She was a nurturing and protective older sister, often helping to take care of you and looking out for your well-being. You were sharing her strong connection to nature and animals, always looking for new creatures to add to your collection of treasured trinkets and mementos.

Tuk, been older than you by three years, took her responsibility as a big sister seriously, which in your parents' eyes was very adorable. Since you learned how to walk (and ran) she followed you around to make sure you were safe. She, like your older siblings, was very protective over you.

Tonkla's Timeline in 4 Minutes (ep. 1-7)

It turns out that I won't have the time to continue on my full 4 Minutes timelines posts this week (and probably not after the last episode next week either), but I did want to note some things about Tonkla's timeline because that's the most scattered and interesting one at this point (at least to me).

I will add the scenes that include Dome as well, since they have an obvious impact on Tonkla's timeline.

So here is my take on Tonkla's timeline, in chronological-ish order.

(Explanations and sidenotes will be highlighted in purple.)

The Past-Past

These events took place before Great goes to school in the first episode. In regards to Tonkla's timeline, these scenes are his memories and other flashbacks we get.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla and Dome's dad kill the cat. Dome tells Tonkla that they should go to the police.

(Ep. 4:)

Then we have one of Tonkla's memories of when he's burying his cat at school. Korn is also there and tells him to save the red cat collar as a memento.

This is from his Uni days (I think), and that's most likely a couple of years before we see him introduced in the first episode.

(Ep. 4:)

We have another one of Tonkla's memories, this time of Korn and him having sex together for the first time. We also find out Tonkla and Dome are moving out of their family's home (and, most likely, into the house Korn paid for).

This scene is interesting because it could just as well come before as after Tonkla's dad dies. Tonkla does say that their dad has gotten drunk all the time recently and caused trouble, which is an indication that he's still alive. However, Tonkla also says that he's told Dome that they're never going back there again.

But, if we're to believe Tonkla's words here, then this scene comes before the following one...

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla's dad "falls" down the stairs.

One thing is for sure about this scene, though, and that's that this scene comes after his dad has killed the cat since Tonkla is holding the cat's red collar (which Korn told him to keep as a memento when burying the cat) in his hand as he's standing on the stairs looking at his dad bleeding on the floor.

The Past

This is everything we've seen play out in "real time", from the point where Tonkla is introduced in the show and up to the point where he shoots Great.

(Ep. 1:)

We're introduced to Tonkla, Korn arrives, they talk, and then fuck. Just when Korn has left, Tonkla sees the black cat.

(Ep. 2:)

Dome witnesses Title and View fighting.

(Ep. 2:)

Dome tells Mod that he saw Title and View together the night before. Title disagrees, which leads to Title confronting Dome by the basketball court.

(Ep. 6:)

Great talks to Title on the phone asking him about Dome's video. Title says he's almost at Great's condo.

(Ep. 6:)

Title kills Dome and Great helps him dump Dome's body into the water.

(Ep. 2:)

The police find a body (Dome) by the lighthouse and a rock with blood on it.

(Ep. 2:)

Tonkla arrives at the forensic department to identify his brother's body.

(Ep. 2:)

Tonkla is sitting on the floor, crying, hugging a photo of his brother. He calls Korn, but Korn dismisses him (because he has to deal with the hacker attack). Tonkla has a breakdown.

(Ep. 2:)

Tonkla waits for Korn to call. Instead, Win shows up at his house.

(Ep. 7:)

A father-son duo finds a memory card.

(Ep. 7:)

The police chief looks at the contents of the memory card, and sees a video of Title and Great dumping Dome's body into the water. He breaks the memory card and throws it away before threatening the father-son duo not to get involved anymore.

This must be what leads the chief to take Win off the case.

(Ep. 3:)

Win gets taken off Dome's case.

This could be the same day as the scene above considering the chief's clothes.

(Ep. 3:)

Tonkla is pissed that Korn hasn't called and starts smoking. Then Win arrives to tell Tonkla he's been taken off Dome's case. They fuck. Then Tonkla asks Win if he can come by and keep him company from time to time.

This is also the same day considering Win's clothes.

(Ep. 3:)

Win approaches Mod at Uni to ask about the comment she made on Dome's social media, but she says she doesn't know anything. Then, when Win gets back to his car, there's a note saying "If you don't stop prying, I'll kill you" (which I'm pretty sure is written by Title because it sounds like him).

Technically, Title is still alive here (if that note is from him), which is also why it makes sense that Win is followed after this.

(Ep. 4:)

Tonkla cremates his brother's body. Win is there and notices he's being followed. He also mentioned the one who did it is probably an heir to a powerful family (but he doesn't know whom, yet). Win offers to move in with Tonkla to keep him company and protect him.

(Ep. 4:)

It's the next day, and Win moves in with Tonkla. They're about to fuck but Korn's arrival interrupts their fun. Korn is an ass, Tonkla throws him out, then Tonkla and Win fuck anyway.

(Ep. 4:)

Win is lying naked in bed while Tonkla is sitting in darkness, holding the red cat collar, and thinking about the past.

This scene leads into the memories I added in the past-past category above.

(Ep. 4:)

Tonkla hears Dome come home even though Dome is dead.

Honestly, this scene can be just about anywhere after Dome is killed since different timelines are blending together in this moment. But I'm putting it here because that's when it showed up in this particular episode.

(Ep. 7:)

Win learns from his colleague that Title's prints were on the rock that killed Dome.

I think this comes before the cold opens because I think they found a second rock by the second body even though we haven't gotten to see it (yet). So, when Win finds out Tonkla's prints are on that rock in the cold open of the fourth episode, it's actually true. Tonkla isn't being framed (which was my initial thought concerning that cold open).

(Ep. 7:)

Win sees the footage of Title fighting with Dome on the school campus.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla is cutting some tomatoes when Win calls and tells him Title killed Dome. Tonkla sees the black cat again.

(Ep. 7:)

Win is attacked and the usb with the footage of Title attacking Dome gets stolen.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla finds Win at the ER and Win tells him that the evidence was stolen.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla is smoking in his bedroom and looking at the photo of him and Dome as kids.

I thought this scene was really interesting because it felt like Tonkla decided to become the other version of himself here (his reflections). The version of himself that will do whatever it takes to get revenge on his brother, which leads him to start investigating on his own.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla is by the lighthouse, finds the father-son duo, and watches the video from the memory card that the son saved.

Now he's seen evidence that Title (and Great) were involved in Dome's death rather than just Win's words.

(Ep. 7:)

Tonkla is back home and does a background check on Title and Great on the internet. He realizes Great is Korn's brother. He sees the cat again, bringing his attention to a gun.

(Ep. 6:)

Great steps into the elevator at his condo. Tonkla shows up and shoots him.

It is possible that Tonkla killed both Great and Title on the same night considering his clothes. If that's the case, I think Great was shot before Title was killed because Tonkla isn't bloody here.

Also, this was personal on another level for Tonkla considering he now knows that Great and Korn are brothers. Shooting Great was probably twice as sweet for him.

(Ep. 7:)

Korn finds out Great was shot.

This is where the past ends and the present/future begins...

The Present/Future

The present is when Great and Tyme have their cardiac arrests and their OOBEs. Since I'm focusing on Tonkla, however, every scene in which we've seen him that comes after he shoots Great happens in the future in relation to the present moment.

(Ep. 5, cold open:)

Title is drugged while partying, and Tonkla arrives.

This has to happen before the cold open of the 2nd episode where Tonkla beats someone and before the cold open of the 3rd episode where the police find the second body by the lighthouse (probably Title).

(Ep. 2, cold open:)

Tonkla is by the lighthouse and beats the shit out of someone (probably Title).

This comes after the cold open of the 5th episode where Title gets drugged, but is most likely from the same night (considering Tonkla's clothes), and before the cold open of the 3rd episode where the police find the second body by the lighthouse (probably Title).

(Ep. 3, cold open:)

The police find another body by the lighthouse. This one also has an open wound on the head. Probably targeted for revenge.

(Ep. 4, cold open:)

Win is told that Tonkla's prints are on the rock used to kill one of the bodies they found.

As I mentioned before, the only rock we've seen them find was the one in the 2nd episode when they found the first body (which was Dome). But, I think there's a possibility they found the second rock by the second body as well (even though we haven't seen it, yet), which might've been a reason why the other police officer pointed out that this could've been about revenge. So, Tonkla's prints on this rock might actually be the real thing.

Also, it would make sense that Win warned Tonkla about it since Tonkla called Win just as Win got the DNA results, which leads to the next scene...

(Ep. 6, cold open:)

The police arrive at Tonkla's house to arrest him but Tonkla isn't there.

That's it. That's my take on Tonkla's timeline at this point, even though there are a couple of scenes I'm unsure about. But this will have to do for now.

I can't wait to see what happens in the last episode.

I was thinking about what Buck and Eddie’s love languages are and very quickly was like, “wait, it’s most of them.”

Acts of service: Buck introducing Eddie to Carla, cooking for each other, Eddie being there for Buck when Maddie is missing and when his parents are in town, Buck taking care of Christopher, Buck bringing Eddie to Chris after the earthquake, Buck going against his own trauma to rescue Eddie after he was shot and keeping him alive in the fire truck, Buck rushing to Eddie’s place after his breakdown to check on Chris and see if Eddie was okay, talking him through his issues, Eddie getting Buck ice after he was punched, Eddie trying to get Buck out of his head to “save him” from himself, going the extra mile to save each other during calls and risking their lives, Eddie risking another lightning strike by rushing up the ladder to get Buck down and then forcibly taking over his care after they arrive at the hospital and then shouting at the doctors to “do more”, Eddie letting Buck over just to fall asleep on the couch, respecting his boundaries despite his own need to check on him, getting him water after his nap, talking him through his own issues and trauma, Eddie planning the poker outing to get Buck smiling again, Buck driving Eddie and Chris to the airport, them understand each other implicitly, etc.

Quality time: Buck driving Eddie to get Chris after the earthquake, Buck going with Eddie to the hospital after his abuela broke her hip, hanging out to play video games, hanging out to talk about their struggles and fears and feelings, hanging out to cook for each other + Christopher, building Christopher’s modified skateboard together, Buck and Eddie taking Chris to see Santa together, going to the bar together (+ the rest of the 118), both of them there for each other during recovery, “this is Eddie’s house, I’m not really a guest”, going to the grave of a deceased woman they met on a call, being each other’s partners at work, going to El Paso to visit his family after their work in Austin (+Hen), etc. (bonus: Buck taking Chris on trips together all the time, like the zoo)

Physical touch: please, when are these two NOT touching? That’s a shorter list. Shoulders, hands, knees, hugs, they are the most tactile duo on the show, even more than the established relationships I’d argue. They’re always in each others space. (Bonus: the way they are so gentle with Chris and pick him up and bury their face in his neck and spin him around and kiss his head. So special to me)

Words of affirmation: “there is no one in this world I trust with my son more than you”, “because, Evan, you act like you’re expendable, but you’re wrong”, “I’m sorry I wasn’t there, Eddie”, “he’s a really great dad”, “you’re badass under pressure, brother… hell yeah, you can have my back any day”, “or you can have mine”, “no one will ever fight for my son as hard as you, that’s what I want for him”, “the truth is, you haven’t been the same since the accident. But how could you be?”, etc.

We don’t see a lot of examples of gift-giving (EDIT TO ADD: the Hildy coffee maker and, of course, Eddie giving Buck his SON) (though I’m sure it’s happened lol). But it’s so beautiful to me how these two and their trauma-heavy upbringings shower each other with love and affection so unapologetically. I just love them your honor

the return of son

The death of the eldest son weighed heavy in everyone hearts, as the boy had meant so much to everyone but now he was gone. The great mother had called him home, and all her children had to come home at some point. He had given up his life to save his family and keep everyone safe from the harm of the RDA. The great mother knew it was to soon for her child to come home, as he had more to live with and that there were other waiting for his return.

Neteyam " ......." neteyam felt like he was light until he soon couldn't breath and felt something was off, that when he open his eyes and saw he was underwater. He knew he couldn't panic and soon swam toward the surface.

neteyam " ahhh" neteyam had soon reached the surface and started coughing and breathing heavily, he was in the middle one the ocean and couldn't see the village. He soon saw a small inland and swam toward it.

neteyam " what happen where is everyone else where I'm" neteyam was trying to collect his thoughts about everything, he couldn't find his family or anyone else he was completely alone. That when neteyam had gotten a flashback he remembered being shot by one of the recoms and having a hard time breathing, as he had been shot.

neteyam " I was shot" neteyam was looking at his chest to see the worn had been healed, and replace by a scar he was still alive but he had dead. He had remember feeling very sleepy as he was laying on the rock he didn't want to die, but he soon had dead leaving his family behind.

neteyam " I was dead but now I'm alive I had been killed but I'm back here alive .... I need to find my family and tell them I still alive" neteyam was going to find his family when he stopped dead in his tracks, what if he being alive bring them trouble what if he came back so will the recoms.

neteyam " no if I go back I will only bring them trouble I need to keep my family safe"

neteyam " I want to see my mom and dad ... I want to see my brother and sisters ... but I need to think about their safety" neteyam really wanted to see his siblings and parents, but was scared of what will happen if he did come near them.

neteyam " maybe I need to wait it out a couple days and see what happens" that night neteyam didn't get that much sleep as he so badly, wish to be back with his family but was scared of what will happen.

The next day

neteyam " payakan" neteyam was standing on the beach when he saw a tulkun he knew so well, it was payakan. The tulkun had noticed him as well and soon made his way towards the boy.

neteyam " hey there buddy it good to see someone I know"

payakan " neteyam you are alive"

neteyam " yes it seems like the great mother has brought me back"

payakan " that good the ocean seem to be harmony now these days, it seems like the great mother knew it was not your time yet" neteyam soon hopped onto payakan back as the duo soon swimmed away from the inland, the tulkun could tell there was something off about the boy.

payakan " so why haven't you return home to your family"

neteyam " I'm scared if I go back trouble will come to my family, I gave up my life for them what if the rda comes back"

payakan " trouble will come no matter what happens but right now your family and everyone else you love needs you ... nothing has been the same since you have been done the great mother might of seen as well"

neteyam" I was never upset or mad with you baby brother" lo'ak soon looked back and saw neteyam standing, there the boy had tears falling down his face.

neteyam " hey baby bro you not going to hug me" lo'ak soon rushed and hugged his brother the two of them falling over.

lo'ak " I'm so sorry I'm so sorry you dead because you came with me to save spider I'm sorry for saying you were not my brother"

neteyam " I don't have a solid answer but it seems like the great mother, gave me another chance and now I'm here"

Ronal and tonowari were shocked to see that boy was alive and well but they were grateful to have him back. Neteyam was given some food and medial check up, and everyone was good. It seems like ronal and mo'at haven't been able to get an answer for why, they boy had returned but it seems like only eywa will know that. You watched as Carl was talking to his father, Rick Grimes. After Carl lost his eye, Rick had been a bit tense. But you understood that. Family is family. You saw Rick hand Carl a gun. You had your arms crossed. You were sitting on a bench, just watching the father-son duo talk. "Yeah, I'll be careful, Dad. It's not like I'm going to get bitten by a walker. So, chill." He reassured his worried father. "Teenagers," he scoffed. "Be careful, okay? I want you back here by five." Carl smiled and nodded. "Y/N," he turned to look at you, "don't do anything stupid till I get back." "How can I? You're taking all the stupid with you." He gave his father one last hug before walking out of the gates of Alexandria, your home. "You're staring." You turned your head and saw Enid. "Woah! No, hi or hello, Y/N, it's so great to see you," you mocked, making Enid roll her eyes. "You really gotta stop staring at Carl. He's the leader's son, for Christ's sake!" "Sorry, mom," you muttered under your breath. You got up from the bench and went back inside your house. You looked at your watch. It was one p.m. He should be back by six, just like Carl's father said. Hopefully, he will be back soon. You missed him. No, you barely know him. Idiot.

You've had enough of this. The adults were panicking; your friends were panicking, and so were you. But you had the guts to get up and find the eyeless boy. You were going to do it. Hell, you didn't even know how to properly use a gun. Thanks to Deanna, you were a bit useless when it came to fighting. After all, you hadn't left the walls since the outbreak started. You were lucky to have found Deanna just two days after the world went to shit and blood. You opened the window and jumped in, quietly, of course. You quickly grabbed a gun and stuffed it into your backpack. You heard familiar voices outside the window. "I'll go, man. Anything for the kid." It was the deep and gruff voice of Daryl Dixon. You hadn't talked to him before because he seemed intimidating. But who knew that Daryl Dixon was just a big softie on the inside? "Nah, you ain't going to look for him. You're staying here. Me and Michonne will go. Take 'are of Alexandria, alright?" It was Rick Grimes, the father of Carl Grimes. "Fine. But if you ain't back, then I'm going after ya." You heard them start to walk away. You let out a sigh. If this was the kind of stuff the FBI did, then you wanted no part of it. But anything for Carl. He is your friend. You opened the window you used to come in and jumped out. You kept your hood up and ran.

When you were running, you also overheard Rick talking about where Carl went to scavenge. In your eyes, he was so brave. Carl was supposed to be scavenging for a bunch of stuff in an old neighborhood near Alexandria. You'd never been there before. You tripped over a rock. "Shit!" you exclaimed. You heard low growls coming from behind you. You looked behind you and saw four walkers. "Oh, shit." You scrambled to get up, but then again, you tripped over your foot and started falling down the road. At the bottom was a river. You used your leg to stop yourself from falling. You held onto a tree as you tried getting up. But again, you heard growls coming from behind you once more. You turned around and saw fifteen walkers. This is it. This was the end of your life. Y/N Y/L/N died to fifteen walkers who brutally dug into her stomach and ate her. "Oh, God. Help me." But it seemed like God wasn't listening. The wind began to pick up, and the rain started to pour in heavily. The sky has darkened to a deep shade of gray. You heard gunshots and ducked. And in a matter of seconds, the walkers fell one by one. "Woah! You look rough, girl. And didn't I tell you to not do anything stupid till I got back?" It was none other than Carl. "Oh, my. It's you! I've been looking for you for ages now. You idiot! You could have died!" You scolded like an angry mother. "Sorry, Y/N." Oh, but who could resist that adorably handsome face? "I got lost. I've been tryna find my way back to Alexandria too." You laughed. "The brave and bold-" You started coughing uncontrollably. "Poor thing." He walked over to you and gave you his jacket, but you pushed it away. "No. No, I don't need it." "Don't need it, my ass! Take it!"

It was storming heavily. You and Carl were incredibly wet due to the rain. "Are you okay?" He asked. "What?" "I said, are you okay?" he repeated. "Yeah!" you shouted. There were wet leaves on the ground, a few collapsed trees, and walkers. You barely knew how to protect yourself. But Carl was there. And he was all you needed. "Y/N!" You turned to look at him. "Over there. That's the neighborhood that I was looking for." You nodded and took his hand. The two of you ran towards it. Your shoes were muddy, your hair was a mess, and your shirt was half-ripped because of a branch, but you were still wearing Carl's jacket. You and Carl were also tired. But kept on running towards the nearest house in the neighborhood called "Clemenswood." Carl kicked open the door, and you two ran inside, panting. You were cold and started shivering. "Y/N, I'll be back. I'll see if this place has food. You stay here, okay?" He said softly. "Okay," you answered. You sat down on the cold, hard, and dusty floor. It looked like no one had lived or stayed here for a while. Moments later, you heard Carl rush in. "Good, you're still here. Anyway, I found a few stale bags of chips and two sodas. DAD DUCK AND HIS SON SUN AU

Ha ha, I usually a sucker with angst, but I think, this time, my AU will be a little bit funny.

This AU happens from the future, when Sun got captured by Nexus, and in jail, he accidentally makes friend with a new roommate.

The Creator.

His Creator, his father, the person who The only best thing Sun could think of about him was that his Father created Earth.

Get locked up in jail, drugged and craniotomized to the point of unable to think at the very basic level. (It likes with Moon when he got locked up by Eclipse, he is too in pain, he couldn't think anything)

Turn out Creator because of his own ego, got beaten up and played in Dark Sun's hand, and used by Nexus as an experiment day in and day out.

So, because Sun wants to escape, he has no choice but to save and cooperate with his father. Because between they two, Creator is the smart one.

So... To get Creator out of jail and out of these chains and test tube stick in Creator 's brain meat, Sun turns Creator into goose.

They escape together, and with these times they spend, there are a lot of yelling and crying in frustration.

(Because although Creator is so confident in his intelligence, but right now, he has to rely on Sun completely, that pathetic useless son reminds him of his failure so much.

And Sun, even though he hated his father's gut, but he knows Creator is the only way for him to get out.)

So we will have a duo who has to stick with eachother even though they hated eachother so much and will not afraid to stab eachother 's back.

And believe me when I say if you think Moon and Eclipse is bad, this duo is worse.

Because Sun will not hesitated to burn Creator alive if he makes any wrong moves, and Creator who also try to find any of Sun's weakness or strings for him to pull, in the form of a goose.

I would want to see more of Sun and Creator. And maybe seeing Creator has some kind of redempt himself, for Sun.

STUDY IN LOKI ROMANCE

Part 6: Conclusion

Since we're only a few days away from the last episode, I decided to COUNT DOWN everything we´ve got so far ( that can be interpreted very easily as romantic ) and discuss what the actual fuck is going on with second season. Because even though I shipped lokius practically from S1E2, I absolutely did NOT expect this kind of development. (Not that I´m complaining)

Warning: This is gonna be LONG post, lots of screenshots, lots of SPOILERS, lot of "oh-my-god-they-so-cute" language, and little bit of meta.

I originally thought that this post would be everything at once, but since I have just too many screenshots this time around, I´ll have to split it. so every post will be one episode. Color coding means:

side note: I already wrote, about how amazing it is, that Mobius is unable to fight but fights anyway and how beautifuly, and ridiculously brave he is HERE. But this is about Loki/Mobius interactions, so I´ll try my best not to talk about THAT. (Even when I´m really happy, that s2 continues with this formula and Mobius is still his completely defenseless while aggressively brave self. I love him, btw.) Here is count down for every episode:

So... let´s scrap the theory, that romantic tention is created only by chemistry between actors (though it IS amazing and also key ingredient) and their acting choices. Because so far, screenplay, and cinematography was supporting their story as well. I feel, like I should clarify, that I do not expect Lokius kiss, or blatant confirmation to happen. I was here during Johnlock debacle. And I was here, when Destiel ended... the way it ended. And I refuse to put in creators (especially when it comes to marvel/disney) any hope, that I know can be crushed so very easily. I´m not doing this shit again. If it happens? WOW! I´m gonna be surprised. very pleasantly surprised. I will litteraly never shut up about it

But I do not expect it. Not even now, when I saw, what are creators of Loki able to put out in the world. Like this for example:

And yeah, I am avare, Loki officialy CAN have male love interest, because it was confirmed in a text, that he´s a bi.

Still. I can´t bring myself to hope for anything explicit. But I absolutely understand anyone, who have that hope. And I know, how great feeling it is, while it lasts. Anyway. I´m gonna look at all possible options, I can think of. Even some, I feel, are more possible then others. And maybe answer is not just one. It could be more things at once.

Explanation number one: Creators took notes on how season 1 was received. And they saw, that Mobius is very popular, well-liked character, his interactions with Loki were favorite moments according to majority of an audience, and decided to lean more into that, for viewer´s sake.

Same with sylvie. Once they saw her romantic relationship with Loki isn´t that popular, they decided to give her her own agency, own story instead.

Explanation number two: They genuinely think, they are showing deep friendship between two bros and nothing more. I mean... Loki getting close circle of friends and wanting to stay with them is a one of the bigest themes this season. They are trying to make a point about Loki changing bacause of them (and probably making sacrifice for them) But there is still very intentional difference between his relationship with Mobius and everybody else. Mobius is obviously the most important one of the bunch.

Explanation number three:

Creators want romantic scene with Sylvie and Loki to be big surprise at the end, so they tried to show as much problems and conflicts between them, as they could and limited their screentime together.

But I personaly think, this would be stupid for many reasons:

Making Mobius and Loki focus this season caused people to rooth for them, and be invested in their relationship more.

They showed multiple times, that Sylvie wants from life very different things, then Loki and their philosophical views differ greatly.

It doesn´t look like creators put enough effort into building up this kind of ending to be satisfying. It would just feel like they´re trying to surprise / shock audience. Explanation number four: They think that what they are doing with Mobius and Loki is father/son dynamic. (I´m sorry, but this would be just hilarious. If this is the case, I would love to know, what they were thinking, when they decided to leave Owen´s line: "You´re just a little pussycat" in there. Or when they look at all those acting choices and said YES, THANK YOU. THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT WE NEED.)

Explanation number five: They´re queerbaiting the hell out of us. And their master plan is to make us all watch and having hope and then they will throw in the finale some last minute no homo explanation and wil laugh in our faces.

(I suppose I don't have to say how much I like this option *sarcasm*)

Explanation number six:

Creators would like to make Lokius canon, but they are restricted / they´re not allowed to. So they decided to go as far, as they can. To give us little (big) nods, to give us those beutiful scenes. To double down on everything lokius related. And they know what they can get away with before casual viewers notice that there is something gay happening. (I mean... it looks like they can get away with anything but kiss at this point :D Like seriously. I saw people talking about how beautiful Dean and Castiel´s friendship was EVEN after finale, so...)

Explanation number seven:

They are doing Love triangle thing, where they will try ultimitely "please everyone" by giving us some scene that could be potentialy seen as romantic between Loki and Sylvie AND between Loki and Mobius (while leaving it for interpretation) In Czech republic, we call it: "when the wolf ate well, but goat is still alive."

Explanation number eight: They ARE able to make Lokius canon, but they actually like podtext more, then posibility to make it transparent, and that is just the way, they want to tell this story.

Explanation number nine: They were planning to make Lokius a thing (if not from the start, then after season one) and they made whole season this way, so more people would rooth for them. And it will end with some form of confirmation of their love story. ( as I mentioned above, I can´t see this happening, but that is my bad experience talking. If it happens, I deffinitely won´t be mad about being wrong here, I can promise you that :D )

I gues we will know more about their intent after episode 6. Right now, I´m actually just hoping, that story will stay consistent as much as it can. And characters won´t die. On the contrary I hope, they will end up happy, because they did earn it. I have to say, that I enjoyed this season even more then the first. And I really do hope, that finale wont make me change my mind. Regardles of intention, this show is high quality and it is obvious how much care was poured into every aspect of this season from effects, cinematography, costums, sets, music, acting... I think, that this show is a best thing marvel did in a long, LONG time.

Also please, pleaseeee let this season end at the place, where it will be possible to see Loki and Mobius in other MCU project (I would honestly watch anything, where they appear together)

And lastly: If it doesn´t end the way you wanted, please please don´t let anger to rule your actions. Do criticize as much as you want, but please don´t harrass anybody. At the end of the day, creators of this show are also just people. Don´t say anything, you wouldn´t say into their faces. If it will end badly, watch your favourite, comfort gay show, celebrate how much Lokius fix-it fanfiction we´ll have! And how much art already exists because of those first five episodes.

Or take that frustration and turn it to motivation: maybe you can create something better!

We've all seen Sora take the kids and marry Zeff or leaving Zeff custody of Sanji but hear me out: Sora doesn't die and is the one to break Sanji out of the dungeon and escapes with him. They're in some no name town in the East Blue and Sanji sneaks on to Mihawk's little coffin boat to loot him and take it back to his mom and gets caught. Mihawk walks him back to Sora who apologizes profusely and Mihawk can see that shes ill and that they're clearly out of their depth and for whatever reason, his mind cannot fathom it honestly, he offers to take the Kuraigana with him. Sora and Sanji agree too, for whatever reason, maybe they're scared because they know who he is, or they're just that desperate. Either way they agree and leave with him.

They make a supply stop a couple islands away because Mihawk realizes they have nothing except a shared back pack of clothes and that's it. Sanji is trying not to hide behind his mom from Mihawk but he's a kid who's been through a lot and Mihawk reminds him of his brothers and Judge. Mihawk gets them a few outfits and picks up some more food because of how thin they both are. When they check into an inn and Sanji's asleep Sora finds Mihawk and thanks him and says she had to save her son.

Not even a month after they're all settled in his home Mihawk finds himself extremely endeared to this duo and hopes they never leave, it takes him another three to say it and Sora cries happily and Sanji nods. Sora has taken over most of the cleaning and Sanji cooks with Mihawk a lot and Sora has improved greatly. The dynamic isnt perfect by any means but it works for them. Sometimes Sanji's nightmares will wake Mihawk up before they wake him up so Mihawk will sit with him until they do or he calms down. Sora knows a lot about caring for weapons and instruments so she'll tune the piano or clean his antique swords.

Woops Mihawk is in love and suddenly has a wife and child he didn't think he would and Newgate is going to laugh at him. Doesn't even necessarily think of the implications or anything just tells them at dinner over their plates. They don't leave until Sanji decides to go work at Baratie when he's a teen and then joins the straw hat crew. Life goes on. Everyone thinks Sanji's an orphan still since he doesn't talk about his parents. His parents read the paper.

When Perona appears Sora confirms it's not her pink haired daughter but she'll take another. And then look! Zoro's here, Sanji's nakama and the kid Mihawk almost killed, how charming. Zoro's really confused because Mihawk in the castle is different from the master training him and he's a lot softer and kind towards Sora. Sora asks them both about their adventures in pirating and such.

Zoro asks point blank if she's Sanji's mom and she laughs and mentions how that's so Sanji to not talk about them and Mihawk mentions how smart that is because otherwise oops, they're either down a son or Mihawk's bounty is unfrozen. Sora jokes that need two more to make up for the other two she has and Mihawk tells her that they cannot keep collecting kids.

Zoro is absolutely gonna kick Sanji's ass.

That's a whole-ass fix right there, damn! I actually love any au where Sora doesn't die, I don't wanna see her go ngl hahaha ':)

And I genuinely think she can melt almost anyone's heart. But have you thought about the Sanji repressions??? He's already canonically bitchy but now he'll have all the sass from Mihawk as well????? I think that'd be absolutely hilarious!

Plus that would mean that Mihawk was going to the Baratie to check in on his son, that's so cute omg :') And that could also be an excuse for why he didn't kill Sanji's "new friend" during his fight with Zoro.

Also why do I feel like Mihawk would try his damned best to make Sanji call him father instead of dad and Sanji would do it just to spite him.

Sanji: thanks for uh... you know... not killing my new crewmates

Mihawk: I guess it couldn't be helped

Sanji: Whatever, bye dad

Mihawk absolutely not having the heart to correct him at this point:... yeah.

Also Sora adopting Perona during ts makes me so happy. She would brush and braid her hair thinking if she'll ever have the chance to do it with her biological daughter. So that only makes her want to savour every moment with Perona while she can. And I think Perona would love Sora as well, she loves cute and pretty things so they'd make a great dynamic just absolutely driving Mihawk up the wall by redecorating... or as he calls it "ruining the aesthetic" or his castle.

Also... for the haha's: Sanji knowing way yoo much about swords would confused the hell out of Zoro. Not to mention that once Zoro finds out about his connection to Mihawk, I feel like he'd want to fight him even more than he already does. Bonus if Sanji is actually a really skilled swordman.

I'm an absolute sucker for the trope of a parent getting hurt/on the verge of death and the child saying something along the lines of "I still need you!" Bonus points if they revert to calling their parent something they used to as a young child but have since stopped like "Mama" or "Daddy"

We are absolutely using this. If not in the Dark world then defiantly in the post cannon Tournament arc.

The DM crew and Gx crew have been separated into different pocket dimensions and are fighting to get the world back together.

Jaden and Yugi have been siting out. Both are shaken. Jaden just watched his whole family shatter like his friends did in the dark world. He’s spiraling. Yugi isn’t much better. Not until they can confirm that Jaden isn’t dead

In the final fight with the Big Bad (tbd) Jaden is battling in his dimension and Yugi is battling in his. They can see each other through a rift but they are each fighting their own battle.

Yugi gets hit hard. Like falls down and doesn’t get up right away hard.

Jaden freaks out. He can’t get to his dad, they are in separate dimensions. He’s spent most of this adventure believing his family is dead and only recently found out their not. He can’t handle watching his dad die again. But there is nothing he can physically do to help.

So he just screams “daddy please get up. Please I can’t lose you. I still need you.”

And at this point Jaden has been away for a while. He started traveling the world right after Duel Academy and has been distant since the Dark World. He still loves his family but he’s having a hard time reaching out because of his guilt and Trauma. The DM cast have done their best to be there for him but he’s not letting anyone in.

So Yugi hearing his son break down and calling for him is a big deal. He’s not going to let his baby boy down. He gets back up into shaky feet and finishes the fight.

Once the two groups are back in the same dimension Jaden rushes his dad and the two collapse to the floor in relief. Someone else can handle the post saving the world crap. The father son duo is done for now thank you.

And you know what I like this so much you get a second version.

Where Yugi and Jaden are kidnapped post cannon and Seto, Atem, Jesse and the others are trying to gather them back

Maybe Seto has to duel the kidnapper. During the duel Yugi is being forced to watch like Téa in the Joey vs Yugi Duel but no one has seen Jaden yet.

Until Seto is about to win the duel with a direct attack. The enemy pulls out Jaden and uses the kid like a human shield. If Seto wants to attack he will have to blast Jaden. These are real attacks not holograms, he would be blasting Jaden with Blue eyes at full force.

This is after the Dark world and all the craziness that happened there where Seto and Yugi argued about dueling the supreme king. But this isn’t the Supreme King this is his Jaden. His baby. Who is already hurt and looking at him with scared exhausted eyes.

Seto can’t attack.

Jaden freaks out. ‘You have to attack Oto-san. Please I can take it.”

The enemy’s turn comes and he’s able to get off a devastation blow to Seto. Yugi is crying out for him and Jaden is Sobbing. “Oto-san!!!”

Seto is still standing (playing emergency provisions or something to boost his life points at the last possible second.)

Jaden is begging him to attack. He can’t watch one of his parents die. But Seto could never hurt Jaden. An evil possessed Supreme King they need to knock sense into is one thing but his already injured baby is a no.

He’s trying to think something out, but there is no way out.

Until Atem gets there and gets Yugi out of harms way and Jesse arrives to tackle Jaden out of their enemies hold. As soon as Jaden and Jesse clear the blast zone Seto has an attack lined up and he’s blasting their enemy to kingdom come.

Afterwards Jaden is sobbing into him asking why he didn’t just attack. He’s fused with Yubel now he could have take it. (It still would have hurt but it wouldn’t kill him he’d just be in agony)

Seto runs his hand through his boy’s hair and tell him he could never hurt him. (They need to get Jaden into therapy because their boy is way to willing to take on pain and suffering for other people)

Add-on to my previous what-if of Tengen Uzui adopting Gyutaro and Ume Shabana - read the first part here.

I imagine that Gyutaro wouldn’t directly tell Tengen about his crazy skills with the sickle, (despite his denial) mostly because he’s worried that they’ll be more wary of him or think bad of him or take it the wrong way or think he’ll murder them all in their sleep or hurt them like he did to the - never mind, that’s just his intrusive, depressive thoughts.

So there would probably be only three scenarios in which the Uzui household will find out about his sickle skills if 1. He does some gardening/farming 2. Ume boasts about how her brother protected her back in the Red Light District 3. Gyutaro accidentally makes an offhand remark about it. But we’ll get back to that later. 

By now Gyutaro and Ume would’ve known about their adoptive family’s job, alternating between staying at home with the Uzui wives or overnighting at the Butterfly Mansion if all their parents are away. You can’t convince me that Ume doesn’t like to flex about her dad being the most flamboyant Hashira of all flamboyant Hashira. 

“Ha! My daddy never gets sick! He’ll never die and never lose! My flamboyant, powerful daddy…can do anything he wants!”

To this day Gyutaro is still very protective over Ume, as he’s still harboring the deep rooted fear that one day this heaven would vanish in a puff of smoke,  so once he’s heard about man-eating demons you bet your life’s savings he’s paranoid as hell about Ume at night now.

What if one day a demon broke into their Estate and slaughtered everyone? What if Ume got turned into a demon? What if he got turned into a demon? What if a demon killed Tengen? What if, what if, what if-

And then he has to remind himself Tengen is a Hashira and the Uzui wives were trained as shinobi, nothing could possibly befall them, as Ume liked to brag! 

Okay, but what if they weren’t around and Ume and him were left to fend for themselves? 

It’s alright! He’s pretty sick with a sickle, he’ll make a demon sorry it even cast eyes on his baby sister-

Oh wait, didn’t Tengen say that demons could only be killed with Nichirin swords?

And so this loop of doubt and reassurances would go round and round and round until Gyutaro ultimately decides that to be doubly, triply, quadruple-y sure nothing demonic will ever befall his sister, he's going to become a slayer.

Gyutaro would one day get bored of watching Hinatsuru, Makio and Suma play dolls with Ume for the hundredth time (there’s only so many times he can take listening to Ume’s princess dreams, no matter how much he loves her) and wander away to find Tengen training some poor slayers he’s berating for “swinging your swords and using your breathing techniques in the most un-flamboyant way possible”. He didn't even realize how his thoughts were going to spiral until he accidentally interrupts with a blurted “Teach me how to become a slayer.”

Tengen would definitely be surprised but pleased, banging on and on about the flamboyance they would share as “the flashiest father and son duo to ever slay demons!” To the point Gyutaro almost reconsiders. Almost.

Breaking the news over dinner (Tengen CANNOT keep his mouth shut, much to Gyutaro’s embarrassment), stunned silence would reign supreme until the girls explode in excitement and anxiety.

“WAAAAAAH, MY BABY'S GROWING UP!” -Suma

“Har? GOOD JOB, GYU-KUN!” -Makio

“Are you sure? It's not a life we'd want to expose you to-” -Hinatsuru

But the biggest surprise came from the loudest voice:

“THEN I WANNA BE LIKE ONII-CHAN!!!”

Bad enough that one of their kids was going to put themselves on the line, so the Uzui wives and Gyutaro did their best to discourage Ume, but stubbornness and cuteness will get you where you want, much to the others reluctance. Tengen, unhelpful as he is in child discipline and the fine line between proud-that-my-kids-are-gonna-slay-demons and my-kids-are-gonna-slay-demons-I’m-worried, simply burst out into booming laughter, scooping up Ume and playfully tugging at Gyutaro’s topknot. 

And so this was how Tengen landed himself with not one, but two Tsugoku.

To stick with the actual storyline as much as possible, Gyutaro and Ume probably wouldn't take over Sound Breathing, despite their (extremely intense) training in it, probably going off to invent their own techniques.

I'd like to think Shinobu would take a liking to Gyutaro because of how overprotective he is of Ume, and Gyutaro vice versa (low-key, she scared him with the smiling when they first met) so she would've influenced his breathing technique when he created it: Poison Breathing.

Let's not forget how much Mitsuri would love Ume! Ume would be so obsessed with her hair and both would eat mochi galore gossiping and squealing over boys (Gyutaro forced to clean up her mess after she went to go wheedle Obanai). Mitsuri would definitely find them both very cute and cry at their horrible history; pinching their cheeks would become her new pastime (Obanai’s jealous but we don't talk about that) - and would be over the moon to find out Ume has declared her her idol and invented Ribbon Breathing, inspired by Love Breathing!

However, I don’t think and if you’ve already guessed that Gyutaro and Ume aren’t going to use the typical Nichiron blades: Tengen requesting (bothering) the swordsmiths to commission the most flamboyant pair of sickles and whip-like sword (reference to Mitsuri’s, but more whip-like to suit Ribbon Breathing) to ever be commissioned. The Uzui household had never been prouder the first time the siblings displayed their skill and beheaded their first demon. 

Gyutaro’s canon design includes baggy pants and those collar-looking red cloth, so in this theory they would be replaced with the same type of gemstone-headband and gold band Tengen wears, with a similar sleeveless uniform and equally baggy pants. I think Gyutaro, weirdly, would go slaying barefoot because no matter how civilized he is now he never did get used to the feeling of shoes.  He probably slings his sickles at his back too, Tengen-style. 

Say Ume’s former uniform was made by Masao, and all hell broke loose when Gyutaro and Tengen found out. Masao’s new glasses were proof enough of that. The Uzui wives demanded a remake, and when they didn’t get one (Masao going on strike) they tailored her uniform themselves to cover up and added the obi belt Warabihime is so famous for. Let’s not forget Ume flaunting her red eyeliner her daddy drew on!

Tengen begins to insist and receive missions if possible where all three of them can go together (“We’ll out-flash any dull, un-flamboyant demon together!”), so obviously when he decides to go hunt for his wives (Let’s all take a moment to imagine the tantrum Ume would throw when she finds out her moms are putting themselves in danger and Gyutaro freaking out silently but obsessively scratching at himself once again) at the Red Light District, despite his misgivings and qualms about taking the siblings back to their personal hell, they all wound up going together anyway because Ume can scream pretty shrilly and Gyutaro threatened to steal Tengen’s jewelry. 

So remember that scene where Tanjiro arrives to see Tengen “kidnapping” the Butterfly Girl and Aoi? 

Re-imagine it now, but have Gyutaro holding up the Butterfly Girl by her collar and Ume riding Tengen’s shoulders as he tosses Aoi over the other one.

“OH MY GOD, JUST SHUT UP!” Ume glared at Aoi contemptuously, tossing her head slightly. “Aren’t you a slayer? You should be proud you’ve been chosen for such a mission! You guys are so miserable; you mustn't have tried very hard if this is all you’ve got! How unfortunate!”

“Please stop it!”

“Let them go!”

Tengen sighs heavily at the cries of the other Butterfly Girls, turning around to walk away. Noticing this, Gyutaro immediately shakes Aoi violently, threatening to drop her off the perch he had on top of the wall. “OI! STOP SCREAMING, OR WE’LL SEE WHAT SHE’LL LOOK LIKE SPLAT ON THE GROUND!”

“No need for violence, kid.” Tengen patted Gyutaro’s head with a “stern” expression. “Let’s go! Your mothers are a-waiting!”

Ume clapped her hands gleefully; Gyutaro leaped off and trailed along beside the Sound Pillar, only to stop short when someone was very irritatingly tugging on his uniform. He whipped his head around with a snarl. Kira? Kanae? Whatever her name was, she was seriously pissing him off, trying to rebel against Tengen’s orders!

“HEY! LET GO! DON’T PULL AT US SO PLAINLY LIKE THAT!” Ume snapped viciously.

“You have your orders.” Tengen scowled at Kocho’s tsugoku. 

A beat of silence, then another, and another.

“DADDY, SHE’S CREEPY!”

“NEH, JUST SAY SOMETHING!”

“DON’T FREAK MY KIDS OUT, YOU PLAIN BORING PERSON!”

Gyutaro nearly brought out his sickles right there right now when the Butterfly Girls pathetically charged at him and Tengen. 

“WHAT’RE YOU DOING TO THE GIRLS?! GET YOUR HANDS OFF THEM!”

Great, what now? Oh right, it was that annoying forehead kid. 

“Save them!!! It’s a kidnapping!!!”

“SHUT UP! IT SHOULD BE AN HONOR FOR ALL YOU USELESS SCUM TO BE CHOSEN FOR A MISSION AND TO SLAY ALONGSIDE A HASHIRA! ONII-CHAN, GET HER TO SHUT UP!”

Gyutaro grunted, glowering at Kamado. Tengen came to his rescue, pressing a quick kiss to Ume’s forehead before yelling again. “YOU DUMB LITTLE BRAT!”

Okay, but he honestly didn’t expect Tengen to get headbutted or find himself hoisted and thrown up in the air.

“Good dodge,” he muttered, landing just in time next to the Sound Pillar. Aoi fidgeted and struggled, trying to get out of his grasp. “STOP MOVING, OR I’LL REALLY DROP YOU, WOMAN!”

“YOU FOOL!” Ume spat. “Do you even know who you’re dealing with?!”

“...”

“Idiots,” she huffed.

“I am the “former shinobi” Uzui Tengen-sama. The man who is known as the most flamboyant around these parts. And these are my very flashy children and future successors!”

Tengen loomed menacingly over them as Ume giggled with a gleam in her blue eyes and Gyutaro cackled. 

“Did you think that I would get headbutted by a snot-filled brat like you? You’ve picked the wrong family to mess with.”

For the sake of this storyline we’re just going to say Nakime is Upper Moon Six, Gyokko the one who killed Kanae (totally not because I want to see Shinobu roast the shit out of his pots and vases) and only Hantengu who attacked the Swordsmith Village to make everything work, and have Douma be lurking around the Entertainment District as a “customer” whose appearance is way too coincidental with the sudden increase in suicide and deaths. 

Ume would probably pose as a serving girl due to her young age, and is excellent at playing cute, innocent and unsuspecting, probably getting the closest to Douma due to this. She would only be around to keep an eye on the Kamaboko Squad for Tengen though, being the only true girl there. Please imagine with me her boasting to Tanjiro about her “best big brother in the whole world”, enthusiastically styling Nezuko’s hair, screaming at Zenitsu to back off (Tengen picks on him because of this, Gyutaro reminds Zenitsu about his sickle skills way too sadistically) and arguing with Inosuke for being too rough in disguise. Underneath her loudmouthed exterior though, it’s obvious to everyone that she’s genuinely afraid of what happened to her mothers. 

Gyutaro knows he won’t be able to fit in with the others, so he mostly patrols around with Tengen or ensures nobody inappropriately touches Ume. Surely Tengen wouldn’t mind if a pervert or two goes missing - oh, fine, he could almost hear Hinatsuru, Makio and Suma scolding him. He can still chop off a finger or two, right? No? Intense diarrhea from poisoning then?

The odds of it were so impossible, but yet it was true. Everyone was alive. ALIVE. Ume, Tengen, Hinatsuru, Makio, Suma…everyone. 

Gyutaro wiped his face of blood, sweat and tears, succumbing to Makio’s frantic shaking down and questioning of his state, letting himself lean against Tengen while his sister babbled nonsensically and made him promise about a hundred times that he wouldn’t die without her.

So happy. Everyone was alive, they were going to be okay, everything was going to work out, they could live out that dream in the countryside they were always talking about-

“Should I praise you or something? What were you thinking, losing your left arm and eye? Even if this was a fight against an Upper Moon. How long will it take for you to recover? Who will take your place while you’re doing that? Your…kids are good, but not that good.”

“HEY! YOU DON’T TALK TO DADDY LIKE THAT!” Ume still had it in her to argue with one snarky Serpent Pillar apparently, dragging herself up to a sitting position to stare judgmentally at him, snapped sword in hand. “YOU WEREN’T THE ONE FIGHTING UPPER MOON TWO!” 

“Neh, sis, don’t move so fast.” Gyutaro groaned, prying himself from Suma’s smothering grip and Hinatsuru’s frantic examination of any injuries. “You’ll hurt yourself more.”

Still, he shot Obanai his best death stare too. Tengen barked a laugh and slung an arm around his skinny shoulders. “It’s alright. I’m retiring, man. I just can’t fight anymore. Oyakata-sama will probably allow me to do so as well.”

“But it’s alright.” Tengen gestured at the siblings proudly. “The young ones are growing up. Gyutaro and Ume will take my place with flamboyance! The Poison Hashira and Ribbon Hashira will be coming soon.”

“Especially the boy you absolutely despise, though, Iguro.” Tengen winked. “ Now if you’ll excuse us, we’re having a family reunion.”

As if on cue Suma and Ume burst into tears once more and Tengen did his best to join in on the group hug with his remaining arm.

Gyutaro had never considered his life lucky before, but now he’d call it fortunate. It was one hell of a miracle…but everyone was alive.

I got reminded BBCs Merlin exists and that spiraled into remembering a bunch of other really, really shitty adaptations of Arthurian canon and now I'm mad so I'm going to list some true facts about it that should hopefully demonstrate why adding "gritty realism" to it pisses me off so much

-Morgan le Fay serves as a Rita Repulsa-esque figure who throws problems at Arthur. She is also a wholly separate person to Morgause, the mother of Mordred. Morgan le Fay is a badass sorceress who's only motivation for being a Saturday Morning Cartoon Villain(tm) is that Guinevere snubbed her in some way.

-It's full of Welsh folklore, especially regarding faeries, and initially started as a recounting of a bit of Welsh military history before people started adding their OCs to it. It then broke containment and spread across europe, especially during the renaissance.

-Loads of the knights have superpowers. Straight up superpowers. Gawain gets stronger (and in some sources, bigger) the higher the sun is in the sky. Kay has some sort of fire shit going on... It's great. People would add their own guys to the round table and give them Cool Powers because they could. Though mostly it was just super-strength. This fell out of favor as it was Christianized because people are COWARDS.

-Lancelot is a French guy's OC, and despite the whole thing being full of those, Lancelot is the most OC of them all (affectionate). The second most OC of the bunch is a dude known for his edgy coat that he always wore that belonged to his dead dad (I am not joking)

-Half of the dudes are described as 'the fairest' or 'the most handsome'. Some have the caveat of 'second only to Arthur'. I legit read a description of how handsome a random knight was that filled a full page once. This is hilarious.

-There's a knight called Bedivere (he whose name has no set spelling) and he's my favorite. He has a prosthetic hand, is head butler, and is the only bitch to survive the big last battle in retellings that I respect. He's also one half of a comedy duo with Kay, also in retellings that I respect. I am admittedly biased because I played him in a middle school production of a really bad adaptation of a knockoff spamalot

-People just fucking murder each other on accident all of the time to show off how STRONK they are. After jousting got added they started having the horses die when lance met shield which DOESN'T MAKE SENSE but is there to, once again, show how STRONK the knights are.

-More on the note of casting, but there are dark skinned people in the canon. Specifically Moors (which is old europe for muslim north-african people with dark skin, a term not really used anymore because it wasn't actually one ethnic group but several). MORE SPECIFICALLY there is one explicitly biracial knight who's the son of one of the other knights and a (and I quote) "Moorish Princess". His name is Morien because people have never been subtle and was one of the knights for whom the tales waxed poetic about how stronk and handsome he was.

-Saved the best for last but this all gave way to the an early historical examples of larping and possibly kinning. King Edward the Third loved a knight named 'Sir Lionel' so much to the point where he'd hold big round table tourneys where everyone would larp as different characters from Arthurian legend (himself always being Lionel) and even named his son after him. The kicker? Lionel doesn't actually have that much in the way of story. He has like one story to himself and is functionally a sidekick in every other appearance I can find. King Eddy 3 had a Blorbo.

All of this to say that Arthurian canon is lovely and goofy and if I see someone make Morgan le Fay into Mordred's mom again I will spew fire and rain hot, bloody terror from the skies. I also think we should start adding OCs to it again and nobody can stop us.
