Do you have any complaints about how characters were handled in s3?

i loved the goofy plantars shenanigans but i wished we saw a bit more regarding their feelings towards the boonchuys, something like thai feud, but a bit more in the feels and personal (but i wouldnt want them to remove what we got to get that, and, once again i really wish we got s3a and s3b as separate seasons)

anddd i think i would have wanted to see marcy saved a few episodes before all in, a scenario where the girls actually talk and have more conflict shown on the screen, instead of 'lets talk about it later'. it would have been nice to give marcy a chance to shine and show her growth that isnt just in a timeskip, and isnt hindered by hiding the secret of the box being her fault

(One day, in their Amphibia house, Sashannarcy is preparing for a summer BBQ. Suddenly, the doorbell rings)

Anne: "I'll get it." (Goes to the front door and is met with a skinny frog with a yellow afro hairstyle and is the same shade of orange as Hop Pop) "...um...can I help you?"

Stanley: "Hello, Mrs. Boonchuy; I'm your cousin Stanely."

Anne: "....Oh."

Stanley: "Well, technically, I'm the cousin of your frog-siblings, uh, Sprig and Polly, but hey, any cousin of theirs is a cousin of yours, right?"

Anne: "Right."

Stanley: "Anyways, I heard that after you, you know, saved the world and everything, you and your lovely ladies came to settle in. So I've come all this way to drop in for a visit and formally introduce myself. How about we pull up a few chairs, get some food, and get to know each other?"

Anne: "I'm a little busy here today, that might take a while to prepare."

Stanley: "No problem. I'll just rest up in your guest room while you take care of your--" (Sees Anne pull up the garden hose) "...uh, gardening? I assume?--"

(Anne sprays Stanley with the hose at full blast, knocking Stanley to the ground. He kicks and screams as Anne keeps spraying. When she finally stops, it's revealed that Stanley's orange skin was actually more of a bluish-green covered in orange paint)

Stanley: (Chuckles nervously as Anne gives him a death glare) "Would you believe it's a skin condition?" (Anne sprays him again) "ACK! OK OK! I'M GOING!" (Anne chases him out of the lawn with the hose until he finally runs out of the lawn and keeps running)

Anne: "And don't come back, you freeloader!"

(Marcy and Sasha saw the whole thing from the sidelines)

Marcy: "...Uh...Anna-Banana? What was--"

Anne: "Long story. Don't ask. Look, let's put the barbecue on hold, girls, I need to blow off some steam first."

Sasha: "How about this: we help you 'blow off some steam' in the bedroom if you explain to us who that guy was afterwards."

Anne: "Wear those pirate outfits I like and you got a deal~"

I’m picturing Anne spraying “cousin” Stanley like Allen sprayed Gwimbly in S2 of Smiling Friends and that image made me laugh for a while.

I. Have some complaints! I think it's bs that Mother Olm just showed up and was like. Hey kid. Wanna know how to die? I refuse to believe Sasha and Marcy would willingly surrender Anne to such a fate when the story has been them learning to fight together as friends. I agree that the kids would split up in high school years, but this isn't then! This is the final confrontation! Their coup de grâce! I would've had each of the girls take part of the final shot, marking all of them for life. A scar to remember the war they won together.

I also hate splitting Amphibia from Earth. Why would you give Anne Boonchuy little siblings if they're never gonna see each other again? Why would you have her become a Plantar and them become Boonchuys if the worlds will never mix? Why would you have Hop Pop, Sprig, and Polly bust in to save Bee and Oum as a "We'll protect the family we have left" only to never have that family interact again? It feels cruel. It feels mean. It feels like we're robbing these people of their homes.

It's not the end of the world, of course! I just picture that Terry got the portal working post the finale and everyone met up again. But it felt bittersweet in a mean way.

WIP WEDNESDAY

Week 8

Took me a while to find something I felt okay with this week. I have a lot of ideas, all Amphibia based, but haven't had the time to write them recently. So for this week, have a small follow up snippet from Week 3 and then a list of ideas I'm hoping to write!

"Scars come from battles Sasha! Fr-from experiences! Proof that we lived through something....significant enough to bear its burden on our flesh! They say what's a life will lived if you're unable to reflect on what it leaves behind?" Anne yelled, waving her arms fruitlessly at the shocked blonde. "Anne died! She left a mark on the world-TWO worlds, and was riddled with scars. If I were her I should have thousands of them littering my skin, as she literally crumbled to dust in Sprig's arms. But I don't."

She stopped pacing, a sob choking her words as Sasha tried to reach out for her, only pulling back from her touch with a grimace.

"I'm unmarked Sash. Smooth as a newborn. I don't even have her scars from childhood. I'm meant to be a copy of her..."

She paused, wiping at her nose with her sleeve before taking a deep, hiccupping breath to murmur, "A perfect copy of her. Yet I'm still such a failure."

Ideas that are yet to be fully written:

*Escapism- A story of best friends Marcy and Sasha fleeing their small town with blood on their hands and a madman on their trail, leading them to the city. Struggling to reconnect with each other and their pasts, they find that the city isn't all that welcoming and that you can't hide forever. Thankfully a crash meeting with a bubbly brunette may be the solution they're after.

*Missing Time to Missing You- a story about the missing years from Sasha's POV. WIPS 2,3,4 and today all tie into this :)

*Reconnecting- A small reflective piece from each girls' POV of how they reunite after 10 years. Lots of pining

*Cardamon and Lemongrass- Anne and her mum bonding over cooking, and reconnecting after Amphibia

*NWT- Sasha grieving the loss of Anne and Marcy while in Wartwood with the pets they left behind. Inspired by this pic cause it got me in the feels

*NWT- Mermaids. The girls playing mermaids during a trip to the beach. Sasha is the pirate because she's the unwanted invader according to her parents

*NWT- How Anne Boonchuy became goth.

*NWT- All I have saved on my phone is the lines 'It started with a game of chicken. Because it wouldn't be them if it didn't.' I'm not sure where that one was going, but it's definitely Sashanne coded.

AND I SAW IT ALL! EVERY HARDSHIP SHE FACED, INJURY SHE SUSTAINED, BOUT OF TRAUMA SHE ENDURED AND WORKED PAST! Speaking real quick as a Demiromantic Asexual, IT ALL MADE ME ABSOLUTELY ADORE HER!

I legitimately don't think I'll ever love anyone as much as I love Anne. Our connection is as deep and genuine as it can get in my eyes. Her name flows so naturally when I say it out loud, and thinking about her in any capacity just makes me so giddy. Plus, while I'm usually not into cosmology and zodiac stuff, she's been confirmed to be a Gemini and I'm a Libra, and every source I can find states Geminis and Libras work super well together.

To be quite frank, I think we're legitimately soulmates, separated only by the veil between fiction and reality, but that's okay.

The rest of the Amphibia fandom may not be too keen on Selfshipping as a whole (thanks, Darrel, ya lousy fuck ┗|｀O′|┛), but I won't let that stop my eternal love and devotion.

But they stop fighting too, and maybe that's worth it. I mean, they stopped going to Amphibia, but they also stopped the fighting going on there. You get what I mean

So the general consensus is that Hailey is presently too selfish to be able to enter a relationship in a healthy way, and I agree! I've got a lot of season 1 Anne Boonchuy vibes from her. She has this sort of skewed image of friendship.

And in Hailey's case, it seems reasonable that she would. Her best friend and only real friend has only ever been Scott, who is very much just this sort of yes man in her life, always sort of going along with her. We do see him start to challenge this in a few of the episodes, as well as Hailey make efforts to rectify the behavior. She is definitely growing! But she clearly struggles to understand that others are not like Scott. They won't just go with her flow because she wants them to, and they can't be easily manipulated like him.

Another thing to consider is that she is only 14. If someone claiming to be from the future burst out of my closet when I was 14, telling me the entire world was going to succumb to a fiery apocalypse unless I alone reversed global warming, I honestly probably would've just laid down in traffic.

It isn't exactly right, but I think it totally makes sense for Hailey to be as self-centered as she is right now. She has to save the world and the ONLY person that she can share that with right now is Scott. And to be honest, though he is more than happy to help her wherever he can, he probably isn't very great for the more in depth emotional support someone in that situation might need.

We aren't even one full season in, and the characters have so much room for growth!
