From Brad Field:
One of the biggest surprises of the Chicago Battlestar Convention was the arrival of Michael Hogan. (Col. Saul Tigh) In 2020 after attending a Battlestar Convention in Vancouver Michael had a bad fall where he suffered a severe head injury. This resulted in a TBI and paralysis, including the loss of speech and severe memory loss. I would love to say that he has made a complete recovery, but he continues to struggle. He has regained his speech and made quite and effort to say hello to all the fans, going so far to even wear his 20 year old costume (eye patch and all). He can no longer sign his autograph, but would either sign "XO" or with the assistance of his wife (Fellow actress Susan Hogan who portrayed Captain Franks in the series) He managed to stamp a picture for me. He also made a special point to acknowledge fans who are veterans or are in public service. An impromptu auction was made in which other cast members donated items from their personal collections. This raised an amazing $46,000 Dollars! (A girl next to me bid $8,000 on a signed script!) A film crew followed him, filming a documentary about Michael and Susan. Once it comes out many fans will see themselves applauding Mr. Hogan and his Wife. I have the deepest respect for Susan Hogan. Not only was she dealing with Michael's condition, but also that of her Daughter who in the same year Michael had his accident had suffered a severe medical incident, that she is still struggling to overcome. Everywhere he went people applauded. Those in Uniform saluted. And he remained in character, telling people to "Shut the Frack up!" "Look sharp!" "It's in the damn ship!" On many occasions his Wife would have tears running down her face, as did many others.

Y TĂș, MamĂĄ? Part 2 - Yandere!Lalo Salamanca x reader
part one linked here
summary: you wake up in a strange place and Lalo is the first person you see.
warnings: kidnapping, forced restraint
tags: @jaythegreat @gothams-gotchya @oceandolores @matt-lipstick @joonie7007 @mavericksicybabe
authorâs note: the two year wait is finally over! sorry itâs so short. if anyone has any more ideas on how to continue this or what theyâd like to see, please let me know! :)
Your evil, sadistic and wickedly smart husband had eyes on you every moment of every day.
And, in your momentary lapse of judgement, you had forgotten that. Lalo never let you out of his sight without a few of his men keeping eyes on you and his precious daughter.
After calling Saulâs girlfriend and setting up a meeting, you walked with Leticia hand-in-hand out to your car.
Before you even knew what was happening, Laloâs men grabbed you and threw a bag over your head. The last sound you heard was Lettie screaming as your world went dark.
â
You woke up to the sound of birds chirping and children giggling. As you looked around the room, something about it was strangely familiar.
The mix of Southwestern and Mexican artwork, the patchwork quilt on the bed, even the view of the countryside outside of the window.
You looked down at the chains binding you to the bed and realized that this was Laloâs house in Chihuahua. You were in Mexico.
âGood morning, my love,â Lalo cooed as he opened the bedroom door, a glass of water in his hand.
His unmistakable musk followed him, expensive cologne of tobacco and leather. Your body shook with fear each time he took a step closer.
âLalo⊠why are we here? Whereâs Lettie?â
âLettie is fine, sheâs with Abuelita and her cousins. Now, are you going to apologize?â your husband said, an edge to his tone.
He crosses his arms, raising an eyebrow as he stares at you. You try your hardest to sit up, chains rattling as your limbs move.
âYou donât understand how hard this is for me, Lalo! I havenât been able to see my family in years and your family hates me! You treat me like a pet! Iâm tired of it!â
âHow hard this is for you? Mi amor, I take care of everything for you. You do not have to work. You do not slave away. You simply watch after and grow our little ones,â he stated, taking a step closer.
âI never wanted this, Lalo,â you sighed, tears building up in your eyes.
âSo I shouldâve left you there, frying chicken for Gustavo? Suffering, struggling to get by?â he scoffed, shaking his head at how stupid you were.
âI donât want to argue anymore, Iâm tired and Iâm cramping,â you groaned, trying to adjust and allow your stomach to rest comfortably. Your child seemed to be kicking up a storm in there.
Lalo walked up to you, eyes bearing into yours, and leans in to kiss you on the lips.
âEduardo Junior should be here soon,â he says with a smile and a gentle rub on your stomach.
âLettieâs gonna be so excited,â you say softly, trying to crack a smile.
Giving birth to your daughter at nineteen was a traumatic experience, to say the least. Especially with the way Lalo had kept you locked up.
And now, looking down at your chains, you suspected you would be put back under strict watch, though now he had his entire family to keep watch over you.
âAre you feeling okay?â Lalo asked, forehead wrinkling in concern. Before you could respond, he sat down next to you on the bed, resting his hand on the swell of your stomach.
âYeah, I justâ Lalo, do you think you might let me see my family sometime? I want them to meet Lettie andââ
âMi amor, your family is right here in Mexico. Now, it will be so much easier to see Abuelita, the cousins, and all our nieces and nephews,â he smiled, gently rubbing your baby bump again.
âLalo,â you said gently, âI want to go back to New Mexico. We canât stay here, the kidsââ
âThe kids will love it here. Lettieâs Spanish will improve, they can be around family. I can protect all four of us better out here, hm?â
Lalo looked at you expectantly, and you knew in that moment that you will not be returning to the United States anytime soon. Lalo, the father and husband, always had the last word.

Chapter 1117 Spoilers
Ahhh. I'm quivering. We don't get Law, but we get!
Bepo and Bepo is thinking about Captain (so he's not dead, and neither is Bepo...All patched up with his little bandage). Not too distraught, so I'm trusting the Hearts are okay, AND
Will of D. <3
The scans say that the Japanese ends with mo (ă), which can be a conjunction similar to 'and' (or is it a particle? I don't know). BUT, could also be the beginning of a name or noun (Momonosuke). Or extra thing (more...)
BUT, it's interesting that all are named or shown, bar Law. Bepo of course is a representative, but where is Law? Also, I don't think the navy knows about Law's status (so I don't know if Vegapunk did), BUT intriguing. Where is Jaguar D. Saul? (maybe Oda forgot him, or there will be another reveal).
Honorable mention to this D. too!
Vivi! Shown, but not named. (Interesting that the Wiki lists her as a D. by the way, but not Law's family. I think it's an oversight for Law).
Ah, Robin and Law must be champing at the bit. I'm hoping Law's not part of SWORD, but I'll roll with it if he is (just looking at those backgrounds). Bepo's is similar to the marines featured. Also, I hope that Law's listening in!
Ay-oop! look who washed up on the soar! Heh-heh. Shore. Our favourite ancient zoan, Drake. So, he saved Garp and Co? I wasn't sure which Captain Kujaku was referring to here (below)).
It doesn't seem very Garp-like to want space. I am betting that Hibari is Akainu's granddaughter rather than daughter in the way that Kujaku is Tsuru's granddaughter, and Luffy is Garp's grandson, because it makes sense (generation-wise), and ties into the "It's our turn to step up" line from Kujaku. Interesting!
Anyway, just popping in to drop a bit of excitement. It seems the iron giant got blitzed, but I'd say it's its own form of ancient weapon, so it might not be over and out yet. I wanted to repost what Sandman said on Twitter last week, and which I also thought:
The Japanese has 'tanoshimi' (enjoy, fun, etc.) in quotation marks, which strikes me as maybe Rayleigh being sarcastic. For example, what knowledge has the older generation withheld from the younger? and is that withholding a benefit to them, or does it just make it that much harder for them to find the truth? (and increase their chances of being in danger?)
Speaking of which, do you think Rayleigh will survive? Does he know too much? Knowing Oda, he will, but it's curious that there are remnants of the crew out there with all the answers that others are seeking.
Of course, the true history and Will of D. and One Piece are not necessarily of equal weight, but man, Oda's not discounting any of them either!
Just rambling. Also, link to Sandman's post.
OOH, I almost forgot. Talk about gritty characters (even if they're made of smoke)
Smoker!!! It's been too long. Good to see ya'! (where there's Smoke there's Law...maybe? Heh-heh. Just joshing. They look good together, though).
Another also bit! It's way at the end of my post but at the beginning of the manga: Pearl's look has always reminded me of the Pearl Diving bells (or the helmets divers wore), so I think it's clever of Oda to place him at the section where they're talking about exploring below the sea.

(JTA) â A global bestseller by a Jewish Holocaust victim; a novel by a beloved and politically conservative Jewish American writer; a memoir of growing up mixed-race and Jewish; and a contemporary novel about a high-achieving Jewish family are among the nearly 700 books a Florida school district removed from classroom libraries this year in fear of violating state laws on sexual content in schools.
The purge of books from Orange County Public Schools, in Orlando, over the course of the past semester is the latest consequence of a conservative movement across the country â and strongest in Florida â to rid public and school libraries of materials deemed offensive. While the vast majority of such challenged and removed books involve race, gender and sexuality, several Jewish books have previously been caught in the dragnet.Â
The Orange County case is unusual for the sheer volume of books removed â 699 including some duplicates, according to documents the district provided â and for the unusually large number of books about the Holocaust and Jewish identity included among them. They included:Â
âSuite Française,â by IrĂšne NĂ©mirovsky, a Ukrainian-French Jewish writer who wrote her novel in secret under German occupation before perishing in AuschwitzÂ
âHerzog,â a semi-autobiographical novel by Jewish writer Saul Bellow, an outspoken cultural conservative whose son Adam Bellow is a publisher of right-wing Jewish books
âBlack, White and Jewish: Autobiography of a Shifting Self,â by Rebecca Walker, feminist theorist and daughter of author Alice Walker, whose own antisemitic comments and writings have faced scrutiny in the past
âBee Season,â a novel about a high-achieving family of Jewish scholars and cantors, by Myra Goldberg
âThe Splendid and the Vile,â a nonfiction history book about Winston Churchillâs decision to fight Hitlerâs forces during World War II, by Erik Larson
The collected plays of Lillian Hellman, a Jewish playwright and left-wing activist who was accused of Communist activities
âThe Storyteller,â a novel dealing with the Holocaust by bestselling author Jodi Picoult
âThe Reader,â a German novel about the aftermath of the Holocaust by Bernhard Schlink
âSophieâs Choice,â a bestselling novel also about the aftermath of the Holocaust by William Styron
âThe Freedom Writers Diary,â a nonfiction compilation of several high school studentsâ diaries inspired by their teachersâ efforts to instruct them on the Holocaust and Anne Frank
âBooks are removed from classrooms with deference to House Bill 1069,â district spokesperson David Ocasio told the Jewish Telegraphic Agency, referring to a Florida law signed this year that heavily restricts instruction and classroom materials about human sexuality.Â
No individual reasoning was given for each bookâs removal, but Ocasio said that all of the books had been marked as ânot approved for any grade level.â He added that every book will go through a secondary review to determine if it will be restricted to certain grade levels or âweeded from the collectionâ altogether.
Some of the books on Orange Countyâs list have come under scrutiny in the past for removals from other districts. âThe Storytellerâ was the subject of widespread press coverage after a member of the right-wing activist group Moms For Liberty successfully pushed for its removal from a different Florida school district earlier this year. âSophieâs Choiceâ was recently removed from a third Florida school district at the behest of a Jewish parentâs challenge; both parents said their challenges were due to sexual content.Â
Other outwardly Jewish books on the list, including âThe Readerâ and Philip Rothâs âPortnoyâs Complaint,â contain explicit sexual content. Non-Jewish World War II novels âSlaughterhouse-Fiveâ and âCatch-22â were also pulled.
Among the hundreds of other books flagged for removal in the district were frequently challenged books like âGender Queerâ and âThe Handmaidâs Tale,â as well as literary standards like Miltonâs âParadise Lostâ and Maya Angelouâs âI Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,â and childrenâs fare like a book based on Disneyâs âThe Incredibles.â Some items were listed more than once.
Other districts in Florida this year have pulled an illustrated adaptation of Anne Frankâs diary in order to comply with the state law.

just cried reading a singular chapter of one piece and thatâs how you know itâs good
the build up, the way dr. saul wanted to recreate how he met robin and how much heâs proud of her perseverance and how he was angry about what they were saying about her and then đ and then she said âi wanna talk about the good thingsâ but she still couldnât stop crying she was so happy and i was crying like thatâs nico robin you know. the worldâs demon child but to dr saul she was just a girl. his friendâs daughter. she has her motherâs gentle eyes (imagine what that does to nico robin. always having been likened to the devil. her self preservance having been perverted into evilness). the panels side by side of her as a child and her now and you see how she is as i cried bc what is love if not a child that continued to live despite it all because the two people that cared for her and loved her wanted her alive. even in her darkest moments, she kept living
i donât know where i was going with this. but âdemon childâ nico robin. sole survivor of the island of scholars, ohara. you are so loved. you have a family now. and they love you. i love you

A key moment comes almost halfway through Gone with the Wind, book and movie, when Rhett abruptly abandons Scarlett on the road to Tara to join the Confederate army. His desertion follows hard upon one of their tenderest scenes together, when, finding her exhausted and terrified after Melanieâs agonizing delivery and determined to get back to Tara, he holds and comforts her in the manner of the mother she longs to return toâor the mother she never had.
In attempting to explain Rhettâs change of heart, which had a bevy of screenwriters gnashing their teeth, Sidney Howard et al decided to translate their bafflement into Rhettâs, having him puzzle over his own motives. âI always had a weakness for lost causes once theyâre really lost,â he offers, or alternatively, âmaybe Iâm just ashamed of myself.â In some ways itâs the inexplicability of the act that marks it as deeply personal, springing from some demons of the unconscious on Mitchellâs part, a prompting of the past rather than a rational plot calculation. [...]
Rhettâs withdrawal of those protective arms, and the chasm that suddenly opens up, reaches back to the turning point of Margaret Mitchellâs own young life. âStunned, nauseatedâ by Rhettâs abandonment, the bookâs Scarlett compares it to a moment of terror when as a child of six she fell out of a tree and endured the frightening near-death sensation of having the wind knocked out of her. This was precisely the age when Margaret had her own expulsion from Paradise. It was September 1907; Margaret had begun school and hated it. Unpopular, resistant to anything âacademic,â and forced to exchange her boyâs pants for a dress, she pleaded with her mother to let her quit. May Belle said not a word, but she had the carriage brought round and took the would-be truant for a ride north of Atlanta, in the open country on the famous road to Jonesboro. Here on land that still lay fallow years after the war stood many grand old mansions now derelict, tenanted by impoverished widows and spinsters. Margaret imagined these antebellum ghosts peering through cob-webbed windowpanes, Miss Havershams haunting the present day. This is what can happen, Mrs. Mitchell admonished her daughter, if you donât prepare. The world can go mad in an instant, crumble around you overnight. âFor Godâs sake, go to school and learn something that will stay with you,â Margaret later quoted her mother as saying. âThe strength of womenâs hands isnât worth anything, but what theyâve got in their heads will carry them as far as they need to go.â This is the conversion narrative of Margaretâs life, her Saul on the Road to Damascus peripeteia, only instead of finding Christianity on the road to Jonesboro, she learned a lesson in brute survival. Gumption would be her byword, not the grace of the Lord. And for Scarlett, not Christian forbearance but action and self-interest.

mouthwashing headcanons to get off my chest before i go feral (pt 1??)
here's my own spin on the cast's full names:
Saul Swansea. rolls off the tongue right, and im a sucker for alliteration names. i think it totally fits his gruff and grouchy vibes - also yes, we can make the obligatory "better call saul" jokes
Charles "Curly" Collins: yet another alliteration name, and i figured curly was just a nickname he went by in the game. ironically, charles is a german name that means, "free man" :)
Anya Meyers: apparently anya is a commonly derived russian name that means "grace" or "gracious." i chose meyers, because some variations of the surname can translate to "doctor", since it traces back to the latin word, "medicus."
Daisuke Mitsuda: daisuke is a japanese name that means "big, assist." naturally i wanted his last name to tie into that theme, and mitsuda means, "light, radiance." so, his full name basically translates to, "big light" which fits into him being the sunshiney character of the group...
Jimmy Shitstain Campbell: put the least effort and thot into this dude's name, cos i seriously dont gaf. i thot it'd be fitting to give him the most generic american surname, especially related to the famous campbell brand. afterall, campbell soups are cheap, mediocore, and unhealthy - just like jimbone!!!!
daisuke was 20 years old, who's been on a prolonged gap year. he originally went to college for engineering, but quickly learned how much he hated going to school. his last minute gap year decision caused some tension between him and his parents, which was why they decided to send him on the internship.
swansea is 61 years old, and has been working at the polle express for the past three decades. he's always been a blue collar guy, hopping around ships to be the mechanic. before he got stuck at his job, i think he wanted to be a pilot. not even a pilot for space, but a good old fashioned airplane pilot for earth.
anya was 28 years old, who was the youngest of three and had a sick father. her mother was overworked, and barely held everything together to support her husband and children - anya became something of an emotional support daughter for her family. despite the fact her siblings left home to find a better life, she couldn't bear to leave her parents - but due to financial stress and health concerns surrounding her father, that's why anya failed her nursing exam multiple times
additionally, due to her basically parenting her parents, she always sent her money to them. i think this is why she had no savings in the game - she wanted to take care of her family, but ended up neglecting herself
curly is 36 years old, jimmy is 39 years. they became friends through piloting school, and jimmy just latched onto curly the moment he realized how popular and well liked curly was with other people.

Hyped Up Rambling: Spoilers for ONE PIECE Chapter 1104
There are many daddies in One Piece.
But there is only one person who deserves the title of FATHER!
And itâs you, sir Kuma.
As much as I have grievances with Odachii, this is an arc written by a father for his daughter.
Parental love hurts. But still, parents continue to love their children despite the pain, loss, fear, and hardship.
Again I am reminding you all. The series finale actually began exactly two years back when Luffy punched Saint Charlos.
Kuma just continued the fight that Luffy lit the fire for! As my best friend put it, âKuma is following in Joy Boyâs footsteps. Bringing light to the worldïżœïżœâ
Even a âslaveâ, stripped and robbed of all his rights, mental prowess, and dignity and abused to the point of being on the brink of death will FIGHT TO PROTECT! A slave who lost everything rose up on his two feet to protect his child and punched the man who sits on the highest seat of power, and Joyboy aka Luffy made it possible.
And do you know who the people in power fear the most?
The slave they robbed of autonomy.
The scholar they denied true knowledge.
The ethnic groups they massacred.
And the God Born Out Of Peopleâs Despair who comes to seek vengeance.
AND KUMA IS ALL!
May I also remind you all, Borsalino is worse than Sakazuki, he is a scum without any hope in him or in anyone. He is scarier than a straight-cut villain like Sakazuki.
There is a reason idealists are easier to defeat than cynics. You canât beat a deadbeat easily.
My favourite rascals! Franky and Sanji have no chill! They went after Saturn, without any fear or hesitation, just like they went after Saint Roswald, Doflamingo and Big Mum. Their brain operates on: we are Future Pirate Kingâs Crew, we will kick anyone who is a scum!
I still canât believe so many people hate Franky! The dude has literally the least count of losses and the funniest battles! Because he doesnât fight one one-on-one guy, and he shines in the fights when minions and their bosses are involved against lone him! In Dressrosa he ran wild; kissed a girl (yes without consent; thanks scum Odachii) to defeat her, had a hard-boiled match with Senor Pink, destroyed the SAD factory and went to support the fairies on his own! And In Wano he ran his monster bike right into Big Momâs face and knocked her out! We need more Franky love!
And finally!
I donât like to pit series against series, but this is how you utilize the most clichĂ© theme in the entire world: LOVE. You have to show it with actions and gestures and not tell it to your readers. Yes, Gege, I mean you brat; do better.
Why do you think we the readers and viewers still crumble at the theme of love? Itâs extremely simple.
Love is radical.
Love is unpredictable.
Love is powerful.
And time and again in One PieceâLove is an Anomaly.
Ace was born because of Rougeâs willpower born of love.
Sanji was able to retain his humanity because Sora did everything in her power to protect her kids.
Robin was saved because her teachers, mother, and Saul loved her so much that they chose to protect her.
Nojiko and Nami had a chance to live because Bellemere protected them.
Trafalgar Law made it through a life-threatening disease and nihilistic approach to living because CorazĂłn bet his life on him.
Hilulukâs love for Chopper pushed him to be the doctor who wanted to cure everyone.
Zoroâs love for Kuna is what pushes him to work hard.
Because Franky wants to protect his âFamilyâ he becomes the face of criminal activities.
Shirahoshi never revealed her mother's death circumstances because she decided to protect her mom's dream.
Examples of love changing the course of history are endless in One Piece, hence we should remember: Love is the invariant.

What would say are some of most interesting or thought provoking instances of violence in the Bible?

Part 2 of my reverse/alternate universe strawhat pirates
Master post
Part 1 can be read here
Part 1/2
Part 3
Part 4
So we have Captain Ace
Swordswoman Kuina
Navigator Nojiko
TBD Kaya
Cook Reiju
Doctor Hirikul
(And Koza the politician)
And now we have the addition of Nico Olivia. Much like Robin in the true cannon she joins the ew after they defeat Crocodile, and Ace saves her life.
She starts journeying with the crew. And I know we always kinda poke fun at Robin and her gaggle of teenagers but Olivia is really signed up for mom duty. In the beginning sheâs holding back waiting for the day she will have to leave but part of her loves it. Loves seeing her young crewmates run around the boat and think what she could have had with her daughter.
Olivia went out on her journey to study the lost century. And just like in cannon she was caught. Saul frees her and they rush back to Ohara but itâs to late. The Buster call is already over. The islands is destroyed and daughter is dead. Since she escaped from prison she is still wanted by the government and spend the next 20 years running with three goals.
To complete Oharaâs goal of discovering the true history
To take out as many marines along the way as she can
To find her daughters devil fruit. The only thing that still exists that could connect her to her daughter.
Over the years it got harder for her to keep going. She is making very little progress on the first goal. But she has found Robinâs devil fruit and with it has been doing a good job and accomplishing goal 2. But itâs lonely and she misses her home and her daughter more than anything. She ready to give up when Crocodile stabs her. Only for Ace to save her.
Ace who knows exactly what itâs like to want to die. Ace whoâs reason to live is a sunny boy in a straw hat still in the East blue.
Ace saves her and tells her to find someone ti live for. Neither of them knew that that someone would be himself and the rest of his crew. Oliviaâs new family. Her new stupid son. (Ace gets to hang with a mom guys!)
They still do the Skyla trip but they donât meet Blackbeard. No heâs coming later.
Instead they make their way to water 7. Their ship needs to be replaced, itâs taken a beating and Kaya doesnât take it well. Not to the point of challenging Ace for the ship but it hurts. This was her gift to the crew. Sheâs not a good fighter (yet) sheâs stronger then she was but thatâs pitiful to rest of the crew. Sheâs the youngest and weakest member, the momey she brought with her has all been used. The only claim she has to being helpful is that she gave them the ship. The ship they are getting rid of.
Like I said I donât think it gets to Luffy and Usoppâs fight but thereâs a lot of hurt. It helps that Hirikul is there and as an older and more experienced member heâs able to help keep tension down. (I also think he and Kaya would be close with her training under him as a doctor)
I would love to expand on this if anyone wants it
But of course they need a new ship. And Olivia is missing and everythingâs a mess. And to add insult to injury the whole town thinks theyâre trying to assassinate mayor Tom.
And his son/apprentice Iceburg wonât let that kind of threat go unpunished.
In the past when Frankyâs ships attacked Water 7 and Tom, Iceburg, and Franky got arrested for it. Franky thought about all the harm he had caused and how Iceburg always told him to take responsibility for his actions. When Tom tried to take the blame for the ship attack Franky cut him off. Telling the judge he planned the whole thing. That it was his fault. He didnât think the Judge would pardon Tom so he thought if he got ride of the Judge Tom would be free.
No one believes him. Tom and Iceburg are kicking up a storm to deny Frankyâs involvement and Spandam is fuming because this was his plan to get Tom not this kid. But the Judge doesnât want to take Tom. This whole thing is fishy and the boy just gave him an out. A stupid self sacrificing out. But an out. Shame what will happen to the boy though. So the Judge passes Judgement on Franky and he is taken away to be executed.
Tom and Iceburg lose it but Franky just tells them not to blow it for him. Itâs his decision. After all heâs finally take ownership for his creations, even if it means his death he will never deny they were his ships. (Tom would be so proud if he wasnât losing his son)
Ever since Spandam has had it out for Tom and Iceburg. Tom because the leader of water 7 with Iceburg as his right hand man. Running both the ship yards and then demo (this would version of the Franky family) businesses
When Aceâs crew gets blamed for trying to kill Tom Iceburg goes after them with his loyal employees. If only all of them were loyal.
Long story short itâs Iceburg who joins the crew as a shipwright.
Again Iâll totally expand on this if you ask.
Iâm getting to thriller bark soon so youâll have to wait for Brooks story.
But after the pick up one bone man they run into an old friend of Aceâs.
Whitebeard.
Whitebeard who wants all of them to join his crew.
Ace is tempted so tempted. But then he looks at his friends.
Kuina canât chase her dream if their crew is not actively striving for the top. Whitebeard is already at the top of the game. The only step up is pirate king and Kuina wouldnât be on the mainship pushing forward she would be shuffled into whatever commander need her.
Nojiko hates most pirates. She was okay sailing with them because they were a different kind of pirate. But would she be comfortable with whatever crew she ended up with?
Kaya is still learning. Being with the Whitebeard crew might be safer for her as it gave more protection. But she didnât come out her to be safe she came out to start a new life and have adventures with her new friends
Reiju doesnât want the crew to split up. She seems to have a hard time with being left alone. Something Ace can understand.
Hiriluk will do what Ace needs them to do (they all will) but he would far prefer staying together. He needs to train Kaya. He needs to keep his new children safe. (He already failed Tony Tony Chopper he wonât fail again)
Olivia just started feeling safe with them. How do they know no one on the Whitebeard crew will betray her?
Iceburg is here for HIS ship to sail around the world and he trusted THIS crew not a bunch on strangers.
(I find the fact that Aceâs crew got spread out among the Whitebeard pirate quite sad. I wish they could have gone with him on his failed mission)
In the end Ace turns him down (heâs got a mom and a dad on his crew) after all how can Ace surpass him and take his place if heâs working for him. Beside how can Ace support any other king of the pirate besides his little brother.
But they do form an alliance. And thatâs how they roll for three years. Exploring the grandline, getting stronger, dipping their toes into the new world but not fully committing yet.
Until someone is ready to set sail.
Until someone betrays Whitebeard and almost injures Aceâs crew in the process
Until someone finds out that new pirate is related to the head of the revolutionary army.
Please ask about this I have so many ideas.
I canât wait to talk about Kuina and this world Tashigi

Saul Silva x daughter!reader - burning bridges
Hi, could I request a Saul silva x daughter reader? Can she have shadow manipulation powers? - Anonđ
Standing in front of the mirror in the lounge, you turned to the side so you were able to pull your armour a little tighter so it would fit better.
There was a knock on your door and you glanced over.
âItâs open.â
You watched who walked through before you went back to putting your amour on.
âI never agreed to you coming on this mission.â
âYeah, well it ainât your call.â
Your dad sighed heavily, walking over to put your shoulder pads on for you despite the glare you had given him.
âMaybe not, but Iâm still your father (Y/N). They should have asked me.â
âWhen will you give this up dad? Whether you agree to it or not I will still go on these missions. They have nobody else.â
âThey can find other people!â He hissed.
You spun around, glaring harshly at him.
âWhere?! Where the fuck do you expect them to find other fairies like me dad?! Huh?! I am the only one who can manipulate the shadows! The only one who can take out hordes of the burned ones!â
âYouâre still a kid!â
You scoffed, grabbing your other shoulder pad to put it on, and you turned back to the mirror.
âYeah, guess you forget that sometimes too huh?â
You secured it and walked over to your room, heading to the desk and you looked at the report that you were sent.
You picked it up, walking back out to the fire place and tossed it inside so your dad wouldnât be able to track you.
You walked over and stood next to the light switch.
â(Y/N) you are not going on that mission.â
âYou have no say in my affairs.â
You turned it off and he shouted your name, running over he turned it on but you were gone.
Sighing, Saul ran a hand down his face, looking at the fireplace.
There was no way he could get that paper now, it was long gone.
His relationship with you had been tense since you learned about what kind of powers that you had, a lot of people wanted you thrown out of the realm, calling your cursed.
You needed help trying to control them and he was so busy with Sky at the time he neglected to give you the help you needed.
You got hurt.
You blamed him for it, you always had.
Truth be told he blamed himself as well, and he was trying fix that, trying to make it better, but you wanted nothing to do with him now.
The Queen saw you as a force to be reckoned with, she wanted you to join her army where if you played your cards right you would fly through the ranks.
He didnât want that.
He didnât want you to be a solider is some army that wouldnât give a shit about whether you died on one of their missions.
Saul marched back to his office, hoping he could find somebody to tell him exactly where you were sent.
Your mission was easy, you were to track down and take out a burned one that was getting a little to close to one of the cities.
It wasnât exactly hard to track, leaving destruction in its wake was a good method of tracking.
When you found it thatâs where things become a little more complicated.
Reaching into the shadows, you felt the coldness wrap around your hand before you pulled out two swords.
Grinning from ear to ear, you twisted them between your fingers.
You had the advantage of shadow manipulation, being able to move and jump through them, making avoiding the attacks aimed for you a lot easier.
Finally bribing it down after nearly an hour of fighting, you held your hand out, wrapping shadows around it, making the body vanish.
You didnât want locals to worry about this, so you hid the body in your own shadow realm, planning on dumping it at a later date.
You took a few extra days, ensuring the surrounding area was clear before you returned to Alfea.
Heading back to your room, you hung your armour back on the stand by your desk.
You laid down on your bed, staring up at the ceiling.
You knew you wouldnât be able to sleep, for somebody burdened with powers like yours, sleep was hard.
It was easier when you were a child, you had your dad looking out for you. Singing you that same song your mother used to sing when you couldnât sleep.
Now you didnât have that, so, you made your way outside to the specialist training ground in order to train instead.
You never realised that you werenât the only one out there training, you didnât know your dad was out there was well.
But he noticed you when you came out and he put his sword away.
You began to bend the shadows to your will, forcing them to take shape, surround you, do whatever it was that you wanted them to do.
In all the years of know what your powers were, this was the first time Saul was seeing them.
You had never showed him, never trained with him when he asked you too.
He had been so worried about your safety he never realised how strong you were, how capable.
You were so at peace, so relaxed, it was like you were at home, like nothing else in the world mattered.
Saul quietly made his way over.
âYouâre good.â
You didnât stop, but you did glance at him.
âWatching me now?â
Saul sighed, running a hand over his head.
âIâm sorry.â
You stopped what you were doing this time, looking at him.
âI mean it, I am so sorry (Y/N). I know I should have done right by you, I swore I was. I didnât, and for that Iâm sorry.â
âYou think that makes everything better? Makes all the tears of choosing that bastards son over your own daughter just because I was cursed with these powers?â
He reached a hand out but you stepped away, the shadow of a sword forming in your hand as you aimed it at him.
Saul backed away, his hands raised in the air.
âNo. No of course not.â
âYou think after all these time Iâll just come running into your arms and weâll play happy families? He is not my brother. He never was. Shit dad, you look after Bloom better than you do me and that girl doesnât even belong with us!â
âShe needs to learn control.â
âAnd I didnât?! I shadow travelled myself to the damn roof when I was a kid by accident and nearly fell! I did the same thing into the park and sliced my leg open! You didnât give a shit then!â
Saul ran his hand down his face, looking away before turning back to you.
âI did!â
âDid you fuck!â
You walked closer, placing the blade of your sword at his throat and he stayed still.
âI am only at Alfea to complete my course. Then I am going to join the queens army, I will leave, and you will never hear from me again.â
âI donât want that! I never wanted that! Youâre my daughter (Y/N), I just want to keep you safe. Do you really think they give a shit about what happens to you?!â
You shrugged a little, pulling your sword away.
âThey give more of a shit than you ever did Saul.â
You barged past him back to your dorm.
Saul watched you leave, and you didnât so much as spare him a single glance.
Saul didnât know what to do, after all this time you wanted nothing to do with him.
You didnât care if he was your dad or not, you didnât care about family anymore.
You just wanted to hurt him, and it was working because watching his own daughter, his own flesh and blood be angry with him, so eager to leave tore him apart.
There wasnât anything he could do about it either

Oda is really good at foreshadowing because, while him having always had a clear complete backstory for each character from the get go isn't so sure, he clearly has character sheets for each of them that highlight the themes to be explored through them and what logically leads them to become who they are today (finding family in strangers for robin : why not bio fam? -> neglect. why realization at enies lobby and not jaya? -> betrayal in the past, needed proof of truthfulness. why this found fam and not another one? -> criminal lifestyle and previous experience of constant exploitation)
Then when he sets up a scene between characters, he takes all of those sheets into account and specifically choses what would make sense to be "revealed"/said between those characters (and in turn to the audience) at this specific point in time in the plot and in the overall story
Ex: Robin and Law's talk about the Will of D. It makes complete sense for both of them to have this talk in the story between each other specifically. Why didn't Robin ask any other D before Law ? The D clan aren't that plentiful when you think about it to the point Robin met 3 of them in her entire life. She didn't know how important it was back then so she never asked Saul. She probably asked Luffy but Luff-man doesn't care about those matters to the point he only found out he even had a dad at 17yo ("sorry Robin"). In short, Law is perfect for the job. And while his information fits at that point in the plot for Robin to uncover, we as an audience aren't ready for it yet.
Alternatively, when those character themes sometimes coincide between different characters, he simply ties them together to avoid redundancy
Bonney is a funny case to me because she was created in a week like most of the non-Strawhat supernovas but Oda made sure that her and these new characters wouldn't interfere or create plotholes with what he's already had in mind while leaving enough leeway to tie them more into the plot if needed. Bonney has the biggest leeway of any supernova because of her devil fruit powers. The fact it changes her age and we were only ever given an estimation means you could technically have her be born at nearly any point in time as well as be the daughter, mother or grandmother to anyone you wish.
Yet she fits so well as Kuma's daughter for a very simple reason: It makes the scene of Kuma sending Perona to Mihawk's island gain a layer of sense that was kinda missing and easily glossed over on a first read. Other than giving a demonstration of what Kuma's abilities could do pre-Sabaody and emphasize how much bigger of a threat he was compared to Moria even if they shared the same title, we never really got WHY Perona was spared like the strawhats were at Sabaody. There wasn't some grand vision to it, no tie to something he was part of like the Revolutionaries, ... So why ? Especially at that point in time where he was slowly but surely losing himself and any tie left to his humanity
But then Bonney comes in and their backstory is revealed. And that's when you begin to notice. You notice that Perona is a pink haired adult woman with a rather childish personality. Notice that her devil fruit can easily be underestimated and holds a lot of potential. Notice that Kuma mechanically asked her a really strange question which lacked an important key setup for it. Notice that the spot on Mihawk's island where he sent her to was safe from danger. And you realize
Perona might have reminded Kuma of someone very very close to him to the point his mind couldn't even fathom harming a look alike.
And chronologically at the time of this encounter, he's only seen Bonney as an adult once back at the Sorbet Kingdom where he ended up fainting at the sight alone
In a strange turn of events, things just fit and we're all happy for it
I have nothing to say you're just spot on about everything here. I am so desperate to see Oda's notes on when he makes arcs and characters for how he puts everything together. I can only hope he's kept all of them so, when One Piece ends, he can release a book with all his concept sketches and character/story plots to see exactly how he does it. I need to see how the gears turn u know

Loki Loki Literature Club
We're back! Yay! And what a chapter to come back on. We don't get this a lot in One Piece, but here we have a chapter where Luffy spends the bulk of it alone in a tense conversation with a powerful yet nebulous figure. A nebulous figure that picked a great way to get under Luffy's...sorry Loppy's skin here. This is such a cool moment in this series to me. Why?
Because it kinda feels like Loppy's on the other side of this than he'd usually be. We're in a country he already likes, someone they decided to chain up is trying to build a buddy so he can fuck shit up. But honestly Loki's kinda the rude little shit here while Luffy? Let's talk about Luffy here.
So let's consider the last three arcs and how they started. WCI the crew gets played by one of Big Mom's daughters. Wano you have a segment with many similarities but it's unwittingly finding one of the Akazaya Nine. Similar skillset but you start from neutral. The concepts there are put to an interesting test in Egghead and buddy you get suckered in. Now you're sitting here with a chained, Emperor-level threat who is probably just trying to get you to release him. Here, fun comparison:
See what I'm getting at here? Loki's about to find an in with you Loppy...did you learn the lesson from the two actresses? That some people are really good at hiding their true intentions, even from someone as perceptive as you? I'm not harboring any serious delusions you still smuggled someone out of Wano but there were still weird story beats and things like Academy kinda pulling the same trick with Kiku & Yamato, so I still have that feeling you could fit in somewhere. And we already identified potential with Shanks. Especially with the cover serial giving us a solid chance to line up Yamato's post-quest spur to Ringo with a little further into Elbaf.
If it all came together through Hajrudin at that point...that'd be fuckin cool because the Grand Fleet's update serial was rolling Act 1 of Wano. Which gets to my real point with all this. Luffy...bruh, please use your head. You have allies here. If Shanks was around the guy chained to the tree probably isn't even the best guy to ask about it and almost certainly isn't the only one because he didn't even bring it up!
Be calm, or you're going to walk right into another Egghead Incident you have nothing to do with.
Hey look, someone even got a haircut! There was other stuff this chapter. Oh my god this was sweetness. Brook did so well. Robin went back to her old bangs because of Saul who better not seriously fucking die right now. You are not about to Sunflower Samurai me here for our sweet sweet Nico Robin but you hurt me so so bad with Izo Oda...
You had that and a little advancement for the rest of the landing crew hiding from the New Giant Pirates. Which along with Loki mythos give this chapter a lot of dramatic irony. Love that shit. We'll surely see how these stories play out but I'm really interested in what decision Luffy makes here.
