Ten Under-Recognized Jirai Kei Characters!
Ive been meaning to make a post on some jirai kei characters that i think are underappreciated by the overseas landmine community! Mostly i think its bc they don't wear girly kei, cybercore, or other fashions associated with us on SNS, and bc their media came out before 2020. So ive compiled a list and an explanation for why i think they're jirai! I have another list for pien kei characters who arent jirai in my opinion too. If u have any characters u think the western jirai comm sleeps on, comment/reblog and tell me who & why!
1. Celestia Ludenberg
Celestia (Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc) has screamed landmine to me for like, ever! She's wrapped up in her appearance and at first glance makes the effort to come off as regal and formal. But she frequently lets that disguise slip and shows her sadistic side at the slightest inconvenience, threatening violence and screaming in peoples faces. She's got both a superiority complex AND inferiority complex, and has an unhealthy obsession with gambling, her super high school level talent.
2. Nijimin Anazawa
Nijimin (Mahou Shoujo Site) is super popular in the japanese jirai comm, and its easy to see why. She's easily lovestruck and a borderline yandere (dependent type), murderous and hellbent on revenge, and her magical power literally revolves around manipulating others. She's a beloved idol and a symbol of cuteness, but she's a murderous magical girl? How much more jirai can you get!
3. Mayoi Ayase
Mayoi (Ensemble Stars) is a very interesting character! From his obsession with the occult to his self depreciating behavior to his obsessive and stalkerish tendencies, he's an overall offputting yet charming guy. As an idol, he has fans who have a totally different image of him than the creep (affectionate) he can be at times behind the scenes. Also, not to stereotype, but his favorite sanrio character is kuromi, whos super popular within jirai.
4. Yuri
Yuri (Dokidoki Literature Club) being a landmine seems a little self-explanatory to me. She's a yandere character who's probably the most unassuming of the cast at first. She's shy, smart, kind... and a self-harming yandere with a knife fetish who will literally kill herself if you get involved romantically or reject her.
5. Yoosung
Wow, when's the last time I thought about Mystic Messanger? No idea, but Yoosung feels pretty jirai kei to me in retrospect. In the beginning of the game, hes the adorkable self-conscious junior with an unhealthy online addiction. But, by the end, he's a self-harming yandere who refuses to let the player character go, and is willing to do whatever it takes to secure a happily ever after.
6. Kusokawa-chan
While I have an immeasurable hatred for her creator, Kusokawa-chan (Menhera-chan spin-off 4komas) is a comfort character of mine... for some reason. With a name that means "kawaii trash", her personality is probably predictable. She's human trash, a sadistic asshole with no respect for others who will insult and berate you at the drop of a hat, and turn on a dime on her fans. She tries to cover it up by putting on an exaggerated innocent act and kawaii-fying herself and her life, but she just cant stop herself from exploding on others with no remorse.
7. Azusa Mukami
Admittedly, everything I know about Diabolik Lovers is through its fandom as I've yet to cave and buy the games. But from what little I know, Azusa seems pretty jirai. He seems innocent, fragile even- but has the typical amount of yandere tendencies for the series. He has a self harm addiction, and if you peruse his route you're in for a toxic time.
8. Satou Matsuzaka
This might be cheating because she's so popular on yandere tumblr, but Satou Matsuzaka (Happy Sugar Life) is ultra jirai kei. It's no wonder she's such a popular choice of pfp on japanese jiraitwt! She's obsessed with living out a fantasy saccarine-sweet life with the object of her desire, and given her full-blown yandere nature and her lolicon status, its no doubt shes a toxic partner. She's beloved at her school and workplace for her seemingly sweet nature and cute looks, but her kindness is only for the purposes of manipulation.
9. Kosame Amagai
Again, I'm no expert on Diabolik Lovers! But based on what my friends on yandereblr tell me, this guy is definately a jirai danshi. He's a lover of all things cute, who uses his cute shota-like appearance and polite manner of speech to lure others in. In reality, hes an abusive partner in his route, and takes his anger out on others verbally. He's willing to cry, scream, and threaten over the smallest of transgressions. Of course, he's also a yandere as per series standard.
10. Momonga
Okay so this is only half-serious, but there's a reason Momonga (Chiikawa) is so beloved by jirai girls and often depicted fitting the visual jirai stereotype in fanart. She's ultra cute! But she uses her appearance and acting vulnerable and innocent to try to get away with shithead behavior. She's loud, erratic, and self-obsessed, and often cries when she doesn't get her way. She's obviously the worlds cutest little manipulator, and she knows it.
I hope you enjoyed this list! There's a list for non-landmine pien kei characters coming soon, so feel free to send me asks with recommendations! And feel free to add on to this list in reblogs and comments!

TOP 10 FAMOUS YANDERE IN ANIME
When we watch anime, we encounter a rich tapestry of characters, each one embodying a specific archetype, a trait, or a stereotype. However, few character types have captured the imagination and morbid fascination of fans quite like the yandere. At first glance, they might seem like the ideal partner – loving, attentive, and utterly devoted. But, hidden beneath that veneer of affection lies a dark undercurrent of obsession, madness, and sometimes, violence. As we journey into the world of the yandere, tread lightly, for love here isn't just blind—it's often dangerous. Join us as we delve deeper into the psyche of some of anime's most iconic yandere characters, exploring the twisted love stories and the fine line between passion and possession.
1 Yuno Gasai from "Mirai Nikki" (Future Diary): Yuno's extreme love and obsession for Yukiteru Amano are central to the story.
2 Kotonoha Katsura from "School Days": Kotonoha's descent into madness due to her love for Makoto Ito is one of the most memorable aspects of the series.
3 Shion Sonozaki from "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" (When They Cry): Driven to madness by her love for Satoshi Houjou.
4 Rena Ryuuguu from "Higurashi no Naku Koro ni" (When They Cry): While not a traditional yandere, her intense behavior, especially in certain arcs, qualifies her for the list.
5 Satou Matsuzaka from "Happy Sugar Life": Her obsession with Shio Kobe, a young girl she believes to be her one true love, defines her character.
6 Kurumi Tokisaki from "Date A Live": Her yandere tendencies are especially evident when she's around the protagonist, Shido Itsuka.
7 Ayase Aragaki from "Oreimo" (My Little Sister Can't Be This Cute): While more of a yangire (a character who snaps suddenly out of jealousy or irritation), her obsessive tendencies can't be ignored.
8 Kaede Fuyou from "Shuffle!": Once the truth about her past surfaces, her yandere nature becomes clear.
9 Misa Amane from "Death Note": Her obsessive love for Light Yagami and willingness to do anything for his sake place her in the yandere category.
10 Sekai Saionji from "School Days": Her actions, particularly towards the end of the series, reveal her yandere nature.
As we conclude our journey into the captivating realm of yanderes, it's evident that these characters are more than mere vessels of madness and obsession. They embody the age-old debate of how far one might go for love and at what cost. Their stories serve as cautionary tales, reminding us of the thin line between affection and fixation, devotion and domination. While the yandere archetype may be a product of fictional storytelling, their essence resonates with many, leaving an indelible mark on the anime community. We may not always agree with their methods or their motives, but the yandere's complex blend of love, fear, and fervor will continue to intrigue and haunt us long after the screen fades to black.

Here’s a small essay on Saiki’s aromanticism that I’ve been meaning to write lol
I think a big reason why some people absolutely go insane when Saiki is shipped with someone (despite the fact that being aro is a spectrum) is that there’s a certain degree of complexity in understanding it. I’m not aro, but I am pretty sex-neutral most of the time (and if my feelings change in this, I’m more likely to be repulsed than positive on most days), and it’s not always an easy thing to get. It’s fascinating, but sometimes scary and disgusting. Despite this, I’m not totally against the idea. It’s not just not a black and white situation. And I think the same could be argued for Saiki’s sexuality.
He’s been shown to at least experience romantic attraction. Whether that’s through something as obvious as Satou to more subtle things like being mildly flustered over Teruhashi. Even though he seems pretty averse to it sometimes, it intrigues him. He likes romance stories, whether fictional or not.
And there’s that complexity again
Saiki is a hard character to understand if someone struggles with the idea of complexity in characters, because that’s all he fucking is. He’s such an unreliable narrator about so much that it’s hard to tell truths from just his words alone. (And sometimes people don’t agree on what should be taken as truth!) You need to pay attention to the things he does, and know when to take his words with a grain of salt. I think that a lot of people on tiktok and stuff struggle with dichotomies like that in literature, and things that aren’t spoonfed to them just aren’t payed any mind.
Of course, it’s totally okay when people want to headcanon Saiki as entirely romance repulsed. That’s a perfectly good interpretation of his character. But when aggression starts because someone believes it’s the only way his character can be read, I believe that’s when we start seeing the issue of being unable to see complexity in characters (especially for a sexuality that’s a spectrum. I’d argue it’s harder to understand than someone being entirely gay or straight).

I think that a very funny development of Cat was that she originally was created with the intention of her being just an alternative for of my persona, Neko- allas translating into Cat.
But then the influence of the fandom happened, I saw so many Yuu's that had all these unique stories and I felt like I wanted one of my own.
I also happened to be a very much enjoyer of two faced characters, and the idea of making Cat be something that's more than meets the eye was very appealing, thus her alternation from the original concept happened, as she started to drift more apart of my persona and become a more individual oc.
I often struggle on how to express her character, and I tend to use characters like Makima, Satou from Happy sugar life, or pretty any character that happens to have a twist in their overall characterization as an example.
And the addition of Pandora- I think was the cherry on the top. Cat and her are like my best creation, I'm feeling very proud on making complex characters? I know that the concept may be overused, but I will try my very best to make it special in it's own way 😺

Synopsis: Adaptation of the 7th volume of the series.
Review Proper
I'm not sure what's gonna end first: the series or my fucking life.
As much as I love Saezuru, it's gone on for so long that it's starting to get old literally and figuratively. You know, I wouldn't even be mad if Yoneda Kou ended the series by killing Yashiro off in 6. 7 is still well-written to a point and the BLCD did deserve to rank second AGAIN in chil-chil 2022, but I'm not sure about the future of this series (it wasn't nominated in 2023 tho which is one of the few good things about 2023's).
I say a lot of things, but I'm still invested in vol. 7 & 8.
I don't know who I'm jealous of, BUT THAT SHOULD BE ME! This scene is in vol 8, not 7, but I wanted to include it anyway.
I do agree that Saezuru portrayal of the whole yakuza deal is the realest 'cause happy endings over there are quite rare, but this isn't a novel that comes out in one go. Doesn't help that June is ass. I've heard from several friends who've read the latest releases that it feels like it's lost its way and that just makes me sad. I'm still hopeful tho.🤧
As I've already stated, this placed second in 2022's awards. I mean, it's Saezuru. Frontier doesn't spare a penny for it lmao. All the major characters are voiced, and they managed to bring the A-listers back again. Sometimes, I forget that Saezuru is actually based on a manga whenever I listen to the BLCDs 'cause the production is just that good.
Shingaki slayed as usual. I've said this many times before, but no matter how bad or how well he does in another role, he will always be Yashiro. I just came from Tsunaida and we're in the middle of a Rei event in Nu:carnival, so I would expect myself to adjust to Yashiro, but I didn't need any of that lmao. Yashiro is truly Shingaki's magnum opus. I'm not at all surprised that he placed 3rd best seiyuu for Yashiro. Deserved.
Speaking of Nu:carnival, I will forever be obsessed with Yashiro's relationship with the other characters aside from Doumeki. Nanahara's voiced by my one true love, Okitsu, but like Yashiro, I love him for his character and not his voice. It is nice having the other veterans in here with him, too. The slut trio is complete with Daddy Complex SatoTaku, Boss Ass Chaser Okitsu, and Damel in Distress Shingaki. #BLESS I want Kamiya to end up with Nanahara.
I haven't heard Wacchan in years HAHAHAHAHA. His Doumeki is still amazing as always. My issues with the story aside, I'm really looking forward to his "break" in vol. 8. EEEEEEE
Special mention to my Ryuuzaki and Miyake Kenta who made their comebacks here too. I missed him so much! LMAO
The BLCD is pretty accurate to the... magazine at least, but June does sell the translated tanko (fortunately). Like the previous installments, reading the manga while listening to the BLCD was so smooth because it was so accurate. Now 7 does end in a cliffhanger, so I don't really advise listening to it if you still don't have 8. But if cliffhangers aren't an issue for you, then break a leg!

Pink Haired Male Leads
Perhaps partially due to pink being a fav color of mine, I am personally a really big fan of pink haired characters. In particular in romances! Pink haired female leads are quite common nowadays. However, pink haired MLs have still yet to catch up to the same level of SHEER abundance/popularity
So here’s a list of series featuring male love interests/male leads with pink hair:
[Spoiler warning for the endgame male leads as there is a(/are) series here with multiple love interests!]
1- Tamon’s B-Side
2- Kawaii Satou-kun [oneshot]
3- The Flower and the Hedgehog
4- 홍시는 날 좋아해!
5- Let's Hide My Little Brother
6- Koi ni Mudaguchi
[This manga features 4 protagonists(/4 leading male characters). One of them, Shiro, has pink hair]
7- 친구는 소중히 대해 주세요
8- You're My Cutie
9- Pink to Habanero
10- Summer Bloom
11- 친구끼리 이러는 거 아니야
12- A Song Dwelling In The Clouds: A Chasing Love Guide
Bonus!:
13- Otonari Complex
[His actual hair is blond, he just wears a pink wig]

One Villainous Scene: My First Emotion
As Valentine's Day is the day of love, my Valentine's gift is not one but two One Villainous Scenes featuring love as the central theme, one leaning on the darkly comical side, the other on just plain dark.
This would be former. In the third episode of Happy Sugar Life, Satou has spared the life of Asahi Kobe when she was about to kill him while he lay unconscious, due to something relating to Shio from him and regaining the good sense to know that a murder like this would compromise her and Shio's peaceful, happy, loving life together. On the walk back home, Satou starts to wonder why it was that she'd even thought to attempt Asahi's murder in the first place. She's normally very much in control of her feelings and able to think through all the decisions she makes, so what had made her so impulsive and uncontrolled back there? And so she contemplates:
I'm not new to bitter tastes. But this was on a totally different level. Just remembering it brings back the bitter taste. What IS this? Anger? Pain? A warning sign? It's different from anything I've ever felt before. It's bitter. So bitter.... I have to understand it to control it.
Satou recalls what set her off: Asahi, in his semi-conscious delerium, speaking the vows of love that Satou and Shio exchange on a nightly basis. Satou says that when she heard this, she got the image in her head of "Shio-chan and that thing saying those vows to each other" (and I love that Satou is just insistent on thinking of Asahi as a "thing" and an "it" rather than a fellow human being, like she has to internally dehumanize any person towards whom she has immediately venomous and bitter feelings of dislike). This puts into perspective that what was driving Satou up the wall was the very idea that her special someone, the one and only person she truly loves, could ever be with someone else in any close capacity where he loves her and she even might love him back. And that's when it finally hits her.
She was jealous of Asahi over how he's someone who knew and loved Shio well before she ever met her. It's jealousy that she felt.
Colorful shooting stars rain down in Satou's eyes and the mood of the scene does a sudden hard shift to being joyous, whimsical, and sweet. Soft, pleasant backgrounds and bright colors replace the dark and icky "bitterness" of before as Satou literally prances and skips down the street in girlish glee, now happy to have felt such a visceral, anguishing response of envy, rage, and disgust towards Asahi because these painful feelings are born from Satou's love for Shio! "My first emotion!", thinks Satou as she merrily skips along, clearly not meant to suggest she had no emotions before 'cause she earlier admitted to feeling different emotions in the past, but this is the first non-happiness stirring within her heart that anything to do with her relationship with Shio has made her feel on a deep level. It's the sociopath's first experience of actually connecting with something deep within herself that is purely, rawly, and unmistakably human.
The moment only gets schmaltzier and goofier from there!
That could be said to be the end of it....but only two minutes later, we see Satou get on the elevator to go back to her apartment room when Asahi crosses her mind once again. While still thinking of him as "that thing", she's at least in the mood to use his proper gender pronouns this time as she resolves to ensure he and Shio don't meet.
From unhinged and creepy to cute and pleasant, then back around to pants-wettingly terrifying. Really, what better way to sum up the masterstroke of yandere horror that is Satou Matsuzaka than that? Just as Satou adores Shio, I adore Satou's character. So much captivating complexity and nuance and psychological fucked up-ness. You see all the darkest facets of her and are so fearful and repulsed that you have the instinct to look away from her, yet find you can't because she's already pulled you into her world. You want to know her better, you want to see her in action, and because she is so charming and a lesser evil than others around, a small, secret part of you might even want to see her come out successful in the end.
I guess that can't be called anything less than a form of love. <3
Here's the full scene, from 5:50 to 9:58, in English. And whatever can be said of that fandub, Malina Rose is fucking GOATed as Satou.

Hi Pika ☺️ Thanks for the translations and analyses 🫂 this is pallate cleanser ask hopefully lol. I think you said you played ffxiv so what do you think Katsuki would play as if he did? And what kind of playstyle would suit him best? (achiev hunting for example)
Any other student headcanons you'd like to share are appreciated too 😌
Katsuki Bakugou certainly has the god complex for a Healer, and he's believable as a big numbers DPS, but given his penchant for taunting, instinctive battle strategizing, insistence on leading his party from out in front, propensity for taking hits for others, and physical advantage in wars of attrition, I declare Katsuki Bakugou is in fact a Tank main (who had an annoying Machinist phase on the side at some point because artillery explosions go brrrrrrrrrrr).
Aesthetically, we all know Katsuki's going for a male Au Ra Dark Knight or Reaper. Gunbreaker is a permissible alternative. It's hard to choose anything but Dark Knight for him given the Living Dead ability where dying literally makes him invulnerable. 😂 And he'd spend any duty bossing the healers around so they don't fuck with his skill set.
That said, given the breadth of his character development, it seems by the time he reaches his second year of high school Katsuki will dabble in Paladin and become a reliable carry and support.
Play style? Katsuki plays PvP guaranteed. And he races for worldwide first clear of newly released Ultimates. Whatever is the most competitive shit, Katsuki's doing it and kicking ass (unlike me, as I'm a filthy casual who doesn't really know what I'm talking about even by saying this much).
Katsuki eventually gets into Fisher after he discovers he's a masochist.
Other characters?
Izuku (male Viera) mains either Ninja (for the nerdy complexity) or Dragoon (for the self-destructive tendencies).
Ochako (female Lalafell) is a crafter main who's milking the marketboard for all the gil she can get.
Shouto (male Hyur) is a really bad Black Mage main.
Iida is a mentor who never turns off Shout in the chatbox.
Kirishima mains Warrior.
Tokoyami mains Reaper.
Kouda mains Summoner.
Satou mains Culinarian/Gatherer.
Ojiro is a Monk who does MSQ only.
Hagakure knows all the ins and outs of the free trial version.
Mina mains Dancer and knows glamour is the endgame.
Mineta just ERPs as a female Viera and uses mods.
Aoyama mains Red Mage and uses Verblind every chance he gets.
Momo has max leveled all her roles and runs the class' Free Company.
Jirou joins a Bard Discord, hangs out exclusively in clubs, and AFKs in the Limsa Lominsa aetheryte plaza.
Shouji is a male Hrothgar who absolutely slays at everything he does, as Hrothgars are wont to do.
Tsuyu is a FemRoe.
Kaminari is also a FemRoe. He spends real money to buy Fantasia potions.
Sero mains Blue Mage.

I don’t think I’ve ever written down all of my sexuality HC’s for the cast, have I.
I think most of the characters are straight in canon. with a few obvious exceptions like Kusuo. I’ll put ‘em under a cut.
Saiki- most likely Ace/Aro, possibly ace/gay (Satou)
Kaidou- straight
Nendou- straight
Teruhashi- straight
Chiyo- straight
Mera- asexual/aro
Hairo- unsure, but clearly not interested in romantic relationships
Toritsuka- straight, slight chance bisexual
Kuboyasu- straight
Aiura- bisexual
Akechi- unsure. Asexual?
Imu- lesbian
Saiko- straight
Hii- straight
Satou- straight
Mr. Chuono- straight
Nendou’s mom- straight
Kuniharu & Kurumi- straight
kumi & kumigoro- straight
Kuusuke- insane (asexual)
Makoto- straight
Takashi- bisexual and homophobic
basically: almost everyone is straight, Saiki, Akechi, Hairo and Mera come across as ace to me. I’m not entirely sure about Kusuo. He repeatedly states in canon that he doesn’t get romance, hinting ace/aro. Which is the interpretation I think I prefer. His obsession with Satou and his normalcy may push past platonic into crush territory, though. Akechi… we don’t get any evidence, really. But it’s my best guess that he’s not really too interested in dating. Hairo is simply not interested in dating at all. Mera is occupied with other things, but she shows 0 romantic interest in anyone. I think signs point to Kuusuke being asexual, but it’s hard to tell because of his superiority complex. He could very well be gay but that’s an interpretation I obviously don’t like because of the implications.
Aiura is definitely bisexual, based off of how she reacted to seeing Teruhashi, and Takashi is the stereotypical homophobe bully who’s actually repressing his own feelings. This is mostly based on the fact that I think it would be entertaining if true. The only characters I’d put money on being gay is Rifuta. I feel like Rifuta’s crush on Makoto thing was thrown in last minute just because otherwise it was undeniable that she’s gay.
I’d have given actual money for lesbian Teruhashi, because ImuTeru and also hell yeah, Kusuo & Teruhashi friendship and solidarity would be great.
alas…
basically, I think canon sinks every single potential ship. And I think that is most excellent and iconic of Mr. Aso.
disclaimer: this is just my opinion & (probably biased) interpretation of canon
#queue#saiki k#sexuality headcanons#of course. Author ships SaiTeru LOL#so I guess you could say Kusuo is bisexual#but that just… doesn’t feel right#it feels more like the author added it for fan service#and because he likes the idea of the ship#draft dated October 22 2021#hmm. I guess these still basically hold true for me...#but honestly. there's so many jokes about Hairo being gay one does have to wonder... lol

JVC Post #30
Welcome to the NHK
This was one of the first anime I watched on my own, and at the time I loved it. I thought it was one of the best anime I had seen. Now, after watching it again after so many years, I still think it's pretty good, but not as good as I thought at one point. It's part of a slew of important anime that came out in 2006, which was a huge year in anime. Some other big names from that year are The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya(<3), The Familiar of Zero, Death Note, Aria, and Code Geass. There were also some cool OVAs like the Hellsing Ultimate OVA and Dai Mahou Touge. Though this anime is way too pervy. I think there's a lot this series could have done if it didn't have so much perv humor (even if I get why it was included).
Satou is a pretty well written character as well. He feels like a realistic portrayal of a shut-in NEET. This is a common point that a lot of people bring up when they watch this show.
That being said, Satou is also pretty clearly mentally ill (he doesn't have schizophrenia) which is part of the depiction of hikikomori. It's easy to tell someone that you just have to go out and talk to people or whatever, but it's never that easy for that person. For someone like Satou, something that simple is an insurmountable hurdle. Though, it's not just presenting Satou's issues. It also shows you (and Satou) that everyone struggles in their own way. This is harder to see in the 4 episodes we watched but I think the way this show presents mental illness and the complex situation someone Satou is in is something worth noting.
But all of this is really slapped around by the presentation sometimes. Particularly the way it jumps around after episode 11. The anime is a lot different than the manga or light novel, which are more focused. I feel like this anime would be better if it had stuck to what it was building up in the first half of the show instead of going off on a tangent in the later half. It would have been great as a 13-14 episode anime, even if they did change a lot of it from the light novel/manga. While I love MMORPGs, we didn't need 8 episodes about it in the show.
Its hard to get everything out of this anime with just a few episodes. Some of the episodes are just stuffed with great moments. Despite a lot of it being gross and weird, not a lot of shows have this sort of presentation of otaku culture to my knowledge so it's neat to see. It makes me cringe and look away but it's neat.
What I think the main point of this series is, is to tell people who identify with Satou that no one can go it alone, and to get them to realize that people like Misaki don't exist. You can't hope that someone is gonna knock on your door and rip you out of what you're going through. You have to put in work to make progress on your own; No one can do it for you. It also uses the NHK (Nihon Hikikomori Kyoukai) as a metaphor for blaming the world around you rather than looking inward. It's easy to imagine that you're part of some conspiracy or are in your situation because somehow everything is out to get you, but that's not (usually) the case.
However, I think the "message" of the show might be kind of murky and not well defined. Even with it's realistic depiction of an otaku shut-in NEET, it doesn't say enough about it or offer anything for Satou in the end other than a bittersweet, unhealthy relationship with Misaki. People who relate heavily to Satou aren't going to come out of NHK with anything but a lasting impression of that realistic depiction and will have nothing to go off of. It's a bit disappointing.
Lastly I wanna point out a cultural reference I noticed that I hadn't before. Though we didn't watch it, you can see in episode 3 when Yamazaki hands Satou his top 10 gal-games he hands him "Toki-doki Memorian" which is an obvious reference to Tokimeki Memorial (which is a great game you should play it). Pururin is also pretty clearly inspired by Di Gi Charat's Dejiko.

Resonate (my magical OCs)
Resonate, sometimes stylized as “Re:SON@Te,” is a group of 15 magical girl (and boy/enby) idols who are lifelong best friends.
The transforming catchphrase for everyone is “Whimsical Wonder Wave!”
They all transform with special perfume paint.
The story, Symphony Saga, begins when Amelie hears a forecast that her hometown, Speckle Town, will be destroyed by a meteor. While everyone else evacuates, Ame feels there must be a way to save her town so she goes and investigates. She ends up finding a book that tells a legend, if an idol group of fifteen friends performs a "legendary song" under the meteor as it falls, it will destroy the meteor and the town will be saved. So Ame, along with her two best friends, round up twelve other people to be an idol group of fifteen…
This group becomes Resonate. Each member has a story to them.
During the group's musical performance, they gain the ability to transform into magical girls! They successfully destroy the meteor. Now the adventure begins…
This story takes place in the magical world of Whimsica.
After they save Speckle Town, many other magical adventures await Resonate…
The Cozy House is an apartment complex that houses many of the characters. It’s also like a “town within a building.”

Trivia-
Amelie Sugar is my self-insert. She is also an UTAU and possibly upcoming Vtuber.
I have also made UTAU voices for Rhona, Nagisa, Luana, Joy, and Rie by editing my/Ame’s voice. They’re imperfect for now.
Symphony Saga was originally a Vocaloid/UTAU fanfiction.
A lot of these characters are based on my interpretation of Vocaloid and UTAU characters. These characters have no canon, and their personalities are up to interpretation. I decided to make my personal interpretations into OCs, because it feels much more fulfilling. It’ll finally be canon, in a way. Because they’re their own characters.
Yuki Aizaki is based on Yowane Haku and replaced her original role in this story. You could also imagine her to have Yowane Haku’s voice, since that’s now her voice claim.
Kiri Takamori is based on Hatsune Miku and has her as a voice claim.
Yume Yozora is based on Utane Uta and has her as a voice claim.
Lanyue Fei is based on Soune Taya and has him as a voice claim.
Juhong Cha is based on Namine Ritsu and has him as a voice claim.
Aya Hart is based on Kasane Teto and has her as a voice claim.
Sonata Coda replaced Yokune Ruko in this story, though she is drastically a different character. Her voice claim is still Ruko though.
Chija Song replaced Momone Momo in this story, though she is drastically a different character. Her voice claim is still Momo though.
Saga Sun replaced Fuuga Koto in this story. She still shares some similarities. Her voice claim is still Koto.
Aside from Ame Sugar actually being my UTAU, sometimes her voice claim is Asane Bou.
Yuki’s voice claim is sometimes Gekiyaku.
Kiri’s voice claim is sometimes Yamine Renri.
Rhona’s voice claim is sometimes Kohaku Merry.
Luana’s voice claim is sometimes Anna Nyui.
Joy’s voice claim is sometimes Haruka Nana.
Nagisa’s voice claim is sometimes Sekka Yufu.
Rie’s voice claim is sometimes Matsudappoine.
I chose the name Yuki 雪 for her because aside from meaning snow, her kanji has the kanji radical for “rain” in it, 雨, one of the ways Ame translates to Japanese. Also her half-brother’s name is Shimo 霜 meaning frost, her cousin is Kiri 霧 meaning drizzle, and Kiri’s little sister is Kasumi 霞 meaning mist. Did you notice that all those kanji look similar because of the 雨 being in it?
Yuki’s mother Murasaki has a name meaning purple. Kiri’s mother Midori has a name meaning green. Shiro means white, Gin means silver, and Ao in Aosuke means blue.
Amelie Sugar is usually spelled in Japanese as アメリー・シュガー but “Ame Sugar” which is something of a stage name, is 佐藤飴 (Satou Ame, but pronounced Sugar Ame in this name.) The kanji for Satou mean “sugar” and Ame means “candy.”
The reason why many Resonate members’ birthdays are in late November is because in real life, November 16-23 is something called Rainbow Week for me. It’s a made-up special time for me for a few reasons. In the world of Whimsica, Rainbow Week is also a special time. Being born during Rainbow Week is regarded as special…

may we know which interpretation of a character from ur shows u do not agree with and find to be in slightly poor taste u reblogged that post 5 times about 👀
I reblogged that post way more than five times I thought….
And well it applies to a lot of characters… but for what I’m thinking about now it’s the entire cast of yttd
This game is literally about a death cult that’s been training people for a murder game against their knowledge their whole lives. You’d think the fandom would be able to shoulder more moral complexity than 7 year olds.
Qtaro is beloved nowadays for his stellar character arc, but before 3-1b and even now, his tag is uninhabitable. No matter how much he changed from his pretty indefensible actions in the first chapter, even a line in the second chapter main game that was pretty much just turning towards the camera and telling you he had changed, people were VICIOUS at the idea that he could show any moral complexity and growth. People were outraged over a man called Qtaro Burberberg who was a parody of Jojo characters, and making headcanons about him being homophobic (which is a whole other can of worms but I don’t have time for that today)
Then we have the opposite spectrum. Characters who are loved.
Kai Satou, literal ex assassin who drank poison as a child? Apparently he doesn’t know what swears are.
Nao Egokoro, who in one route of the game kills everyone? Like that happens. She kills everyone. Well she’s just a cutesy artist lesbian.
(Also Kai threatened Nao at knifepoint to attack an innocent person in canon but that never gets unpacked anywhere in the fandom)
Hell the uwufication has gotten so bad that Shin Tsukimi SHIN FUCKING TSUKIMI, the antagonist of the game for a good chunk of the run time is reduced down to being just a little guuuuuuy! Baby booooooy! The fact he spent so long tormenting a literal child is treated as a funny little quirk! And look, I’ll be the first person to advocate for Shin and Sara being a well written relationship and their eventual bond meaning a lot to me, but Shin has gotten so many passes for being a fan favorite and (dare I say it) being a twink.
And like. There’s also the weird limbo with Keiji. Oooooh Keiji. See, you can make a post pointing out Shins mistakes and everyone goes “He’s so funny <3” but if you make a very similar post about Keiji the literal day after those people will say “Ugh, thank you this is why I hate Keiji.”
So look. I love Keiji. I make fanart of Keiji. I obsessively write meta of Keiji. I blorbo tag Keiji. I am like the only person in the world who thinks that with the way Nankidai has written the story, killing off Keiji would be a bad move…
But here’s the thing.
Keiji is a flawed character. Like extremely flawed. He’s meant to be a direct foil to Shin, but rather than antagonizing our main character, he’s sitting in the chair next to her as her main assistant. He cares about her deeply, but in the beginning of the game, his only interest with her is using her as a figurehead for his own survival, and no matter how much he wants to protect her now, that initial approach is not without consequences. He has hurt people, and he uses that fact to hurt people more as his own self inflicted punishment. He has changed and grown over the narrative but he’s not someone you can put in an easy box of good or bad.
So people tend to go to one extreme or the other with him. Either he’s the best dad who does no wrong, or he is the worst character ever and the game would be so much better without him. It really sucks that Keiji and Sara, one of the most complex and interesting relationships in the game, and one that is out front and center so comically often, to the point that 3-1b revolves around it, is ignored to such a degree that the contract, the main point of that scene, the fact you were meant to be put in Sara’s shoes and feel her making that decision was missed by the fandom so they could whine about not getting to make the decision themselves! Reading comprehension zero! Literally where is the meta and fanfic?! Greenblings has tons of it! Do I have to do everything mys-
Also like, there’s also characters explicitly meant to be not sympathetic who do get sympathy. Like, idk how hard Nankidai has to look into the camera and tell you Midori is just like that for you to stop giving him backstories. People probably do that so it’s easier to ship him with Shin tbh. Stop that.
Okay one last thing, and I’ll stop. This fandom is weirdly focused on shipping. Like I love shipping don’t get me wrong, but yttd is like not about shipping. At all. There’s twenty different extremely fucked up and interesting found family dynamics in the game and people are worried about whose Alice gonna take to the jailhouse prom. Okay. Gothi out.

hey venus! i hope you're doing well these days, and if not, i hope things get better for you soon! reminder to eat something, hydrate, and take any meds you need if you haven't already!
hmmm, for the recent headcanon ask game, would you be willing to do 👻 💝 and 🌟 for ouma? or if you don't want to do that, 👽 and ❤️🔥 for kai satou from yttd? up to you!
take care of yourself, i love you very much <3 /p
- rei ☀️
REI MY SWEETIE !!!!!!! HAIII :3
im doing well !!! probably will go to sleep soon but we'll see how that goes . i hope ur doing well too :')
beyond the surface level phobia of bugs which i reblogged an answer from my moot earlier which i thought was super funny !!! i think on a more complex level ouma is afraid of a lot of things . he's super fucking paranoid and i dont think it's an exaggeration to say he's very frightened of harukawa . it's probably not a stretch to say that he's afraid his plan will fail and everyone will continue to die, too . i think he's just a hyper-cautious person generally , and someone who tries to plan for every eventuality , and it really comes back to bite him in the form of his crippling paranoia .
love language !!! this one is tricky , but i think from the game we can surmise that one of his love languages is ... giving people the things they need , rather than the things they want . sort of a touch-love situation ? that's not to say sometimes he doesn't do it to be mean or cruel , like in gokuhara's trial where he confessed out of spite and threw gokuhara under the bus , but he does it a lot FOR his classmates to find the truth as an ends-justify-the-means thing . i use it a lot in sleep awake , like when he takes phys' painkillers even though he sees they want them badly , because he knows they're bad for them , and when he deliberately doesn't give phys all the anwsers / lets them connect the dots themself even if it's frustrating to them , because it ends up making them more confident in their deduction in the long run .
ouma's desires/wishes is tricky . in the killing game canon he WANTS to shut it down with as few people dying as possible , wants his classmates to stop killing each other , etc. thats a very short-term goal , though , entirely reliant on being in the killing game . im not sure about long term because we dont rly know anything canon about him outside the killing game ... it depends on whether you assume the dice backstory is made up or not ? if it is and he's just a normal kid who volunteered to be on dr , i have no idea what he would want because he doesnt rly exist as a character . if dice is real + that whole backstory , i assume he wants to stay with his gang and do his lil pranks . longterm though ? im not sure . if we're just talking sleep awake ..... hm! go back and check the ch5 out-of-context spoilers if ur rly curious :)

Hello I’m sorry to bother you but what exactly is comship? Are you talking about ship commissions or something?
Comship stands for Complicated/Complex shipping, and (to my knowledge) is used in two ways.
One way (the way this blog is using the term) is to describe fictional pairings that would be considered taboo in nature. It describes the nature of the ship involved as taboo, but goes into no further specifics.
The other way comship is sometimes used is to describe the act itself of pairing those characters together.
The reason we use this word for this blog is because it best fits the blog's pairings. If those kinds of ships of taboo nature create discomfort, we recommend filtering the comship tag, instructions on doing so can be found scrolling back through the blog.
However, if my knowledge of these terms is wrong, I'd be happy for any followers to correct me, and I'll edit the post accordingly. - Mod Satou (She/Her Only) The mods of this blog use a COLLECTIVE Shes/Hers/Herselves pronoun (e.g. Both the mods on comshipbracket have been working hard lately. I really enjoy hers blog and hope shes are doing well and not overexerting herselves.)
