This is a major shot in the dark, but does anyone happen to have video files of those live action His Favorite commercials that aired in Japan in 2015? They aren’t on YouTube anymore and the only one I can find on Dailymotion has a watermark and some edition on it. 

I need them for a thing I want to do about the series and how it’s such a long runner, but there’s so little easily available outside information about it. 

Update to this: I found one of them on YouTube with Chinese subtitles, but I know there’s three others.

-- To me, when you were an active competitor, you always skated with a certain air of self-confidence and self-assurance around you.

It was depicted in the anime, too, but the few words that you hear from your coach before you step on the ice are very important. It has a lot to do with how well you know each other [with your coach] and how much you trust each other. In my case, every time, I heard the same words - "Look right at the judges. Okay, do your best. Do the best that you can and come back here". When I did good during the practice session, I think he also added something like: "Be self-confident". But I don't remember it that well. You are always sort of listening and sort of not listening, in that moment (laugh).

-- How was you relationship with your coach, Sato Nobuo, like?

We spent a lot of time together, so he was more like a parent to me than my actual parents. In my case, my coach was around the same age as my actual dad, so our relationship was like a father and son, but even better. He couldn't come to my competition (because he was accompanying other students at that time) only around twice, maybe? We were together almost all the time.

TRIGUN STAMPEDE: il nuovo trailer è tutto dedicato a Knives e ai Gung-Ho-Guns

La nuova serie animata tratta dall’iconico western sci-fi di Yasuhiro Nightow arriverà in streaming su Crunchyroll da gennaio.

A differenza del precedente, incentrato su Vash e gli altri comprimari, il novo trailer mostrato oggi in occasione dell’Anime NYC (dove si è tenuta la world premiere del primo episodio) si concentra invece sul gran antagonista della storia: Knives, il fratello gemello del Tifone Umanoide.

Il video, inoltre, introduce fugacemente anche alcuni membri della Gung-Ho-Guns, la posse di sicari da lui riunita.

La trasmissione di “TRIGUN STAMPEDE”, l’attesa nuova serie animata tratta dal celebre manga di Yasuhiro Nightow (Blood Blockade Battlefront), arriverà in simulcast su Crunchyroll da gennaio 2023.

Realizzato in computer grafica presso ORANGE (Land of the Lustrous, Beastars), questo nuovo adattamento completo dell’iconico western sci-fi anni ‘90 è diretto da Kenji Muto (direttore d’episodio in Land of the Lustrous e in Garo: Honoo no Kokuin).

La bozza televisiva della storia è firmata da Takehiko Okishi (autore della novel Hakozoko no Elpis) e la sceneggiatura è curata da Tatsuro Inamoto, Shin Okashima e Yoshihisa Ueda.

Il concept design è ad opera di Koji Tajima, mentre del character design si occupano Kodai Watanabe, Tetsuro Moronuki, Takahiko Abiru, Akiko Sato, Soji Ninomiya e Yumihiko Amano, con in testa Nao Ootsu (Beastars, The Idaten Deities Know Only Peace), che fa anche da supervisore.

Per quanto riguarda le musiche, invece, la colonna sonora è realizzata da Tatsuya Kato (Free!, Fate/kaleid liner Prisma Illya, Dr. Stone).

In un mondo impietosamente battuto da due soli, dominato da immense ed aride distese di sabbia, vive Vash the Stampede, Vash il tifone umanoide, Vash il leggendario ricercato da 60 miliardi di doppi dollari. Ma Vash sarà davvero l'efferato pistolero di cui tutti parlano?

Milly Thompson e Meryl Stryfe, due affascinanti agenti della compagnia di assicurazioni Bernardelli, vengono messe alle sue costole per evitare ulteriori richieste di risarcimento. A poco a poco, le due scoprono che, sepolta da un profondo strato di leggende urbane, si nasconde una verità molto differente…

“Trigun” venne lanciato i Giappone nel 1995, ma la serializzazione si interruppe nel 1997 a causa della chiusura della rivista sulla quale veniva pubblicato, venendo quindi rilanciato come “Trigun Maximum” e concluso nel 2007. Il manga è stato portato in Italia prima da Dynit e poi da J-POP Manga.

Nel 1998 lo studio MADHOUSE (Police in a Pod, No Guns Life) ne ha tratto una serie animata di 26 episodi, che per forza di cose segue solo parzialmente il materiale originale.

Nel 2010 è poi arrivato anche il film d’animazione dal titolo “Trigun: Badlands Rumble”, basato su una storia scritta dall’autore assieme al regista Satoshi Nishimura (Karakuri CIrcus, Ushio e Tora); entrambi sono distribuiti in Italia da Dynit.

I honestly adore the characters and their designs but I especially love the interactions between the characters. I hope more people get into it.

TRIGUN STAMPEDE: il Tifone Umanoide di Yasuhiro Nightow si prepara a tornare in tv con un nuovo trailer

La serie animata targata studio Orange arriverà su Crunchyroll da gennaio 2023.

Alzi la mano chi, come me, considerava “Trigun” un appuntamento fisso della mitica Anime Night di MTV. Per quanto imperfetta, porto tuttora quella serie nel cuore e sapere che il leggendario uomo da 60 miliardi di doppi dollari sta per tornare in tv, mi riempie di nostalgia. 

Lo ammetto, da buon boomer, il fatto che “TRIGUN STAMPEDE” sarà realizzata in computer grafica, con un design “modernizzato”, mi ha fatto storcere un po’ il naso. A vedere il nuovo trailer uscito oggi, però, sembra proprio che lo studio ORANGE (Land of the Lustrous, Beastars) abbia lavorato bene.

Le espressioni mi danno un po’ di senso di déjà vu a la “Beastars” e il framerate non è fluidissimo, ma il tutto pare ben amalgamato e coreografato; non avendo, colpevolmente, mai recuperato il manga di Yasuhiro Nightow (Blood Blockade Battlefront), sono molto curioso di vedere questa nuova serie animata, che ricordo arriverà in simulcast su Crunchyroll da gennaio 2023.

SHL 2012 ending letter

I originally thought that I want to share my thoughts after watching the live viewing of Super Handsome Live (SHL) 2012 on July 15, but because it will be filled mostly with my ramblings about Takeru’s performances and antics, I decided not to continue on that way LOL.

One thing I can say for anyone here still wondering to watch it or not, especially if you’re a fan of Takeru, because SHL 2012 was his last year performing in the whole event, it’s worth every single penny.

So instead of ramblings, I decided to share a quick translation for a letter that is read during the ending of the show, written and read by all performers. For me, this is a beautiful thank you letter from them 💖

Kazama Yujiro: All of you, thank you for today. At the end of this day, all of us have the same thoughts to tell to all of you, so we wrote this letter together.

Yoshimura Takuya: We as actors, normally don't have that many chances to directly meet all of you who have been rooting for us.

Totani Kimito: That's why we arranged this yearly Handsome Live, so we can directly deliver our gratitude to all of you.

Aoyagi Ruito: To enjoy together even more, to laugh together even more, to be able to feel the excitement together even more, we created this event as a result of our intense practice.

Kamiki Ryuunosuke: We are worried if our current effort is correct. However after listening to your voices and seeing your smiles, for the first time we are able to feel relieved.

Izuka Kenta: One smile creates new smiles, thus becoming a much bigger smile.

Mizuta Kouki: You can believe that the connection is not one-sided, that you are connected with us.

Koseki Yuta: Thank you for supporting us. Thank you for pushing our back.

Matsushima Shota: Thank you for walking together with us.

Yanagisawa Takahiko: The gratitude we want to tell you, is not enough with only one word.

Uehara Takuya: Thank you very, very much.

Nomura Shuhei: During hard times, during lonely times enough to make you cry, we hope that you will remember this day.
