I appreciate many reactions to the previous post. I just wanted to add to avoid unfortunate misunderstandings. It is fine (by me) to celebrate the “imperfection” within your own creation. I am nowhere to define what “perfect” and “beauty” are. The posts are not triggered by any specific people. I feel it is like a trend now (phenomena), so please do not feel that I am accusing someone specific. ☆ In fact, my message contains something similar to “Beauty in Imperfection” such as “Do not focus on the result much” or “stop judging what you can do and enjoy who you are”. However, in my understanding, “Beauty in Imperfection” is more like a mindset - not the result itself (only). ☆ The people I respect try(ied) to be better in Sashiko. They try to stitch as “perfect” as a human possible can be. Doing Sashiko for a few months and defining Sashiko as the “beauty in imperfection” for others is kinda insulting. Again, it is fine if it concludes within oneself. ☆ - - ☆ Sashiko is NOT a practice to embrace the imperfection. We enjoy Sashiko as a beautiful stitching because of their years of practice & improving. Again, it is fine when someone celebrates the beauty in imperfection. However, when you tell others about Sashiko, please keep these words in your mind - Sashiko is not about embracing the beauty in imperfection. Keiko and I try to make a living by Sashiko. Therefore, most of the Sashiko items we share are for sale. Jackets, Bags, pieces of fabric with Sashiko, 90% of the items have a price tag (or we can put the price on it). I had prioritized my work on offering Sashiko supplies on busy days (under Covid-19 and stay-at-home father). When I have more time, I will introduce each piece with sizing, pricing, and with more photos.  ☆ For jackets, we can make only a few of these every year. Every stitch is hand-stitched. Thanks to many customers, most of the jackets/bags are sold. However, since every jacket is hand-made, we can make a similar one (if it is made with vintage fabrics, then we will try our best to make it “similar”). I am happy to have your inquiry for the estimate & detail designing. We do work for “custom tailored Jacket/bag” and commission as well (Stitching on the denim is temporary unavailable). ☆ I welcome an inquiry about pricing and availability. However, please be serious & considerate when you contact me. Every stitch is hand-stitched. We use the best materials available - including Natural Dye. It takes months to make one piece. Each Jacket is one of a kind. A Sashiko jacket will not have a price tag of a mass-produced jacket. Based on work, more than 500 (or more) hours will be spent into one jacket. An inquiry expecting a jacket to be a few hundreds usd is pretty sad... So your understanding is much appreciated before sending me an inquiry. Sashi.Co & Keiko Futatsuya are suspending all of the activities/plans between 4/18 to 5/31 due to the Gifu State & Japanese national emergency (please check Keiko’s English website for more information). One news delivered me a mixed feeling - sad, empathy, and encouragement. One of the groups of artisans we had built a good relationship decided to go “part-time” from “full-time”. They will still take our orders, and nothing will dramatically change, but I cannot stop thinking about the reason behind it. They are very passionate and ambitious in what they do, yet they are going to part-time in doing what they are proud of. This isn’t someone’s story. It can happen to us anytime, any moment. It is how difficult it is to “be above the bread line” in hand-crafting. Again, even for us, without your support, we would need to go “part-time” as we were just a few years ago. ☆ Financially speaking, what I choose doesn’t make sense. High-risk and low return (in terms of money). Yet, we learn that there are people waiting for our Sashiko, stories, and sharing. After enjoying a beautiful day with daughter and friends, I just realize my voice was gone when I woke up at midnight. I felt no symptoms of sickness, (although I felt the difficulty of uttering the words last evening), so it was a quite surprise. I think it is getting better. Although I believe the Sashiko can be introduced by making “the authentic” one that we define, yet, the voice is also an important way to communicate to share the Sashiko we practice. Well. Another bag by Keiko with a lots of dialogus between Keiko and Fabric. A year long production let Keiko talk to the fabric so much, and she enjoyed the whole process of making. I introduced the special combination of valuable vintage fabric and Hitomezashi with the natural dye Sashiko thread. I found a photo of the bag we made in the past. Because of its value, the bag shocked me how Keiko could stitch on the vintage Oshima silk, but it is all about repurposing the fabric to bring "someone" joy. Add another joy instead of throwing it away. A photo of a completely "used" drawstring bag and smartphone bag. They have (had) been a great company to my business trips. ★ A series of workshop means a continuous stressful days. In these tention, those "Sashiko Items" reminds me of my father, who was kind of smiling for no appreant reasons.
