Overhaul - in contrast to both Nighteye and Shigaraki - is the worst boss. Overhaul recruited these people to do his dirty work, but he then found them unclean because they did what he asked of them. Nighteye took responsibility for the shortcomings of his subordinates and defended them in front of other heroes as a good boss should. Shigaraki encouraged the dreams of his comrades and worked with the League as a member of a team without suppressing their individuality.

Overhaul demanded his underlings cover their faces as a form of dehumanization - a visible demonstration of their value as nothing more than pawns. It is another parallel to All for One. All for One also had a habit of covering the faces of people he suppressed with his hand - Yoichi, Shigaraki, and almost every time he was shown giving/taking a quirk. Though in some ways, Overhaul was more thorough in this dehumanization and obsession with staying out of harms way than All for One. As All for One had at least one follower he never suppressed in this way - Garaki. And All for One under some circumstances was more willing to put his own health and safety at risk to pursue his goals (though to some extent that may have been because he believed he would soon have a new body anyway).

Anytime I think of soft Overhaul, my mind immediately goes to Sasaki! He's already blunt and forward, but he would be a awkward shy dork.

It's not just me, is is?

Plus, Kellen Goff voices both in the dubbed. This man deserves more credit and love just like our favorite anime guys.

God, we need more soft Overhaul. True, our birdman is a very prideful man and hates to show any kind of weakness, which is a huge disadvantage for a Yakuza Boss. He's still human and I'm certain would be a big ol' softie behind closed doors with his special person and lover. On top, of him wanting to hog all of your attention, hugs, kisses and cuddles.

Kai would smile more, playful and teasing. Thinking his partners blush and flustered expressions are adorable. Lightly run his soft and glove free hands over every inch of their body with feathery light touches.

Our antisocial baby is sooo touch-starved for love and attention as his sweet and gentle kisses become more desperate, demanding and needy. Putting all of his overwhelmed feelings into it. Breaking away for air to press his forehead again theirs.

As lust and desires makes itself present, he doesn't want to ruin the moment. He wants to treasure this feeling of warmth, adoration and pure love he sees in his angel's gaze, in his room, in his bed, their own sanctuary from the rest of the world.

He's addicted and love-drunk, he's with the only person he never wants to let go and be with forever.

His angel, too pure for this wicked and cruel world. His special one to protect.

About the theme surrounding eyes, i think toshinori is probably the most in your face character that portrays the entire metaphor of the "light in your eyes". In his hero form, his eyes look fully black, but in his normal form, his pupils are shining as a portrayal of his hope and heroic spirit. (I love the detail in the anime of his eyes fully shining during kamino, even after afo tries to destroy his image and spirit). And as we see in armored might vs afo, his eyes revert back to normal as a metaphor to him coming to life. The persona and the name/quirk being related to one's identity are huge themes in the story, but now that you pointed out, the eyes and masks as metaphors are also a big focus!

Exactly. And All Might is a good example as his character foil is All for One, who for most of the story had no eyes at all. And even when rewound, there was never any light there.

But the Overhaul Arc is interesting in that it bucks the trend of the hero with the light of hope in their eyes versus the villain who can't believe in a future. Early Overhaul was drawn with light in his eyes throughout this arc: he fully believed in the future he wanted to create. His heroic foil, Sir Nighteye, was consistently drawn without any light in his eyes. Sir Nighteye could see nothing but despair in the future and never truly believed it could be avoided.
