Together {3}
Paring: Derek Morgan x Latina!reader
Summary: You had a big surprise for him. So when you and Derek go and visit his mother for her birthday, you figured it would be the best way to tell them. To tell his family; however, things don't go as planned when Derek gets arrested. Memories flood the both of you as you figured out how to fight this nightmare together.
Tigger warning: mention of sexual assault and abuse.
{1} {2} {4}
You were instantly hugged when you arrived at Derek's mom's house. His mom held you tightly, whispering how she was worried about you. Sarah and Desiree stood close behind, and you could see it in their eyes. They were suffering, just like you were. "I'm sorry." You wrapped your arms around her.
"Did you eat? Where did you go?" She placed a hand on your shoulders, pulling back from the hug. Her eyes searched your face as she touched your cheek. "Oh honey," You knew she could tell you were exhausted. You were drained even if you gave them your best smile. "You look tired."
"I'm fine." You reassured her. You didn't want to add more to their worries. Soft steps behind you reminded you who else tagged along. You cleared your throat and slightly moved away. "Right, uhm," You looked at Emily and Reid, who waited outside the door. "These people are here to talk about Derek. They work with him, and they're here to help." You motioned them in.
"I hope you don't mind if we ask you all a few questions about Morgan." Emily took a step inside the house. Her eyes quickly glanced around before looking back at Derek's mom. "It shouldn't take too long. We need to understand why this is happening." You felt the way Derek's mom shifted closer to you. You smiled at her as you rubbed her arm.
"I'm gonna go shower." You excused yourself and went to the room. You grabbed some clothes, took a hoodie from Derek, and went straight for the bathroom. You turned on the water and allowed it to run as you sat on the toilet seat. Hands in your lap as you looked at them, nails digging into the side of your fingers.
"Nadie te va a amar como yo. (No one is going to love you like I do)" His voice sounded so close to your ear as you squeezed them shut. You could feel his hands touch the side of your arms as the goosebumps rose and the way he kissed the side of your neck. The bile was stuck in your throat as you were too scared to move. To say anything as his fingers played with the hem of your shirt. "I love you the way you should be loved." You were too scared to move.
A small yell caused you to snap out of your thoughts. You shook your head and got in the shower. You could feel the lingering touch of his fingers on your skin. The kisses he had placed on your neck, and you grabbed the rag and scrubbed your body. You scrubbed the places where you felt his touches until your skin was red. You scrubbed until it hurt. You hated this feeling as you knew it wasn't happening. It was all just memories; you were away from him but couldn't help but feel disgusted. As the warm water hits your skin, you let out a slight hiss from the irritation. You ignored it as you went on to wash your hair.
When you had finished showering, you changed and walked out. You could feel the tension in the air. Your eyes traveled to each one of them. Reid quietly looked through the book filled with Derek's things. Emily was no longer here, along with the other detective. Fran got up when she saw you; she moved past Desiree. "Let me warm you some food up." She didn't wait for an answer as she started to cook something quick.
"How are you feeling?" Sarah's eyes took me in as you neared the table.
"Tired." You told her as you pulled out a chair. "Just ready for this to all be over." You didn't have the energy in you at the moment. It seemed now that you were in the safety of his mom's house; it was drained out of you, and all you wanted to do was curl up in a ball. Sarah didn't push anymore, and Desiree placed a glass of water before you. You looked at it before looking up at her. She touched your shoulder and slightly nodded before moving to the couch. Fran placed a plate down, and you took in the scrambled eggs. The plate also had some toast, fruit, and cherry tomatoes cut in half. The smell of the eggs caused a cry of hunger from your stomach as you placed a hand over your stomach. Reid observed you. The way you lightly rubbed your stomach, a flash of emotion crossed your eyes. It seemed like you huddled in the sweater that was too big on you, which he assumed was Derek's. And then, when you took a bit of the egg and frowned, a hand covering your mouth, it all clicked in his mind.
"You're pregnant." Reid put down a photo he had in his hand. Your head snapped over to him so quickly you thought you pulled a muscle as you looked at him with wide eyes. "It explains why you were very emotional at the precinct." You could tell he was ready to list all the facts that made him assume why you were pregnant, so you stopped him before he could. You held a hand up and forced yourself to swallow the egg. The taste did cause a slight stir in your stomach, but you had refused to give in to the chances of throwing up.
"Reid," You gave him a slight glare. "If you open your mouth about this to anyone else, I will kill you and get away with it." Your threat was empty, but Reid knew better either way. He curled his lips in and gave you a nod.
"Got it," He placed a finger up to his lips. "I won't say a thing."
"Thank you." You sighed and looked back at the food in front of you. Your appetite was lost, but you knew that you had to eat. Willing yourself to keep eating, you silently listened to the small talk his sisters would engage with Reid. Derek's mom sat beside you, joining in and glancing at you, ensuring you were okay. It was clear that Derek's sisters were worried for you as well, but none of them wanted to push you, worried about how you would react. It was stressful, and they didn't want to add any more stress to you.
~~~~~~~~~
You gripped Derek's hoodie close to your chest. You waited outside for Hotch and Gideon but, at the same time, tried to avoid Derek's family. You knew they were worried when they had to wake you up, saying you had been crying in your sleep and calling out to stop. You could see the questioning look in their gaze that you were glad to have the call interrupt them. When you answered, and Hotch told you that Derek had escaped, your heart dropped. You were worried because this wouldn't look good on him, but before your worries could get out of hand, he told you that he knew where he was. Hotch also said he would need you to accompany them, and you got ready. The hoodie kept you warm, but you still felt cold as you pulled on a sweater. When the SUV pulled up, you didn't wait as you rushed over. You heard the door unlocked and jumped in the back seat. "Where is he?" You asked as Hotch sped off.
"At the youth center. We are meeting CPD there." You knew Derek went there a lot to visit the kids, but when you asked him about Carl– the man who helped him– you could see how he would push the pain that painted his eyes. There was something that Derek hadn't told you about that place, about his past, but you never pushed it. You always waited until he was ready to tell you, just like he told you about the little boy he found at 15. "He's going to need your support." It was a weight on your chest. You didn't like that Derek was taking on so much alone. You knew working at the BAU took a mental toll on him, but he never showed it. You felt the lump in your throat as you neared the youth center.
Just as Hotch pulled close, you didn't even wait for the car to stop as you jumped out. You stumbled out as you rushed through the front doors. Hotch and Gideon follow behind you as you hear Derek's voice. The pain it held only made you push towards him faster. "God, I was so afraid of you." A hand grabbed your arm, slowing you down as you tried to pull away. You looked over your shoulder, and Hotch shook his head. "I was afraid of the police, afraid of losing everything I was gaining, but that's how you work, isn't it." You could hear the resentment build up in his voice. "You make sure there's a hell of a lot to lose, don't you."
"I don't know whatcha think you remember." A new voice spoke up; you could only assume it was Carl.
"No, no, no. See, it's not what I remember that's gonna hurt you, Carl. Our business is over way too long ago to matter. You're protected by a statute of limitations; that's my fault." You knew you were being held back so that CPD could hear it themselves. Hear that this wasn't Derek's fault.
"Then good night." Carl didn't seem phased by whatever Derek was hinting at.
"You set me up." Hotch gave you a look as you frowned. You nodded and shook him off as he released his hold on you. "You knew Damien Walters wanted James to call me about you. So you killed him? You killed him because you knew I'd come after you, didn't you?" You close your eyes as you take in a shaky breath. You hated hearing the slight weaver in Derek's voice because you knew he was trying not to break.
"Now you're just talkin' crazy."
"God, I should have told somebody about you when I was a kid!" You heard him move as he raised his voice. "When you were helping me." You could hear the mocking tone in his voice. "Well, you know what happens in cases like this? Once that dam breaks, the flood comes. One kid steps up– just one– and then another one, and another because they're not scared of you anymore. They know they're not alone." You finally understood why Derek always looked slightly hateful when Carl was ever mentioned. His voice always had a slightly distasteful sound as he changed the topic. "James Barfield is your dam."
"Whatever lies James told you-" Carl raised his voice as he needed to defend himself.
"They're not lies!" Derek yelled. "You did the same thing to me!" The tears stung your eyes as you had to fight the urge to cry.
"I did nothing to you. To James."
"One by one. They're gonna pile up until there's so many accusations, you can't say that they're all lies."
"Do you have any idea how many kids I helped get out of this neighborhood?" Carl now stopped denying it. A conceited tone in his voice. "How many lives I've provided." You couldn't help the disgusted look that crossed your face as you let out a quiet scoff. That son of bitch sounded so full of himself. It was like he was on a high and mighty chair, and nothing would bring him down. "Look at you. You'd probably be dead by now."
"Yeah," Derek's voice broke. "Well, it wasn't for free, was it?"
"I pulled you out of the gutter," Carl said as if he was the reason why Derek was the man he was. Trying to take credit for all the good Derek has done as if it were his.
"I pulled myself out of the gutter, all the way to the FBI!" Derek raised his voice. "I did that!" You couldn't help the tears that slipped down your cheek.
"You sayin' I had nothin' to do with making you who you are?" Carl sounded angry as if Derek was denying him the credit he deserved.
"No, Carl," Derek's voice was calm, and you knew it was taking a lot for him not to lash out. To not break. "Actually, I'm saying you have everything to do with making me who I am. Because of you, I'm somebody who gets to spend the rest of his life making sure guys like you go down."
"Look, Derek, I never hurt you. You could have said no."
"You're under arrest, Carl."
"I've helped a lot of kids," Carl tried to defend himself. "The neighborhood won't be the same without me! It's gonna be worse without the center!" You could hear the cuffs being placed on him as you moved closer to the door. Your eyes landed on Derek's back.
"Somebody will keep this center running." Carl resisted the detectives. "The neighborhood will. I will." You understood why Hotch brought you here.
"Wait, wait!" Carl tried to pull his arms from behind him. "Derek, isn't there something you can do for me?" You narrowed your eyes on the man, astonished he had the audacity to demand something like that from Derek.
"You go to hell." You watched as Carl was pulled out. He walked past you, and you had to remind yourself not to lash out. You felt the need to give that man a bit of what was on your mind, but you didn't. And when Gordinski followed behind them, a small excuse me leaving his lips as he moved around you, your eyes landed on Derek's figure again. He turned around, and you saw the tears he held back as he looked at you and the two men behind you. He closed his eyes and clenched his jaw, not saying a word. You knew he didn't want anyone to see him like this; you didn't blame him.
"Derek," You said softly as you stepped towards him, cleaning the tears from your face. When he didn't respond, you called out for him again. "Derek." You reached out and grabbed his hands, balled into a fist. You moved to cup his cheeks. "Cariño, mírame (dear, look at me)" You spoke softly, trying to draw his attention to you. He opened his eyes slowly and looked down at you. You could see the pain in his eyes. "You are so strong and have every right to feel those emotions." His hand moved to your side. You pulled him closer, wrapping your arms around his neck as you hugged him. "I believe you, amor, (love) and I'm so sorry you had to deal with this alone." He took in a shaky breath as he held onto you tightly. "We will get through this together." You promised him softly as you kissed his temple.
"Together." He said softly and you could feel the way he shook as he cried quietly into your shoulder.
In every generation, there is a chosen one — again.
Variety has learned from sources that a sequel series to the beloved show “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” is nearing a pilot order at Hulu.
Sources say that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in final talks to once again play the iconic title character in the untitled project, although it would focus on a new Slayer and Gellar would appear in a recurring role rather than leading the series.
Nora Zuckerman and Lila Zuckerman are attached to write, showrun, and executive produce. Chloé Zhao is attached to direct and executive produce under her Book of Shadows production banner. Gellar would also executive produce along with Gail Berman. Fran Kuzui and Kaz Kuzui will executive produce via Suite B, while Dolly Parton will executive produce via Sandollar. 20th Television and Searchlight Television will produce. Berman, the Kuzuis, and Parton were all executive producers on the original “Buffy” series.
Reps for Hulu and 20th TV declined to comment.
Noticeably absent from the show’s creative team is Joss Whedon, who created the original series and oversaw its seven-season run. As Variety reported in 2021, Whedon was accused of creating a toxic work environment on both “Buffy” and the spinoff series “Angel” by nearly a dozen people associated with the show.
“Buffy” and “Angel” actress Charisma Carpenter also spoke out against Whedon, with fellow cast members like Amber Benson and Michelle Trachtenberg backing up her allegations. Whedon responded to those and other allegations against him in January 2022, admitting that he had been “not mannerly” with Carpenter but otherwise saying “Most of my experiences with Charisma were delightful and charming.”
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” originated as a film starring Kristy Swanson in the title role. Whedon wrote the film with Fran Kuzui directing. It was released in 1992. Five years later, the series version starring Gellar debuted on The WB. It would air on The WB for its first five seasons before airing its final two seasons on UPN. The cast also included Nicholas Brendon, Alyson Hannigan, Carpenter, Anthony Stewart Head, David Boreanaz, Seth Green, and James Marsters among others. Boreanaz would then head up the spinoff series “Angel” at The WB for five seasons.
“Buffy the Vampire Slayer” has proven to be a massive cult hit and highly influential since its debut. The series is credited for helping to popularize ongoing story arcs in television while also building a show around a strong female lead. It is frequently cited as one of the best television shows of all time.
Whedon previously penned a series of comic books with Dark Horse that continued the story of the series, though no new “Buffy” project has ever made it to screen. Most recently, it was reported in 2018 that Monica Owusu-Breen was working on a reboot of the series with Whedon onboard as an executive producer. Ultimately, that version of the project never went forward.
Gellar can currently be seen in the prequel series “Dexter: Original Sin” on Paramount+ with Showtime. Though she is perhaps best known for her time on “Buffy,” Gellar’s other notable TV credits include Paramount+’s “Wolf Pack,” CBS’ ”The Crazy Ones” opposite Robin Williams, and The CW’s “Ringer.” In film, she has starred in features like “Cruel Intentions,” “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” the two live-action “Scooby Doo” movies, and “The Grudge.”
The Zuckermans were the showrunners on the popular Peacock series “Poker Face” starring Natasha Lyonne during the show’s first season. Their past credits include “Prodigal Son” and “Fringe” at Fox, “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D” at ABC, “Suits” at USA Network, and “Haven” at Syfy. Variety exclusively reported they are also attached to a series adaptation of the novel “The Spy Coast” currently in the works at Amazon.
Zhao received four Oscar nominations for her 2020 film “Nomadland” starring Frances McDormand — best director, best editing, best adapted screenplay, and best picture. Zhao went on to win best director that year with “Nomadland” winning best picture. Zhao is also known for her films “The Rider” and “Songs My Brother Taught Me,” both of which she also wrote and directed. Zhao was also the director and co-writer of the Marvel film “Eternals.”
Gellar is repped by CAA, Linden Entertainment, and Yorn Levine Barnes. The Zuckermans are repped by UTA and Lichter Grossman. Zhao is repped by CAA, Ilene Feldman Management, and Lichter Grossman. Berman is repped by Ziffren Brittenham.
Should the sequel show proceed, it would be the latest series revival to find a home at Hulu. Most recently, Hulu gave a pilot order to a reboot of “Prison Break.” The streamer currently airs new episodes of the adult animated comedy “Futurama,” while a new installment of “King of the Hill” is currently in the works.
So I watched the Jungle Fury panel when it dropped on YT last night, and nothing was more cathartic than hearing Sarah Thomson sharing her idea of Fran as an Orange owl-themed Ranger after having that same headcanon for weeks
(Also hearing her talk about her favorite moments on set being when she was covered in food was hilarious)
#granted it was pretty obvious because she’s so bird/owl coded#but it was still amazing to see#i love jf but she was the main reason i watched this panel#(she brought up how she’d be matching orange with dom but that was the only ick)#otherwise goated panel#love the entire cast but especially her & david de lautour#if you haven’t seen the jungle fury panel go watch it it’s so funny#power rangers jungle fury#fran jungle fury#(still mad she doesn't have a canon last name)#prjf
WORLD CLASS SINNER - FRANK CASTLE
two - if he had been with me
tags: n/a // one // three // masterlist
Pairing: Billy x Livia (Casual) , Frank x Livia (Platonic)
Word Count: 7,195
Summary: Further and further her humanity goes as Livia commits herself to Frank Castle's crusade. Small moments threaten to bring her back, but how can she when there's nothing worth it... Or is there.
The next morning, you woke in a start with the same dream. A hand flying to your chest while the other rubbed the nonexistent blood out of your eye. Glancing around while the room spun for moments, you recognized you weren’t in the rubble but in your bed. Although the weight against your chest would’ve argued otherwise. When you got back from washing your face, Billy was awake and sitting at the edge of the bed.
“You still dream about him?” He asked simply.
“Hmm?” Your brows raised innocently. “Dream about who?”
“C’mon, Livia. I hear you talkin’ in your sleep. Mumblin’ about your precious Matt. It was like that before you left too.”
You shrugged and leaned on the doorframe. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“And you took down some of the pictures. And the painting.”
“You’re starting to sound like my friends, Billy.” You said with a slight edge to your tone.
“That’s a bad thing now?”
“It’s an annoying thing right now.” You countered. “There’s a reason I’m avoiding them.”
“Y/N.. If you need more time-” He tried and you groaned as you pushed yourself up. “Don’t do that!”
“You know where the door is once your pants are on!” You called over your shoulder, waving a hand goodbye while you headed to your kitchen. “Don’t embarrass yourself in front of Miss Fran across the hall. She’ll stop being nice to me.”
There was a quiet commotion while he shuffled around your bedroom, finding the sporadic trail of clothes before he made his way over to you. He leaned against the countertop while you busied your hands and attention on the stove.
“Livia, I’m not trynna make you talk about somethin’ you don’t want to, alright? Bringing up your guy crossed a line. I’m sorry…” He offered gently. Honestly. And the sentiment made you roll your eyes to yourself. “I just wanna make sure you’re good.”
You sighed heavily and turned towards him. “I’m fine.” You offered a tight, meaningless smile. “Happy?”
He shook his head and sighed inwardly while you turned away.
“So.. How long do I still have you for?” He asked instead.
“What?” Your brows furrowed at the odd question.
“Your words. You can’t work Anvil and your hotshot FBI gig at the same time. When is it official?”
“Oh.. I don’t know. I got my badge before I left so Dex tells me we’re just waiting on the SAC to get the go-ahead. I can work as a freelancer if you need me in the meantime.”
“I always need you.”
“Yeah, okay.” You scoffed. “When’s your next recruitment?”
“I gotta check, but I’ll let you know.. You wanna come with me later? I gotta go see Curtis.”
“No, I gotta take care of some other stuff.” You brushed him off, knowing you had to devote some time today to finding Frank and Micro. “But I’m going to Curtis’ meeting today so we should cross paths.”
“Then I will see you later.” He nodded before pushing off to get ready to leave.
Once he was gone, you got yourself ready. You took a quick shower and wore an outfit fitting for an FBI agent, given that was the guise you would use to get into her house, and clipped your badge to your belt. You dug through your collection to find one of the pocket devices that came in handy when it came to cameras and signals, for nothing more than your own hunch for an NSA agent’s house. You added your gun to the back of your belt - more to pull the persona together than any sort of threat - and headed out to Sarah Lieberman’s.
As you drove over to the house, Dex called. He asked if you wanted in on a potential investigation, something about Carson Wolf being murdered in his own home the night before. It was an interesting coincidence given the fact that Frank had returned and a separate agent was asking questions about him. You had no doubts that Frank was involved but it did leave a nice chance to find out just how dirty Wolf was to get himself killed. You agreed to throw your name into the pot.
“Hi, are you Sarah Lieberman?” You asked politely and she shifted uncomfortably in her doorway.
“Yes. Can I help you?” She asked tightly and you saw the blur of a child running around behind her.
“I’m Special Agent Yersova. May I come in?”
“What is this about?”
“Have you had any sort of odd interactions recently? A man who seemed to have appeared out of the blue.”
“This is about Pete.” She sighed with a nervous chuckle. “I just filed the insurance claim yesterday. I didn’t think it would… Wait, special agent?”
“Yes.” You nodded simply, shifting your jacket to show your badge. “May I come in?”
She nodded quietly and stepped aside, welcoming you in. Once you crossed the threshold, the sharp tone pinged in your ear. You winced inwardly and rubbed the area near your implant, glancing around to find something that would’ve interfered with the signal. There was a camera somewhere, the watchful eye of the ghost of a spouse, and it wasn’t likely to be alone. Your eyes were darting quickly, between corners and other wall decor for the small lens but you couldn’t find anything. Nothing obvious at least.
“Are you alright, Agent?” She asked from your side, offering you the worried eyes that often became the default for mothers.
“Yes, just a migraine.” You gestured vaguely to your head.
“Oh! I have Tylenol. Give me just a second.”
“No, I’d hate to put you out.”
“Nonsense.” She smiled kindly and disappeared into her kitchen.
You made a small noise to yourself before pulling that pocket tech. You booted it up and wandered the living room, changing the height and angle as the screen flashed to track down the nearest camera. As you were searching, you noticed a small body on the stairs watching you.
“Who are you?” He asked with lips pursed in disgust as if to say how dare someone be in his home.
“FBI. Who are you?” You answered simply as your device pointed you to a family portrait. You smirked slightly and tapped some buttons, beginning to track the signal. Before you would leave, you would know exactly where to go.
“I live here.” He stated as if it was obvious.
“It’s a nice house.” You nodded, finally turning to face the disgruntled young boy. “Can I ask you about the man from yesterday?”
“I didn’t see him.”
“Okay..”
“I didn’t!” He insisted.
“I believe you, kiddo.” You chuckled slightly.
“Can I hold your gun?” He asked suddenly.
“Absolutely not.” You shook your head and he frowned. “You get a little older and I can teach you how to use it.”
His eyes lit up before he scampered back up the stairs, and you wondered if that was something Sarah should be concerned about. She came back soon after and she profusely apologized, just in case her son said anything uncalled for. You brushed it off and accepted her offer of painkillers and water. You two spoke about the interaction from the day before between her and “Pete”.
“Mrs. Lieberman, I haven’t been entirely truthful with you.” You confessed, intending to build some sense of trust in case you needed her for information later on. “I’m not just looking for Pete out of coincidence. He’s family… I haven’t heard from him in a long time and the FBI gave me more resources to try and track him down. He’s refused to answer any of my messages across any platform but now I have a chance to reconnect with him.”
“Oh.” She smiled slightly. “Pete didn’t mention a sister.”
“Cousin, actually. All the family I have are just cousins..”
“We exchanged numbers and I can give that.”
“I doubt he’d answer.” You shook your head. “He always seems to know when I’m calling.”
“Okay... Well, my insurance is sending some paperwork that’ll need his signature so I’ll see him again. I can let him know you stopped by.” She offered honestly.
“That’d be great, thank you.” You nodded with a faux sentimental smile. Your tech buzzed in your pocket and you knew you had the source of the signal. “I’d better be going.”
She offered you something to eat, saying you’d be more than welcome to stay for lunch but you brushed off her invitation. You couldn’t waste any more time with socializing and pleasantries. The only thing that stopped you from heading straight over was your prior commitment to stop by Curtis’. The commitment was only made to get Billy out of your apartment without being completely blunt about it, given the fact that you two would still be interacting at Anvil and likely throughout the course of whatever crusade you were riding into. And despite your mild stalling, you ended up walking into Billy and Curtis’ conversation. So you hung back in the hall for a minute to allow yourself to be nosy.
“Mover and a shaker. A man of wealth and taste.” Curtis said and you could hear the smile in his words. “You always knew you were destined to do great things, I’ll give you that.”
The guys both chuckled slightly.
“I can’t tell if you think that’s a good thing or not.” Billy said with a small laugh.
“No, I’m proud of you man.”
“Y’know there’s always a job for you at Anvil... An instructor’s job.”
“Livia finally make it official then and leave your ass?” Curtis asked and you could imagine the expression he wore. “She ever call you back?”
“No but…” Billy sighed and your brows furrowed. “When it comes to Livia, I just…”
“Lose all sense in your head.” Curtis teased.
“I do not!” Billy laughed.
“Man, I have never seen you fawn over any woman like that! You’re like a lost little puppy whenever she comes around.”
“Kiss my ass.” He laughed and you waited a beat before walking in. “It’s not about Livia, alright?”
“Topic of conversation even when I’m not in the room, huh?” You joked with a wide grin. “Nice to see you, Curtis.”
“I was wondering when you’d finally walk through that door.” Curtis grinned and stood to hug you. “How was training?”
“Boring.” You shrugged. “Knew it all.”
“Show off.”
“Yeah, a bit.”
“Livia, don’t you think Curtis would be great as an instructor at Anvil?” Billy tried, coming to your side to use you in their prior conversation.
“Hell of a corpsman from what I heard.” You agreed. “I bet you would’ve sewn your own leg back on if you had the chance.”
“Hell yeah, you wanna go find it?” Curtis laughed. “You gonna stay? I know some of the guys have just been waiting to try and rile you up again.”
“Yeah, I’ve got some time to kill.” You said with a small nod. “Don’t expect me to come in later this week then.”
“Sounds good.. Wanna help get some of the snacks from the kitchen? Keep you outta trouble.” Curtis pointed a stern finger at you.
“C’mon.” You laughed. “When have I ever gotten into trouble?”
“I’ve gotta take off but we still good for tomorrow night?” Billy asked Curtis and you had the itch to be nosy again.
“Yeah, I’ll be there.” Curtis nodded.
“You know making plans when someone else in the room isn’t invited makes people uncomfortable, right?” You said plainly, though it made the boys laugh.
“Tomorrow’s Frank’s birthday.” Curtis explained. “You were his lawyer, right?”
“Yeah, till he blew his top and kamikaze’d my case.” You rolled your eyes slightly as you thought about his outburst on the stand that day. “I do feel bad about the way it all went down though…”
“You wanna come?” Billy tapped your arm. “Just a little memorial thing, y’know, personal.”
“Yeah, I’d love to. Thanks.” You gave a tight, hopefully grateful smile. “I’ll be back with the snacks.”
“Thanks, Liv.” Curtis nodded and when he thought you were out of earshot, you heard him ask Billy. “Let me guess. You still haven’t told her how you feel.”
That was going to make things awkward.
You stayed for the meeting but didn’t say much. Some of the members welcomed you back and hung around to catch up afterwards. Others hardly noticed but one man, some old white man who’s name you never cared to learn, continued to disregard you and say that you didn’t deserve the seat. You offered to go outside and show him exactly what you thought he deserved, but Curtis was quick to shut that down. Even though the man was practically cowering away from you by that point. Other than the cranky old man, it was nice to be back in that sort of routine.
The next day, you swung by Melvin’s workshop and hung around while he finished the vest. Despite your hesitations, he had utilized a dark red base fabric that was seen between the edges of the plates. There were devil horns that sat level with your collarbones at the center of the chest, matching the horn tattoo near your spine that you got your first night at Quantico as an alleged initiation ritual. There was white stitching along the hem of the collar and a faint stitched outline of an hourglass. When you asked about it, he said that it was a tribute to where you came from but it was white to show that you were better. You scolded him for sounding like Matt, left some money on his bench, and chucked it in your trunk before you decided it was time to find Frank.
You hopped back in your car and followed the route you were recommended. As you drew closer to the location, the scenery didn’t surprise you at all. It was remote, well out of the way of any city traffic. Everything around it seemed abandoned, or damn near it. There wasn’t another soul for blocks, maybe even miles.
Perfect spot for a ghost.
You ditched your car a few alleys over and kept your pocket device in hand, though you took a second to tuck your badge under your seat. As you got closer, you were able to track cameras and their field of view. You had to circle the building a couple times before you caught sight of a blind spot that led right up to an old, rusted out chain link gate. Behind the gate sat an old maintenance door that was practically falling off its hinges. Beside that, a ladder to the roof, where you assumed another point of access would be. If not a door, then the vents.
You hurried across the gap and squeezed between the fence. When you shifted the door, it creaked loudly and the sound echoed through the empty alleys. You cursed slightly and moved it out of the way enough for you to sneak in sideways. It fell back into place with a loud thud and you winced slightly as it echoed in your hollow chest, dense enough to mimic the Midland explosion. In a swift motion, you tucked away your tech and pulled your gun, keeping it aimed downwards but your muscles remained tense. You crept the dark halls, hearing vague voices from a distance.
You kept going, following the voices and the small glow of light, until you were a few feet from where the guys were. Low and behold, Frank Castle. Part of you wanted to scream at him, to curse him out and make him feel bad for never reaching out. You wanted to shame him for ignoring you, for not being there when your entire life fell apart and Matt’s life was taken. But you willed yourself to stay still, to stay quiet.
Screaming about it wouldn’t change the past, so why bring it up at all?
The heat that lived inside of you now made a friend in the Midland echoes and they both danced through your veins. They teetered around the edges of that hole, leaning and pulling away as if to tempt the darkness to swallow them too. But nothing would get rid of those. Nothing would rid your body of their influence. Instead, you kicked those feelings into the gaping chasm in your soul and kept your eyes forward.
There was another man in the room, sitting in a desk chair. Even though his body was angled away from you, you could tell the man was completely naked. Your brows furrowed as to why that would be what Frank chose to do but you shrugged it off as some form of power play, a means of embarrassment and belittlement maybe. Either way, it didn’t change what you came for.
You tucked your gun away and snuck deeper into the room, listening in on their conversation while you thought about when to announce yourself.
“Hey.” He spoke desperately from the chair, dripping water - or maybe sweat - while Frank was unamused. “I’m the only friend you have, Frank.”
At that you laughed and the entire room fell silent.
“What the hell was that?” Frank muttered, turning towards the direction of your sound.
You cursed quietly and crept back into the dark hall. You looked around for somewhere to hide and saw that there was a series of open rafters on the ceiling. With a satisfied smirk, you hauled yourself up and tucked your feet just as Frank had come into the hall.
“I’m the only friend you have, Frank!” Micro tried again and you turned to face him, though you also tracked Frank’s steps. “Hey!”
“Where are you?” Frank said to himself as he stood beneath you.
You focused on the man in the chair and found he wasn’t necessarily afraid, not at that moment at least. He was concerned that Frank wouldn’t believe him, that Frank would kill him. You wondered what he really expected when he chose to instigate the Punisher but you shrugged it off to the male ego. He also felt desperate, that he needed his help more than anything. And while you knew deep down that you shouldn’t get involved, that you needed to keep some distance from vigilantism and fights so you could heal, you felt no necessity to stay away. Plus it was interesting.
“What are you looking for?” Micro shouted, drawing Frank back into the main room. “If someone was coming, Frank, who would it be?”
“You’d be surprised the shit she can get into.” Frank answered vaguely and you tilted your head in agreement.
“She? Who’s she?”
“You know all this shit about me but you don’t know her?” Frank chuckled. “C’mon man.”
“Like her her? Like Exodus her?”
“No, the Queen of England.”
“Holy shit..” Micro breathed and panicked in his chair. He jerked roughly to try and free himself from the restraints. “You’re joking, right? There’s- She can’t find you, right?”
“I’m thinking she already did.”
The sudden blaring of an alarm drew your attention. You looked over and saw a timer ticking down on the computer screen. You pulled your tech and tried to access it, to override it, but it was too complex for you to do within that time frame. You groaned inwardly while the boys went back and forth as to whether or not the threat that loomed after the timer was real or not. Frank finally turned the chair and Lieberman admitted - and showed - that it wasn’t explosives, but a video feed. If he didn’t enter the code, then that video would be broadcasted to various media outlets.
But that, you could block. You watched the man type in the code and utilize a retina scanner but then quickly got to work blocking any streaming opportunity from the cameras. They would still work and record, but the second someone tried to send that video out of the building, it would crash the whole system. You thought about sending something of your own, something just to toy with Lieberman and show him that he isn’t as smart or as sneaky as he thought, but their next argument caught your interest.
“How many times was Ahmad Zubair beaten?” Lieberman practically yelled.
“Shut your mouth.” Frank warned and the anger radiating off of him rivaled the heat in your own bones.
Could that have been what Madani was so interested in? What was her stake in Zubair’s life?
“How many times was this innocent man tortured? He was a good man! He was an honorable father. He was a cop.”
Frank’s hand wrapped around Lieberman’s throat and that’s when you decided to make yourself known.
“What are you gonna do, kill him?” You called with your familiar accent, stretching your legs to let your feet dangle over the edge. Your voice caught both of their attention and you offered a small smile and wave in return. “You owe me some answers.”
“How did you find me?” Lieberman asked in a panic, shifting in the chair.
“Your wife.” You shrugged. “Once I got inside, the cameras were easy enough to trace.”
“You were in my house?”
“Don’t kill him yet, Frank.” You tried, slipping out from your hiding place and moving to stand beside your friend. “He may prove useful.”
Frank turned to you without letting him go and his eyes darted back and forth between yours. The hard anger seemed to soften when he caught glimpse of whatever he was looking for and he slowly let him go. He backed away and you heard Lieberman muttering quiet thanks. You rolled your eyes slightly and patted Frank’s back before moving around the room.
“I knew you weren’t gonna kill me.” Lieberman announced, as if to provoke Frank some more.
“Does he ever stop talking?” You asked Frank.
“Not yet.” He muttered.
“I know people, alright? I’m an analyst. It’s my job.” Lieberman continued. “I knew you wouldn’t kill me because you’re a good man, Frank.”
“Knowing he’s a good man doesn’t mean you know him so I wouldn’t flaunt that as if it matters.” You commented simply. “And you definitely don’t know me.”
“No… No, I don’t.” He admitted. “But I will.”
“Ha! Daredevil didn’t even really know me so I wouldn’t get any hopes up…” You turned to Frank. “We should catch up.”
“Yeah, a lot goin’ on right now.” He gestured to the room around you. “She tell you?”
Without saying her name, you knew he meant Karen.
“Told me you were around.” You shrugged. “The rest was me.”
“Course it was.” He offered half a smile. “It’s good to see you, Princess.”
“Yeah, you too.” You returned the expression.
“How’s Red?”
You pressed your lips together and gave a small shake of your head, which only seemed to confirm whatever he saw in your face just a few moments before. You waved it off and ignored the pulse of heat at the back of your neck, tracing the outline of your tattoo. The memories of Midland began to flash, that deep opening threatening to swallow you alive, so you cleared your throat to try and clear the memories. You knew it would be obvious that something was wrong and it was directly related to Matt and Daredevil, but you’d never speak a word of it in front of David Lieberman.
“What does Homeland know about Zubair? Where did it happen?” You turned away from Frank, feeling that pound of emotions in your chest. It was bubbling from that hole, sending vibrations through your bones as it begged for release.
“Kandahar.” Frank answered instead. “Why?”
“Does Homeland have the video?” You asked.
“Yeah..”
“Son of a bitch…” You sighed and ran a hand down your face. “Explains that.”
“Explains what? What does Homeland have to do with anything?” Lieberman asked quickly.
“Frank.” You said instead. “Things are a lot bigger than you think. A lot of connecting pieces are falling in my lap… Let me help.”
Frank faced you for a moment and scanned your face again. He was looking for something, maybe the same thing and maybe something else. You didn’t care to ask. You let him look, let him find whatever it was he would find. He sighed and gestured you over. You moved across the room and he took your arm to pull you out of Lieberman’s eyesight.
“I see it in your eyes, Princess.. You’re not alright, are you?” Frank asked quietly.
“He’s dead.” You answered simply, but your voice felt drowned out by the explosions in your heart. “And I did nothing.”
He frowned slightly and pulled you in for a tight embrace.
That seemed to dull the heat as your eyes closed tightly and the tears threatened. You wrapped your arms around him and balled his shirt into your fists. You buried your face against him and he offered quiet, gentle consolations. All the running, the burying your pain and pretending it didn’t exist, all of it swelled into a pressure in your head that escaped as hot tears.
“I don’t wanna do this here.” You pulled away and wiped your sleeve across your eyes. “Not now.”
“Livia..” He tried but you backed away slowly and he didn’t stop you.
“I don’t wanna talk about it right now.” You shook your head. “I’ve gotta go, alright? I’ll come back tomorrow.”
You had Billy pick you up from your apartment and you two drove to the cemetery together. You followed his lead to the headstone and you hadn’t expected to feel your heart sink. Knowing Frank was alive and in New York with a fake tombstone while Matt was dead under New York and no one was ever going to know, there was no tangible way to remember him other than whatever was left in your apartment, it felt like it could kick your heart down that bottomless pit.
The thought made you shiver and you felt Billy put an arm around your shoulders to pull you into his side.
“Happy birthday, Frank.” Curtis toasted.
“You alright?” He leaned down to ask and you simply nodded, your voice having been swallowed up. “It’s a good thing, getting a stone.”
“Yeah, figured he deserved a marker of some kind, right?” Curtis agreed, passing you the bottle of liquor.
You nodded in thanks and took a drink before passing it on to Billy.
“Frank would’ve hated this, this maudlin shit.” Billy said with a sad laugh. You stepped out from under his arm and took his hand instead, hooking the other one around his arm and leaning on his shoulder. “I wish he’d…”
Curtis leaned around you to see his friend’s face better but you couldn't take your eyes off the stone.
“Why didn’t he… Why didn’t he come to us, man?” Billy continued and you felt genuine regret through your conjoined hands. You wondered, if only for a moment, what would’ve been different had Billy been involved. Maybe it doesn’t go to trial, or maybe Billy’s the character witness rather than Schoonover. Maybe Nelson and Murdock doesn’t fall apart. Maybe you and Matt end up too busy with cases to investigate Midland. Or maybe you meet Billy at a time that you could’ve allowed yourself to feel something. You had to swallow the thoughts down, feeding them to the nagging emptiness.
“He didn’t have to be alone. We could’ve helped him.” Billy continued.
“He didn’t want any help.” Curtis shrugged. “He wanted to kill every bastard who had a hand in it.”
“I miss him..”
“Me too.” You finally spoke.
“I could see it, before everything. He was finding it harder and harder to come back.”
“He said Kandahar was like nothing else.” Curtis agreed and your ears perked up, picking up your head from Billy’s shoulder. “He said the lines were blurred.”
“When did he say that?” Billy asked and his body language almost felt defensive.
Maybe he was there too.
“When he was over there.” Curtis answered after a short pause and you could tell he was lying. Frank had to have reached out to Curtis after the Kandahar incident, after Ahmad Zubair. “He called me, y’know, to shoot the shit. Said I was lucky not to be there.”
“Yeah..” Billy breathed but it was clear that he didn’t fully believe Curtis. At the same time, he had nothing to accuse his friend of. “You were.”
You all hung out at the gravesite a little while longer, sharing stories and memories of Frank. You told them about in the interrogation room, when you needed a witness and he alluded to Billy. The comment of “you’d like him too much” made Billy laugh. You even admitted that in the short time you knew him, Frank was one of your few real friends and you felt some guilt over his death. Both men assured you it wasn’t on you but that didn’t change anything in your own head.
On the ride back to your place, you decided to try and pry some information out of Billy.
“Can I ask you something?” You asked quietly, making it seem as if you were hesitant to ask.
“Yeah, what’s going on?” He answered simply. “Everything okay?”
“Yeah.. Yeah, I just wanted to ask about Kandahar.”
“Why you bringin’ it up?” He asked tightly, offering a sideways glance that practically screamed suspicion.
You gave half of a shrug and dropped your eyes to your lap, hoping to come off as nervous and uncertain.
“Hey.” He said gently, putting a hand on your leg as a silent apology.
“It’s just.. If Frank didn’t like it and you obviously didn’t like it all that much either, I feel like it was something bad.” You explained carefully, watching the inflections in your voice as you spoke. “Is there anything you can tell me about it?”
“We had orders.” Billy said simply, though his voice was gentle. Definitely one of the more gentler tones you’d heard from him, but he always spoke to you with a certain tenderness. Sometimes it made your stomach lurch, other times it felt safe. This time is was somewhere dangerously inbetween. “You know how that goes.. You don’t always like them or even agree with them but you can’t say shit in the moment.”
“Yeah, I get that.” You nodded, because you did. You knew that all too well. “It was that bad, huh?”
“I’d tell you more if I could but…”
“Classified.” You finished with a sigh. “I figured as much. I appreciate you telling me something though.”
“I think the later parts were the worst for Frankie.” Billy explained carefully, phrasing it as if it was his own assumption but you could tell there was something more knowing about it. “Some intel that didn’t exactly pan out, got us caught in an ambush, and it changed him. Changed the way he saw our unit. He ever mention that to you?”
You shook your head but you had to assume he was talking about the Zubair incident, maybe even the story his CO told on the stand. “All he told me was that it was usually off the books, or that was his impression at least, with all the secrets… But during the trial, Schoonover talked about a mission near the Hindu Kush. Frank didn’t agree, said it was an ambush, but he went anyway because orders are orders… Frank did what he did best and got every man out. I never got a chance to ask him about it but he wasn’t exactly all that talkative anyway.”
Billy gave a small chuckle and it broke up some of the tension in the car.
“He never was much of a chatter-box.” Billy smiled slightly.
“I guess that was your job, huh?” You teased and his smile grew a little wider. “Thank you, for being honest with me.”
“I’m not gonna lie to you if I don’t have to.”
“I appreciate that.” You nodded as he pulled up to your building. “It’d be nice if you could tell me a little more but I get it.”
“You are relentless.” He laughed, turning to face you with a soft expression. “With all your own secrets.”
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Your brows furrowed slightly and you felt the heat under your skin dampening and your stomach started to find its way into a small knot.
You hadn’t realized it until then but you had missed having someone look at you with admiration like that. Of course Matt had his own way of seeing you and he never hesitated to express just how much he loved you or wanted you, but something about seeing it in someone’s eyes felt different.
Maybe you were healing after all… The thought made you want to gag.
“Stop looking at me like that!” You laughed slightly and smacked his chest, which earned you nothing but a smile.
“How about this?” He offered, patting your leg before keeping his hand there. “There’s someone I may be able to introduce you to and if he likes you…”
“He’ll tell me anything I wanna know?” Your brows raised.
“I’ll tell you anything you wanna know.” He chuckled. “Deal?”
“Hmm… I’ll break you yet, Mr. Russo.”
“Looking forward to it.” He smirked before you got out.
You rolled your eyes in amusement as you entered the building. You headed up to your place, checking your phone to see a text from Dex saying Homeland was going to keep the investigation of Wolf’s murder. It didn’t surprise you that they’d want to be the ones to figure out what happened to their own man, but it did leave interesting possibilities. Was the ranking agent only doing it to keep something quiet or were they a good agent? Were they doing it out of loyalty to their bureau and to Wolf or were they doing it for their own interest? But what would knowing Wolf’s attacker serve anyone? It was a lot to consider, but unfortunately not enough to keep your usual nightmare at bay.
The next day, you wore the vest under your shirt - one of Matt’s old Columbia shirts because it fit better over the protection than your own. You had a gun at your back and a knife at the side of your waistband. You thought about just taking the retractable that Billy gave you a while ago but it was shoved in the closet, wrapped up in your suit and still coated in blood. You didn’t think you could take seeing it, expecting a red-tinted mania to accompany it. So instead, with your weapons of choice, you hopped in your car and headed back over to Lieberman’s hidey-hole.
The tension in the room made your skin tingle and sent a shiver down your spine. You rubbed your hands on your arms to disperse the feeling and walked in to find the boys in one of the side rooms, Lieberman untied and dressed and Frank tense.
“I don’t do partners.” Frank said angrily and you made a face to yourself.
You sat beside him and propped an elbow on his shoulder, which earned you a small scowl.
“How do you keep sneaking in here?” Lieberman asked in annoyance.
“There’s a blind spot in your cameras.” You explained simply. “Leads right up to an old service entrance that isn’t locked and you two are too busy bickering to hear me coming.”
“Blind spot.” He scoffed. “Really?”
“Mhmm.” You nodded. “Anyway, did you turn off your little cameras?” You gestured vaguely to the ceiling.
“Yeah.. How did you know about them?”
You shrugged a shoulder and turned back to Frank.
“If you don’t do partners, what am I?” You asked with raised brows and he squinted his eyes as he looked at your face. “What?”
“You’re different today..” He said simply as he tried to piece together what changed.
“Okay?”
“What changed?”
“Nothing…”
“No, something’s different.”
“Nothing important.” You urged.
“Livia.”
“Leave it alone, Frank.” You warned. “Now’s not the time.”
“Can we just-” Lieberman cut in and you looked at him with a slight glare. “Can we get back to what’s important?”
“And what exactly is that?” You humored him.
“We’ve all done things we would like to take back, but we can’t. We’re not the bad guys here, they are. Right?”
“Do we know who they are to begin with? Is that why Carson Wolf from Homeland is dead? Someone’s looking into Frank’s unit and I’m guessing it’s about the Kandahar incident. Wolf was part of the coverup for your death-” You pointed to Lieberman, who conceded with a small nod. “-and had to know about their off the books work. If you’re making Homeland your enemy, they’re not gonna back down. Not from a trio of ghost stories.”
“He means the guy who gave us the targets… Called him Agent Orange.” Frank explained carefully.
“That guy still around?” Your brows furrowed and Frank offered a shrug. Could that have been the person whose approval Billy needed before he told you anything?
“That night that my CO told you about during the case, that was the last one I ran with them. I should’ve killed Orange that night but.. Some of my guys pulled me off, said it was to protect me.”
“Who?”
Frank shook his head as if to say it wasn’t important.
“You could’ve ended it all that night.” Lieberman added. “You didn’t, and then they killed your family. You have to live with that.”
“Hey.” You said sharply and pointed a stern finger. “Watch your mouth or the next thing out of it is your tongue.”
He put his hands up in surrender. “This war you’re waging, Frank, it’s the U.S. government. It’s the CIA, and you just got rolled over by one spook zip-tied to an office chair.”
“Yeah, that’s a little embarrassing.” You muttered and Frank elbowed you in the ribs.
“I thought I needed you but you need me just as much.” Lieberman continued. “And now I’m starting to think we’ll need her too.”
“I think I have some connections that could be useful here.” You admitted. “I’ve made a few new friends since I last saw you, Frank. I already got in here twice without you guys knowing. You know I can hold my own.”
“Yeah, I get it.” Frank waved you off. “This isn’t gonna be like anything you’ve done before.”
“You don’t know any of the missions I ran before.” You shook your head. “You give me a team of three or four of my best, and we can take down an entire country’s government in twenty-four hours. I’m not afraid of this and I’m not afraid to die.”
“You’re only saying that cause Red di-”
“And you’re only doing this because your family.” You cut in firmly. “How is it different?”
“Just let her stay.” Lieberman offered. “She’s gonna do it anyway.”
“What about your friends?” Frank asked instead.
“Haven’t talked to them much since it happened...” You shrugged. “New job hasn’t put me on anything yet so it’s not like I’ll miss anything from there. Not leaving any kids or any family behind so..”
“Not even a boyfriend?” He tried, clearly trying to find anything to get you to reconsider.
You paused as you thought and Billy was the first thing that came to mind. But at the same time, Frank seemed to have already forgotten how stubborn you could be.
“No… Look, I didn’t leave you on that first rooftop. I didn’t leave you on that boat. I’m not leaving now.”
“I’m gonna regret this.” Frank groaned before nodding.
“Great.” Lieberman clapped his hands and stood. “I’ve spent months and months hacking every agency and their server.”
“How have they not caught you by now?” Your brows furrowed as you stood and followed him out of the room.
“I’m NSA. It’s my job.”
“Well I hacked into your stuff and you didn’t notice so..” You shrugged.
“You did what?”
“Nothing, continue.”
“Well… Okay, look, anything they can throw at us, right? Phone companies, police departments, it doesn’t matter, because I can throw it right back at them! I’ve been getting ready for you, Frank.”
“What does that mean?” Frank asked, though his worry for you was more pressing in his mind. You took a second to force it to the back of his mind and he shot you a glare as his focus suddenly changed, to which you shrugged innocently.
“What does that mean?” Lieberman repeated as if offended Frank would ask that, but it was a fair question. He hadn’t exactly said what he wanted Frank and got you for. “It means that every missile needs a guidance system. Without me, you’re just a blunt object.”
“You think pretty highly of yourself, don’t you?” You commented and Lieberman rolled his eyes.
“Yeah, go ahead. Blow me off. Go ahead!” He argued and the clatter drew your attention back.
You saw Frank doubled over, supporting himself against a nearby cabinet, so you hurried over to help him. His body language was tense like he wanted to push you off, but the concern in your eyes made him decide against it. Despite your cruelty, your growing neutrality, and overall lack of empathy in your day-to-day life, Frank Castle had a way of bringing back a more human nature. You scanned his body for injuries but saw nothing so it had to have been something systemic. He nodded slightly to say that he was okay but you didn’t leave his side.
Lieberman brought the desk chair over that he was tied to last you saw him but Frank waved him off. Lieberman tried insisting but you kicked the chair away, unintentionally hitting it against his knees but not apologizing for it. He put his hands up in surrender and gestured for you two to follow him back towards the computers. You sighed to yourself and began to lead Frank out.
“All that heroin was just financing for something else.” He explained when you two got closer. “Your operation Cerberus doesn’t exist. There’s no official record. There’s no congressional approval.”
“Yeah, it was off the books.” You answered simply. “We knew that already. Off the books usually equates to illegal so..”
“They turned you into a hitman, Frank.”
“There are worse things to be.” You shrugged.
“Look, I don’t care if we all trust each other. I don’t care to be blood brothers or any of that kids in a treehouse type shit. But right now, we want the same thing… So work with me.”
“One condition.” Frank said lowly, burning with his own anger. His own betrayal. It sparked something sadistically familiar in your chest.
“Yeah, anything.”
“They die.. Every single one of ‘em.” He turned up to you. “No trials.”
“I’m not the one that insists on the justice system.” You answered plainly.
“No bullshit.. They die.”
“Fine by me.” You shrugged.
After a moment’s thought, Lieberman answered.
“Yeah, I can live with that.”
List of rangers who would sleep with a monster+which creature you’d see them being with(vampire werewolf etc etc you get the gist)
Idk I should’ve asked this during October☠️☠️☠️
....I'm going to be vague here, because from a certain standpoint this could be seen as moot, but I am willing to indulge you.
MMPR:
Kim: Probably fucked Zedd. Maybe made out with Scorpina. Could have managed a dual date with Rita, but it would just get too complicated.
Tommy: I can't prove it, but just know he and Goldar fucked while Tommy was under mind control. And also Anton half counts from a certain perspective. Also it's Tommy, so just...yeah.
Jason: Would be DTF Goldar and maaaaaaaybe Zedd, but just to prove a point. Possibly fucked Trey of Triforia, but was unimpressed.
Zack: Monsterfucker, don't question.
Bulk & Skull: Remember when Rito and Goldar lived with them? Don't deny it, we all know.
Zeo/Turbo:
Adam: Scorpina WANTS to fuck him, so...maybe.
Carlos: Was a vampire for a short time. Would have fucked all of his friends if it had lasted long enough. Sort of counts.
In Space:
They would ALL have sex with their Psycho counterpart, and all of the Psychos have monster forms. This is not a question, just a fact. But Ashley is the worst.
Lost Galaxy:
Every single one of them would have sex with Trakeena except Kai and Mike.
Lightspeed Rescue:
Chad: He fucked that mermaid, let's be real.
Ryan: I'm not sure if wanting had anything to do with it, but that is entirely how he lost his virginity.
Carter: People need to keep him out of trouble so much, odds are if left to his own devices, he absolutely would.
Kelsey: She is small and a freak. Enough said.
Time Force:
There is a 50/50 probability all of the future Rangers had sex with a mutant/alien/other at some point. Nadira probably regrets her time with Lucas because of this, though I can't say why.
Wild Force:
Merrick: Lived happily ever after by fucking off into the sunset with his furry boyfriend.
Cole: Has no concept about differentiating between species as long as consent is involved.
Max: *hand waves*
Ninja Storm:
All of them. This is not even a question. Especially with the Primaries.
Dino Thunder:
Conner. Just...Conner.
SPD:
They're all Meta, they live with aliens and monsters. Really it's more like a question of who wouldn't--Sky.
Mystic Force:
Again, they apparently have alternative forms, so it's heavily implied they're all down for anything. Even Maddie. But Vida had that vampire episode, so she gets it in multiples of two.
Operation Overdrive:
Ronny: I feel as if she would have gotten with Thor if given a second chance.
Rose: Having a ghost possess her body did things for her.
Will: This is really just in keeping with his liking a challenge (he's actually pretty tame, but if someone dared him, he would stick his dick in it).
Jungle Fury:
They. Are. Furries. Yes, even Fran.
RPM:
......................................................Gem and Gemma? Maybe? If someone could explain it to them? But given the limited options in this timeline, I think they'd be right to be choosy.
Samurai:
Mia: I feel like she would have asked Daya out on a date if this wasn't boring and the writers had a spine. And didn't hate women.
Megaforce:
Troy fucks the robot, next question.
Dino Charge:
Koda: Doesn't understand and doesn't discriminate, so....
Sir Ivan: I also think he just doesn't care.
Kendall Morgan: If they talk about science well enough, she doesn't see an issue.
Heckyl: Is an alien, so...?
Ninja Steel:
Brody: I don't think it's a matter of if, so much as didn't have a choice...because of the human trafficking thing. Then it was whatever by the time he got free.
Levi: Again...human trafficking. Does not care as long as consent is involved.
Sarah: Is curious enough that she'd be totally down for it as long as she could take notes.
Beast Morphers:
Devon: Is an angel and a precious bean, and would have sex with so many monsters.
+Betty: Not technically a Ranger, but Grid Battleforce is her workspace and...she would. She is a small weirdo. It is law.
Dino/Cosmic Fury:
They're all either aliens or queer. This isn't even a question. Yes, of course. Especially Amelia.
Boom! Comics:
Probably the only ones who aren't into monster fucking are Omega Trini and Omega Zack. True, Coinless Trini is definitely fucking Scorpina, and Coinless Zack tried a little bit of anything that came his way, but...that was different.
I'm a little on the fence about Billy though... True, he and Goldar got along in the Dark Dimension before Billy and Tommy got sucked over into the Coinless universe but, I'm...not convinced.
Alr, gotta talk about my Sealand hc now bc there's actually a lot.
So anyway, back in 1967 William and François were on a break in their relationship, and Will was being dumb went on one of his infamous benders. And somewhere during it Made A Choice.
2 months later he and François reconcile and get back together. A month and a half after that William gets tracked down by a stranger. This woman shows up provides just enough details to jog some memories and then promptly tells him "I'm pregnant, I'm 97% sure it's yours". shit. They exchange details, she leaves. He calls Fran.
A week later he's explaining to François what happened and is casually internally freaking out bc "I basically cheated on him oh my gosh"; it is something they'll have to talk about but also François reminds him technically they weren't together at the time so grace will have to be given. "It's okay, I forgive you" it's pretty harmless to their relationship in the grand scheme, they've survived worse.
Anyway, she shows back up (I'm gonna call her Sarah for now bc I don't have anything else); and tells William "I don't really want to be a mom right now," and the main conversation is adoption which Will is 100% for, like whatever she wants he's down. Until François points out "and if the baby in a personification?". Cue Will calling her to be like "Heyyyyy maybe don't look too deep into the adoption thing, because I'm considering taking the baby? But I don't know yet, I have to think about it"
Anywho, in between finding out and the baby actually being born François gets really excited. Like has to be reminded on the daily the baby will probably be human; "when our child is-" "My child François!"
William gets a call in the middle of the night, and the only thing he gets from François as he's leaving is "You have to call me as soon as the baby is here and tell me if we have a kid or not!" 8-14 hours later Will gets to a phone and calls back to the house and he doesn't even say hello, just "We have a son"
Anywho, Peter Maël Kirkland-Bonnefoy (François spent many hours arguing for that middle name) was born September 2nd, 1967 and his dads got him home September 4th, his mom signed over custody and basically disappeared. And Peter was their baby, that they got to raise generally undisturbed, and Pete's got a big old family who just love him to bits and that's it. That's all that matters.
Not that anyone asked, but here my favorites of 2023 anyway:
Favorite Book – The Guest by Emma Cline. The central character is a black humor mix of Moll Flanders and Tom Ripley. Has a lot to say about our contemporary morass, too. Two of my most anticipated writers hit it out of the park this year as well with a couple of chillers, Elizabeth Hand with A Haunting on the Hill and Megan Abbot with Beware the Woman.
Favorite True Crime Book: I’m going with a reprint, House of Pain by Helen Garner. Usually I’m more of a just the facts type guy when it comes to the genre, but Garner’s subjective approach proves immensely moving. With a forward puzzlingly more about Janet Malcolm than Garner by industry striver Sarah Weinman, who has given me the high hat on several occasions.
Best Movie: This isn’t even an opinion, just fact – Killers of the Flower Moon is, as Fran Lebowitz said in her appearance (oration?) at the Michigan Theater, a masterpiece of world cinema. And shame on you if you didn’t see it on the big screen, as Marty intended. After the debacle of The Irishman, it was great to see him come up with this one.
Favorite Horror Movie: This is definitely the genre with the most pop these days, commercially and creatively, and saw several excellent ones, including sequels (Scream VI kept up the superior standard, but who guessed Evil Dead Rise would be so much scary fun). However I’m going with a true original, Talk to Me, which was, well, really creepy and nailed a disturbing ending.
Like it or not, there you have it – and if you’ve read this far, happy new year.
Space Ghost Week
Space Ghost Coast to Coast #60: “Lawsuit” | August 21, 1998 | S05E03
Yet another unique opening; this is meant to look like a more staid network program; I get an 80s primetime soap vibe, such as Dynasty or Falcon Crest. Honestly, I’m not sure what the actual reference is, if anything. Snard describes the theme as Mork-and-Mindy-esque. The final credit says it was created by the Arlington Sisters.
This is an Evan Dorkin Sarah Dyer episode, and it’s a pretty good one. I had my suspicions when the characters referenced “Harvey”, referring to Birdman. Man, those two really should’ve gotten a piece of that Harvey Birdman.
This one is rather scripted; a huge chunk of the episode is comprised of animated characters talking to one another. Dr. Nightmare, a villain from the 1960s iteration of Space Ghost, shows up in Tad’s monitor on behalf of Jan, Jace, and Blip; Space Ghost’s old teen and primate sidekicks. He’s now Dr. Nightmare, Attorney at Law (Jesus, just cut those two a check already). Another way you can tell it’s a Dorkin/Dyer script: they actually care about the 1960s lore of Space Ghost and you can tell they get a lot of joy out of including old characters in their episodes.
Jan and Jace are suing for back wages, trauma, and accuse Space Ghost of preventing them from enrolling in school. Eventually Greta Van Sustren shows up to talk to Space Ghost about representing him in the upcoming case. She’s wearing a cool jacket.
In addition to the references to the 60s show, we also get several references to past episodes; Cameron Diaz, Flip Orley, Sean Medlock, The Hoover Dam, and Paris France are all in talks to sue Space Ghost. Flip Orley was the magician that was on the Late Night episode, and Sean Medlock, hilariously, was the aggrieved Space Ghost fan who got on the show via a haiku contest and was disgruntled because he was lead to believe that he’d be the focus of the entire episode. He now has a substack under the pseudonym Jim Treacher, and is reportedly a massive wad.
Among the funny moments are: Brak, the little fella who shows up “from time to time” as Dennis Miller put it, shows up briefly to pointlessly reference I’m not Rappaport. The beginning of the episode actually has a lot of the show’s funniest jokes: Space Ghost’s spit-take, his invoking the name “Jack Lord”, and accusing Dr. Nightmare of stealing fizzy lifting drinks all tickle me. I need to confess that I stole the fizzy lifting drinks line in high school for an unfunny sketch I wrote. I also love the bit where Space Ghost meets Greta Van Sustren and then blinks, using Zorak’s blinking sound-effect. Zorak gets pissed.
Shout out to Matt Harrigan and Isabel Gonzalez who play Jace and Jan respectively. Isabel is the insanely beautiful woman who portrayed Fran Drescher in “Woody Allen’s Fall Project”. Dave Willis also has a brief turn as Jace’s post-puberty voice.
MAIL BAG
from peopletellmeilooklikehansolo:
Space Ghost's dialogue at the start of Terminal is lifted from Terms of Endearment. When I saw the movie a few years ago I was smiling inappropriately as soon as I recognized the words coming out of Debra Winger's mouth. (she's speaking to her sons while dying "in hospital")
THANK YOU! I can’t believe I missed that. I’ve seen the movie and somehow didn’t make the connection! It was a somewhat recent watch, even, and I easily could have connected the two. My main takeaway from that movie was the cool photo of Jack Nicholson in the astronaut outfit, which is shockingly hard to google. Where is that prop?
What some of The BAU Members Would Smell Like
scent Headcanons
CHARACTERS: DEREK, PENELOPE, JORDAN, TARA, MATT, REID
SFW, canon typical content — no reader-insert
Pic Sources: criminal minds
• These headcanons are for when they aren’t in the field because being identifiable by scent when you’re trying to sneak up on an unsub is a bad thing and none of these guys (except for maybe JJ and Jordan when they first transition from liaison to field agent) would sabotage themselves like that.
DEREK MORGAN
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/92af7def29f6819e117dff1242e65f09/0092cee35d4fa49f-67/s540x810/4102ffc7bdb0f8b7ec0caf6a16c30d9e2753682a.jpg)
Smells like expensive ass cologne, okay? He invested in smelling right, partly because of his father impressing upon him the importance of smelling “respectable” and nice and partly because he wanted to feel himself and attract more women.
The cologne isn’t too strong (won’t burn anyone’s noses or anything because it’s not basically just scented alcohol) but it is aromatic and it does linger whenever he leaves a room.
Everybody always finds themselves subconsciously breathing it in a little extra when he’s around, and Penelope comments on his “good smelling cologne” every time she smells him wearing it and will just straight up smell him while Derek laughs and plays along by opening himself up to be smelled; Emily also definitely teases him about her having been able to smell him coming before Penelope cuts in like: “and every second was glorious.”
I think his scent should have some sweetness to it, like it’s masculine or whatever but it also cuts his edge which is part of the reason he likes it so much. Like sweet almond or something, idk.
Derek’s natural scent is also grand and Savannah is in love with it about as much as she is with him in general. When he was in the hospital she would press kisses to his forehead or hairline and then just take a moment to breathe him in.
Fran used to cry from how much his and his sisters’ naturally smelled like their father.
I think it’s be cute, too, if the cologne he uses as an adult is as similar a scent as he can find to the cologne his father would wear. Like, Derek latched onto the scent of his father after his death because he missed him so much and eventually asked his mother if he could wear his father’s cologne and Fran fully let him after saving some of it for herself. The cologne won’t last forever but for the immediate future they could both at least keep him close like that.
Some of the most unprompted hugs he’d get from his sisters would be when he was wearing their father’s cologne. Desiree would tease him about thinking he was big and bad with Pop’s cologne on right after the hug, and shove at him some before they’d devolve into a match. The first time she smelled her father’s cologne on him she got so mad he had the audacity that the two fought though, only reconciling after Fran put them on “house arrest” and forced them to talk it out.
Sarah would just smile at him and remind him not to let his head get too big while he was out running the streets but (even if the first couple of times she caught scent of him she cried) she starts appreciating the association with Hank’s usual scent with her little brother even when he was pissing her off.
PENELOPE GARCIA
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/2f91a5f70417b40930ebd48158f9ea67/0092cee35d4fa49f-a9/s540x810/cd6bdd543e0864cdf3550c491ee0b06f94334d8b.jpg)
Smells sweet but what kind of sweet depends on her exact mood and/or the color of her outfit.
During her angsty teen/Black Queen days she smelt more like rose incense that gave her a smokey, muskier and feminine smell.
It takes her a while after she’s caught by the FBI and after her breakup with Shane for Penelope to be okay with wearing scents with rose in them at all because of the lingering negativity from her relationship and her depression at the time that she associated with the flower (and the occasional scent of black cherry too).
Even after joining the BAU she still occasionally smells like sage after particularly gory or sadistic cases that make her feel icky because she cleanses her space.
Reid figures out that’s why on his own eventually, Penelope tells JJ about it while working on a case by mentioning that she’s basically gonna have to fumigate her office after watching the videos she’d uncovered, and when she first joined the team Emily had tentatively placed an small ornate pot of culinary sage in front of Penelope as a bit of a peace offering after so frequently smelling it on her. She hadn’t realized exactly why the analyst used sage but Penelope couldn’t find it in herself to correct her and she used that sage in her teas for months afterwards.
The first time she ever burned sage after her worst case with the team at the time Derek had walked into her “bat-cave” to tell her goodbye, cracked a joke about her burning down the place before she explained her reasoning to him, and then he’d just stayed back to keep her company and walked her to her car when she was finished and packed up. From then on any time he smells sage on her or lingering in her space he makes sure to check up on her extra vigorously and softly urge her into venting and letting go before she combusts. He doesn’t always say the best thing but she appreciates him seeking her out anyway.
Penelope (similar to her glasses) doesn’t just have one singular scent. She has a good couple of perfumes that she rotates around and bases whether she’ll wear one based on the color of her outfit that she’s wearing or based on what type of vibe she’s going for with an outfit. Usually floral, bakery, fruity (especially raspberry) type scents that compliment her brightness without being too overwhelming.
Derek teases her about it once she tells him how she picks out her scents. He makes some crack about missing the scent she wore the day before and she’s like “too bad” then explains her process to him.
Luke probably picks up on how she chooses scents and pats himself heavy on the back when she reluctantly confirms his suspicions.
If Penelope wakes up late and has to rush into work, forgetting her perfume, she usually goes to Tara for some because everyone knows how potent but neutral her scent is and Penelope needs something that can go with any outfit or vibe she’s going for.
Her scent picking process is determined by stuff like: summer, winter, spring, or fall scent notes; what color is she wearing; dress or skirt? Shit like that. She’s of a particular type, yk?
She is a creature of habit when it comes to her scent routine but loves it when her romantic partners or friends ask her whether it’s a pink day or a blue day (for example) and then go pick out the corresponding perfumes for her by color.
Penelope also loves it whenever her partner smells like her. She was not expecting to get as giddy as she did when she’d catch a whiff of her perfume on someone else because it showed that they really did hang out with her often.
JORDAN TODD
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/91a755c77dab0ae8c13784328d9a6c37/0092cee35d4fa49f-c1/s540x810/6c49795a68457ca8719290706eb3cdd9d52f37e5.jpg)
*will forever stay salty about the fact that Jordan never got a shot in the title sequence even if I know why, but anyway*
She has a very mild but spicy scent. It’s like ginger and you get a waft of it every time she brushes her hair over her shoulder even though you likely hadn’t noticed the scent before then.
It’s understated because she sprayed it for herself mostly, but once other people smell it it’s definitely a scent that they start searching out even though they’re probably unaware of the origin and frustratingly can’t seem to catch a whiff of it again.
I’d imagine that people could smell the warmth and subtle product from her heat protection spray in Jordan’s hair from her blowing out her natural hair if they were close enough to her.
I think otherwise she’d use largelly scentless lotion, creams, soaps and gels just because it’s more convenient for her.
I like the scent of ginger for her because it’s sharp and peppery but also a very warm and sweet scent as well. I think that fits because of how hard it is for her to get comfortable with the team, how she rankles against feeling incompetent, but how ultimately it’s her caring so much that causes her to but heads and why she left the BAU because she couldn’t take all the constant negativity and stress.
TARA LEWIS
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/ab3a4d4a07bb61849cd77670d52f3edf/0092cee35d4fa49f-6f/s540x810/a6f2459a19a50ad1498f8a3c97129d5923e5e079.jpg)
Doesn’t spray on perfume; absolutely uses perfume oil.
She would’ve picked up on using oils when she was a teen while moving countries and going from base to base after being stationed in a middle eastern country.
Typically smells like vanilla; not overly sweet but still notable if someone is close to her, and shea butter.
Whenever she moves her arms, brushes past someone, or stands up, her scent reignites(?) and you’re reminded of just how nice she smells.
Can usually smell the oils she uses to moisturize her natural hair, add shine to her wigs or sew-ins, and keep her scalp healthy when she has in braids as well. Coconut or argan oils most often.
Emily and Rossi probably notice when she’s wearing a scent the most; Dave commenting on the subtle scent of vanilla indicating that Tara beat him to work, and Emily would tease her about how she must’ve been feeling extra good that day.
When they were split up Rebecca would catch the faintest whiff of vanilla and brace herself, whether she’d end up running into Tara or not. When they’re good, however, Rebecca has a habit of lifting Tara's wrist up to smell then pressing a kiss just below where the oil was applied before intertwining her fingers with Tara’s. It’s a quick gesture but it makes Rebecca feel horribly giddy and Tara always looks down at her like she brought oxygen to earth so it works out.
MATTHEW “MATT” SIMMONS
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f707beedabb714f515517a495fb9c0a8/0092cee35d4fa49f-c6/s540x810/b80003920e78cf9bf5efee03eb29e7ce66cf4a96.jpg)
Before he met Kristy he wore a stronger cologne, nothing too expensive but certainly masculine. He also saturated himself in it like crazy.
After meeting Kristy he backs off on the over spritzing and switches to a less “harsh” cologne that she thinks suits him best after she takes him out shopping for “his scent”.
She definitely had to pester him and push him towards leaving that comfort zone for a good bit before he agreed to take time out to change it.
His cologne has a citrusy undertone (like blood oranges) and then a fresh scent like Aloe Vera that carries the citrus without making the scent overwhelming. It’s light and Simmons actually likes not feeling so heavy when he’s wearing cologne. Plus Kirsty loves it and it’s not too harsh on tiny kid noses so it’s a win win all around.
Quite frankly when he doesn’t smell like oranges at home his kids are very confused.
Luke probably comments distractedly about him smelling a bit like a creamsicle the first time they hang out casually.
SPENCER REID
![Tumblr media](https://64.media.tumblr.com/f4c3d0d44c110a414d743d20f8d44a4f/0092cee35d4fa49f-41/s540x810/4eff4bc14015087f6c499537ef7e87f490801e55.jpg)
Smells like paper (typically book paper, but sometimes he also smells just like warm printer paper).
I think he’d wear a scent mostly when he’s either going to see his mother or has been thinking about her because she would’ve impressed upon him the importance of being a nice smelling young man. She’d emphasize lighter, flowery scents for Reid however, not at all caring about setting him up to lean into societal expectations for how men “should” smell. Diana just wanted to teach him how different flowers and their scents would positively impact his impressions on others and help him feel better in scent therapy terms.
Diana would shove sprigs of lavender in his breast pockets in order to help ground and calm him and as an adult Reid would make his own lavender oil to use whenever he felt he needed that grounding or wanted to feel more connected to his mother.
Otherwise (even when going out) he typically won’t wear a scent at all, and he’s fairly impartial towards cologne.
Mostly Reid just smells like the unscented soaps and aftershave and shampoo that he uses. A clinical scent that’s “clean” in a different way to how Jordan or even Tara smells. Sterile even, but incredibly subtle.
I could see him smelling kind of cinnamon-esq too. Warm and a bit spicy just feels right for Spencer. Maybe he’d start leaning towards that scent later on in the show’s seasons.
NOTES: Hope you enjoyed! And that none of my headcanons were too out of left field!
btw: if you’d like to leave a comment I’d very much appreciate it!
If It Weren’t For You (Sydney Lohmann)
Summary: At the semi-final against Bayern Munchen, Y/n gets her head injured quite badly and Sydney starts panicking.
Warnings: injury mentions, fluff, angst.
Later today I’m playing in the freaking Champions League Semi-final, but sadly it's against my former team, Bayern Munich.
and my girlfriend, Sydney Lohmann…
I know how much her and her team wants this, but we want this too, so it's going to be a very tough game.
"I can feel you’re going to score tonight" Sam said as we were on our way to the stadium.
"Yeah. You’re going to be on fire" Erin said as I took my headphones off.
"I don't know, maybe?!" I replied and then the two girls looked at me like I was crazy.
"Seriously?! You’re going to show everyone in the world who you are. You’re going to score one goal, maybe even two, but you will for sure score one goal. I promise you that '' Erin said.
"How can you promise that I will score?" I asked, looking at her confused.
"We’re just too smart" Sam answered and they did a very weird handshake.
“Well, I’ll try to score,” I said, putting my headphones on again.
"Oh, we know" they said in sinc as I rolled my eyes at them.
—
We had been on the field, just looking around for a few minutes and then I saw the Bayern Munich girls come into the field too. My eyes felt immediately on my girlfriend and when I locked eyes with her, I saw that she was already looking at me with a big smile.
Sydney and a few of my old teammates walked over to me with bright smiles.
When they reached me, Sydney quickly put her arms around my waist while mine came behind her neck.
"No matter what happens tonight, I will be proud of you, okay?!" she whispered in my ear.
"Okay. I love you" I responded.
"I love you too," she said, kissing my forehead.
"We’re also here" Sarah said, making us all laugh as she all catched up a bit.
I remember my time at Bayern Munich was amazing. It was hard, but it helped me become a better player and I got friends for life.
The most amazing thing about Bayern tho, was that I got the most amazing girlfriend in the whole world. Sometimes it's hard to not wake up with Sydney beside me. I miss her a lot everyday, but we make it work.
—
The game started and there was already a lot of pressure. I got the ball and kicked it down to Fran, she was luckily not offside as she took a hit and scored.
I runned down to her and celebrated with her and our teammates.
"That's what I'm talking about," Sam yelled, picking me up.
"Just remember, next time you are going to score" Erin said, I rolled my eyes at them.
After some time, I guess the girls were right, because as Maren kicked the corner, I jumped up and did a bicycle kick.
I heard the girls yell and celebrate, but all I could think about was how my head hurts like shit.
"Y/n, are you okay?" I could hear someone ask.
"W-who are you?" I stuttered out, taking my hands to my head.
"It's me, Sydney, your girlfriend. Does your head hurt?" The person, named Sydney said.
"My head. It’s screaming inside" I said and tried to get up, but my body said no.
“Y/n, please listen to me and lay down” I was tol.
I laid down again, then some people, I think are doctors, I don't really know, but yeah some people came and took me off the field.
The next thing I remember is, me getting in an ambulance…
—
Sydney's Pov:
I cried into Sarah''s shoulder as I watched Y/n getting taken off the field.
She didn't remember who I was and now she is going to the hospital.
"Why me?" I whispered into Sarah's shoulder.
"I don't know, but one thing I know is that Y/n is going to make it. She is strong and I know you are too. Alright?!" Sarah said as I looked her in the eyes.
I nodded softly and Sarah opened her arms, I hugged her tight.
"It's going to be okay," she said.
—
I was finally at the hospital. London traffic is shit!
I got inside and asked if I could see my girl.
"She had a bad landing at the field, so we have had some looks on her. Her head is completely fine, she will maybe just forget a few things. Then she also had a broken hand from the landing" the lady said.
I took a deep breath that I didn't even know I held on
"Can I see her?" I asked.
"Yes, come with me and we will find her," the lady said with a friendly smile.
We walked into Y/n's room and she looked so tired. I actually felt a little bad for coming in, but I really wanted to see her even if she doesn't remember me.
"Hey, Y/n" I said softly as I sat down on a chair beside her.
She looked at me like I was a stranger.
Please god, don't do this to me!..
"Sydney?" Y/n said confused. I smiled at her, because she remembered my name.
"Yes. I’m Sydney, your girlfriend" I replied with a nervous smile, hoping that she will remember me.
"Sydney Lohmann. You're my girlfriend, living in Germany" she said and smiled a bit.
"That's right. I miss you every day, when you are in London" I responded and wiped a tear away.
"I miss you too, but don't cry. I am right here" she said and opened her arms.
"No, love, I don't want to hurt you," I replied.
"It doesn't matter, come here!" Y/n said with a serious tone. I laughed at her and laid down beside her with my arms around her.
—
Y/n's Pov: (Champions League Final)
I was right now sitting watching the Champions League Final with Sydney in the crowd.
Since I couldn’t play, because of my head. I also still have a broken hand that I’m beginning to annoy.
There were 10 minutes back and Chelsea was in front with one goal.
"Hey, come down. They can do it" Sydney said, putting her hand on my tight. I smiled at her and laid me in her arms.
"I know" I replied.
After 10 minutes, where Sydney had probably thought I was annoying as hell, because of how nervously I was talking, Chelsea had done it. They won the Champions League.
We had freaking won the Champions League!..
I wished I could have played, but I still get a medal that says I have won the Champions League.
"Congrats, babe!” Sydney said and kissed me. I tried to kiss her back, but Sydney stopped me.
"Now, get down on the field and get the medal you deserve so much, okay baby?!" she said with a big smile.
"Okay. Thanks for always believing in me" I replied.
Sydney just smiled then she freaking pushed me away.
"Go out and celebrate, '' she ordered with a laugh.
"Okay, okay" I replied and walked down to the field.
The girls actually don't know I’m here watching them, cause I wanted to surprise them.
I jumped down to the field and, of course, Sam and Erin were the first one to see me.
"Y/N, YOU ARE FREAKING HERE" they yelled as they ran to me while I just laughed at them.
Then the rest of the team runned to me. Damn, I feel like I’m the main character in a movie right now.
Sam and Erin hugged me or more like jumped on me, so I fell to the ground, then all the other girls jumped on me too.
"Okay, girls, I know you love me, but I’m injured if you didn't know," I said with a laugh.
They all got off me and I got a hug from all of them.
"We missed you so much on the field in the last minutes," Magda said.
"Oh, I know," I replied sassy.
"Sassy queen is back, WOOHOO" Sam yelled.
I looked up at Sydney and made a heart with my hands, cause I’m romantic, you know…
"Oh, you lovergirl is also here" Erin teased with a laugh.
Yes Erin, she is and it's amazing…
It was raceday. And Franny had been up all morning. She had taken her dress to the Shelby household. Her father knew what the Shelby boys did, but he thought she would never engage with work like this. And it might look suspicious that Franny wasn't wearing her usual colors. But red of all things. Franny didn't like red, it speaks out in a room and she preferred to not be spotted and being able to listen in and gather information.
But this time it was her time to shine. Ada had come over but told her that as soon as she saw Thomas she would be gone. She had curled her hair and Ada was sticking it up and teasing it so it looked full of volume. When her hair was done she had been talking with Ada with a cup of tea. But after a while sounds started to be heard from upstairs.'That's my cue to watch outWatch out for Kimber okay?' Ada said while kissing the top of her head and quickly leaving.
'Was that Ada?' Thomas said walking down the stairs.He was right out of the door getting the car. Franny just nodded while she quickly walked over to the room Ada slept in. To change herself in the red dress she had bought.After a few minutes she came down again.
Her dress was a long one till her ankles. It was a dark red body which fell loosely over her body. Over it was a layer of see through dark red with long sleeves. Making it possibly to see her arms but every other bit was covered. 'Pol could you zip me up?' Franny asked as she came downstairs again. Not noticing John and Arthur had come in.Polly rushed towards her and zipped her up.
'Oh Fran you look amazing.' Polly said with a smile pushing a strand of hair out of her face. Franny smiled at her and walked over to the table. she took her dark lipstick and quickly put it on. 'You should wear red more often.' John said while lighting a cigarette. 'God you never shut up do you? it's bloody 6 in the morning.' Franny said standing in front of him. She took the cigarette out of his mouth and took it from him. 'You know how to be like me when you have kids.' John said rolling his eyes and grabbing another cigarette out of his pack.
'I basically raise yours, you need to find yourself a wife Johnny.' Franny said grabbing her hat bag because she heard the car pull up.'Good luck to you today boys. Kick some Lee butt for me.' She said while walking towards the door.
She was wearing really nice black high heels and pulled her coat over her dress. 'Well good luck with Kimber yourself. You look great bet you can pull it off Fran.' Arthur said patting her on her shoulder. 'Keep your head clear, if that fucker puts one finger on you I'll kill him myself.' John said after Arthur had walked away. he winked at her. Franny rolled her eyes and walked outside the door and climbed in Thomas his car. When they arrived Thomas had told her a lot of things.
Her alias to get in was that her name should be Lady Sarah Duggan of Connemara. 'Why are we going through the backway?' Franny asked not so sure if this was allowed. 'Well, I prefer to come to the races the back way. Keeps me or us out of trouble.' Thomas answered. When they came inside the more rich people area. He went over the plan again. 'Your name?'' Lady Sarah Duggan of Connemara. My horse his name is Dandy Flower If they ask about you, you speak Prussian and can't understand English.' Franny answered looking at Thomas. He just nodded impressively at her. They walked inside and were greeted by one of the staff members.
Thomas soon learned that Franny was extremely social and talked her way into everything he wanted. She ordered them both drinks and Thomas lit a cigarette. When they stood watching over the dance floor. Franny was watching in awe. She had attended a few races when she was smaller but she never had been in this kind of rich people club before. 'I still like the Garrison is better.' Thomas said while taking a swig from his cigarette. ‘Do you?' Franny asked smiling. 'Can you dance?' he asked.
'Only if you ask me properly.' Franny answered with a small smirk throwing the last sip of her drink back. 'Lady Sarah Duggan of Connemara.. Would you like to dance with me?' Thomas asked with a little bow. To which she just smiled at him. They both had spotted Kimber at a big table discussing lots of stuff with his accountant. One of his whores sitting bored at the table. 'I'm right behind you every step okay?' Thomas said looking her in her eyes. He did feel rather guilty about bringing her here. Kimber wasn't the nicest guy, but they both knew that.
They started to dance, at first slowly and nicely trying to squeeze between other people to get in sight of Kimber's table. Thomas had been looking at Kimber every few seconds. And he had spotted them. Thomas looked at his watch. 'Door.' he said and they were dancing towards the door. Which got opened by John the second they arrived. He threw the bags toward Thomas.
'We chased the Lees across the track and down to Devon road. We got every penny back.' John explained. John looked up at Franny who was turning around. And he just winked at her and his signature grin. ‘Buy the boys some drinks, anyone hurt?' Thomas asked laying a hand on John's shoulder 'Nah a few cuts and bruises.' John said smiling. 'Off we go Lady Sarah.' Thomas said having all the bags around his shoulders and walking towards Kimber's table. John was standing at the door looking after them. he just rolled his eyes and went back down again. Both Franny and Thomas were walking back. Franny didn't join Thomas at the table but got a drink from a waiter’s plate and lit herself a cigarette. Standing in a place she was easily spotted by Mr. Kimber. Thomas had thrown the bags on the table. ‘You money Mr. Kimber.' he said. Thomas pulled out a chair and lit a cigarette to get a deal with Kimber.' rescued from the Lee brothers. And returned to you with a request for a fair hearing. Your own protection is failing, Mr. Kimber.
Your boys are taking cuts.' Thomas pointed out. 'I want to suggest that from now on, you contract out your racetrack security to the Peaky Blinders. We would be saving you a lot of money, Mr. Kimber.' Thomas said while nodding his head.' A lot of money.In return, you give us, five percent of the take. and three... legal betting pitches at every race meeting, north of the river severn. Rising to six after one year if we are all satisfied with the service.' The accountant and Kimber exchanged looks. 'What do you say, Mr. Kimber?' Thomas asked.
Thomas and Kimber were looking at each other for a few seconds.'I say you talk business to my accountant. I want to dance.' Kimber said while standing up. He had his eyes on Franny. Which was exactly what Thomas and Franny's plan was. Franny was still holding on to her cigarette when Kimber stood in front of her. 'Your man said it was all right for me to have this dance.' Kimber said holding out his hand. Franny pushed out her cigarette and took his hand. She smiled at him And they started to dance. Franny needed to keep her smirk in. Kimber was a terrible dancer but he was so proud of himself. Franny tried to not look at him at all. So she could keep it together.
While Kimber stayed close to the table hoping he could impress Thomas. After a while, Kimber excused himself and gave Franny a drink from the bar. She took it gratefully and smiled sweetly at Kimber before she lit another cigarette. Thomas had told her to be careful with drinks so she threw it in a nearby standing plant without anyone noticing.
'Looks like you're making progress.' Kimber said sitting down at the table again.' We're making progress sir.' Roberts ( the accountant) said. 'Then let me throw a small condition into the mix.' Kimber said. Thomas looked up at him. And they both looked at Franny making small talk with some Kimber fangirl who was almost turning green so jealous that Franny had been dancing with Kimber. Then Thomas came over.
'So, listen. Kimber wants a new plan. And I'm kind off in a dubious here.' Thomas explained. 'Franny turned away from the Kimber table. So he couldn't see her facial expression. I kind off promised him two hours with you.' Thomas said clearly not feeling all too good about it either. Franny touched her upper lip with her tongue looking at Thomas. I'm not a whore Tommy.' Franny said lighting another cigarette.' well, you said you wanted to work a more exciting job in the business. To do that you have to sharpen up. He thinks he's a lady's man. He thinks he can seduce you.' Thomas told her. Franny blew a big cloud of smoke out. She was clearly thinking about it, but she wasn't just letting some dirty old creep fuck her. 'Whenever you want, just kick him in the balls.' Thomas said lifting up her chin. 'Don't tell John about this.' Franny said looking him in the eyes. Thomas was about to walk away.
'Promise me Thomas or I'll scream.' Franny said holding his blouse. 'You're just like bloody Ada.' Thomas said. 'Fine, I promise. I'll try to be there as soon as I can, try to stall him.' Thomas said as he walked over to Kimber to seal the deal.
Just half an hour later Franny found herself in a huge mansion. It was Kimber's and she didn't feel at ease at all but she kept her side of the promise. After almost 45 minutes of exploring the house and Franny asked all about his art. Trying to keep him busy he was done with her. ‘You showed me up back there at the races.' Kimber said putting a music record on.'Why don't you teach me how to dance properly.' Kimber said grabbing her hand and pulling her onto the huge space in the room. 'The music is too slow Mr. Kimber. Put on a Charleston. ' Franny said with a sweet smile.
'Yes but then we would be far away, I want to stay like this.' Kimber said annoyingly persuasive.'Come on. You weren't so stiff back there, were you?' Kimber said. Franny just smiled softly. 'Have you ever been in a house this big?' He asked her trying to show off. 'Look at you.' he said while standing in front of her.He put his hand on her hair and then behind her ear. 'You look like a bloody film star.' Kimber said coming closer.Franny had to be stalling him long enough so Thomas could get her.He then kissed her neck. Franny exposed her neck a little so he could brush his lips over her neck. She felt grew sicker with him.After he let go she pushed him off.'Let me have a cigarette.' She said looking at him.
Kimber walked off of her. And walked towards his liquor. he picked up a glass and then dropped it on the floor.'Pick it up.' He said with his annoying face.'Excuse me?' Franny said while grabbing her pack of cigarettes.
'Your'e a fucking barmaid pick it up.' Kimber said now sounding more angry.'Pick it up your bloody self.' Franny said looking at him with her eyebrow raised. she then noticed how not nice she had behaved but she really didn't want him to do anything to her.He then walked over to her, grabbed her by her shoulder, and pushed her down on the pool table. 'If I tell you to pick up a fucking glass, then you pick up a fucking glass! She could hear his belt buckle and she had closed her eyes already she was still trying to resist. And she hadn't had the time to remove the knife she had strapped to her thigh. when he would find that she was done for.
'Mr. Kimber!' She then said and pushed him off her with force.' he looked even more mad then before. 'this not a way to behave to lady's. This is also not the place to do something with a lady.' She said looking at him.She pulled her dress back down to her knees. 'I guess you can take me to a room with a bit more privacy.' Franny said with her heart bouncing in her chest.Kimber suddenly turned around. His nice smile was back, and he took her to one of the guest rooms.She had the time to remove the small knife she had strapped to her thigh and fastly pushed it in her bag.
Kimber came back in.And Franny let out a deep breath. Before pushing her hair to the side. 'Could you unzip me sir?' She asked sweetly. In a matter of a second he was over there unzipping her dress. Franny felt horrible but they needed this bad for the company. the dress fell of her shoulders and she was left in her undergarments'. Kimber was over it and he once again pushed her over but this time on the bed. 'Sir..' she tried to reason with him.
'nothing sir you've been teasing me all day.Your like a film star I need it now.' He said as she heard fabric ripping.Franny bit on her lip trying to hold back her tears. When suddenly the door got pushed open.'WHAT!?' Kimber said.Thomas ran in trying to get hold back by what Franny assumed was Kimber's butler.When he tried to stop Thomas he raised his hand to pick over a fight.Kimber jumped up.'What are you doing here!? I've got another hour!' he said looking extremely mad at Thomas.
Franny took her chances and jumped over the bed. her hands over her exposed breastsw. 'Just wait.Listen to me..Just listen to me!' Thomas said calmly trying to reason with Kimber.It was like he was taming a wild horse.'I was going to let you go through with it, but in the end, my conscience got the better of me.' Thomas started. He picked up Franny's dress and threw it towards her.'She looks good on the outside.' Thomas hesitated for a second.'But she has the clap.' He said looking Kimber straight in the eyes.Franny took her chances and didn't even listen to what Thomas had to say she put on her dress as fastly as she could.Kimber straightened his blouse and backed up a step from the bed.'Yeah. Syphilis.' Thomas explained.
'when you took a shine to her, I thought to use her.Someone told me she had the syph, I thought What the hell.' Thomas explained.'Call it my better nature.' Thomas said trying to ease things down with Kimber. 'Wait in the car.' Thomas said pushing her towards the door.Franny took her chances. She walked over to Kimber.'Such a shame.' She said with a smile tracing her finger over his tie. Before walking out of the room.'I'm sorry Mr. Kimber.' Thomas said sticking out his hand.
'Can we forget this ever happened?' he asked. Franny sat in the car putting her dress between her legs.She was shakenly smoking a cigarette. When Thomas came back and started the car. They drove off. It was silent for a while. And then Thomas stopped the car and turned towards Franny. 'I'm so sorry Fran.I should have never put you up like this..I didn't think he wanted this.I just wanted to use you like a trophy' He said.Thomas never apologized. She knew he was serious and she looked at him. And swallowed deep before answering him.'It's ok, nothing happened but I'd like to go home now.' Franny said smiling softly at Thomas.
My little Princess
“Behave for Granny, can you do that for me?” Derek is crouched down in front of his toddler, who nods giggling. “Yes, Sir”, she salutes in mock. “Oh, it’s on, Little One!” He grabs his daughter and tickles her. Her sweet laughter is heard through the whole house.
“Derek, are you attacking my Granddaughter again?” His mother makes her way down the staircase as she is alerted by the noises. “Of course not, Ma.” He is quick to let go of her, smoothing (Y/N)'s clothes and hair.
A smile appears on the woman’s face. “Honey, how about you go play with your aunties? You father will come up to you to say goodbye, ok?” “Yes Granny!” And off she toddles, as fast as the legs of a four year old can.
“I say this as your mother”, Fran tells her son, “I want you to relax on this vacation. You had enough stress over the last months. So please use it to not worry for once. (Y/N) is going to have so much fun with me and your sisters, she is in good hands.” Because of the distance between Quantico and Chicago and his job, the little family is rarely able to visit them. So for obvious reasons Fran saviours every moment she can have with her granddaughter.
“Thank you, Ma.” Derek hugs his mother, happy to have her support any time.
Unfortunately his vacation with Elle in Jamaica is anything but relaxing. As soon as he sits in a precinct waiting for Hotch’s arrival to get their co-worker out of the police’s custody, an eerie feeling sets down in his stomach. Even though Derek knows to listen to his gut, he tries to ignore it and concentrates on the facts he has so far.
As far as he knows there is nothing to be worried about concerning his daughter’s safety. She is in Chicago with his family probably enjoying a bowl of cereals or something with her Auntie Sarah. His princess is safe and sound.
Once again the FBI agent is wrong. The video from the so called ‘Fisher King’ not only left Spencer running around like a nervous chicken. Morgan looks like he could be his chicken companion.
“Hotch! I need to talk to you in private!” He calls out to his Unit Chief. Aaron nods and shows him to his office. There Derek immediately begins to talk.
“I know you read my files and at first I wanna thank you for not telling the team. I-” “It’s ok. Bring her here”, he cuts off the rambling man. Thankfully Morgan looks at his boss. “Thank you, Hotch. I can’t stress that enough.”
The next half an hour he is not seen by anybody, because the young father walks back and forth in the building’s parking lot, making countless phone calls.
“Desiree, I swear to you, I owe you for a lifetime. Can you come directly to the FBI? I’ll make sure the receptionist lets you through. I love you, see you in two hours.” The following time you can only describe Derek as a nervous wreck. He can’t stop bouncing his leg, is not really there mentally and grows more and more snappy with the team.
After he barked for the third time at Spencer as he tried to explain something and began to ramble, Gideon looks at him. “What is your problem, Morgan?” His calm voice agitates the man further. “What my problem is? There is a freak out there, wanting to play some weird game with us and we have NOTHING! Maybe that is my prob-” A small voice cuts him off.
“Daddy?”
A girl stands in the doorway to the conference room. Derek turns around and runs over to her. She meets him halfway and throws herself into his arms. “Auntie Desi and I flew with a plane, just like we did! I also got peanuts, but I told Auntie Desi I wanna share them with you.” (Y/N) pulls out a small white plastic bag and offers her father some.
Morgan begins to smile, though he gets teary eyes. “Thank you Princess. God, I love you so so much.” He hugs her again, keeping his daughter closer to him and kissing her hair. “I love you, too, Daddy. I hope you had as much fun as I had at Granny’s.” The agent chuckles. “I did. Hey, there are some people I want you to meet. Is it alright with you?”
Not until this moment the little girl realizes that there are more people in the room. She nods timidly.
“Ok, this is Spencer, the genius I told you about. Say Hi to Elle, she is the tough lady. There is JJ, she is perfect with words. At the table sits Jason, the wisest man you can meet. This is Aaron, even though he has a mean stare, he has a pure heart. And the woman you can see there walking through the bullpen is Penelope, my only other baby girl beside you and a goddess with computers”, Morgan describes every single person to his daughter.
(Y/N) turns towards him, whispering not so quietly into her father’s ear: “Are these your superhero friends? The people you make the world saver with?” The team’s heart swells, so does Gideon’s, though he won’t admit it out loud.
Between the cruel things they saw in the last hours and such an innocent act let them believe there is still good in the world.
