~MODERATOR~ COMMENTS: when i tell you i SCREAMED about vamp fred, i am actually kidding because i’m at a family function — but i squealed on the inside!! that is such an original take on how to retcon a death and i am absolutely in love. the weasley twins have always had a big piece of my heart and seeing fred be brought back to life? amazing. i love how much detail you put into his post-war life and the description of his return and reunion with his family ( molly smacking him on the head? relatable! ) i also love that you went into detail about the Consequences of his turning and i genuinely cannot wait to see how fred is adjusting to this new phase of his life ( or, well, is he adjusting? can’t wait to see! ) i absolutely love the concept of vampire!fred weasley i honestly, that's such a great concept. i love the voice that the app was written in it feels very fred to me because it made me laugh out loud multiple times. i can't wait to see him in the rp because i think he'll fit in so perfectly with the rest of the weasleys we have too

WELCOME CORMAC MCLAGGEN ( charles melton fc ) — PLAYED BY YAZZY!

~MODERATOR~ COMMENTS: i adore cormac, "cannot pass a reflective surface without looking at himself" and "thinks #yolo is very deep, actually" are just... my fave. so amazing, i think the characterisation of him is so so fun and on point, he's a lighthearted himbo, but he's more than that too and i love to see it. cormac has never been one of my favorite characters, since he was presented as somewhat of a “bad person” in canon. however, reading this application i fell in love with him. cormac gives meaning to the quote “ignorance is bliss” and i can only imagine how good it must have been to be oblivious to the darkness surrounding all of hogwarts during those years. also, i love the fact he is so lovable and also a little league coach — it was definitely unexpected given his cocky nature. also the parallel that quidditch is so important to him and he presents himself as someone so put together — but deep down he doesn’t know who he is? POETIC CINEMA!! i just love how fleshed out cormac is, with both qualities and weakness, dreams and fears. i am in love. basically: cormac, hmu

ADMIN COMMENTS: your document layout alone was so much fun to see jane! the werewolf scratches, the fact that it’s set up like a diary — we loved seeing it so much. genuinely felt a bit of pain there for lavender, when i read the cancer sun, moon, AND rising. but i also enjoyed reading about her parents, the way they treated her magic, saw it as basically the same as meditation, it fits so much with everything else about her personality. and then of course, there’s the darker parts of lavender since the battle, which give me SO much interest to see her in action & blend with the rest of the group!

I really hoped my Star Wars hype would come back but nearly 10 months after TROS I really need to admit it's not happening. So I changed up all my layout stuff and moved from Daisy Ridley to Sarah Jeffery. And I made it Halloween theme because why not. 

I’m still super Reylo but TROS really killed my love for Star Wars and my desire to write it.

It’s really unfortunate because while I started xonceinadream using Sarah Bolger as a “face,” I’ve been using Daisy Ridley since I stopped watching Once Upon a Time in 2013! The fact that I have no real interest in using her anymore is just sad to me.

SPECIALIST PRACTICE

Briefing

After the briefing I started looking at the briefs to decide which ones stood out to me at first read so I could start to narrow it down. I think from the presentation the idea of creating an animation to a voiceover for RSA looked really appealing from the presentation and I would love to give animation a go. I also really like the idea of delving into book design and learning a lot more about the form of a book and seeing how I can manipulate it.

The briefs that peaked to me the most were; Moving pictures RSA, OPEN/CLOSE ISTD, Mapping the World ISTD, The Spaces Between ISTD

Moving Pictures

I listened to both audios for Moving Pictures. The first audio was the one I thought I could tackle. I did really like the second one and I did think the tone of the way he spoke was a lot easier to listen to and gage a personality from however it was on a topic I am not sure if I am the correct person to illustrate.

Change is Necessary, narrated by Sarah Ichioka was quite inspiring as the way we live and the damage it is causing to our environment is something I am quite passionate about. I started to annotate this to see what certain words and phrases meant as the language isn’t the easiest to understand.

OPEN/CLOSE

I really liked the idea of this brief as it allows you to play with an already existing narrative and a story behind it. I think in terms of type layout and playfulness this is a great brief. The only thing holding me back is that I am not the best reader and find it really hard to interpret text (it can take me quite a while). For this reason I don’t think I will do this.

Mapping the World

When reading the mapping the world brief I thought it could be really interesting to map someone’s life. I found an example of an ISTD based on a person, specifically Jeffery Dahmer which sparked this idea. This ISTD looks at his life from a neutral perspective in order to typographically explore his humanity and how evolved from an innocent child into the monster he became.

Another idea I had for this brief was to talk about my brain condition that I have. Which is Arnold Chiari malformation Type 1. This condition occurs when the skull is too small, forcing the brain to push down into the spinal canal. I thought it could be interesting to map this and perhaps how it feels as well.

The final idea I had for this was a sleep journey, however this was just an in the moment idea and is not one of my favourites.

The Spaces Between

The spaces between brief felt quite open. There isn’t a set outcome as far as I’m aware from the brief. It also has quite a lot of avenues you can go down, it also feels quite similar to the mapping brief in terms of ideas being able to work for either depending on how you frame it. I also think doing my brain condition for this one could also work, and perhaps work better

Ideas that I thought of immediately were the space between start and finish and perhaps the journey an athlete takes from the beginning of their career to the end/when they are competing. I’m sure it can be incredibly hard to be training constantly and not get to where you thought you’d be. Also how certain spaces have changed over time.
