Sapphic September 2021

After being involved in 77 works (both writing and getting involved, tangentially, in podficcing), this month marks my one year anniversary in the Schitt's Creek fandom! It's been an amazing year, and I'm celebrating it with two Sapphic September drabble collections thanks to @solar-settings & @averywritesthings' prompt list.

Kima had been with the Mighty Nein for a few hours now, and she wasn’t unduly impressed. She felt like she was babysitting a gaggle of toddlers, they seemed to have about the same attention span and sense of direction. Every corner needed to be explored and every lock needed to be picked.

Kima didn’t care much for exploring this pre-divergence artifact. She just wanted to find her wife and get the hell out. Especially after seeing the half-orc—his name was Vord, like her own, she was pretty sure—get swallowed by a giant toad and the others swarmed by magic-sucking blood flies. And their magic was only a fraction as powerful as Allura’s, which meant she was in a lot more danger. And Kima was starting to feel like they were running out of time with every passing minute.

Kima took a small sip of the wine. The liquid coated her tongue with a weird film and filled her mouth with a bitter taste. For a moment, she wondered if all the sweet Marquesian drinks from the past week had rewired her expectations of alcohol, and that anything that didn’t taste like a squeezed fruit basket was just horribly bitter. Then her lips started to go numb and she knew that there was something wrong with the wine and not her taste buds.

“Kima?” Allura said, blinking heavily and swaying in her chair, reaching for Kima’s hand.

“Poison,” Kima spat, rushing from her seat as Allura listed sideways, catching her before she could hit the ground head first.
