What an almost perfect day it was. Headed north from #lisboa to see the unbelievably amazing #mosteirodabatalha in #batalha, then over to the #catholic #mecca of #fatima to see the #santuariodefatima and actually caught a mass! 🙏 Continued on toward #porto, where the hotel provided me with an address to a nearby “park,” where the bellman would meet me to take my luggage and escort me back to the hotel that obviously didn’t compute in my good old gps map, and I proceeded to be lead to a DIFFERENT CITY and subsequently was #lostagain for two hours. Let’s just say, I was less than thrilled by the time the bellman, Thomás came to save me and physically guided me to the elusive “park,” which I thought meant an ACTUAL PARK that I was looking for … NOT a PARKING GARAGE. The map situation has been a challenge to say the least. Oh the little things that happen while traveling that can really put a wrench your day. I do not like these “little wrenches” and I also do not think driving a car in #portugal is an efficient or sane way to get around for a non-local. But then again, we all know I am far from sane, so maybe it was an appropriate decision. 😖 Arrived into Porto just as the sun was setting and I was somehow miraculously able to pull over and park the car quickly and run to go enjoy the sunset from the #infantedomhenriquebridge. Quite beautiful!! Thomás gave me some great tips on #streetmusicians and good food. @estrela.gomes is an insanely talented musician who performed last night and I was lucky enough not only to see her and her band, but score a table at #puro4050 (best pasta I’ve ever had! Spaguethi Nero camarao lulas e tomate seco.) where I was able to dine and enjoy the music. Walked down by the waterfront, admiring the exquisite lights reflecting off the #douroriver and the breathtaking #pontededomluis #bridge. Looking forward to my exploration of Porto in the morning.
