Israel apoya a Guatemala ante la situación con la secta Lev Tahor

🇬🇹 Israel expresó su total apoyo a Guatemala el 23 de diciembre de 2024, a través de su embajador Alon Lavi, respaldando las acciones contra la secta judía ultraortodoxa Lev Tahor, que llegó al país en 2013. El grupo es acusado de violencia contra menores, incluyendo abusos sexuales y matrimonios forzados. Miembros de la secta judía extremista Lev Tahor chocan con la Policía en Guatemala

🇬🇹 El 23 de diciembre de 2024, miembros de la secta judía extremista Lev Tahor protagonizaron un enfrentamiento con la Policía de Guatemala para exigir la liberación de menores que habían sido rescatados el 20 de diciembre. Los niños, que estaban bajo la custodia de la secta, fueron rescatados durante un allanamiento en la comunidad de Lev Tahor en Santa Rosa, a unos 100 km al sur de la Ciudad de Guatemala. Esta operación fue parte de una investigación por trata de personas, tras testimonios de menores que escaparon en noviembre y denunciaron abuso y matrimonio forzado. Los miembros de la secta intentaron recuperar a los menores en el hogar estatal donde estaban alojados, pero la Policía intervino y los menores fueron rescatados nuevamente. El Ministerio Público está investigando el caso, mientras la comunidad judía guatemalteca colabora en asegurar que los niños reciban protección y cuidados adecuados. Además, se encontraron restos humanos en la comunidad de El Amatillo, aunque se están esperando los resultados finales de las investigaciones.

The children, who had been in the custody of the sect, were rescued during a raid in the Lev Tahor community in Santa Rosa, about 100 km south of Guatemala City. This operation was part of an investigation into human trafficking, following testimonies from minors who escaped in November and reported abuse and forced marriages. Sect members attempted to reclaim the minors at the state-run shelter where they were staying, but the Police intervened, and the minors were rescued again. The Prosecution is investigating the case, while the Guatemalan Jewish community is collaborating to ensure that the children receive protection and proper care. Additionally, human remains were found in the community of El Amatillo, although final results from the investigations are still pending.
