Are they protective of you?
cw: Are they like a guard dog that won't leave your side? Or are they more carefree about the dangers around you?
Of course they are like a big guard dog! You have no idea how dangerous the world is out there; obviously, they have to protect you from everything and everyone! When itâs not their arm around your shoulders, pulling your body closer to theirs, then itâs definitely their jacket or hoodie over you, making it clear to anyone that youâre together. And how can you say they donât need to fight the jerk who touched you? Of course they do! If itâs to protect you, they would do anything (within or outside the law).
Fell, DELTA, CROSS, Killer, Dust, FellSwap Gold
Theyâre a bit of both. Of course, theyâll defend you if someone tries to pick a fight with you, but they also give you space to handle your own problems. Youâre both pretty comfortable with that, and usually, you prefer to stay in your corner peacefullyâmuch better than having someone barking at everyone who tries to get close to you.
COLOR, Fresh, Ink, SWAP, Dream, Geno, Classic
They prefer that you defend them. Every time they get into a fight, they look at you like a wet cat, completely helpless and pleading for your help. You, on the other hand, donât mind at all standing in front of them, protecting them from whatever is intimidating them (whether itâs an ignorant guy or a giant bug). Itâs them who wear your jacket as a form of protection, while your arm is around their hips. Could they be pretending just to see you all brave defending them? Youâll never know~
LUST, Science, Farm, SwapFell
You'll never know how many people they've gotten rid of just because they look at you weird.

ăpairingă: spiderman! san x reader ft. wooyoung ăauă: marvel | spider-verse | ăgenreă: angst | ăsummaryă: san knew the consequences of being spiderman, but he didn't realize the fact that you would someday be apart of it as well.. ăword countă: 3.4k ăwarning(s)ă: green goblin, san trying his best :(. Woo to the rescue ( as a bestie )
San's hands trembled slightly as he handed you the cup, though he tried to play it off by scratching the back of his neck. He avoided your gaze, knowing full well that the guilt of lying to you was evident on his face. Being Spider-Man had changed everything in his life, including the way he loved you.
"Work's just been... crazy lately," he muttered, sitting across from you on the couch. The faint bruise on his jawline, just barely peeking out from under his collar, didnât go unnoticed.
You narrowed your eyes, setting the coffee down on the table. "Crazy enough for you to miss date night three weeks in a row? And for you to show up looking like you lost a fight with a wall every other time I see you?"
San flinched but forced a weak laugh. "I'm clumsy, you know that."
You leaned forward, concern softening your features. "Sannie, you can tell me if something's wrong. I just... I feel like you're keeping something from me. Is it the job? Did something happen at the Bugle?"
He looked at you then, and for a moment, his heart clenched painfully. You deserved the truth. You deserved to know everything. But the memory of the last time he let someone close to him know about Spider-Man played over and over in his head. The danger, the consequencesâit wasnât worth risking your life.
"Itâs just the job," he lied, hating himself more with every word. "Jonah's been running me ragged with all these deadlines. And, uh, thereâs this big assignment Iâm working on. Itâs been keeping me out late."
"An assignment?" you asked, tilting your head. "Does it have to do with Spider-Man? Youâre always bringing in those crazy photos of him."
San swallowed hard, forcing a casual shrug. "Yeah, something like that."
You studied him for a moment, clearly unconvinced but choosing not to push. "Okay, fine. But if youâre overworking yourself, promise me youâll take a break, okay? I donât like seeing you like this."
San smiled faintly, the warmth of your concern only deepening his resolve to protect you. "I promise."
But as he watched you sip your coffee, blissfully unaware of the world he carried on his shoulders, he knew it was a promise he couldnât keep.
The weight in your chest grew heavier as you stared at the blank screen of your phone. No missed calls. No texts. Just the same empty silence that had started to feel all too familiar. You sighed, setting the phone down on the table next to the untouched breadbasket, trying to ignore the pang of disappointment coursing through you.
The restaurant was warm and inviting, filled with the soft hum of chatter and the clinking of silverware. Yet, in that moment, you felt completely out of place, like a painting hung in the wrong gallery.
The waiter approached again, their polite smile faltering slightly. âWould you like to order something while you wait?â
You forced a small smile. âNot yet, thank you. Iâm sure heâll be here soon.â
They nodded, retreating back to the kitchen, but you could feel their pity lingering in the air.
Another glance at your watch. He was over an hour late. This was supposed to be a night for the two of youâa rare moment where San had promised you his undivided attention. No work. No excuses. Just the two of you and the kind of love that had once felt so effortless.
You tried to brush away the doubts creeping into your mind, but they were relentless. This wasnât the first time heâd done thisâmissed a date without so much as a word. The excuses always came later, flimsy and unconvincing, but you wanted so badly to believe them because it was San.
" yn? is that you?"
You looked up to see Wooyoung, you gave him a polite smile, waving at him. He was quick to sit across you.
" what are you doing here alone? waiting for san?"
âWooyoung,â you said softly, surprised to see him. His sudden presence was like a gust of fresh air breaking through the suffocating heaviness youâd been feeling. âYeah, Iâm waiting for San.â
Wooyoung tilted his head, his ever-curious gaze settling on the untouched wine in front of you. âHmm, how long have you been waiting?â he asked, his tone light but laced with concern.
You hesitated, swirling the glass absentmindedly. âAbout an hour.â
His eyes widened slightly before narrowing in annoyanceânot at you, but at the situation. âAn hour? Seriously? Whatâs he doing, fighting off villains or something?â He chuckled, trying to lighten the mood, but you couldnât bring yourself to laugh.
You gave him a weak smile. âYou know how he is. Work gets in the way a lot.â
Wooyoung frowned, leaning forward, his voice dropping to a softer, more serious tone. âThat doesnât mean he should leave you sitting here by yourself. You deserve better than this, Y/N.â
You looked down at your hands, his words stinging in a way you didnât expect. âItâs not always like this. Heâs just⌠busy.â
Wooyoungâs gaze softened as he watched you struggle to defend San. He reached across the table, resting his hand lightly over yours.
" why don't we hang out hm? It's been years since we last seen each other anyways"
You glanced down at Wooyoung's hand resting over yours, his touch gentle yet steady. The weight of his words lingered in the air, a mix of nostalgia and comfort that pulled at your heart.
âIt really has been years, hasnât it?â you murmured, a small smile playing on your lips. Memories of late-night adventures and endless laughter with Wooyoung flickered through your mind like an old film reel.
He grinned, his eyes lighting up. âExactly. So, letâs catch up. No pressure, no strings. Just two old friends grabbing a bite or doing something fun.â
You hesitated, your mind drifting to San. Youâd been waiting for him all night, hoping for some time together, yet here was Wooyoung, offering you the one thing San had been struggling to give: his undivided attention.
âAre you sure you donât have somewhere else to be?â you asked, your voice soft but teasing.
Wooyoung scoffed, dramatically placing a hand over his heart. âY/N, Iâm offended. Do you really think Iâd leave you here by yourself after all this time?â
A small laugh escaped your lips despite yourself. âOkay, okay. You win.â
His grin widened, and he gave your hand a light squeeze before letting go. âGreat! Where to? Fancy wine isnât really my style, but I know a killer street food spot nearby. Unless youâre craving something else?â
You looked at him, his enthusiasm infectious. For the first time that evening, the disappointment and frustration that had been weighing you down seemed to lift. âStreet food sounds perfect.â
Just as you stood to grab your coat, your phone buzzed on the table. You glanced at the screen to see Sanâs name flashing, a wave of conflicted emotions washing over you.
Wooyoung noticed your hesitation and leaned closer, his voice low and sincere. âItâs your call, Y/N. But whatever you decide, just make sure itâs what you want, not what you feel obligated to do.â
You met his gaze, his words resonating deeply. Taking a deep breath, you picked up your phone, but instead of answering, you slid it into your bag.
âLetâs go, Woo,â you said, a newfound sense of clarity in your voice.
His face lit up, and he offered his arm with a playful wink. âThatâs what Iâm talking about. Lead the way, my lady.â
Sanâs brow furrowed as he swung through the city, the wind rushing past him. His grip tightened on the web-line as he landed on a nearby rooftop, staring down at the glowing city streets below. He glanced at the time on his phone. An hour and twenty minutes late. The guilt heâd been carrying all night only deepened as he realized just how much heâd let you downâagain.
Sanâs mind raced as he approached the restaurant, his heart pounding. What if you were still there? What if you werenât? The thought of you leaving, of giving up on him, was enough to make his stomach twist.
Swinging down to the alley beside the restaurant, he quickly pulled off his mask, stuffing it into his backpack and smoothing his hair. He stepped inside, scanning the room, but his heart sank when he didnât see you.
What he did see, however, was the waiter clearing the table where youâd been sitting. The half-empty glass of wine, the untouched breadbasketâit all painted a picture he couldnât ignore.
San approached the waiter hesitantly. âExcuse me. The woman who was sitting thereâdid she leave long ago?â
The waiter gave him a look of recognition, paired with mild irritation. âShe waited for over an hour. Another gentleman joined her for a bit before they left together.â
Another gentleman? Sanâs jaw clenched. âDid she say where she was going?â
The waiter shook his head, clearly unimpressed. âShe didnât mention anything. Maybe try calling her.â
San nodded, murmuring a quiet thank you before stepping back out onto the street. His mind reeled as he pieced things together. Another man? Who could it have been?
Then it hit him. Wooyoung.
San pulled out his phone, his fingers hovering over your name in his contacts. He wanted to call, to explain, to beg you to give him another chanceâbut he didnât.
Instead, he shoved the phone back into his pocket and started walking, his head hanging low. Heâd promised himself he wouldnât let his double life hurt the people he loved, but tonight, heâd failed you.
And now, he couldnât shake the image of you walking away with someone who might actually make you feel like you mattered.
You were laughing at something Wooyoung had said as you two walked side by side.
" so, how are you and San? Surprised that he hasn't put a ring on it just yet?"
You let out a soft chuckle at Wooyoung's playful teasing, though his question hit a little closer to home than youâd expected. âSan and IâŚâ you trailed off, the words catching in your throat as you glanced at the ground.
Wooyoung noticed the hesitation and slowed his steps, his usual grin softening into something gentler. âHey, I was just joking,â he said quickly, nudging your shoulder lightly. âYou donât have to answer if you donât want to.â
You shook your head, a faint smile tugging at your lips. âNo, itâs okay. Itâs justâŚâ You paused, exhaling a breath you didnât realize you were holding. âThings between us havenât exactly been easy lately. Heâs so busy with work, and I just feel like⌠like Iâm always waiting for him.â
Wooyoung frowned, his brows furrowing in concern. âY/N, that doesnât sound fair to you. Relationships are supposed to be a two-way street, not one person doing all the waiting.â
You shrugged, your hand brushing against his as you walked. âI know heâs trying, but itâs hard not to feel⌠invisible sometimes.â
Wooyoung stopped walking, gently catching your wrist to make you turn toward him. âYou are not invisible,â he said firmly, his dark eyes locking onto yours. âAnyone who makes you feel that way doesnât deserve you. And Iâm not just saying that because I think youâre amazing.â
You blinked, caught off guard by the intensity of his words. âWooâŚâ
He held up his hands, taking a small step back to give you space. âSorry, didnât mean to go full motivational speaker on you,â he said with a small laugh. âI just hate seeing you like this. You deserve to feel loved and appreciated, not like youâre some afterthought.â
Your chest tightened at his words, emotions swirling inside you. Wooyoung had always been honestâsometimes to a faultâbut hearing him say these things out loud made it harder to ignore the doubts that had been creeping into your mind for weeks.
The joyful moment between you and Wooyoung shattered as piercing screams echoed through the street. People began scattering in all directions, panic and chaos erupting like wildfire. Your heart pounded as you instinctively grabbed Wooyoungâs arm, your breath catching when you heard the sinister laughter reverberating above the chaos.
âGreen Goblin,â Wooyoung muttered under his breath, his grip on your hand tightening protectively. âWe need to get out of here. Now.â
Before you could respond, a deafening explosion shook the ground, sending shards of glass and debris flying through the air. Wooyoung yanked you closer, shielding you with his body as the two of you ducked into a nearby alley.
Your mind raced as adrenaline surged through your veins. âWhat the hell is he doing here?â you asked, your voice trembling.
Wooyoung peeked around the corner, his face pale but resolute. âWhatever it is, we donât want to stick around to find out.â
The eerie cackle grew louder, closer, and your stomach churned as you caught a glimpse of Green Goblinâs glider swooping through the air, smoke trailing behind it. He hurled another pumpkin bomb, the explosion lighting up the street and sending more terrified civilians scrambling for cover.
Wooyoung pulled you further into the alley, his hand steady on your back as he guided you toward an exit. âWeâll head toward the subway. Itâs safer underground.â
But as the two of you started running, another explosion rocked the area, forcing you to stumble. You looked up just in time to see the glider hovering above the alley entrance, Green Goblinâs twisted grin visible even from a distance.
âWell, well, what have we here?â he sneered, his voice dripping with malice. âA lovely couple out for a stroll? How quaint.â
Wooyoung stepped in front of you, his stance tense but unwavering. âStay behind me,â he whispered, his voice low but firm.
âWoo, we need to run,â you urged, panic bubbling in your throat.
Green Goblin tilted his head, clearly amused. âOh, donât run now. The funâs just getting started!â He tossed another bomb, but before it could hit, a streak of red shot through the air, webbing it mid-flight and flinging it away.
Your heart skipped a beat as Spider-Man swung into view, landing gracefully between you and the Green Goblin. His suit gleamed under the flickering streetlights, his posture tense and ready for battle.
âSorry, Gobbie,â Spider-Man quipped, his tone sharp but calm. âDate nightâs officially canceled.â
âSpider-Man,â Green Goblin snarled, his grin turning feral. âAlways ruining my fun.â
San had to do a double take when he realized who he had just saved. His heart pounded loudly in his ear now when he knew your life was on the line. Goblin noticed his double take, causing him to swoop down and grab you away from Wooyoung who you tried to hold to.
âY/N!â Sanâs voice cracked as he watched Green Goblin swoop down, his clawed hand yanking you away from Wooyoungâs grasp. You screamed, reaching out for Wooyoung, but the Goblinâs iron grip held you tight, dragging you into the air.
âAh, this oneâs special to you, isnât she, Spider-Man?â Green Goblin taunted, his laughter echoing through the chaos. He ascended higher, dangling you precariously over the street below. âLetâs see how well you fight when your heartâs on the line!â
âNo!â San shouted, panic surging through him. He launched a web at the glider, trying to pull it down, but Goblin swerved at the last second, sending the web latching onto a lamppost instead.
âLet her go!â San demanded, his voice shaking with barely contained rage. He swung after you, his mind racing. Every instinct screamed at him to act fast, but he knew the Goblin would exploit his desperation.
Wooyoung stumbled back, his face pale as he watched the scene unfold. âSan...â he murmured, realization dawning on him. He shook himself out of his shock and turned, looking for a way to help, but the battle raging above was beyond anything he could do.
âPoor Spider-Man,â Goblin crooned mockingly, his glider zigzagging through the air with you in tow. âWhat will you choose, hm? The girl or the city?â He tilted his head, then suddenly hurled a pumpkin bomb toward a nearby building.
The explosion sent debris raining down onto the street, and Sanâs stomach twisted. He didnât have time to think. He shot a web to catch falling rubble, using all his strength to yank it away from the scattering civilians below.
âStop it!â you cried, struggling against the Goblinâs grip. âYouâre insane!â
âOh, my dear,â Goblin sneered, his grip tightening on you. âInsanity is just another word for freedom.â
San swung toward the Goblin with everything he had, firing a web straight at the Goblinâs arm. This time, it hit its mark. âI said, let her go!â he roared, yanking hard enough to jolt the Goblin off balance.
With a snarl, Green Goblin flung you aside, sending you plummeting through the air. Time seemed to slow as your scream tore through the night.
Sanâs heart stopped. He didnât thinkâhe just moved. In one fluid motion, he shot a web toward you, snagging your waist before you could fall too far. He yanked you toward him, catching you in his arms mid-air as he swung to safety.
âGot you,â he whispered, his voice trembling as he held you tightly.
A choked sobbed left your lips as he put you down next to Wooyoung who was quick to take you into his arms.
âY/N,â Wooyoung murmured, his voice shaky as he pulled you into his arms. He held you tightly, his hand cradling the back of your head as you buried your face into his shoulder, the sobs wracking your body uncontrollably.
San stood there for a moment, his mask hiding the raw pain etched into his face. His chest heaved as he fought to steady his breathing, the image of you being torn from his grasp burned into his mind. He wanted to hold you, comfort you, but seeing you in Wooyoungâs arms brought a sharp ache to his heart.
Sanâs hands curled into fists as he turned away, unable to look at you in Wooyoungâs arms for a second longer. His heart twisted with every step he took toward the edge of the rooftop, but he forced himself to push those feelings aside. He had a job to do.
Without a word, he leapt off the building, his webs shooting out to carry him back into the fray. The cityâs chaos blurred around him as his mind honed in on one goal: taking down Green Goblin and ensuring no one else got hurt tonight.
Meanwhile, Wooyoung guided you carefully through the streets, his arm wrapped protectively around your shoulders as you trembled against him. Your apartment wasnât far, but every noiseâa car horn, a distant shoutâmade your body tense, your mind flashing back to the terrifying moments from earlier.
âItâs okay,â Wooyoung reassured you, his voice soft but steady. âWeâre almost there. Youâre safe now.â
You swallowed hard, your throat tight as the weight of everything pressed down on you. Your legs felt like jelly, barely able to keep up with Wooyoungâs steady pace as he guided you toward your apartment. The revelation that San was Spider-Man played on a loop in your mind, intertwining with the terrifying memory of being in Green Goblinâs grasp.
Your fingers gripped the fabric of Wooyoungâs jacket like a lifeline. The warmth of his presence grounded you, but your thoughts were anything but steady. How long has he been Spider-Man? Why didnât he tell me? Questions swirled like a storm in your head, each one heavier than the last.
Wooyoung glanced down at you, concern etched into his face. âYouâre shaking,â he murmured, stopping for a moment to steady you. âY/N, youâve been through hell tonight. Itâs okay to feel overwhelmed.â
You blinked at him, your lips parting as if to respond, but no words came out. Instead, a tear slipped down your cheek, followed by another, until you were trembling in his grasp.
âI-I donât even know what to think,â you choked out finally, your voice barely a whisper. âHe⌠he kept this from me. All this time. And I almostââ Your words broke off as a sob escaped your lips.
Wooyoungâs grip tightened, his expression softening as he pulled you into a hug. âI know,â he said quietly, his voice steady and calm. âI know it feels like the world just got turned upside down. And I canât pretend to know how you feel, but Iâm here. Okay? Youâre not alone in this.â
You clung to him, burying your face in his shoulder as you let the tears fall. The dam had broken, and everything youâd been holding inâfear, anger, betrayal, confusionâspilled out in messy waves.

I don't want your sorrys, I want you safe
Genre: Angst/Mafia AU
Pairing: Mafia! Wooyoung x reader
Word Count: 900
Warnings: I'm sorry in advance <3
Summary: Wooyoung acts careless about his life in the mafia, and the way it affects your lives finally breaks you. All you want is for him to be safe.
12am. He was late again. No text. No calls. No details where he was going. Just you sitting in the couch waiting for him to come home. It drove you crazy, it's been over a year now and you had hoped it would get better. Either he wouldnât be gone for so long, or maybe youâd get used to him being away.
But it never got easier. And you knew deep down it never would. When you finally heard the doorknob click you grabbed the gun, just like he taught you. Checking the cameras he had hooked up to the monitor, you saw his silhouette, his eyes you loved so much looking right into the camera.
You knocked on the door back, in the same beat he taught you to make sure he wasnât being held at gun point on the other side. His safe knock returned, and releasing the breath you held you dropped the gun and opened the door.
He smiled upon seeing you, but it was hard for you to smile back when you saw his busted lip. It wasnât bad, but it was enough to remind you of how much blood heâs already lost in this lifestyle. How blood heâs taken from others too.
âYou okay baby?â he asked.
You folded your arms over your chest and shrugged.
âAre you okay?â you asked quietly, avoiding his eyes and question . You didnât want to cry, not again.
He nodded, tilting his head to meet your gaze.
âBaby whats wrong,â he asked gently, then his demeanor changed. âDid something happen? Did someone come here?â he asked quickly, looking around the apartment and pulling out his own gun.
âNothing happened, nothing happened,â you assured him, putting your hands on his chest.
âIts just,â you started, before shaking your head. âI donât want to get into right now. Im tired, youâre hurt. Let's just wash up and go to bed.â
Wooyoung grabbed your hand before you could walk away.
âBaby, please donât do this,â he pleaded. âTell me whats wrong.â
You turned around and sighed. You really didnât want to do this right now.
âIâm fine, Iâm just tired,â you said flatly.
âY/N come on,â he started, but you put your hand up to stop him.
âIâm not doing this tonight I just want to go to bed.â
You started walking away again and he threw his bag off his shoulder.
âY/N what the hell, I just got back, and youâre already pissed?â
You shook your head and put your hand up again. You really did not want to do this right now.
But he was insistent. He took his jacket off and made his way to you, following you to the room.
âAre you seriously not going to talk to me? Youâre just going to stay mad at me for no apparent reason?â
âIm not mad at you, Im mad at the situation.â
âWhat situation?â he asked, his irritation only fueling the fire within you.
âEvery fucking night youâre gone for hours, hell sometimes you donât come back until the next day!â
Wooyoung froze, clearly not expecting an outburst. You felt bad, but he pushed you into it. He dragged you into this lifestyle.
âI sit here, and i wait for you, never able to tell if youâre coming home okay or even alive. Do you know how fucking terrifying it is when Jongho comes here while youâre gone? Every-time Im expecting him to tell me you died.â
âY/N, I told you i had a dangerous life before we got together, you said you were fine with it!â
âNo, I said I loved you! I said I wanted to be with you anyways, Ive never been âfineâ without you here, worrying about you. Fuck even when youâre here Iâm worried! At any second some piece of shit youâve fucked with could show up and kill us both!â
Wooyoung took your hands in his.
âListen to me, none of that is going to happen. Im careful, and Im really fucking good at what i do. Mingiâs been shot more times than anyone, and heâs fine!â
You push him away
âYou donât get it, itâs the fact i know one day one of those shots could he your last. You donât have to do this; I work and if you got a normal job weâd be fine!â
âYou know damn well i can't do that,â he said sternly. âIâve busted my ass off to make you feel safe, what more do you want from me?â
âI want you safe! I want you to be safe with me and away from all of this!â
âYou know I can't just stay with you all the time! I have shit I need to do!â
âNo, what this all comes down to is that you have a big ego.â
His phone rang. You both paused and waited.
âAnswer it.â you said harshly. âAnswer and prove me right, that you only give a shit about your reputation with your gang.â
Wooyoung said nothing. He took his phone out and answered it, turning his back to you.
âWhat is it-â
Sans voice cut him off.
âWoo get the fuck out of there right now they tracked you and-â
Before either of you had a chance to react, an explosion erupted through the apartment. You were thrown away from Wooyoung, hitting the wall as debris fell on top of you.
You saw a group of men run through the door before you blacked out, calling Wooyoungâs name weakly.

The light from the sun bouncing off the rock hallways started to fade as the moon rose. The dripping from the ceiling had stopped, and monsters and humans started filling the tavern. It was supposed to be very busy tonight.
The tavern was underground, just below the surface life. Dartboards hung across the walls on various barrels. Small candles were lit beside them, either hanging from the ceiling or resting on uniquely carved tables. Carpets were strung across the floor, filled with old designs and symbols that the humans didn't understand, and the monsters refused to explain.
The bar itself looked like any other bar, but the counters were carved into the rocks and the drinks were stored within the earth. The tables were made from woven branches, and the chairs were also made from scattered parts of trees that were no longer needed elsewhere.
You weren't much for drinking. You had only come to the bar to talk with your friend, Shiro. Shiro ran the place during slow hours. Now that the night rush was coming, his co-workers came in to help him run the shift. He wouldn't have much time to talk anymore.
You started to pack your computer, flinging your bag over your shoulder. Shiro had told you of the many tales and tragedies that happen during the night rush, and you didn't want to stick around to become one of them.
"Leaving so soon?" Shiro asked as he wiped the table where you just sat. His baggy white hair fell over his face, and he smiled softly.
"You know how I am with crowds," you responded, hoping he would get the hint.
He didn't. "Well, surely it shouldn't be that busy tonight-"
He was cut off as three skeletons walked down the entrance stairs. It was apparent that they were some sort of gang, as they all wore the same-colored jacket, pants, and shoes. Each of them stood proudly as everyone went silent.
The tallest one had a large hole in his head, and his left eye was huge. It glowed red and barely made any movement when he looked around. He hunched over and had a large ax on his back. He never stopped smiling, which left an unhinged feeling in everyone who saw it.
The shortest one wore a hood over his head. His eyes glowed red, and one of them had a purple and blue tint to it. Unlike his tall counterpart, he never smiled. He glared at everyone who even dared to look at him. Monster ash covered his clothes, sparking fear in all who noticed.
The third one seemed the most normal of the group. His smile was contagious, and his extroverted personality always drew attention to him. Big black stripes dripped from his void eyes down to his neck. His coat was fluffier than the rest, and his soul wasn't hidden. It hung in front of his chest like a big red target. He twirled a knife in his hand before resting it by his side.
The Murder Time Trio, you recalled. You recognized each of their faces from wanted posters across the town. Working under Nightmare, they worked to harvest negativity.
The Star Sanses - rulers of this AU amongst many others - wanted to bring them to justice, but with all of the Sanses abilities to travel alternate universes, they were hard to track down.
You couldn't buy into the fact there were other worlds than your own. The only reason you believed it was the evidence before you; multiple versions of the same person taking different paths.
Shiro glanced over as the tavern filled with noise and music again. He rolled his eyes, grabbing a notepad and pen before walking over to the table they sat at.
The dart games began. Multiple people threw darts across the room to the targets. According to Shiro, this was how all the drama started. Someone would think a shot was unfair, and a fight would break out.
Deciding it wasn't the best idea to stay any longer, you weave through the crowd of monsters and humans trying to get to the bar to drink. You glanced at the table where the trio sat as they talked with Shiro. You pray they don't do anything to your friend.
As you stood between the dart targets, waiting for the round to be over, you eavesdrop on Shiro's conversation. He seemed bored, surprisingly.
"I'll have a margarita," the striped face one said.
"A big beer, please," Horror lowered his head.
"Think you can handle one of those again, Horror?" The striped face asked.
Horror didn't answer him. He waved his hand in dismissal to Shiro as he looked at the menu.
"I see," Shiro scribbled down the orders on his paper. "And for you, Dust?"
"Nothing," the hooded skeleton replied. "Someone has to be sober when Killer isn't."
"Hey, I would do just fine," Killer smirked. "I don't see you..."
The conversation faded out of hearing as shouts echoed across the tavern. Glancing behind you, you see a human and a monster arguing about who hit the target first as they shot their darts at the same time. The shouts almost frightened you, and you didn't think before stepping forward. Your goal was to get away from the chaos before more violence broke out. Maybe you shouldn't have come here, maybe it was a bad idea after all.
A dart flew towards your face.
You didn't have time to react before you were pulled off your feet, resting in the mercy of someone's arms as he caught the dart. "Woah darling, careful there," he sighed, his head turning toward the people who threw it.
You realize the man, or the skeleton that saved your head was Killer. His grip was firm around your waist from when he had pulled you away from the weapon. He dropped the dart and continued to glare at the monster that had thrown it.
The people playing the particular dart game went dead silent, all pointing to the person who threw the dart. He didn't seem to care. "Oh, come on, she walked in front of it! It's not my fault!"
"Pay attention to your surroundings more, mm?" Killer smirked, tilting his head. He turned towards you before the others could reply. "You too, cutie," he smirked, poking your nose. "Gotta be careful in places like these~"
His grip on your waist loosened as you backed up. A blush painted your face as you stared up at him. As your blush increased, so did his smile, making you blush more. The blood rushed to your face as you tried to cover your cheeks with your favorite-colored scarf.
"Do you seriously have to flirt with everyone you see, Killer?" Dust snapped, opening a deck of cards and flushing them across the table.
"Look at them, they're pretty!" Killer replied. "I didn't want them to get scratched by a silly dart!"
"Then they shouldn't be in a place like this," Horror rolled his eyes, glancing at the deck of cards Dust had started dealing.
Instant guilt washed over you. You didn't mean to cause any trouble, and Shiro was nowhere in sight to defend you. You gesture to Killer, thanking him for saving you before telling him you'll leave to not cause any more trouble.
Killer looked you up and down, smiling as his eyes made their way back to your face. "What's your name, Hun?" He smirks slyly.
You tell him your name, scratching your head in the process. One of the most wanted men in the multiverse was talking to you. In fact, he smiled when he looked at you. How could this be?
"Y/N, what a beautiful name," Killer takes a step closer to you, extending his hand. "You plan to get on out of here? I can make sure you get home safely."
You open your mouth to accept the offer but hesitate. He, along with his friends, were mass killers. It was obvious by the dust and blood across their clothes. Was he going to kill you? You had no idea.
If he was, then why would he go out of his way to pull you away from an incoming dart?
"Killer, you play or not?" Horror asked, interrupting your thoughts.
"Not now," Killer didn't take his eyes off you. "I wish to walk this lovely human home."
"Oh, can I come?" Horror smirked, his hand reaching for his ax.
Dust slapped his hand. "Not that kind of walk home," Dust rolled his eyes. "Look at him! His soul his turning into a heart! Pathetic, really."
Dust wasn't lying. Killer's soul had taken the form of an upside-down heart momentarily. You tilt your head in curiosity, surely that was a good sign.
"Hey!" The monster that had thrown the dart earlier shouted. "You broke my dart with your disgusting fingers!"
Killer raised his eyebrows as he shrugged. "Oops."
"That dart cost me hundreds of G!" He growled. "You're gonna pay for that!"
You felt Killer's hands run along your shoulders. "Time to go~" he whispered behind you.
As the monster tumbled near, he suddenly faded from sight. Everything vaporized into stripes as the underground tavern disappeared and was quickly replaced with the cool breeze of the surface.
The moon glimmered in the sky next to the stars as it shined down on the slightly paved street. There were no streetlights, but you could see the village in the distance. Fireflies glittered the sky along with the stars. There were a few trees and a river to cross, and the bridge over the river linked the road.

"Whew, that was close," Killer chuckled, letting go of you. He walked over to your side and smirked down at you. "Don't worry, he won't catch us now."
"Thank you," you sighed with a smile before walking toward the village.
Killer started to follow you. "Hey, I know we like, just met, right? This is a little crazy," he glanced down at the ground as he caught up to you. His hands were shoved in his pockets, and he couldn't stop smiling. "But can I get your number?"
You widened your eyes, surprised. He really wanted your number after two minutes. Surely that couldn't be... This couldn't be happening, right? Wasn't that a red flag of some sort, and you, out of all people? You didn't see why someone as famous and as brave as him would pay attention-
You snapped back into reality, realizing that you had given him your phone, and he was already punching in his own number.
"Thanks, doll," Killer smiled to himself. "I didn't expect you to actually say yes. I'll fulfill my promise; let's get you home safely."
How the- you paused, unable to comprehend what just happened.
Despite the darkness and eerie noises surrounding you, you felt at peace. You couldn't help but wonder if that was because a skilled killer was by your side, ready to defend you if anything came your way. He made that clear with his actions at the tavern.
It didn't take long for Killer to start a conversation. He asked many questions and answered any questions you had. He often would laugh, smile, and tease you in such a way that made the butterflies in your stomach squirm. He was very charming, flirtatious, and unique. You couldn't recall if you met anyone like him.
And you liked that.
He was so different from everyone else that you had met, treated you well, and it was so easy to be yourself around him. He brought out a side of you that you thought died a long time ago. That side that made you feel... wild and free.
"Look look look," Killer begged, running off the path toward a lake. He picked up a rock and threw it across the water's surface. It must have skipped a hundred times before it plunged into the depths below. He picked up another one and did the same thing. "It's perfect water to skip the rocks on!"
You join his side and sit on a boulder nearby, watching him skip rocks as he continues to tell you about the first time won a card game, which you learned wasn't very often due to Dust having a special connection with cards.
"The look on his face when I won, hah! Priceless! Should've known better to have challenged me!"
You asked him if he had won the next two games after that.
"Uh, no, but that's not the point silly!" He smiled, heaving a great sigh as he looked up at the stars. He closed his eyes, letting the wind blow across his face as the ripples on the lake settled. The moon complimented his face and made him seem so peaceful and innocent. It highlighted his chest and showed the two small eyes that he had hidden within his skull.
You commented how he looks great in the moonlight. When he asked you how so, you got up and pointed out the various places the moonlight shined on him, and how it made him look so handsome.
"Tch, you're sweet," Killer snickered, brushing the hair out of your face. "But the moonlight on me is better on you."
Before you could recover from the sudden blush, he continued. "Have you ever skipped a stone across the water?"
As you shook your head, Killer frowned. He turned you around to face the lake and picked a stone up from the ground, admiring it in the moonlight. "Here, I'll teach you darling." He placed the stone in your hand and gestured that you try.
You tossed the rock into the water, it sunk in front of you.
"Heh, not like that." Killer came up from behind you and grabbed your wrists gently. "Here, let me guide you."
For the next thirty minutes, Killer moved your wrists in the correct motion. He gave tips on what to do with your fingers when you release the rock. You would have gotten it much sooner if you weren't so distracted by his sweet breath brushing against your cheek.
As you threw your hundredth stone, it skipped across the water more times than you can count. Joy filled your face, and your smile only increased when you heard Killer congratulate you.
"That was awesome!" He gleamed, running his hand along his skull. He quickly picked up a stone and skipped it across the water to catch up with yours. "Fast learner, eh?"
Before you could reply, Killer came up to you and embraced you. His hug was so snug, you felt safe in his arms. You wrap your arms around his back as the tension in your body flees. He was so warm, and he held you so tight... you didn't want to leave his arms.
Alas, it didn't last for long. Killer smiled and took your hand, guiding you up back to the path. "Alright, it's best I get you home, cutie," he smiled slyly. "The boys are probably wondering where I am."
You were closer to your home than you thought, to your dismay. Killer stood close to you, putting his hood over his skull to hide his face from the town as they turned down the street to your house. You almost had forgotten that he was a wanted killer with how enjoyable your time was with him. Surely, he wasn't all everyone said he was... he was so nice to you.
"Lovely house you have, I'll have to visit you sometime," Killer commented, smiling his usual charming smile as you approached the door. "Y/N, it was fun getting to know you, I'll call ya, alright? You're too pretty to say goodbye to, anyway."
You invited him to stay and watch a movie, but he declined.
"Nah, I'm sure Dust and Horror would be suspicious... besides, I cannot stay in the town for long unless I want Nightmare mad..." He took a few steps toward you until he was inches away from your face. He continued to smile as he took your hand. "However," he paused. He lifted your hand up to his face and kissed it gently. Once he met your eyes again, he smirked softly again. "I'm sure I could make an exception for you another night."
You didn't know how much more of his teasing you could take as your face turned red. You held your hand as if it was made of diamonds.
"Heh, you're so cute," Killer backed up into the street. "See ya later, Y/N."
You barely waved in time before he vanished from sight.
You couldn't stop thinking about him for the rest of the night. He treated you kindly, and his jokes were so funny... you longed for his company, despite his reputation. How long had it been since the tavern? A couple of hours? Were all monsters like this? Maybe there was a special thing about monsters where you grew attached quicker than another human. As if they understood the value of another living being and had a way to make another feel at ease around them. You tried to figure it out as you winded down for the night.
Maybe they were masters at this feeling that you felt: love.
Or maybe Killer was just special like that.
