Khmer Nyttår hele uka til endes

Denne uka feirer Kambodsja Khmer Nyttår, Choul Chnam Thmey. Dette er det samme som Buddhistisk nyttår, og har mange navn. Både lokalt, og i regionen. Mest kjent er gjerne Sankran, etter Moha Sankranta, som har røtter tilbake til hinduistisk Sankranta-feiring.

Allerede de gamle khmerene

I khmer-riket foregikk denne nyttårsfeiringen allerede på 1100-tallet. En inskripsjon i Ta Prohm-tempelet forteller at Kong Jayavarman VII den Store foreskrev at Sankranta var å feire årlig i hele riket. Ta Prohm er tempelet som også kalles "Tomb Raider"-tempelet.

Feiringen faller sammen med nyttårsfeiring i store deler av buddhistisk Sør- og Sørøst Asia. Fra Nepal og India til Laos og Thailand. Thailands vannfestival Sonkran er også endel av den samme nyttårsfeiringstradisjonen, og har røtter tilbake til khmer-imperiet Siam vokste ut fra.

Nyttårsaften

I 2023 faller 1. nyttårsdag på 14. april. Festen varer i tre dager, men aktivitetene knyttet til denne feiringen betyr som regel at Kambodsja feirer nyttår ei ukes tid, inkludert lørdag og søndag i hver ende.

Feiringen følger det sideriske solåret, og faller stort på de samme datoene i hvert år. Dette gjelder også for det tropiske solåret som brukes i den romersk baserte internasjonale kalenderen. Når det justeres for lengdeforskjellen mellom tropisk år og siderisk år, og den gregorianske skuddårsjusteringen er lagt til, er det snakk om en dato fram og tilbake, år om annet.

Tidagers nyttår

Feiringen starter gjerne med semesteravslutning for de fleste skolene og universitetene uka før nyttårsdagene. Nyttårsaften markeres med vennelag, men den egentlige feiringen starter 1. nyttårsdag, Moha Sankranta-dagen.

Moha Sangkranta betyr offer av lys og røkelse i templene i takknemlighet for Buddhas lære. Det foregår en rituell vask av ansikt, bryst og føtter morgen, middag og kveld som lykkehandling for det nye året.

Andre nyttårsdag, Veareak Vanabat, er dagen for å hjelpe ressursvake og bidra med gaver og donasjoner. Familliene ærer sine forgjengere gjennom forbønn i templene.

Tredje nyttårsdag, Veareak Laeung Sak, er dagen for rituell vask og rengjøring av buddha-staturer og de eldste i familien med parfymert vann. Symbolismen er å la gale, ondskapsfulle eller tåpelige handlinger bli igjen i året som var, og starte på ny frisk. Det er også en ydmyk handling som skal gi lykke, helse, rikdom og et godt liv, med velsignelser og gode råd fra familiens eldste og deres erfaringer.

Vannfestival

I tillegg til bestemte riter i familien og i tempelet for hver dag i nyttårsfeiringen, er dette en sammenhengende periode med familie- og vennesamlinger, mye god mat og drikke, samt aktiviteter som dreier seg om båt og vann.

Det inkluderer vanndynking, vannspruting og dryss av talkum. Etter noen pandemi-år hvor dette ikke var tillatt, er det store foventninger i år. Det er ventet at salget av alt som kan frakte og avsende vann i store mengder, fra vannpistoler og vanngevær til bøtter og små badekar vil gå til himmels.

Langs elvene som går gjennom de fleste byene og landsbyene i landet er det også et sabla båtliv, fra passasjerbåter til mindre prammer for krysse eller punte litt rundt.

2023: Starten på noe stort

I ordinære år er Sankran en stor turistattraksjon og en god mulighet til å komme nær innpå de mer uformelle sidene av hverdagslivet til khmerene.

I 2023 er det lagt opp til en gigantisk feiring i de fleste byene. Det er første store folkefest uten store pandemirestriksjoner, så det er mye å ta igjen. Blant markeringene er verdensrekord i origami-papirhjerter rundt Angkor Wat. Totalt 3,917,805 papirhjerter blei godkjent av Guiness Rekordbok.

Kaninåret

Blant andre elementer som også gjelder, er skifte av år etter Buddhistisk tradisjon. Dette har nullpunkt etter religionsstifterens antatte dødsår i 544 FVT. År 2023 etter den europeiske kalenderen er 2567 BE (Buddhist Era). BE-året brukes bare i samband med religiøse seremonier i Kambodsja, mens det er paralellsystem hos naboene i Thailand.

I tillegg skiftes zodiak-dyr etter kinesisk tradisjon, og tigeren byttes ut med kaninens år. Dyretegnet symboliserer håp, utholdenhet, fred og velstand. Veloverveide beslutninger har forrang foran raske og høyt risikable handlinger, er budskapet fra denne type dyreassisiasjoner.

संक्रांति से जुड़ी पौराणिक कथा /Mythology Related To Sankranti

पौराणिक कथा के अनुसार, मकर संक्रांति के दिन भगवान विष्णु ने पृथ्वी लोक पर असुरों का संहार कर उनके सिरों को काटकर मंदरा पर्वत पर फेंका था। लिहाजा भगवान की जीत को मकर संक्रांति के रूप में मनाया जाने लगा। मकर संक्रांति के दिन से ही ऋतु परिवर्तन होने लगता है। इस दिन से शरद ऋतु का प्रभाव कम होने लगता है और बसंत का आगमन हो जाता है। इसके बाद दिन लंबे और रात छोटी होने लगती है। धार्मिक मान्यताओं के अनुसार मकर संक्रांति के दिन सूर्यदेव अपने पुत्र शनिदेव के घर जाते हैं। पिता माना जाता है इससे पुत्र के बीच प्रेम बढ़ता है। ऐसे में भगवान सूर्य और शनि की अराधना शुभ फलदायी होती है। मान्यता है कि मकर संक्रांति के दिन इनमें से किसी एक मंत्र के जाप से भक्तों में तेज और ओज की वृद्धि होती है। उन पर भगवान सूर्य की कृपा होती है और सूर्य देव का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त होता है।

Makar Sankranti Puja Method / मकर संक्रांति पूजा विधि

मकर संक्रांति के दिन प्रातः काल शुभ मुहूर्त में स्नान आदि कर लें। यदि स्नान करने वाले पानी में काला तिल, थोड़ा सा गुड़ और गंगाजल मिला लें तो उत्तम होगा। स्नान के बाद साफ-सुथरा वस्त्र धारण कर तांबे के लोटे में जल लें। इसमें काला तिल, गुड़, लाल चंदन, लाल पुष्प, अक्षत् आदि मिला कर सूर्य को अर्पित करते हुए अर्घ्य दें और अर्घ्य देते समय सूर्य मंत्र का जाप करें।

थाई पोंगल/पोंगल

तमिलनाडु में मनाया जाने वाला थाई पोंगल, भगवान इंद्र को श्रद्धांजलि देने के लिए चार दिनों के उत्सव के रुप में मनाया जाता है। यह दिन भगवान इंद्र को भरपूर बारिश के लिए आभार मानने का एक माध्यम है। इसलिए उपजाऊ भूमि और अच्छी उपज की कामना स्वरुप यह मनाई जाती हैं।

थाई पोंगल के दूसरे दिन, ताजा पका हुआ चावल दूध में उबाला जाता है और इसे भगवान सूर्य को प्रसाद स्वरुप अर्पित किया जाता है। तीसरे दिन, मट्टू पोंगल ‘बसवा’- भगवान शिव के बैल को घंटियों, फूलों की माला, और पेंट के साथ सजाकर पूजन किया जाता है। पोंगल के चौथे दिन, कन्नुम पोंगल मनाया जाता है जिसमें घर की सभी महिलाएँ एक साथ विभिन्न प्रकार के धार्मिक अनुष्ठान करती हैं।

Thai Pongal / Pongal

वैशाखी

मकर संक्रांति को “बैसाखी” पर्व भी कहा जाता है, पंजाब में यह बहुत उल्लास के साथ मनाया जाने वाला एक फसल त्यौहार है। यह बसंत ऋतु के अनुरूप पंजाबी नववर्ष को भी चिह्नित करता है। इसी दिन, दसवें  सिख गुरु गोविंद सिंह ने खालसा पंथ की स्थापना की थी। सिख इस त्योहार को सामूहिक जन्मदिवस के रूप में मनाते हैं।

Baisakhi

The PHOTOSERIES is about the Sangrai Festival happens on Chitmorom, Kaptai.

The meaning of 'Sangrai' is 'Year Changes' in English. Bangladeshi Marma and Rakhine groups celebrate this day as one of the main festivals of them. The calendar of the Marmas is called "Mraima Sakraoy". The Marmaras observe Sangrai as a total of three days, including the last two days of the old year and the first day of the new year.

Sangrai actually means saying goodbye to a year and welcoming a new one. Traditionally the 'Jhum' farming session also begins with this calendar opening. Marmas also do not get married after the 'Maghi Full Moon' until Sangrai. Which portrays Sangrai as a new beginning by throwing away all old things.

The festival continues for three days. On the very first day, people cleans their house premises and decorate with flowers. According to Marma belief, the Sangrai goddess comes on earth on this day. People also go to 'Bihar' on this day to praise Buddha.The second and third day includes traditional sports, cultural programmes and water festival.

The main attraction of Sangrai is the water sport called Marmara "Ri Long Poye". This water sports festival is held on the last day of Sangrai festival. Sangrai water sports are performed not only by the Marmas, but also by the Dai tribes of Southeast Asia, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and China in mid-April. In Myanmar, such events are called "Thingon" and in Thailand and Laos this ceremony is called "Sankran". To perform the ritual, people wish for a prosperous and trouble free year ahead.

The festival has catered some modern day entertainment like concerts also nowadays. It’s all about celebration and welcoming a new year with the expectations and prayers for good things.

Andre nyttårsdag, gaver, råd og mer vann

Andre nyttårsdag, Veareak Vanabat, er en ny viktig dag i khmer nyttårsfeiring. Denne dagen er viet gaver og oppmerksomhet til familiens eldste og de mindre heldig slektninger. Men også de som sliter, er fattige, alvorlig sjuke og forøvrig trenger hjelp.

Både rein veldedighet og invitasjon til festligheter er vanlig denne dagen. Mye veldedighet går via de forskjellige templene og buddhistklostrene. Det foregår også bønn og minneriter for avdøde forfedre. Gode råd for året som kommer er gjerne retur fra de eldre slektningene og munkene.

I de aller fleste hjem er det tablåer av offer satt fram allerede fra nyttårsaften. De består av mat, kaker, drikke, blomster og sesongpynt. Dette brukes av enkelte som gaver denne andredagen.

Fridag og familiemoro

Dette er også den første store fri- og familedagen. Så handelsbodene langs etter populære parkstrekk og elvestrekk har nok å gjøre. I tillegg er det konserter, danseoppvisninger og båtturer på elvene.

I år er det også ventet storinnrykk i Angkor Park i Siem Reap. Opplegget der er mer omfattende enn på lenge. Et opplegg som involverer en enorm utstilling av nær fire millioner origami papirhjerter betyr mye besøk og fotografering av venner og familie.

Målet er både å markere nye tider, at pandemien i Kambodsja i praksis er over, og markedsføre at nyttårsfeiring i Kambodsja er en turistreise verdt. En type markedsføring av at khmer Sankran er eldre enn og opphavet til mer kjente Sonkran i Thailand.

Vann, noe moderert

Rundt om i by og landsby fortsetter vannspruting og talkumdryss, og store og små uoffisielle vannslag. Det betyr at små grupper laster opp en liten pickup eller lastebil med folk, vann og bøtter og vanngeværer. Og drar avgårde til utvalgte naboer, eller andre biler. Ellers henger færre grupper enn første nyttårsdag ute langs veiene, men de som er igjen er mer enn godt nok istand til å gjøre sjøl korte turer en gjennomvåt affære, med hvitt dryss.

Og hos familier, butikker, utesteder og forskjellige ovvernattingssteder fortsetter festen med mat og store mengder drikke. Og høy musikk og dans.

Auditors to face the music for IL&FS mess

Latest Updates - CA Mitesh MUMBAI: The NCLT has given a go-ahead to government to prosecute Deloitte and BSR Associates for their failure to detect and report the scams that took place across the now bankrupt IL&FS group and 21 other entities, when they were the auditors of IL&FS Financial Services.The NCLT in an order posted on its website on Thursday said the corporate affairs ministry can go ahead with prosecution based on the findings of the probe conducted by the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO).But the posting does not mention its views on the government demand to ban these two auditors for five years from business, though.The tribunal also allowed to the government plea to implead Udayan Sen, a partners of Deloitte, and BSR Associates partners Kalpesh Mehta and Sampath Ganesh.Both these auditing companies any longer work with the group of the company, though.The tribunal allowed prosecution of C Sivasankaran and his group as the probe has revealed that management of IFIN abused their position by giving loans to the Siva group as some group companies failed to repay the earlier loans granted to them by IFIN.Investigation also revealed Sivasankaran had personal relationship with Ravi Parthsarthy and Hari Sankran, the former chairman and the former vice-chairman of IL&FS Group.Further, the tribunal also asked the corporate affairs ministry to implead Surinder Singh Kohli and Subhalakshmi Panse who were independent directors of IFIN and were part of the audit committee, but asked the government not to prosecute them the SFIO probe did not name them."Therefore, their prosecution is not justified at this stage but both Kohil and Panse, can be impleded as they were independent directors and were thus part of the audit committee," the tribunal said.According to the SFIO complaint it was alleged that the auditors were aware that IFIN was lending to defaulting borrowers through group companies hence suppressing its non- performing assets and not provide for the bad debt.Moreover, SFIO report said, auditors failed to verify the end-use of bank loans and money raised via NCDs despite it being a regulatory mandate for verifying such things.The SFIO report has found that the audit committee members colluded with the management and overlooked many impairment indicators in contravention of the accounting standards and principles of prudence.In case of Panse and Kohli, the investigations revealed they were aware of the NPAs of the company and also knew that loans were being granted to group companies of existing defaulting borrowers in order to prevent them being classified as NPA.
