@dragonkcn
Some of Bina's colleagues at the farm feel the need to talk, filling in the space around her silences. One of them has been convinced, for weeks now, that going to a bar would loosen her up. Bina's not convinced she needs loosening up, but she has ended up in a bar anyway, having finished the workday by making a delivery of potable water to it, so she guesses she might as well try the loosening up thing.
It doesn't work very well, though, because being surrounded by so many people fills her with dread and anxiety. Her hair is reacting and she's too nervous to do much about it, but a long and anxious lock twitches out like a cat's lashing tail and knocks a woman's wine glass over, shattering. Bina's eyes go wide, and she covers her mouth, looking first at the woman and then at the spilled wine. She knows she should say something-- apologise, offer to buy her a new drink-- but words have fled her and she just stares mutely. If she wasn't stressed enough, the woman's cold beauty is overwhelming: for a moment Bina wonders if that's how people feel when they regard her, struck by the mesmerising presence: a desire to do anything to make this person happy.

its so interesting to think about how when we are first introduced to yoo sangah she contrasts kim dokja in every way - she's a hard worker, an ideal woman, a perfect protagonist, all opposites of how kim dokja percieves himself as a passive person, a failure of a man, a useless reader. but then kim dokja leaves the company for three years and she steps into his role as both leader and sacrificial lamb. theres an insecurity haunting her from the early days of the apocalypse that makes her want to be useful, and if it comes at the cost of her wellbeing or life it's a trade she's alarmingly happy to make - not a mindset we at all associate with the woman we first meet on the train, but one we find familiar from our time spent in kim dokja's head. once again we learn that that line kim dokja drew between them was false, and yoo sangah was always more like him than he could have ever thought.

Sometimes family is you, your coworker, 3 kids you grabbed from the side of the road, a bartender, an ex soldier, a plagiarist, a guy that wants you dead, his sister, ex girlfriend, and two stupid teens that follow him around, your landlord, your ex boss and his daughter, a fujoshi angel, a monkey, a dragon, a coorporate slave, and your daughter.
