I know that a lot of people are saying that the next Endless-meets-a-Dead-Boy-Detective moment should be between Desire and Charles because Repressed Bisexual Yearning, but consider:

So if anyone wonders why I'm not as active at the moment: It's because I'm cooking up a Dreamling Library AU! And I come bringing gifts. Have a small snippet:

The same second Dream marches through the heavy fire-resistant door of the stacks Hob feels the anger spark in his gut again. The memory of the library staff meeting he'd sat through at noon still stings like a fresh bruise, Dream’s arrogant face and words and gestures flooding back to the forefront of Hob’s mind.

The only reason he refrains from polishing Dream’s face with his fist is that they are colleagues, and the fact that civilised people fight with words rather than their hands. Hob has very elaborate daydreams about doing a significant number of uncivilised things to Dream, not all of them strictly violent.

That’s the other thing infuriating Hob beyond measure, that his body has a very different opinion on his stuck-up colleague than his brain. It currently has a keen interest in how good Dr. Olympiou’s arse looks in his slacks. Hob’s mind reels from the whiplash.

Imagine Dream and you watching a scary movie and you being terrified even though you know it's not real. Dream comforts you by holding you close and snuggling with you.

Why?

Why did you think this was a good idea?

You thought you would step out of your comfort zone and watch a scary movie, one everyone recommended and praised about.

However, your body was on high alert. You clutched a decorative pillow from your couch tight to your chest. It was your only comfort. You wanted to tear your eyes away from the unfolding scene, but you couldn’t. You had to know what happens, despite the fear you were slowly choking on.

When a rather intense scene popped up, you whipped your head away wincing. A whimper almost bubbles out of you.

Dream peered over at you. While you were curled into a ball, clutching a pillow with wide eyes, Dream was sitting comfortably unbothered.

His heart broke at the sight.

Dream spoke softly, “Come here, my dear.”

He didn’t wait for your answer. He immediately wrapped his arms over your shoulders, drawing you towards him. Dropping the pillow, you fell into him and nuzzled your face into his chest.

“I feel so stupid,” you muttered quietly. “It’s just a dumb movie.”

He rubbed your back. “A movie whose purpose is to frighten you, so no it is not stupid.”

You grumbled.

A loud bang followed by a scream made you jump. Your whole body tensed up frozen in fear.

Dream tightened his arms around you, whispering, “It’s okay, I would never let anything harm you.”

You exhaled slowly, trying to calm yourself.

“Here.” Dream waved his hand, shutting off the tv. “Now, nothing should scare you.”

“… thanks.”

He kissed the top of your head. “Shall I put on a different movie? Something more lighthearted?”

“No, this is fine.”

“Perhaps, I can tell you a story instead.”

A smile tugged on your lips. “Please?”

“Of course.”

Taking a deep breath, his hypnotic voice wrapped around you. He trailed his finger along your back drawing shapes as you completely relaxed into him. He instantly weaved a story of adventure and most of all of love.

And in seconds, you were fast asleep.

Dream smiled. No nightmares will bother you. Only sweet dreams for his sweet mortal.

i love how comics dream always looks like he just woke up from a good nap and has no clue what day or time it is

Season 1 Ep 5 of The Sandman, 24/7 is nothing short of an epic masterpiece emotionally. From beginning to end, it is filled to the brim with perfectly tuned tension. Tension just permeates the air in almost every single moment of that episode. The acting was phenomenal, and the characters portrayed a wide range of subtle emotion, simmering rage, fear, social discomfort, envy, lust. There’s this pervasive, sustained, violin note of tension in the form of a constant when is the other shoe going to drop feeling about the whole thing. I’m not sure I’ve seen a better example of that since Alien in 1979.
