I love the abo dynamic of alphas jeonghyo with omega nayeon, but also, alphas 2yeon with omega jihyo is also such a cute dynamic, jihyo being the main braincell of the group and the one that keeps the alphas grounded, 2yeon having little dumb competitions in the name of Jihyos attention

My all time favourite abo dynamic is Alpha Sana and omega MiMo or alphas samo with omega Mina (probably bcs they're my 2 favourite ships, sad there isn't much about them, Misana specifically, it's such a soft ship) Mina is undoubtedly J lines baby, they're love caring for her and you can see they're very protective of her, but Sana also treats Momo like she's her baby (that one live where Sana called herself mommy 👀)

In conclusion, MiMo are Sanas pretty Babies, and Alpha Sana certainly doesn't mind caring for two needy omegas (territorial alpha Sana is a very good thought)

i looove omega jihyo and alphas 2yeon! i think the difference between these concepts is that omega jihyo would be babied more often, whereas in alphas jeonghyo with omega nayeon, jeonghyo would be babied the most by nayeon 😭 but the bossy omega jihyo who's always the target of 2yeon's antics is really appealing!

but i thought misana was one of the most popular ones? i don't really read a lot of misana but i do see people talking abt them more often than not! misamo related stuff is what i get the most here other than jihyo's ships!!

but what i like the most is samo! i love momo being sana's baby (and mina's! mina is such a mommy...) and sana strikes me as someone who's incredibly protective over her omega (as we've seen in polarbear!sana's asks)

i think that with momo, they're a bit more playful (like jeonghyo) and if sana gets overprotective and tries to look scary so other alphas won't get near momo, momo probably laughs at her face and tells sana that she looks funny when she's jealous

alpha sana with jihyo or nayeon, even tzuyu, might be a bit different? i feel like they would love it when sana showed other people that they belong to her! not that momo doesn't, but it feels more serious with them 😭 natzuhyo wouldn't laugh at sana when the alpha is trying to mark her territory, but momo does!

in abo samo's case, i don't see the strict dom sana! i feel like sana would be kind of a loser honestly (i mean it in the best way possible!) and momo would be the hot girlfriend who's always riling her up in any way she possibly can!

On a serious note, I miss being able to communicate.. with myself. When it hurt way back, to ease it, I write. I journal the pain. I document how it felt, how it affected me, how I plan to tackle it. I bring out what I grieve.

Not sure if you are still doing rankings. But I am watching 19 and I am also really enjoying your recaps of them as well. It has got me thinking about siblings. So I am wondering what is your ranking of sibling dynamics in the skamverse, you can include parental or found family dynamics if you want.

Hi anon 🍪 I was going to say this in response to another ask from a few weeks ago (about ranking Isak and Sana pairings), but it was one of those asks where I started replying and it got so long that I sent the ask to the drafts where it’s still chilling. My drafts folder is a boulevard of partially answered asks gvhvh.

But anyway, what I was gonna say then, is that I’m pretty much done ranking stuff across Skams. For a couple reasons, one being that now that 2 of the 3 remaining Skams are doing a new gen, the shows have gotten harder and harder for me to compare. Like, Skam France and Druck so obviously have completely different goals and execution, that it feels ridiculous for me to compare Daphné and Lola, and Kiki, Zoe and Nora. They were handled so differently that, unless I really love Daphné and Lola despite the skamfr of it all (which isn’t the case), the scales are massively tilted in Druck’s favor.

The other reason has to do with how to handle the top spots. And, in this case, I also find it unfair to compare, let’s say, Kiki, Zoe and Nora, and Fatou and Ilai. Because Kiki, Zoe and Nora are all central characters, whereas Ilai is a supporting character. And one of the biggest parts of Nora’s season was the relationship between all three sisters, whereas the Fatou-Ilai relationship is mostly there to give context to Fatou’s personality. So, sure, I can like Fatou and Ilai better, but Druck has dedicated a lot more time and effort to Kiki, Zoe and Nora.

(Edit!: I forgot to say this, but thanks for letting me know that you’re reading and enjoying my 19 recaps. I don’t mind not getting a ton of notes, because I know 19 doesn’t have a huge audience, but notes are kind of how I know the posts are reaching someone. So having a person say they’re reading and liking them goes a long way. 💛)

That being said, I will now go over the different sibling relationships in the Skams, and I’ll keep it to actual siblings, because if I start including parents and found family, this ask would be fated to the drafts folder lol.

I generally enjoyed these relationships:

Sana and Elias: they were the first sibling relationship in Skam, and I think it was a more or less good portrayal of a nuanced relationship, that isn’t all peace and love, but also not hate all the time. I liked Elias, as well as the attempt to develop him and his friends through Hei Briskeby.

Amira, Essam and Omar: Really more Amira and Essam, since Omar had such dad vibes that he really seemed to relate to his siblings more from a position of “ha ha these children are so moody!!” Essam was such an interesting character, and I’m disappointed that he got axed when Druck went in a different direction with their new gen. 

Kiki, Zoe and Nora: I mean, they’re iconic! Along with Viri’s “season”, I think s5 has been one of the best attempts to make up for the Vilde season we never got. I think all three characters could realistically take the Vilde role in a Skam version. Once Mamachwitz is out of the picture, Nora becomes less of a Vilde, but I do think she’s one in the first part of the season when she’s still living with her mom. I loved the way Druck explored how siblings come together and apart when their parent can’t parent. 

Fatou and Ilai: I like when these type of shows make it clear that the siblings are subject to their own pressures, I also experienced impostor’s syndrome at uni for a time, so I could relate to Ilai. I think Druck did well with the time they had to dedicate to this relationship.

Emma and Nora: This was Eskam utilizing all their braincells. I think Emma is such an important character, I love that eskam was very clear in not blaming Emma’s SA on her drinking or partying, and that it continued to not judge Emma as she partied and drank. They walked a fine line with showing that Nora knew it wouldn’t be Emma’s fault if something did happen to her, but also being worried that something would happen to her. Because it’s only human to worry even if you know the theory. It was also a great way to illustrate Nora’s struggle with knowing the theory and applying it.

I generally like these relationships:

Dani and Cris: I don’t like Dani, but I’m glad he was a source of support and love for Cris.

Dounia and Kasim: They had so much potential tbh, even in their actual incarnation as non hijabi but practicing Muslim, and gay Muslim who doesn’t practice but does take comfort in Islam. 

Yasmina and Elias: I mean, it’s wtfck. Elias will drop gendered slurs because the writers are useless. But they’ve had a couple conversations so far, which is nice. It’s nice that wtfck is giving their relationship facetime.

I can’t really comment on Daphné and Lola, nor Sana and Rami from Skam Italia.

I didn’t like these relationships:

Eleonora and Filippo: I mean, I didn’t watch their Eleonora season, so that’s one strike. But the other is that Iiii hate it when the Skams make the William fight about fighting homophobes. And then Skam Italia took it a step further by wanting to be “nuanced” by making Eleonora’s brother be gay, so she’d look even worse for not approving of Edoardo fighting homophobes. Also, Filippo looked younger than half the teen cast, so lol.

Imane and Idriss: I fucking hate that Idriss took Ingrid’s side in the Ingrid/Imane fight. There are two special seats in hell reserved for David H and Niels.

Nora and Sporty Spice: I realize that they don’t know they’re twins separated at birth, but still, you’d think Sporty Spice would be less creepy about his sister.

(re)Watching Magia Record S1 - part 11

Hello and welcome back everyone to our Magia Record s1 watch-along! Last time, we had the aftermath of the Endless Solitude's incident, found out that Mami is now part of the Wings of the Magius and left off with the reveal that one of Ui's (Iroha's sister, for those who have forgotten) might be another one of the Magius. What is this all about? Let's watch and find out:

Puella Magi Madoka Magica Side Story: Magia Record S1 episode 11

For some reason, we are now watching Tsukuyo's club practice. Wait- Akatsuki? That's not the surname I remember. We also see a photo of Mifuyu on the club room, so they must've been club mates.

Good question, Tsukuyo. Maybe she's waiting for Sana? (lies)

awnt the whole family's on the op now. Yachiyo is even smiling!

NOW we're back to where the other episode left off. According to Sana, she sometimes heard the Feathers talking about Nemu when they came to Ai's barrier to retrieve a witch. The girls then wonder if Nemu's being forced to work with them and Iroha says that maybe Ui's being kept captive by them too, with everyone falling silent at this.

Felicia asks if they can't just catch a Feather and force them to speak, so Tsuruno says if they should keep going after the Rumors them. While the three are wondering that, Iroha remembers about Tsukuyo, who she had seen in her uniform, and we are now back to the present.

Yeah right, are you saying you were actually triplets?

So Iroha decided to catch Tsukuyo after school. If Tsukuyo had a braincell, she could've left by a backdoor or used her magical girl powers to jump over the wall, but it seems she borrowed hers to Tsukasa today.

Tsukuyo stops Iroha from outing her as a Feather, so Iroha invites her to go talk somewhere else. Tsukuyo asks if she plans to interrogate her or worse but Iroha really only wants to talk.

After changing locations, Iroha seems to have told Tsukuyo about her situation. Tsukuyo asks why Iroha would go so far as telling her that, and Iroha answers that she needs to see Nemu no matter what.

After asking who between Tsukuyo and Tsukasa is the younger sister, appealing to their point in common, Iroha threatens outing Tsukuyo to the others if she doesn't let her see Nemu. Tsukuyo is shocked, asking if she's threatening her and Iroha says she doesn't care if she sees it that way. Damn, Iroha really means business when it's about her sister.

As always when it comes to Ui, Iroha's unusually pushy, and Tsukuyo ends up giving in and promising to at least talk to Mifuyu about it.

Later that day, the Mikadzuki girls minus Yachiyo are having a meeting in Iroha's room, and decide to get Yachiyo coasters as a thank-you present for giving them the mugs. So cute.

...that's some interesting club this school has.

The next day, Iroha meets up after school with the other girls to go buy the coaster. Can we talk about the fact there's a group chat just for watching over Felicia? lol

The girls go buy the coaster, and get interrupted by a witch. Guess we can add that to the things magical girls can't do in peace. No probs Tsuruno, there's really no run-time for this.

Look how happy she is. Please don't ruin this in the next scene, show (flag).

Back at the house, Iroha's waiting for Yachiyo's return on Tsuruno's instructions. She hears the doorbell ring and answers it immediately, thinking it's Yachiyo (really, Iroha, why would Yachiyo ring the doorbell to her own house?) but, shockingly, it's Mifuyu.

This probably situation couldn't get more awkward for Iroha had they tried. Iroha tries to show some hospitality, but Mifuyu takes the lead and the opportunity to rub in that she knows the place (and its owner) way better. What's with the attitude, Mifuyu? It's not like Iroha threatened your friend or a- oh wait, nvm.

Iroha asks what business Mifuyu has with Yachiyo today, and Mifuyu asks in return if she has to have some business in order to visit a friend... no, not business Mifuyu but normally you'd warn someone before dropping by, where's your manners? Iroha points out that she hasn't visited for a long time and Mifuyu explains that she didn't come because she knew Yachiyo wouldn't agree with The Wings of the Magius. She then explains she's actually there to talk to Iroha today.

Oh, she did it, she flipped Iroha's switch.

Mifuyu asks if Iroha wouldn't join the cult if she wants to know about Nemu, but Iroha questions Mifuyu's motive for recruiting her, to which Mifuyu says it'd be good for them because she'd be able to investigate about her sister without clashing with them. Iroha presses her about Ui, which she says she doesn't know, and Nemu, but Mifuyu does not say anything else.

...aaand the other girls are standing there in the garden while all this is going on lol

*peek*

Mifuyu invites the girls of Mikadzuki Villa to attend a lecture about what exactly the cult is doing... this is definitely a trap ain't it. At that moment, Yachiyo arrives. Oooh man...

Mifuyu apologizes for the surprise and makes to leave, saying this one unpleasant remark to which Yachiyo angrily replies right away.

Mifuyu provokes Yachiyo, saying how she went back to being her old self, which Yachiyo denies, eventually losing her cool and ordering Mifuyu to leave.

Tsuruno tries to check on Yachiyo but Yachiyo also leaves. Felicia's confused and Tsuruno tries to keep a bright mood, but the atmosphere is definitely ruined.

Yachiyo has went back to her room and-

ohhwoah what is that that's creepy!

So, uhh, Yachiyo is not well at all, she's now hallucinating. Whatever Mifuyu was trying to get at earlier it definitely got to her.

Seems the other girls aren't having a much better night either... but at least they're not hallucinating.

The next day, Iroha relays Mifuyu's invitation to the others. Yachiyo, however, refuses to take part in the conversation and leaves. She's very clearly still bothered about what Mifuyu said, and now she's avoiding her team.

Iroha and the girls have each their reaction to Yachiyo's behavior for a moment, but then go back to the matter at hand. Sana asks if Iroha really plans on going to the lecture, and she says she decided it'd be best to go, after thinking it over. They don't want to fight the cult either, so it shouldn't hurt to at least try to hear them out. Felicia says it's definitely a trap but that they can just break out together then, with Tsuruno agreeing. The two laugh, but doesn't it feel kinda forced?

...and then they realize no one knows where Memory Museum is lol

Mitama! Long time no see.

Iroha drops by the Coordinator's to ask about Memory Museum, which Mitama reveals is a Rumor that's being spread around Sakae Ward.

We then get a scene about the contents of the Rumor. Apparently, the Memory Museum archives memories (who'd thought!) and you can do things with them by ringing a bell, or something. But if you see one you'll end up influenced by it. (I refuse to comment about the goat)

In any case, Momoko points on the map the probable location of Memory Museum, to which Iroha thanks the two and goes back. After Iroha leaving, Mitama advises Momoko to tell "something", at least to Rena, since Kaede is still down, and Momoko says she knows. Quite the dark clouds are on the horizon.

No, literally. It's raining.

Back at Mikadzuki Villa, all the girls except Yachiyo are leaving to go to Memory Museum. Iroha warns Yachiyo they're leaving, but she doesn't answer. Ohh Yachiyo, please, are you sure you won't regret this later?

Iroha and co. naruto run on the rain to Memory Museum, meeting Chibi Kyuubei on the entrance. Yep, definitely Rumor. I might be going crazy but I always think that Iroha looks more her age with the raincoat, despite Madoka's wei- I mean, unique art style. Gotta be something with the proportions.

Also like this detail with Tsuruno's coat folded weird and Felicia's not folded at all lol

We are platformer game now

While climbing up the drawers, the girls talk about chibi Kyuubei, eventually raising suggestions on how to name him... which is funny because that's for the player to decide in the game, so we don't have an official way to call him.

Meanwhile, Rena's meeting up with Momoko. She starts complaining like usual, but soon hesitates when she reads the mood. Momoko says she thought it was time to tell her what happened to Yachiyo one year ago. Wait, what? We never heard about anything either.

But, well... we can guess.

Back at the Memory Museum, Iroha might be the unluckiest mahou shoujo ever, because

One of the Magius is none other than one of her sister's friends.

Aaand that's it for episode 11. That last scene is a bomb drop, but it's not like you couldn't see it coming from the moment they said Nemu was part of the cult. I mean, if one of the hospital trio was erased from existence, and the other was part of the cult, what were the odds that the last one would be normal? lol

Talking about this scene, I feel compelled to post here the corresponding still from the game, because the world was robbed of Iroha's surprisingly gallant back:

On the other hand, Touka looks like a cute normal kid here which is about as far of the truth as we can get, so I'll give the anime credit for that.

All that aside, we are now approaching the end! With the Magius giving a lecture about salvation and Momoko having a talk with Rena, it's quite clear that the truth about magical girls is about to be revealed to our cast next episode. The big question here is: how will they react? Felicia specially shouldn't be very happy to learn this, considering what her wish was. Exciting!

We also have left to wonder what's up with Yachiyo. Why did what Mifuyu say affect her so much? We have yet to see her backstory, so Momoko talking might just gives us the answer to that question.

With that said, I'll leave it here for today. I can't believe this ended up even later than yesterday considering I start writing even earlier. Dammit short attention span, stop getting sidetracked pls. Tomorrow we'll be watching episode 11 that's looking really promising, so I hope you'll be reading me again then. Okay this is a hard question I really need to think it through. I am gonna make a squad mixed with the boy squads and the girl squads.

Jonas Augustin, Eleonora, Arthur, Isa, David, Sana

These seem like the most random group of people and they are hahahah. I kinda tried to pick people from different universes.

Honestly I feel like me and Jonas would get along really well because of his politic side. I feel like I understand Ele and our energies will align and Jonas and Ele would get along too. Arthur and Jonas would have so much fun they both exude similar one braincell energies and me and Arthur would get along because I am like him in sarcasm and jokes. Isa would join in the fun of the group and maybe help me and Ele loosen up a bit too. David and me would get along well because of our shared love for movies and I feel like weirdly Isa and David would get along. Of course he would fit in with the boys. Sana would be the one to kind a keep us in line and be our common sense. We would get along well because we would both protect our friends. So yeah! If I thought more I think more ideal squads or other ideal squads would come up but I am happy with my choices.

i’d base it in the northwest like washington or oregon (which i know might seem random but bare with me). i feel like cities like seattle or portland fit the aesthetic of og skam a lot better than austin + as someone who is from the south, a lot of things i saw in skam austin were SO CRINGEY and it was like they emphasized certain things about the south tooooo much and didn’t emphasize other things. if i went into details about it then this post would be hella long but yeah 

it’d obviously be in english + while the storyline would follow the general plot of the og, i’d definitely change some things up that i didn’t like (which again, if i went into detail this post would be super long) 

like one thing for sure, is that i would slow down the noorhelm relationship + change the willhelm character completely (*cough noah *cough)

tbh when i re-read kill steal, same din yung kaba. like the braincell that came up with kill steal? outdid itself. kung nakuha siya agad, edi tapos agad yung kwento <//3 grabe stamina nila :D di naman sa always takbo, minsan tago for rest. i'd probably be on the kill list irl, magpapapatay nalang ako kaagad.

on the first thought - i don’t think so. on the second, i could probably come up with something, although it would take so much planning, which is exactly what i don’t have braincells for.

uuu hold on, i think i have one? hear me out vilde/isak - not only we finally would have wlw vilde, but it is also a way to explore her relationship with her mother and her family situation overall.

first of all: sapphic isak, thank you and goodnight.

she’s the quiet one in the group, that you think you know, but you never really do. her toxic parents situation is explored in more depth than other versions. my isak pretty much tries to limit how much emotions she shows, as we already established, because of how much she experienced in her family. she acts as if she has everything together, even tho it’s not exactly that way, keeps every emotion in until she breaks, when it’s usually messy and is very afraid of being left alone, because of what she’s been through, being too mush of a burden. she essentially feels as if she had to keep it all together until end of hs, until this and that, and then she can finally get a break but she never does. what ends up happening, obviously, is even coming into her life, which makes her face all of these things she’s been carrying sooner than she thought she had to.
