We got a super Thursday this year bigger than any of the super Saturdays lol. So much happened! I needed some time to gather my thoughts
First of all, I love that we have another nonbinary artist this year! Musically The Code reminds me of Jann in Emperor's New Clothes. I like how dynamic the song is, the opera merged with other genres (which I'm always a sucker for) and on top of that, the message!! The only thing is I always cringe at the line with ammonites... Can't have everything. This will be high in my ranking for sure. The question remains, will they be able to pull those notes live?
UK... I believed until the end, even after those snippets. The huge names (Olly and Danny) only raised the expectations. This is incredibly monotonous and lacks any climax. In a weaker year it could place like 10th in my ranking, not this time. A lot of wasted potential here :/ I still have hope for a redeeming staging since I've seen what Olly's capable of at the Brit Awards in 2021.
Not a crazy fan of We Will Rave. Everywhere around me I keep hearing oohs and aahs and because of that I just can't warm up to that song. Somehow I strongly feel about what staging would fit and which would break that song for me. Based on Kaleen's vibes I think she will go for the latter, sadly.
Cyprus scores surprisingly high this year in my ranking, considering what kind of song this is. Usually I stay indifferent towards upbeat girl pop. Idc what happened this time, I like the melodies and Silia's positive energy in the mv is just contagious.
And last but not least, my one of a kind funky Dutch man 🥹 I am absolutely in love with everything he does. While watching the premiere I immediately spotted that Europapa doesn't go as hard as his other songs, which I did expect. (Ok, the exception is that gabber(?) moment.) I get he might have done this to appeal to the wider audience but somehow it still feels very authentic to him as an artist and that is what counts in the end. The first part immediately brings to mind Samaa taviasta katsotaan, even Poland got mentioned. Maybe I shouldn't be comparing so much but I swear those are all compliments. I love both Emperor's New Clothes and Samaa...
The "Europe without borders" message speaks to me on a very personal level. It awakened the Europatriotic side of me, which I feel I might have unconsciously shut down some time ago due to the worsening political situation (both in Poland and throughout Europe) and people writing that view off as idealistic and naive. Idk whether I'm interpreting it right, but especially the picture of the burning cluster of buildings(?) as a symbol of the current political (but also environmental!!) situation on the continent hit me hard.
Generally, I find it insane how a Dutch rapper makes me feel more towards the place I live in than an entire lifetime that I spent learning about Polish history, martyrdom and a predefined meaning of what it means to be a "good patriotic Pole" being imposed on me by people whose national identity was shaped long before we entered the EU. I think that's a generational divide, but the worst thing is that those people are more and more power-hungry and not willing to give up that power when the time comes. Right now they are only reinforcing their positions and digging divides deeper than ever to control the nation
So yes, I am crying but not because of the dad situation (I sympathize wholeheartedly but can't relate) but rather my very personal relation to patriotism and the mill of thoughts Joost kickstarted in my head. This song awakes some deep deposits of feelings I was only partially aware I had, expect more thinking out loud in text on here.
Now, thanks for coming to my ted talk, if anyone even reached the end <3

January Recap
Thanks to me, sudah berhasil melewati Januari yang nambahnya banyak haha. Ga ada new year, new me atau new new lainnya.
Happy Birthday, 27 in 23
January, almost every weekend especially on Sunday. Aku selalu cari ide buat pergi ngafe atau sekedar keluar saja. Di tanggal 21 Januari, saturday night w/ my friends in Kodam wkwk.
New (?)
Meet up di cafe sambil ngobrol-ngobrol banyak, kenalan-receh-deep talks dikit. Ternyata makin kesini aku makin tau kalau kenalan dan ngobrol sama orang baru juga ga masalah buatku, asal menyenangkan dan nyambung.
15 Januari di XXX3, aku pesan varian non-coffee rasa coklat. Aduh mau cerita tapi bukan siapa-siapa.

Salaam. Sister just a quick question I'm really struggling with this issue as it affects me mentally. How does one cope when a family member is envious of the blessings Allah has bless us with meaning a child and a good marriage? And makes it's obvious and complains about it to others. Also blaming it on us saying that we're the cause of them not being blessed?!
Jazakillah khayr for taking your time reading this I hope I do get a reply from you. I don't know who to seek help from is there anyone I can speak to like a sheikh or sheikha?
Wallahi I need help.
Wa Alaikum Assalam wa rahmatu Allahi wa barakatuhu sis 🤍
I don't know where to start wallahi as your issue is something that I deal with personally. Except that I go to therapy rather than to a sheikh or sheikha 😅 (well because seeking the help of a sheikh is not in my culture but that's another topic). But what I meant to say is that maybe my reply wouldn't built on strong religious basis as you expect. Thus, I am seeking the help of my sisters @heruwrittencanvas and @3ayyn InshaAllah they will find some good words to help you.
Anyways, let me start by saying I FEEL YOU sister. And maybe I don't know exactly what you're going thru but I do have an idea. And I am so sorry you are going thru this, but hey you are not alone, I promise. We can virtually stick together 🙈💕
Now, let's get serious. Be it a family member, a close relative, a neighbor, a friend or a stranger, people will ALWAYS be jealous, envious of you for one way or the other. Because a) that's who they are as a person b) that's because of their low iman and c) that's the devil's promise to Allah, so technically comparison, hasad, envy and jealousy will always be there until the end of time. So here's what I need you to do. I know how bad this is affecting you and being exhausting for you (and the worst part is that you can't actually confront that person for one reason or the other). So first of all, know that it is not about you personally. If it were anyone else in your position, they'd still feel jealous and envious and they'd still act the exact same way. The problem is in them. They are not satisfied with their lives, they are not satisfied with what Allah swt gave them, they are not grateful, AstaghfiruAllah, so it's really not purposefully targeted to you, so please please please don't take it personally. At least this way, it will lighten the weight on your chest. So when you hear them say something like that again first tell yourself, let your mind know that " no it's not really about us, they are just projecting their issues " and that would InshaAllah absorb the intensity and the negativity of the situation.
Also, I promise you, it's not even about having a good marriage (may Allah bless your family and your union) or good children, they'd always find something to hate on and be jealous about. It's a disease in their hearts SubhanAllah so please please I know this is a lot that I am asking but try making duaa for them (even to their face), say Allah yahdeek/i ( May Allah swt guide you), and say May Allah swt give you so many blessings, give you everything you want. There is one duaa that I love that we say in my culture that is " May Allah swt reward you as much as (what / how much ) your heart can hold. " Which is very powerful, because if their heart is holding on evil then their reward will be accordingly as Allah swt is the most fair the most just!
Also, you know the saying " Kill them with kindness "? Try that. Just be EXTRA nice to them and their kids and InshaAllah it will count as good deeds for you. Do it for Allah's sake. He knows what's in the hearts.
One more tip, please please do " tahseen " that is say the daily remembrance and duaas to protect your family and your children before you leave your house, before you meet this person, read surah al falaq , surah al nas, ayat al Kursi, and say " bismillahi allahi la yadhuru ma'a ismihi shayun fil ardhi wa la fel samaa wa huwa as-samee' al-aleem " x3 times in the morning and in the evening and InshaAllah Allah swt will protect you of all that is evil 🤍🤍
Then, the MOST important thing you can do is be a little discreet about your life. Protect your family by keeping your affairs to yourself. Be careful who to share your news with because not everyone wants the best for you. Prophet Yusuf's brothers plotted to kill him and get rid of him because they were jealous of their father's love for him.
And about the last part, I honestly have no idea who you could reach out to some scholars or people of knowledge (on instagram) or on their Facebook pages. It depends on your entourage, where you live, etc. There are a lot of good people, speakers who always go live on their pages or give their followers a space to ask questions then they answer them. You can give me more details like whether you speak Arabic or English and I will recommend some instagram pages for you.
Anyways, I feel like I talked too much, InshaAllah I was able to bring you a bit of peace and some help. I will leave some room for my sisters, InshaAllah they can help too 🌸🌸
May Allah swt give you strength and patience. And remember, always always always rely on Allah swt to protect you and your family. And always be grateful to him for what he has blessed you with Allahuma barik 🤍🌸
Assalamu Alaikom.

My Tryst with COVID-19
Author: Asif Shah, Head Branding & Communication, Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals, Sultanate of Oman.
Tumblr media
Exhaustion after a long day at work followed by a 5 kilometer brisk walk, exercises and an hour long meeting with the company MD, would never account to me as a symptom of COVID-19. The night was restless and sleepless; I woke up with a mild fever and body ache. I still did not want to think that it could be COVID-19 – No way! Two hours to host a live zoom health talk session, I rushed to meet Dr. Basheer A, the Chief Internist at Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals and on his prescription underwent some routine blood investigations and gave swab for RT-PCR. Blood reports came slightly deranged. Uneasiness and sickness made the live session a never ending event as if time was not willing to pass. I finished somehow, rushed to my apartment and isolated myself.
Anxious and half asleep, I lay in bed waiting for the momentous RT-PCR result. At 5pm my phone beeped and read “It is positive”.  I paused, perturbed for a bit before taking it in. No amount of optimism could have prepared me for this moment. My mind conjured up all sorts of negative scenarios in a flash; worsening symptoms, hospitalization, being left alone to deal with the tragedy away from home and so on. But it was just that - a flash. Leaving worries aside, I decided the only way forward was to trust in Allah and prepare myself for the battle.
Principles, by Ray Dalio, says that truth - or more precisely - an accurate understanding of reality is the essential foundation of any good outcome. According to Dalio, it is more important to understand and deal with the bad stuff since the good stuff will take care of itself. I believe that the good things should not be taken for granted either. I ensured a disciplined routine during recovery. Inhaling steam twice a day, lying down in a prone position at times, a healthy diet and sufficient hydration, regular monitoring and charting of vital signs, timely medications and plenty of rest. Faster recovery was the only focus and priority.
Tumblr media
I had most of the symptoms of COVID; fever, body ache, cold, cough and headache. But Allah kept me safe from the most critical symptom; breathing difficulty and dip in oxygen saturation.  I maintained a saturation of 98% throughout my recovery which was a blessing and my main motivation to stay relaxed. COVID-19 was not that bad for me except on the 6th day of recovering when I had an abrupt rise in body temperature, almost 104F. Dr. Basheer rushed me to the hospital in isolation unit. I was on IV medication and observation for 3-4 hours while they ran some blood investigations and X-Ray. Reports were mostly normal; the only abnormalities were associated with COVID infection impact which was expected at this stage. I woke up feeling better the next day. By the 8th day, I was able to resume work from home. Though I could not stay focused for more than an hour at a time it kept me productive and away from negative thoughts.
Tumblr media
I made good progress and crossed the scientific and psychological mark of 10 days to land in the safe zone. I rejoined work at the office on the 13th day of diagnosis. Talking at length or a little exertion would leave me breathless. I was mentally prepared to live with it for another month but miracles continued. Two more days and I felt the same energy and health in me that I had been missing the previous fortnight.
In prostration I thank Allah for having mercy and making COVID easy for me. I am indebted to my family and friends. The board of directors and my colleagues in Badr Al Samaa Group of Hospitals were so caring and considerate. Nobody mentioned work until I was completely recovered but only showed concern for my well being. My special regards to Dr. Basheer A, who would always address my minutest concerns and call me often before I did.
I am blessed to have some real amazing people around. It was touching to see them delivering groceries at my doorstep, getting prescriptions from the doctor, delivering medications, daily checking in over phone, praying for me, advising best practices and surprising me on my birthday.
Honestly, it was during this time that I realized what it means to have caring and concerned people around me and I value them even more now.  May Allah bless them all.
Take-aways for COVID-19 patients:
The key is to stay positive and strong; do not let your worries consume you and hinder the recovery.
Follow the proper protocols for medications, rest, diet and preventive measures.
Keep a pulse oximeter and thermometer handy and record your vitals regularly.
Stay connected with friends and family. If your body allows, invest your time in prayers, reading, watching positive content etc.
Never miss to report any new symptoms, worsening of symptoms and other untoward events to your doctor. Never push your limits.
Tumblr media
The best thing is to stay safe and healthy. Be responsible not just for you but for your family and community. Get vaccinated as soon as possible. Do not think that you will be immune to COVID-19 forever after recovering; there are umpteen examples of re-infections around us, and follow safety protocols even after recovery.
