I don’t like to use salt in my practice 🌱
This is because it’s toxic to the earth! As I follow the cottage witch path why would I want to dispose of a spell ingredient that will harm the earth? 🌸
I will find a suitable replacement for salt by the properties I would use it for! For example I create money bowls with rice instead of salt, and you can use cleaned eggshells for protection! ✨
I do of course have black salt because I started creating it before I realised that salt will damage the earth. If I plan to use my black salt (or any salt!) in my practice, then I’ll find a way to repurpose and cleanse it. That way I don’t have to dispose of it. 🌙

this is what i don't get. if nate really wanted to portray catra as this innocent and compassionate person, why does he keep describing her as such an asshole, even post-redemption?
he could have easily said something like “catra stole adora's shirt because it was comfy” and it would have sounded cute and romantic, but he had to go and specify that catra ripped up adora's clothing just so that she wouldn't wear it. because.. yeah. that's so romantic and not shitty at all.
#the way the creators themselves normalize abusive language is insane#“catra has changed!!” proceeds to talk about how catra destroys adora's property without her permission#spop critical#spop salt#spop discourse#spop criticism#spop#she ra#anti spop#anti catradora#anti c//a#anticatradora#anti nate stevenson

we all know and love "because someone fucking has to" and "you deserve to be happy, and I hope that you can find that here at camp" and for good reason- but can I share the scene that encapsulates the show for me? what i think is its thesis statement of sorts. I have so many thought on this so bare with me but:
It's from "Cameron Campbell the Camp Campbell Camper" - at the very end when David and Cameron are having their confrontation and Cameron is raving about David chosing a bunch of "bratty children" over him. and David says "That's the job. You really don't get that do you?"
Cameron thinks that because David is his employee, and more then that views Cameron as a father figure - he "owes" him blind obedience. And at that point, Cameron viewed all of the kids at camp as walking representations of their parent's wallets. Cameron doesn't see anyone - but especially not children - as people worthy of respect. Children are just devices through which he makes money. That philosophy includes and has always included David, who's literally been making Cameron money for over a decade as both camper and councilor.
David on the other hand sees things for what they are. It doesn't matter that Max is a troublemaker or that Nurf creates problems or that none of the campers listen to him - at the end of the day they are human beings deserving of care and happiness. David doesn't see children as extensions of their parents, meant to be entirely obedient to adults. Instead he sees them as young individuals who are learning to be alive for the first time and are going through all the trial and error of being a Person. And children being infuriating and disobedient is both understandable and comes with the territory of being an educator/caretaker/parent. Children are "bratty" because so far that's the only way they know how to demand for needs that aren't being met (think: "you have every right to be angry" convo). And THAT'S THE JOB. the job is teaching them how to grow, and communicate, and to make sure they're safe all the while.
as I see it, one of the running themes in the show is "even flawed people deserve a chance at community/redemption/joy." and that's something that David full-heartedly believes. I think he pities Cameron in that moment because he recognizes that Cameron both 1) doesn't see the source of genuine joy David finds in his job, and 2) is incapable of extending grace to kids learning how to be better people. and by extension is incapable of extending that grace to anyone else -including himself. (A realization Cameron later has in "Candy Kingpin") David pities him because Cameron can't see the humanity in children, and also cannot recognize that humanity within himself.
Another thing I also love about this scene is Max's reaction. When Max is upset, he defaults to anger. That's where what he's most comfortable with expressing, that's the feeling most familiar to him. So when he asks David "You seriously feel sorry for this piece of shit? How are you not pissed?" It comes from such a genuine place of concern and sense of injustice. Because in that scene, it wasn't enough that Max outsmarted Cameron. And it wasn't enough that the Millers were already aware of his plans. Max specifically seeks out a reaction from David. He wants - or at the very least expected - David to be angry. This can be read so many ways but the way I see it - this is Max's way of relating to someone, or hoping to. Max often doesn't understand David's POV, but anger is a place where he can meet him at. MAX is angry at Cameron, he can't fathom someone feeling any type of sympathy for him- let alone pity. It almost comes across like Max is angry FOR David in this scene. Because at the end of day, despite all their differences, Max still won't stand for David being unfairly screwed over. But let me know if you see it differently :)
To make a long story short, what I perceive as the "thesis statement" of the show (or at least one of the things I took away from it) is this critique on how parents view children as an extension of themselves rather than their own people. which enables parents to mistreat their children because they have the "right" to - and the antitheses to that being genuine communication and recognizing that you as an adult still have things to learn. even if it's from kids. and it's your job to both listen to and protect them.
#this post works better if you're already familiar with the concept of how we're conditioned to believe that children are property#but i think my point is clear either way?#camp camp#david camp camp#cameron campbell#max camp camp#take this entire post with a grain of salt cause i haven't rewatched this show since rooster teeth died#i'm sure yapping a lot for someone who doesn't have a crystal clear memory#but hey if you disagree feel free to chime off - i would actually love to talk about this with someone

Love how the Titans are literally walking out of the boom tube, coming back from an emotionally devastating mission, and before the portal is even fully closed Wally's like "Alright, full disclosure I did fully search the bad guy's liar and steal their shit"
One of their closest childhood friends, whom they all love and trust, is working for the bad guys and told them all that he thinks humanity sucks, and everyone is devastated and Wally's just like "....... I took their rock... I don't know what it is but it looked important...?"
I just... Good god I love this man. Garth has a dramatic villain reveal and Wally just presses pause and walks away to go check out the storage closets to see what he can steal. He's a menace. I love him so much.
#Garth: Im evil now#Wally: *drawing mustaches on cult paintings three floors away* oh nooooooo#Garth: Im serious. i hate humanity. im very evil#Wally: *deleting all the files from the cult servers and switching the salt and sugar in the pantry* I am absolutely devastated#Garth: I-#Wally: *gesturing at weapons of mass destruction* bippity boppity these WMDs are now my property#dc#dc comics#the flash#kid flash#wally west#teen titans#titans#Garth

So I started thinking about some stuff regarding living metal.
Because cybertronians can aquire rust and a form of living rust, this implies cyberforms contain iron element atoms. Like we do carbon. (Tho they would have carbon too, and all sorts of other shit)
Because in at least fannon they consume various other minerals such as cobalt or copper as a way to keep their frame up and functional like vitamins ext, this implies living metal is an iron alloy.
So, if sentio metalico is an iron alloy that contains many elements of metals for upkeep, this means that therefore, it's a steel.
Since they don't rust super easily, this puts sentio metalico under the stainless steel category, which means they mostly need things like Iron and Chromium for upkeep on top of whatever their frame type requires. (Example: flight frames might need more aluminium cause jets usually have a lot of that and beryllium)
Chromium is very brittle, which is why the iron in stainless steel is a base for the alloy. So if a cyberform isn't healthy, or has a condition that makes some metals more abundant like chromium, they could bruise or scar easily.
Also sodium is a metal that is good for conducting electricity, which means cyberforms would probably consume it for health regarding circuitry and cables that send electricity from the fuel pump to assist energon.
And chlorine is a chemical used for things like coolants, airbags, and antifreeze. And corrosion resistant paints, which would be something reasonable for paint nanites to consist of amongst other things.
Which means I can safely say this:
#transformers#macadams#cybertron worldbuilding#cybertronian biology#did i really research properties and such of metals for the chemical makeup of cybertronians just to make a joke about salt?#yes. yes I did#i regret nothing#Vinny's rambling again

Barely holding back screams
If I see one more person, on YouTube or fic or social or otherwise, discredit pink salt as nothing special, I'm gonna blow something up
#if i see more ppl believing propaganda against indigenous things of other regions I'll -#'nothing special'. they are testing my patience.#i could go into detail about the properties and perks and benfits of it but I'll come off as rude for that probably#well. if it's prupose was to halt any import then fine whatever. more for us#not my problem for foreigners to be missing out on something wonderful#'nothing special'#yeah keep believing media that's paid to set a mind & not ppl using it in daily life alongside regular table salt & knowing the difference

Reading ALC's Sally Rooney essay and want to add that the Anglophone tradition of "amatory fiction" which ostensibly reached its apogee in Jane Austen's oeuvre is about money and class as much as it is about love and marriage, and that those themes are inextricably linked in the English-language novel
#Any Marxist worth their salt knows that marriage and money are two sides of the same coin#Marriage and property more so#I love a novel where they tell you exactly how much money everybody has

You know, i swore off of watching any more marvel movies for a few years, but I did watch DP 3 because well, i used to know what deadpool used to be, and it used to be GOOD. it used to be not just funny, but it had heart too.
But well, it was very silly to expect anything like that when all marvel seems to be doing now is treating characters not as characters, but as conduits for one liners and jokes. Its the death of sincerity. The death of art, really. And the writing laughs at you for expecting anything more. Its laughing at you for ever having connected to these characters... because theyre NOT characters anymore.
And I guess thats why ive fully lost my passion for this stuff as of late.
And I cant even take it as brainless slop, because this brainless slop tells you with no pretense that this is a souless cashgrab that you fell for. And an expectation for a film... well that was your own mistake. Fork over the cash, waste your time, and move on.
#sorry for being so dour on main but.... I FUCKING HATE MARVEL#no hate to you if you still like it. i think marvel has made properties that used to be artful#that used to even be stories#but i dont think these are#let me explain to you just how much i hated this movie#i wanted to walk out 20 minutes in#im a point where i dont even want to handwring over a shitty plot or shitty cameos or shitty jokes because#all that culminates is in me being a little snob and saying watching that felt like watching art dying right before my eyes#my simple opinion is that marvel has always been a cash cow and we fucking know this#but that also hasnt alwsys equated to them being anti human anti art garbage that mocks you for even engaging with it with any sincerity#marvel salt#criticism#also correction i said i wanted to walk out 20 min in but i already realized this had a 99% chance of being slop when i saw the tva#misc.#deadpool and wolverine#deadpool 3

Everytime I watch supernatural there’s always a scene where I’m suddenly reminded these are two men well over six foot, and I too would be wary if these massive leather clad men suddenly approached me with extensive knowledge on my loved ones death
#like they’re scary#two massive guys just showing up all over town#then they just leave after destroying some private property?#they literally walk around the streets holding shovels salt and gasoline#you see two hulking figures burning graves in the middle of the night and it’s just these guys#sam and dean#supernatural

Please consider the mental image of Gilgamesh and/or Somnus manifesting by Sel. Only for Sel to give them the finger and dump Leviathan on their head. Without putting down her fruity drink. (She'd probably calmly blog the experience, wouldn't she. Which is how Lucis/Cor et al find out about it - everyone else thinks it's clever use of CGI.)
Gilgamesh and or Somnus: Please-
Sel: *flips them the finger and takes a long sip of her pina colda while Leviathan douses them with water*
Also Sel as she livestreams the entire thing in a Q&A: so as I was saying dear audience - you can match pinks and reds together but you must do so carefully. Otherwise you risk looking like a tacky piece of Valentine’s Day candy. But if that’s what you wish to be go ahead. Six know my own father has the worst fashion sense on the star. Now, next question?
*later*
The Citadel who already have a file on Sel because of her Less Than Imperial Friendly Activities + that one immense donation to the kingslgaive that they traced back to her: …..
Regis: ……..Cor. You’ve met her. What did you think.
Cor: she doesn’t care about others opinions and is prone to cursing people out if she thinks they’ve overstepped their boundaries. But what’s more terrifying is when she goes quiet and tears you to shreds without uttering a single curse. That comes with the risk of her taking all you own and selling it for fun and profit.
Regis: so you like her
Cor: she doesn’t care about her fathers activities at least. We could use her as an asset. I believe she has a job lined up in Lucis at least.
Regis: well. It appears I have an invitation to write.
#there is a File On Sel#both as Ardyn’s daughter and as someone who doesn’t care for the imperial conquest#cor met her once while#he was undercover and she got him a property by the beach a boat and a cat#he still has the cat#salt of the sea lover of the land verse#they have doubts but they can’t dismiss her outright! because there is a chance#and thats enough for an invitation

Blows my mind how much fanart there is depicting the rr/b and the ppn/kg being friends and flirting. All power to you but I think they would blow each other up
#not that this isnt their canon relationship to the power/puff girls anyway but i just mean it would happen faster#the boys would piss them off by making fun of them for being girls and then theyd feel emasculated bc theyre better at being evil than them#cue apocalyptic levels of property damage#or alternatively the boys just lose#i feel like the pp/nkg would sniff out their weakness for being laughed at incredibly fast#both are fun possibilities i think#bubble journal#not to dump on the boys but the powerpunks are smarter and have no weird weaknesses that can be exploited#And they have no vested interest in preserving the city in a fight#their best bet is a draw but like. theyre also severely allergic to road salt and mild embarassment
