Max’s crush, Curt meets new people.... and proof as to what would happen if I ever did my take on Superior Spiderman.
(Also this version of Curt, Flint, and Keemia belong to @artistcaptainbendy)
I kind of like the idea of Max having a type... and just being a bundle of nervous energy when it comes to the idea of having a crush/dating/confessing feelings.
I liked the Werewolf by Night special and wanted to do my own take on Jack and his buddy Ted (AKA Man-Thing). I made him Hispanic as a nod to his actor Gael Garcia Bernal. Also Ted was fun to draw for a few reasons (also it’s Ted and Ted is one of the best things to come out of MCU’s phase 4).
I hate how the Superior Spiderman made Otto into a huge creep when it came to Mary Jane. Actually the poor girl seems to be an unfortunate target of... uh... ‘interest’ whenever someone body swaps with Peter (I’m aware about what happened when Wolverine swapped bodies with a high school aged Peter in the Ultimate comics). So I decided to give the poor girl a scenario (and some badly needed respect) where the body swapped person actually HAS standards  and reasons NOT to take advantage of her.

Please tell me what’s going on in Hollyoaks!! I stopped watching in like 2015 but I still love the 2007-2013 era so much. I just saw Hannah came back what!? Also where do you watch all these old episodes
hi! I think I also stopped watching around then so I’m pretty rusty and just catching up myself.
right now, the major storylines are:
- carter shepherd is the new headmaster at hollyoaks high. he is also freya’s father - she is a student who was paralyzed by john paul’s drunk driving bus crash. john paul has been struggling a lot with the guilt from that crash and reckoning with sobriety after i think about a year of being in a relationship with an abusive partner, pc george kiss. sally killed george when he was about to attack theresa who confronted him about his abusing john paul.
carter is also a religious leader, leads gay conversion therapy under the guise of self-help sessions for men, and has a following. john paul at first leaned into his therapy sessions because they were about getting control back, battling his inner demons, etc - and he was particularly moved because both carter and freya forgave him for the accident. when he clocked that it was gay conversion, he tried to disrupt the sessions and talk carter out of holding them, when carter revealed he himself struggled with his sexuality. naturally they start falling in love. john paul has been urging him to stop gay conversion practices and start accepting his sexuality, but one of his followers gareth saw carter and john paul kissing and (possibly) heard them having sex in the dog’s bathroom (i think this could be someone else though) and is blackmailing carter about it - trying to get him to go back to practicing what he preaches and leaving john paul alone.
carter is also publicly dating maxine.
- mercedes is pregnant and was getting married to a character named felix who just learned that she cheated on him with warren. they just had a car crash with all three of them. i think the storyline here is that mercy is going to have that situation where she has twins where each child has a different father.
- sally is working with carter at the school again, helping with accounting stuff.
- ste and james are in a rough place - james struggled with parenting lucas who lashed out at him, said some hurtful things, so james hit him and locked him in a shed overnight.
- leah got alcohol poisoning at a rave and called ste to pick her up - when he was driving her to the hospital he had a near-miss with mercedes/felix/warren’s car and it is insinuated he ran over and killed ella. her boot was in his front wheel and you see his car jostle while he’s driving and not paying attention to the road. warren thinks felix killed ella.
- cleo is back and wants to reunite with joel who is seeing leela right now. she has a boyfriend though and he seems like he might be like a controlling stalker.
- lucas is struggling with his sexuality - he’s falling for a classmate named dillon but lucas doesn’t want to be like ste, or affiliates ste’s hardships with being gay so he is pushing back. there were also a few weird scenes where they were super heavy handed of ste being like LUCAS AT LEAST YOU’RE NOT GAY BECAUSE IT’S NOT EASY LET ME TELL YOU lol.
- peri, romeo, hunter, prince and their friend group are all embroiled in a whodunnit murder of romeo’s abusive ex.
- nancy is back, working at hollyoaks high again. hannah is staying with her and darren with the kids.
- hannah… brought darren and suzanne’s twins to hollyoaks to “meet” darren. this is all very silly because i was just rewatching 2013/2014 clips and they literally talk about darren visiting the twins so idk why they think we’d buy he doesn’t recognize them or they don’t know who he is. emma rigby is signed onto the show for at least a year. she reunited with john paul, overheard carter and gareth talking. she also seems to have something fishy going on as she’s nervously screening calls.
- yaz and tom are together. yaz works at the school and is struggling with early menopause.
- oh sienna was going to marry this wealthy guy named rafe who was faking terminal illness, but he was conspiring with a character named dilly (who he said was his sister, but is actually his wife) who has some affiliation with patrick that we don’t fully know. anyway in true blake fashion dilly tied rafe to a radiator in a basement on the night of his and sienna’s wedding and he died.
I think that’s most of it - sorry to the families i’m missing. I think it’s mostly just fallout from the car crashes rn.
I’m American so the past year of episodes is on Hulu. For super old clips, like earlier John Paul storylines, I look for uploaders on YouTube or Dailymotion. Sometimes searching the full date of episodes helps.

Anthony's Stupid Daily Blog (870): Mon 5th Aug 2024
Tuned into tonight's Hollyoaks and I wondered with the upcoming cast cull to save money are they going to cut down on extras too? Normally over the course of an episode set in the village square they normally have a few extras walking around in the background or sitting having a chat in the background of The Dog but they could probably save a few quid by just having two or three extras and having them put on a different wig / pair of clothes in each scene. The main story of this episode was Abe sleeping with Theresa after Cleo agreed in the previous episode to experiment with having a monogamous relationship even though Cleo clearly didn't think they were being serious. Upon discovering Abe and Theresa had slept together he told Sally that he thought they should give them some space and I wrote on Twitter that Theresa already gave Abe some space…the space between her legs. Elsewhere Dillon accidentally hit Siennas car when he was having a driving lesson with Tom who it turns out wasn't insured to be a driving instructor so got Dillon to say he was driving to avoid getting in trouble with the insurance. Isn't Tom a multimillionaire? Surely a little bump in his insurance won't make that much of dent in his funds. Following on from the extras idea, another way that they could save money would be if they had all the characters decide that they'd done enough damage to the o-zone layer and get rid of their cars, deciding to just walk everywhere they go from now on and you just never see a car in the village ever again. You could get rid of the clothing department by just having the entire village just randomly decide that they only want to own one pair of clothes from now on and that outfit is all that they ever wear going forward. Shit, why not go the whole hog and just have cutouts of the actors faces printed off, mounted on sticks and you could just turn the show into a giant shitty looking puppet show. Zoe is still hesitant to let Prince get near to her as she doesn't want anyone finding out that her baby is actually his and not Prince's brother Hunter's. There was a bizarre moment near the end where Zoe said to Prince "How long before your family start wondering why you're so invested in this baby Prince?" Uhhh the family will think the kid is his nephew, I think they'll be alright with him being involved in the kid's life

There's Something About Mary (1998, Farrelly Brothers)
24/11/2023
There's Something About Mary is a 1998 film directed by brothers Peter and Bobby Farrelly.
The film marked a turning point in both the careers of the directors and that of the two protagonists: in the United States it increased their popularity, while in the remaining countries it made them known to the general public. Various famous people took part in simple cameos; among them the American football player Brett Favre, the actor Richard Jenkins and the comedian Harland Williams.
The film was released in the United States on July 15, 1998, and in Italy on October 16 of the same year. It won numerous awards - including four MTV Movie Awards and three Teen Choice Awards - and received two Golden Globe nominations in 2000. Furthermore, the American Film Institute placed it twenty-seventh in its list of the best one hundred American comedies of all time. The film grossed almost 370 million dollars worldwide and proved to be both a commercial and critical success, which particularly appreciated the political i correctness constantly present in the film.
In 1985, sixteen-year-old student Ted Stroehmann falls in love with Mary Jensen, a beautiful girl who attends the same high school as him; he manages to impress her when he defends from a bully Warren, the brother of the young girl who is mentally retarded. Shortly thereafter Mary moved to Miami and Ted never had the opportunity to see her again.
In 1998, the now twenty-nine-year-old Ted, a sports writer by profession, continues to undergo various psychoanalysis sessions to try to forget the girl, but with poor results. To make Ted give up, investigator Healy finally tells numerous lies by stating that Mary - although she is not married - has four children, she has gained weight, become disabled and has also left for Japan.
According the co-director and co-writer Bobby Farrelly, the film:
"It's a cross between When Harry Met Sally... And Blazing Saddles."
The spec script of the film was finished in 1998, however it was not used until 1997. In that year Frank Beddor - a friend of the two screenwriters who wanted to become a film producer - was struck by the work and managed to bring it to the attention of the president of 20th Century Fox, Thomas Rothman.
Although the Farrellys were well known in the cinema world after the success of their first film, Dumb and Dumber, they initially thought that There's Something About Mary would be their last work; Kingpin, the project they had previously dedicated themselves to, had in fact proved to be a commercial failure for which thay had not even recovered the production costs.
The photography and editing of the film were entrusted respectively to Mark Irwin and Christopher Greenbury, roles they had also held in previous films directed by the Farrellys. Actor and co-star Matt Dillon praised the Farrellys for the characterization of the characters and the dialogue between them, also appreciating "their very distinctive filmmaking style and the fact that in each of their films there is a truly memorable group of characters".
Bobby and Peter Farrelly were aware that "there had been no R-rated comedies for a long time" and that studios were more inclined to finance films classified as PG-13, i.e. those whose viewing was permitted from thirteen years of age; the directors also added that in the period in which they filmed There's Something About Mary, the normality was given by comedies such as Doctor Dolittle, from which they however wanted to deviate.

taylor johnson 〄 19, hillman university sophomore criminal justice young adult league
also hailing from cavalier cove, brindleton bay, taylor is the child of two veterinarians. he actually did not know lennox before they came to hillman, but instead met her at a party when he started dancing to 'my goodies' by ciara and lennox joined him -- a dance battle ensued. his life was pretty simple growing up, nothing too crazy; he grew up with two dogs, sadie and sally, and an older brother, so life was pretty cozy for him. while his parents would've loved for him to follow in their footsteps and become a veterinarian, taylor genuinely did not like the idea of being a veterinarian. to him, the most painful part of an animal's life is seeing them pass away. did he wanna deal with that?
no.
currently a criminology major, taylor wants to become a deputy sheriff back home in brindleton bay, as he wants to stay closer to his parents for a little while. his parents are a little bit older, so he personally just wants to spend as much time with them as possible before he can't anymore. he is currently apart of hillman's criminal justice young adult league, an organization created for students within the major to congregate, network, and attend events around the city for when they do graduate and make it to the next step in their careers. eventually, he wants to move to san seqouia when he gets more established in his career with his parents since he'll be out of the house by then.
while he focuses the majority of his friendships on lennox, rya, and sage, he has a group of guy friends outside of them that you'll usually catch him with when he isn't with them. which, speaking of, he splits his time pretty evenly between the two separate groups; he leads the most simple life out of the bunch and is usually who they go to besides each other when they're having boy issues. according to them, he understands a man's perspective and will also tell them when they need to stand up and stop being stupid (re: lennox and bryce, sage and dillon).
〄 he does not drink nor smoke, and is usually the designated driver. 〄 what is an apology for $500 alex? taylor is awful at apologies (but he's getting better!). 〄 him and rya have a very interesting relationship; kind of like if toad and toadette were in a constant state of bickering but simultaneously in love while calling each other asshole. 〄 he wants to live a genuinely simple life, and he's fine with that. in his mind, he wants to settle down in the future with a partner, 5 kids, and a huge plot of land in henford. 〄 he trained in jiu jitsu up until the 11th grade. he figured he'd learned all he needed to know and he was fine with that. 〄 if he wasn't going into criminology, he would be going into medicine to become a plastic surgeon. 〄 as far as his sexuality goes, he really doesn't know what label to give himself; he likes women, he's not opposed to the idea of men, and he's not overly hornied out like some of his peers. he thinks he's just...taylor. 〄 please don't ask him how to get somewhere. he has an awful sense of direction. 〄 he was an emt over the summer, which intensified his decision to work as a deputy sheriff later on after he gets his degree. 〄 his favorite food is corn. roasted, on the cob, elote; you name it, he's gonna eat it.
