Love the idea of the songfic! Who'd be Bernie and who Serena?
For the He Set Her Off AU?
I'd go with Serena being the wife who's been cheated on by her husband both because it's closer to canon and bc I can kinda see her burning his house down, sh s fiery you know? XD like yess it happened to her in canon and she didn't flip out, but like. We're talking AU here. Maybe wild west or just small town USA, I don't care that I'm displacing the Brits I just want to fit the vibe of the song xD and like yess Serena would be all proper looking and organized and stuff, maybe a well-known nurse, so I think 'she was the last one in this town we would've thought would snap' still tracks, but also yes she would snap <3
Idk about Bernie, I mean I definitely won't cast her as the cheating husband! Maybe the sheriff who comes to investigate, or just an observer, maybe she's the POV of the song... Either way we're working towards a happy end here <3
Thanks for the ask!
Send me qs about my WIPs or prompt me! :)

Week #39
267. Riddle Basketball: A riddle basketball stadium. The teams each have a dedicated riddler, and each time one of them is stumped, their team gets a free throw. It doesn't make much sense, but it is suspenseful.
268. The Grand Ferry Station: A majestic glass and steel ambibious ship dock. It kinda looks like a trainstation, and it is highly suspicious that it was originally intended as one. The ambhibious ships and their crews look very plucky (and slightly train themed).
269. Achievement Hunter's Trophy Shop: A shop for custom trophies. Most of the trophies Trophymaker Sbek makes are intended for himself, for works well done. And indeed, the trophies he sell gleam like the hearts of heroes.
270. The Museum of Archeology: A museum about famous globe (and space) trotting archeologists. See their humble rise from a wide eyed child into an old professional with tenure! Marvel how some of them manage to go into temples with ancient traps, and usually, leave fully unharmed!
271. Talk To The Hand: A jazz club. Despite its name, its known to be full of handy informants. In fact, most of the clientele is private investigators, selling each other tips.
272. The Dry West: A saloon, in the style of the Dry West. This being the area of Palusylvania that has been ruled by the elves, until they decided to blow it all up and move to Elverest. Its just like one of those Genuine Salloons the freed humans slaves built from the rubble!
273. Junior Handegg Training: A place where the young folks can learn the sport of handegg. Particularly enjoyed by young Firstborn, who being pterodactyls play this sport while flying. The diablopteryx coaches are actually planning to get a grand for the kids for inventing a brand new kind of sport.

On the one hand I miss having the oppurtunity to walk in to a subreddit like a salloon and just shout a post out for everyone to hear without having to know everyone in it. On the other hand I was a lurker on reddit, now have mutuals here, and have directly interacted with our micro celebrities. Thank you all.
ok this is insane but like.. the new tumblrinas are more acclimated to the culture than some normal users. i mean it. like every single reddit refugee post has an INSANELY CLOSE like to reblog ratio and there all mutualing each other and sending each other asks and dms. like wtf. how are you better at this.
in all seriousness i think its because we welcomed them with such feral delight. like every single tumblr user individually saw the reddit refugees and were like "ok listen. we love you honey and hope you're feeling good and here are the instructions" and they did SO MUCH MORE THAN WE THOUGHT THEY WOULD!!! AND NOW ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE HAVING SO MUCH FUN AND IM SO HAPPY FOR THEM!!!!
and also not to keep going but i adore how everyone is so so emotional about this. like every single reddit refugee is like "oh my god why are you so nicee i havent felt this happy in years holy fuckkk..." and were all like "its ok!!! im so glad you are having fun you are doing such a good job yknow? youre perfect at this!!" anyways if YOURE a reddit refugee lets be mutuals

SMOKE ON THE PRAIRIE
Narrative timeline
Opening sequence:
Paul Pickett steals the horse from Orange's ranch whilst working as a farm hand. Anders Busch shoots Tiny Ron over a poker game, inside one of Orange's bars. Emmet Frisco bargains with his cellmate, and is broken free from the jail moments before his public hanging.
ACT 1
All three outlaws face the hangman's noose, they compete over fame, theatrically performing anecdotes to justify their fame. Orange's men storm the hanging and steal the three outlaws away from their untimely fate.
They wake up at the beginning of the prairie, all in seperate pillories. Before disserting them, Orange reveals that they must deliver the contraband over the praire by a weeks time. Once he's gone, the three outlaws bicker over who will lead them over the prairie, who will pull the cart, and who will stand guard at the back, whilst struggling free from the pillories. Pickett wins as he claims to be familiar with their destination.
Emmet Frisco's anecdote: hammering nails into the skulls of wealthy businessmen on a steam train. His story is interrupted.
Persons family, rascal desert rats with shotguns insist the outlaws hand over the loot. Managing to outmart them and escape, the outlaws begin to get along, joking about their mutual humour of the children with shotguns.
Busch's anecdote: He sits in Tiny Ron's bar, waiting for Sheriff Lindsay Gibbins and his men. After being framed for the murder of his wife and newborn by Gibbins, No Name has been a busy boy, building up the baddest rep in the west, hoping Gibbins would come searching for him. They discuss Busch's plan to meet him in the mud for a final gun-sling duel, Busch leaves Gibbins in the bar and kills all his men outside as a warning. Gibbins rushes to the salloon door to find them all on the ground by their unsettled steeds.
They pass a brothel, both Busch and Pickett are enthusiastic, Frisco is apprehensive to stop their journey and his history with whore hosue bodes badly. The madame pairs them up, Pickett and Drisco are heard getting thrown about by their girls. The brothel is raided by Sheriff Gibbins, urging the outlaws to narrowly escape after a crazy brawl scene. Music playing, whore screaming ans getting shot, glasses smashing.
Narrowly escaping the brothel, the outlaws ride out further into the prairie. Busch halts his horse and colapses against a rock, looking out over the heatwaves of the prairie. The other outlaws follow his gaze to a spot in the red mud, where the sunrise beams a golden crack over the prairie. A ballet dancer appears on the heatwaves, they all watch her, teary eyed.
Four days of silence, montage as they continue their journey appreciating the scenery of the prairie; them sheltering from the rain under a shelter, smoke pouring out of the hole in Pickett's hat, them sat around the campfire in silence.
Finally, breaking the silence, Paul Pickett's backstory is revealed as he tells the outlaws his anecdote around the fire. His story is presented; looking considerably younger, we see him row a fishing biat out into the middle of a lake. He inhales deeply before dumping a body over the side, a burning barn smokes behind him. The two outlaws sit gobsmacked at Pickett's story.
ACT 2
The three outlaws arrive at the town, finding it empty and unnerving. Untrusting, Impacience pulls Pickett and Busch past a hesitant Frisco, eagerly opening the contraband chest to reveal hundreds of femented, rotten red apples, ripe from the bliste3ring sun they'd been travelling under all week. Pickett's eyes follow a stray apple as it rolls rowards the sooty frame of a barn by the lake; it becomes clear that this is the ranch from the beginning of the film and Paul Pickett's anecdote.
Frisco pulls out his pistol out "I told you not to break the rules", but is interrupted by the ricochette of bullets dancing and pinging about the three outlaws. Orange and his men gallop into the town, firing at the outlaws as they dive for cover by the carriage.
Orange speaks about their debt, speaks about Paul Pickett's past, slightly brushing on his history at the ranch. He introduces Sheriff Gibbins and his men, announcing their execution and realeaving a final secret: as the bullets continue to rain into the frame of the cart, Frisco walks through the bullets unharmed by Orange's men, revealing his true intentions as a spy anda miscreant of orange's empire.
As Pickett and Frisco ready themsleves to duel, Pickett insisits on an explaination and we see a flashback of Frisco's opening sequence extended. The cellmate that agrees to break him out works for Orange, Orange recognsises Frisco's attitude and plots to have him guid the two outlaws into the trap, ensuring they arrive over the prairie instead of running off with the loot.
Pickett vs Frisco. An emotional final moment, Pickett remains stoic as he draws first and shoots frisco. Frisco's body drifts away into the pond.
During Pickett and Frisco's duel, Busch is met with Sheriff Lindsay Gibbins for their long-awaited duel; Gibbins tests Busch's focus, speaking about his wife and newborn that had their lives take mercilessly. Busch brutally murders Gibbins, ignoring the formalities of a gun-sling and leaves him a bloody, mutulated corpse.
Pickett and Busch bring their skills together, hungry for the hunt of Orange after all he's put them through. Orange taunts Pickett as more backstory is revealed; flashback is presented as Paul Pickett gets in a brawl with a fellow farmhand, in a druken state the farmhand knocks a lantern and sets the barn aflame. The brawl continues and leads to young Pickett accidently murdering the farmhand. Covering his tracks, Pickett dumped the body in the lake and stole a horse, just as scared boy running away. The two outlaws kill Orange in a dramatic and satisfying ending.
Orange's men disperse as the two outlaws casually swagger unto the clearing holding Orange's hat and pistol. They both give a cold but meaningful goodbye.
No Name's ending.
Paul Pickett watches as Cheyanne the horse gallops swiftly away and into the prairie, he doesn't chase after him but watches him emotionless
The end.

good morning Hannah nation, time to finish Book 4. context is in the first post, check the through the first tag
Book 4 - Europe in the 17th and 18th centuries - society, power and colonial dynamics.
Part 3 - Construction of European modernity
Due to the work of a multitude of different scientists, all under the belief that knowledge contributes to the betterment of Humanity, the Scientific Revolution took place.
Francis Bacon created the experimental method, still in use today; René Descartes created the bases of rationalist thinking; William Harvey discovered how the circulatory system works; Galileu Galilei confirmed that the Earth orbited around the Sun; Johannes Kepler proved planets orbit in an elliptic orbit; and Isaac Newton created the Universal Law of Gravity.
All of these new discoveries completely changed old beliefs about Man and Nature, and many academies, with modern laboratories, frequently published their new discoveries.
Alongside the Scientific Revolution came the age of Enlightenment, that believed in equality(all people are born with certain rights given by Nature), popular sovereignty(any power depends on the will of the people) and separation of powers(the three government powers, executive, legislative and judicial must be seperate and equal).
These ideas were spread all over, through aristocratic salloons or in academies, but the most impactful mean was the Encyclopedia, also known as the Rational Dictionary of Science, of Art and of Crafts. They permited an easy acess to the quick advancements in science and Enlightened ideals.
the last part of this book was pretty short, see you in the next one!

You're so right. the sex industry is lucrative and fast money. Since the Du Lacs were months from bankruptcy an honest business was not going to cut it. He even says that his little corner grocery stores weren't making enough. And I'll bet getting that kind of big money that fast while also being the token/pet black was addictive.
he needed to get rich fast cuz his family was also unaware of how close to bankruptcy they were. i wouldnt say he liked being the token black person more than he liked the power n psychosexual performance of controlling what these rich white men have sexual access to. “the product was desire” his modern self says. and he was the plug. re: his fixation on acquiring the fairplay salloon in ep1-2 is motivated by that & etc etc etc. ep1 when lestat is like “u made me buy a townhouse in the quarter” louis is like “i know men of my race look the same to u ppl but i aint sell u no house” & as soon as he becomes a vampire in ep2 he kills the assessor (?) for calling him a “good negro”. lestat is a french white man he knows little about here other than this guy has more things than me & hes feeling up on lily while staring at me. i wanna be him , kill him, and REDACTED by him. it unnerved him bc lestat was likening him to lily in that moment of sexual tension. translating lestat’s sentence, snarking at him off the jump, then being mesmerized by him not to put my ship goggles on [for a canon ship ik lol] is a rly gr8 way to set up the lxl dynamic n how louis operates. show louis is someone with sum i deem interpersonal racial pride. he interacts with his particular black classed community of his era n shows a perfectly respectable face in the eyes of the black church, his baby sister w the tickets up the garvey line, but everybody know where that money come from& r perfectly fine eating off its benefits. louis strategizing to get ahead at the expense of the black ‘collective’ outside of his immediate network. claudia would be someone outside of that as a poor black girl. shes the type of girl louis couldve .. well. lets just say, the fact that louis saved claudia in the midst of the race riot n losing his family , their shared tie of being made immortal by lestat & decades of living with lestat brought this temporary show of solidarity in the murder plot btwn lou+clauds that otherwise may have not have been there had claudia & louis met in a diff situation n show potential to go a lot of places in parts of s2 when lestat is out the picture. anyways. louis is not a self loathing black man n he hates being the token, but he was hardly a paragon of racial solidarity in s1. n he was always aware that his privileges were extremely conditional & dependent on how much of himself he was able to comparmentalize in situations where he did not have the upper hand and had to put aside his pride. what better to set up a certain kind of person whod favor eternal life, than a suicidal bougie boule opportunist of a black gay man whos aspects of himself all existed on different bookshelves.. who had to lie about his family’s financial condition to them, who tries to maintain this double life even with newly bestowed immortality. hes not grovelling at tom or fenwick’s feet, he plays the game to stay afloat but despises having to smile in their face. thats why when hes a vampire & the laws r discriminating against him hes so much more transparent in showing how he feels about them. all that pentup aggression he felt as the only black man in those rooms is the fuel for why he gored fenwick& ripped up toms jaw. i think 1x01 louis was actually at a breaking point but 1x02-beginning of 1x03 b4 the vampire starvation shit louis was rly feeling himself when the dough was rolling in. he has the fairplay salloon, he has lestat, he can ‘control’ what white people have sexual access to. but all that crumbles…
