There is never too many Majima sketches to dump on you

playing yakuza 3 for the first time and wow I didn't realize this game was so nostalgic for me

course gameplay aside but it's strange to see how similar okinawa is to vietnam. theyre both small islands with really chill locals and the marketplace feels just like the malls and fruit stands all around ho chi min city. the way everyone treats the ryudo family reminded me of how my own family in vietnam treated me when I was little

okinawa feels like home despite me never being there and all the things I've heard about y3 being bad. its charming for a game like this, surprisingly

my friend and I have a headcanon that yuki, after denouncing the golden majima statue as tacky and awful but realizing it’s not going anywhere, starts to use it as a coat rack and puts her jackets, scarves, hats, etc on it whenever she feels like it. when he complains she says “well at least that 10 billion yen can be useful for something.”

then eventually it just ends up being a full-blown mannequin the girls dress up for different holidays and seasons. it’s got a santa hat, coat, and string lights on christmas and they put their presents for one another under it like a christmas tree.

on new years saki’s lent it one of her brothers’ old kimonos and ai makes it a cute little floral headdress. she makes a real one to match and doesn’t let majima weasel his way out of wearing it. (he refuses to admit it but when she does his hair up with it and they all tell him he looks really pretty he tears up and nearly cries.)

when the girls finally figure out when majima’s birthday is after a collective effort of snooping, trickery, and trying to brute force pry it out of him– they give the statue a party hat and a feather boa and use it as a prop when they surprise him with a party.

sometime during the summer it’s got a sunhat, arm floaties, and a towel (hibiki originally tied on a bikini, but majima made her change it after a day of getting weird looks from customers).

on halloween it’s got ghoulish tattered robes and a hannya mask (one of the few things borrowed from majima himself), and one hand has a bucket of candy hanging from it for anyone who comes and goes to take from.

and so on and so on.

this guide wants me to tell one of the hostesses to "work every day" and she is legitimately sad when i tell her she shouldn't, but my hand to heart i could not make myself tell anyone to work every day, even in a video game. develop an interior life, saki! dream of things beyond your labor!

it's kinda funny that everyone thinks of everyone at the morning glory orphanage as kids given almost all them if not all of them are adults now, with most being in their 20s
