2.16.24 // creative burnout

i don't even know if i have the right to say i have creative burnout when i wasn't creating that much to begin with. i do consider myself and artist and a creative, but actually creating things was scarce. i would love to write more, i would love to draw and paint more, i would love to make music, but even thinking of doing any of that seems exhausting.

i think the issue lies in my overwhelming desire for what i create to have attention and traction. for it to be pursued as content rather than art. something for people to consume, not something passionate i shared. i focused so hard on trying to be considered a content creator that i lost the actual passion i had to create. i hope i can gain that passion back. i hope others who feel the same can too.

in case anyone was wondering where I disappeared to for the past few days, i've been going insane again. fun fact staring at stained glass windows for hours on end will not turn you catholic (source: i stared at so many stained glass windows to make this bc i really wanted to go for a realistic church window sort of vibe)

This will sound like I’m sucking my own dick but when I’m done with someone it usually is for very very very good reason bc it takes me a lot to break it off w anyone in my life. Like to a fault. Like I will cling on to things that have long passed their expiration date. So maybe this year it’s time to learn that if I’m at a breaking point w someone maybe that’s for the best and I shouldn’t spend weeks grieving them and introspecting and journaling about them when they haven’t held themselves accountable in all the time I’ve known them
