I have uploaded creditless versions of all the 90s Sailor Moon openings! I've also included AI upscaled versions of the OPs. Unfortunately, Toei has not properly cared for the masters of Sailor Moon (not to mention that the 90s anime was broadcast during the SD era, not HD) and as a result the video quality is somewhat poor compared to anime openings you see nowadays.
There have been fan efforts to restore and upgrade footage of Sailor Moon (including the OPs), but I just included videos that were ripped directly/upscaled from ripped videos.

Just a heads up, I'm going to be absolutely insufferable about the Red River reprint from here on out
Will try to tag it in with anatolia story (bc there's a movie also called red river that's entirely unrelated) in case anyone wants to not be subjected to it but some stuff may slip through

How would you have handled the onigiri/"jelly donuts" thing in the English Pokemon dub?
Serious answer, if I were a serious localizer trying to do the best job possible? “Rice balls” or possibly “dumplings.” Both would have at least been believable as a food the kids would be eating for lunch (because they WERE eating lunch, not dessert) to the average American kid in the 90s even if said kid wouldn’t have eaten them for lunch themselves, and both are closer to what they actually are. Would probably lean towards ‘dumplings’ because while a 90s American kid could easily parse what a ‘rice ball’ probably is, most kids at the time would have encountered dumplings at a Chinese takeout place at least once in their lives, even in the South where ‘dumplings’ can also refer to a different food. Tl;dr rice balls is more accurate but dumplings aren’t too much of a stretch and are more likely to be something the target audience has encountered, plus they are more believable than jelly donuts as something you would eat for a meal or healthy snack.
Real answer, as in what I personally would choose? “Jelly donuts.” It may have been a silly choice, but you don’t mess with a classic, and besides, nothing beats a jelly filled donut ;P

“I actually like DIC/Cloverway Sailor Mercury more than her original dub counterpart. Yes, both Amy and Ami are still generally the same character (intelligent, sweet, tranquil, etc.). but when it always came down to it, Amy was always the one to savagely call out someone for their immaturity lmao. Like how she told Raye off about bullying/pushing Serena, telling her to grow up and get a life (which even though I think Amy was a bit harsh with, Raye honestly deserved it at the time imo). Or when the girls were gossiping about Lita and Amara’s encounter, Amy shouts “ENOUGH, GROW UP ALREADY!”. It’s just moments like that is what made me enjoy her a little more in the old dub.
It puts a little more “bite and sass” into her character. She’s a perfect example of the meme “No, I’m not tired of being nice, but yes, I wanna go apeshit”. I still enjoy the Viz dub of Ami because it’s a lot closer to the original Japanese dub, but I just like how DIC/Coverway put more into Ami’s character other than the typical meek and timid, but sweet and intelligent nerd type.”
