you really need to raise your standards for what's considered "a phrase" because if it only makes sense in the specific context of the post it was originally found in and it isn't repeatable in other situations, that's not a phrase that has entered the lexicon, that's just something someone said one time.

What doesn't alter your vocabulary may alter, or may have already altered, someone else's. This is not about adding to The General Lexicon - I have an entire tag for things that change this site as a whole, which has a higher bar; this is largely about novelty and humor. This is us curb-stomping whatever the fuck we want into the right form for our needs, whatever those needs may be, including altering aspects of the phrase to fit the necessary format or context. It's a linguistic shotgun.

Damian scowled. “Are you deaf Drake? Grandmother is coming to Gotham to, quote, make sure I am being properly cared for.” None of them had known that Ras was with anyone actually. At least Tim was pretty sure that would have been in the files. 

“Oh?” Dick didn’t quite crouch to Damian’s height but it was a near thing. “She-” “He,” Damian corrected, interrupting him. They all exchanged a glance before Dick continued. 

“Is he coming to the Manor or…” 

Damian scoffed again, a tiny bit of a flush against his face. “No, Grandmother will most likely be staying with Akhi-”

again idk if this has been said before but i love the lucanis approval when you're going after zara and illario meets you half way. lucanis is trying to get him to fuck off but illario ignores him and addresses rook, flirts w them, tells them that they should let him give them a tour. and when they also tell him to fuck off cause their honey said so, lucanis likes it. he follows up with "this isn't your job, there's no one you can charm into dropping their guard". and idk it kind of reminds me of the comment lucanis makes during the coffee date cutscene where he says smth along the lines of "even before i was captured, most things were determined for me" and adding that w the implication of illario absolutely hating when attention isn't on him paired with his resentment toward lucanis for being their grandmother's favorite AND lucanis telling emmerich that he "doesn't have illario's gift for flirting" like idk i imagine illario poaching any person he sensed lucanis had even a passing interest in just cause he's a spiteful mf

so here "there's no one you can charm" = "this one is mine, they won't fall for it"

i just think the mutual possessiveness is neat :)

don't let your priorities get out of whack. don't go out and buy luxury items or a fancy new car if you have other things to do like make sure your health is right (regular checkups, full panel bloodwork, the dentist, etc.), getting your dream body, paying off high interest debt, working on your career and education, and investing aggressively (especially if you're in your 20s, this is the best decade for compound growth). it's very tempting to buy things for instant gratification (speaking from personal experience!) but the joy you feel doesn't last long. If I could do it again, I would use big ticket items like bags, nice clothes, silk scarves, huge extravagant trips, cars, jewelry, etc. as a reward for when I hit other milestones, such as graduating college, getting a job that skyrockets your income, hitting a certain number in investment accounts or business profits, hitting your goal weight, etc. and trust me, you will value it a lot more when you have put in the work to set yourself up for success.

*otome game is story-based romance video game targeted towards women with a female protagonist as the player character

A few chinese rappers who are popular in incel community started picking on female players, and they uploaded the raps on NetEase Music, the largest music platform in China. The game these rappers started out targeting was Love and Deepspace. They mock and humiliate the main characters and players as far as they can. The players were furious, both sides went to war, the incel group joined in, the battle intensified, there were many top trendings on weibo, douyin, xiaohongshu etc. and the rappers achieved their hype and were very pleased with themselves. (Other normal rappers didn't participate.）The war quickly spread to other popular otome games aka yiyou乙游 companies in chinese. All chinese otome games and players are cyber bullied by these rappers and incels.

Then suddenly an official account of a relatively not-so-famous-but-also-has-valid-userbase otome game For all time/Lovebrush Chronicles (时空中的绘旅人, HLR, nickname little conch meat) posted: I accidentally heard the rap, it's too gross, all taken down now.

Then cnetizens found that, NetEase Music, the largest music platform in China, removed all of the above rappers' works lol. Turns out HLR is developed by NetEase Games, the online games division of NetEase, one of China's Internet giants like Tecent. And the rappers legitimately get canceled and blocked forever by NetEase Music.

At eighteen he has twenty tattoos, all done by either himself or a random stranger at a party. He's never at home, always crashing on the couch of a friend of a friend. He could go to any college he wants, but he wants to just be left alone.

At twenty he moves out of his hometown and never looks back. He doesn't pack, just buys a shitty car and drives until it breaks down. He uses the leftover money he has to put a deposit down on a shitty studio apartment.

At twenty-one he gets a job at the local bar and meets Regulus Black, who then introduces him to Evan Rosier.

At twenty-two he has a best friend and a boyfriend. He still gets tattoos in basements but this time they're courtesy of his friends who need someone to practice on for their apprenticeships. He still parties and crashes on couches but he knows the brand of the alcohol he's drinking and the couch has been made up just for him.

His life is average, but it's better than it ever has been.
