Next up in the Juvia’s Place eyeshadow palette try out is The Saharan II. This palette contains 9 shadow with a mixture of metallic, duo chromes, and matte shades that were inspired by the rich colors in Moroccan spices, herbs, cities, and rich patterns. Like the other palettes in their collection this one costs $20. This palette is also vegan so I don’t know remember if it’s on the packaging that this palette came it as I got rid of it, but vegan red tones can dye the skin due to the dye/pigment in the shadow.
All of the shades in the palette are stunning but a great range from vibrant or more neutral looks. Though I have not done a neutral look as I like the vibrant tones from this palette. Like some of the other palettes from Juvia’s Place, they are larger with 3.6 grams of product in each pan. However, it’s not the smallest palette even though it only has 9 shadows so it’s not the best for traveling. It can be done but it is bigger than a Colourpop 9-pan palette. I haven’t mentioned it in previous reviews but all of their palettes have stunning illustrations and are made of a sturdy cardboard.
Like the other palettes the mattes are insanely pigmented and take a hot minute to blend. But they still look stunning on the lids, as long as you use a packing brush. And yes, I actually remembered to use a blending brush for the brush swatches this time since that’s the best for these matte shades. The metallics and duo-chrome shadows are buttery like the other palettes. I seriously am still blown away with the quality of these palettes and I can’t wait to play with the rest.
Shade Descriptions:
Marrakesh (shimmer golden peach)
Aziza (shimmer medallion)
Hadiya (shimmer rust)
Berber (shimmer french blue)
Nomad (shimmer maroon)
Chefchaouen (shimmer turquoise)
Fez (matte sienna)
Zohra (matte sangria)
Taza (natte gingerbread)
Swatches
Finger Swatches
Brush Swatches using a fluffy angled brush (Luxie 207 – Medium Angled Shading Brush)
The metallics and duo-chromes don’t look the best with the fluffy brush, but you can see the mattes perform better with this style of brush unlike the packing brush. If you want to see how that generally goes with this formula check out one of my previous two Juvia’s Place reviews: The Nubian 2 or The Warrior palette.
Looks
This look was made using almost every single shadow in the palette including two of the ColourPop Supernova liquid shadows: Dragon and LOML. I think the only shade not used in this look was Hadiya. Maybe was a bit much for Thanksgiving but I still loved it. I also used the Azeredo Cosmetics false lashes in the style Hollywood (use code MAE10 for 10% off).
Here was the second look from this palette. Not a major fan of my hair, but that has nothing to do with the makeup. For this look I used the shades: Marrakson, Aziza, Hadiya, Nomad, Fez, Zohra, and Taza. Which is a similar look to the look I did with The Nubian 2 palette, but more vibrant and not having blue shade underneath. I mainly just wanted to use the shade I didn’t use the previous day, so I ended up doing this staple halo look.
Love ya,
Mae Polzine

Makeup for Magick/Ritual p6: Mabon - The Autumn Equinox
Looks like it's time for a couple of late as eff posts! Starting with Mabon! Berries, greens, browns, golds, oranges, purples, reds... if it's on the trees or in a stereotypical cornucopia, it's fair game.
Tumblr media
Am I using a backup altar cloth for a backdrop? Why yes, yes I am. Onto the palettes.
Let’s start with our lord and savior, Colourpop!
Tumblr media
As far as monochromatic palettes go, I’d reach for the It’s My Pleasure palette (for some of the deeper purples), Main Squeeze (especially that bottom row), Orange You Glad?, Uh-Huh Honey (for more gold-yellows), and Just My Luck (for the darker and more olive-toned greens). And the last 9-pan on the list, the Frozen II: Anna palette’s berries, gold and warm neutrals makes it a good choice for Mabon. Also, this goes without saying, but fuck pressed glitters.
Dream St. is more of an honorable mention. It wouldn’t be my first pick, but the deeper teals and warm bronze-y shades would fit pretty well.
The Zodiac palette is the better Kathleen Lights collab for fall, by far. If you cover up those two blues, the berries/oranges/golds make for a goidv fall leaf color palette.
Yes, Please!, the OG Colourpop palette. Though it’s more summery, the deeper reds and oranges would need good to reach for.
Since the Good Sport palette no longer exists (how very dare you, ColourPop?!), I’d say the Whatever palette is the ideal warm-toned CP fall palette. Other than the pressed glitter, the reds/reddish-browns/rich red-oranges, all the warm fall tones in one palette. 90% of what’s on the New England leaf-peeping trees is in this palette.
Next, Give Me Glow and ABH.
Tumblr media
The GMG Juicy Olive palette’s murkier greens are good “fall harvest” greens. I kind of want to try pairing it with the warmer shimmers in the Whatever palette, now…
The GMG Grunge palette is loaded down with good cool tone and warm tone mattes. The purple/berry shades the cool/warm browns and the charcoal black all would be good to reach for for Mabon if you have it.
The ABH Modern Renaissance’s reds and oranges are good for a more toned down colorful looks, while the Soft Glam’s rich, warm browns and bronzes make for a good fall palette for people who don’t do color.
Now for BH Cosmetics…
Tumblr media
The Naughty Palette (bottom center) was last year’s holiday palette. Other than the two pressed glitters, it has pumpkin oranges, purples, and reds - and the duochrome “Spiked Cider” - fit the Equinox perfectly and can honestly bring you all the way through Imbolc.
Love in London (bottom left) - Yes, it’s very neutral. I know. But I’d be a bad friend if I didn’t tell you that the bottom row (except Crumpet), and the lovely metallic gold and dark purple, when used together make a very pretty fall look. Okay, moving on.
Chillin’ in Chicago/Amore in Amalfi (top left) - This is here solely because I liked the red/orange/brown fall look I got with it when I paired it with the rich reds, oranges, orange toned browns, and almost plum purples of the Beautiful in Barcelona palette (top center).
Avocado Toast (top right) - Really only here for the darker/earthier greens and warm browns.
Passion in Paris (bottom right) - Although this is definitely more wintery, the reds in the bottom row and the dark purple shimmer and black in the row above it could make a good cool toned fall look.
On to Juvia’s Place.
Tumblr media
First the three mini palettes in the bottom, left to right:
The Chocolates, The Berries, The Violets - The deeper purples in The Violets, The Chocolates’ warm browns, and The Berries’ fall… berries. I’d personally use these with each other, or as companion palettes, instead of on their own if I were to reach for them.
The Saharan (top left) - Fiery fall leaf oranges, reds and golds, the deep green metallic… if you ignore the pinks, it’s a pretty good pick overall
Afrique (center left) - Although the gold and jewel tones in this palette are better suited for Yule, the color story could make for a nice fall/harvest look if you take out the blues.
The Nubian 2 (top center) - On the earth toned, non leaf-peepers side of the equinox: golds, browns, that herb green and eggplant purple… honestly it’s straight out of a cornucopia.
The Tribe (center) - Early fall leaves? Butternut squash? Pumpkins? Honestly, this is the perfect color story for any of those Mabon, fall equinox vibes.
The Nomad (top right) - With the earth toned yellows, golds and greens, this could bring you from Lammas to Mabon, but I’d probably pair it with another palette. Maybe The Tribe.
The Warrior (center right) - Earthy browns and golds for days!
Now for the single palette brands.
Tumblr media
Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol. 3 - This was brought out as Norvina’s fall palette, and everyone was saying that it was way too bright to be for fall. Except it’s not? The reds, greens and yellows are all very “apple picking”, the oranges, browns, and greens are very “fall leaves in New England”.
Urban Decay Born to Run Palette - this was toted as “the only palette you need to pack” if you travel. If it’s the fall, maybe. Even the blues are “fall sky” blue.
Midas Cosmetics Artistry Volume 2 - This little 6-pan is very “fall botanical”. You’ve harvested a bunch of plants/herbs and they’re now hanging up, drying.
Alien Cosmetics (now Unearthly Cosmetics) Fairy Frolic Palette - With the honey golden-orange metallic, the bronze metallic and the red/purple/orange multichrome, along with the mattes, it definitely gives a “changing leaves” vibe.
Shroud Cosmetics Arcana Palette - Mystic and Alchemy are a bit more jewel toned, but the rest of the palette is more dark earthy toned.
Time for the single shadows!

Eyeshadow- Luminous from the Aurora Lights Palette by BH Cosmetics (no longer sold) on and above the lid, High Score from the Fun Size Palette by Sugarpill to blend out Luminous, and lastly, Marrakesh from the Saharan II Palette by Juvia’s Place to blend everything out even better.

Now I remember why I don’t use this eyeliner much. 😅 You need a very steady hand and it’s waterproof so there is a LOT of tugging at the skin to get it off (I even used oil to help loosen it and it barely did anything to help).

Makeup for Magick/Ritual p4: Litha - The Summer Solstice
Now that I no longer feel like lifeless goop, lets get this show back n the road! Litha! I originally waited so long to write this back in June because I was waiting for the Summer Goth Palette from Baby Bat Beauty to show up (it's even got a shade named Litha!). The have cool highlighters and the few metallic/shimmer single shadows I tried were good, but that palette was a nah.
Anyway, Litha, the Summer Solstice. The longest day and shortest night of the year, where we honor the Sun at it's highest point of power. At the same time, we honor the water as this is the time of year when we are drawn most to it, whether we're drinking it (stay hydrated!) or swimming in it. Yellows, bright golds, warm orange-reds, and blue/sea blues are good colors to reach for. However, bright rainbow colors carry over from Beltane. Think of the Sun's bright light filtering through a prism in a window and scattering rainbows all over the room.
Tumblr media
The warm nude and rainbow palettes of Beltane are still in play, so I wont be including them in the list. Not my best photo shoot...
First! Tarte!
Tumblr media
Tartelette Toasted Palette - It's really the perfect palette for that orange-red, fiery-nude, sun-scorched eye look that seems to be so popular at Litha (on social media, at least).
Be A Mermaid and Make Waves Palette - Fun fact, you can still buy this palette on the Tarte website, but you gotta use the search bar to find it. A good chunk of these shades a rose/nude rose shade of some kind, but no surprise. It's Tarte. HOWEVER! Some of the shimmers in this palette 1) would be really nice for a solstice eye look and 2) are just really pretty in general. "Shell Yeah" and "Mermosa" if you're leaning towards more Sun worship. "Lagoon", "Splash", and "Bubbles" are great for a look leaning more towards water and the sea. "Splash" and "Bubbles" are duochromes that make for a really nice single shadow look, as well.
BH Cosmetics is next!
Tumblr media
Hangin' in Hawaii - One of the first Travel Series palettes I bought, specifically for the purpose of being my "light and airy" summer nudes palette. Is it my favorite BH palette? No, but I figured I'd toss it in.
Summer in St. Tropez - If you have this palette, you can definitely get a somewhat decent sun/water eye look from it. Maybe play with the two topper shades up in the top row to add something to it.
Trendy in Tokyo - Obligatory rainbow palette. Mhmm.
Chillin' in Chicago - Now called Amore in Amalfi, because BH are a bunch of cheeky little shites. This palette can lean Summer or Fall, depending on what other palette you pair it with. If you don't want to drop a crap ton of money on the Tartelette Toasted palette, this can give you a somewhat similar look. They're not dupes, not by a long shot, but they can give you that similar "sun-scorched" vibe.
Mimosa - If you already have this, you can get a good summer-sun yellow-orange look out of it.
Now for Give Me Glow!
Tumblr media
Summer Vibes - This is an amazing go-to summer palette, solstice and beyond. Summery neutrals, sunny yellows and oranges, and a couple of nice ocean-blues. The metallic blue, "Summer Fling", has a really nice "Sun reflecting on the ocean" look to it. A bunch of the shades make great summer blushes too. If this palette is every discontinued, I'm buying backups!
Pastel Dreams - These brighter pastels can give off "sun bleached" vibes. Just as appropriate as bright rainbow colors.
Extra Spicy - Perfect for a brighter, more fiery-sun look.
Time for Juvia's Place!
Tumblr media
The Masquerade Mini - The blues and green-blue in the top row, paired with the warm brown in the bottom two rows can make a decent "seashore" look that I like on solstice, usually with a pop of yellow in the inner corner.
The Zulu - A more summery rainbow palette. The turquoise shades are beauty!
The Afrique - Obligatory rainbow palette with a nice pop of gold.
The Saharan II - Does the same "Seashore" type of look as Masquerade, except you can go lighter. If I had to make a list of favorite summer palettes, this would be on it.
And now, ABH and Norvina!
Tumblr media
Norvina Pro Pigment Palette Vol 2 - A decent amount of blues and couple of yellows if that's what your missing in your solstice look.
ABH Modern Renaissance - When I paired the matte pinky-reds with the gold shimmer, the first thing I thought was "Midsummer Fairy". And so, it made the list.
ABH Rivera - The colors in this palette lean more sun-bleached than a typical colorful palette. And again, I consider it appropriate for the sabbat.
"Our lord and savior, ColourPop!" - Theresa is Dead
Tumblr media
Limoncello - It's yellow-toned neutral palette with a pop of green and a pop of blue. If you're leaning towards a more yellow-sun look, it's great! but if you wanna make a water-blue look, you're gonna need another palette. It's so damn pretty though. And the shade "Easy Peasy" is a dupe for the duochrome in the Natasha Denona Zendo palette.
Yes, Please! - I'd say stick to the first three columns for sunny, fiery Litha goodness, and pull in the last darker column for Mabon, but that's just me.
Dream St. - You know those scenes in movies, where they're trying to convey how sweltering hot it is by putting a sorta sepia filter over everything, and filming it through the heat waves coming off of the hood of a truck? Yeah, that's this palette. It always gave off that sort of summer vibe to me. So in the "sun-scorched" category, I guess?
As for specific CP monochromatic palettes; Blue Moon and Uh-Huh Honey are excellent blue and yellow palettes for water and sun looks. Also, fuck that yellow pressed glitter.
On to the solo palettes!
Tumblr media
Urban Decay Beached Palette - Though it's got a couple ocean blues, it's better for the sun-scorched eye look.
Glamlite Ice Cream Dream Palette - A brighter pastel rainbow palette, and some shades can read 'sun-bleached", so that works great!
Too Faced Life's a Festival Palette - A bunch of fun, summery duochromes and shimmers, though the more yellow "Fun in the Sun" and "Beamin'" would be the ones I reach for for Litha.
Now the single shadows!
Tumblr media
The top five are from Shroud Cosmetics. The middle three are from Terra Moons Cosmetics. And the bottom seven are from Looxi Beauty. As you can tell, my singles lean more towards watery blue-greens and less towards the for fiery sun colors.
Shroud Cosmetics
Ignite (fiery copper)
Vigil (yellow-gold)
Oracle (champagne gold)
Sea of Ghosts (a denim blue-based shimmer with a gold/green shift)
Azura (teal blue with a green shift)
Terra Moons Cosmetics
Skyfall (sky blue with a silver and lavender duochrome)
Meteorite (a golden, pink shimmer with hints of green)
Festival (vivid blue with gold shifts)
Looxi Beauty
Sleep Forever (turquoise blue)
Nectar (golden yellow with shifts of green, blue, and orange)
Catty-Pillar (orange with shifts of pink, teal, gold, and purple)
Dream On (aqua blue with a silver sheen)
Siren of the Sea (aqua, blue, green, and gold)
Slurp! (turquoise with a slight green shift)
Donner (blue with gold reflect)
Now onto the Give Me Glow singles. I'm doing something a bit different this time. Here's the concept:
All of my eyeshadow palettes have mysteriously disappeared and all I have left are my GMG singles. Now I have to use only those singles to curate a palette for the holiday. So mu curated GMG Litha palette is:
Tumblr media
First (Top) Row: TBT, Fierce, Sweet Tea, Cream Lace, Cream Please
Second Row: Chili, West Coast, Spiked Punch, Havana, Peach Glaze
