going a bit insane thinking about how jared said “sam doesn’t use his brawn and size to save the day but he wants to restrain that power” and how there’s so many canon examples. how sam usually tries to be smaller and less intimidating because he doesn’t want to scare people who are not monsters and especially how he makes himself smaller when dean manhandles him or hugs him. sam has spent his whole life feeling like a freak and his very body makes him stand out. it’s almost like he doesn’t want to be in his body. his body only reaches it’s full potential when there’s someone else in it: the way possessed sam uses his body is the complete opposite of unpossessed sam’s body language. the way meg!sam uses his body strength to his advantage. the way lucifer!sam straightens. but sam wants to be in a smaller, softer, less intimidating body. he doesn’t want to catch people’s eyes. he wants to be small and unassuming and above all safe

I love sub!Sam content, I do, but I also love the idea that Sam is actually an amazing dom. He's gentle, but he has all the control—something his real life usually lacks—he's commanding but not mean, he can see all the signs of his sub being on the edge of what's comfortable.

Similarly, Dean wants to let someone else be in charge, for someone to take the reigns and tell him what to do, to stop having to be the only leader. it just occurred to me that some of you might have missed seeing american football player joe burrow’s suit this past june during paris fashion week, and it is my personal opinion that everyone see these images at least once in their lifetime, especially those of us with a shared interest in slutty clothes on men (fictional or otherwise). so here they are.

honestly it’s hard to imagine dean being a subtop with men, much less a bottom. his interactions with women and men are vastly different (also it should be taken into account that he’s straight and likely homophobic in canon). i do think the reason why it’s a majorly accepted headcanon that he’d be the ultimate subby bottom with women and men is because his violent side & craving for control are mostly ignored by the fandom. actually it’s quite realistic for him to prefer to let women take the lead because he canonically finds fem doms hot but also it has a lot to do with his mother dying very early on, he needs to find some sort of comfort from a woman that he didn’t ever find with his mother. sex with men would be very likely the opposite (especially when it comes to fucking his little brother whom he wants to possess). canon dean is mostly violent with other men, so it’d be about letting out his repressed violent tendencies and establishing control. also one thing that usually gets overlooked by the fandom is the fact that he enjoyed being a torturer in hell. he enjoyed being in control (the fact that it was physical control is very meaningful too) and he enjoyed inflicting pain on others. it’d make sense for him to seek that feeling in sex too. but not with women, for the reasons above. in general, for dean sex with women is mostly about finding comfort. sex with men (if he ever was to sleep with them in the first place) on the contrary, would be about releasing his inner violence and enjoyment of being in control
