its always funny seeing people who hate shipping wincest turn around and get pissy and bitch on sam while the boys do the most sibling thing ever. like im sorry but you whimpering over sam throwing wrappers in dean's room or acting bitchy with him are the moments trying their most into still holding supernatural as a brothers show and not a brotherfuckers fest. stop whining on the only moments saving the show from gencest into incest.

Okay, darlings. This fandom has managed to drive an author from it and they went out with a nuke. All of their work, gone. So it's time to have a talk. I'd love to think none of you were involved in it, so hopefully this is more a reminder to reblog than to have to apply, but it's time to have a talk.
First off, I'm not going to name the author. Their story is theirs. I'm just going to talk generally.
You DO NOT tell an author to kill themselves (kys) or threaten to harm them or that you'll find them or that they're writing their story wrong. YOU JUST DON'T.
"Well that's how I joke with my friends--" Stop. Authors are not your friends. They are at best acquaintances and more likely strangers. They might be friendly with you. I'm friendly with many of you because I see you often in comments/replies and such. And some of you have become friends. But the average author is not your friend, they are a stranger. And if you're the type of person who would tell a stranger to kill themselves, you need professional help in dealing with something deep inside you and I hope you find it.
Authors are out here writing entertainment and sharing it for free. You respect that and be kind. If you can't be kind, you leave. The back button is right there.
This is not an airport, you do not need to announce your departure. If a fic goes a way that you do not like, you unsubscribe and hit that back button. If it turns too angsty or sappy or violent, back button. If their characterization bothers you, back button. You do not need to tell as stranger providing free effort that you hate what they are producing. This fandom is so damn prolific, there's something out there for you, it doesn't have to be that fic.
Please just be kind. The world is horrible enough right now. And if you can't be kind, back button.

my advice to you is to never waste your time trying to fit into a club or hobby or any community who makes you beg for acceptance and approval just to participate when you could do the alternative—get involved in a niche and endangered hobby run primarily by old people.
i wanted to learn how to hunt ruffed grouse and train bird dogs so i sent an email to my local chapter of the ruffed grouse society explaining that getting into wildlife groups is intimidating to me because I’m trans
and all they saw was that someone under 60 wanted to learn to hunt grouse & several months into my mentorship I was told that like 7 old guys argued over me until they had to pick a number between 1 and 100 to decide who got to personally mentor me.
imagine vying for the acceptance of some gatekeeping weirdos when your mere interest could be inciting verbal combat among retirees

I cannot express how frustrating this is as a fanfic writer who literally went to college to be an author. I get so many comments from irl friends who say "just change the names and publish it" and I simply Cannot.
Canon is so deeply rooted in the scenario, the character reactions, the plot, the setting: I cannot scrape that off to publish it without basically rewriting the whole thing.
If you can change names and publish it legally, you didn't write fanfiction. You wrote original characters with familiar names.
sad reality of the fanfic-to-published work economy is that the weirdest people are willing to do it. that's why there's now hundreds of shitty no plot cishet hate-to-love enemies-to-lovers books that are ex reylo fanfic. and it's not even good. that's because the people who wrote book-quality steve/bucky and kirk/spock fic are too normal to think to themselves "i should get this porn published". they're too busy working in local government offices

Say it louder for the ones in the back:
BOTTOMS ARE NOT CHILDREN.
If you want to throw some age play into your kink, go for it, but just because someone takes a dick in the ass it doesn't make them more feminine or childish than the other one. It just means they like to take a dick in the ass.
Stop acting like being a bottom means you turn "UwU" about it unless that's a specific kink. Seriously. Give me manly Sam and Dean fucking each other.
I think part of the reason I prefer bottom Dean sm is cuz I hate when writers make bottoms act like children idk how to explain (super whiny and like lolita-ish) and they tend to do that more with Sam and less with dean.
But theres no reason to be fighting about who bottoms, they obviously take turns cmon

samdean literally get worse. they start out in an astronomically healthier place than they end. like consider how pilot dean not only has left sam to his devices at stanford for years already but willingly intends to leave him there again by the end of the episode. imagine like, any sam later in the show telling dean he’s leaving him to go to college. dean would lock him in a basement first. s1 sam says they’ll never be brothers the way they were again and that he wants life outside of dean. we don’t even have to imagine what a later season sam would do if dean devalued their brotherhood. canonically he goes crazy. every time. isn’t that beautiful. they started out almost healthy if not estranged and tense then ended like fucked in the mind enmeshed. tl;dr samdean get worse and it’s the best part of the show.

how i'm handling my students using AI to write papers:
-don't accuse them on using AI from the get-go and instead ask them to informally define all the huge words that they used in their essay which i know they don't know the meaning of
-ask to see their original file where they "wrote" the essay. go to version history to see if it was just copy and pasted and then just edited a bit. i keep an eye out for the shit like "certainly! here's an essay about...."
-if they own up to it, they can re-do the assignment for a higher grade even if there will be an automatic penalty. if they don't, i process it like plagiarism and get my supervisor involved.

I swear there needs to be a set of buttons when you order stuff to get delivered to your house that read "if this can get here sooner, please get it here", "projected day any time", and "oh gods please deliver it only exactly when you say you will I can't have my parents/roommates/partner know this package even exists"
#sometimes packages are gifts#sometimes packages are just embarrassing#and sometimes packages show up when you're in the middle of a shower and you have to panic dress in your least flattering clothes to#open the door and yoink them inside like a gremlin#text post

hey when you make posts, i just want you to know, thou/thee/thy/thine/ye are like he/you(object)/your/yours/you(subject) okay? "thou art wearing shoes," "i will wear shoes for thee," okay?
you say thine if the next word starts with a vowel and thy if the next word starts with a consonant and they both mean "your" so "thine own shoes," "thy shoes," okay?
and ye means you and refers to the subject of a sentence, "ye members of the brotherhood of shoes," okay? you need this information to create better knight yaoi. i'm personally more interested in nun yuri but we are a community

straight people are so fascinating even when they aren't actively trying to be homophobic. I had a class a few years ago where one assignment was to summarize some eighth century arabic poetry about going out for drinks with the lads before indulging in some gay sex and like half the class came in and said "I'm sorry idk what was happening in this one, they mention having sex with a servant but they also say the servant's a man? where'd the woman come from? I'm so confused." and a few days ago in a shakespeare class I made a comment about how cleopatra and octavius caesar are kind of parallel characters in possessively bartering for mark antony's attention and one of my classmates responded as though I'd been talking about octavia and not caesar, despite the fact that I said "caesar" and "him" multiple times while describing the actions he specifically took. fully incapable of comprehending of anything that's even a little bit gay.
