Some info about Sulala Animal Rescue, the only animal shelter in Gaza. The sole founder Saeed al Err runs it with his family and volunteers but as with everything going on they have been impacted by Israeli terrorism. Saeed is doing everything he can to keep both animals and himself safe.

Sulala Animal Rescue is an organization in the Gaza Strip that saves abandoned, stray, hungry, sick, and injured animals of all species. It was founded and is still operated by a man named Saeed, and staffed by his son Sa’ed, among others. They are the only legitimate animal rescue in the Gaza Strip.

Their primary facility is in northern Gaza, but they were forced to evacuate due to threats of Israeli bombardment. They evacuated as many animals as they could, but danger posed by IOF attacks forced them to flee for their lives. They are working on getting the rest of the animals moved south with them, and are also taking in more sick and injured animals in the south. If all of this wasn’t difficult enough, they are now almost out of all animal food. No animal food has entered the Strip since October 9th, and things are extremely desperate. They now have only two bags left for all the animals.

They have three needs: for the Kerem Shalom border crossing to allow shipments of animal food through; for Israel to designate a safe area where the animals won’t be bombed; and for the IOF to allow Sulala to pass safely back into the north to retrieve the remaining animals. They are asking for people to advocate on their behalf, and have drafted an appeal letter for you to send, and have provided a list of individuals and agencies for you to contact. They do take donations despite little/no aid coming in because they can use the money within Gaza to buy neglected and abused animals from their owners, particularly donkeys, who are extremely burdened since they had to take the lead in transportation. You can donate to their PayPal link or to their partner organization, Animals Australia, who sends 100% of donations to Sulala. To some, it may seem trivial to be concerned with animals when 2 million humans are suffering. However, successfully lobbying these agencies will help normalize letting more aid past the blockade. Further, Sulala itself is important because it provides not just care for animals, but also work for their staff and business partners, and money for local enterprises. Finally, it is possible to fight for both humans and animals, and to do so without pre-prioritizing the needs of the human population.

Surprise 🙂 our donkey Souad gave birth to a healthy baby boy last night. We rescued Souad when she was pregnant in the beginning of the year. She is the one who knows how to open the water tap by herself — remember? Saeed named the foal Bashar. It means “bringer of good news”

Hi everyone, I don't have a big following on here but there is something I want to bring attention to. I have not seen this anywhere on tumblr.

Sulala Animal Rescue is the only animal rescue in Gaza. This is run by one man, Saeed, and his family. Their instragram page is run by a volunteer in Denmark (I believe). When the war started they were forced to leave the dog shelter in the North. They have been displaced several times, every time moving with 100's of cats, many dogs, some of which are injured or disabled, and donkeys. These are not just animals, they are loved by the shelter and many of these animals are pets who lost their owners, became seperated, or are being cared for by Sulala until their owners are able to care for them again. They have a gfm if you would like to support the animals. There is also a link to their paypal on their instagram.

In addition to the animal rescue Sa'ed, Saeed's son has a fundraiser to help support children in Gaza.

Again I do not have a big following on here and I do not want to take away from personal gfm's for Palestians which are so important right now. I just wanted to bring attention the the hard work of this shelter who have risked their lives to save animals and despite of everything they are doing so much good. Saeed and his Friends from Sulala Animal Rescue continue to save and help Animals all through Gaza.

They came to Motaz to pick up and take care of the Doggy with the broken hind legs I showed in a previous Post.

Update: as of the 23rd Saeed and the Sulala crew in the targeted zone in Central Gaza had purchased a piece of land in a safe area for the animals. It is unknown if they are still in place or on the move. It is difficult to know especially with the amount of animals in their care that have to be transported.

From their Instagram story on the 23rd: "Before I went to bed yesterday [Saeed] told me he was tired of being sad. Even before the war he was already always sad for the animals and he would like to laugh for a change. I tried to make a joke but it wasn't easy."

Sulala Animal Hospital, the only animal rescue in Gaza, has around less than a week left of food. The only reason they can't get more is because I*rael does not allow animal food into Gaza. When contacting your represetatives please urge them to make Israel allow animal food and medicine into Gaza.
