letters
based off of "to all the boys I loved before" cuse YES I AM A LOSER LIKE THAT FIGHT ME. mlm, fluff, and some spice?? very long story also a bit of a size thing going on cuse...yeah.
I sat on the floor of my bedroom writing yet another letter to a guy I had complications feeling towards.
it was a recurring patern in my life as the moment I shared something special with someone instead of telling them my feelings I'd write them down on a piece of paper and trow it in a box I kept under my bed.
it was a bit pathetic for sure, but can you blame me? love has never worked out for me before, so I much rather admire from a distance.
this letter was addressed to a guy in my school.
Jeong Yunho.
back in 6rd grade, me, him, and some other friends had a small party where we played spin the bottle. at the time a friend of mine had a crush on him that I knew about, so I begged for the bottle not to land on him, but of course it did. I was hesitant, but nonetheless, we shared a short, small kiss, which was my first. safe to say me and her are not on good terms even till this day.
the cringe letter was finished, and I folded it up nicely, putting it in an envelope and writing down his name on it before throwing it in the box and sliding it under my bed.
I didn't think much of it knowing they couldn't get out, so I chose to go to bed for the night.
in the morning, I rushed to the kitchen, my sister sitting on the sofa on her phone, ready to go as I ran around looking for my laptop.
"we'll be late, you know." she said, looking at me from the sofa standing up, trowing her bag over her shoulder.
"I'm sorry, okay, i just can't find my computer. can you go back to my room and look? maybe I missed it. please?" I asked her with a pleading look, hoping she'd go check, and thankfully, with an annoyed groan, she agreed.
she came back after a few minutes computer in hand. "it was by your bed, clothes trown over it."
"Thank you so much." I said, taking it from her and rushing out the door to my car, her following not too far behind me.
the school day passed by normally. the usual boring classes until lunch period hit.
I never ate in the cafeteria as it was way too crowded for me, so I always camped out in the bathroom eating and scrolling through my phone. sure it wasn't the most sanitary thing to do, but it was quiet.
as I was enjoying my lunch devouring a sandwich I made in a rush I heard the door open a familiar voice coming trough.
"y/n? you in here?" it was yunho. I was confused about why he was looking for me, but I didn't make a sound, wanting him to leave in all honesty. I brought my legs up so he couldn't see which stall I was in, but sadly, my phone fell out of my lap as I did so making a lot of noise.
I knew he heard as he knocked on the door. I didn't answer until he slid my letter under the door.
my heart dropped.
I quickly put my things in my bag, stuffing the sandwich in my mouth, and opened the door.
"how did you get that?" I asked my words a bit muffled thanks to the food.
he stumbled back as I opened the door, putting one hand into his jean pocket.
"I found it in my locker this morning. you didn't put it there?" he asked obviously a but confused.
I was panicking. the thought of him knowing how I felt about him was one of my biggest nightmares. I shook my head, no trying to figure out how he could have gotten it and if any of the other guys got it.
he must have picked up on the panic "your hand writing is nice. I'm actually quite flattered you think of me this way."
his words caught me off guard. was he playing, or was he for real?
"Look, you were never supposed to get it. just forget about it, okay?"
"What if I feel the same way? do I still forget about it?"
I stayed quiet, staring at him, not expecting anything like that to come out of his mouth. he sighed, putting the letter in his bag and turning his attention back to me.
"it's actually a bit funny how you never picked up on any of the signs. I don't just go around the school campus trying to strick up a conversation, give compliments, and try to hang out with random people, but you seem quite obvious."
the last sentence struck a bit of a nerve. "I'm not obviou-"
my words were cut off by a pair of soft lips on mine. I was shocked, eyes wide in surprise, tho slowly I calmed down and returned the kiss my hand making its way to his cheek.
he pulled away first, both of us silent as we registered what we (he) just did.
he opened his mouth to say someone, but the bell rang, signalling us that lunch was over.
I pulled away, clearing my throat, and my ears a bit red from embarrassment.
"Let's talk after school, okay? we can meet you back here...if you want, of course."
he nodded the sweet smile on his face that I always adored. "See you then"
...........time skip............
I stood in the bathroom waiting for him. I was a bit scared he would end up not showing up, but I tried to have a bit of hope. my sister decided to go hang out with her friends after school. I didn't really have anything to rush.
20 minutes had passed, and he was still not here. it was upsetting, but somehow, I wasn't too surprised, so I just chose to leave. I got home relatively late as I had stopped at the store to get some food since our fridge was very empty.
my sister was already home sprawled out on the sofa watching a movie as I placed the bags on the kitchen counter.
"How was school?" I asked, glancing at her. for some reason, she was avoiding all eye contact and seemed a bit on edge.
"it was okay. how about you...?"
"it was...interesting, to say the least." I responded, putting the food away as she nodded and stayed quiet.
Once everything was done, I went into my room and instantly checked the box that I kept my letters in. the rest where there but the one yunho got. I instantly knew my sister must have done it in the morning. I wasn't mad, tho since maybe she even did some good?
I sighed and changed, choosing to put my homework off for a bit and relax for a bit to decompose everything that happened today.
it was calm for a while. silent even. until my sister barged in practically braking my door down as I quickly sat up from my bed worried that something had happened. i looked her way, a mischievous smile on her face as she pushed yunho inside my room.
wait, yunho!?
he stood there an awkward smile on his face as he looked around and back at my sister, who closed the door quickly.
"use protection!!" were her last words before she left us there.
I got up quickly and started picking up my clothes, throwing them in my closet to make the place some what clean.
"Hi yunho, I wasn't really expecting anyone, so it's a bit messy"
he laughed and took off his coat, placing it on my dresser that was by the door looking around the room. "it's okay. I did show up without a warning."
I hummed fixing myself up as well to not look too much of a mess.
"I'm sorry that I didn't show up today. I got held back in class. I promise I didn't do it on purpose."
his words seemed honest, and his face had regret written all over it. he walked closer to me, towering over me thanks to his height.
"I couldn't have even texted you a heads up cuse I don't have your number, and I'm so sorry"
I let him finish staying quiet. I had figured as much cuse he didn't seem like the type of person to do something like that. Once he was done, I just kissed him.
I didn't know I had the guts to do something like that but I was glad I did as he returned the kiss immediately his hands finding their way to my waist as mine wrapped around his neck pulling him down slightly.
it got a bit heated surprisingly enough, which I wasn't expecting.
we had moved to my bed making out. it was obvious to both of us that we've been wanting each other for a very long time as things wouldn't be going this far otherwise.
his hands moved up, and my legs, as I pulled away, taking his shirt off, pulling him back into the kiss, we were both getting desperate, but sadly, we got interrupted by my sister.
she came in, completely ignoring the sight in front of her, and sat down on my bed, throwing her homework next to us.
"help me." is all she said.
me and yunho were both very embarrassed, but nonetheless, we stopped what we were doing and both ended up helping her.

May I request Shadow the Hedgehog, Maybe that the reader is very close to shadow as well as Maria because the reader and Maria were siblings so the reader knew shadow
But since Shadow was sealed for 50 years the reader thought they lost both their sibling and a friend
But later on, maybe the reader and shadow reunite as reader runs to shadow and shadow doesn't believe it until the reader hugs him making him believe that the reader were alive and real
HE NEEDS A HUG MY POOR BBY
He does! Like My poor baby suffered enough :(
Pairings -> Shadow the Hedgehog x Reader
Warnings -> Past Trauma, Loss of a loved one
Note -> Reader is beginning to think they lost their sibling and their friend but they reunit with shadow after so many years of guilt
Genre -> Angst to Fluff
This might be a long story as I thought of writing something like this!
Shadow the Hedgehog
In the past years of living by yourself, you felt guilty for not being able to be there for them and to say a final goodbye.
In the past, you lost both your sister and your very best friend in a blow out at the G.U.N base, they simply wanted shadow to be gone but Maria didn't seem to let him go.
Sadly you were pulled out of the room where you are Maria and shadow who were just simply having a good time until the alarms went off, Gerald coming into the room to get them before it was to late.
One of the Gun men decided to shoot from getting 'orders from someone' as Walter tried to stop them causing them to miss but hit the tubes of orange stuff that caused them to explode.
That result in Maria dying and you weren't there to help her or say goodbye.
But you didn't know if Shadow was alive or not, simply thinking about it every single day to the point, it was like a big missing piece of your heart.
But to this very day you still think about them..
"Name! Come on, we are going camping!" Tom yelled out to you where you were sitting on kitchen table trying to write some stuff, you completely forget that you were going camping with the others.
That sort of helped you lighten up, you were willing to be happy for them. Tom and Maddie were like your parents but not really, you loved them dearly as they helped you in and gave you shelter. A home and a Family.
"Coming!" You shouted back as you quickly put on your shoes on as you tripped a little bit and ran outside closing the door behind you. Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were already in the back of the car.
"Oh Hun, your shoe laces" Maddie then kneeled down to do them for you. "Oh Thank you" You said waiting for her to finish with both of your shoes, she then patted your shoes to let you know she finished doing them.
She smiled at you and you smiled back as she pulled you in by wrapping a arm on your shoulder "You excited?" She asked
You nodded "I've never really went camping before"
"Well you are going to love it!" Maddie said as she shook you gently then walked to the car
You were going to have fun and you know it
"Come one Name! We are going Camping~" Sonic sang as he did a little dance, you chuckled as you opened the door at the back, putting your seatbelt on as you were ready to go.
The camping site wasn't too far away, it was in the bush where the lake was, it looks beautiful. The water sparkled from the sunlight, the bushes greener than ever. You never knew that the outside was this gorgeous.
When you were younger, you always looked out for Maria and stayed with her, she couldn't leave the base as her sickness became worse, only the time was when you and her got shadow to look at the stars.
-Flashback-
You were simply in the room trying to sleep but couldn't, shadow was sleeping peacefully beside you as you turned around to see if Maria was asleep but she wasn't there.
You lifted your head up to look around the room, suddenly the door slide open as Maria was smiling brightly
"Maria? What are you doing?" You asked but she shushed you, she then walked over to shadow as she gently woke him up as well causing him to look confused while being sleepy.
You tried not to laugh as you got out of the pillow fort, shadow following you as he held your hand as you two followed Maria to a lift
"Wait, Where are we going?" You asked, Maria simply such smile as she spoke
"you'll see~" She winked then pulled the lever of the lift when you and shadow were on it
The lift then stopped at the very top as a opening opened revealing such a gorgeous sight of so many stars, you stepped off the lift as you looked around to see so many white flowers on the ground of grass
"Oh wow" You were amazed
"This can be our very spot" She smiled once more, you loved her smile, very bright and happy even though she was suffering with a illness
You guys were all sitting down looking at the stars, shadow was sleeping on your lap, gently petting his head. You and Maria talked until you felt tired yourself as you yawned then leaned your head down on her shoulder
You missed those days..
But everything can't be the same as it use to be...
-End of flashback-
You and The Wachowski family were standing by as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles went to race, apparently sonic fell for it as he raced the holograms that Tails created
You ruffled his yellow soft fur as a good job as you all now started to prepare something special for sonic. His Bearthday birthday.
Now you were all having a fun time roasting marshmallows, this wasn't so bad. Camping was fun, spending with the right people, your family.
Thattsss until a helicopter came in, making everything blow away as sonic, tails and knuckles knew who these people were. But you..
Once you saw the word G.U.N you instantly was sent to the past on what happened to Maria and Shadow...
But you didn't say a word as you didn't want to ruin anything. Sonic, Tail and Knuckles was asked to go to Tokyo to save the people there from something so they agreed, leaving you, Tom and Maddie together.
You hoped they were going to be okay, they were like your younger brothers but.. aliens? Animals?
Either way you still hoped they were going to be okay, as the helicopter left. You, Tom and Maddie decided to go back home.
It's been a while since you heard from sonic, you were just resting on the couch along side with Tom and Maddie as they did some hobbies that they haven't done before.
They seemed bored and you were bored as well, you couldn't blame them as Sonic, Tails and Knuckles were the fun around the house, keeping everyone happy and charged up for some fun time.
You were laying on to the single couch, legs hanging from the arm rest while your head was on the other side of the arm rest. Sighing every time while Tom and Maddie did their stuff to entertain themselves.
You then heard a little noise as you look over to see a golden ring being opened, Tom and Maddie instantly stood up, you quickly sat up as you notice a familiar red colour
It was knuckles, a chaina round him and a pole behind him, you could also see a blue and yellow colour behind him
"Tom, Maddie, Name, we need your help on a super..." sonic paused, "Knuckles do you mind?"
"Oh excuse me" Knuckles said as he woddled around to show sonic as he then continued "Tom, Maddie, Name. We need your help on a super mission!" He shouted
Maddie and Tom just looked at each other "We're In!" They said together
Then everyone looked at you as you raised a hand up "Same here" You said as you smiled at sonic which caused him to be all excited for this mission
London, this is where the G.U.N base is and all you need to do is go with Maddie and Tom to put the USB that we got from tails to plug it in the device system
Sounds easy enough... except there are so many guards but luckily Tails is way ahead as he gave you guys holograms to change yourself into other people
While Tails is somewhere else, sonic on the bridge to be ready at any moment while knuckles was on the big clock to break glass.. for emergencies only
You, Maddie and Tom switched as you guys went into the base up to the front which caused Maddie to go into character a little bit too much
Now you guys were in the device system to plug into the USB so Tails could get into the system itself but unfortunately there was another one that look like
Eggman's?
"Eggman is here?" You asked as you looked at Tom as he told tails there was another USB already plugged into the thing
Now everything went very bad, Eggman was maybe already up the key, Tom told you to hide somewhere as he heard people coming so you quickly hid as you saw Maddie and Tom get caught as they walked out of the room that you were hiding in
"Damn it.." You then crouched and then fully stood up walking to the door as you looked out to see no-one so you went out and tried to find Tom and Maddie
A lot of chaos happened in one go as you heard a crash on the building above you, might of been knuckles which meant that something was happening because he was meant to break glass in case of emergencies
Now you were lost
"This base is a maze" You whined as you ran every corner until you were met with..
A hedgehog?
You then looked down to see a familiar face, realizing it was..
"TOM!" You shouted out causing the hedgehog ears to flick at the suddenly shout as you ran to Tom
"Tom? Tom.." You shook him to see if he was going to wake up, you felt like crying at that moment at he didn't seem to flinch or move at all
He seriously hurt
Your brows furrow as you looked at the culprit to only see a familiar hedgehog in your eyes
Your breath hitched, it had also seem that shadow noticed you as well as you two stared at each other
You heard him say your name in a soft voice, your tears started to swell up in your eyes
"Shadow..."
The you heard sonics voice shout out for Tom that caused Shadow to grab you and then teleport both of you out of that spot causing to look confused for a moment
You were now in a quiet and empty room, the lights dim as if this room was no longer needed for anything
You noticed that you sitting down, you then started to look around the room to see if you could spot shadow anywhere
You eventually did as he was a couple steps in front of you, you could see his crimson eyes looking at you
Looking at your every move that you did
"Shadow.. Is it really you?"
You heard a little huff meaning that was yes
Your body now moving on its own as you started to stand up as if you were really happy to see him again
Shadow noticed as he didn't move a muscle, seeing your tired and sad face made him knew that you missed him dearly then he saw you running to him causing him to widen his eyes at the suddenly movement
You run at him and then hugged him causing him to fall over, your face on his chest fur as you were now crying, tightening your arms around him
Shadow didn't believe it at first if you were real or not but he now knows that you were here with him at this very moment
You then felt furry arms wrap around you, a hand holding on the back of your head as the other was on your back, feeling that shadow was trembling as he heard you sob
As you two held each other for the very first time in forever..
I got lazy at the end :P

all you need is more radaway
save a horse. ride a cowboy. ;)
anyways i really loved the tv show and i love the game. and ghouls are just chef's kiss. or maybe that's because i love monsters. sad that i finished it so quickly. :(
perhaps i can put what i learned in my western class to good use lol
character: cooper howard aka. the ghoul
it's never easy surviving the wasteland. you don't know how you managed to survive for this long. perhaps because you seemed to have been blessed with incredible luck.
and building up endurance, of course.
you felt little to no side effects from the radiation of the food you were eating. which just meant you had a lot of radaway and rad-x stocked up.
to make ends meet, though, you had to start hunting. scavenging and scrapping by wasn't enough. you needed the extra caps.
thus your rivalry with another bounty hunter was born.
"well, well. aren't you far from home, sweetheart?"
you were used to comments about your outfit. a vault suit. yes, you came from one. you had been exiled after your father was revealed to be managing the experiment behind it. the child pays for the sins of the father always.
"you're not the first and you won't be the last." you pull the head off the body as clean as possible.
"now i don't know if you should do that."
"and why not?"
a bullet flies past you and burrows itself into the ground. you finally look up. a cowboy hat. the face of a ghoul. his gun pointing right at you.
but you weren't afraid.
"because he's my target." he pulls out a piece of paper. "and he's mine."
"seems unfair if i did all the work. and you just collect his head and the prize." you pull out the same piece of paper. yours is a little more worn out though. and covered in dried blood.
"that's the way of the wasteland sweetheart."
"if you believe so."
your hands were fast. two bullets lodged into his right left and when he looks up, you're gone.
of course, you learned from the best: western holotapes. you really liked them when you were growing up. claimed to want to be a lone hero.
in some ways, you were. the wasteland was just a new version of the wild west, wasn't it?
"spaghetti? like...the pasta?"
more like spaghetti western. he knew that, of course. but no one in the wasteland knew what a spaghetti western was. they were remnants of a past long gone and one only accessible by holotapes in the vaults.
"that's their name." the person says. "why? you have business with them?"
"perhaps." the ghoul was looking to return a favor.
"don't even try. they're far more formidable than you think."
"we'll see about that."
your rivalry was an exchange of bullets, more often than not. thankfully, you always stocked up on bloodbags and could make a stimpack from your heavy (but useful) travel chemistry kit. you were smart like that.
surprisingly, it became something to look forward. mostly because the ghoul preferred if he tried killing you, so he managed to get you out of a tough situation by killing the other people trying to kill you.
and you returned the favor. there was something satisfying about lodging a bullet into him again.
unfortunately, this left you two stuck on a job once. captured by raiders. you had been knocked out with a drug. and he had collapsed from...something.
"fuck." you mutter, pulling at the ropes binding you. your luck had run out for the day it seems, because your arms were tied to the ghoul's around this godforsaken pole. the metal was also uncomfortably rubbing up against your skin.
"you got a knife or anything sharp?" he looks over at you. it's rare to see him without his cowboy hat. his head was rather smooth.
you chuckle a little.
"something funny?" the ghoul asks.
"nothing. you're just...shaped like an egg."
"very funny."
"let me guess. your answer is no?"
"i don't have a knife up my sleeve, sadly. think they took it."
"shame." the ghoul shimmies something out of his own sleeve. he flicks the blade out and begins sawing at the rope. "watch your fingers."
you keep your fingers tucked in. eventually, the rope on your wrists comes undone and one arm soon after. the rest comes off and you rub your skin. "fuck these guys. always hated raiders."
"well, we both got sold out. we need to find that thing now. or else we'll be dead by sunrise." he tugs on the door of the jail cell and clicks his tongue.
"i don't have sharp objects. but i do have these." you pull out the bobby pin taped on the inside of your sleeve, alongside a mini screwdriver.
the lock wasn't very complicated, so you picked it with ease.
as you both are grabbing your equipment, you hear footsteps up above. light ones and heavier ones. and the sound of a muffled, altered, robotic voice.
the brotherhood of steel was worse than raiders, honestly.
"you go left, i go right. how does that sound?"
"i don't usually like taking orders from my rivals." he reloads his gun. "but for you? sure."
the event left the both of you soaked in the blood of your enemies. on the other hand, you guys left with plenty of loot and an idea of where your target was: dead. at the bottom of a lake.
it was a journey to get there, wherein you learned the details of each other's lives. you didn't think he was paying much attention to your sentences. after all, you came from a vault.
and yet, you saw a hint of sympathy in his eyes.
he seemed less keen on sharing details about his life, aside from his former name. cooper howard.
undeniably, as a fan of westerns, you recognized his names. from the holotapes.
"they had those?" cooper shakes his head, taking sips of water. "no way."
"yes way! it's where i learned to shoot."
"from watching my movies?"
"yes!"
"that is...a pleasant surprise." cooper leans back.
"that also makes you over 200 years old."
"that it does. something wrong with that?"
"no. the wasteland changes people." you maintain your attention to your suit, sewing a tear up. "just...you're looking for something, aren't you? everyone's always looking for something up here."
"are you looking for something?" his voice hardens and he sits up straight.
"i was. and then i found it. and i stopped." you tie the thread to seal the stitch and then tear the thread with your teeth. "i hope you find what you're looking for though."
"well, that's awfully kind of you, sweetheart."
"i have a name, you know."
"what is it?"
"(y/n)."
getting personal in the wasteland was something cooper wasn't adamant about. but the circumstances seems to call for it.
"guess we're even now."
the body of water was daunting. it was murky and dark. you pursed your lips and dumped your bag. "well. guess we have no choice."
cooper looks over at you then quickly turns around when he sees what you're doing: taking off your suit and going down to your underwear. "what are you doing?"
"i'm going to go get that head. that's how we get paid, right? easy three thousand caps. 15 hundred split evenly." you stretch.
"i think you might die."
"i'll be fine. i've done it before." Aquaperson perk.
"i can also swim, you know."
"i'll be fine cooper." you pop a rad-x pill just in case. "be back in a bit."
you dive like a swan, making minimal splash into the water. your form disappears beneath the darkness.
you're gone beneath the water for over an hour. cooper's heart was beating against his rib cage. you should be out by now. it should not be that hard. did something get you? things lurked beneath the murky waters always.
"fuck!"
he drops his equipment and begins stripping down, until he is just in his pants. he would need to dive after you. if you were dead, then so be it. it was fun while it lasted.
suddenly, you emerge. you take in the oxygen of the surface and hold the head up high. "got 'em." you swim over to the shore and walk out of the water.
there was something about how...wet you were that got him feeling hot and bothered.
"something happen down there?"
"couple of mirelurks. no big deal. which reminds me." you set the head on the ground and go back into the water. within minutes, you're pulling out the bodies of the mirelurks you had killed. "dinner."
while cutting the mirelurks open, you observe the way he walks around you. his muscles bulging a little as he cuts a mirelurk open and takes the meat. he was kind of...attractive?
"were you going to come after me?" he stops cutting hearing your question. "in the water, i mean."
"so what if i did?" cooper averts his eyes.
"that's sweet of you. i didn't know you had a soft spot for me."
"i don't."
"sure." you can tell he was lying through his teeth.
dinner was a nice, cozy meal. it was delicious. a nice surprise considering the nature of the wasteland.
cooper notices the way you're looking at him. and he looks at you the same way.
though how does this work exactly?
"do you want to..." you try to find a decent way to say this. fuck is a good term. but it felt a little vulgar in the moment.
cooper already knows what you're asking. "absolutely. if you can handle it." he smirks.
it's so cute when he smirks.
you glance over at your bag, looking at your stash of radaway. you had plenty. plus your stash of rad-x too.
"i absolutely can."

Beautiful Game
portgas d. ace x strawhat!reader
you meet ace in alabasta with the rest of the crew and start a game that, sadly, you will never finish.
a/n: omg thank you for having faith in me and voting this in the last poll, hope you'll enjoy it as much as I did writing it!!
words count: 2.1k
tags: alabasta to marineford, secret romance, angst, tragedy, hidden love, secretly dating, d3ath
masterlist || ao3 || ko-fi
You first meet Portgas D. Ace in the middle of the desert, just like the rest of the crew.
Luffy tackles him, grinning ear to ear, while the rest of you stand back, slightly wary of the powerful stranger. But the moment Ace lifts his head, eyes flickering with amusement, something shifts.
His eyes meet yours for only a second, dark, warm, curious, but it’s enough. You don’t know it yet, but this is the start of something dangerous.
Later that night, as you all rest near the campfire, Ace finds you sitting a little away from the group, staring at the stars.
“You don’t talk much” he comments, sitting beside you. His presence is warm, even in the cool desert air.
You smirk “I let the idiots handle that part.”
Ace chuckles “Good strategy.”
There’s a brief silence before he tilts his head “What’s your dream?”
You blink at him, surprised.
“Everyone on Luffy’s crew has a goal,” he continues “What’s yours?”
You hesitate. It’s been a long time since someone asked you that so directly “Just to be free” you say at last “To see the world, live how I want. No chains, no limits.”
Ace’s gaze softens “That’s a good dream.”
You glance at him “What about you?”
His expression flickers, like he’s about to say something but stops himself. Instead, he just grins “to make the whole world know my name, and maybe Luffy's too”
You snort “Sounds like a lot of work.”
“It is,” Ace admits. Then, after a pause “But I don’t mind.”
It’s dangerous, the way your heart flutters. You tell yourself it’s just because he’s charming, nothing more.
But by the time he leaves, slipping you a small, barely noticeable wink before running off into the desert, you know you’re in deep trouble.
It starts as a game.
Ace sneaks into your life at random moments, meeting you in hidden ports, leaving you messages through Luffy (who will always be oblivious), brushing against your shoulder in crowded taverns.
It’s always brief. Always secret.
Neither of you say what it really is, but you both know.
“This is a bad idea” you whisper one night, his fingers tangled in your hair, lips brushing against yours.
Ace grins, his breath warm against your skin “The worst.”
“Then why are we doing this?”
“Because I can’t stay away.”
And you’re weak, so weak, because neither can you.
But you never speak of a future. Never dare to hope.
Because deep down, you both know this can’t, and won't, last.
You shouldn’t be here.
The desert air is warm, the stars scattered across the sky like broken pieces of a dream. The sounds of the celebration echo from the city below. Luffy and the others, drunk on victory and food, laughing without a care in the world.
But you?
You’re standing on a secluded balcony of an inn, pressed against Ace.
His lips are fire against yours, searing, desperate. His hands grip your waist, your fingers tangled in his hair, tugging him closer, needing him closer.
This isn’t supposed to happen.
But Ace tastes like heat, like danger, like something you’ve wanted far too long.
“Tell me to stop” he murmurs against your lips. His voice is rough, strained, “Tell me to walk away, and I will.”
You should.
You should shove him back, should say no, but his forehead rests against yours, his breath uneven, his hands trembling against your skin.
And suddenly, the thought of letting him go is unbearable.
So instead, you whisper, “Don’t you dare.”
Ace exhales a shaky laugh, his grip tightening before he kisses you again, deeper, slower, like he’s memorizing you.
Like he knows you don’t have forever.
That night, tangled in each other, nothing else matters.
After that night, you don’t talk about it.
But it doesn’t end.
Ace disappears with a grin, promising to meet Luffy again soon. But when he leaves, he presses something into your hand... a small, folded scrap of paper.
“Use it when you need me” he says quietly.
You open your palm. It’s a Vivre Card.
You meet his eyes, and something unspoken passes between you.
“I’ll see you again” Ace says, voice so sure.
And then he’s gone.
For months, you tell yourself it was just one night.
But Ace? He never really leaves you.
Messages come in strange ways.
A stranger passing you a note in a tavern: “Took down another Blackbeard scout today. Hope you’re safe.”
A bartender in an unfamiliar town handing you a drink: “From the freckled guy. Says he misses you.”
A merchant, laughing as they slip a shell into your hand: “Play this.”
And when you do?
Ace’s voice crackles through the Den Den Mushi.
“Oi. Still alive, I hope?”
And just like that, he’s with you again.
You talk for hours sometimes, whispering in the dead of night so the others don’t hear.
“You should’ve seen Sanji the other day...” you laugh “He got so flustered over a waitress, he walked into a wall.”
Ace chuckles “Sounds like an idiot.”
“He is” You pause, softer “But he’s family.”
Ace hums “Yeah. Should I get jealous?”
Sometimes, his messages are shorter. More serious.
“Things are getting bad. Whitebeard’s watching Teach closely now.”
“I don’t trust this. But I have to follow through.”
And the worst one:
“If anything happens… tell Luffy I love him.”
That’s when you know.
Something is coming.
And you’re terrified.
The world is burning.
Explosions, screams, the clash of steel. War rages around you, but none of it matters, because Ace is there, even if chained, bloody and exhausted.
And you are powerless.
“ACE!”
Your voice is drowned out by the chaos, but he hears it. His eyes snap to you, widening in shock.
“Y/N?!” His voice is raw, desperate “What are you doing here?!”
Even Luffy shocked to see you, especially after you got separated in Sabaody. Maybe you should’ve stayed away, but you couldn't.
You should’ve let Luffy and the Whitebeard Pirates handle it.
But the second you saw his face in that newspaper, you knew you couldn’t lose him.
And you’re not the only one surprised.
A deep, rumbling laugh cuts through the battlefield, even amidst the chaos. You barely have time to react before a massive figure looms over you. Whitebeard himself.
“So, this is the brat Ace never shut up about” he says, and for a moment, you forget how to breathe.
The Whitebeard Pirates fight fiercely around him, but the way they look at you it’s recognition. Familiarity. And then, Marco steps closer, a smirk tugging at his lips despite the battle raging on.
“Took ya long enough to show up” he says, his tone casual, like you’ve always been one of them.
You blink in shock. Ace… talked about you? Told them about you? And not just that, he made you family, without you even knowing.
You feel something tighten in your chest. There’s no time to process it, no time to react, because the battle isn’t over. But for the first time since stepping into this war, you don’t feel alone.
The battle is a blur. You fight like hell, side by side with Luffy and the others, cutting down anyone who stands between you and Ace.
And then—
Freedom.
The chains shatter. Ace is free, fire roaring to life around him as he stands, fists clenched.
For a moment, just a moment, you think everything will be okay.
But then you see Admiral Akainu move.
And you know.
“ACE!” You lunge forward, but you’re too far.
The fist of magma pierces his chest.
The world stops.
You don’t remember running.
You don’t remember the way your legs give out as you fall beside him, hands pressing uselessly against the gaping wound in his chest, as if that could help him.
All you remember is his face.
The way he smiles, even now.
The way his fingers brush against your cheek, gentle despite everything.
“Sorry” he whispers.
Your breath catches “No... don’t you dare...”
Ace coughs, blood dripping from his lips. His other hand clutches Luffy’s shoulder, voice weak but so full of love.
“Thank you, Luffy.”
Luffy is breaking, sobbing so hard his whole body shakes.
Then Ace’s eyes flicker back to you, something soft and unspoken passing through them.
His thumb brushes against your lips, a silent apology. A silent goodbye.
“Guess… we won’t get to finish our little beautiful game" he murmurs “Sorry Luffy but I really like y/n”
Your vision blurs.
“Please” you whisper, voice shaking “Stay. Just a little longer... please”
But he just smiles.
And then—
The light leaves his eyes.
And your world shatters.
You don’t remember much after that.
Just fire. Screams. The unbearable weight of losing him.
But the rest of the world remembers.
The next time you’re fully aware, you’re somewhere far away—trapped in a place you never meant to be, just like the others. The crew is gone, scattered across the world, torn apart at Sabaody. And Luffy… Luffy had been alone.
You don’t know where they are. If they’re okay. If they know.
And then, one day, a newspaper arrives.
Your hands shake as you hold it, the ink smudging slightly under your fingers. Your face is on the front page.
Right next to Luffy. Right next to Ace. The world knows.
Thousands of miles away, the rest of the crew stares at the same paper, their hearts sinking.
On Weatheria, Nami’s breath catches as she clutches the newspaper, hands trembling. The old scientists around her murmur in confusion, but she doesn’t hear them, “Luffy… y/n what are you doing there…”
On Kamabakka, Sanji sits frozen, his usual flirtatious charm gone as he reads the headline. His cigarette burns between his fingers, now forgotten “what the hell…”
In the snowy mountains of Torino Kingdom, Chopper’s small paws shake as he grips the paper, his eyes brimming with tears.
On a distant island, Usopp bites his lip so hard it nearly bleeds. He grips the edges of the newspaper, his vision swimming. He was supposed to be stronger. Strong enough to stand beside you.
Even Franky, in his newly rebuilt body, goes quiet. Even Brook, usually one to make light of things, feels something break inside his ribcage. Zoro. Nico Robin. Everyone.
The article spares no details. Your presence at Marineford. The way you fought beside Luffy. The way you clung to Ace in his final moments, your hands stained with his blood.
And the way he had looked at you, as if you were the most precious thing in his world.
They weren’t there to protect you. They weren’t there to fight with you.
And that truth burns.
When Luffy finally awakens, on Amazon Lily, after Law has done everything he could to keep him alive, the pain is still fresh.
You sit by his side, the weight of everything threatening to crush you both.
Luffy is the one to break the silence first.
“I’m going to train with Rayleigh,” he says, voice hoarse but filled with new resolve “For two years.”
You swallow hard. You knew this was coming.
You also knew you weren’t ready to be alone again.
Before you can respond, Luffy speaks again, his voice quieter now.
“Ace really loved you.”
Your breath catches.
You look at him in shock, but Luffy just stares ahead, eyes distant.
“He talked about you, y’know. When we met in Impel Down, he kept saying how mad you’d be if he got himself in trouble.” Luffy lets out a small, sad chuckle. “Guess he was right. I had no idea about the two of you but he told me everything…”
Your vision blurs.
Luffy turns his head toward you, his expression unreadable “You loved him too, huh?”
You swallow past the lump in your throat. There’s no point in hiding it anymore.
“Yeah,” your voice cracks “I did.”
Silence.
Then, slowly, Luffy reaches out and takes your hand in his, squeezing tight.
“You don’t have to be alone.”
And just like that, you both break.
Later, as Luffy announces his two-year training plan, you clench your fists, the storm of emotions clear in your eyes.
Law watches you carefully. He doesn’t say anything, he just waits.
“…I’m going to be okay” you finally say, lifting your gaze to meet Luffy’s “I’ll wait for you. But for now, Law offered me to stay with the Heart Pirates.”
Luffy doesn’t question it. He just nods, gripping your hand in his, squeezing tight.
“I’ll see you in two years.”
And before he leaves, he turns back to you one last time, his expression more serious than you’ve ever seen.
“Ace would’ve wanted you to be happy.”
And with that, he walks away.
Later, as Luffy disappears into the horizon with Rayleigh, you stand aboard the Polar Tang, watching until he’s gone.
You don’t know what the future holds.
But for now, you’ll keep moving forward. You're going to train with Law, with the Heart Pirates, and get stronger, until it’s time to reunite with your crew once more and get stronger.

How jjk men peel your oranges!

Choso, Toji, Sukuna, Nanami, Geto, Gojo nd Hiromi
tw: None! one link in hiromi's lol
⋆ ˚。 ⋆୨♡୧⋆ ˚。 ⋆
Choso Kamo
He would peel it for you without hesitation or question. Say you were watching a movie with him on the couch, seeing the main character munch on some delicious looking orange slices. Mouth watering by just looking at them.
All you had to mumble was a quiet, “God, I wish I had an orange right now.” to yourself as he tried to remember if there were any oranges in the kitchen before he stood up. Placing a napkin on the coffee table as he peeled it, trying his best to not make a mess. Plucking a slice from it and handing it to you, “Thank youu-” you hummed, earning a small ‘mhm’ from him.
Leaning your head on his shoulder before he continued to peel off the rest of it. When he finished peeling it, he'd try to pluck the little white bits off of it too. Just to make sure you had the best parts.
Not even asking if you wanted him to bring you one, or asking if you wanted him to peel it. He just did it for you. Choso, my beautiful, 'I show my love in acts of service' bf
Toji Zenin
Hesitatingly he would. Having lunch with him between his jobs, you were talking about something that had happened earlier that day.
Peeling the orange in your own hands, really just taking small pieces off one by one. His eyes kept flashing down to your hands, getting more and more irked by how poorly you were peeling it.
“And I told him-” you were interrupted, he took the sadly peeled orange from your hands with small grumbles.
“Just makin’ a mess-” he huffed, peeling it carefully in his calloused hands as you watched with furrowed eyebrows. He peeled it in the way to form a spiral, trying to avoid the places you had already peeled.
You tried to tell him it was fine- that you could do it. “The things I do for you.” he mumbled in a stern tone, almost cursing himself for what he was doing.
When the orange was bare, he parted the slices for you, placing them on the napkin you had laid out that did a poor job at containing the mess you were making. Taking one for himself to reward his efforts.
Sukuna
No. “You're more than capable of peeling it yourself. You're not special.”
Kento Nanami
Would peel it flawlessly, no white parts left on it. You were sitting on his living room couch trying to finish a proposal for your job, legs taking up most of the couch, rubbing your forehead in frustration.
Nanami saw how upset you looked, and thought of a way to make you feel even a little better. Standing in the kitchen as he peeled two oranges for you, humming a small tune as he gathered all the rinds before tossing them in the trash.
Placing the perfect film-like slices into a small bowl and pouring a glass of water before walking back to the couch.
“Here.” he hummed, leaning down and pressing a kiss to the top of your head. His heart clenched when you looked at him with tired eyes.
“Awe, thank you Kento-” you cooed, taking the bowl in your hands. Seeing him place the glass of water on the coffee table before lifting your legs from the couch, sitting down and placing them back on his lap.
One hand rubbing your shin lovingly as he picked up the book on the side table, prying it open before reading.
Suguru Geto
Would ask you if you wanted him to peel it for you. Eating lunch with him, “I brought you something-” he smiled, his tone warm. Hearing a curious hum come from you, “Remember you told me you hadn't had an orange in a while?” before presenting the fruit to you.
A small gasp left you, smiling before reaching to take it. “Thank you Sugu-” you started, seeing him pull his hand back.
“You don't want me to peel it for you?” he asked, tone serious as though that was the only reason he brought it to you.
“If you want to-” you started, seeing him scoff before taking the small knife on the table and starting to peel it slowly. “So fancy.” you commented, seeing him focus on not tearing the spiral forming from the rind.
“I hate getting the rind under my nails.” he mumbled, focusing on the small fruit in his hands.
“And that's why I haven't eaten one in so long.” you laughed. He tried his best to cut off only the rind- but a few pieces of the orange ended up being taken off. He split it in half before handing you the bigger slices.
Satoru Gojo
Would peel it in a way that made you regret even bringing up oranges. Walking around the school's campus, hearing him talk about how much potential his students had.
Seeing you fiddle with the small orange in your hands, “You gonna eat that or?” he smiled, pulling you out of your own thoughts. You furrowed your eyebrows looking at him, before you realized what he was talking about.
“Oh- I was waiting till I found a napkin. Don't wanna make a mess.” you hummed, his face lit up. Taking it from your hands and smiling/
“This is one of my best tricks-” he giggled, holding the orange between his palms.
“You should let other people tell you they're the best.” you joked, seeing him clap his palms together. Face falling when you realized he warped your orange.
You didn't speak to him till he presented you with a perfectly peeled one, “It doesn't even have the white stuff on it!” he defended, trying to convince you to forgive him.
Pouting as he watched you eat it. “I can’t even have one slice?” he whined, seeing you purposefully make the orange look like it was the most delicious thing you've ever eaten.
“You don't even deserve the rind.” You hummed, seeing him slump in his seat.
Hiromi Higuruma
Would peel it, but in an inconvenient way. Would be having breakfast with you, seeing an unsliced orange next to your plate. Taking it in his hands and looking at you with a stoic face.
“When I was a kid-” he started, peeling the orange tactfully. Watching his hands as you blinked at him. All ears, thinking this was going to be some kind of serious talk.
“I could never figure out how to peel an orange properly.” he scoffed, trying to hold in a hearty laugh. Seeing your eyebrows furrowed almost asking where this was going. “And one day, my father-” he smiled, looking at you with soft eyes.
“-taught me how to peel one, but he said I could only peel them this way for one person.” his fingers ripping the rind and placing the small bits on his plate. He furrowed his eyebrows, looking at the small peel in his hands.
“I didn't understand why-” placing the peeled orange on your plate, “Till he told me that the way into a person's heart- is through laughter.” he finished, looking at you with a strained expression trying not to let out a laugh.
There on your plate, a little orange man staring at you. You gave him a defeated laugh you tried to hold in. In the end he only made a mess, and made the orange warm from how much he molded it in his hands. But the gesture was sweet.

waitress!reader… with s2!rafe cameron!
(based on this request<3)

when rafe protect you from creepy and aggressive customers…
✧・゚: *✧・゚:*
it was a really long day with a lot of customers and no breaks, you were running from tables to tables even if your feet hurt you don’t stop.
today rafe wanted to see you, it has been 2 days and it’s already too long for him but he’ll never admit it, it’s the first time for him, to feel something like this, something real. he’s a player so having feelings for a girl? especially a pogue…? it clearly was new but it was the best thing that happened to him, this warm feeling in his chest everytime he see your face, or everytime he wakes up with the sun shining through the window when he feel your soft body against him and suddenly he feel another warm feeling not coming from the sun, you were special and for him you were the one.
it was now 7pm, almost time for you to go home and talk to your boyfriend for hours but before you go, you decided to take one last table. your kitten heels hitting the floor with confidence, you head to the table of 3 men.
“hello sirs! i’ll be your waitress tonight! have you already decided on what you want to eat?” your voice was soft and polite, too many times already your boss had to correct you because you weren’t smiling enough.
“hello beautiful.. sadly we’ll have to take the soup, you’re not available on menu yet” his drunken laugh and the way his friends laughed with him made your blood run cold. you didn't know what to do or how to react to that, so you just laughed extremely embarrassed by the situation.
“so… 3 soups… noted! it’ll be here soon” after you noted their order you walk away completely lost and scared. you wanted to yell at them and tell them to fuck off but you couldn’t. you couldn’t afford to be fired so you decided to smile and act like nothing happened, it was your last client anyway.
it was time to bring them their order, you walked to their table with the 3 soups like they asked.
“here are your 3 soups!” you said with a fake smile plastered on your face.
they look at you with a disgusting look in their eyes.
“tell me beautiful.. do you have a boyfriend? you probably need a real man to handle you”
“i have a boyfriend, could you please stop?” you were panicked because you knew they wouldn’t stop.
“come on don’t be a prude, share a piece of that ass-” he didn’t even get to finish his sentence that you feel someone behind you.
“she said she wasn’t interested asshole.” as voice that you know too well, it was rafe.
you turn around and look at him in the eyes “ra-“
“it’s none of your business young men… she needs a real man like me to handle her.” the drunk man get up and go face to face with rafe even if rafe was taller than him.
“stop… rafe stop” you put your hand on his arms.
rafe looks like he was in a inner conflict but decided to listen to you and don’t fight more, he takes your hand and was about to walk away to the bar so you could take your things and go but one voice behind them catches rafe’s attention.
“i didn’t want your slut anyway” oh.
rafe didn’t hesitate, he punched the man face with all his strength and didn’t stop until the man was on the floor with a bleeding nose. you start to cry and shake like a leaf. you were yelling rafe’s name so he could stop.
rafe was in a trance until he heard you cry, he get up and go back to his senses. he take a napkin on their table and clean his knuckles with it and turn back to you, you could see on his face that he was sorry but only for you because you had to see this not because of the man. he walks to you and put his strong arms around you, bringing you to his chest.
“i’m so sorry angel..” he whispers in your ear, playing with your hair as he kiss your temple. his gentle touch helps you calm down and without even realizing it you try to get closer to him if it was even possible, craving his touch and his comfort.
at this moment he didn’t care about the world and his reputation, what matters right now is you and your safety but he didn’t want to give a show to the whole island so he softly take your hand in his and take you out of this awful place anyway…
once the both of you arrived at his car you finally realized how tense you were and you completely let go, the tears run down your cheeks, the air exit your lungs and don’t come back. you are having a panic attack now that all the adrenaline is gone.
“hey, hey, hey… my love, breathe” rafe noticed your state immediately and try his best to help, he hold you against his chest, hug you tightly and whisper sweet things to you so you would calm down.
“breathe like me honey, copy my breathing… in…. and out… do it again, in…. and out….” you managed to calm down after a few minutes still in rafe’s arms, he was softly whispering how proud he was of you for calming down and how good you were.
“rafe, i wanna go home…” you said your voice still sore from your crying.
he didn’t ask anything and just led you to his car, saying that we’ll see for your car tomorrow. he opens the passenger door and help you get in, he run to his side and get in and before he started the car he check on you one last time and put his hand on your thigh.
the car finally parks outside of his house, he quickly get out of the car and run to the passenger door to open it for you like a real gentleman causing you to smile softly at him, your eyes were full of love and affection. rafe put his hand on your back and guide you to the front door and open it, the house is beautiful and clearly not the same as yours.
during the whole night he took care of you, made you something to eat with his incredible cooking skills, gave you clothes so you could shower and have something comfy to wear and changed all of his sheets for you to be in the best space possible.
you were done with your shower so you decided to join rafe downstairs, he told you he’ll wait for you in the living room and as you stepped in, your heart could have exploded with joy. rafe was laying on the white sofa with your favorite blanket, a few pillows and your favorite movie on the screen of the big tv.
“come here my love…” he opens his arms for you to lay down on him like a teddy bear and before you do you look at him with the look of love in your eyes and the prettiest smile he has ever seen. as he said.
no light were on and only the light of the screen was illuminating the spacious living room and despite your battle, sleep is beginning to win so you just close your eyes, completely relaxed on rafe’s chest, his heart beat soothing you to sleep with his strong arms around your body, protecting you from everything in this world.
the movie ends and rafe looks down at you, knowing that you fell asleep during the movie like 99% of the time. he takes all the time in the world to look at you, touch you cheeks, kiss your forehead and hug you tighter. after this little moment he finally decides to carry you to his room and put you under the blanket, wrapping you like a little sushi so you won’t be cold. once he lay down, he wraps his arms around you and pull you closer to his chest like a shield. he yawns and realizes how tired he is only once he knows you’re safe.
“i’ll always protect you angel, you’re mine…” he whispers to your sleeping form, kissing your temple one last time before he drifts away to sleep with the love of his life in his arms.

If I could hold you for a minute
Javier Peña x f!Reader
Summary: Javier wants nothing more than to go home to you. And thanks to his partner's generosity, he gets to.
Tags: just pure FLUFF, mayyybe a sprinkle of suggestive humor, established relationship, Steve teases Javi a bunch, Javier is a BIG SIMP (i'm serious)
Warnings: none ♡
Word count: 3.3K
A/N: something different for you guys 🙈 i'm sadly still on semi-hiatus because of my finals, but I managed to finish this little fic as a break from my angsty Joel pieces. i reaaaally hope you all will like it 😌💕 also, it's dedicated to my dumbass in crime @lily-inbloom 🫡😘 luv you babes
This was one of the worst days agent Peña had in a long time, and he wanted nothing more than to go home.
First, two people from Escobar’s inner circle managed to escape the raid on the laboratory in which he and Murphy participated, leaving both of them exhausted and frustrated. Then Melissa gave Javier a bunch of shit because of some documents, and on the way to his desk some asshole bumped into him, making him drop and break his phone. And now they had to stay after hours to wait for Carrillo.
“It’s for you, Peña.”
So yeah. His day was shit so far.
His pity party was cut short when Steve sitting across from him hissed his name again. Javier shot him an irritated look and flipped him off, not in the mood to talk to any informants or their superiors.
“Not now, Murphy,” he grumbled, but his partner still handed him the stationary telephone from their desk, ignoring the hostility radiating from the man.
“Just take it, asshole. She’s worried you’re not answering her calls.”
At that, Javi sat up straight and in a split second took the handset from Steve, pressing it to his ear.
“¿Querida?” he asked quietly, paying no attention to Murphy rolling his eyes and chuckling to himself. There was a sigh of relief on the other end of the line and he furrowed his eyebrows in concern. “Is everything alright?”
“Hi, Javi,” your voice came through the receiver. “You weren’t picking up.”
Almost instantly the tension was lifted from Javier’s shoulders and he exhaled deeply. You had a talent of putting him at ease, even when you weren’t by his side.
“Lo siento, cariño. Some idiot broke my… you know what, it doesn’t matter. Are you okay?”
“Yeah, yeah, I’m fine, just wanted to ask when you finish work? I can swing by and we can go grab some food on the way home.”
He sighed tiredly, rubbing his brows. He hated saying no to you and if he could, Javi would give you the world on a silver platter – but some things, he didn’t have any control over.
“No sé, cariño. We have a shitton of papers to read with Steve, and we’re waiting for Carrillo to fill us in on the latest action. I’ve got no idea how long it’s gonna take, sweetheart.”
Steve lifted his head and shot Javier a teasing look, but Peña ignored him, turning his chair to the side.
“Alright, so what do you say I’ll bring you some takeout? You can also ask Steve what he’d want, I’ll be at this place we went to a week ago–”
“No, querida, no,” he sighed, this time with affection. Your voice was a temptation enough to throw everything to hell and run home to you, but to hear the kindness and love in your words, without even seeing your expression… It was heart-clenching. “We don’t need anything, you just go back home safely. I’ll try to get away from here as soon as I can.”
You didn’t answer at first, but then hummed half-heartedly.
“If you say so. But please, eat something.”
Javi smiled absentmindedly, covering his eyes with his fingers. He imagined your concerned expression, the receiver nestled next to your ear, near the spot he so liked to nuzzle with his nose. “How do you know I haven’t already?”
He could hear a trace of a smirk in your voice.
“I know you, Peña.”
“Too well, I think.”
“You love it, though.”
He chuckled, shaking his head. “Yeah, maybe.” He heard you yawn and the smile disappeared from his face. “You’re tired.”
“No, I’m not. I’ll get to bed when you’re back.”
“I won’t be home for at least a couple more hours, sweetheart,” Javi told you softly. “You can go to sleep.”
“I’ll wait for you,” you repeated stubbornly.
“You don’t have to.”
“I know, cariño.” There was that sweet, teasing note in your tone, and a grin spread across Javier’s face again. “But that will just give you more reasons to come home quickly.”
“I’ll try,” he just offered in a whisper, resting his forehead on his fist. “Call Steve if anything happens, alright?”
“Okay, okay, I will.” Long since gone were the times you’d argue with him about that. You knew how terrified he was at the thought of losing you. “I love you, baby.”
“También te amo.”
He didn’t immediately hang up, waiting just in case you wanted to add something else. The line went dead, however, and with his lips pressed Javi put the phone back in the center of the desk.
“You have it bad, Peña.”
Of course. Javier should’ve known Steve will start to nag at him again.
He reached into his pocket for a cigarette and put it between his lips. He knew you’d complain about the smell on his hair and clothes when he got home, but he was already too stressed out and in a desperate need of a smoke.
“I’m not in the mood, Murphy,” he muttered, pulling out the lighter.
“I thought a conversation with your sweetheart would brighten up your day?”
Javier looked up and just as he suspected, Steve had that same stupid grin on his face, like every time the topic was brought up.
Ever since your and Javi’s relationship became more serious, Steve was taking every opportunity to tease his partner. If Javi was feeling generous, he could kind of understand where his friend is coming from – after all, he himself didn’t think he’d ever act like a dumb teenage boy in the presence of a woman. But something about you mesmerized him from the very beginning, and, miraculously, here you both were, in a steady and loving relationship Javier Peña was always afraid of hoping for.
But alas, it was not a day to be understanding. He glared at Steve when the fellow agent didn’t take a hint.
“Shut up.”
“I wouldn’t say no to a food delivery, you know,” Steve spoke up with a smirk under his mustache. “I’m quite hungry.”
“I’ll sooner hire Escobar to make you sandwiches than let her do it.”
“You wound me, Javi. And to think I was about to take care of Carrillo and let you go home early.”
Javier looked up in surprise at his friend’s knowing smile. Then he blinked, slowly and tiredly, wondering if he didn’t misheard.
“Really?” he asked suspiciously, to which Steve shrugged.
“Why not? I’m in no rush since Connie and Olivia are in Miami, and as funny as it is to watch you yearn and pine, your brooding gets annoying after a while.” Javi didn’t move from his place, so Steve nodded in the direction of the exit. “Just go home to her, Peña. Before I change my mind.”
The face of the agent broke into a smile before he could collect himself. He stood up so quickly that he bumped his hip against the desk, but it didn’t phase him one bit. With a quick shove across the desktop, he swept all the documents to the folder and took his gun from the drawer, tucking it into his jeans.
Murphy was watching him with a smirk.
“You owe me, Javi.”
“Sure,” his partner replied over his shoulder, grabbing his jacket. “I’ll get you a sandwich tomorrow.”
A quiet laugh followed him when Peña promptly ran out of their office.
*****
After the call with Javi you tried to find yourself an occupation, intending to stay up as long as you could. He was working like crazy lately, sometimes not even coming home for the night, so a chance to finally spend some time with him – even if it would only be for half an hour – was something you didn’t want to miss.
So you wandered around his apartment. You read a little, watched TV, tidied up the cutlery drawer, folded Javi’s shirts, and now you got onto washing the dishes left from your dinner two days ago.
You were humming quietly, that stupid song which seemed to play on every radio as of late, when you heard a small sound from the hall. You paused and turned off the tap, your heart pounding in your chest, and sure enough there was it again – but this time you clearly recognized it as a key turning in the lock.
Before you could think of what to do, the door opened and Javi came in, locking eyes with you immediately. You blinked slowly, rooted to the spot with your hands lifted, still covered in water and soapsuds.
“Javi?” you asked in surprise. “What are you doin–”
Without saying a word, Javier came up to you in two long strides and put his hands around your waist, dipping you back and kissing you deeply. You made a noise in your throat, moving your wet hands aside, but then sighed contentedly as his lips caressed yours.
“I missed you, cariño. So much,” Javier murmured, not moving further away from your lips than two millimeters apart. “Couldn’t wait to get home to you.”
“But what about– Steve, and…” you tried to ask during those brief moments when he gave you a second to take a breath, but was unable (and unwilling) to move away when he was holding you so tightly.
“They’ll be fine,” Javier murmured, moving his hands to your cheeks to cradle them tenderly. “Steve said he’ll handle it.”
He firmly pressed his lips to yours one more time, his eyebrows scrunched with affection. You didn’t ask anything else, instead wrapping your arms around his neck, still careful not to get his clothes wet. After almost a minute of tender kisses and whispered Spanish phrases, Javi rested his forehead against yours with a content sigh. His eyes were closed and he just hummed when you nudged his nose with yours.
“You weren’t supposed to be home for the next few hours,” you said quietly.
“It was a damn torture. I couldn’t wait, hermosa,” he murmured and exhaled heavily. “God, I needed this.”
A bright smile spread across your face at the thought of this man thinking about and longing to see you so much. He sounded so stressed out and tired over the phone, but now it was like all nerves left him for just a moment.
“Do you want me to make you something to eat?” you asked in a whisper, but Javi shook his head.
“No. Just stay here.”
“I have to rinse the dishwashing liquid off my hands, though. And you need to take a shower.”
“Are you saying I smell?”
“A little. But I mostly mean the cigarette smoke on your hair.”
Javi sighed, murmuring something under his breath. You gave him a peck on the lips. “Go on, cariño. I’ll get everything ready and then we can lay down.”
Javier grumbled, displeased, but didn’t argue any further. “You’ll have to make it up to me, sweetheart.”
“If you manage to keep your eyes open.” Your comment made him crack a smile and you mirrored it. “Go shower. And then come back to me.”
Javi sighed but obediently went towards the bathroom, putting down his aviators and the gun on the table on the way there. You watched him fondly, your heart still swelling with love at how relieved he looked to see you. He must’ve felt your attention on him, somehow, because he turned around in the doorway and sent you a smirk.
“If you like the view so much, you can hop into the shower with me,” he teased, and you hummed, pretending to consider it.
“I would, but then it wouldn’t be a ‘quick shower’.” He smiled knowingly, and you scrunched your nose at him. “Javi, the longer you stand here, the less time we’ll have for cuddles.”
“You raise a good point, hermosa.”
With one last look he disappeared in the bathroom and you shook your head at his antics. A few seconds later you heard the sound of rushing water, so you hurried to your shared bedroom to get everything ready.
You pulled down the blinds and flipped the pillows to the colder side, and then swiftly changed into one of Javier’s shirts you liked to sleep in. You also took his gun from the table, knowing he preferred to have it within reach when he was resting with you.
Earlier that day you started to clean the cupboards, so the room was pretty messy. You spent a couple of minutes putting the piles of clothes and various knick knacks in their places, trying to be as quick as possible. Then you heard the water in the bathroom stopping, and it only took Javi two more minutes before he emerged from the bathroom in nothing but his boxers.
His hair was wet and chest bare, and exhaustion was marking his handsome features, painting shadows over his face. Without a second of hesitation Javi went up to you and wrapped his arms around your middle. You wanted to say that you’ll be done in a moment, but didn’t get a chance – he hid his face in the crook of your neck, grumbling tiredly, and started dragging you backwards to the bed. You swat at him with laughter, but those strong arms of his just held onto you tighter.
“Cariño, I still have to finish–”
“Leave it. You don’t have to do anything.”
“Javi…”
“Come lay with me, mi sol.” He softly pressed his lips to the sensitive skin on your neck, making you shiver. You felt him smirking. “Come on. Please.”
You faltered at this word, so rarely used by him. He sighed into your shoulder and swayed you two gently from side to side.
Javi was right. Everything else could wait.
You lifted his hand to your lips and kissed his knuckles gently, feeling him relax behind your back.
“Alright,” you murmured. “Come here, baby.”
He hummed and kissed your neck again, then your shoulder, sneaking his hands under your – technically his – shirt.
“Have I ever told you how pretty you look in my clothes?” he asked quietly.
“Every time I wear it.” You felt him take a breath, but you beat him to it. “And don’t say they’d look even better on the floor.”
Javi chuckled and hugged you tighter, still slowly moving backwards with you. “Not this time. Just wanna have you in my arms.”
“You mean in your bed?” You couldn’t help but tease him, and yelped when he bit your neck lightly.
“Don’t tempt me.”
When you two reached the bed, Javi stopped and slowly turned you around before sitting down. You took his face in your hands, staring down at him lovingly, while he gently ran his palms up and down your thighs. He did look tired, with the exhaustion and sadness swimming in his beautiful dark eyes. After a moment he exhaled shakily and leaned forward, resting his forehead on your stomach.
“Wanna lie down?” you whispered softly, and he nodded without a word. “Okay. Come here.”
You gently released yourself from his hold and laid down, immediately reaching for Javier and tugging him to lay on top of you.
The moment his head touched your chest, Javi exhaled heavily with relief, closing his eyes. You ran your fingers through his hair, brushing the wet strands aside.
“Do you need anything?” you asked quietly, but he just muttered 'no' with a light shake of his head.
“I’ve got everything I need right here, querida.”
You grinned warmly, though he couldn’t see it. “You’re quite a romantic, Javier Peña.”
He chuckled under his breath, lifting himself slightly to meet your adoring gaze. “I thought you already knew all about it.”
“Did I?” you asked playfully, to which he lifted his head.
“What more can I tell you?” he murmured, leaning over you and smirking when your breath hitched in your throat. His brown irises danced across your face, drinking your features in. “Do you wanna hear how all I think about while working are your lips and the sound of your laugh? How the time spent together isn’t nearly enough for me to fully revel in you? Or…”
“Okay, that’s enough,” you said sheepishly, making Javi grin victoriously. “You’re probably spending that time in the office not thinking about me but of ways to mess with me.”
“Tal vez, mi sol.” He pressed his lips to the corner of your mouth and moved lower, whispering into your skin. “But I do wish I could spend more time with you.”
“I know, cariño.” You brushed his hair to the back with your fingers, scratching his occiput. “But it’s not your fault.”
He hummed without conviction, still busy kissing every inch of your skin he could reach. One of his hands went to your waist, his thumb tracing small circles there, while the other climbed up to your hand, entwining your fingers together.
“Didn’t you want to get some rest?” you asked breathlessly, trying to keep your composure. Your face was hot, and Javi hummed smugly at the pitch of your voice. He lifted his head and brushed your cheek with his knuckles, his hand still holding yours.
“I wanted to spend time con mi hermoso sol.” He touched his forehead to yours lovingly, gazing deeply into your eyes. “I was serious when I said you’re all I need.”
“I think you need some sleep, too.”
Javi grumbled, seemingly giving in, and kissed you sleepily one last time. His eyes were already closing and his mustache scratched your skin lightly.
“No, querida. Just you.”
*****
The next morning, Steve came to work to the sight of Javier trapping you with his arms against his desk. He was leaving soft pecks on your lips every once in a while – so unlike the Peña Murphy had known before – murmuring something to you with a smile, causing you to giggle, too. You tried to slip out of his grasp, but Javier just pulled you closer. The pair was obviously lost in the moment because neither of them noticed Steve, until he threw a pile of files onto his desk.
“Morning, guys,” he said nonchalantly, eyeing your bashful beam and Javi’s crooked smile with a smirk. He noted that his partner looked way better than yesterday. “D’you get any sleep?”
“Actually, I did.” Javier gazed over at you and squeezed your hand with this look of a lovesick puppy that Steve mocked so often. “Don’t remember the last time I’ve slept so well.”
“Happy to hear it, because we have a lot to do today.” He sat down and began organizing the notes from Carrillo’s report yesterday, wanting to fill his partner in as soon as possible. He heard Peña sigh.
“Of course.” He glanced up to see the other man stand up and kiss you lovingly – once, twice – before you lightly shoved him back onto the armchair. Steve rolled his eyes when Javi brought your hand to his lips, leaving one last lingering kiss, and then finally letting go of you.
“I’m gonna be late because of you,” you accused him, but he only smirked.
“Lo siento, cariño. Have a good day.”
You said your goodbyes to Steve and turned back to the exit. Murphy shook his head and met his partner’s dark eyes, sparkling with adoration.
“You really have it bad, Peña.”
He didn’t receive any answer, so he just smiled to himself and got back to arranging his desk.
He didn’t get a second of peace, however, because suddenly a paper bag was dropped on the documents he was just filing. Two – a bit squashed – sandwiches were peeking out from the brown paper.
Steve lifted his head, ready to throw another teasing comment, but Javier’s eyes – still full of that raw love – were focused solely on your figure leaving their office.

How this ends

Alexia Putellas x reader
Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4
A note from the author: This is an older draft that i have yet to share. The song is inspired by Lewis Capaldi’s «How this ends». I see every comment you write and I see every repost with a note added to it. I’m forever grateful for the love you give my writing. Thank you so so much. I’m endlessly grateful.
Warnings: angst.
Summary: Alexia decides that after 13 years, she’s done.
-
Alexia knew it was all for the best. A part of her wishes that she had never met you, that she has never let herself fall in love with you, that she never allowed herself to feel all those wonderful feelings you brought into her life. It was a selfish decision, and Alexia knew that. But in her mind, the only solution was calling it off.
She could see you slowly slipping away from her grip. Like you were slowly fading from a painting that she had once painted. Like someone was erasing you from the story she was writing. A part of her wishes that you had never gotten to this point. And she hates that you understand and that you still love her. She wanted you to hate her. To tell her that she was the most awful person in the world. To tell her that she didn’t deserve anything good to happen to her. Instead, you accepted her decision with grace. You slowly packed your bags over the next few weeks, bringing more and more stuff over to your friend, Frido’s house. With each item that disappeared, it felt like a piece of you slipped away.
Alexia was also somewhat embarrassed. Her sister, Alba, had convinced her that you were using her for her money. That you wanted her to quit football. That you eventually were planning to run away from her with her money and her house. She didn’t know how she had allowed herself to believe her sister. But, they had been best friends growing up. She trusted her. She trusted her judgment of you. But she forgot to consider that the pair of you had spent years together. You had gotten together when you were 13. Now, 13 years later. It had all come to an end.
You left out a quiet sight as you walked around in the cold, empty apartment. You traced your fingers along the beautiful carvings on the walls feeling that familiar gloss finish you had agreed upon years prior. The feeling is seeing this home turn into just an apartment was haunting. It hurt in a way that only could be described as crushing. Your footsteps led you around the apartment to the door of what once was your shared walk in closet. You reached for the door and opened it. It was half empty. More than half empty actually, if you were to take the things you had purchased, then Alexia would be left with basically nothing to her name except a few boxers, some socks and a set of sweats. Your gaze shifted to your side of the closet. The memory of standing there for hours trying to pick the perfect outfit for Alexia’s social events was woken back to life. It made you smile sadly. God, you thought to yourself, you loved getting ready for her. The chandelier was hanging in the middle of the room, and you offered it a gaze while your hand rested on the light switch. The chandelier sparkled in reflection of the light, reminding you of why you had purchased it. Speaking of the chandelier, it was also something that you had purchased for your own money. You sighted as you turned off the lights and closed the door shut.
You passed your guest room on your way to the bedroom. It made you smile. The memories of a drunken Mapi that had lost her keys and Ingrid’s keys while going out for a drink. She had camped in your guest room, unannounced. Ingrid had been so confused when she called Alexia to ask if she had seen Mapi. You smiled as you took a last gaze over the room. Seeing all the things you had purchased alone because Alexia didn’t have the time to go shopping. She’d told you that you could take her credit card, and you did. But she didn’t know that you never used it.
You continued to the main bedroom. To your bedroom. Where you had spent hours listening to Alexia’s dreams and hopes. Where you had watches dumb arguments unfold over stress and pressure from work. It was strange, how her dreams had changed over the decade. From wishing to play for a living to dreaming of the ballon d’or. It was always strange, how none of her dreams were about the pair of you. It was always her dreams, her wishes and her hopes. It wasn’t always like that. Once, she was your Alexia. That would bring home flowers. That would dream about weddings, kids and growing old together. Football took that part of her away, and maybe you could’ve been more consistent. Asked more. Understood more. Waited more. Then maybe Alexia could’ve still been your Alexia. Your eyes closed in hopes of stopping the burning feeling you felt in you eyes. It didn’t help, really. You flipped the lights off and shut the door.
Then you moved on to the next room. There was the bathroom. You favourite room. The place that had seen all the things that you didn’t tell people about, not even Alexia or Frido. The place where you cried, laughed, screamed, had occasional sex and spent most of your sick days. Where you had found yourself sat after the losses of all your pregnancies. This room was your sanctuary. It was where you could allow yourself to feel whatever you needed to feel. Where you’d allow the tears to quietly hit the drain while you felt neglected and abandoned. But, yet, you stayed. You stayed, again and again and again. Hoping that your girlfriend would return to her normal self. To get her fame out of her ass. But the turning point you had been hoping and praying for, never came. You looked over at the vanity. Just Alexia’s toothbrush left. No toothpaste. She never bought her own. She never really bought anything for the apartment because she didn’t have the time. You spent hours decorating, shopping, furnishing and trying to bring some life into the empty shell Alexia once had purchased. The floor behind you made a squeak, and you knew Alexia were behind you. You caught your breath, turned off the lights and closed the door.
Your feet then walked towards the living room. The core of the apartment. It had some of the most gorgeous views that you had ever encountered. Anything from gloomy stunning sunrises to slow beautiful sunsets. You were particularly pleased with the look of the room. It was warm and welcoming, but also bright and modern. The white walls matched the white soft couch. You sat down in the couch and let your fingertips run across it. It still made you feel cozy. Like you wanted to wake up from this nightmare and wrap yourself up in a warm blanket. This dumb couch that you had paid a ridiculous amount of money for. Where you and Frido had found yourself at the most ungodly hour gossiping about the players and the people at your job. The spot where you and Alexia once had spent hours giggling, watching sad movies, doing face masks and watching games of football. The thought of your lighthearted memories made during your earlier days brought a well wanted smile to your face.
Your eyes caught the door of the balcony. You loved that balcony endlessly. Your hand searched for the handle as you opened up the door taking in the fresh Barcelonian air. The views from the balcony was undoubtedly the most stunning views of Barcelona. You could see the beach, hear the waves and smell the salty air. The combination of sensations was enough to make anyone want to buy the place. You remembered when you and Alexia had the time to sit outside. Drinking glasses of Wine in the off season, eating watermelon that you had picked up at the local market after games. The mix of your favourite fruit and your favourite person brought tears to your eyes. Things were different now. So different that you couldn’t even have imagined in your wildest dreams that you would’ve been here. Everything was complicated. Painful. You shut the door to the balcony and locked it for the last time.
Your last stop was the kitchen. The intention of stopping by it hadn’t been on your mind, but you passed it as you were heading towards the entrance. You remember all the nights you spent making pasta with Alexia wrapped around your waist. Her standing behind you, embracing you pretending that she wanted to learn when all she really wanted was to be close to you. To hold you tight. All the morning coffees you had shared, Alexia always insisted on drinking her coffee pitch black while you preferred to ice yours. You’d try different types of syrups and flavors to perfect your coffee. Down the lane, she was convinced that maybe iced coffee wasn’t too bad. But only when the coffee was made by you. Your gaze shifted to the countertops. The spot where you would make sure always had Alexia’s favourite red apples. Only the crispy kind though. Before you moved, you closed your eyes. You didn’t understand why your efforts were never enough. Why your patience was never enough for Alexia. You accepted anything she threw at you. Cancelled dates, missed anniversaries and forgotten birthdays. Always understanding that work was her focus. That football was her number one. Yet, you loved her. You still do. But you are so confused. And so hurt.
It was stange and painful. But you couldn’t stay there anymore. It was not right, and it was not how you wanted things to be like at this point in your life. Things had changed so fast. Faster than anyone could’ve expected. Some changes for the good, and some for the worse. You held a tight grip on my phone as you stood there with my eyes closed not wanting to leave the comfort of what once had been your home. The thought of someone’s living eventually moving in with Alexia, having new memories and living in all the furniture that you once had purchased pained you. A sob escaped your lips while tears were silently rolling down your cheeks. Alexia stood next to the entrance staring at the ground.
“Well” you said letting out a laugh. “I guess this is it”
Alexia looked at you with sorrow in her eyes, not saying anything. It felt like room was on fire. Like everything was shutting down. Like the world was brutally coming to an ends
“I’m sorry that I couldn’t be enough for you, Alexia. I really tried to be what you needed for 10 years. I’m sorry I couldn’t be that. Maybe in the next lifetime? “
She didn’t say a word. Just looked at you with an empty look in her eyes.
You walked towards the door. And put your hand on the handle before turning to Alexia. Your hand reached for your pocket. It was the promise ring she gave you at 20. When she promised that you would get engaged one day. You held the ring tight in your hand looking down at your hand. Then you looked at Alexia who just stood there. You took a deep breath before you kissed her cheek and opened her hand. You placed the ring in her hand before looking at her with a sad grin. Her eyes looked at the ring before her gaze turned towards you. She looked like someone had stolen her puppy.
“Que? Why are you giving me your ring?”
“It’s not mine to wear anymore, Ale”
“Ai, no! I gave it to you, si?”
“Yes?”
“Vale, that means it’s yours”
You looked at her with a sad look in your eyes before giving her a sad smile and shaking your head.
“Goodbye, Alexia”
Then you turned your back and walked away. The few items you had left in the apartment, had now been placed in a reusable ikea bag that you borrowed from Frido. You couldn’t help but let a few tears fall to the ground as you walked away. Every cell in your body wanted you to turn around. To run back into Alexia’s arms. To beg her to take you back. It took all the strength in your body to walk down to the spot where Frido was gonna pick you up. If you had turned around, you wouldn’t have been able to leave. The only reason you were able to keep walking was because you loved Alexia more than yourself. If she was happy and she got whatever she needed, then you were gonna be okay. Eventually, at least.
*Alexia pov*
A few days after you left for good, she came home from another horrible day at work. She locked the door and spirited to your her bedroom. She laid down on your side of the bed in complete darkness. Her face was staring into the pitch black ceiling. A lump formed in her throat and the tears were pressing on her eyelids. She hadn’t eaten much since you broke up. She hadn’t even slept much. Her workouts had been shitty. And she didn’t know how to function. She thought that she had gotten too attached. That you controlled her life to much. She had been so sure that what Alba said was true that she forgot to think for herself.
However, as she was laying down in complete darkness on your side of the bed. She realised her terrible mistake. Her eyes widened as soon as she realised. She had let other people’s thoughts become her own. She remembered all the times you had missed things for her. All the times she was a shitty girlfriend. She made you miss your nieces first birthday , your parents 30th wedding anniversary and the funeral of your grandmother. What had she sacrificed? What had she given to make the relationship work? She bought the apartment. But you bought the furniture. You made the house a home. You had wanted kids and marriage , and she wanted that too. But then there was football. And you said you’d wait, and alexia had promised you that she would make it happen. You had given everything you wanted away while Alexia got it all. No compromises, just you always accepting all the shit she threw at you.
She didn’t know where it all went wrong. By now, her tears were streaming down her face. Her hands clutching your pillow like it was the last source of water left at this planet. Her lungs desperately breathing in your scent, terrified to forget what you smelled liked One day she was being scolded by her mami for not purposing to you. The next day, Alba insisted that you were using her. But you made her life easier, better, enjoyable. You showered her with the purest kind of love that she didn’t even deserve. Alexia felt confused. Embarrassed. Scared. Angry. You were always so good to here even though she was a horrible girlfriend. She had let the love of her live walk out of the doors, forever. She had made the biggest mistake of her life. She couldn’t accept that this is how it ends. She needed to fix this.

I smiled, already pushing open the door to my husband's office even as I knocked. We were due to leave for a month long anniversary trip together, and I'd just finished securing the last of our preparations. Now, the final step was rounding up Anthony from his duties as Viscount.
If it had been up to him, I knew he would've thrown every last piece of paper in the trash if it meant leaving with me a moment sooner for our trip. But most of his family relied on him to run the estate for all their wellbeing, and he had to make sure things would stay in order even while we were away. When I stepped through into the room from the hallway, I found him leaning over a stack of papers on his desk, one hand tangled in his hair and the other scribbling away. He didn't even look up as I entered the room.
"Apologies, my love," he mumbled, still writing as I shut the door gently behind me and crossed the room to his desk. "I am almost done, and then we will be free to shut out the world once again and enjoy our time, just the two of us, however we like."
"I truly cannot wait," I replied, a devilish smirk pulling at the corner of my mouth as I settled in to perch on the edge of his desk. "Is there anything I can do to help speed along the process?"
"I wish, but sadly there is not. Fortunately for both of us, this is my last document to complete, and once it is done we will be free to leave."
As if Anthony's words had summoned her from the ether, as soon as he'd finished speaking, a knock came at the door to his study. A moment later, without waiting for a response from Anthony or myself, Eloise pushed open the door and stepped inside.
"Oh good, you are both here," she said, her shoulders noticably relaxing when she caught sight of me. Anthony paused his writing to close his eyes and sigh as Eloise crossed the room and plopped into one of the chairs directly before Anthony's desk. I fought a smile. "I have a... slight situation, which I need to make you aware of."
I bit the inside of my lip to hold back a laugh or a sigh, although I wasn't sure which my body would've manifested. I adored Eloise, but in this family, 'situations' most often meant 'boarderline scandal', and I had a bad feeling whatever Eloise's situation would entail may delay Anthony and I's departure much longer than either of us wanted.
"What is it, Eloise?" I asked after getting a hold of myself, making a point of keeping my tone even and patient. She glanced nervously from me to Anthony, who had resumed work on the document before him.
"I need both of your attention, actually," she said, a slight edge of irritation in her voice directed at her brother. "That is, if it isn't too much trouble."
Anthony let out a sigh, the duration as long as it took for him to finish writing his last notes on the last document standing between us and our vacation. He set it aside, then finally turned his attention to his sister.
"What is it, Eloise?"
"I may have... a bit of a problem on my hands." I raised an eyebrow, and I could see Anthony working his jaw. Eloise glanced between us, and I tried to keep an open expression on my face to encourage her. It must have worked, because after a moment, she continued. "It seems there is a Lord who took my jokes about marriage more seiously than I intended. I think... he may be coming to you to ask for my hand very soon, and you must tell him no."
"Eloise-"
Anthony barely managed to get his sister's name out before the door to the study came swinging open again, this time revealing Francesca striding through the door.
"Oh, I am glad I caught the both of you before you departed for your trip," she said, looking to me and Anthony before her eyes at last fell on Eloise, and she frowned. "Is this not a good time?"
"What's one more?" said Anthony with a tight smile. I hid a laugh behind my hand. Anthony was always the dutiful older brother, although he wasn't always good at hiding his occasional irritation with the role. Fortunately, his sisters either didn't notice or didn't care.
"I need to speak with you about wedding arrangements, Anthony," said Francesca, taking a seat next to Eloise. "Especially since the two of you will be gone for so long, I do not want to leave all the planning to the last minute if I can avoid it."
"Alright, well-"
This time, an almost cacophanous noise from the hallway served as the interruption. As if they'd known we were gathering, and that Anthony and I were almost free of our responsibilities, the remaining four Bridgerton children living in the house appeared, practically wrestling through the door and paired off in arguments. Hyacinth made it to us first, Colin trailing right behind her, neither of them giving their seated sisters a second glance as they addressed Anthony.
"Colin intends to marry someone!" Hyacinth cried over the noise of the rest of us. "We made a bet that if I bested him at pall-mall, he would tell me who, but now he is refusing-"
"Hyacinth, enough!" Colin broke in, shouting over his sister to no avail.
"He is going to have to tell you at some point anyway, Anthony, so it may as well be now so as to honor the terms of our bet-"
"I am not required to tell you or anyone else in this family until I desire to, Hyacinth-"
"Except that you made a bet, Colin, and are now being a sore loser."
Anthony sighed, his attention turning to the last pair, Benedict and Gregory, while Hyacinth and Colin continued to bicker before him. I reached out and gently rested a hand on his shoulder, although I doubted it did much to help.
"I told Benedict I want to learn what it takes to run a household like this," Gregory said, taking Anthony's attention as his cue to start explaining.
"And I told him to come ask you," Benedict said, flopping comfortable into a chair to one side of the room, closer to me. He leaned back, getting comfortable as he watched the scene playing out before him, not reacting to Gregory's scowl.
"But I want to learn sooner rather than later, so it has to be him!" Gregory continued, giving Benedict another stink eye. "He's going to be taking care of things while you're gone, and with the two of you, who knows how long that's going to be!"
I stifled a laugh as Gregory gestured to Anthony and I. He was right, we did have a tendancy to extend our trips beyond their planned length, in the name of spending more time just the two of us.
Anthony took a deep breath and closed his eyes, then snapped back to attention with a huffy sigh.
"Alright, Gregory-"
"What? Gregory? I was here first, and I assure you my issue is more pressing," Eloise broke in. Anthony turned to her with a clenched jaw.
"Fine, Eloise, then tell me-"
"Hyacinth, really! That is unladylike language! Anthony, did you hear what she just called me?"
"I meant it, and I will say it again if I must, Colin!"
Anthony growled, ripping his attention from Eloise to the next sibling in line. Everyone continued to talk over each other, the noise in the room rising as rapidly as Anthony's frustration. Normally, I would've been proud of him for taking the calmer, more patient approach with his siblings, but clearly that wasn't going to work in this case.
I let the chaos continue for another few moments while I counted to ten in my head. When it showed no signs of slowing down, and in fact seemed to be spiralling even more out of control, I put my fingers in my mouth and let out a long, earsplitting whistle that I normally reserved for getting someone's attention a long way off in the vast countryside outdoors.
Everyone in the room stopped mid-sentence and whirled around to look at me with wide eyes. I looked right back, head high and one eyebrow raised.
"That is quite enough, from all of you," I said, my tone at a normal level and much calmer than any of the Bridgerton siblings. "First of all, Francesca, I'm afraid your wedding plans will have to wait until we return. Think about them and plan what you can, and I promise Anthony and I will both make time to go over everything with you the minute we are back in this house."
Francesca nodded and gave me a small smile.
"That works just fine. I did not realize how... pressed upon by my other siblings you would be in the final moments before you leave."
That got a round of insulted outbursts, but they all quieted down again and returned their attention to me when I pointedly cleared my throat. Francesca had always loved me for my unique ability to at least temporarily usher in peace in the household.
I turned my attention to Benedict, with slightly narrowed eyes.
"You," I said, letting the word hang in the air for a moment. Benedict had the decency to look concerned. "You are going to let Gregory shadow you. He wants to learn, so let him. It won't hurt you any, and if he feels he still has more to learn when we return, then Anthony can take him."
Benedict huffed and crossed his arms, so I kept my stare on him for a few long moments. While it wouldn't matter much whether he followed through on our promise while we were gone, for all our sakes I didn't want to come home to find they'd been fighting and having issues the entire time Anthony and I had been away. After a moment, Benedict rolled his eyes, but also nodded, which was enough to satisfy me.
"Good. Then Hyacinth, Colin does not have to tell you anything about whom he is intending to pursue if he does not want to. And, like the rest of us, we cannot do more than simply guess."
Colin crossed his arms and smiled, looking quite satisfied with himself, but I maintained significant eye contact with Hyacinth. So far, she had correctly guessed the affections of all of her siblings before any of the siblings in question were ready to admit those affections, even to themselves. With Colin especially, I knew she had an idea who he was intending to pursue, and she didn't need his confirmation to be confident in being correct. We'd all seen how he'd been acting around Penelope lately.
The corner of Hyacinth's mouth quirked up in a quick smile, and she gave me a nod. I returned the gesture, then turned at last to Eloise.
"Finally, Eloise. Since when do you need your brother to empower you to turn a man down? You know you have our full support, with whomever you decide to reject or accept."
Eloise raised an eyebrow and cut her stare towards Anthony. I heard him sigh beside me, but when I turned to him, he nodded his agreement with my statement, so I continued.
"El, if this man has truly gotten it in his head to marry you and you do not feel the same, simply tell him so. If he proposes, turn him down, knowing full well that your family stands behind you. Since when have you needed your brother to speak your mind for you?"
Eloise scoffed and scowled, then stood and squared her shoulders. She shot an especially strong glare at Anthony as she spoke.
"I don't."
Anthony flung his hands out at the unwarranted hostility directed his way, but Eloise and I ignored him.
"You are absolutely right you don't. If you need our help you will have it, Eloise, as you always have our support. But I know you, and I know you are capabale of telling this man to leave you alone without help. And I think you may even enjoy it."
The corner of Eloise's mouth turned up again, more noticably this time, and she nodded. With all the siblings' various issues sorted, they were much calmer, nodding their thanks in my direction and largely ignoring poor Anthony as they filed out the way they'd come in with much less chaos. Once the door to the study closed behind the last of them, I turned to my husband with a smile. The intensity of his stare almost made me melt on the spot.
"Have I told you lately that you are, beyond a doubt, the perfect woman?"
I laughed, leaning into Anthony as he wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his lap. His hand found its way to the back of my neck, gently pulling me into a heated kiss. I let myself be swept away with him for a few moments, indulging in the kiss and resting my hands on his chest, but pulled away with a laugh as Anthony's hands started wandering places inappropriate for his office, when his siblings had just barged in a moment ago.
Anthony frowned and let out a dissatisfied grunt, attempting to tug me back into his chest, but I didn't let him.
"Anthony, we are about to leave for our travels together, celebrating our time as husband and wife. We will have plenty of opportunity to continue this somewhere we cannot be interrupted by your family."
"Damn them," Anthony breathed, leaning forward to match my movement. "I only care about you."
"Hmm, and I you, my love. But consider this: every additional moment we delay our departure in this house, is another moment one of your siblings may return with a new problem for us to address."
Anthony paused, considering my words for a moment. Then, he sprang up, sweeping me into his arms and carrying me with him.
"You make an excellent point. I think it is time for us to away, Mrs. Bridgerton. We can finish our other business in the carriage on our way out of town."
I laughed as Anthony pulled me after him from the room, leaving all the work and pressure that came with being Viscount in the office behind us. His family, despite their earlier demonstration, could manage perfectly well without us, at least for a time. And we'd each more than earned a break for just the two of us. As always, everything here would be waiting for us when we returned.

DP x DC prompt [17]
Tucker meets Danny (no not that one, Danny Temple) through a Reddit about being a reincarnated important person.
They bond over a period of several weeks over their struggles with sudden positions of power and the responsibilities that come with that and surprisingly also over having a vigilante friend.
Danny Temple laments the fact that he hasn't seen his vigilante friend in a long while and his cult is keeping him busy so he can't just go out there and meet up
Tucker figures he could do his new buddy a favour. Kidnap some vigilante as a show of... friendship? General approval? To Signal that are allies or something. Drop him in egypt or wherever Danny's cult is at so they can catch up without anyone getting suspicious or whatever.
Shouldn't be too hard...
Though, wait, maybe he should keep kidnapping more as a last resort kinda thing. He should first just try to get the vigilante to act on their own by simply leaving an anonymous tip about their hidden, secret, possibly nefarious meeting. That seems less risky than full on kidnapping.
Tucker plans on asking his Danny, the Phantom one, on how he might get lured into a situation like that. Tucker doesn't really want to involve him in the actual action though... he'd feel bad if Danny took a hit on his reputation for this.
On that note. Tucker should ask his other Danny who exactly his vigilante friend is.
"Oh! It's Red Robin" he looks so proud about it.
Tucker realises he's going to have to step up his game a bit more cause he's sure tricking one of the Gotham birds is going to be a bit harder than your average teen hero (the kidnapping plan is starting to look even less appealing now...). But let it never be said he backs down from a challenge!
---
During a video chat while team Phantom is at Nasty Burger;
"Hey Danny come meet Danny"
Danny looks up from his food to see what Tucker is doing, "You're having way too much fun with our names being the same"
A voice pipes up from Tucker's PDA with laughter, "it's very confusing sometimes"
"Anyway, hi Danny, I'm Danny"
Danny T can be seen grinning on the screen, "Hello Danny I'm- oh damn, that's even weirder"
Now Tucker and Danny are both confused.
"You look just like my buddy Tim"
Danny seems to find the whole thing funny so Tucker leaves the two of them to it and focuses on his own extra mega beef burger until he overhears Danny T go "oh he's in Gotham now sadly so-"
"Hm? Who?" Tucker asks and Danny distractedly goes "Tim" before going back to his conversation with other Danny and Tucker's brain is slowly putting a few pieces together before tossing it aside.
Massive coincidence that this Tim guy and Red Robin both are in Gotham, and besides, there are a gazillion Tim's on the planet. So without a last name there is no way he-
"-and last time I heard he's majority shareholder in WE and works closely with the CEO Lucius Fox. So we're both in like, leadership positions"
Oh his friend is Tim Drake.
"You're friends with Tim Drake!" Tucker butts in
A startled "woah" can be heard from both Danny's.
Meanwhile Sam finished pulling up Tim's latest news article that has a photo attached. "He's right, you two do look alike"
Danny T makes a little surprised noise "oh he stopped wearing glasses"
But really, it's probably just a huge coincidence that both are in Gotham, his friend, haven't been in touch in a while, Tim clearly has the money to do vigilante stuff if he felt like it.
... Tucker figures he could keep an ear out for any drama in the Wayne family before he makes his move. It might actually keep any other bats and birds from getting involved, and isn't that insane to think about?

Rhysand x reader
For day 4 of @acotar-omegaverse-week — Getting Knotty: …you really didn't think we'd have omegaverse week without a whole day for knots, did you?
a/n: this is kind of short but I’m hoping also relatively sweet/soft 🧡💛
warnings: cockwarming; knots; edging…?; soft Rhys; fluff; sub reader
word count: 1,208
——————————————————————————————————————————————
You squirm in his lap, hips shifting faintly as you aim for some kind of stimulation.
Rhys grunts faintly from the movement, feeling you tighten around him as inner muscles flex to aid your positioning. “Darling,” he chastises, “keep still. You’ve a while left yet.”
“But Rhys…” You pull back far enough to peer up at him, trying to look as fuckable as possible to tempt him to give in. Sadly, he seems immune this particular evening, simply settling back in his chair and stroking his palm over the crown of your head. “Are you going to behave? Or should I put you over my lap?”
“I’ll behave,” you try to negotiate, “but I want…” You fumble over the finish, still getting too flustered to voice your needs. He’s been nothing but encouraging and comforting in the bedroom, and yet bashfulness keeps you quiet, glancing away with hot cheeks.
“Darling. What is it?” Deft fingers delicately push beneath your jaw, inclining your chin to meet his twinkling eyes, “Talk to me.” Your flush deepens, hips instinctively tilting before you still their motion, remembering you’re trying to be good. “I…you.”
“Me?” His mouth quirks. “I hope you’re not about to argue, darling. I’d hate to make you wait any longer. And just when you were reaching the end, too.”
“No! No, I just…” you look up at him pleadingly, begging for him to just go into your mind and read what you’re thinking from there, so you can be spared the humiliation of voicing your desires.
Rhys merely raises a brow, amusement clear in his handsome features as he watches you struggle and fumble.
“Can you…I want you to finish.” The words push from your tongue, Rhys swallowing down a groan as you tighten around him. “Or at least, get close to…climax,” you hasten to add, fingers playing nervously with the hem of his collar, pale linen folding beneath your digits. “Please, I just want to feel you a bit more.” You make the effort to look up at him, thighs faintly squeezing his waist with need. “I’ll feel better…comforted…if I can feel you like that.”
“Want to feel me locking you in place? Would that make you feel more secure?”
You’re unsure if he’s patronising you—he has a mean streak that occasionally surfaces in light-hearted ways—so you choose to take him at his word just in case, flushing as you nod your head. It’s been ages, and maybe it makes you needy but you want that reassurance. Just that little extra piece of intimacy to soothe the irrational mumblings of your mind.
Violet eyes twinkle, holding your gaze for what feels like minutes before his lips soften at their edges, his palm cupping your cheek. “Promise you’re not saying this to get out of your little predicament?”
“I promise.” Then after a moment follows a muffled ‘sorry…’
His smile fades a little, bringing you closer so he can press a kiss to your cheek. “You’ve nothing to apologise for. I’m happy you’re telling me,” he adds on when he sees your lips parting to argue for your imagined short-coming. “Let’s get you moving a bit, hm?” You manage a nod, tiptoes grazing the wooden floor of his office before finding your footing, softly bucking your hips as you mumble a ‘thank you’. It earns you another kiss to your cheek, having warmth sizzle throughout your body as butterflies flutter.
“Is this okay?” You mumble, palms splayed out across his chest, the pads of your fingers lightly digging into the sculpted muscle of his stomach. “Perfect,” Rhys whispers, hands trailing reverently up your arms until they’re cupping your shoulders, rubbing to keep you reassured. “You’re doing so well.”
“You’re just saying that.” You huff, too flustered to accept the praise, instinctively rejecting it. Rough hands grip your hips, pulling you to an abrupt stop, a whimper whining from your throat. Violet eyes pierce into you, “Would I lie to you?”
You fumble, trying to look away so you don’t have to answer. It doesn’t fly. His grip tightens but his tone remains soft; calming, “Darling, answer me. Would I lie to you?”
“…no, Rhys.”
“No, I wouldn’t. If I tell you you’re doing well, it’s because you’re doing well. If I say you’re perfect, it’s because you’re perfect. If I say you’re my good, sweet omega…?” He raises a brow in your direction, encouraging you. A flush creeps up your neck, but you answer. “It’s because I’m your good…sweet, omega.”
“There you go.” The chuckle is both pleased and pleasured, pride twinkling in his features and he once more presses a kiss to your cheek, then drops another to the tip of your nose for good measure.
“Now, I want you to keep moving until you’re happy.” You blink, glancing up at him for more guidance. When he gives none, leaving it up to you, you falter. “But what if I come?” You ask—that was the whole point of the scene, for you to be denied pleasure. You don’t want to disappoint him. But Rhys shrugs his shoulders, squeezing your hips, “if you come, you come. You lasted long enough.”
“But-”
“Don’t stress over it,” he smiles, raising his hand so his thumb can stroke back and forth over the crest of your cheek. “Make yourself feel good,” violet eyes meet your own, “okay?”
You want to kiss him. Want to pull him to your lips and pepper him with tiny kisses for making you feel so comfortable. For being such a safe space and remaining so open, even when you’re like this. He would never encourage the self-deprecating thoughts but it’s hard to come to terms with some of the more needy parts of yourself, the constant seeking of reassurance through touch or time or intimacy.
You manage a nod of your head, beginning to carefully rock your hips back and forth. Slowly getting him riled up until his knot is almost fully formed. You’d probably still be able to slip off if you tried but it would be a stretch. It’s as close as you want him to be, able to feel that swell of his cock lodged a little inside your cunt, pushing outwards to your walls and your squeeze him contentedly.
“This is good,” you murmur, leaning into the heat of his chest, greedily hauling down his warmth and basking in the sturdiness of his chest. “Can we stay like this for a bit?” You request, nosing at the skin the neckline of his shirt exposes, breathing in his scent that has tension seeping from your limbs, melting all over his lap. Powerful arms wrap around your back, tucking you closer as he sits back up in his seat, allowing you to remain there for a little longer while he goes back to his desk.
“Just start moving again whenever you want more.” The instruction is soft beside your ear, but it sends a shiver of need up your spine nonetheless. You want to press kisses all over his skin.
Instead you shimmy closer, laying your cheek to his chest, basking in the rightness of your unity. There’s no place you’d rather be.

masterlist // series masterlist // ko-fi
𝐎𝐍𝐄 - 𝐥𝐨𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠
There used to be a period of your life, when you started working at Kim Publishing, that you loved your job with your entire being. You’ve always been kind of a bookworm, often called a nerd, and as soon as you finished school, you knew you wanted a job that related to your love for them.
Kim Publishing was your home, just like the owner, Kim Hwayoung, who felt like a stepmother to you. The company was known for its insistence on literature as art, just like you’ve always envisioned.
But that was until last year.
Your beloved company Kim Publishing sadly faced bankruptcy and was forced to merge with Bang Editorial, an evil empire with no vision on anything that Kim Publishing represented. Basically known for ghostwritten autobiographies of sports stars with brain damage.
That meant one thing: Bang Editorial workers had to move into the Kim Publishing building. In other words, war.
You’ve had to suffer from having co-workers being fired in front of you because, according to Bang Seojun, the CEO of Bang Editorials, they were a waste of money and space.
And that’s how you’ve met your nemesis: Felix Lee.
The bane of your existence.
Your reasons for hating him were various.
Reason One: You’ve seen him smile to everyone around you, showing kindness, except towards you.
Why? You never knew exactly why, to be honest. The minute you met him, knowing you’d be partnered to share the same office, your desks being right in front of each other, you decided to gift him some cupcakes, feeling like making a good impression on your new co-worker. You knew you’d be spending an awful lot of time around him, the least you could do was make him feel at home.
But Felix Lee just glanced at your face, grabbed the cupcake box and, wordlessly, walked towards the elevator, without sparing another glance at you.
You stood there that day in your place, feeling so dumb and asking yourself what the hell had you done wrong.
You’d ask your co-workers about him and they all said the same thing: he was lovely. He seemed to be so nice and kind and yet, he didn’t show not an ounce of niceness or kindness towards you. He was the exact opposite.
Reason Two: He’s a control freak.
His desk, unlike yours, was incredibly tidied. Every little thing had its place. You hated it, cause if somebody were to look at your desk, they would grimace and compare it to his. It wasn’t that yours was a mess, it’s just that his was likely comparable to American Psycho.
You always had fun walking towards his desk when he wasn’t around and messing around with his stuff, misplacing the stapler, moving the sticky notes or turning the pens on their other side. He’d turn around and absolutely know that everything was out of its place. Borderline psychopathic conduct.
The guy even wore the same shirts in the same order every fucking week. Who does that?
You had even memorized the pattern.
Monday: light grey.
Tuesday: white.
Wednesday: baby blue.
Thursday: sky blue.
Friday: royal blue.
So predictable, you always thought every time he arrived at the office with the same shirts on the same day.
Reason Three: He always corrects any tiny mistake you make.
You’d give him reports and he’d hand them back to you all scribbled over with a sharp red marker, to give you some sort of consciousness of your mistakes (his words, not yours).
Reason Four: Probably the most important one. After the merger, he came up with a list of people to fire, making Bang Seojun almost come in his pants from the excitement it gave him saving money, and it included all of your co-workers and friends.
Who were kind of all of the friends you had, if you were being honest.
It made your skin crawl just how unaffected by the whole thing he was, just flawlessly walking around with his stupid freckles and stupid black hair, always so perfectly combed.
Felix Lee seemed like the perfect guy with his charms and freckles from the outside, but don’t let him fool you.
You were convinced he was the actual devil in disguise.
⠈⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
It was a bright day and you only hoped it would mean no actual death threats thrown around between you and Felix. It would happen eventually, you just always hoped it would be the exception.
When you stepped out of the elevator, you saw Kim Hwayoung, your boss (or well, one of your bosses as Bang Seojun was unfortunately one of them too) walking towards her office.
“Good morning, Hwayoung” you bowed handing her a report.
“Good morning, dear Y/N” she smiled at you, grabbing the papers you handed to her. “Has Bang seen this?” she asked, her eyes curiously roaming all over the papers.
“Well, I’ve emailed it to Felix so, I assume, yes” you nodded, following her.
“Hmm, and what about that book from the actress. Did Bang turn it down like we assumed he would?” Hwayoung asked, opening the door of her office and walking inside.
You stepped inside and shut the door behind you. “Suspiciously, no. He didn’t. I’m kind of assuming he didn’t really pay attention to the long ass email you sent to him” you shrugged.
“Sounds like Bang Seojun” Hwayoung sighed, wiping a hand over her face in exhaustion. “We need to step up and make sure that girl gets a spot in our editorial. We can’t lose her to the testosterone that seems to run in this place”
“Yeah, I’m on it” you nodded immediately, completely agreeing with her.
“That’s why you’re my favourite” she winked at you. “Would you be a darling and tell Lia to bring me a coffee on your way out? I’m not stressed today yet but I feel like it’s gonna be one hell of a day already, and please tell her to leave it by the meeting room”
You chuckled and nodded. “Of course, Hwayoung” you smiled at the elderly woman. “See you in a few”
She blew you a kiss and opened her computer to start working. You stepped out of the office and went to the coffee area, where you knew you’d find Lia, Hwayoung’s assistant.
“Hey, Lia! Hwayoung just asked me if you could bring her coffee and leave it in the meeting room?”
“Hi, Y/N. Sure!” she kindly smiled and immediately went to make some coffee.
“Y/N! Y/N!” a familiar voice came from behind you and you refrained yourself from rolling your eyes.
You turned around and plastered on a fake smile on your face. “Hey Soyeon. How are you?” you said, grabbing a cookie from the tray that was on the counter.
She bit her lip and sighed. “I just wanted to ask you for a small favor” she started with a pout.
Oh my God, here we go.
“I need more time for the monthly report, you know?” Soyeon said as she followed your walk towards the meeting room. “My nephew ate peanut butter yesterday, and he’s kind of allergic to it. I have to go take care of him at the hospital and- it’s just been so stressful” Soyeon faked being fed up with her supposed life story. “Could you please be a sweetheart and just give me a little bit more time?”
You knew she was faking. But you didn’t have it in yourself to say no to her, or anyone for that matter. Quote Taylor Swift, you were a pathological people pleaser.
“Sure” you smiled, wanting to grab your hair and just rip it off. “Of course”
Soyeon sighed and smiled at you. “You’re the best, It will be ready on Monday… or Wednesday at the latest” she said and walked away before you could even utter a word. With a sigh, you bit at your cookie and rolled your eyes at your incapability of saying no to Soyeon.
You were about to step inside the meeting room when you caught Felix, staring at you with that characteristic smile on his face.
“That… was pathetic” he said.
“Don’t project yourself on me, alright?” you grumbled, crossing your arms over your chest.
“You know, Y/N. You could have her do her job” Felix said, stepping closer towards you. “But no… you always have to be the good guy”
“Well-” you shrugged. “It’s so much better than being the asshole, isn’t it?”
Felix snorted and rolled his eyes with a smirk.
“Oh, and by the way” you said before stepping inside the meeting room. “Your tie is crooked”
Felix’s eyes widened and looked down at his tie. His tie, that was sitting perfectly on his chest.
You gave him a smirk and walked into the meeting room.
He just pressed his tongue on his inner cheek and followed suit.
“Oh, Y/N, Felix. So glad you guys are here” Kim Hwayoung greeted you as you sat next to her and Felix right next to his CEO, Bang Seojun. “Mr. Bang and I have an announcement we want to make. We’re adding a new position to the team!” she said happily.
“Yeah” Bang Seojun nodded. “We’re adding a managing director, that will oversee each department, and he will pass that report to me”
Hwayoung rolled her eyes. “He or she will pass the report to both of us” she stated, still wearing her kind smile and Bang Seojun just nodded along.
“The job is open to external applicants, of course, but… I would very much like to hire from within” Bang Seojun smirked at Felix.
“Yeah, and we’re putting up an independent panel since we don’t always agree” Hwayoung eyed Seojun from across the table. “They will be the judge of it”
“You have… about a month and a half” Seojun said, eyeing his papers lying on the desk. “May the best man win!”
“Or woman” Hwayoung pointed out, raising her manicured finger up.
“Or woman, yeah” Bang Seojun nodded and Hwayoung rolled her eyes again.
You looked at Felix who was already staring at you wearing his infamous smirk.
You’re on, Felix Lee. You are so on.

“The job is mine, cupcake” he scolded you, as you made yourself tea.
“Oh, your confidence is compelling but you forgot one tiny little detail” you said, feigning innocence.
Felix just arched his eyebrows. “And what’s that?” he asked with a smile, amused.
“Everyone hates you” You simply stated and turned around, walking towards the elevator with the cup of tea in hand.
“Oh, they don’t hate me. They fear me, which makes me very effective for my job” he said, following you.
You chuckled. “You know, the day that I’ll be your boss. I will require you to smile at me at least every once in two minutes” you grumbled at him.
He walked next to you as he laughed. “When I’m your boss, I’m going to give you so much work, you’ll start using the office as your home address” he stated, firing back at you.
“When I’m your boss, I’m going to impose casual Fridays” you said and pressed the elevator button. “Hawaiian shirts mandatory”
“When I’m your boss, I’m going to implement a new dress code. No more looking like an elementary school librarian” he said, walking inside the elevator right behind you.
You scoffed and looked at him. “If you get the job, I’ll resign”
Felix pulled a shocked face on him. “Really?” he asked, surprised.
“Just like you will if I do” you said to him and narrowed your eyes.
“I don’t quit” Felix said to you with a chuckle.
“All right. Then, I’ll fire you” you fired back at him.
“Ah… but I’m incapable of giving you that pleasure” Felix smirked.
“Aww, it’s not the first time you’ve said that to a woman, isn’t it?” you asked him, with a grimace.
Felix snorted and looked away, shaking his head.
“So we agree, then” you said with a smug smirk and he looks back at you, his eyes full of a certain emotion you couldn’t quite pinpoint. “If one of us gets the job, the other one has to quit”
“Fine. Agreed” he said, sure of himself that he was going to be the one getting that job.
The doors of the elevator opened and you stepped inside your office. You saw that Wooyoung, your co-worker, one of the few people that weren’t fired from the merger, was waiting by your desk with an excited smile.
“Oh, hey Wooyoung!” you smiled at him with a wave, your eyebrows raising up at his presence.
“Hi, Y/N. I’m bringing some delivery for you” he smiled at you, handing you a book.
You gasped, immediately recognising it. “Oh! The new book” you smiled widely at him. “That’s so nice of you, thank you”
Wooyoung worked in editing and even though he wasn’t technically your friend, you two had a very good relationship. Ever since all of your friends were fired, Wooyoung was kind of like the only person you found you could trust, besides Hwayoung. You tried to keep him close to you ever since the merger.
“The designers made copies in advance, it’s not that big of a deal, so…” he shrugged, walking closer to you, trying to contain the smile that was trying to creep into his face from your words.
Felix sat by his desk and narrowed his eyes at the scene unfolding in front of him.
You looked at the cover and frowned immediately. “Oh shit. Is this the cover?” you grimaced, showing the book to Wooyoung.
Wooyoung let out a frustrated sigh and nodded. “Yeah, I’m sorry. Bang Seojun made us do it” he shrugged, clearly annoyed as well.
“The book is about archeology, what the hell is this?” you stared at the book with a cover with a girl in it. “Did he even read the back cover?”
“I seriously doubt it” Wooyoung replied slowly. “I wouldn’t be surprised if he didn’t”
“Do you, Y/N?” Felix asked and you found his gaze. “I mean, I was sure you didn’t even know how to read so…”
“First grader insults, great job, Felix” You said with sarcasm, give him a thumbs up.
“Okay… I’m out of here” Wooyoung said, noticing that you were about to get each other's throats. Again.
“Bye, Woo” you smiled.
“Bye, Y/N. Bye, Felix”
Felix didn’t reply and just grabbed some papers from his desk before sitting on his chair and looking at the now empty corridor.
“That poor sap thinks you’re flirting with him” Felix bit his lip, shaking his head. “How sad”
“The same way people think you’re flirting with me?” You asked him, raising an eyebrow.
“Cupcake, if I was flirting with you, you’d know” he smirked, confidently.
“I didn’t know losers knew how to flirt, but here we are” You said, typing away on your computer.
You saw him sigh and grab a journal from a drawer, and with a red marker, scribble something inside it and close it. He left it there and opened his computer.
Your eyes shifted down to your hands and gnawed at your lip. You were now curious at what the hell was that thing where he just scribbled something random with a red marker on a journal.
Before you could think it through, Bang Seojun came into your office with a smug smile. “Hello, my hardworking people” he said, and you knew he had to refrain from calling you slaves.
“Hi, Mr. Bang. I have a copy of the new book for you” you said, grabbing the book that Wooyoung had handed you.
“Ah!” Seojun yelped and walked towards you, grabbing the book. “Dr. Lee, you didn’t tell me it was ready” Seojun said, eyeing the book proudly. “The cover was all me, you know?” Bang Seojun looked way too proud of the god-awful cover.
“Y-yeah” you nodded, scratching your head in an awkward manner. “It’s um… it’s definitely eye-catching” you stammered, obviously finding it very hard to lie.
“Yeah” Seojun chuckled. “Did you send the emails I told you to send, Dr. Lee?”
“Yep. Already did” Felix nodded, without sparing him a glance.
Bang Seojun smiled contently and patted the book with his palm, before leaving it on your desk. “Great. See you kids later” Seojun said and left the office.
“Bye… dick” you whispered that last part under your breath.
“Did you just refer to the cover as eye-catching?” Felix said, with laughter hiding in his voice. “It looks like it was designed by a horny fifth-grader. Not exactly delivering knowing it’s a book about the diary of an archeologist, but whatever”
You pulled your face back, taken aback by the information he had just provided. “Since when do you read the books we publish?” you asked him, narrowing your eyes.
Felix shrugged. “I always do it. Plus, I felt the book was so boring, I fell asleep three times reading the first page” he said, placing his macbook inside his bag.
You snorted and stood up from your chair, grabbing your purse. “Well, it’s tiring to read above your level of education” you fired back. “Maybe you aren’t ready for chapter books just yet”
“It was boring, Y/N!” Felix defended himself, standing up to grab his coat from the hanger.
“It was a masterpiece, and then Bang Seojun had to go and cut like 200 pages from it, with the sole excuse that he wanted it to be more of an ‘airport read’” you scoffed, putting on your coat and placing your purse on your desk. “Which is totally ridiculous. He’s just trying to mask that he doesn’t have enough IQ to actually interpret what the author is saying”
“Just admit it, cupcake. It was boring” Felix said, giving you a look.
“Whatever” you rolled your eyes and walked towards the elevator with your stuff, Felix following you behind.
“So… any plans for the weekend?” He asked with a long breath. “Probably your usual right? Watching a cringey romantic comedy while eating something greasy out of a can?”
You scoffed and let out a little laugh. “And what about the Lee’s? Drinking the blood of a virgin and then staring at each other in silence?” you arched an eyebrow at him.
“Ugh, how did you know? We’re looking for donations” Felix said and you were both startled when Ms. Choi came into the elevator.
Ms. Choi as soon as she saw them, let out a huff.
“Oh, hi, Ms. Choi! You look spectacular today” you smiled at her. “Love those earrings”
“Don’t even try” Ms. Choi cut you off. “I’ve got four complaints this week. FOUR. Three alone about the break room incident on Monday” she fumed.
Oh. Yeah.
That… was…
MONDAY:
It was supposed to be a tranquil day that Monday, until Felix Lee had decided to give you shit for some mistakes you had made while typing the report you were supposed to send to him. He had managed to find you coincidentally in the break room… where everyone was supposed to be enjoying just that, their break.
“Ready for our lesson?” Felix said loudly, grabbing a donut from a box, cutting it in half and showing it to you, making you gasp. “This is a coma-“ he said and then grabbed a munchkin. “And this is a period, which is a point” he mansplained to you. “Do you know how to use it? Do you?-“
“Put that donut away or I’m gonna shove it up so far up your ass, the damn surgeons are gonna have to cut you in half to take it off!” You yelled at him, banging your hand against the table of the break room, making every single person there turn their heads to look at you.
“Aww, wouldn’t you like that, cupcake?” he teased you, pouting out his lip.
PRESENT DAY:
Yeah. So…
“Mommy and daddy fight sometimes” Felix explained to Ms. Choi.
“Yeah, we have discussions” you smiled with sarcasm.
“Like when Mommy has typos similar to a fourth grader and Daddy has to step up and correct her like a goddamned teacher” Felix said with a fake neutral voice.
“Or how Daddy has a cork up his ass and sometimes needs to yell at Mommy to decompress” you said between your teeth.
Ms. Choi looked at you with a disgusted face. “Mommy and daddy? Are you two for real?” she scoffed. “You two are the worst part of my job…”
You felt like hugging Mr. Choi and apologising.
It wasn’t her fault that Felix Lee had to be the bane of your existence.
⠈⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
You got home at around 7 pm and about an hour later, when you were already showered and ready to make some dinner, your mother called you.
“Hey momma. How’s London going?” You asked her, sitting on the couch and crossing your legs.
“Oh, you know… same old usual” she tried to make you feel better.
You scoffed at her. “Mom. I’m sure London’s a thousand times better than Seoul. Less people, less flashy lights, and on top of all that, you’re there on a long ass vacation”
“Fine, fine. London’s amazing” she giggled. “I didn’t realise just how much I missed this place”
“Well, I’m glad to hear it” you smiled. “Did you, at least, buy me something nice?”
Your mother gasped. “Y/N! Of course I did. What kind of mom would I be if I didn’t?” she answered like she was offended. “I bought you a snow globe, the one you told me you wanted, and a few baby tees that you girls use nowadays with an I Love London on it”
“Great” you chuckled.
“What about you?”
“Huh?” you blinked a couple of times.
“How are you doing? Are you doing something today? You know, Friday night and all?” she asked you.
How do you tell your mom that your life is incredibly bland and dull without sounding like a pathetic loser?
“Um, yeah. It’s- I’m taking this Friday out so I can go on a full party mode for tomorrow” you lied easily. “Me and the girls are going out for drinks and then- then we’re going to a party”
“Oh, whose party?” she asked excitedly, sounding like a teenager.
Shit. “Wooyoung’s” you shrugged, thinking of the first name that came to your mind.
“I see… Any lucky guy we should worry about?” Your mother asked, knowing she was smirking on the other side of the line.
You scoffed. “Wow, you’re getting ahead of yourself!”
“Come on, tell me! You never tell me anything!”
“No… I was seeing this guy but… we broke up like four months ago. And that’s it” You told her with a sad smile.
“Aw, my baby. I’m sure there are plenty of fish in the ocean” she told you.
“Yeah, well… it’s not that easy to find a good one”
“What about that guy from work?” Your mom asked.
You raised an eyebrow. “Who? Felix?” you asked with a grimace, though she couldn’t see it.
“Honey, you talk about him all the time” your mom chuckled.
“I do not! I literally despise the guy with all my being” you said in a whiny pitched voice. “We’ve had endless conversations about how much I hate him”
“Yeah, sure, sweetheart”
“You don’t believe me” you stated, it wasn’t a question.
“Oh, no. It’s not that I don’t believe you. I don’t think you don’t believe yourself when you say those things about Felix” she explained.
“Alright, um… I’m gonna- I’m gonna go watch a movie or something. I think this conversation is done”
Your mom let out a cackle. “Okay, honey. Make sure to call me at least once this weekend” she said.
“Yes, Mom. I will”
“Bye, I love you!” your mom called out.
“Bye, love you lots” you said and hung up the phone.
With a sigh, you rolled your shoulders back, letting your bones crack and started preparing dinner for yourself.
Once you sat down on the couch with a bowl of pasta and put on some crappy reality show to watch on TV, your mind couldn’t help but drift over to Felix and the whole deal you had made.
You just hoped to God your strategy would work, otherwise, the thought of leaving Hwayoung alone with Bang Seojun would eat you alive for life. You wouldn’t forgive yourself.
But on top of all, you wouldn’t let Felix win. You couldn’t. Over your dead body.
⠈⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄⠄⠂⠁⠁⠂⠄
You pressed your head on the pillow with a tired sigh.
After a couple of minutes of trying to find a comfortable position, you kicked the covers off of you, seeking some air and comfort over your legs.
All of a sudden, you felt a pair of hands placing themselves on the sides of your head and a body pressing itself against your back.
You gasped and pushed back against the hard and warm body. You felt your breath picking up its rhythm as you felt a hand running over your leg. The presence felt awfully familiar.
“You make me so fucking hard” the man said, and it made you moan lowly, recognising his voice. “You know that?”
Felix’s hand drifted over to the front of your shorts and pressed his fingers over your clit. You squeezed your legs around his hand and moaned brokenly, your feet kicking the mattress.
Your breath became more ragged as his fingers started drawing tight circles over your clothed core.
“Felix…” you moaned, kicking your head back in pleasure. “Please…”
“Please what?” his deep and sexy voice boomed in your ears, making you clench around nothing. It sounded like a tease, like he always did.
“Touch me…”
He chuckled and the sound vibrated all over your body.
“Wake up, baby”
With a gasp, you sat up and looked around, feeling your heart beating out of your chest. With a few blinks, you realised that you were indeed alone in your room and one of your hands was neatly placed in between your legs, pressing against your bundle of nerves.
Your hand flew away from there and you frowned, your knees flexing so you could press your forehead on them.
Felix would not leave you alone, even in your dreams.
You slumped back on the bed, your head hitting the pillow furiously.
“Motherfucker…”

Asymetrical Symphony - Part 15
Universe: Arcane (LOL)
Pairing: Viktor x reader
Summary: You had been on the rooftop with Jayce and the Herald and somehow you were sent to a place where things can be different with your help
Disclaimers and Warnings: If you want me to tag you on the chapters let me know! Also leave a comment with your thoughts :D Not finished, not proofread. English isn't my 1st language. All I know about LOL is from google and all I know about Arcane is taken from the show, so inacuracies will be plenty. I have a sort of idea on how to I'm gonna go with magic and runes, so bear with me. The reader will be written as GN (going by they/them) to get everyone involved, but if you see any discrepancies let me know.
A.N: I've made some cute headers for the thing!!! What do you guys think??

• ··········· • ············ •
It was fascinating how quickly he realized that, for hextech to go astray, one of them had to die. There was no doubt in his mind that if his tech had been deviated to another path, one of its creators had to disappear.
“That’s a complicated question to answer.” looked back at him, smiling sadly. “If it helps us keep the tech away from her, I need to know.” “It’s not that I don’t want to tell you…It’s just that complicated… The answer is both, neither, and I don’t know.”
He leaned back in his chair and ran a hand over his hair, frustration written on his handsome features.
“Maybe… if we could try the rune in a safe environment…” Viktor made his way back towards you, placing his tray on the table you had placed yours on, and sat down. “...we can figure out what it is.”
The taller man gently placed a plate on the piano bench next to your thigh. It contained two of the same creamy strawberry pastries he had given you before. You looked at him and smiled as he mentioned them to you with a tilt of his head.
Jayce immediately grabbed the mug with coffee and took a swig. Viktor, however, had a mug filled with something that was topped with heavy cream and what looked like chocolate powder. If it tasted like it looked, it must just be a sugary bomb to his palate. He grabbed a spoon and took a small piece of cream, bringing it to his mouth, closing his eyes as the sweetness hit his tongue.
It was strange watching him bring any food to his lips since his counterpart almost had to be force-fed. It was even stranger when he actually made a little approval sound of whatever he was eating.
“Councilor Tallis.” A familiar voice came from the entrance, and the clicking of heels followed it.
Jayce immediately looked back at Mel’s approach, straightening up and pushing a hand through his hair, trying to comb it back in place.
The beautiful woman walked towards the piano, the golden lines on her skin shimmering and reflecting light. You had to admit, Mel Medarda was perfection. Add that to her cunning and her smarts, and it shouldn't surprise anyone that she became a sorceress herself.
“Ah, the troupe is all here.” She said, jokingly, her smile not reaching her eyes but seemingly honest nonetheless. She looked at you and extended a hand. “I don’t believe we have been formally introduced. Mel Medarda, Head Councilor.”
You got up from your seat at the piano and shook her hand, wanting to add “universe hopper” at the end but deciding not to.
“That was quite the first impression.” She kept smiling at you, placing a hand on Jayce’s shoulder, and the inventor smiled up at her. “Not my usual MO, but unfortunately it couldn't be helped.” You answered, smiling back at her, sitting back down. “I look forward to speaking with you in the future. I do need to steal Councilor Tallis away for a moment. Governing body business and all that.” She rolled her eyes as she squeezed Jayce’s shoulders, and the man stood up.
If you had to hazard a guess, the 'governing body business' involved Jayce recounting what had happened in the lab with her mother and Salo on their little impromptu inspection.
“No need for stealing council Medarda,” Viktor said, not looking up at her from his sugary delight. “We gladly offer him over…”
Jayce looked back at his partner with an unamused expression.
“We’ll finish this later.” He looked at Viktor and then back at you.
As they both walked away, you resumed your playing, your fingers drifting over the keys spontaneously. You saw Viktor’s head snap up as he scooped the last drop of cream into his mug, leaving only a beige-looking liquid in it.
“I take it you don’t know how to play.” You looked back at the keys, gently swaying with the melody. “I write numbers on a blackboard, and I tinker with things that more often than not explode in my face. Much like writing music, playing music escapes me.” He pointed the spoon to the keys. “Wanna try?”
You suggestively raised your eyebrows and tilted your head to the keys, enticing the poor scientist. Sliding over to one side of the bench, you patted the space, taking the small pink pastry and eating it in one bite. He looked confused at first, but his curiosity got the better of him. The need to know things and try things were always qualities that didn't seem to waver in any iteration of Viktor—the passion for learning never ceasing or decreasing.
He sat next to you, adjusting his leg and leaning his cane on the side of the piano. Viktor cleaned his palms on his pant legs and cleared his throat. You heard the barista groan.
“Oh Gods. Not the scientist at the piano...” he mumbled loud enough for both of you to hear. “I do believe our friend Loriel is not happy about this turn of events…” Viktor announced just as loudly as the bartender, and Loriel took a very deep breath. “He is going to love what comes next then.” You added turning back to the ivories. “Maybe the Academy's cafe isn’t exactly the best place for piano lessons.” Viktor whispered, turning his back to the bar, some doubts in his voice. “Then they shouldn’t have placed the piano in the cafe.” “Why is the piano in here anyway?”
Viktor looked back at Loriel, who shrugged and mouthed something to the tune of 'to torment me.' You laughed, and Viktor followed with a snicker. He straightened up, as best as he could, squared his shoulders, and placed his hands on the keys. You mimicked his stance and realized that all of your right side was touching all of his left. From shoulder to knee, and yet there were no feelings of panic bubbling in your stomach.
“Why are we so stiff?” You whispered to him, moving your head slightly to look at him. “Is this not how professional piano players play?” “Not unless they want to look like a douchebag.” You shook your shoulders a bit and relaxed; he did the same. “May I?” You pointed to his hand, asking permission to touch and move them. He nodded, and you placed his two index fingers on two specific keys. “Now you do this.”
(Chopstick piano)
You placed your own index fingers on the ivories, slightly away from his, and moved them in sync, both fingers reflecting what the other was doing. The melody was simple and repetitive, and the movements were pretty mechanical. Easy to learn.
Viktor caught on quickly, the movements coming out slowly and clumsily at first but becoming familiar with every try.
“Please play something else!” Loriel half shouted exasperatedly, and you looked back at him, about to give him an angry look but noticing he was half joking.
“Remember when I told you magic is just like music?” You whispered to him, and he nodded, excitedly looking at you. His golden eyes were bright and joyful. “Yes, once you’ve played a note the first time, the next time it becomes easier.” “And what we did in the closet.” You looked down onto your side of the keys, missing the red tint that appeared on his cheeks.
Nudging his knee gently, you made a gesture for him to start playing his little tune. At some point, you started to add another melody, a rhythmic thumping that intertwined with the simple notes he was playing. You heard rather than saw Viktor's little gasp of excitement.
“Thank goodness.” You heard Loriel say. “Now keep moving along the playlist.”
When you ended the music, he followed your lead and stopped his actions but did not take his fingers from the keys.
“You know what? Let’s switch it up.” You slid from your side of the bench and nudged his shoulders to the side where you sat, him clumsily going and readjusting his leg.
You sat where he had been before and showed him the repetitious keystrokes you had added previously to his beginner lesson. His long fingers easily managed to touch the keys as you started to tap your foot on a steady tempo. Slowly but surely, the scientist managed to accompany your foot-tapping with his playing.
Letting him go over the chords a couple of times, you jumped in. First doing the same simple two-finger melody and then jumping to a more complicated part, completely changing the melody.
You felt Viktor slowly swinging to the melody, his shoulder bumping into yours as he enjoyed the music. You followed his movements, and the two of you went on playing. He would stop whenever you played a more complicated part, a little laugh coming out of him,
With a final pressing of the keys, the song ended, and you smiled triumphantly at the scientist beside you. He looked down at you; it was noticeable that his cheeks were becoming a pretty shade of red, while his eyes looked at his fingers and then shifted back to you.
Even though you had noticed how you had been closed before, now it dawned on you just how close you two were. You could see the brown flecks in his eyes, the small scar he had on his forehead from the goggles digging into his skin, and his pulse quickly beating on his neck.
You felt a small touch on your little finger and glanced at it, surprised at the sudden contact. His hands had moved, and he was brushing your pinky with his, slowly as if not to scare you. You felt your heart quicken and turned back to face him, eyes wide.
“Should I have asked?” He mumbled slowly, tilting his head down, his brown hair falling from behind his ear. “About?” you let out in a breathy whisper, doing the best you could to keep your eyes from wandering around his face.
He moved his finger to interlock with yours, the corners of his lips tilting up.
“It’s fine…” And it was. There was no panic or anxiety. There were no urgent or nightmarish visions of hexangels.
Gently he pulled your little fingers towards his hand, adding your ring finger to the weave of hands. You managed to breathe and blink, your eyes unfocusing on his face, waiting for anything to happen. When it didn't, you went back to those golden pools of his.
Viktor looked at you waiting for a protest, but you said nothing. No constructs, no golden enemies. In a moment of boldness, you moved your hand under his and turned your palm up, him giving you the space you needed to do it. When you were comfortable, you slotted your fingers in his. You didn’t squeeze or grab his hand, just letting the weight of him become familiar.
Much like in your universe, his hands were long and bony, with callouses from using every tool at his disposal. They had a tepid warmth to it, the playing of the piano letting the blood flow to his extremities.
“My hands are always cold.” He noted, scratching the back of his neck, and you looked at his long fingers on yours. “Should wear some gloves.” You joked, nudging him and squeezing his hand tentatively. “I like this better.” He raised an eyebrow smugly, and you snorted, looking away in fake annoyance. You felt his hand squeeze back and looked back at him. The expression on his face was far from embarrassed; if anything, he knew exactly what he was doing, a loopy side smile plastered on his face. You shook your head, a smile on your own face. “You’re a sneaky one…” “Heh…I do hail from the Undercity." He joked, and you laughed out loud, placing your forehead on his shoulder, feeling him laugh too.
“Viktor!!!” A smooth, hurried voice came from the corridor, and a bouncy Sky Young walked into the cafeteria. “Miss Young!” He half-shouted back, making his assistant's head snap to him.
He moved your still intertwined hands away from the keys and in between both your bodies. He gave you one last squeeze before letting go.
“Oh…I have been looking for you.” “I have been here for the last two hours,” he said, stretching in front of you, reaching for his cane. “Sorry. Jayce is with Councillor Medarda, and the door is locked, and Councillor Salo took my key from me and…” She looked at you, her exasperated ramble coming to a halt. “Oh. Hello. Sky Young, a pleasure to meet you!” “Hello.” You told the younger woman, smiling, and answered with your name. “I thought you two knew each other…” Viktor said, getting up carefully and moving to stand next to his assistant. “I said I’ve seen her around…I never said we had been introduced.” You quickly retorted. “Also, do I need to reschedule the appointment for this morning?” “Ye—” she started, but Viktor interrupted. “No need; we can do it now.” “But their name is on the morning slot.” Young noted, grabbing a small planner. “It’s not their fault we had an inspection on their fault. If anything, the council should be the one to schedule their appointments.” He said with finality and turned around. “Come now, you two. Time to get to work.”
You and Young stared at each other and both shrugged, smiling at each other.
“Thank you, Loriel.” You shouted and waved back at the barista as you walked away from the cafe. “You’re welcome! Come back any time... Seriously!”
• ············ •
“So, you can now combine runes?” Viktor asked, sitting at his table at the lab, writing furiously in his little notebook. “And I’m also starting to…not need to push them out…like…physically.”
The scientist looked at you. You've been sitting here for 40 minutes; 20 of those had been Viktor trying to shoo Sky out of the room.
“Example,” he prompted, and you nodded.
You faced him, the big front doors behind you. You cleared your throat and drew the known string of runes in front of you. Waiting for a second, with your hands by your side, you blinked, and the runes disappeared. The door behind you whooshed open.
“That’s new.” Viktor’s eyebrows shot up. “Can you reverse it?” “I can close the door, but not lock it.”
His eyebrows furrowed and his jaw clenched. He started to go back through the notebook, getting to the pages where you were both annotating the runes and suffixes.
You walked towards him and leaned into his table, looking at the notebook. You had feared that after the little moment at the piano, the rest of the evening would be awkward, but no. He hadn’t mentioned it, but he wasn’t tiptoeing around you. It was just good old Viktor.
“You’ve never shown me this rune.” He pointed to the mend rune with his pencil and looked up at you. “Technically, you've seen it. But I can show you again. May I?”
You pointed to his purple-colored pencil, and he gave it to you with a doubtful expression. With a bit of force, you snapped the pencil in two, and he groaned.
“Please do not break my writing utensils. I really don’t want to explain to the council why I need to buy more colored pencils…It’s already a hassle as it is.” He swiveled the stool to turn to the table where you placed the pencil. “They apparently don’t understand the concept of color coding.”
You snorted while drawing the rune. The small tendrils that came out of it searched the pencil for where it was broken and joined it, making it whole again. The only trace of something happening was the shimmering blue vein where it was snapped.
“Fascinating…” He grabbed the pencil and inspected it from every angle. “Have you tried this with a bone?”
Blinking slowly at him, you squinted your eyes and furrowed your eyebrows, the doubt he had previously now written on your face.
“What?” “A bone.” He shook his arm to demonstrate. “You want to break some for me to try?” You retorted sarcastically, but the thoughtful look on his face made you shake your head. “No…I have not tried it in a bone. I haven't encountered a broken bone to try it on, and you will not provide me with some.” “Oh no…not mine.” He made a few swirls with the pencil on the notebook, finding out it worked just like before. “Whose bones are you gonna break, stick bug? You’re all length and sharp corners…”
You crossed your arms, raised one eyebrow, and leaned into the table with your hip, your face bearing a mask of doubt. His expression shifted to unamused, his lip pinched and his eyebrows knotted.
“First of all…stick bug?” He spat the word out comically, and you laughed, nodding. “Second of all, some bones can be easily broken by applying pressure in certain key points. No need for brute strength.”
“Yeah? And how many bones have you broken, Mr. Applied Pressure… you joked, shifting to sit on the table. “Several, actually…” “Yours don’t count…”
Viktor opened his mouth to argue but closed it with a humph, turning away from you. You snorted at his spoiled expression.
“How many have you broken? all talk, I bet..." He mumbled, turning the stool fully towards the table. “Several, actually... and not mine either.”
You thought of those last few hours on your timeline, grunting and fighting. Violet had given you some sort of lesson on what she called ‘blocking with your face’ that somehow involved not just that but also punching, kicking, and general shit talk.
You missed Vi. The one that chuckled when you talked back to her. The Vi that had looked at you weirdly when you asked her to punch you because you needed to know how it felt and not be scared of it. The undercity fighter, who looked impressed when you managed to punch her after dodging a blow.
“The music schools where you come from are very competitive…” Viktor’s voice snapped you back to the lab. He frowned when he looked at you, his expression shifting from annoyance to concern. “Are you alright?” “Yes… Sorry…” You cleared your throat. “If we find someone with a broken bone and willing, we’ll try it on them.” “I guess we can do that…” He flipped the book back to the page where he had taken notes. “You should use that rune to lock the door.” “The lock is not broken, though.” “True…but I think we may need to go in a more…symbolic route. The pencil, after you mended it, reverted to its original form. In if core, that’s what the mend rune does when spoken.” “So I'd be reverting the unlocked door back to its original state." You mused, and he nodded. He patted your knee and pointed to the door, encouraging you to try it.
Still sitting on the desk, you spoke the runes: wind, coda, mend, unlock. In a second the door drifted closed, the door locking with a click.
You looked at Viktor, who had a winning smile on his face.
“This stick bug seems to be pretty good at this magic thing.” He swiveled his stool back around to turn to write his findings.
With a swish of your finger, his little wheeled bench rolled back away from its original location, while he made a squeaky surprised sound with his throat.
“That is not fair.” He said, pushing the stool back with his feet. "I thought you hailed from the Undercity." You joked, getting up from your sitting place and going behind him to gently push back to the table. "Yes, I do." He said proudly.
You squeezed his shoulders and turned to walk away, unlocking the door with a flick of your finger.
“Where are you going?” He inquired, turning to watch you walk away. “Mother is expecting me.” You walked backward, looking at him and smiling. “Some sort of dinner celebration, event…I don’t know…I just know that I am now obliged to be there, but here…”
With another flick of the wrist, the ceiling above his head became filled with little shimmering stars.
“To keep you company…” You finished with a wink and walked out the door.
You didn’t hear the happy sigh Viktor gave as he looked up at the soft, shimmering lights. And you didn’t see him placing his notebook on the table, walking to the couch, and just staring contently at the little starlight you manifested in the ceiling while gently stroking his palm, remembering how it felt against yours.

The smile on your face as you made your way to the elevator was cut short when the thing pinged open.
Rictus stood, eyebrow raised, staring at you from inside the empty elevator.

[ BACK TO MASTERLIST ]
Ever since you and Marcus broke up, your only mechanism was singing. To say the least, you were actually good at it. That's when you found yourself with your schools band practicing a cover. Unfortunately for you, the rain started pouring soon after you finished, which forced you to stay under a bus stop.
Sadly, as you did not own a car, you had to call your brother, Billy. He said he'd pick you up, but that's when you saw Marcus car, probably a stolen one, pull up in front of the school.
The two of you dated for 3 years, until you decided to end it, without giving him any reason why. That was 5 months ago, until now, you haven't talked since. The only person that you didn't want to see right now, surely, the break up was a complicated one to say the least.
"Get in." He says. From the tone of his voice, you knew one thing, he was pissed.
"No fucking way!" You say in an annoyed voice, crossing your arms. You two are like magnets and you didn't want to be stuck in a small place with him. He was bad for you. He brings out the worst in you.
"Are you seriously going to stand out here?" He says with the same tone. Marcus knows that he is being irrational, but he can't help it. He's just mad and heartbroken right now, seeing you just makes it even worse. He hates you for breaking his heart, but he's not going to let you know that.
You roll your eyes, knowing that he has a point never the less. And you wanted to be home faster, so having an argument with him, wasn't useful. As you open the passanger door to get into the car, you look at him.
Marcus starts the car and pulls out of the bus stop, onto the road. He doesn't say anything, just drives. The windshield wipers make loud screeches as they fight to get the rain off the windshield. The heater blasts as it tries to warm up the car from the outside cold. The air makes the windshield foggy. Then suddenly, Marcus sights loudly and looks over at you. As you were looking outside the window, gathering your thoughts about what just happened.
Turning around to look at him, you decided to ask him. "What?" Looking at him with confused eyes.
Marcus just stays silent, he just stares at you, trying to gather his thoughts. You can see his anger and frustration written all over his face. He doesn't want to look at you, he doesn't wang to look at anything. He's just so angry. Finally, he breaks the silence with a blunt ask. "Why did you dump me?"
"Marcus..." You look at him and then out the window, sighting, trying to find a good way to answer his question. You hate this situation that you're in. This was not the right time to talk about the break up, not with him.
The classic answer, and the one that he didn't want to hear. He hated when things were "complicated". He hates uncertainty. He wanted an answer and he wanted it now. His grip on the steering wheel tightens as his anger builds up. "Jusf answer me, god fucking damn it!" He snaps a little at you. He doesn't like losing his cool, but he's already too far gone.
"Because i'm leaving for university..." You talk in a low tone, looking outside the window. "I got accepted into Harvard." You explain yourself to him, staring at him, hoping he understands your intentions.
Marcus felt an intense wave of jealousy wash over him as soon as you finish the sentence. He could never get into Harvard. He's not smart enough. He knows you are and that bothers him. He hates that he feels jealousy of you, but he can't help it. "So you dumped me because you got accepted into a stupid school?" He says completely ignoring the fact that you're going to Harvard.
"A stupid school? I got a full scholarship to that stupid school." You say in an annoyed tone whie looking at him, feeling that he doesn't care about your achievement. "You'll only be three hours away.." You say trying to find something positive in your departure.
"Oh three hours away, really?" Marcus says sarcastically trying to ignore the jealousy that's building up inside of him. "And i'm sure that this full scholarship is a huge achievement." He says mockingly. Marcus knows damn well the school isn't stupid and he knows how hard getting a full scholarship there is but it just pisses him off so he can't help but belittle your achievement.
"It is, Marcus! I didn't want to leave you...I didn't want to leave you in the first place. I was scared that this won't work, us, fuck i want this to work out cause i miss you." I explain myself to him on a calm tone, trying not to be affected by his words. Coming closer as you say the words "I miss you"
The words "I miss you" make him soften up, but only for a bit. He still doesn't know if he should forgive you or not, but hearing those words come out of your mouth makes his heart feel a little warmer. He slowly turns to look at you more. He reaches his hand over and places it on your thigh, giving you a gentle squeeze. Marcus likes to hide his emotions but that small act kind of gave him away.
"I missed you! You have no idea..." You lean your head on his shoulder as he drives. The truth is that you missed him. His kisses. His hugs. His affection, You were craving it.
Marcus blushes a bit as you put your head on his shoulder. He can barely believe he's allowing you to do these things. Maybe part of him is ready to forgive you...but another part of him is not. He stays silent as he continues driving, his hand firmly planted on your leg. He can't help his attraction towards you and his desire for you. The silence is getting more intense as the minutes go by.
"My brother said that long distance relationships don't always work out...so that's why i thought it's for the best...but it's only three hours..." You say sighting interlacing your fingers with his, still having your head on his shoulder.
Marcus wanted to argue and say that three hours is too much but he knows is his own jealousy getting the best of him. A small part of him, a very small part, has forgiven you for breaking his heart. He's not completely over it but he's slowly starting to terms with it. "You know, I could drive over and see your every weekend." He says finally, turning to look at you as he tries to gauge your reaction.
"Really? You would do that for me?" You look at him surprised, hy his answer. Jumping into his arms, hugging him tight, still surprised by what he said.
Marcus freezes up with surprise. He was honestly prepared for you to reject him, but now? This is...unexpected. He feels your tight embrace and a wave of butterflies washes over him. He wraps his arms around you, holding you even tighter. "You can't get rid of me that easily you know?" He says with a smile, brush a piece of hair out of your face.
"I don't wanna get rid of you." You smile, looking at him as he brushes the hair from your face. That's when you take his face in your hands, smashing your lips to his.
What was once a small wave of butterflies now turns into a tidal wave of euphoria. Marcus is swept away by the kiss, he wraps his arms arouns you and pulls you in closer. All the emotions and feelings that have built up during the car ride come bursting to the surface. He kisses you hard and agressively, like he wants to make this moment last forever.
