So I wrote a continuation to this post, and it’s been sitting in my drafts for literal years. Probably since 2014? And I just came across it and thought I’d post it. Thanks @sadiebun​ for the prompt!

Had Junpei not been panicking, he might have realized that in order for this girl to have not only noticed him in the crowd of coffee shop regulars and drop-ins, but also notice that he routinely failed to drink his coffee, she must have been paying him quite a bit of attention as well. If this had occurred to him perhaps, he would have just come clean and asked her out.

But as it was, the sudden dump of adrenaline into his system made him say the first thing that came to his mind. Which happened to be: “Uh….  It’s for an experiment?”

“Oh! Really?” The girl said, smiling at him then added, “I thought it must be something like that. Though it did occur to me that maybe you were like an alien or something and had figured out that people seem to buy coffee everyday, but couldn’t figure out what to do with it next… But an experiment makes much more sense.”

Junpei stared slack jawed at her for a second. That was probably the last thing he’d expected her to say. Okay, she was really cute, but maybe slightly bonkers. He could handle that. Probably. “Uh… so what were you going to do if it turned out I was an alien?”

“Oh, I’d probably have helped you out with the coffee thing and given you advice on how to blend in better”

“I see.”

She nodded sagely, then said, “So tell me about this experiment!”

“Oh. Uh. Well, it’s not really that interesting. It’s for, uh, a class. A psychology class. I’m, uh, observing how involved people are in their morning routines, and whether they’d notice that I wasn’t drinking coffee. So far you’re the only one to have noticed.”

She frowned at him. “That sounds like a terrible experiment.”

“Oh? Um. Well—“

“Oh! Sorry! I don’t mean to be rude. It’s just… well for one that sounds like it might be more of a sociology project. And for two your testing conditions are far from ideal. I’m worried you might actually fail if that’s your experiment. Can I see the rubric?”

She looked genuinely interested in helping him. Junpei hesitated for a moment. There were two ways to play this: He could continue the lie and tell her he left the rubric at home and forever have to pretend to have taken a psychology class. Or he could come clean. Which, apart from the intense amount of embarrassment it was undoubtedly about to cause him, was probably the better call.

“I am so sorry.”

“For what?”

He took a deep breath. “There is no experiment. And I’ve never taken a psychology class in my life.”

She tilted her head at him. “Then why did you—?”

“Because I thought you were cute!” he blurted out, burying his face in his hands and rubbing his eyes. “Look, I saw you come in here the other day, and I thought, perfect. I’ll go in order a cup of coffee, so I look legit, then go over tell you I think you’re cute, see if you wanted to hang out, if not no hard feelings it was worth a shot.

“But then when I finally got my coffee, you were sitting there!”—he pointed over at the row of stools where people could sit at the bar that looked out the front window—“And it was crowded and awkward. So I sat over there”—he gestured to a table on the other side of the shop—“But a good moment never came up, and you left. And so for some reason I thought I’d try again the next day. But, I mean, you’re really cute. Like, really, really cute. And I’m –well I couldn’t quite work up the nerve. And that’s not even the craziest part! The really crazy thing is that I don’t even like coffee! That’s why I don’t drink it! Because it’s awful! I can’t even pretend to like it! And I am just realizing how absolutely crazy all of this sounds. So I’m really, very sorry.”

“So, let me get this straight.” She said with an incredulous look. “You’ve been spending—“ She turned in her chair, craning her neck to see the menu on the wall, “Two twenty-five everyday for the last week, on an opportunity to ask me on a date. Which you haven’t actually done yet.”

“Yes! I’m sorry. Don’t worry I’ll get out of your hair. I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to—“ But he was interrupted from gathering up his things by her sudden laughter.

“Oh my God, Jumpy! You haven’t changed at all! Do you really not recognize me?”

And then it clicked.

“Akane! Oh my God! You’re Akane Kurashiki!”

She laughed again.

“Wow.” He said. “I am so sorry.”

“Does that put you off?” She asked.

“What? No! I mean. Uh…” He was at a loss for words. He hadn’t seen her in years. They’d been childhood friends. Did that make it weird for him to still ask her on a date?

“How do you feel about tea?” She asked, breaking him from his dilemma.

“I like tea.”

“Great. I‘ve got to go to class, but let’s meet here same time tomorrow and go to that tea shop around the corner. I can give you some pointers on how to ask girls out, then you can try asking me out again properly.”

Junpei grinned despite himself. “Why do I feel like you’re the last person I should be getting advice from on picking people up?”

She stuck her tongue out at him. “See you tomorrow?”

“Absolutely.”

I don’t know why but every time I try to go onto my sideblogs to post I jsut get a screen that says “error” and I can’t even seem to just go onto the blogs themselves from tumblr search either????

I’m watching old australian commercials from when I was little and when I was younger, I never understood why my dad thought that this ad was inappropriate, but watching it now i’m like ??? lmao why did they air this.

also for some reason I was obsessed with this ad when it came out too. Mind you I was only 6-7 when it aired. (Yes in australia we sometimes got american commercials.)

Grape kid is pretty bad because he's a real creep. I've heard he grabs at Frog girl's boobs all the time and he's a real creep like that. But fair enough

I’ve laughed pretty hard at the amount of dragging this grape kid goes through on my dash because d a n g, seems like he rightly deserves it though haha. I just need to give BNHA some time is all, I think! I was put off by Black Clover in the first chapter ie, but now it’s one of my favorites. I’ve only gotten a little into the actual academia part of hero academia, so I’ll be reading it in bits just to see how the characters grow.

You can basically start anywhere, I've been watching her for only 10 months. Anything that's a scary game with her is hilarious and I like her yan sim stuff. ANYTHING WITH HER HUSBAND IS SUPER CUTE! And her multiplayer sims videos are hilarious.

Cool, she seems fun already from the few moments I’ve just watched. Thank you for the recommendation <3 <3 <3 I’m excited to watch new peeps (and not another straight white boy im tired son)
