Random sad moments from two things I saw for the first time last year, where I forgot that I was watching a puppet or a load of pixels… and sobbed like a baby

Based on the dream I just woke up from.

In a the damaged interior of what was once a pristine a sterile ship, the dim lights briefly flicker. The cause of the accident is still unknown. As is the number of survivors and the extent of the damage. But, finding that out is why you're here.

At the end of a corridor, an android lays critically damaged leaning propped against the wall. A small utility drone wheels towards the android plugging in what appears to be a battery. You hear him say something faintly as you approach.

The small drone wheels back, disengaging the battery as it does so. Then, rolling back forward to re-engage the battery.

The android says something faintly.

As you get closer, you notice another smaller android kneeling next to the larger one. This one appears to still be a child. A gynoid, you correct yourself internally. It's kneeling next to the damaged android. Shoulders slumped, head down staring at the floor.

You've never understood why these weird robots insist on mimicking humans. Though, it looks like now's not the best time to ask either.

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. The android says something faintly. You still can't make it out. But, you hear the gynoid say, "I'm right hear Daddy."

Now that you're closer, you can see that the little drone has been at this for some time. It's treads are beginning to wear down, and there are clear tracks on the ground.

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can barely hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low. Emi where-" The last of it cuts off.. But, you hear the gynoid repeat, "I'm right hear Daddy."

She startles when she finally hears you approach. As if coming out of a daze. She looks up at you as if you're the first new thing she's seen in a long time and she's trying to process it.

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low. Emi where-"

The young gynoid quickly stands up and desperately grasps your environmental suit. "Please! You have to help! My father was hurt in the crash and he can't properly connect with his battery! You're human right? You can do something can't you?"

You kneel down to the android and assess the situation as best you can.

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low. Emi where-"

This is well beyond the scope of your training and knowledge. You can't save it.

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low. Emi where-"

The little gynoid pleads with you again. "There's something you can do to save him right? Please. Everyone else has already left. I can't abandon him like this."

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low. Emi where-"

"Right here, Daddy." She stops the rover for just a few words more. "There's a human here to help!"

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low."

The gynenoid's eyes widen in horror as she realizes what those few seconds have cost. The gynoid looks up at you desperately. "Please, you have to help. Don't let him die. I can't lose him too!"

The the little drone wheels back, then forward. You can hear the android say, "Oh no, my battery is low."

There is nothing you can do. She weeps when you tell her this.

The only thing you can do is try to comfort her as best you can as the little drone wheels back, and then forward again. And her father repeats "Oh no, my battery is low."

She’s making a special edition illustrated version of the book. And because I’ve spent over $120 from her two most recent kick starters within 4 months, I might not be able to purchase it. So I made fanart of my favorite mini story instead.

I highly suggest you read the stories! They’re all so good. Even though there are 2 stories I will skip in the future rereads, the rest are all so whimsical and magical.

Twins in time au.... Would Fiddleford act as a sort of father figure to Stan? Since Filbrick obviously SUCKED to both Stan and Ford and Fidd is more than definitely missing HIS son, and of course Ford has grown to love him but they're still BROTHERS.. Maybe they could act as the father/son the other is missing?
