Posing Interaction for Babies (Newborns)

This mod adds an interaction to the bassinet to play poses with babies.

Based on my testing the interaction works wherever the sim is, even off lot. The baby spawns to your sim and afterwards back to the bassinet (little demo below).

As a placeholder I included a set of Gallery poses with babies. However, you can override them with your own. For that purpose, I’m including the pose files separately as well as the blend file I used that you can then use as a base (the blend file is saved in Blender 3.6). (You don't need to put the blend file into your mods folder.) Here is an alternative set of poses I made that you can use with the interaction.

XML Injector Required The XML injector is a tool/library that can be used to add interactions without the need to write your own script (another one that you might know is lot51’s core library). A script in my case would have been needed to add the posing interaction without overriding the existing game file with the baby tuning. The XML injector does that for me.

This was just an experiment tbh but I was surprised that it works so well and so I ended up wrapping it up. But anyhow, in game interactions are pretty new to me, so let me know if there's any issue.

Some background information:

The baby is an object in-game that is connected to the adult sim via the stigmata bone for poses/animations – similar to poses with accessories, if you’re familiar with that. The difference is that you also need to pose the baby itself. I have some additional notes in this tutorial for Gallery poses with babies that I made a while ago.

Note that you can’t export baby poses or animations via S4S the standard way since you can’t select the baby rig in the S4S export options. I did this with a workaround by exporting the clips from the Game File Cruiser, then importing them to Blender using an add-on (it’s actually a deactivated part of the Blender add-on that S4S uses and it’s only functional in Blender 2.7).

However, you can import the blend files with baby poses to the package file like you normally would since the rig selection is not relevant for the import.

Scientists

Part one of a large science-themed commission I made last month for TheSimAwe! This pack contains 11 solo poses (5 for an unfortunate Sim inside the test tube, 6 for a Sim inspecting the tube from the outside), and 3 couple poses for outside the tube. All-in-ones included.

Poses were made with masc and femme frames and as always there may be clipping or floating depending on Sim body type or clothing.

The couple poses and some of the solo poses require a notebook acc - however, no need to switch between outfits, as poses 6-8 have the acc hidden.

You will need:

- Pose Player

- Teleport Any Sim

- notepad acc (included, found in hat category)

- Get To Work EP (for the test tube pedestal object)

Not required, but might be useful: these test tube alien deco Sims by LazySimmies were made for the same storyteller who I made these poses for, and may be useful to you!

A note regarding the notebook acc

I had some problems finding the required accessory for these poses, as the first acc I downloaded turned out to be over 39,000 poly (which is a little crazy, btw. This was from an early access creator so please be aware that paid content does not necessarily mean it will be optimised for your game. You can check polycount yourself by opening a package in S4S and clicking on the 'Meshes' tab!).

The only other suitable acc I found was by a maker whose public CC is now only available via CurseForge. It had been my intention to link to the VeryCursed folder I got it from, but I also had to make some (basic!) thumbnails for it since the original package didn't have any and was very hard to find in CAS. Hence why I'm uploading it myself.

I picked four random couples, cause I didn't have enough time to search for poses and all that only for said day. (Also I heard about the malware hidden in some mod pages, so I rather avoid the pages for a while)

Ok I added a platform, because otherwise, you couldn't see the heart.

I just realized I had a fourth couple and forgot to screenshot them.....

Don't ask, but I don't like the new Goth version and stuck with the old ones. The only thing I would change would be Bella's skin.

Like I had spontaneously the idea to do something for Valentines day on said day and had two ideas in mind. A couple dancing in the middle of the heart or more couples dancing around the heart. I found this on the gallery from the Seasons pack. I just wanted to see, if this would look any cute, but the teeth are bothering.....

But we all know, they DON'T WANT TO DANCE THE WAY I WANTED. And for some reason Gerda was nauseous (Story Progression made her pregnant 😭)

7/10 rating for my creation. Weirdly they look better here than in S4.

This was my idea, but they were all on the wrong spot. Then I had a plan C and filmed all couples from the near slow-dancing. THEN JAMIE'S HUSBAND DECIDED WITH ME HAVING THE ACTIVITY TURNED OF GO TO WORK AND BREAKING THE ACTION BY HIMSELF!

With some cute music each couple dancing would be cute :3 Except I didn't know what to put on it 😂 (Watch me put Amy MacDonald over Rollda, because the movie did the same)

Right you become a James Bond-rip-off, when you get Level 10 in Law Enforcement. He's also the dumbass, that decided to leave the dance for work. (He's also a workaholic, so....)

Fun fact: Both their names mean the same thing, but when I made him I just gave him a random name xD

He definitely should've been educated informed or someone should tell him not post tbh and keep it in his gallery, the same thing happened with Nathaniel Buzolic (except he is actual Zionist🤢) and I am not trying to cancel him, I was surprised I found via gossip pages. 💀 There is literally rise of toxic masculinity x nuclear family and we're crucifying 18 year old for a post.. 🤷🏼‍♀️ we have much bigger issues to ideal about. He was warned there's not much to do it's up to him how is he going to deal with it/or what statement he will upload.

[But as stranger things "Stan" I have to admit st has terrible track of "antisemitism" (the numbers on hands , literally S4 was filmed at the former century-old Lukiškes Prison in Lithuania, and now it's turning into hotel? 🤨) [And the obvious capitalism propaganda that was going on in S3 thank God they toned it down, but the whole Russian cold war storyline should've been scrapped the moment, when the war in Ukraine has begun.. I know they had finished scripts but it's such conflicted situation, and lot of Russia citizens were mad about S4 storyline, and S4 wasn't dubbed anymore it was just dubbed in Ukraine, and I know they are trying to portray the 80's as accurate as it's possible but people were tired of it after S3)

As much I adore Noah, I wish he wasn’t careless about posting Israel. And much more disappointed how Stranger Things fans have addressed the issue. Y’all talked about homophobia and racism you see in the show but it’s “let’s stop cancel culture and mind our business” when there’s real people affected in this conflict? This isn’t just “oh he’s on a vacation and just posting pictures I don’t why you guys are offended” when it’s much more than that. There’s a reason why musicians have boycotted Israel.

I’m not ultimately crucifying Noah for what he has done nor thinks he has done something unforgivable and I should “cancel” him for it. He’s 18 and has a lot to learn and it wasn’t entirely his fault he grew up the way he grew up (white overprivileged bubble). This is clearly a touchy subject for everyone. I just hoped everyone didn’t act as if people who has criticized him was trying to “cancel” him, especially when he knows about the issue more than you give him credit for.

He was older than her, and taller, and handsome, and not like the boys in her grade. He was exciting.

Something else she hadn’t planned on was Roger returning home from the neighbors at just that moment, and while Lorraine didn’t see him, he saw her.

Making Gallery Poses with Infants (Dealing with the Pillow) 👶

A short guide, prepared rigs and background info.

Short Guide

Gallery poses with infants are special because there’s a pillow object attached to the infant.

Below some examples and a thumbnail showing what an empty clip looks like.

In some default gallery poses you can see the pillow, in others you can’t – but the pillow is always there, just in the case of the latter out of sight (it’s moved below the ground).

This is also true for poses where the adult is holding the infant.

The set up is such that the pillow is attached to the b__R_Stigmata bone of the infant rig (that’s a point in the middle of the hand) in the same way how the baby “object” is attached to the adult sim (more info here).

In order to make poses with the pillow (and be able to properly adjust the position of the pillow) you need to attach the pillow to the infant rig in Blender with a bone constraint, replicating the way it is attached by the game. You can then move the pillow by moving/rotating the stigmata bone (again, in the same way as with the baby). Also note that if you don't want the pillow to appear in the picture, you will need to move the stigmata bone far away to a place where the pillow won't be visible in the picture.

Prepared Rigs

To spare you the trouble I’ve provided a blend file with the pillow attached here (for both, old and new Blender):

Background Info

Below some notes and background info on how I attached the pillow (also see screenshots in the baby tutorial linked above for similar steps).

You can find and export the pillow mesh with S4S (select “Show debug items” in the object catalogue and search for the keyword “pillow”).

Open a blend file with an infant rig and append the exported pillow mesh.

The pillow unfortunately is missing armature data (there is no rig/the rig it’s attached to is empty) that is necessary for adding the required bone constraint. You can add what you need though with a workaround from another object:

Delete the rig the pillow came with as it’s empty and of no use.

Export & append another object that has a rig. (The rig should have a “b__ROOT_” bone and a “transformBone”. I looked up the koala toy, but I assume it works the same with other assets.)

Delete its mesh.

Link the pillow mesh to the new object rig (click the mesh, go to the tab “Modifiers”/”Modifier Properties” (wrench icon), set the object rig as the armature object to deform with).

Add a vertex group named "transformBone" to the pillow mesh: Click the mesh, go to the tab “Data”/”Object Data Properties” (triangle icon), add a new vertex group there & call it "transformBone" (see/compare first screenshot below).

Now switch from “Object Mode” to “Edit mode” (only available when the mesh is selected). Click the mesh in the viewport and tap “A” on your keyboard so that the complete mesh is selected. Then press the “assign” button to assign the mesh data to the vertex group you created. Make sure the weight is set to 100. This is what makes the mesh controlled by the transformBone of the object rig! (Thank you so much @mercuryfoam for helping me figuring this out and some extra tips that were very valuable to me! <3)

Now that the pillow mesh is properly attached and controlled by the object rig, we can attach the object rig to the infant rig with a bone constraint.

Select B_ROOT_/transformBone from the object rig, go to the tab “Bone Constraints”/"Bone Constraint Properties" and add a “Copy Transforms” constraint. Set target as the infant rig and specify the bone as “B__R_Stigmata” (see/compare second screenshot below). Now you’re set.
