Again, not the point of the episode, but I love how in "Ghosts in Illyria" when Kyle is trying to beam up the away team and it doesn't work so he starts to panic and we get a cut to engineering where Hemmer is as calm as if he was trying to butter his toast.

Also, when Kyle is like "How did you do it" and Hemmer answers with "I am a genius"?

He is not smug or arrogant, he just is good and he knows and owns it. Good for you, darling!

love how in Ghosts of Illyria the enterprise crew is just berly holding together as people keep geting sick and almost destroy the ship

and meanwhile pike and spock are just hanging out with ghosts on the planet and they don’t even find anything usefull una and chapel just find the cure by themselves

wow, like is everything about una just super gay? the end of s1e3 is just a coming out story, but it hits different after s2e2. made me think of Johnnie Phelps and the possibly apocryphal story of her convincing Eisenhower not to "root out the lesbians" from the military b/c they were all the best and most decorated female members of the WAC. as well as all the respectability politics stuff.

Also getting much stronger una/la'an vibes this time watching, now that I know them better.

I also liked how the elysian kingdom book was introduced in that episode, too, since rukiya is a femslash shipper.
