Mini-review:

This is the cutest, sweetest thing ever! It really manages to capture the awkwardness of that weird moment in life, when you're neither a little kid anymore nor a teenager yet. The directing, the writing and the cinematography are all top-notch, but the real reason Teasing Master Takagi-san works so perfectly well is its two leads. I have no doubt Rui Tsukishima and Soya Kurokawa will become huge stars in the Japanese film/tv industry; I've known since Monster that he would have a bright future, but she's also a huge discovery. There's something so natural and genuine about their performances, to the point I wondered if some of the scenes were improvised, and that is hard to achieve for actors of any age. Also, I can't wait to see the sequel with the adult version of the characters, since they will be played by two of my favorite Japanese stars, Mei Nagano and Fumiya Takahashi.

i love yamamoto sōichirō because after giving us teasing master takagi san he gave us moto takagi san of the couple as an adult and now hes releasing the love story of takagi and nishikata's daughter chi and her classmate wherein they have a similar dynamic but with the roles reversed? and they were also childhood friends?

According to the September 2023 issue of Monthly Shonen Sunday, Teasing Master Takagi-san (Karakai Jouzu no Takagi-san) will end on October 12, 2023 after a 10 year run.

Teasing Master Takagi-san began as a one-shot manga in June 2012 before becoming a full series in July 2013. It inspired an anime which ran for 3 seasons from 2018-2022, and had an animated film in 2022.

Teasing Master Takagi-san Gets 2nd TV Anime Season

The February issue of Shogakukan's Monthly Shonen Sunday magazine is revealing on Saturday that Sōichirō Yamamoto's Teasing Master Takagi-san (Karakai Jōzu no Takagi-san) manga will get a second television anime season. The magazine does not reveal the premiere date for the anime.

The Monthly Shonen Sunday website previously teased last month that the magazine would have an important announcement on January 12.

Yamamoto launched the manga in Gessan mini, the accompanying booklet to Shogakukan's Gessan (Monthly Shonen Sunday) magazine, in 2013. After Yamamoto finished serializing his Fudatsuki no Kyōko-chan manga in Gessan in June 2016, Teasing Master Takagi-san moved to Gessan in July 2016.

The first television anime premiered within the "Anime no Me" programming block in January 2018, and it also adapted Yamamoto's Ashita wa Doyōbi manga as segments within the show. Crunchyroll streamed the anime as it aired in Japan, and Funimation streamed the series with an English dub.

Funimation describes the story:

Tired of being mercilessly teased by his classmate Takagi, Nishikata has vowed to get her back and successfully tease the girl that's made him blush countless times. After all, if you blush, you lose! But getting vengeance isn't so easy when every attempt blows up in his face. Will Nishikata ever make Takagi blush or will he gain something more fulfilling from his bumbling attempts?

Shogakukan published the manga's ninth compiled book volume in July 2018, and it bundled an original video anime adaptation of the manga chapter "Water Slide." The manga's 10th volume will ship on February 12. As of February 2018, the series has more than 4 million copies in digital sales and in print copies. Yen Press is releasing the manga in English.

If you want shonen romcom without ecchi, I recommend Yamamoto Sōichirō manga, the guy that did Kunoichi Tsubaki no Mune mo Uchi (that one’s not actually romcom though) and Soredemo Ayumu wa Yosetekuru.

The two best are definitely Ayumu and one of his older ones, Fudatsuki no Kyōko-chan, about this girl who’s a living jiangshi (Chinese vampire—I believe kyōko can be written with the kanji of jiangshi—though honestly she’s really just a nonspecific bloodsucker), and her brother who pretends to be a siscon delinquent to scare boys away from her, to minimize the chances of her losing control and attacking someone. (No the romcom is not between the siblings, it’s between him and the girl he likes, who he has to convince he’s not a siscon without letting anyone else know.)
