"Shoulda known I'd see you here, too." The crease of his eye was affectionate in spite of himself, a contrast to the resigned tease of his tone.

Jobs like his made for strange bedfellows - usually in the metaphorical sense, sometimes the literal - and though he couldn't ever say he expected to have spent much time around a girl like Mae, he'd grown fond of the little spitfire during their time together as part of Celica's group. He couldn't help the budding respect that had grown for her - her combat prowess was undeniable, but it was her nature, her ability to keep up with even the roughest of their ragtag bunch, that was oddly endearing.

"Staying out of trouble here? Or causing it?" He reached out a broad palm, flat against the crown of her hair, to muss those pink pigtails, laughing coarsely at the exasperated reaction she was sure to have. "This place seems much more your speed than the swamps, eh?"

"S-Saber?! How did-" no, Mae cuts herself off before she can even ask. Knowing him, he'd just tell her the exact method he took to get here, dodging the figurative reasoning for such questioning. What mattered now was the sight of a familiar face, albiet one she never really expected to run into again for a while.

She could have sworn the last she'd see of him was the end of the war, with most of their impromptu army heading their own separate ways. He'd keep to his sellsword ways, and the more dainty mage returned to a life of piece on her little island. One eventful life, one uneventful life. No future crossover necessary.

But clearly, life ends up working in fickle ways.

Mae is unable to dodge the approaching head rub in time, though after the initial shock (that most definitely was part of his scheme) she almost does not mind. It's familiarity, something she has not truly felt since being seeing her queen that she already knew was here. Now that she thinks about it, seeing him here too would be a big relief...but she really couldn't see him leaving to be here instead. No way.

"No, well- honestly, trouble seems to find me here more than anything," she thinks back to the whole shrinking business that occurred right during her first month here. Yeah...not something she'd want for the scrapbooks. "Not that it's the worst. Here suits me more than those bum bogs! When it's a little brighter, at least."

"So? What about you?" Mae follows up before the man can squirm away from equivalent exchange. "Can't say I see you hitting the books anytime soon. Looking for more pockets to fill?"

Battle Against Creepy Alfonse and Creepy Veronica Part 9: Light Kliff's 2nd Contract - Chapter 3: Light Faye's Witch Powers Unleashed

(Background Song is  Pride and Arrogance from Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia.)

They approach the next battle and they see Light Faye and she has the Purple Energy of Fallen Unit but with Magic as her weapon. She even has the warp skill from fire Emblem Fates.

“I still can’t believe Light Faye got together with Light Kliff and we didn’t know.” Light Alm says.

“You only cared about each other to notice us getting together.” Light Faye says.

“That is Not true.” Light Celica says.

“Yeah, Light Faye.” Light Mae says.

“Did you notice anything, Light Alm, going on in your army when it came to the other supports?” Light Faye says.

“Light Faye, Of Course I did. I just didn’t see you and Light Kliff get together like a S Support.  You were in an A Level Support Only.”

Light Faye says “That is what I mean.  I mean after the war, I didn’t see you look away from Light Celica all night after the Coronation and Weddy.  That is when I want you to think about.”

Light Tobin says “He notice other weddings happening.  You guys just had your wedding outside Valentia and without any of our knowledge. None of us knew.”

Light Faye starts growling.

“I don’t think that was the right thing to say, Light Tobin.” Light Sonya says.

“So none of you could tell that me and Light Kliff were together during the night of the wedding and coronation.  That just makes things all the more worse for you.  You all must die. Especially the ones Light Kliff considered his best friends of the group besides Light Alm because He already deserved to die.” Light Faye says.

The Battle Begins and It Is A Tough One WIth Light Faye’s Warp Skill.

“Light Faye, Is the fact that we forgot to adknowledge your getting the reason why you and Light Kliff are upset?” Light Alm says.

“Yes. Now I must retreat.  Next Time we see each other, You all will die.” Light Faye says.

She warps out of there.

“I can’t believe They are upset about that.” Shadow Duma says.

“I can.  We didn’t notice them get together and they got upset. It is our fault this happened.” Light Alm says “We must free this Contract-Bound Heroes from this Contract of Sadness.”

Subspace Alfonse says “Good Idea, My Friend.”

How gay would you rank all of the lords?

Let’s break them up by gender, because my skill with this is very uneven. 

For the men, from gayest to least gay:

(Romantic) Paired Ending Tier

Ike - pretty obvious, only has same-sex paired endings and has minimal chemistry with any female character even in FE9 where there are actual supports and the localization was trying to push Ike/Elincia.

Dimitri - two same-sex paired endings, and Dimidue is essentially canon in all non-AM routes even if it ends tragically. He’s also got the gawking and wrestling with Balthus to indicate their mutual appreciation of the male form, and I guess the identical scripting with both genders of Byleth apart from the female version’s S rank counts for...something, maybe. How much chemistry he has with his various potential wives is a subject for debate, but I think he’s solidly bi with a preference for men.

Notable Subtext Tier

Eliwood and Hector - their relationship is like an early modern romantic friendship, where they each get married and have children but maintain a close lifelong bond that might involve getting naked with each other from time to time, or at least some kissing and cuddling that they consider a natural extension of their friendship. It’s like Dimilix without all the friction.

Ephraim - pseudo-medieval equivalent of jocks trading handjobs and blowjobs in the locker room is him and his Christmas knights all over. They might keep this up in their endings on the DL.

Sigurd - might have fooled around with his school buddies (especially Quan, easily the most male-oriented of the three) but it never meant much to Sigurd as he was forever destined to be Deirdre-sexual, Jugdral be damned. This says more to me about Quan than it does about Sigurd, honestly.

I Guess If You Squint Tier

Chrom - with Frederick, although it seems mostly one-sided and is played for laughs. Bara crack with Vaike perhaps?

Claude - technically has two paired endings with men, but one is pure politics and the other is no homo’ed. Is also so emotionally guarded that his chemistry with any other character is sparing, including both genders of Byleth

Marth - he and Merric are the original lord/wind mage duo that inspired Ike/Soren, but as with so much from Archanea there’s just not much there

Seliph and Leif - the FE4 Gen 2 lord trio lacks the backstory dalliances their fathers had, and there’s not much for them otherwise. Leif has marginally more to work with re: Asbel in FE5

Roy - ...Wolt? I think I saw someone write porn of them once.

Alm - Ram villager orgy, for crack. Lower than Roy because Alm/Celica is a central part of Echoes’s story and as such neither character has room for much else.

For the women, same thing but no categories because there aren’t as many and I’m not so good with F/F subtext:

Edelgard - multiple paired endings with women, although oddly the only one other than Byleth to read as particularly suggestive is the one with Manuela. May not deserve to be at the top for being so heavily Avatar-sexual.

Lyn - obviously romantic paired ending with Florina makes her solidly bisexual.

Eirika - paired ending with Tana, although there’s not much subtext that I can see in it and the fandom hasn’t latched onto it in the same way.

Lucina and Celica - no subtext that I can observe, but at least Lucina has the other Gen 2 girls and Celica has Mae for potential crack.

Micaiah - lacks even that much, unless she’s getting her metaphysical freak on with Yune during Part 4.

And the Avatars - this one is easy:

Byleth > Corrin > Robin = Kris, with the only caveat being that Japanese Corrin might go above Byleth because at least their same-sex romantic support lines aren’t identical to the opposite-sex versions.

~ Celica Headcanons ~

A (realistic):

Celica is actually a rather wonderful seamstress and can handle domestic chores very well. Princess or not, Celica would pull her own weight around the priory. Whilst chores like washing dishes or preparing food weren’t her forte, she enjoyed sewing and mending things and devolped quite the skill for it.

Even after the war, she enjoys sewing up holes or scuffs in clothes (which tend to be mostly Alm’s)

B (while it may not be realistic it is hilarious):

Whilst growing up in the priory, Mae would sneak in these cheap and corny romance novellas that were totally not inapropriate within a church. Celica read every single one of them several times over. It wouldn’t be an especially rare sight to spot one of these books underneath her pillow, although she’ll never admit to her guilty pleasure of poorly written romance.

C (heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends):

After the war, in a time meant for peace and celebration with friends and family and survivors, Celica's trauma and coping mechinicians only worstened. Not wanting to ruin the high spirits or be the focus of attention, she never really took any time at all to take care of herself and really reflect on everything that happened.

Within the span of less than a year, Celica had exposed herself to the real world, something she never really had done at all in her life before, had to risk her life constantly, found out her brother was in fact not dead, was possessed, was stabbed, had to fight a literal dragon god, etc. Not to even mention have to come to terms with the whole Mila situation. Celica lost and gained so much in such a short ammount of time, without ever really experiencing the normal world beforehand, that alone is pretty overwhelming, not even considering her past trauma.

Whilst she has Alm to empathise with, whose experience really wasn't too far off from hers, she spends a lot time just smiling and looking pretty and trying to forget how overwhelming her entire existence is.

D (unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own):

Celica is, in fact, afraid of fires.

Does she use fire magic at the start of the game? Yes. Do I care? No.

anyway having practically everyone she ever knew or cared about die as her home and everything she knew in life literally burnt before her eyes as grown men were talking about murdering her specifically is pretty traumatic and I don’t think that’s the sorta thing you can just get over and it actually baffles me that this is never mentioned in game

In no particular order!!

1. Allen Avadonia (Evillious Chronicles)

To the surprise of absolutely no one, I love Allen so much. He was a huge comfort for me in high school and still is to this day. I don’t know what to say about him that I haven’t said a million times before. He’s snarky but has good intentions, he loves his family despite how chaotic and hard everything gets, and he just wants what’s best for everyone. The self-sacrificing nature is also a bit close to home for me. Maybe not to the point of dying but definitely to the point of my own deteriorating wellbeing... whoops.

2. Rouge (Witch’s Heart)

First of all, Aesthetic. Second of all, I love her personality so fucking much and her role in the story. I’m gonna stay vague for the sake of not spoiling but she really is the most interesting demon to me despite having the least screentime. She’s got layers to her personality if you dig deep and I can’t wait to see what else IZ will do with her.

3. Ryuunosuke Akutagawa (Bungo Stray Dogs)

What’s this?! A character that’s not a blond snarky babie? I know, I’m shocked too! Akutagawa is a ruthless mafioso who needs to take a goddamned chill pill... and also an abused young adult whose mental heatlh needs some serious help and care. He’s not 100% evil either (though, yes, yes, murder is wrong, I know, but this is a series where they try to make the Best Character a morally gray ex-mafioso who is the one who abused Akutagawa. So I Mean.) and I hope he gets some good character development in season 4 (or past season 3 of the manga, I’m not caught up on it sorry ^^; )

also he’s voiced by Kensho Ono and I Stan A Legend

4. Tenn Kujou (IDOLiSH7)

aaaand we’re back to the snarky blonds (well, he’s more albino, I guess?). Tenn falls under that umbrella of “My Type”s known as Family Matters -- he loves and cares for Riku so much, he’s just... terrible at showing it due to his personality and how Kujou-papa raised him. His sense of humor is right up my alley as well, and his singing is angelic (cough cough). I will admit I’m not caught up on IDOLiSH7′s story so I don’t know if he’s doing better or worse with regards to how he’s treating Riku but I hope it’s better. I want it to be better. They’re such good bros c’mon just tell Kujou-papa to piss off you can do it

5. Yuuri/Joeri (Yu-Gi-Oh! ARC-V)

My Bastard Baby Boy. Sakurabrows. Cabbage Kid. No joke I only got interested in him because some of my best friends assigned him to me in a group chat and I was just like “ok sure I like his color scheme” and had no clue he was going to be a shithead gremlin villain. He’s my favorite Yu-Gi-Oh! character ever. Whoops. I predicted a lot about his character development and personality when I got into the series (intentionally or not, he’s ADHD coded, his backstory is what I expected, and “Yuugou-kun” as a nickname he gives Yuugo became canon on my goddamned birthday). He’s not a perfect character - being gaycoded and without a proper redemption arc is disappointing - but he’s dear to my heart due to how relatable and funny he is. also i built a predaplants deck IRL and i actually hate the aesthetic of predaplants a lot but I learned the deck just because of my best fuckin boi. fight me.

6. Shuuya Kano (Kagerou Project/Mekakucity Actors)

what can i say i have a Type Okay but real talk Kano just makes me Sad. He’s so much smarter than anyone ever catches on to, his backstory is just heartwrenching, and he does his best to make people happy even when he’s miserable. Holy shit what is it with light-haired boys in Japanese fiction hitting all my weakpoints. His character song is also a bop and his voice actor is super great as well.

7. Nico Yazawa (Love Live! School Idol Project)

Nico Nico Nii~! Honestly she was like, bottom tier for me at first, but then she grew on me somehow. I don’t even know how. She’s super cute and her voice actor is super talented, even if her squeakiness can be a little grating to some people. Honestly there’s not much else to say. She’s just... Adorable.

8. Xion (Kingdom Hearts)

hello first female crush when i was like 12! Identity crisis, wanting what’s best for others while struggling to figure out what she wants, etc? Sign Me The Hell Up, Literally Just Target My Middle School Angsty Ass, Why Don’t You. Kingdom Hearts III might not have handled her perfectly but I’m glad she wasn’t completely forgotten about period.

9. Mae (Fire Emblem Echoes: Shadows of Valentia)

Kliff fits my type that I’ve put on this list a bunch, but that’s enough blond snarky bois! Now for a pink spunky girl! Mae was easily the highlight of Celica’s path in Echoes, her sense of humor and bright attitude despite the odds was just, a spot of sunlight. Honestly, lots of characters in Fire Emblem are great, but Cherami Leigh’s delivery just sends her up to the top for me, alongside Celica, Leon, Kliff, Boey, Mathilda, like the entirety of Fire Emblem Awakening............. yeah.

10. v flower (VOCALOID)

does vocaloid count? i’m gonna say it counts. v flower is an aesthetic and their voice is super great, they get lots of good original songs by Kairiki Bear and GHOST and probably others i haven’t heard of!! v flower’s aesthetic is also A+++ and they’re fun to doodle. i love them. alongside Nekomura Iroha and VY2, they’re among my favorite vocaloids to listen to without giving preference to a certain producer or tuner.
