>> fluff, established relationship
you’re lying in bed, staring at the ceiling and being lulled to sleep by the rhythmic clacking of L’s keyboard.
“you know what i wish?” you muse, watching the light coming off his computer brighten and darken as he flicks between screens.
“wishing is of little consequence,” he replies, almost automatically. “it won’t change the reality we live in.”
you ignore him. “ryuzaki, you want to know what i wish?”
he sighs, knowing you’ll persist anyway. “what do you wish, my love?”
“i wish that we were in a romance manga,” you tell him, clutching a pillow to your chest and letting your head hang off the side of the bed. “and you’d be just a detective and i’d be just me.”
he’s silent for a moment, taking in your words before he responds. “but i am a detective and you are you. where would this divulge from reality?”
“no one would die, because it’s a romance manga and it’s not that kind of story,” you say with a sigh. “the biggest mystery you’d be solving was how to ask me out and the only crime committed was how you’d stolen my heart—” he almost laughs at that part, “—and we could have a beach episode and montages of cute dates and a christmas special and—” you prattle on, excited merely over the prospect as you list off other fantasies.
ryuzaki listens as he works, used to this dreamy behavior from you (especially when you’re half asleep like this). your ramblings amuse him.
“i could take you to the beach,” he muses, eyes wandering in thought.
“hm?”
“watari owns several private islands,” he says, wheeling around in his chair to face you. “they’re used for different purposes, mostly as safe houses for emergencies. but i’m sure he wouldn’t mind us staying there on a long weekend.”
“are you being serious, ryuzaki?” you ask after a moment, clutching the edge of the mattress to keep yourself upright. your eyes are big and curious and hold a little ember of hope and giddiness.
“when am i not serious?” he mumbles in reply, clacking away on his keyboard but unable to hide a small smile.
you clap in delight, letting out a happy squeal. “oh my god! a private island retreat!”
“it’s nothing fancy,” he insists, turning back to his work, “so don’t go thinking this is some grand occasion.”
“ryuzaki, what about a private island isn’t fancy?!” you reply, clambering off the bed in a hurry. you whirl about the room, darting between the closet and nightstand and dresser. “i have to pack all my swimsuits and summer clothes and oh, my sandals! and my hats and sunglasses!”
“i didn’t say we were going now,” he chides, casting you an incredulous glance as he watches you flit about the room. your manic energy is endearing, if somewhat exasperating.
you straighten from where you’d been bent over the drawers, grinning and sweeping your hair from your eyes. “ah, you said a long weekend. there’s a holiday next week! if we leave in the next couple days, we can beat most of the travel congestion for the break.”
a small smile manages to overtake him at your spindle of logic. “so you’ve got it all worked out then?”
if you didn’t know any better, you’d think he was teasing you
“yes,” you reply indignantly, “now get watari on the phone and tell him i said ‘pretty please with a cherry on top’.”
he huffs with a soft laugh, shaking his head. you aren’t demanding of much, but once you have your sights set on something there’s no stopping you. “very well, my love. i’ll call watari, but that ‘cherry on top’ you mentioned will be for me, accompanied by a significant amount of cake.”
“deal,” you grin, shooing at him to make the call.

Catch Kira, NOT Feelings! Ch. 3
L x Fem!Reader
Previous Part | Ch. 4
Word Count: 7k (hehe)
Tags: slow burn, oblivious, colleagues to lovers?, jealous! L, mentions of arousal, Lawliet POV at end, phone sex?, male erection, masturbation [male receiving], mentioning of female anatomy, MDNI, 18+
Synopsis: You continue the meeting as planed and can't help but wonder how you feel about Ryuzaki. With a brief time skip and another meeting ending in an argument, L can't help the strange feeling that's growing in his chest... and in his pants ;)
Masterlist
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The meeting continues as planned, this time with Light in attendance, and the group discusses the remaining entries in the ‘Second Kira’s Notebook’. Avoiding Aoyama for the time being, Ryuzaki shifts the attention to the Tokyo Dome game mentioned within the page and proposes for Watari to cancel the event and let the police investigate.
You sit on the couch uncomfortably, unsure if it’s the strange feeling brewing in your chest from your encounter with Ryuzaki or simply a side effect of chasing down a mass murderer who might just be your friend. Light at your side, you keep your attention on the TV as best as you can given the circumstances.
“In this note we can see the Second Kira mentioning Shinigami at the Tokyo Dome…”
Mogi points to the note on the screen and the group nods in agreement, reviewing their own papers and documents for the upcoming events at the arena. Shifting slightly, you resolve to reach forward and grab one of the to-go coffee cups, deciding caffeine might be what you need at this moment.
“Here, let me–” Light leans forward before you can reach the table and picks up two sugar packets as well, “–you’ve had a long day of classes.”
You watch him for a moment before sighing, “So have you though..”
“I guess that’s true… Just let me do this, okay?”
Light laughs gently at how quickly you sit back and let him make your coffee; remembering the way you always drink it with two sugars. Deftly popping off the lid and pouring in the contents of the packets, Light lets steam emit from the cup before gently passing it to you.
“Careful, ok? Wouldn’t want our newest recruit getting out of the task force from some coffee burns.”
“Shut up..” you nudge Light gently enough to not spill the contents and lean down to whisper, “asshole” just out of earshot of his father.
Taking the cup and hovering your lips just above the paper rim, you blow the steam back a few times before taking a sip. Throughout the whole exchange Mogi and Matsuda have been conversing about the Tokyo Dome events schedule while Mr. Yagami and Aizawa discuss alerting the arena security and increasing the police presence in the area. Ryuzaki sits watching all three interactions taking place but his eyes linger on the way Light holds himself around you.
It makes rational sense, the both of you being well acquainted through years of working for his father, though the interaction leaves L shifting in his seat. The smile on Light’s face is natural, with creases in his eyes as he leans in to make another snarky remark in your ear; the simplicity of it all is what leaves such a sour taste he’s unable to recall in Ryuzaki’s mouth.
“Maybe now you won’t look half asleep during the meeting.”
You take a long sip of coffee and gently kick Light’s shin from next to you on the hotel couch, eyes narrowed at his hushed joke.
“I’m not tired.”
“Hmm? Then why do you look like that?”
Like what?
You move the cup from your lips and shiver as the warm beverage slides down your throat, eyebrows furrowed at Light in confusion before your gaze locks onto Ryuzaki’s. It’s a short connection before you break away feeling as ice had been dumped down your back; from the corner of your eyes you can tell he’s been staring and will continue to.
“Let’s focus, ok?”
Mr. Yagami stands and pats Mogi’s shoulder, taking control of the remote and now playing the entire diary’s image once more.
“This,” he points to the Tokyo Dome phrase once more. “A shinigami? I believe this may be an important reference we cannot overlook. It’s obviously an omen regarding death.. But can we be certain Tokyo Dome is the target for this? Both districts of Aoyama and Shibuya were mentioned in this..”
The group looks amongst themselves and you turn back to L, watching as he bites the edge of a hangnail on his index finger in thought. Aoyama and the notebooks weren’t supposed to be mentioned for the time being, not until Ryuzaki had deemed it absolutely necessary to inform the rest of the task force of the plan.
“For now, yes.” L sits forward and now reaches for a small plate covered in bite-sized fruit tarts “Watari, send a message to the head of the arena’s security to inform them of a potential terrorist attack.”
Light sits up from the sofa and turns to the man “Shouldn’t we be investigating all of these claims, Ryuzaki? I agree the Tokyo Dome one is important, but it’s way too obvious… we can’t miss this opportunity to catch the Second Kira.”
His tone is chill and sobering, and you lock eyes with L once more to confirm you were going to keep silent for the time being.
“I agree. If we let the Second Kira slip through our fingers and decimate an entire district it would be catastrophic.” Ryuzaki sits back and looks at the entire group, scanning each face. “We’re going to publish this diary on Sakura TV.”
“What?” Mr. Yagami steps forward with an incredulous shock on his face, “If we publish this, people will react with pandemonium. They’ll live with fear!”
“No– it’s to give each of the local police departments enough time to increase their presence in their respective neighborhoods. Not to mention, give us enough liability to install additional measures.”
Aizawa stares at L in suspicion. “Additional measures? What do you mean?”
“We can’t install additional CCTV without approval and reasonable suspicion of a threat,” L says, pointing to the television with a crumby index finger. “This is more than enough to justify that. No?”
Matsuda ‘wows’ in awe at the reasoning while Light remains motionless on the couch thinking everything through. His demeanor is cold and isolated, radiating an energy that makes you subconsciously lean into Mogi who is sitting on the other side of you on the couch.
“That’s going to take a lot of manpower, Ryuzaki. Are we equipped to do all of that in such a short time?”
“We don’t have a choice,” you chime in, placing the coffee cup on the table. “If you’d like, I can try and reach out to some old internship colleagues working in Shibuya. Try and see if any additional detectives and officers can cover districts we find more at threat?”
Mogi nods and begins mentally reviewing the list of people he knows who could also cover any gaps. “I agree. The faster we act on this, the better chance we have of catching them.”
The group nods in agreement and breaks off into smaller teams in charge of alerting local police, contacting Sakura TV to run the diary, and relaying information back to the NPA about the current plan. Mr. Yagami steps out to a connecting room to make a few phone calls while Matsuda assists Mogi in creating a copy of the diary to send to the station.
“Shouldn’t we send someone to investigate these ourselves?”
Light walks to where you and Ryuzaki have sorted all possible events at the Tokyo Dome, Aoyama, and Shibuya on the respective dates mentioned. You turn to L as do the other members, silently wondering the same thing.
“Yes, I plan on asking one or two of you to go out and attend one of these events listed…” He continues, looking steadfast at Light, “I haven’t made up my mind quite yet though. Let’s work on the current task for the time being.”
Light seems relatively unhappy with the response but doesn't push further; he walks back over to Aizawa and assists in drafting messages to different police quarters. You watch him work for a moment before turning back to Ryuzaki who continues sorting event paperwork next to you.
The proximity is nearly as close as you both were earlier in the evening, and there’s a slight tremble in your fingers at the increased heart rate in your ribs. He deftly moves and sorts papers back and forth with you, occasionally skimming your fingers with his own; the action is enough to make your ears hot.
This is ridiculous. I need to get out this weekend, have a drink, or something. He’s just L… he’s just a guy.
“I’m going to need you to keep quiet for a bit longer if that’s ok.”
“Hmm? Oh, of course.”
Continuing to work as naturally as possible, your voices are barely above a whisper to avoid unnecessary attention. The fresh scent of his laundry detergent invades your senses and is so intoxicating you nearly lean in closer to get a larger inhale.
Despite being able to work seamlessly with Light, working alongside Ryuzaki isn’t nearly as difficult as people had always alluded to. At nearly every NPA meeting and early police briefings in the Kira case, every detective you worked with scoffed at his name. ‘Unable to work with others’, ‘selfish and conceited’, ‘coldhearted and stoic’ were used more times than you can remember in regard to the man at your side.
“Here, these may need to be corroborated with the Second Kira’s tapes for syntax.” Ryuzaki gently offers you a section from the diary and transcript from the tapes. “Are you able to complete that within a few days? Or is your course schedule going to get in the way…?”
“No, I can complete it.”
You take the evidence and organize it into a pile, admiring the man just inches away from you. Not an ounce of condescenion in his voice, he gives you tasks that genuinely need to be completed and he’s decided to trust you with; taking into account your class schedule, each assignment is neither tedious nor grueling.
This is nothing like the stories you had heard, and it’s enough to make you wonder if maybe those overworked detectives at previous meetings had been complaining about someone else. The L at your side is meticulous and competitive, but the way his eyes linger on your lips when waiting for confirmation is gentle and patient.
“I’ll try and have it done in about two days. Is that ok Ryuzaki?”
“Yes,” he says, peeling his eyes up from your lips and blinking a few times before turning his attention to the documents in his own hands. “Yes, that should be perfect.”
*******
Two weeks go by seamlessly and you fall into an easy routine between classes and Kira meetings. During lunch breaks, about twice a week, you meet with Light to discuss not only topics regarding the case, but also regular life as students and 20-something-year-olds. It’s as simple as you remember it being when you first started working with his father. The settings are friendly and casual, though less intimate and honest as you remember them being; taking note every time he begins to change his behavior and what exactly was the topic that seemed to be the trigger.
Working with L has also gotten much easier over the days; Watari picks you up prior to the meeting nearly every day and Ryuzaki has memorized your schedule to call as soon as your seminar finishes to inquire about updates. You report nearly every move, answering when you’ve left home and returned, along with giving him updates on how your paperwork and investigation of Light have been progressing.
On days when classes end early and you’re at home for lunch, you find yourself stopping by the bakery near your apartment and picking up a dozen earl gray cookies on the way to meetings; remembering the way Ryuzaki seems to perk up when he sees the familiar packaging.
It almost feels inappropriate how casual you both have begun to talk to each other; frequent texting that begins to stray just a bit further than completely work related, though they never become too personal. The texts and phone calls that vibrate from the phone L had given you come everyday like clockwork, even on the days where you weren’t scheduled to meet with Light.
The routine this Tuesday afternoon is the same as the past two weeks have been: calling Ryuzaki after your evening class has ended and casually relaying a brief update if you had bumped into Light. The wind is cooler today than it has been in months; gripping your jacket tighter, you balance the cardboard wrapping of the biscuits with one finger as you huddle into yourself for warmth.
Cars pass by in varying directions as you nod to the steady beat of music playing in your headphones, waiting at the intersection for the familiar black Mercedes to pull up. The leather briefcase slung over your shoulder makes an uncomfortable weight push into the muscle, but the feeling is numbed by another gust of wind and hair being pushed into your face.
Before you can adjust the flyaways, a familiar car turns at the intersection and flicks on it’s fourway signals before pulling right up to where you stand. The window cracks. “Y/N, I’m here to escort you to headquarters.”
You giggle at the same line Watari always repeats and slide off your headphones before opening the passenger door and sliding inside. The seat warmers already on, you gently place the box of cookies on the console and sling the heavy bag off your shoulder and onto the floor at your feet.
“More cookies Y/N? You’re going to have a sweet tooth as large as Ryuzaki.”
“Nah,” you giggle and look out the window at the city lights that have flickered on being to blur by. “I don’t anyone could tie him for that.”
******
“I’m just saying if Sakura TV wants to air that ‘pro-kira’ talk show, they should at least–” Matsuda stands with his arms out to Mogi as if his companion were the one he needed to convince to get his opinion delivered, before turning to you. “Oh– Y/N!”
You slide your bag at your unspoken offical spot next to the sofa and place the small box of cookies on the table before shimmying out of your coat and smiling at the man. Watari helps you glide it off your other arm before retrieving a hanger and placing it in the small coat closet next to the door as you greet everyone in the room.
Ryuzaki is already sitting in his usual spot and watches you intently as you make your rounds before plopping onto the couch in between Mogi and Light; his gaze lingers on the small box of tea-flavor cookies.
“Did you ever take ‘Intro to Criminal Psyche’ in undergrad?”
You turn to Light and raise an eyebrow. “Yea, why?”
“Mmm, I’ve been thinking of missing a few classes to work on the task force assignments a bit more. If you have the notes from when you took it, I’m sure that would suffice to replace the material I miss.”
You laugh and nudge him, “Wow, ditching class? The number-one student I know has a rebellious side to him after all.”
Light laughs, though the sound is partially empty of genuine humor. “Of course~, though if it makes you uncomfortable, I’ll just have to actually attend.”
“Let me check my files,” you said, looking over at his dad, who is shaking his head with a sigh from the conversation, “If I still have them saved, you’re more than welcome.”
The moment Light puts his hand on your shoulder in gratitude, the unfamiliar ugly feeling inside Ryuzaki’s gut begins to grow again. His chest is tight with a frustration he couldn’t quite pinpoint, as if the scene in front of him was wrong; similar to a movie spinoff of a book that wasn’t following the plot correctly.
Ryuzaki takes a breath, it doesn’t bother him, it shouldn’t bother him, before turning to the now total members present at the meeting. “Alright, now that Y/N is here, we can continue.”
The group quiets down and Aizawa stands up, holding a variety of documents and reading through them in summary. “Well the DNA procurement is experiencing some delays; with nearly every available agent and officer dispatched to the Second Kira diary locations, the lab is running on a time lag.”
You hum and turn to Watari to take a coffee from the tray he brings around, not bothering to reach for sugar as he’s been preparing it to the exact sweetness you prefer for nearly two weeks now.
“There’s also the issue of Shibuya and Aoyama.” Aizawa flips through to another page and sighs, “We’ve been able to dispatch any colleagues Y/N knows around the Shibuya main entry points, but Aoyama is still more understaffed than I think it should be.”
“Even if we agreed Tokyo Dome was the priority?” Matsuda questions.
“Mr. Yagami, have all the CCTV we’ve requested been installed within the district's limits already?”
Mr. Yagami turns to Ryuzaki and scans through a few documents before nodding, “Yes, they’ve been successfully placed in all the main access points and intersections you’ve requested. Local police also confirm increased presence there on the days leading up to and following our recommendation.”
You turn to Ryuzaki and wonder the same question everyone has been considering for the past few weeks: who was he going to choose to send? Keeping quiet over the past two weeks wasn’t exactly easy, nearly every meeting contained Light protesting the decision to focus too heavily on the Tokyo Dome and pushing back even more when L refused to further explain his decision.
Ryuzaki takes a long moment to consider, idly placing sugar cube after sugar cube into his tea cup and not bothering to look up. A gentle breeze from the open windows pushes his hair to tickle his cheekbones and you instinctively shiver at the drop in temperature. Opening the window for fresh air was a common recurrence, but you couldn’t help but tense at the chill air that always nipped at your skin. Before Light can glance over and offer you his jacket, Watari walks over to the hotel linen closet to retrieve a throw blanket and passes it to you.
Additional stocked bedding wasn’t unusual considering the amount of times members have spent the night in the suite, but the smaller plush throw blankets that seemed to perfectly warm you back up seemed to appear only about a week ago.
“I’ve made a decision on who I want to attend Aoyama, and I want it known that if either party feels too uncomfortable, we can renegotiate.”
You lean in, similar to the rest of the members and hang on to every word. “Light, I’d like you to walk the streets of Aoyama on the date we’ve previously decided. Matsuda, please accompany him.”
What?
You stay frozen in confusion at Ryuzaki’s announcement while Mr. Yagami immediately stands up in protest.
“I’m not sending my son to the front lines! First you accuse him of being Kira and now you want him to be killed by the Second one?”
“Dad–!” Light stands up to argue with his father, “You don’t get to make that decision for me.”
I’m not going?
You look up to look at Ryuzaki who was glancing over at the two men arguing and making no effort to make eye contact with you. He sips his tea and stares indifferently at the spectacle in front of him, occasionally reaching down to grab a cookie you brought.
Despite working with him on the Aoyama plan during meeting breaks in secret, confirming through texts that Light was still unaware of said plan, and even staying later nights to work out any kinks…. he didn’t pick you.
A pang of hurt and nearly anger washes over you as the decision sinks in. The two men arguing over the coffee table now a million worlds away, an ugly feeling tightens in your chest. Had you not proven you were skilled enough to take on a challenge like this? Was all he saw in you was an errand-girl who could watch Light on campus so he didn’t have to?
You look up at Matsuda who was now trying to calm down the chief, and furrow your eyebrows into a sharp ‘V’ formation. No, even the role of babysitting Light was forfeited from you. It’s impossible to focus and the atmosphere is nearly suffocating as jealousy courses hot through your veins.
“Alright, I’d like to further explain the plan before you two go any further,” says Ryuzaki, standing up and placing one foot on the coffee table for balance to grab the remote and flip to the details of Aoyama.
“The diary entry in this event mentions meeting with friends on the streets of Aoyama, a needle in a haystack considering the population density.” He tilts his head to side and continues flipping. “However, there’s a strong chance it’ll come down to just two people: Kira and the Second Kira. At least one of which, we will assume is student age; high school or higher education.”
“So this is another example of accusing Light? Because he fits the age group demographic?”
“Mr. Yagami, please hold all your questions until I’ve finished.”
Ryuzaki takes a metal teaspoon between his lips while he talks, “Aoyama is a wealthy neighborhood and a fashion hotspot, most likely a place to be recommended by a young woman. Please keep this in mind while observing pairs of people.”
Still annoyed by the plan you helped decide on, you can’t help but notice the strange thin smile on Light’s lips as he watches the presentation unfold. Despite his father trying his hardest to prove his innocence, Light doesn’t seem the least bit stressed by the accusation; he’s nearly humming with excitement while you sulk on the sofa.
“Alright Light! Just you and me doing some fieldwork, sounds like it’ll be fun!”
Aizawa smacks Matsuda on the side of the head. “This isn’t a field trip to go shopping and eat at cafes! Both you and Light are placing your lives on the line.”
Matsuda deflates back onto the mirroring couch in defeat while Mr. Yagami remains staring between his son and Ryuzaki.
“Are you sure about this? Light– I don't want him to make you look more guilty when you’re not.”
“Then let me go! If I can find the Second Kira– it’ll only help me clear my name.”
Light’s tone is demanding despite pleading with his father for approval in attending the mission. Even while slightly pissed off, you recognize it to be the same uncomfortable aura from your first lunch ‘date’ a few weeks ago.
No notebooks…?
Remembering the aspect of ‘notebooks’ being an important aspect of revealing the Second Kira, you turn to Ryuzaki who has now finally returned eye contact. Scrunching your brows in confusion at his lack of complete clarity, L gives a short nod ‘no’ before returning his attention back to the father-son duo.
“Is this plan alright with everyone? Anyone not going to Aoyama will have different monitoring tasks during these events so please ensure your availability.”
Mogi and Aizawa nod as Mr. Yagami sits back down in defeat and Light gives a solid statement of his own approval. Matsuda hums in excitement across from you and you sit on the couch with arms crossed and scowling into the space of the corner of the room.
“Alright then, let’s continue with some specifics for how this will all play out.”
*********
A sour taste remains in your mouth for the rest of the meeting as you listen to the plan you helped come up with be delegated to other members. Aizawa and you will be in charge of monitoring CCTV at the headquarters alongside Ryuzaki while Mogi and Mr. Yagami are on standby duty at Sakura TV in case of a break through.
At the usual late hour, the meeting is concluded and you take your time packing up your things as members slowly trickle home. Matsuda stretches and holds the door open for the Yagamis before exiting and leaving you in the room with L and Watari.
“Ryuzaki… can I speak with you?”
L looks up from handing Watari his empty teacup and nods once, “I assumed you wanted to speak, you usually pack up much quicker most evenings.”
Any other time the comment might’ve made your heart rate pick up at his attentiveness to your habits, but this time your heart remains heavy in your chest. Following him into the bedroom as usual, when the door clicks shut the only thing you can do is stand awkwardly in silence.
Hands wet with sweat, you tug at the straps of your briefcase bag and wondering where to even begin.
“Something is bothering you. I can tell.”
Ryuzaki leans against the side of the bedframe casually and stares at your face patiently, showing no signs of fatigue despite the late hour.
You sigh once and take a step forward. “Why didn’t you choose me for Aoyama?”
L watches you for an additional second and closes his eyes for a moment. “I figured that's what you were gonna ask.”
“So… why didn’t you?”
Ryuzaki shrugs and looks off to the messy desk at the side of the room, twitching once as the analog clock on the wall ticks away in the deafening silence.
“I figured Light and Matsuda were the best for the task. That’s it.”
That’s it?
You grip your bag tighter, sinking your nails into the leather, and can feel the anger from earlier beginning to seep out, “What do you mean? Haven’t I worked hard to prove you can trust me? That I would be great for this position?”
“Of course I trust you, but that has nothing to do with this.”
You furrow your brows, growing impatient as he speaks to you as if it were obvious. “What do you mean? I’ve been helping you come up with this plan and been watching Light this whole time… so why is it different?”
“Did you feel entitled to it? Is that why you’re upset?”
You wince and take a step back, embarrassment mixing into the defensive that began building.
Ryuzaki watches your expression and continues, “Matsuda will do just fine watching Light, I’ve already spoken to him privately about it. The other members on this task force are accomplished and determined. Just because you’ve been a great help in conducting this plan doesn’t mean you’re the best person to execute it.”
Your throat feels tight as his words, and humiliation begins to sink in as he speaks.
Of course, other members are veterans at this and you’re still under the position of an ‘intern’ for Mr. Yagami. It’s fucking embarrassing how worked up I’ve become…
“You could’ve let me know ahead of time…when we were planning this earlier…”
Ryuzaki turns back to you, an awkward feeling forming in chest at seeing your dejected face turn away from him.
“Maybe it’s foolish that I was already planning on going but–”
“-- you would’ve thrown the same fit you threw earlier. Announcement of my decision doesn’t mean anything.”
The words are harsh. Harsher than Ryuzaki means for them to come out as he internally struggles with this uncomfortable feeling and he regrets it the moment they leave his lips. Your eyebrows furrowed in a mixture of anger, rejection, and embarrassment; the way you scoff hurts him deeply considering the array of ugly emotions are directed at him.
“Right. Whatever..” you spin on your heel and open the door to finish the conversation. “Thanks for the clarification.”
The words are spit with venom through gritted teeth and you don’t bother turning around to say goodbye. Watari watches the anger seethe off you and makes no effort to create conversation as he follows you out the hotel door and down the lobby to the parking lot.
If you weren’t getting chauffeured by Ryuzaki’s right hand man, hot angry tears would have escaped your eyes, an aggravated scream would leave your lips, and a few punches to an empty car seat cushion may have taken place.
As the car pulls out of the lot, you look out the glass and notice the silhouette of Ryuzaki peering from behind the hotel window curtain before you turn your head the other way. Watari makes no effort to speak and doesn’t protest when you dig your headphones out of your bag and blast music in your ears.
**************
4am - 4 hours after the meeting ended.
Ryuzaki POV
He should’ve worded that differently. He knows, she knows, Watari even knows it judging on the somber and judgmental look he shot Ryuzaki after returning from dropping you home. It’s not like he wanted to come off as an asshole, he usually did to most people, but the fact he came off that way to you was what made this guilt so uncomfortable in his gut.
Ryuzaki lets out a long sigh and leans back in the office chair at the desk in the hotel bedroom, not bothering to sleep. One more shade of purple under his eyes won’t be noticed and L takes this moment to bite at his cuticles in thought.
Why hadn’t he just given you the task for Aoyama?
You had proved yourself more useful than half the people he’s had the displeasure of working with. Patient with his awkward attitude, intelligent with great deductive skills, loyal to his recommendation despite making you observe your ‘friend’ for signs of being Kira, and absolutely beauti-
Ryuzaki snaps his head to the side and rejects the thought before it forms. On a professional level it should’ve been you. You’ve already done so much to help in the Aoyama plan, more so than he could casually give you praise for, and your ability to follow Light and intuition with his behavior made you the perfect candidate. So why didn’t he?
L stands up from the desk and begins to walk aimlessly around his room in the moonlight that seeped in from the windows. Instead of giving you the chance to apply yourself and excel with a perfect opportunity, he has you scheduled to sit in a dark room with him and another colleague watching CCTV for hours on end.
The nasty and ugly part of him was glad when he had made that decision, keeping you away from the front line despite going to school with his number one suspect— this time you could be far away from Light. Safe… with him. Why did he even want that?
Ryuzaki sits on the edge of his hotel bed and shakes his head before looking around the room for a plate of desserts that might be lingering. Of course he knew why he didn’t personally want you prancing the streets of Aoyama with Light. The fact it meant you would be at risk of being killed by the Second Kira, who may not need a name to murder, OR the fact it meant you would be spending the whole day walking around cute cafes and boutiques with Light while Ryuzaki was forced to watch it all on CCTV in multiple angles for multiple hours. He wasn’t sure which option was worse.
Pushing those thoughts back down again, completely inappropriate given the situation, he pulls out his cell phone and runs his fingers down the sides in thought. He should apologize. He knows it, and he also knows you would pretend to be fine during the meeting tomorrow despite actually being pissed off at him. Rightfully so.
Letting out a sigh of defeat, Ryuzaki powers it on and open up your contact and waiting a beat before clicking the dial button and leaning further onto the edge of the bed.
He’s not sure you’re even going to answer until the line rings for a fourth time and a half asleep “huhhh?” rings out from the other end.
Ryuzaki pauses immediately at the tone, not quite a groan but a light and airy moan escapes your lips into the receiver at your sleepy state. L stands motionless at the tone and immediately begins to regret calling at this late hour when his body begins to react against every logical will his brain offers.
“Hello?”
Shit. He realizes he’s taking too long to answer and resolves to issuing a short apology.
“Y/N? It’s L... I’m sorry to wake you.”
“Ohhhh Ryuzakiii”
L swallows hard at the airy tone you use, knowing you have no idea what you actually sound like considering it’s nearly 4:30 in the morning. His breath is labored as he clenches the phone in his hand, nearly forgetting the whole reason he was calling anyways.
“Yes, I’d like to apologize for my words earlier this evening. Though we can discuss this.. Tomorrow.”
“Hmm” There’s the sound of you shuffling on the other end before you continue and yawn in between every other word, “Ohhhh please don’t be mad.. I didn’t.. Mean to be.. A bitch…please– Ryuzaki”
Fuck. FUCK.
Even the sound of his fake name leaving your lips in that tone was enough to make him wince at the familiar feeling growing in his jeans. He needed to end this call. Now.
“No, I’m not mad. Please get some sleep and I apologize again… for calling this late.”
Ryuzaki ends the call and throws the phone on the bed as if the metal had been burning his hand the entire time.
This feeling was wrong, so. Fucking. Wrong.
He doesn’t need to look down to know what’s happening, being a young man in 20s he’s quite familiar with the feeling, but he peers down anyway. The fabric around the fly of his baggy jeans was uncomfortably tight and his cock pushed against the confines of his boxers and denim, throbbing slightly in arousal.
Ryuzaki lets out a shaky breath and thinks a million different thoughts at once, a majority of them full of self loathing and frustration. He was your boss for fuck’s sake. You both had admitted your trust in one another and he would hate himself for the rest of his life if you thought the only reason he kept you around was to sexually gratify him.
He had been around countless female agents and detectives who had been bullied or pulled out of the workforce because of menial relationships. Even Naomi had left the FBI upon getting married. If you ever found out that he was hard at just the sound of your sleepy and disheveled voice, you would probably be disgusted and offended and leave the task force; the very prospect of that being the last thing he wants considering your talent.
A wince escapes his lips when his cock throbs at the image of you now present in his head, and every rational brain cell within his skull is screaming at him to change his thoughts and let himself get soft. But he can’t. Not with the way your lips, coated in that honey flavored chapstick, or maybe lip gloss, you always apply, is painted clearly in his head. The way those very same lips would look around the base of his co-
NO.
Ryuzaki grips the comforter beneath him and folds into himself slightly as his erection painfully begs for some sort of friction to satisfy it. ‘It’s an abuse of a position of power’ is what the world famous detective portion of his brain is saying, while the 20-something-year-old portion of his brain is remembering what the swell of your ass looks like when you bend over the couch armrest to pick up fallen documents.
Shit…
He can feel all logical rationale seeping out of him when twitching fingers move to undo the button of his jeans and let down the zipper of his fly to just apply a little relief. Realistically, you might be interested too.
The thought makes Ryuzaki bite his lip in disgust while his hands betray his brain and move to shimmy the fabric of his jeans to his mid thigh and let his erection stand up in his boxers. The constant replies to all his messages, working late evenings with him, and brushing fingertips more times than a casual explanation could allow, even bringing him those delicious cookies when you realized how much he liked them.
You never did that for Light.
“Shit..”
Ryuzaki sighs in a partially drunk state while he stares at the patch of pre cum seeping through the flimsy fabric of his boxers, his cock aching for relief. The image of you with Light feeds the ugly part of him he didn’t even know had existed; despite knowing you for around a month, the idea of you being close with Light brings an unexplainable frustration to his mind.
While being able to imagine Light’s smug face is nearly enough to soften his erection, the sound of your voice airily moaning his fake name comes to mind once more, and the idea of what it would sound like to hear you say ‘Lawliet’ in that same tone, makes his cock ache even more than he thought possible.
Ryuzaki’s had erections before during your time at the task force, ones that occurred when he happened to fall sleep and woke up with some light morning wood. But this was different. Fingertips pinching the elastic of his waistband, he tugs the fabric down to join his jeans at his mid thigh; a wince escapes his lips at the change in temperature on his dick.
A slight happy trail going down his navel that extended into a full bush from lack of need to trim for anybody, his cock hovers upright with the angry dark pink tip leaking pre-cum profusely. This wasn’t a casual boner he was popping, it was an ugly carnal desire L had written off from having due to his career and work life. Yet sitting on the edge of the bed, all rationale finally seeps out of him.
It must due to be the lack of blood flow to his brain that makes Ryuzaki bring his palm to his mouth to spit into the flesh a few times before coating his shaft in a mix of pre-cum and saliva. The sensation causes a slight groan to escape and his eyebrows to furrow in focus as he spends an extra second massaging the tip.
Giving a few extra pumps to warm up, he begins to slide his hand up and down the shaft with just the amount of tension he likes. The feeling pairs nicely with the image of you in his head, would you jerk him off like this? Or would you want to put those pretty lips to use on his cock while your hands worked on his shaft?
Balls tightening at the mere image, his hips jerk forward into his hand as his body betrayed his brain and grew hornier at the thoughts. What color bra did you always wear? A week ago you accidentally wore a pretty light blue one under your white shirt… did you know he could see it? What did your tits look like when you take it off?
“Nngh… oh f-fuck..”
L swallows thickly and quickens the pace before using his other hand to lift his shirt so he could lean over and spit on his cock once more before taking the fabric in his teeth. His fingers massage the tip before tugging on the skin of his shaft and applying pressure to the enlarged vein that ran on the underside of cock, causing a few groans to leave his mouth.
And what if you did want him back? Would you let him sit under your pretty pussy while you rode his face? Let him eat you out like he had been thinking about… if you tasted even sweeter than he was imagining.
Hips shuddering and balls aching with a heavy feeling, that recognizable coil begins to grow in his abdomen as he increases the speed. Sweat dripping down his brow, he nearly coughs when the image of you letting him fuck you crosses his vision.
Splayed out all pretty and moaning his name. His real name. Or maybe riding him in this very bed while he sucks bruises only he will be able to see onto those perfect pretty tits of yours.
“Fuck.. Y/N… gonna..”
He increases the speed of his hand and can see the image now in a thousand different ways. Him cumming in your mouth, on your face, on your tits, in your hand, in your cunt and then watching it leak out…
FUCK
Ryuzaki tugs a few extra times and exhales sharply when hot ropes of semen begin to pour down his hand and even escape on the carpet below. Rubbing his cock through his orgasm, he lays back on the bed with an exasperating feeling as he catches his breath.
Hot cum on his hand, thighs, and now floor, the post-nut clarity is a disgusting feeling that washes over him. All the images and ways he’s tried so damn hard not to see you in, make him feel no better than a dog with no respect when that’s all you’ve shown him.
Of course it’s more than your body that L is attracted to, but the physical and creepy nature of masturbating to you makes him shiver uncomfortably as a line that shouldn’t have been crossed now has. With one more sigh and mentally shelving the images his brain had conjured up, Ryuzaki sits up and reaches for a couple of tissues on the nightstand.
Sopping up all the remnant cum on his hands, thighs, and carpet, he tosses the tissues into the trash and tucks himself back into his boxers and jeans.
Tomorrow…
Ryuzaki doesn’t want to even begin to consider how he would face you tomorrow, so he decides not to think about it. It was a one time thing, and now that it’s out of his system he should be free from the hypnotic spell you seem to have placed him under. With a sigh, he decides to head into the ensuite bathroom to wash away the physical evidence of his perverted actions and clear his head before facing you in yet another meeting tomorrow. One where you would be fully awake, and he could properly apologize.
part 3 is doneeee
ty so much for your patience with this series! holidays and exams are crazy but im so excited to keep writing this (hehe more nsfw to come, but defrosting methodical L into a horny pining man takes some time)
🕸~ hello, everyone! im back again with death note headcanons because i haven’t written for it in a little while. again, sorry for my absence for the past few weeks :/
fluff ahead, fem!reader
𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐲 𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐭𝐚𝐤𝐞 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐲𝐨𝐮 <𝟑
ft. light, ryuzaki, misa, mello, near, matt
𝐥𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐚𝐠𝐚𝐦𝐢
light is very poetic when it comes to taking photos with you. he doesn’t want them to just be any old thing because he values you so much, so he really only takes pictures with you when he thinks it’s a special moment. light doesn’t like to take selfie type pictures often, so don’t expect a lot of that. he captures moments with you on camera rarely in order to preserve the romantic feeling. he thinks just snapping pictures whenever doesn’t mean anything.
𝐥 𝐥𝐚𝐰𝐥𝐢𝐞𝐭
you didn’t peg him as the type to match outfits and do all that other corny stuff, but you were definitely wrong- ryuzaki lives for matching with you! he swears he just likes seeing how happy you look when he agrees to match with you or how good you look in the cute outfits you pick out, but he definitely finds pleasure in it too. especially the hello kitty stuff for no reason. don’t @ me.
𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐨
the photos above are pretty self-explanatory, but mello just really enjoys flexing his hot gangster girlfriend to all his lackeys. he lets them look at you all they want, but he makes it very clear that you’re his and his only by snapping photos with you two both armed or, for example, standing in front of wreckage mello definitely caused himself. mello also has no shame in taking raunchy pictures of you two, either… ;)
𝐦𝐚𝐭𝐭
matt is worse than mello when it comes to risqué photos- he definitely pushes the boundaries between just regular cute couple photos and borderline porn. he’s also someone who’s more on the carefree, fun side though, so often he’ll just randomly snap a selfie of you two doing something fairly casual, like smoking just because he feels like it. you’ll notice that matt doesn’t really take pictures of you guys just chilling at home or whatever though- as indicated by the above pics, most of you guys’ photos are of you drinking, smoking, or riding his motorcycle at beyond illegal speeds. still, all his pictures of you and him have a cool vhs vibe to them, so besides the fact that the pictures he takes are probably on several different wanted posters, they’re pretty cool ig..😰👍🏾
𝐧𝐞𝐚𝐫
near isn’t terribly fond of showing his face in photos, so these are probably what most of your couple pics look like. still, it’s very tender, and he still manages to capture his affection for you despite concealing both of your faces. unlike the two previous guys, near definitely isn’t the raunchy photo type- he would definitely rather keep those moments private. like light, though, he doesn’t take pictures often so that when he does take them, they’re more special. on the up side though, near posts you on his very inactive social media accounts- you’re literally the only thing up there.
chemical imbalance
L x gn! reader | fluff
a/n: i want to cause a chemical imbalance in his brain so badly
“it seems like you have caused a chemical imbalance within my body.”
your head whipped towards L at his random outburst. it wasn’t unusual for the man to ignore social cues, or be wholly inept and unaware of the clues at all, but this sentence felt different.
“ryuzaki, what,” you questioned, putting down some files regarding the third kira, “is this your way of saying you suspect me of being the second kira again? we have already proven misa was the second kira.”
if this were another accusation, you would probably rip your hair out of frustration. you suspected light of being the first kira - more like knew he was after he randomly gained misa amane as a “girlfriend.” understandably, your connection to light made the notorious L wary of you being the second kira - the idea of childhood friends sticking together wasn’t one he could rule out. thankfully, misa’s sudden appearance cleared your name - though, the detective wanted you to stay with the task force for the time being to prove you had zero relation to the case. L also valued the fact that you could push your emotions aside and try to help solve the case, something he grew to appreciate more when soichiro finally accepted your word against light’s and viewed his son as a possibility.
“frankly speaking, the likelihood of you being kira at some point in time will never be completely zero,” L calmly stated, his teeth barely brushing against his calloused thumb, “however, this is not directly about the kira case.”
“oh?”
you couldn’t help but tilt your head slightly, wondering what he meant. it wasn’t unheard of for you to be stumped by the man deemed the world’s greatest detective (the world’s top three greatest detectives apparently) but something told you this was different. to be honest, you didn’t even think he had the capacity or desire to think about anything beyond the kira case. he spent dollar after dollar, risked life and limb, and even resorted to morally grey techniques to get this far…the idea of him focused on anything else seemed absurd.
“my ventral tegmental area started producing dopamine around you.”
“uhm,” you hummed aloud, “am i supposed to understand what you mean?”
the detective only let his shoulders sag even more, seemingly annoyed he had to explain to you further. L greatly understood that there was a price for everything but he couldn’t help but feel aggravated at times when he had to explain himself. it was an easy deduction in his mind, one so simple that an explanation shouldn’t be needed. there was also a nagging in his mind that was not from intellectual superiority. a nagging that felt like he shouldn’t explain himself for fear of actually being understood. logically, it made sense for him to want to fault you for the feelings that have risen inside of him but his heart was suddenly trying to sway the detective’s reasoning. human emotions are such fickle things, always hindering the logical capabilities of the species is capable of.
sentience lies within emotions. that is what made humans scientifically the better species, as many researchers like to argue, but L felt as if it was the opposite. his owlish eyes only glinted in them when he knew he has won a game, his childish nature only appearing at times when others would deem it insignificant. L did not need emotions to hinder him. he saw the way soichiro looked over at his son with loving eyes and a strong sense of familial connection, completely ignoring the fact that his son is a likely candidate for the world’s most wanted. L did not want to be blinded by emotion, but it was not in his nature to go down feebly.
“dopamine plays a huge role in addiction miss y/n. it jumps from each of our neurons and builds a pathway for the stimuli to take over our whole brain. then the nucleus accumbens increases the production of dopamine. this causes the adrenal gland to become active which manufactures adrenaline and norepinephrine; our flight or fight response is now present - though i suppose it is now flight, fight, freeze, fawn, or submit. do you understand where i am leading,” L tilted his head, his owlishly dark eyes gazing straight at yours.
you honestly understood maybe seventy-five percent of what he said at most. you would look around the room to get help from others — a common occurrence as no one could keep up with the eccentric detective — but it was just you and L present at the moment. typically, these small moments between the two of you were interrupted by a discovery or watari bringing snacks to help the both of you focus. you liked the idea of the aloof man beside you speaking and interacting like normal, as normal as he can get, but you were beginning to feel a little frustrated by his statements. for one, they made you feel incredibly stupid as you couldn’t process the words he was saying at the speed at which he did. secondly, you were close to finding a link to the third kira but that was now lost in your mind as the detective managed to garner all your attention. and lastly, you were irritated by how pretty he seemed to be with the blue light from the screens radiating off his ghostly pale skin. the man who, although justified, is aiming to put her best friend behind bars. the man who uses moral grey but legal techniques to gain victory. the man who probably saw her as a pawn, maybe even a bishop if she was lucky, in this chess match constructed by him and light… the man who was beside you. this wasn’t a place for emotions but would you be human if you didn’t seem to show immense sentience at the worst times?
“ryuzaki, please speak japanese or even english - just not whatever this is,” you sighed exasperatedly.
L moved his thumb from his bottom lip and let out a small sigh, “you are clouding my judgment. when you are around, my frontal lobe doesn’t seem to be occupying at full capacity even when i sit the way i do. my amygdala seems broken; the idea of you being kira in any sense seems to be statistically plausible yet i cannot fathom it. you are hindering my detective work and my capabilities - though, i do not anticipate it as purposeful which is more frustrating. i think it would be safe to assume i have feelings for you.”
“romantic feelings ryuzaki? or platonic? no offense,” you started, seeing his eyes analyze your every move, “but you don’t seem like the type to be able to tell the difference.”
“if it was strictly platonic, my frontal lobe and amygdala would not be as hindered. it seems more plausible to me that these feelings are romantic.”
you could only stare at him, unaware of the heat rising to your face and your hands playing with themselves. you both knew this was not the time to build strong emotional attachments to one another but who were you at your core if not someone who yearned for affection?
“based on your reaction, i assume you feel the same way…or at least aren’t appalled by the idea,” L turned back towards the screen, a ghost of a smile on his lips, “we do not have to do anything about this at the moment, I rather have us both be safe from kira before we try to progress or discuss anything between us.”
you simply nodded before looking back at the files on the yotsuba group, pretending to focus as you try to gaze at the detective from the corner of your eyes. this wasn’t the time for romance but you both would try and make the time available as soon as possible. however, for now, you two would enjoy the comfort of knowing the feelings were mutual and that at the end of this path, someone would be waiting for you with open arms.
Chapter 7 ( L X Reader)
ANALYZER
WC: 1061
MASTERLIST
-Chapter 6
A/N: AHHHH IM SO SORRY FOR TAKING FOREVER TO UPDATE!!!! I HAD SO MUCH GOING ON IN MY LIFE, TO HAVING WRITTERS BLOCK FOR THIS STORY TO HAVING TO WATCH DEATH NOTE A BILLION TIMES AGAIN TO GET NEW IDEAS! FORGIVE ME! i hope y'all enjoy and let me know what you guys think about this chapter!!!!
Though L had told me he was going to make more time in which we would be able to meet and just get to know one another, but given the situation that we are in, time isn’t in our favor. I’ve been watching the 24/7 surveillance footage we have on yotsoba meetings. I have grown tired of hearing plan after plan, after plan. The Only real interaction or meet was when we would go eat.
“Mmm i think i like the creme brulee cheesecake over your black forest cake.” I mumble as i take another bite of my slice of cake. L on the other hand is just taking chunks out of every slice in front of him.
“ I just enjoy the taste of sugar.” L mumbles with his mouth full.
“ The point of trying cakes is to taste the flavors.”
“ I like sugar.”
“ you said that already.”
“ Then let us discuss something you haven’t heard before Y/N/N. Tell me, how do you think Kira kills? given how much you’ve watched these recordings, i trust that you would be able to come up with a conclusion.`` L leads the conversation.
“ Ryuzaki we said nothing about the case.”
“My apologies, I can’t help but think about anything else.” L rubs his pointer and thumb together as he rolls around the sugar sprinkles, before sucking the sugar off his fingers.
“ Fine, during the meetings theres a lot of numbers, days and ways on how one might be killed or die. There can be a few options all of which cannot be described without some type of supernatural power. One being they, Kira, speaks it into existence.. But that would require some type of God who can do such things. The Other thing is writing it down. Now this one more specifically is what caught my attention. During all the meetings, everyone had a notebook and a pen in front of them but none were used. Except for one, Higuchi . He fiddles with a pen often, and his pen is the only one that’s different from the rest. Indicating it's personal, and this item alone holds some time of significant use to him. Fiddling with the pen can express confidence or the depiction of some type of power.. But again, if he is writing it down, then how do the deaths occur? Unless something of supernatural power is in charge.” I explain before picking up a cheesecake slice and taking a small cut from the end of the slice.
“ Are you saying something of a shinigami? I have to say I’ll be disappointed, as they are nothing but some folklore.” L sighs before staring up at me with his gray orbs.
“ Folklore might sound crazy, but the human brain is not capable of creating or making up things, unless it was seen before. As a result I would not knock the idea, and based on how both Light and Misa reacted when they were confined was like they were no longer under some trance, dare I say even under a control of a spirit or being. Their body language in itself changed drastically, more so with light based on the footage. During his confinement I was able to see small lip movements that read “ Get rid of it.” It was moments after that when his body language changed from annoyance.. To confusion. Light’s body language is never abrupt, always calm..Light likes to articulate his movements and his responses to things. So that quick change in demeanor is what concerns me..”
“And you think that the new Kira is now Higuchi.” L states with a firmness to his voice.
“ If I have to put my bet, I’d say it was him and Namikawa is the one who calls the shots before Higuchi does anything.”
“ I see.. But there were two kiras at one point.. Do you think that the second kira could be Namikawa Y/N/N?”
“I believe that at this very moment there’s only one Kira, which makes my theory of writing in something like a book stronger. When Light said “ get rid of it what does “ it” refer to if not an object . As a result, if we are talking about let’s say some book, then at this very moment the second book hasn’t been possessed or hasn't possessed a person yet.. If Namikawa were the second kira, I don't believe he would be giving Higuchi some type of approval/ or direction of what to do, he would just do it himself.”
“ I agree, I just don’t see how believing in some type of power in an object or being is gonna help us solve the case. If the way of killing can be transmitted between person to person, whether it be through a book or by some type of spiritual possession, the catching of Kira would be impossible.” L argues back with reason as expected.
“ Well it all depends, if we are looking for an object, then maybe the destruction of the object can end the killings. But if it is some type of possession of spirit that jumps from person to person. Then the goal is to look for the type of person the spirit is drawn to. But of course that would be a stretch and as you said, would probably be impossible to solve. But given that at one point Light was Kira, I find it hard to believe that someone who murdered so many people would have no recollection of any of it. Making it be that the person has control on if they can erase their memory and bring it back when needed. Which makes me think that Light could still be Kira without even knowing it anymore.."
“ Y/N/N, I have to say your reasoning on things goes beyond my reasoning. I only deal with the facts and the logical explanation of things. If it cannot be proven then it cannot be used as a fact to support evidence. But you use evidence to create a fact, to make a logical explanation, which is interesting. But it might all be interesting to me, simply for the fact that I cannot believe in some type of supernatural power. But I will leave that to you.” L speaks in a monotone voice, not sounding too fond of my reasoning.
“ I like the bigger picture, not the small details Ryuzaki.”
With a side glance L looks at me but returns to his cake, lifting his feet onto the chair and sitting in his weird position and finishes his cake, with not another word to me. His energy shifted from that of being open to that of being closed off. Was it my tone? No. It was that I’m challenging his logical way of thinking with a more elaborate explanation of what could be and not what is.
SUCCESSOR -`♡´-
summary: He believes he’s going to die soon, and the idea of leaving the Kira case unfinished gnaws at him. The thought of his legacy fading away too soon is unbearable. He needs a successor. And soon.
warnings: A LOT of breeding, smut, unprocteted sex, overstimulation, multiple rounds, pwp, tummy buldge, mentions of cum, mating press, virgin!L, obssesed!L, mentions of forming a family, not proof read and sleepy while writing this. and more.
a/n: ik this is going to have as much support as my other works, but it's def one of my best and favs writings, so please show me your support with a comment and reblog! it means a lot for me!
You've been part of the task force for a while now, ever since L handpicked you for his elite team. As a regular member, you've earned your place and trust within the group. The necessity of keeping your identity hidden has diminished, thanks to the expanding team, but you still opt for an alias during meetings, maintaining a veil of secrecy around your true connection to L.
L’s mind is a labyrinth, each thought of a winding path leading to an unknown destination. His strategies are always a step ahead, his deductions razor-sharp. Yet, despite his brilliance, one specific thought has been haunting him lately:
He believes he’s going to die soon.
This isn't a paranoid delusion but a calculated assessment. L understands the immense dangers tied to the Kira case. The complexity of the situation has grown, and he suspects an external force at play, one that eludes even his grasp. This unknown entity has shifted the balance, making the case more perilous than ever.
L is determined not to let his legacy end prematurely. He has dedicated his life to solving the world’s most challenging mysteries, and the idea of leaving the Kira case unfinished gnaws at him. The thought of his legacy fading away too soon is unbearable.
He needs a successor.
And soon.
Finding someone who can match his intellect and tenacity is no simple task. The successor must be able to understand his intricate methods, to carry on his relentless pursuit of justice. The urgency of this mission weighs heavily on him, as he prepares to identify and groom the next guardian of his legacy.
You were the perfect match for him, and his calculations confirmed it. There was an 86% probability that having a child with you would result in someone with a higher IQ than his own, combined with the social skills he lacked. In the realm of interpersonal relationships, L was inexperienced, never having had a relationship or intimacy before. Recently, he had been contemplating how to propose this idea to you.
Should he ask you outright? Should he try to make you fall in love with him first? No, this wasn't about love. It was a precaution, a step in his investigation, a way to ensure his legacy continued if the worst were to happen.
The atmosphere in the headquarters was tense as always, the dim lighting casting long shadows across the room. You sat at your desk, engrossed in your work, when L’s quiet footsteps approached. His presence was magnetic, his aura of mystery and intellect always palpable. He paused beside you, his gaze fixed on the monitors displaying the latest updates on the Kira case.
“Can we talk?” His voice was soft, almost hesitant, a rare departure from his usual confident demeanor.
You looked up, surprised by the uncharacteristic uncertainty in his tone. “Of course, L. What’s on your mind?”
He shifted, glancing around the room as if searching for the right words. “There’s something I need to discuss with you. It’s… personal.”
Your curiosity piqued, you nodded, giving him your full attention. “I’m listening.”
He took a deep breath, his eyes meeting yours. “You’re aware of the importance of my work, of the dangers we face daily. The Kira case has made me realize that I must consider contingencies I hadn’t thought of before.”
You nodded, waiting for him to continue.
“There’s a… statistical analysis I’ve conducted,” he said, his voice becoming more clinical as he explained. “It suggests that if I were to have a child with someone of your intelligence and social capabilities, the child would have a higher IQ than mine and possess the social skills I lack. This could be crucial in continuing my work if anything were to happen to me.”
The gravity of his words hit you like a ton of bricks. L, always methodical and rational, had approached this highly personal matter with the same analytical mindset he used to solve cases. You could see the logic in his plan, yet the implications were overwhelming.
“So, you want me to… have a child with you?” you asked, trying to keep your voice steady.
“Yes,” he replied, his eyes unwavering. “But understand, this is not about emotions or personal desire...I think” He whispers to himself before he continues– “It’s a precaution, a part of my contingency planning. I’ve never experienced a relationship or intimacy, so I’m uncertain how to approach this.”
The room seemed to close in around you as you processed his request. It was a cold, calculated proposition, yet it carried a weight of vulnerability and trust. L was placing his future, his legacy, in your hands.
“How do you expect this to work, L?” you asked, your voice tinged with both curiosity and trepidation.
“I’m not sure,” he admitted, his facade of invincibility cracking slightly. “I’ve considered different approaches. Should I simply ask you directly? Should I try to make you fall in love with me first? But this isn’t about love. It’s about ensuring that if I am no longer here, someone capable can continue my work.”
A silence fell between you, heavy with unspoken thoughts and emotions. L’s eyes searched yours, looking for understanding, perhaps even acceptance. You could see the conflict within him, the struggle between his logical mind and the unfamiliar territory of human connection.
“I need time to think about this,” you finally said, your voice gentle but firm.
L nodded, a flicker of relief crossing his features. “Of course. Take all the time you need. This is not a decision to be made lightly.”
Finally, you made your decision.
One evening, you found L in his usual spot, hunched over his laptop, eyes glued to the screen. The dim light cast shadows across his face, highlighting the intensity of his focus. Taking a deep breath, you approached him, your heart pounding in your chest.
“L,” you said softly, breaking the silence. He looked up, his piercing gaze meeting yours.
“I’ve thought about what you asked,” you continued, your voice steady despite the turmoil inside. “And I agree.”
For a moment, L simply stared at you, processing your words. Then, slowly, he nodded, his fingers tapping lightly on the edge of his desk. “Understood. Thank you for your cooperation.”
You took a seat across from him, the air between you charged with a new sense of purpose. “How do we proceed?”
L leaned back, his thumb brushing his bottom lip in thought. “We need to ensure this doesn’t disrupt our work or compromise the investigation. The task force must not be aware of our personal connection, as it could create complications.”
You nodded, understanding the delicate balance that needed to be maintained. L’s expression remained impassive, but there was a flicker of something in his eyes. “I must admit that emotional connections are not my area of expertise. This will be… a learning experience. Should… we do it tonight?”
“Ah- Ah- Slow down, L-Lawliet!” you gasped, your voice breaking with a mix of pleasure and urgency.
L’s thrusts were sloppy but fast, driven more by instinct than experience. His movements lacked rhythm, a clear sign of his inexperience. He had come twice already without withdrawing from you, his body responding purely on primal urges.
He had done his research, concluding that a mating press might be the most effective position for this purpose. But he never anticipated how overwhelmingly good it would feel. Was it like this with everyone? Or was it something unique because it was you?
His thrusts grew more erratic, almost desperate. Small whines escaped his mouth, each one tinged with your name like a prayer. You could feel every twitch, every movement inside you, the raw intensity of his desire almost too much to bear.
“L,” you whispered, trying to regain some control. “You need to… slow down.”
He nodded, a bead of sweat trickling down his forehead. “I’m trying,” he panted, his voice unsteady. “It’s just… so overwhelming.”
His usually sharp, calculating mind seemed lost in the haze of sensation. Every thrust, every brush of skin against skin, was a new experience for him. You could see the conflict in his eyes, the struggle between maintaining control and giving in to the raw pleasure.
He moaned at the familiar, overwhelming sensation of climaxing again, and you could feel your own release approaching. The intensity was almost unbearable when he grabbed a pillow and slipped it under your back, angling you into an even deeper mating press. His thrusts became more deliberate, his cock somehow reaching deeper, hitting your g-spot with precision over and over again.
The pleasure was so intense, so all-consuming, that all you could do was chant his name like a mantra, each syllable a prayer of ecstasy. “L-Lawliet,” you breathed, your voice trembling with the force of your impending climax.
He watched you with dark, hungry eyes, his own pleasure driving him to thrust harder, faster. “S-shit,” he gasped, his breath hitching, “I think—” His words dissolved into a whine as he came again inside you, his release flooding your womb with a desperate, addictive need.
This wasn’t just about producing a successor anymore. It was about the raw, primal satisfaction of filling you over and over again. He was captivated by the sight of your bodies joined, the way your mixed arousal leaked from where you were connected, glistening in the dim light.
“Lawliet,” you cried out, your own climax hitting you with the force of a tidal wave. Your body tightened around him, milking every last drop of his release as he continued to thrust, his movements erratic and needy.
He whimpered, the sound vibrating through his chest as he pressed his forehead against yours, his dark hair falling in a messy curtain around your face. “You feel… incredible,” he whispered, his voice rough with emotion and exertion.
He groaned before pressing his lips to yours, the kiss deep and fervent. His cock remained erect inside you, pulsing with an insatiable desire. The feeling of having you this close, of being connected so intimately, was overwhelming. In that moment, he lost all sense of reason and the initial purpose behind his actions.
His mind, usually so sharp and focused on the Kira case, was now clouded with visions of a future he never thought he'd consider. He imagined how adorable you would look, carrying his child, a baby with his eyes and your smile. The idea of having a family with you consumed him, pushing all thoughts of logic and strategy aside.
Without realizing it, he began thrusting again, the movement instinctual and desperate. Each thrust was deliberate, fulfilling the small bump of cum inside you that was already visible through your tummy. He watched in awe, fascinated by the sight of your bodies joined so intimately, the tangible evidence of his desire and your shared pleasure.
“L-Lawliet,” you gasped against his lips, your hands clutching his shoulders as he moved within you. “What... what are you thinking?”
He pulled back slightly, his eyes locking onto yours. “I’m thinking… I’m thinking about us. About a future I never allowed myself to dream of.” His voice was rough with emotion, a raw edge that you rarely heard.
Your heart swelled at his words, the vulnerability in his usually composed demeanor striking a chord deep within you. “Lawliet,” you whispered, your fingers tracing the contours of his face. “I never imagined… I never thought you’d want this.Want me”
“I didn’t either,” he admitted, his thrusts growing more purposeful. “But now, with you, that's all I can think about. The idea of you carrying my child, of us having a family…you in general… it’s overwhelming.”
He kissed you again, more gently this time, savoring the softness of your lips against his. Each thrust sent waves of pleasure through you, the sensation heightened by the emotional intensity of the moment. His hands roamed your body, memorizing every curve, every detail.
“Do you… do you want this too?” he asked, his voice trembling slightly.
“Yes,” you breathed, the admission freeing a weight you hadn’t realized you were carrying. “I want this. I want us.”
His eyes darkened with a mix of relief and desire, and he kissed you harder, his movements inside you becoming more urgent. The room filled with the sounds of your shared pleasure, each moan and gasp a testament to the bond growing between you.
As he continued to thrust, you could feel the tension coiling tighter within you, each movement pushing you closer to the edge. He seemed to sense it too, his rhythm intensifying as he chased his own release.
“Lawliet,” you cried out, your climax hitting you with the force of a tidal wave. Your body tightened around him, every nerve ending alight with sensation.
He groaned, his own release following closely behind, filling you once more. The feeling was addictive, the raw intimacy of it all-consuming. He held you close, his forehead resting against yours as you both caught your breath.
“I can’t believe this is happening,” he whispered mostly to himself, his voice filled with wonder.
“Neither can I,” you replied, your heart pounding in sync with his. “But it feels right. It feels perfect.”
He nodded, a small smile playing at the corners of his lips. “It does.”
You stayed entwined like that, savoring the afterglow and the newfound depth of your connection. The Kira case and the outside world faded into the background, replaced by the warmth of each other’s presence and the promise of a future together.
Eventually, as the reality of your situation began to seep back in, you knew you had to return to your duties. But the bond you had forged would remain, a source of strength and comfort in the days to come.
As L gently pulled out and helped you adjust, he pressed a tender kiss to your forehead. “We’ll figure this out,” he said softly in a small whisper. “Together.”
“Together,” you echoed, your heart filled with a certainty that no matter what challenges lay ahead, you would face them side by side.
SMUT, 18+, MDNI
The dim glow of the television cast shadows around the room. You had been at your high school's farewell party, and had too many drinks there to stumble back home in one piece. It was almost midnight, so there was also no way your boyfriend, Light Yagami, would have let you out of his sight, especially with how tipsy you were. He was quite protective of you, but he was right. You let out a drunk sigh and looked away, silently accepting the fact that you'd have to meet his parents in the morning and share a few awkward exchanges.
Light had had more drinks than you at the party, but he looked far from as drunk as you currently were. He was quietly watching a movie on the TV, stroking your hair lightly. Your gaze went up from Light to the flickering screen. A sudden surge of courage rushed through you.
"Light," you whispered, breaking the silence with your hoarse voice.
"No, you're not going home tonight," Light replied without looking at you.
"No, it's not that," you said frustratedly.
Light raised his eyebrows, hearing you slur your words due to the effects of the alcohol. Still, he did not look at you.
"How much did you drink?"
"Less than what you drank," your throat burned, your eyes drooping slightly.
He ignored you, seemingly engrossed in the movie, but you knew it was all just an act for the cameras L had set up.
You continued, "And it doesn't matter how much I drank, because either way, you refuse to give me attention."
Ryuk snickered in the corner.
Light frowned, finally turning his attention towards you as his eyes trailed down your body. He noticed the dark circles under your eyes, the redness of your cheeks, and the slight swaying of your body.
He looked at you for a few more seconds with a calculating look before sighing and setting the remote on his table. He stood up, "You should really get some sleep."
"No," you repeated.
"I-" Light was starting to get annoyed. "Are you crazy? Don't you want to go home tomorrow?"
"I just- I-" You sighed again, leaning back against your chair and almost falling off.
"Idiot," Light muttered, catching you before you fell. He carried you to his bed and lay you down gently before covering you with his blanket. "Are you comfortable? Do you want me to sleep on the floor?"
"No, no, I need cuddles," you smiled drunkenly, completely forgetting what you were going to say back when you had gotten some "courage".
"Of course, you do," Light said proudly. "You need my cuddles to sleep."
You hummed in response. As he snottily took his shirt off before lying down next to you, you closed your eyes slightly. They were burning, as if trying to stop you from both closing them and keeping them open.
His hands made their way to your back, gently pushing your neck to his bare chest. You finally shut your heavy eyelids and snuggled closer to him. This was what you always wanted. Just you and Light. Alone.
You furrowed your eyebrows, your eyes still tightly shut, your face pressed against him. Alone? It was laughable that you thought even for a moment that you two were alone right now. Well, for one, there was a God of Death in the same room as you, trying not to pass out from the lack of apples in his digestive system. Second, a great detective was watching the two of you, possibly along with your boyfriend's own father.
Light pulled you even closer to him, inhaling your scent deeply. Soon, the two of you drifted off to dreamland, and L was left questioning whether the seventeen-year-old star student really was a murderer.
You woke up, limbs tangled with Light's. You checked your wristwatch. About four hours had passed, and as you tried to sit up, your head felt heavy from an early hangover. Light's eyes jerked open. He had always been a light sleeper.
"Hm?" he mumbled in his sleep, no longer feeling the presence of your head in the crook of his neck. "What's the matter, honey?"
"I... had a dream," you said slowly.
"Nightmare?"
"Kinda."
Light sat up slowly and reached out for a glass of water to hand to you.
You peeked into the glass, rubbing your left eye until you saw stars.
"Vodka?" you said hopefully.
"Water," he replied calmly.
You pouted pleadingly; more alcohol was what you needed right now, but you eventually had to resign to your boyfriend. You drank the water, and instantly felt much more sober than you were before. Your sleepy eyes fell on Ryuk, his legs and hands in a rather uncomfortable position, perhaps due to not having apples for such a long time.
For a moment, you, for the second time that night, completely forgot about the existence of the cameras.
You turned to Light. "How long is he going to go without apples?"
"Who, honey?" Light's eyes flashed warningly, but you were far too sleepy to notice.
"Ryuk, your Shini-"
Your words were cut off by a sharp kiss. Light had completely thrown himself at you, and you fell back down on the bed due to the sheer force of his abrupt kiss. The empty glass landed on the floor with a loud clink, but he ignored it. His hands reached under your shirt, his nails digging into the skin of your hips as if daring you to talk further.
You attempted to prop yourself up on your elbows, to gain some kind of control over what was happening. But Light pushed you back down, pulling you by your hips and roughly throwing your head down on the pillow.
He pulled away eventually, the pupils of his eyes completely red, and you cursed yourself mentally. This was not your Light. This was Kira.
He leaned away from you, got up to pick up the thrown glass and filled it with water again, but as he offered it to you, you rejected it. "I'm sober enough for this, Light."
"Very well then," Light whispered and leaned in closer to your ear. "I hope you remember you're being watched. Make sure you put on a show."
You nodded slowly, letting his hands roam around and make their way to the hem of your skirt, twirling the fabric around his fingers. He brought another hand to your top and slid it under the cloth, feeling the material of your satin bra.
"The one I gifted to you?" he raised his eyebrows, a little smirk on his face.
"Yes," you whispered, pulling his bare chest against your clothed one. "Strip me, Light."
"What's the magic word?" he teased, hand slipping under your bra and cupping your breast.
"Please," you whimpered when he pinched your nipple.
Ryuk snapped his eyes open and tumbled out of the room clumsily, perhaps to give you some privacy.
"Good girl," he didn't hide his smirk this time as he pulled your top off completely, throwing it to the side where it landed on his chair next to his own shirt. He ran his hands down your back, grabbing the zipper of your skirt and slowly pulling it down. Light slid the skirt down your legs, leaving you in a matching set of satin underwear and bra.
"Pretty," he murmured, his hand grasping his growing bulge tightly.
"Let me help you with that," you sat up on all fours and leaned in closer, a hand stretched out to touch his crotch.
You rubbed him lightly, slowly increasing your pace before unbuckling his belt and slipping your hand under his boxers. Your constant touching of his tip made him groan, hand reaching out to yank you by your hair and push you back down to the bed. You grabbed his hands and brought them to your breasts, pressing them against your chest.
"Take my bra off."
"I'm not a man to be told what to do," he said, bringing his lips down to your neck. "But I will allow it this time."
Light freed his hands from your grip and brought them to your back, unclasping the hook of your bra and letting it fall to the floor. He cupped your breasts in his hands, lowering himself so that his mouth sucked on one nipple while his hand squeezed the other.
"Fuck," you moaned, pushing his head against your chest.
He grabbed your hand and brought it once more to his crotch, letting you feel the bulge in his pants again.
"You're not the only one who's needy right now."
"You're so- god, I can't wait to feel you inside me," you said, rubbing his dick through the fabric.
"Patient girls are rewarded," he said, dragging his lips from your neck to your collarbone, his free hand ripping your panties off.
"Hey!" you whisper-screamed.
"I'll buy you another set," he said calmly, sliding two fingers inside you, curling them up and hitting your g-spot.
"Yes," you moaned, pushing his hand against your pussy. "Faster."
He brought his other hand from your nipple to your clit and started rubbing it in circles, simultaneously fucking you with his fingers.
"Fuck, I'm going to come," you whimpered after a few minutes, feeling your orgasm build.
"Mhm, do it, what a good girl," he said, rubbing your clit faster, aiding your release. You came hard on his fingers, arching your back, bucking against his hand and moaning loudly. Your legs shook, while he pulled his fingers out of your pussy and brought them to your mouth. "Clean them."
You nodded, sucking on his fingers, your teeth digging into his skin. Light smirked.
"Don't you think you should be punished?"
"Huh-? For what, Li-?"
Your words were cut off once again when he pulled you onto his lap so that your ass faced him and you lay on your stomach, pussy pressed against his crotch.
_ _ _ _
"L, I don't think we should be watching this," Soichiro Yagami kept his eyes away from the screen, where his son, his perfect little son, was busy fingering his girlfriend. He hadn't even known he had a girlfriend, let alone the fact that they were so... intimate with each other.
"There has to be some meaning in what the girl said," L racked his brains, eyes scanning the scene, now showing you in Light's lap and his hand rubbing your ass. "Apples?"
"For god's sake, it may be some sort of safeword for when they- for when they do- this," Soichiro yelled, his eyes on the floor.
"It's not a mere coincidence, Mr Yagami," L said thoughtfully. "Apples? Kira told me 'Shinigamis' loved apples earlier. This is not a coincidence, Mr Yagami."
_ _ _ _
"You're going to be punished for fucking everything up," he whispered in your ear before smacking your ass hard. "Count."
"One!" you yelped, feeling the sting of his hand on your ass. "Two!" "Three!" "Four!" "Five!"
He kept spanking you, alternating between your ass cheeks. You could feel his dick hard against your stomach, and ignoring the pain in your ass, you started to grind against it.
"Six!" "Seven!" "Eight!"
He spanked you harder, and you could feel your ass getting red. You were breathing heavily, and your pussy was so wet that it was dripping onto his lap.
"Nine! Ten!"
_ _ _ _
"Can we stop watching this now?" Soichiro groaned.
"There has to be some hint," L traced the screen with his fingers which showed you getting spanked hard by Light now.
Soichiro let out an uncomfortable sigh.
"Mr Yagami, you can close your ears and eyes," L said without looking away from the screen.
_ _ _ _
"Good girl," Light said, rubbing your ass. "Now, a reward."
He slid his pants and boxers down to his legs and wiggled out of them. He brought his dick to your pussy, rubbing its head against your clit and earning a moan from your pursed lips. He flipped you over, pinning you under him on the bed again as he continued to tease you.
"Please, Light," you begged, trying to reach out for his dick so you could push it in.
"Please what?" he said sweetly and you groaned in annoyance.
"Please fuck me."
He smiled and pushed his dick inside you slowly, savouring every inch of your tight pussy.
"Oh!" you wailed, feeling his cock stretch your pussy.
He started bucking his hips in and out, fucking you harder as his balls slapped against your clit, doubling the pleasure. He was careful not to make a sound, but he didn't stop you from letting your strangled moans out. This would be your punishment, facing his mother in the morning after getting fucked so hard by him at night.
You tried very hard to suppress your lustful sounds, eyes welling up at the thought of facing his family in a few hours, but you couldn't. He was too good. He knew just how to get under your skin. Slowly, you felt your second orgasm approaching.
"Ah, ah! I want to come," you clasped your hand against your mouth to stop yourself from screaming. He was going so hard on you, of course, his mother and his sister would wake up if he continued.
"No, you're not. Hold it in," Light commanded. "You're going to come when I say so."
He kept fucking you harder, and you could feel your orgasm building. This was torture. There was no way you could hold yourself in when he was going so hard on you.
"Please, Light," you begged, feeling your pussy clench around his dick. "I can't hold it in anymore."
"Hold it in, I said," he said, flipping you over again and spanking your ass hard. He increased his speed, and you buried your head in a pillow to muffle your screams. "I'm going to come inside you now. Understood?"
You could feel his cock twitching inside you, and you knew he wasn't lying about his orgasm. You nodded slowly, voice still distant because of the pillow.
He let out a long, satisfied groan as he released his juices inside you, pushing his dick deep inside you. You could feel his cum filling your pussy, and it sent you over the edge.
"Now, come for me, pretty girl," Light said in a hoarse voice.
"Yes!" you screamed, feeling your orgasm wash over you. His cum was dripping out of your pussy, and you could feel his cock softening inside you.
"Good," he said, pulling his cock out of you. It was scary how calm and composed he was when a minute ago, he had spanked you so hard. He grabbed a towel and wiped your pussy clean.
_ _ _ _
Soichiro blinked at the abrupt ending of the sounds. Still refusing to look up at the screen, he asked, "Is it over now?"
"They're both still naked," L said, analyzing the place, feeling his own dick harden at your bare figure, panting and sweating as Light got off you and laid next to you, throwing the towel somewhere insignificant.
"Well then?" Soichiro said.
"Well what?"
"You made me watch my son... doing- doing stuff with his girlfriend," Soichiro said in a shaky voice, his hands behind his back to avoid pulling his hair out in frustration. "What have you understood from this?"
"What I've understood?" L said thoughtfully, his gaze unconsciously reaching his growing bulge. "Your son is quite romantic, I suppose."
we creep up on extinction, i pull your arms right in i weep and say “goodnight, love,” while my organs pack it in and here it is, our final night alive and as the earth burns to the ground, oh girl, it's you that i lie with as the atom bomb locks in oh, it's you i watch tv with as the world, as the world caves in
⤷ l lawliet x reader
⤷ soft angst, implied character death (takes place right before L dies), title and lyrics from matt maltese’s “as the world caves in”
those damn bells. he’s heard them all day long.
it started as distracting and has now escalated to pissing him off.
as if ryuzaki didn’t already have enough to deal with. he’s in his prime, at the peak of this case, so very close to solving it all.
and now this, these damn bells.
you’d noticed his increased irritability today. oh, how he’d felt like crying after he’d snapped at you earlier. all you had done was ask if he was feeling alright, offered to maybe bring him some cake, and he’d written you off with a snippy tone and a sarcastic comment.
guilt shriveled up his heart like a punch to the gut.
of course it’s not your fault. you’re not a detective, and you definitely didn’t hear the bells. even if you did, you’d have no idea what they meant in any case.
he wishes he could tell you. now that he knows what’s coming, what was inevitable in every universe, there is so much he wishes he could tell you. but he still can’t, there’s just not enough time. that’s always the problem, isn’t it?
he’s already made his final preparations. have watari arrange to delete the files, contact roger, alert the orphanage. it’s all in order.
he’s made his own arrangements, too. a letter with his final words to you, everything he’s always wanted to say and never could. you’ll find it tomorrow morning, probably.
there’s really nothing else to do now but wait.
you’re already asleep when he comes shuffling into the bedroom, the patter of water droplets following him in.
you stir as he pads toward you, as if you can sense him even in your dreams. you sit up, rubbing the sleep from your eyes and call out to him in a soft voice. it’s a tone he only ever hears when you say his name.
“you’re soaking wet,” you murmur, cupping his face between your hands as you look him over. his eyes are fixed on the spot between your brows where a concerned crease is growing. “what on earth were you doing?”
“up on the roof,” he whispers back. “just thinking. no need to be so worried, love.”
“i always worry about you,” you remind him, thumbs stroking his cheeks as you give him a soft smile. “that’s my job. i think you’ve been overworking yourself lately. i know you can’t help it, but you ought to at least take decent care of yourself.”
he gives no response aside from a low hum. he’s quiet as you towel him dry with gentle hands, get him out of his sopping clothes and into comfortable pajamas.
you’re brushing his damp hair back with your fingers, tracing the lines of his face like you’re trying to memorize it with your touch, when he speaks in a quiet voice.
“i’m sorry i snapped at you earlier.”
you blink, surprised. you’d just about forgotten it already.
“is that what’s got you in this mood?” you muse, crawling into bed to sit beside him. not just that, he thinks as his hands find yours, resting in your lap. but that’s about the only thing i can apologize for right now. he can’t bring himself to meet your eyes.
“it’s okay, ryuzaki,” you tell him, and he feels the warmth and kindness in your voice.
no it’s not.
“i shouldn’t have spoken to you that way,” he insists quietly, staring down at your interlocked hands.
“really, ryuzaki, i’m not upset. you’ve been overworked and stressed and i should’ve let you be.”
“i love you,” he says, his black hole eyes staring right through your soul. it doesn’t scare you. it never has.
“i love you too, ryuzaki. let’s go to bed, okay? you’ll feel better tomorrow.”
he really wishes that were true, but he lets you pull him down to rest beside you anyway. he treasures the way your body curls against his, the warmth of you beside him.
he tries to internalize it all. the smell of your shampoo, the faint humming of his computer in the corner, the rise and fall of your chest as you breathe.
his fingers are ghostly gentle as they trace over the soft planes of your face. his heart tugs when your eyes crinkle with a little smile.
“what are you looking at me like that for?” you ask in a whisper.
it takes him a second to respond, lost in your eyes. “you’re…the most beautiful thing i’ve ever seen.”
you stifle a little giggle into the pillow, basking in this rare affection. you have no idea what tomorrow holds—the agony the coming days, weeks, years will be for you.
what a small miracle the marginal odds of you two finding each other were. what a little tragedy it is that it was never something fated to last.
but fate has no place here tonight. in the safety of this bedroom, with the rain pouring heavy outside and the man you love—the intangible, elusive enigma that is L transformed into the quiet, thoughtful, lovely man that you know as ryuzaki—at your side, you are happy.
dividers by @/saradika-graphics — because i love angst apparently?? kitty drops two bangers in one day, what are the odds. if you’re looking for fluff to fix this please check out daydream or my retired detective!L headcanons (where he lives!!) much love and take care, - 𝚔𝚒𝚝𝚝𝚢 !
Catch Kira, NOT Feelings! Ch. 5
Part 4 | Part 6 -> Coming soon
Series masterlist here
Regular masterlist here
Tags: L is jealous af, Light is as manipulative as ever, Aizawa cockblock pt 2., fake dating to the max, makeout (FINALLY), mentions of arousal (m and f), reader knows there's no way this can be 'fake', L is pining and down horrendous, MDNI, 18+ series
Synopsis: Another tape from the Second Kira arrives at the task force and the group is left wondering what the next moves is. In the meantime, members are becoming increasingly suspicious of the dynamic between you and L. With increased jealousy and stakes higher than ever, Ryuzaki decides it's time to double-down on this 'fake-dating' plan.
Word count: 7.4k
[a/n at the end]
~~~~~~~
The Aoyama plan ended less awkwardly than it had started, thankfully. Aside from the usual rowdy groups that occasionally walked the streets, there was nothing suspicious to report back at all, making the day relatively tame. And before you and L could fully sit and analyze all the CCTV footage of cafe windows and restaurant ratios, Shibuya had rolled around with similar poor luck. It was like Kira just decided to let the Second make these invitations before effectively ghosting them without response.
Tokyo Dome was the last event with a chance of either Kira making a move, and with security already ramped up for the upcoming date, the task force was left analyzing every detail from the previous attempts; no rock left unturned, no camera left unchecked.
It’s been roughly 3 nights since Aoyama and 3 nights since you’ve begun this charade with L. Considering the both of you were already hiding the notebook theory, adding another secret to the list hadn’t seemed daunting at first. Though as you sit in your usual spot in the center of the task force couch between Mogi and Light, Aizawa’s glare on you is colder than usual.
“Alright, and then what happened Matsuda?” Ryuzaki asks, before popping a chocolate covered strawberry in mouth.
Matsuda thinks for a moment and shrugs with a sad sigh. “Well, I tripped on the sidewalk and spilled my water all over the cool shirt I bought for the mission.”
It’s nothing important or helpful, but the team nods in comprehension as everyone reviews their own respective reports from the day. Focusing on your own documents is nearly impossible; everytime you look up, Aizawa is staring between you and L as if you were zoo animals before non-discreetly looking away.
You peer over to Ryuzaki who is slipping another chocolatey fruit between his lips and give a mental ‘help me out here’ with your gaze. Juice running down his chin, L looks at you wide eyed for a moment, processing the situation, before glancing over at your colleague unamused.
“Ah, Aizawa. Did anything from the security reports stand out to you?”
Idiot. He’s a world famous detective but can’t understand basic social cues??
Your attempts to avoid attention from the man are effectively reversed as Aizawa glances between you and Ryuzaki with a mix of pissed off and disgust.
He crosses his arms. “Well…no. I had actually had trouble focusing that day.”
Mogi sighs empathetically and leans in. “I know it must be hard considering your family.”
Aizawa huffs and nods in disbelief while you’re questioning if this room full of detectives really is the last hope at finding Kira. Sinking further in your seat, you glance down at the papers Light is flipping through and take notice that this is quietest he’s been in a while. Taking a small sip of coffee while Aizawa grits out a fake story about his family life as reasoning to Mogi, you nudge your friend’s shoulder.
“Everything good?”
“Huh?” Light looks up and blinks a few times as if he hadn’t been paying attention to anything the past 10 minutes. “Oh, y-yea. Just didn’t sleep much is all.”
You raise an eyebrow but notice the puffiness of his eyes before shrugging and turning back to the group; Mr. Yagami begrudgingly consoles Matsuda that he’ll have plenty more opportunities to do fieldwork and not ruin his clothing.
Ryuzaki sits up and flicks the remote to broadcast the walking path Light and Matsuda had taken while sucking some stray strawberry juice from the base of his thumb. It shouldn’t be erotic. You shouldn’t find it anything but normal considering him. But the vulgar sight of it makes an uncomfortably familiar feeling stir before his eyes meet yours with an unreadable stare. The two of you hold it for a moment until you finally find the ability to peel your gaze back to the screen.
“This is the path that Matsuda and–”
“--Ryuzaki.” The hotel door opens and Watari swiftly enters inside with a laptop tucked under his arm. “I’m sorry for the interruption, but there’s another tape sent from the Second Kira.”
Shit.
The group falls silent before scrambling to set up the screen to mirror the laptop and adjust the speakers for the audio; the room is completely silent when L hit ‘play’.
‘I have found Kira.’
Worried eyes glance off the screen and around the group while Light sits motionless at your side; everyone is thinking the same question. You turn your head to Ryuzaki who looks away from the TV and meets your gaze, a silent ‘how?’ floats silently between you both. Aside from the minor hiccup when Aizawa interrupted, there wasn’t a moment when you two weren’t staring at the monitors, watching every angle in real time.
In silence, he leans forward to resume the message.
‘To all of the people at the television station and the police, thank you very much.’
The video ends abruptly and the group collectively turns between each other in shock and confusion. You look between Ryuzaki and Light for a moment, watching the way they both seem to be completely lost in thought and concentration.
“Watari.” You turn towards the elderly man who stands behind you on the couch. “When was this sent?”
He peers down naturally. “It arrived today, but was postmarked from the 22nd, y/n.”
The day after Aoyama?
Desperate sighs at the information flood the room while Matsuda sits looking guilty. “That’s right after Light and I walked the streets… how could we miss it?”
Mr. Yagami clears his breath and places a reassuring hand on his colleague’s shoulder. “It’s not anyone’s fault. Can we assume based on this message that both Kira’s have already teamed up? If they’re working together, it may have been impossible to notice their interaction.”
Light furrows his brows in thought, most likely recalling the memories of Aoyama for a moment when he would’ve seen anything suspicious; before you can offer help, you notice the way Ryuzaki’s gaze is locked onto the man. L takes the nail he chews out from his teeth and looks at Mr. Yagami.
“No, the tape only mentioned finding the original Kira, not coordinating.”
You sit forward. “So it’s possible they’ve never interacted then?”
Ryuzaki glances at Light once more before turning to the group. “That’s correct. And if that suspicion is true, this Second Kira has a keen eye for identification that we don’t have.”
Aizawa sighs and rubs his temples. “We spent hours watching CCTV with no detail looking strange along with dozens of officers undercover, and Light and Matsuda walking. How could we miss it?”
L takes another chocolate fruit from the coffee table and bites into it, catching the solidified candy outing when it cracks. “No, it’s not that we missed anything. It’s that we couldn't see it.”
Mogi raises an eyebrow and Light finally speaks up from his trance. “What? What do you mean by that?”
You flip through your documents while Ryuaki pauses to chew, scanning through the papers until the diary entry for the Tokyo Dome comes into view. “Wait, you mean like from this event? It mentions the Second Kira seeing a Shinigami at the Dome… so Shinigami is code for witnessing something?”
Light pauses, opens his mouth, and then shuts it again; L sits listening to your explanation.
“Yea, and since Shinigami aren’t real… or like we could never see it, it’s code for something only Kiras can see?” Mogi asks while scratching his chin.
“Yes, both of you are in the same direction of deduction as myself. It’s clear this Second Kira is especially keen on detail and observation; something we should be extremely wary about.” L pauses and then turns to Light. “Though the concrete evidence of the tapes being sent on the 23rd do look rather peculiar for you, Light.”
“Enough. Matsuda was with him the entire time! Second Kira could have seen anyone that day; maybe not even in Aoyama, if it was a false clue.”Mr. Yagami stands up and crosses his arms while Watari walks around him to bring a fresh set of coffee cups to the table.
Light sighs beside you, “Dad, it makes sense L is suspicious.” He turns to L. “Ryuzaki, doesn’t the fact that nothing happened that day make you feel any better?”
Mogi raises an eyebrow. “Like, the fact that no one died? Trust me Light, I don’t think it’s you… but nothing happening while everyone is watching you doesn’t exactly prove anything.”
You shake your head and place your documents on the table. “No, Light means that nothing happened when the Second Kira saw him…–Assuming you’re Kira of course,” you add in, to avoid pressuring the topic.
Ryuzaki places the now empty small dessert plate on the coffee table. He takes the stem of cherry from his mouth and sighs while looking up with a slightly depressive tone. “Yes, exactly. The concrete evidence makes it highly convenient that the day after you set out trying to draw out the Second Kira, we get a message… but the fact that we don’t know the deciding factor in how they spotted Kira makes things a bit difficult.”
Mr. Yagami sits down with a frustrated exhale. “So are we now facing two Kiras that could soon be cooperating?”
L looks over at the man. “Potentially, and if that’s the case we’re going to need to be even more cautious than ever. But, assuming they really have only seen Kira– we can hope there is room for negotiation.”
Light shifts and raises an eyebrow, already following along with an annoyed expression. “Let me guess, we make a response demanding information on Kira in exchange for something?”
“Precisely. We can’t shorten a sentence given their murders, but we can offer a less intense version of punishment.”
Aizawa snorts sarcastically. “Oh, so we offer the comfiest jail cell in Japan for their lifetime sentence? We’re seriously going to negotiate with a serial killer?”
Ryuzaki ignores the comment and nods to confirm his decision while you glance over at your friend. “It’s our only option –we can’t make another fake Kira message since we don’t know their exact level of contact.”
Light sighs. “That’s true too. If we send a fake Kira tape to the Second Kira demanding something they have already discussed… it would jeopardize everything..”
“Ok, so we’ll make it a police announcement regardless,” Mr. Yagami sighs before glancing at Ryuzaki with an exhausted expression. “Can we take a quick recess, please?”
Mogi rises before the group effectively disperses, “I’ll be retrieving the DNA returns on the tapes this week. If we’re going to make a move, it may be beneficial to do it now before we essentially make an arrest for whoever’s fingerprints are on the tapes.”
Ryuzaki nods in approval while members split off to stretch, smoke, grab food, and make phone calls to their family; L stands and motions to the bedroom door once more.
“Can I have a word?”
You rise to your feet and stretch side to side while Aizawa looks up from his phone with a stiff expression; he shudders slightly when you make eye contact before spinning around to continue his call. Matsuda looks up from the front door in confusion at L’s private invitation before Aizawa shoves him forward to exit with a grunted sigh. “Nah, let’s get out of here.”
Walking to the room, and slipping inside to resume your usual mini meeting with L, you shut the door while Ryuzaki paces back and forth in thought. You head towards the bed and jump up to the mattress, crossing your legs comfortably as you sit on the plush hotel comforter.
“It’s obvious that the Second Kira witnessed Kira during Aoyama… but how? How did they see something we didn’t?”
You watch the way he paces with a nail tucked between his teeth and shrug lightly. “Well if they didn’t meet, should we re-watch all the CCTV tapes with angles of cafes where customers stayed further from the street? Like inside through windows or patios tucked away from the footpaths?”
Ryuzaki stops and sighs. “Yes, we’ll need to redistribute videos to everyone to review once more given our theory.”
“And what about the ‘notebooks’?”
He stops and heads over to the bed, leaning against the mattress a few feet away from you. “Not yet. We need a little more information considering there were no fatalities at any of the events thus far. If our theory is notebooks being references to killing and there’s no body… we may need to reevaluate the usage of the term.”
You exhale and flop backwards onto the bed casually; the pillows and sheets are all perfectly arranged indicating Ryuzaki hasn’t been sleeping recently. The routine of these mini meetings is so normal that the crease in the comforter from where you sit is always in the same indentation as from the day before.
“Everytime we get any information on either Kira, it feels like we’re even more lost than before.”
Ryuzaki nods and looks at the analog clock that ticks absentmindedly in the background; you sit up on your elbows and take in his appearance. The usual baggy long sleeve white tee draps his frame, and his baggy jeans are hanging low enough to show the elastic band of his boxers; everytime he raises his hand to bite the nail, a small part of the ‘V’ on his abdomen is revealed.
You peel your eyes away and look up at the room ceiling. “What do we do about… this? Catching Kira may take a lot longer than we think… so–”
The words trail off and you look back at the man leaning against the mattress; he has the slightest dust of pink on his cheeks. “Huh, oh– we can continue. If it’s not uncomfortable.”
You stare at the way he’s refusing to make eye contact and fully sit upright once more. “Isn’t it only a matter of time before Aizawa slips up? Or the rest of the ground catches on? Matsuda already noticed…”
Ryuzaki shrugs and finally peels his eyes off the scattered papers on his desk and rests them on you. “I thought you said you didn’t mind if people thought you and I were… together?”
“Well–” you blush slightly and tuck your chin into your chest. “I don’t care if they think you and I are dating. It’s just a personal thing to have everyone know– especially when this is the one group we’re supposed to be totally honest with.”
Ryuzaki grunts slightly, “Well, given my suspicion of Light, my trust in this group isn’t exactly at 100%… but I agree they are the closest people I’ve been open with. Aizawa’s immediate belief in our rushed excuse holds a lot of weight, and I don’t take that for granted.”
You watch him silence as he continues. “But, it’s for the best if they think shallowly about what we do for now. If Light actually is Kira, it would be best to have him think we’re secretly in love rather than plotting his arrest. And unfortunately that means the rest of the task force as well– many already are hostile to the idea of Light being guilty.”
A sigh escapes as you hum in agreement, but you bring your chin into your chest once again; your gaze drops to the floor. Ryuzaki holds your glance as he leans further on the bed, the mattress shifting downwards at the weight.
“You’re still questioning my suspicions on Light, aren’t you?”
Seeing right through as always, he leans further into the space while you shrug in defeat. “No, that’s not it…It’s more like I feel guilty for believing you.”
He watches in silence while you work it out further. “It would be like if someone told me they thought you were Kira. It feels so weird to entertain the idea; let alone work towards achieving it. Even if I do believe it.”
L tilts his head to the side and leans even closer to your position, dark locks of hair kissing his cheekbones at the movement. “Ah really? I would hope you’d be a little more upset if you heard the news that your ‘boyfriend’ was suspected of being a serial killer.”
A laugh escapes your lips and a grin spreads across your lips despite the attempt at remaining somber and melancholic. You roll your eyes and lightly shove him to the slide. “Oh my God, was that a joke?”
Ryuzaki smiles slightly, his eyes on your lips and cheeks a pale pink. “Just because I have superior critical thinking skills than most doesn’t mean I’m devoid of humor.”
You uncross your arms and sit a little lighter, still grinning from the playful tone of the conversation. L admires your now less-stressed expression and takes a casual breath, his tone a bit more serious.
“I’m sure it’s hard to be suspicious of your ‘friend’... But please trust in my and your own reasoning skills a bit longer.”
“Mm,” you exhale slowly, and look up at the man, your gaze now more confident than earlier. “Of course… as long as it takes.”
For the second time in the conversation, Ryuzaki’s gaze falls down to your lips and his attention lingers there. Subconsciously wetting your lips and analyzing the expression of his face, you’re brought back to the day watching CCTV of Aoyama. The way he’s looking at you, taking in each meticulous expression of your face, leaves his pupils dilated, further darkening his eyes.
You’re left wondering if this is the moment you discuss what the hell is going on between you both. It’s obvious, isn’t it? At least to detectives. You know that your relationship with Ryuzaki is more casual than with everyone else… except maybe Light, but the frequency that this man is on your mind is clearly more than platonic. At least to you.
Looking into his eyes, you realize there’s no use in wondering what the hell is happening in that mind of his; his brain is always working out a million different scenarios faster than anybody else.
“Listen, y/n.. I think–”
KNOCK! KNOCK! KNOCK!
Ryuzaki and you both jump, but don’t immediately back away from each other; L takes an extra moment to take in the proximity, his eyes scanning your face one last time before sitting back.
“Yes?”
“Please tell me you two aren’t….doing anything.”
You roll your eyes at the sound of Aizawa’s voice now interrupting for the second time, and hop off the bed to open the bedroom door. He shuffles inside with a hand covering his eyes while you scoff and move to lean against the bed next to L.
“Are you two dressed?”
“Yes.” You drone, arms crossed.
“Both of you?”
Ryuzaki sighs gruffly, “Yes, now what do you need?”
Aizawa drops his hands and takes a document from under his arm; he holds it up and begins paraphrasing. “Basically, we got a response from Sakura TV about airing a response. We need to send in a tape tonight or their schedule will be too tight to fit in our message.”
You huff in frustration. “Seriously? It’s a message from the police regarding the biggest case of the century and they aren’t able to air it on call?”
Aizawa puts his hands up and tucks the paper back under his arm. “Don’t shoot the messenger, ok?” He turns to exit. “Just finish up... whatever you two were doing and I’ll have the group ready to resume in two.”
The door clicks behind him and being alone in the room with L suddenly feels extremely vulnerable. It’s easy when it’s unspoken and mysterious; Aizawa’s point of calling out the behavior makes it suddenly feel real.
“So…” You drop your arms and play with the hem of your button up work shirt, the space quiet except for the clock ticking away in the background.
Ryuzaki stands upright and lets out a long sigh before pushing back his hair in thought; the strands immediately fall back down to their tousled position as soon as his fingers leave his scalp. He looks over at you and opens his mouth once to speak before shutting it again.
“Let’s head back to the meeting…? I’m sure everyone is ready to resume.” You stand upright and head for the door.
Ryuzaki stands motionless as he watches you open and prop open the door, a phrase on the tip of his tongue; he swallows it and makes his way to you. “Yes, let’s head back now.”
The rest of the meeting consists of drafting an official police response for the Second Kira, sorting out the arrest protocol for the DNA results, and dividing up CCTV angles for review. Hours pass by until it’s nearing midnight and yawns begin escaping all of you.
“Alright, let me review this one last time before we call it here.” Mr. Yagami stands and looks down at the paper in his hands. “We are urging the Second Kira to come forward with information on Kira. We are willing to negotiate your sentences if you choose to side with justice and the innocent people of this world. Do not approach Kira out of curiosity; it will get you killed.”
Mr. Yagami drops the paper on the table and the group nods wearily in exhaustion; no one makes any move to complain about the script. Matsuda yawns again, louder than before, and the group collectively looks over at Ryuzaki for permission to end the meeting.
He takes a moment to re-listen to the script in his mind before exhaling and rising to his feet. “Alright, good job everyone. We can call the meeting for tonight– Watari, please send this to Sakura TV, along with a few other major stations, to air during their evening broadcasts.”
Hushed sighs of gratitude escape the group and everyone moves to hastily pack up and head home. Ryuzaki watches the tired movement of his colleagues and turns to nod at Watari. “We’ll also be starting a bit later tomorrow. There’s a few matters I have to attend to by myself in the afternoon… so please rest properly.”
Matsuda’s eyes widen in a giddy surprise at sleeping in while Mogi looks at L a bit curiously; no one wants to question the extra time off though. With a tired yawn and gentle wave, you bid Ryuzaki goodnight and follow the group into the lobby; Watari types something quickly on his lap top before escorting you to the familiar black Mercedes, ready to bring you home.
~~~~~~~
It’s roughly 2:15 in the afternoon when your lecture finally lets out for the day, the professor running over time to further explain the final paper that was rapidly approaching. A paper you have yet to even start given your other priorities at the moment.
You stand outside the student facilities building, the crowd too thick to bother waiting in line for the cafeteria. Hmmm maybe a cafe for late lunch?
Flipping through your contacts on your actual phone, you re-read the message sent by Light earlier in the day.
‘I’ve got an exam today that lets out at 2:30 if you still want to get coffee’
You really could wait for him, but the rumble in your stomach leaves you tempted to simply send him the address of casual restaurant once you find one. Settling to do exactly that, you push off the vending machine you were leaning against and make your way down the campus quad.
Groups of students shuffle together as they walk, and you pull your jacket closer to your body when a breeze picks up. Music playing in your headphones and mind focused on finding food, you barely register the man sitting awkwardly on a university bench facing the footpath.
Nearly tripping over yourself in a double take, the man dressed in an oversized off-white sweatshirt to stay warm, light wash baggy jeans, with a baseball hat and sunglasses is clearly Ryuzaki. Catching yourself before you can fall onto the bricks, he turns his head in your direction and parts his mouth in a happy-surprised expression. Instantly, he stands up and makes his way to you, slipping his hand around your waist when he approaches; his fingers still tremble the moment he makes contact.
Your mind begins to short circuit before you raise an eyebrow and stare at him incredulously. “What the hell? What are you doing here??”
His grip on your waist tightens a slight bit as he guides you down the footpath past groups of students. “What? I can’t see my girlfriend in between classes?”
His voice is whispered and despite the attempt at acting casual, he’s as stiff as a board next to you as his body is pressed against your own. You blink a few times in silence as your brain is focused on only two things:
We aren’t really dating
Is this not supposed to be lowkey to only appease the task force?
Peeking at his typical unreadable expression behind his glasses, you sigh in defeat and pivot to take his hand in yours in an attempt to lessen the anxiety in his stance. His hands are smooth but extremely cold; his body relaxes a bit at the distance, but his cheeks are pink at the action.
“Of course not. I’m just surprised to see you here is all.”
Ryuzaki swallows thickly causing his Adam’s apple bobs at the motion; you stare at the erotic sight and have to peel your eyes off his throat to avoid looking too obvious. With his hand still securely holding your own, he tugs you gently down a stray path and towards a more secluded part of campus. You follow contently at his side as he leads you to an empty area near a tree on the quad; his hand doesn’t release yours when you both stop.
“Ok, I need to let you know something important. I’ve been having Mogi trail Light recently.”
You stand next to him and lean against the tree raising an eyebrow “Huh? Wasn’t that mine, then Matsuda’s job?”
Ryuzaki rolls his eyes from over his glasses and turns his attention to the emptier walking path; his eyes scanning each person walking by. “Just– listen, ok?”
With a shrug of your shoulders, L huddles a bit closer to you after peeling his stare off the students passing by. “This needed to be in person in case either one of them is here, ok? A woman stopped by Light's house last night.”
You open your eyes in surprise and tilt your head to the side slightly. “Takada? The one I mentioned a few weeks ago?”
Ryuzaki shakes his head and stands upright to hover over you, blocking your vision of the campus; he’s effectively shielding you from anyone else seeing you as they walk.
“No, this one doesn’t match your description. Mogi described her as blonde with a dark gothic attire; does that match anyone you’ve seen on campus before?”
He blocks your line of sight when you lean to peer around him at the quad; you raise an eyebrow and lean back once again to shake your head. “No…? I’ve never seen anyone like that– at least around Light for that matter.”
His frame remains protectively towering over you and you're actively scanning his hidden features searching for some clarification as to what was happening. “Why are you telling me this, Ryuzaki?”
“Has he mentioned anything or anyone to you?”
“What– No. He’s always been pretty private.”
L stares at you for a moment in silence, and when he steps closer to further block your line of sight, you push off the tree and stand taller in defense. “What’s going on? You’re freaking me out.”
“I have a very bad feeling about this… all of this,” he sighs, pulling down his sunglasses slightly to show you eyes full of genuine concern.
You look between them in a gentle gaze and your voice softens to barely above a whisper. “Why are you here Ryuzaki?”
Large and dark doe eyes flick between yours in a vulnerable expression, his lips dropping to a frown. “Isn’t it obvious…?” He exhales slightly. “It’s dangerous to be on campus right now. If the woman Mogi saw is potentially the Second Kira.. that means she has a keen sense of sight or recognition we don’t.”
You blink slowly. “Ah.. so she might be able to snuff me out if I hang around Light.”
Ryuzaki nods once and for the first time in a while, genuine fear flows through your veins. Being spotted by someone with a mysterious ability to kill without even seeing her makes you recall every interaction you’ve had on campus; each one comes up blank for her description though.
“I can’t mention this yet to the group; only you and Mogi are aware of this situation, so it’d be too risky to speak over the phone or text. Besides… Aizawa is already on our case everytime we’re together so I couldn’t pull you aside tonight for something like this.”
Wait. Then why is he–?
You shoot your head up at the man in front of you; with the hand still holding his, you give a gentle squeeze. “What about you? You of all people shouldn’t be here!”
Ryuzaki tilts his head slightly to the side. “Huh? I’m here telling you the same thing, to be extremely cautious. My life isn’t explicitly worth more than yours.”
It definitely is though… Right?
You shake your head to protest but he speaks again. “Listen y/n… you’re important to m–”
“Ryuzaki?”
Shit.
A voice that can only belong to Light rings out behind L and you both immediately stiffen; with the same flexibility as a marble statue, L slowly spins around. You take in the desolate area of the opening you’re standing at and mentally slam your head into a wall. You’re right in front of the fucking criminology building.
“I forgot that you technically go here too! It’s been a while since you’ve attended any classes though.”
Light’s voice gets louder as he approaches to stand next to Ryuzaki; his gaze widens when he notices you standing sheltered in front of him. “Oh, y/n you’re here too! I didn’t even see you earlier.”
You give an awkward wave with your free hand while L shrugs as casually as he can given the fact you both were fearing for your lives 30 seconds ago. “I thought it would be nice to get some air and enjoy the campus for our extended rest this afternoon.”
Light hangs onto to every word, his mind obviously searching for hidden meanings before his gaze lands on where you and Ryuzaki are still connected. The stare at your hands makes you want to pull yours back in awkward embarassment, but L tightens his grips in yours.
“Oh my goodness– I can’t believe Matsuda was right!” He breaks into a laugh.
Great. If Matsuda caught on after last night when Aizawa shooed him out of the room, you can’t even imagine the suspicions of the rest of the task force. The image of Mr. Yagami’s concerned face makes you shudder into yourself.
With your face bright red and words strained in your throat, L steps forward and pivots to further the distance between you and Light. “Yes, I suppose it was only a matter of time until you all caught on to our relationship. The truth is, I couldn’t wait to see her again and had to come to campus to visit.”
Light raises an eyebrow and studies your surprised expression from over Ryuzaki’s shoulder, a coy grin spreading on his lips. “Ah, is that so? To be honest I’m really surprised. I didn’t think you were her type.”
“Yes, well life is always surprising isn’t it? She was the one that actually asked me out initially.”
Huh? You stare between the two in silence; the conversation has effectively isolated you out. Again.
Light crosses his arms and sighs airly. “That’s very interesting; she’s always had a way of making her feelings known though.”
It’s a not-so-subtle dig at the freshness of you and Ryuzakis’ relationship; the grip on your hand tightens again. Looking between the two men you sigh in exhaustion; it’s a bonafide dick measuring contest.
“But anyways Ryuzaki, I was going to ask her to grab coffee.”
“That’s not needed, we actually have plans for her lunch break.”
“Maybe dinner then. There’s a special at her favorite off-campus take-out place tonight.”
Your stomach rumbles at the mention of food and you silently remiss that your afternoon lunch time is being replaced with the bickering of the world’s pettiest men.
Ryuzaki doesn’t miss the way Light is consistently highlighting the fact that he knows more about you, but it doesn’t change the way he still stands protectively in front of you.
“Don’t you both get out of class at different times? I don’t want to further delay our evening meeting.”
“Ok, ok–” You speak up and walk beside Ryuzaki to break up the conversation before punches start getting thrown. “Light, I’ll see you in between the next class and at the meeting. You–” you pivot to L, “I’ll see you tonight.”
The way ‘tonight’ rolls off your tongue causes a slight stutter in the breathing of Ryuzaki who turns away with a defeated blush. Light opens his mouth to counter once again, but peels his head towards the criminology building when Takada yells his name from the main entrance.
His eyebrow twitching at the way she calls him over, Light swallows thickly and bids a swift ‘goodbye’ before jogging over to the woman. You stand still connected to Ryuzaki as you watch him greet her with his usual plastered smile and suave body language; Light occasionally looks back over at the two of you with a suspicious gaze.
Relaxing slightly at the distance, Ryuzaki sighs slowly and reaches into his back pocket to pull up Watari’s contact on his phone. “Good, it worked.”
You whip your head up to face him. “Huh? What worked?”
“The gamble. This gamble.” He squeezes your hand slightly and turns to you. “If the Second Kira were to see you, it’s likely you would be in grave danger.”
You shift your weight to one leg and drop your tone to heavy sarcasm. “Yea, thanks for the reminder.”
Shaking his head slightly Ryuzaki lifts your connected hands upward to your gaze. “Yes, but now there’s some leverage against it. Us. If you were to now spontaneously die, it would only further point to someone who knows we’re together.”
The mention of your potential unpreventable death doesn’t bring you any relief. “Wait, but doesn’t like half the campus know we’re together now that we’re out here holding hands?”
Ryuzaki shakes his head. “Those people don’t count; they don’t know who I am, and none of the students here fit the description Mogi has provided so far.”
Ah.
You drop your gaze to your interconnected hands and blink as you work out the logistics. “I see. So if I were to randomly die now, after not doing anything suspicious like attending Aoyama, it would be from someone who knows my relationship to ‘L’.’
Ryuzaki grins and peers at you from above his sunglasses. “Sharp as usual, y/n; you’re correct. The only people who know that the detective ‘L’ is in a relationship, are the people within the task force. So if this mystery woman really is the Second Kira, and she’s never seen you before, the only reason she would kill you is because she sought you out from the orders of Kira. And that Kira would have to already know your role and relationship with the task force and me.”
AKA, Light would have to be Kira in order for that to come to fruition.
Ryuzaki looks back over at Light and then gazes back down at your hands. “If she’s willing to kill an innocent person based on a single order from Light, there's a chance she’s extremely loyal to him. So… it’s also best to prevent her from being jealous.”
You nod once but notice the slight venom in Ryuzaki’s gaze at the man across the quad. The way his eyes burn a hole in the side of his head makes you wonder exactly whose jealousy you should be wary of.
Sensing his stress, you run a thumb over his knuckles absentmindedly in a comforting gesture; Ryuzaki’s cheeks warm up, but his hand no longer trembles at the contact. “But what about you, aren’t you nervous? I can’t offer the same protection.”
L turns back over to you and takes in your genuine concern and rubs his own thumb over yours experimentally for a moment before responding. “Nervous? Heh, yea… I guess you could say that. But as long as the group has your keen deductive skills, we’ll catch Kira and confirm the safety of both of us.”
Your hands warms at the friction of his thumb and the moment is strangely comforting despite the topic being the both of your potential premature deaths. “So we’ll have to really commit to this, huh? It’ll take a lot of consistent convincing to make a group of detectives actually believe it.”
Ryuzaki looks down at your hands and plays with your fingers once again, testing the waters to see how each action feels against his own skin. “As long as you're ok with it. For me… there’s no one else I’d rather ‘fake-date’.”
A scoff escapes your lips and you chuckle slightly. “Do you even know other girls?”
“...No-” he resigns “So I guess I got pretty lucky that the only girl I do know is you.”
Your heart falters slightly and you push him back with a laugh escaping your lips. “Ok, that was actually kinda smooth, Ryuzaki.”
His gaze lingers on your lips when you laugh, and it takes a fair amount of willpower to peel his sights away with a giddy glint in his eyes. “Really?”
“Yea–” a few more chuckles escape you.
Standing close together and taking turns chuckling slightly, you notice the silence; an easy and comfortable feeling is shared between you both. It’s the perfect moment to wonder what this is, in reality– not just your fake dating scenario. Before you can open your lips, a familiar black Sedan pulls up to the ‘passenger pick up area’ right in front of the small campus gate and a rumble escapes your stomach at the same time.
You and Ryuzaki stand there for a moment, hands still connected despite it being obviously time to part ways, though neither of you really want to.
With a defeated smile you take your hand out of his and immediately notice the empty feeling filling your senses. “Well I guess I should grab a quick convenience store lunch… I only have 15 minutes left before my next class.”
Ryuzaki opens and closes his fist a few times at his side, as if he were trying to recreate the grasp he once had on you. “Ah, right. Sorry about this hold up…. My lovely girlfriend?” he ends unsurely.
“Ok, we’re gonna work on that.”
“Right, that’s a good idea.”
You both stand together despite no longer holding hands; you can see Watari gazing in your direction through the car windshield and Ryuzaki gruffly sighs at seeing Light watching you both.
He shifts awkwardly in his shoes. “So.. how do we end this convincingly? Do we uh, hug?”
Heart rate shooting up, you shiver and cough slightly. Ok, this is apparently about to happen. It was bound to at some point considering the situation, right?
You bring your hands up slightly and step forward, heart rate nearly cracking a rib from the intensity. “Ok, uh… just– just relax. Ok? Put your hands…here.”
Ryuzaki blinks idly, for once in his life having no clue what was happening, as you guide his hands to your waist. Gently bringing your arms around his shoulders and lazily wrapping them around his neck, you tug his head in closer. Sweet candy is the scent of his breath while large nervous eyes pour into your own before shamelessly staring at your mouth.
Nodding once to confirm his comfort, you return the gesture and tilt your head to the side and flutter your eyes shut while closing the gap.
The kiss is slow and gentle; his lips are stiff and awkward as they meet your own. You peck his lips a few times before lingering the kiss and attempting to set a motion; his hands grip your hips in a vice at the shock.
It’s awkward and borderline unreciprocated; pulling back slightly with a disappointed feeling at the lackluster effort on his part, Ryuzaki opens his eyes and looks at you worriedly.
His gaze moves between your eyes and pulls you in closer despite your lips no longer touching as if he’s upset it’s already over.
“Wait. We need to…make it believable right?” He asks with a yearning expression in his eyes.
Blinking slightly in surprise but nodding nonetheless, Ryuzak hastily leans back down to eagerly connect your lips to his once again. The motion pushes your head back slightly as the intensity is surprising given his initial reaction to the first kiss.
Lips molding against yours with fervor, his hands pull you into his pelvis while you fall into a comfortable rhythm. It’s almost like you’re kissing a completely different person; each time you pull back for a breath Ryuzaki leans in to chase your lips and cut off the oxygen once again.
Was the first kiss just a trial? It’s as if he took the first one as a sample to learn.
And fuck was he a fast learner because the way his thumbs rub small circles on your pelvic bones leave your mind fuzzy; you can barely remember if any of your exes kissed you like this. Hands still wrapped around his neck, you sink your fingertips into the mess of hair escaping under his baseball hat and run your nails across his lower scalp.
The motion leaves him pressing forward to push your back into the tree while his head stays dipped down to your height in an effort to keep you connected as long as possible. Sugar coated lips leave you wanting more; tugging him closer and arching your back at the contact, you tilt your hips into his and your cunt drips pathetically into the fabric of your panties.
It’s more than a kiss at this point; and fuck is it anything but casual. A complete erotic makeout session happening on campus with students now definitely pausing to scoff at the excessive PDA. The kisses are relatively tame, your tongue moves to swipe at his bottom lip, but he clearly is unaware of what that motion is indicating.
Instead, he continues the hypnotic rhythm shared between you as if breaking the kiss would kill him. When he presses forward once again, you can feel the stiffness of his cellphone in his front pocket bruise against your hips; in a shock at the feeling, you stutter slightly and he backs up hastily.
Awkwardly coughing and stumbling backwards, Ryuzaki’s cheeks are bright red and his pupils are blown wide with predatory desire as he watches the way you pant to catch your breath. Hair slightly messed up from the way your head was grinding against the tree, you run your hands through a few times while L anxiously moves to tug the fabric of his sweatshirt lower.
Light stands watching from across the way, a fuming expression on his face as Takada continues talking and Watari moves to raise cellphone to his ear. On cue, a ringer emits from Ryuzaki’s pocket and he sheepishly tries to revert back into character.
“Right. I should take this.. Probably a work call. Ha ha–”
You blow air through your nose in amusement and nod once, watching the way he raises his hand to wave goodbye and promptly speed walks to the car. It’s when you’re pushing off the tree to head towards the convenience store on the edge of campus that you notice Ryuzaki reach into his back pocket to retrieve his cell phone.
Fuck…there’s no way this is casual.
i am single-handedly running the L agenda (jkjk)
with that being said lemme scoot in here and request something that actually came to me in a dream (giving prophecy). this is literally the second time it has happened to me
i just love the idea of the task force continuously embarrassing themselves in front of snarky girlfriend. like these are grown men with many years of investigation under their belt and they get destroyed by someone in their young 20s lyke
that’s how specific the dream was for me. literally no more details 😔
but i trust you bestie.
also so i don’t spam your inbox i am also requesting on the side a lil f*ngering moment if you will. L’s fingers in the manga really speak to me on a personal level 😏
hello, my favorite follower<33 missed u in my inbox. reporting for duty to carry out the L agenda 🫡
for this writing, i pulled that one l, light, and misa date from the anime and put my own spin on it- featuring Y/N as well. i tried my best to directly quote the anime, idk how well i did tho😭 but it’s the same idea, basically. hope you enjoy💚
ೄྀ࿐ fem!reader, nsfw ahead, f!ngering, light and l fight😭ˊˎ-
It was clear that the day was going to be weird when Aizawa, a respectable and work-oriented member of the task force, came into the headquarters with no pants on. Just white boxers decorated with red polka-dots.
Soichiro glanced absently in Aizawa’s direction upon hearing him come in, then did a double take, expression questioning. “Uh… Aizawa… did something happen?”
Matsuda had the same reaction as Soichiro. “Uh- where’d your pants go?”
Pants and belt slung around his arm, Aizawa trudged towards the other two men, looking exasperated. “Stupid security system wouldn’t let me in. In my opinion, Ryuzaki’s gone a little overboard with the security measures.”
“I’m fairly certain we’re past the point of overboard- this is the Kira investigation, after all,” Soichiro pointed out:
“Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Aizawa admitted, stopping in his tracks to hurriedly put his pants and belt back on before sitting in a chair between the two men. He searched around the room curiously, noticing an absent presence. “Hey- where’d Ryuzaki and everyone else go?”
Matsuda gestured to the screen displayed in front of them. “Oh- Ryuzaki, Misa-Misa, Light, and Y/N are on a date upstairs.”
Aizawa let out a groan. “For God’s sake, Matsuda, will you stop it with this Misa-Misa crap?”
Matsuda offered a sheepish grin. “Ah- yeah, sure.”
“Man… this has got to be the lamest date I’ve ever been on,” Misa groaned beside you, arm propped up on the back of the sofa and her head resting in the palm of her hand.
“Oh, don’t mind us,” L offered, twirling a fork around in his mouth. “Just act like we’re not even here.”
Misa frowned, crossing her arms. “This could have been a cute double date- with me and Light and you and Y/N- even if you guys are super stalker-y. But Light’s sitting over there with L handcuffed to him while I’m stuck over here with Y/N. It’s like this totally fucked-up double date where L is dating Light and I’m with Y/N.” Misa glared at you, and it took everything in you to keep your expression stoic in return. “By the way, I don’t swing that way, so, like, if that’s what you were thinking-“
“Misa, shut up,” you cut her off harshly, gaze as stony as ever. Then you addressed both Misa and Light. “Listen, we get you’re uncomfortable, but you both understand the circumstances we’re in right now,” you told Misa sternly, also sending a look in Light’s direction. “This is only necessary.”
“Yeah, Misa, it’s probably best we not protest it,” Light agreed, gesturing towards you. “Obviously, we both know we aren’t Kira, but given the evidence, it’ll be difficult to change L’s mind about that fact.”
“Ugh, do we have to talk about that boring crap? Light, all we ever do is talk about Kira, Kira, Kira. Why can’t we talk about normal boyfriend and girlfriend stuff?” Misa whined petulantly, and despite the fact that this “date” had just started, you already found yourself wanting to absolutely deck Amane.
“Well, if you haven’t noticed, that’s all there is to talk about,” Light countered, sounding a little agitated. “Neither of us go to school anymore, and I’m very literally handcuffed to L.” He lifted his hand to indicate the chains around his wrist, raising an absent L’s hand in the air as well.
L was obviously thinking about other things, his dark eyes fixated on the slice of cake, adorned with a small red strawberry, sitting on the coffee table. “Are you going to eat that cake, Amane?” L inquired, pointing at the slice with his fork.
Misa glanced at the pastry disdainfully before rolling her eyes to the ceiling again. “No. Cake makes you fat. I’m not gonna eat it.”
“Well, I find that you don’t gain any weight as long as you burn it off with brainpower.”
Misa bristled. “Huh? So now you call me stupid?”
L shrugged and started to reach for the plate, but then a light appeared in Misa’s eyes and she leaned over and snatched the plate last minute. “Hold on. You can have the cake if you-“ Misa glared at you from the corner of her eye- “and Y/N promise to leave me and Light alone.”
“Yeah, right,” you scoffed, folding your arms across your chest. “Even if we did do that, we’d still be watching on surveillance cameras.”
Misa whirled around to face you, cheeks red with fury and pink lips in a pout. “Well- then we’ll turn all the lights off and get under the bed covers! Right, Light?”
Light made a face. “Misa…”
“Infrared cameras exist, you know,” L replied vacantly, still focused on the cake.
Misa recoiled, sticking her tongue out as if she was a toddler. “Ewwww! You pervert! Will you just stop it with your creepy hobby?”
“You can call me whatever you like. Last chance for cake,” L announced, standing up and scooping the plate off of the table. Misa hmphed and turned her nose up.
There was silence for a little while- Misa fuming while L started on his cake, you and Light simply silent. But then Light spoke up, turning to look at L with a confused expression on his face.
“What’s wrong with you?” Light queried, tone a little bit accusing and making your focus shift to him instantly. “I thought moving here was supposed to help us to catch Kira. But since we’ve been here, you don’t seem all that motivated to me.”
L paused for a moment, swallowing a bite of cake and setting his fork down. “Hm. Not motivated…” He trailed off, in thought, before facing Light and replying, “You’re right- actually, I’m depressed.”
You almost flinched. With your status as L’s partner, you’d obviously noticed the shift in L’s overall mood, and you two had already had a very similar conversation to the one you believed L and Light were about to have. However- you knew for a fact that Light was bound to react a lot worse than you did.
Light, meanwhile, pressed on. “Depressed? What for?”
L dragged the fork along his teeth before glancing up at the ceiling and answering. “Well, he began dubiously, “briefly all this time I thought you were Kira, and my entire case hinged on that fact.” He sighed. “I guess I just can’t get pass the fact that my deduction was wrong. Although having said that, I’m still suspicious of you. That’s why we’re wearing these.” L lifted his arm that was attached to Light’s, making the handcuffs jingle. “And we also know that Kira can control people’s actions. Which means… it’s highly likely that Kira was controlling your actions so that I would suspect you. If I assume both you and Misa were being controlled by him, then everything we’ve observed so far makes a lot more sense to me.”
“So… if what you’re thinking is correct, that means Misa and I were Kira at one point, right?”
L glanced at Light sideways. “Yes. I don’t think we could have been wrong about that. The two of you are Kira.”
Both Light and Misa frowned, Misa pouting in a stubborn expression, but much to your relief, remaining silent.
L continued his monologue, although you could tell he was talking more to himself than to Light at this point. “If what I was thinking was correct, when your confinement began you were Kira. I don’t believe it’s coincidence that as soon as you were imprisoned, all the killings stopped. Until then, everything pointed to you being Kira. But after two weeks… criminals actually began dying again. Based on that evidence, I can only conclude that Kira’s power passes between people.”
Light’s expression softened, and he nodded thoughtfully. “That’s an interesting idea. But if it’s true,” he noted with a frown, “it’ll be nearly impossible for us to catch Kira.”
L nodded as well, staring straight ahead. “Yes. That’s why I’m overwhelmed. Even if we catch someone under his control, they are likely to lose their powers and any memory of their crimes. So in the end, pursuing them becomes futile.”
Light was quiet for a little bit. “But… at this point we have no way of knowing if that’s the case,” he offered halfheartedly. “So cheer up, would you?”
L? Cheer up? You almost couldn’t stifle your laugh.
L seemed surprised by this for a second, but shook his head slowly. “Cheer up? No. I’m sorry, I can’t. It’s probably better if I just stop trying so hard. By chasing Kira so desperately, we’re just putting our lives at risk for nothing.” Again, he twirled the fork around in his mouth, gaze directed at his feet. “Yes…it’s just a waste of time.”
There was more silence- but this time, you felt how tense it was rather than thoughtful, and you suddenly felt a little uneasy.
Then, Light: “Ryuzaki…”
“Hm?”
Your head snapped towards Light a split second too late. The next thing you heard was the sound of Light’s fist meeting L’s face- hard, and suddenly the two of them were flying- L backward and Light forward, unwillingly pulled along by the handcuffs that joined the two. Ryuzaki knocked into the table just before hitting the ground, and it flipped over, sending L’s unfinished slice of cake to the floor.
You and Misa both got to your feet abruptly, and you could hear Misa’s whimpers of disgust as she accidentally stepped in the smushed cake. Misa, however, was far from your concerns. “What the hell?” you demanded, eyes furiously darting from L on the ground to Light, bent over and breathing hard. “Light, what do you think you’re doing?!”
Light whirled around to face you. “What? You can’t tell me you wouldn’t do the same thing!” Then he turned back to glare daggers at L, whose eyes were wide with surprise and his hand cradling his cheek where Light had punched him. “That’s enough! You don’t feel like doing anything just because your genius deduction was wrong and I’m not Kira?!”
L stared up at Light, the look in his eyes unreadable. “Hm… perhaps I phrased that the wrong way. I meant that it would be pointless for us to make a move, so why even bother…”
Your face twisted with annoyance. Good grief. Couldn’t L see he was just adding fuel to the fire? Half the time you didn’t know if he was genuinely unaware of his actions or just doing it on purpose.
“Man, I didn’t think this date could possibly get any worse…” Misa whined from behind you, now wearing one sock because of the cakey mess on the other one.
“Misa, be quiet, for Christ’s sake,” you snapped, and Misa recoiled before eventually shutting up, plopping herself down on the couch and putting on a petulant pout. “You two- stop being ridiculous and get off the floor. Can’t you see this isn’t helping anything?”
L peered at you from behind Light’s angry form. “You know, Y/N is really right…”
“Don’t change the subject,” Light snapped. “If we don’t chase Kira, he’ll never be caught. Is that what you want? If you’re just gonna give up, then why did you involve all those innocent people? More importantly, what was the point of putting Misa and me behind bars?”
L mulled over this for a moment. “I understand. But still, whatever the reason…”
You knew exactly what was coming next when L slowly climbed off the ground, a dark twinkle in his eye. And he struck Light back, fist buried in his eye and eliciting a pained grunt from the student.
“An eye for an eye, my friend.”
Again, the two men flew- but now it was Light’s turn to fly backward and L forward, the handcuffs holding fast. They both hit the floor with a massive thud, and you knew without a doubt that the task force downstairs could hear you all now.
Why aren’t those idiots doing anything?
Misa let out another dismayed cry, and you finally decided you had to intervene. Before either one of them could land another blow, you got in between the two, preventing them from reaching each other.
“Are you both insane?” you snarled, giving both of them equally vaporizing glares. “What the hell are you fighting like some schoolyard children for? Can’t you see how idiotic the both of you look? Blindly swinging instead of effectively talking about this?”
The pair paused, seemingly taking your words into account, but stares still fixed intently on each other, and you knew they both were aching to swing again.
Finally, L spoke up, but it was directed at Light. “It’s not my deduction that was wrong,” he panted, eyes burning into Light’s. “The fact is, I can say that Light Yagami is Kira and Misa Amane is the second Kira. But it won’t be enough to solve the case. And that’s why I’m a little depressed. Is that so unreasonable?”
Light wasted no time retorting, “Yes. Yes, it is. Besides, you said it yourself. It is as if you won’t be satisfied unless I am Kira.”
L considered this, briefly averting his gaze from him. “Hmm…I won’t be satisfied unless you’re Kira.” Another lapse into silence. “Well… there may be some truth to that. In fact, now that you mention it… you’re right.” Now L’s stare were more piercing than ever. “I think I wanted you to be Kira.”
Before you could even blink, Light’s fist had slammed into L’s eye, but the detective seemed unfazed this time.
“As I said before, an eye for an eye,” he rasped. “I’m a lot stronger than I look, you know.” And he raised his fist to return the blow.
But now you’d had enough of watching these two grown men brawling like middle school kids. They’d ignored your previous words and warnings, but they would soon learn that that was a mistake.
So, as the two went flying into the wall yet again, you darted in between them at a speed you didn’t realize you were capable of, took hold of the handcuff chain, and just when Light moved to hit L again, you yanked as hard as you could on the cold metal chain. The combined force of your hand and the growing strain on the chain from Light and L jerking it around made it snap right in two, sending the detective and scholar positively soaring in opposite directions. Misa let out a shriek and rushed to Light’s side as he slammed into the floor with a very painful-sounding thump, but you didn’t move to help L when he barreled into the wall for what had to be the fifth time in the past ten minutes.
When the chaos finally settled, both men were still on the ground, wincing from their collective injuries and struggling to get up. One of the legs on the table that Light had rammed into was actually beginning to splinter, and the cake L had dropped earlier had made a big mess on the carpet what with Misa stepping on it and trailing it across the carpet. The wall L was flopped over against had a gaping hole where L’s head had hit, the cracks spreading from behind L’s hair like some twisted spider. And finally, there was you, standing exactly where you’d been standing with the severed chain dangling from your closed hand, staring at the metal like you yourself couldn’t believe what had just happened.
It was totally silent for at least five minutes straight. Nobody moved, taking in all that had just occurred and the damage in the room. But the awestruck silence was disrupted when the phone, which had slid off of the table near the spot where L was sprawled out now, rang.
At first, nobody moved to answer it. But when it kept ringing, L at last picked it up, holding it between his index finger and thumb like always.
“Hello?”
The voice from the phone was unclear from where you were, but you could tell it was Matsuda.
“Ryuzaki, I’ve got great news!” he chirped, his overly enthusiastic voice making you cringe slightly. “Misa-misa’s number one in “Eighteen" magazine’s reader popularity poll!”
Matsuda was usually too invested in totally useless things at totally inappropriate times, but this time you could see right through him. He’d heard the chaos going on upstairs and had wanted to try and de-escalate the situation, so here he was with this stupid stuff.
To yourself, you muttered, “Jesus Christ.”
L blinked at you and then blinked at the phone. “Ah. I see.”
“And get this- she’s gonna get a lead role in Nishinaka’s next movie!”
Light’s head popped over the toppled table, face bruised. “What was that?”
L promptly dropped the phone to the ground . “Matsuda’s acting stupid again.”
Light chuckled dryly. “Well… that is his specialty.”
Yet another moment of silence. Then, a tiny voice from the phone L hadn’t hung up properly: “I can hear you, you know.”
It had been several hours since the earlier incident, everyone from the task force having gone home and Misa sleeping in her hotel room. You and L were the only ones still awake, perched beside each other on the desk in front of the monitors; the normally bustling center of operations was now quiet and dark. Since you’d broken the handcuffs earlier and L had yet to replace them, you got to be alone with him for the first time in a while.
“You know,” L spoke up, breaking the calm silence, “I wasn’t expecting you to jump into me and Light’s brawl like that earlier.”
You gave L a look. “How could I not? You were both embarrassing yourselves. That was completely senseless behavior. I wasn’t expecting you to indulge Light’s impulsivity.”
L cocked his head at you a little questioningly. “You sound pretty ticked off.”
You blinked, realizing that he was right, and let out a long exhale. When you spoke again, your tone was softer, but your words were still harsh. “Being around Misa all day irritates me, anyway. You both acting like idiots didn’t really help my mood. And now we’ve got a busted-up hotel room with a hole in the wall and the broken table.”
L considered this, then nodded slowly. “Yes. That hurt, by the way.”
You let out a wry chuckle. “I bet.”
Neither of you spoke again for a little while- but you still felt L place his hand on your thigh.
“What are you doing?”
L’s eyes lifted to meet yours. “I figured you’d want to unwind a little. Is that alright?”
You paused for a moment. “Yes,” you replied airily, squirming just a little bit with your legs swinging from the table.
Nodding to himself, L moved his hand up your thigh, opting not to indulge in foreplay and teasing. Brazenly, he flipped up the lacy hem of the slip you’d put on to go to bed, and you felt a shiver go down your spine when his hand made direct contact with your skin. Carefully, he reached for your panties and tugged them out of his way before dipping two slender fingers in your rapidly dampening entrance, making your back arch slightly.
You bit your lower lip to stifle any sounds lest you two alert Watari, making the only audible noise in the room the wet sounds of L gently moving his fingers back and forth, slightly curled and brushing against your sweet spot. Despite your efforts to silence yourself, as he slowly picked up the pace and you neared your climax, a few breathy moans escaped your lips anyway, and you could feel the familiar heat building in your lower body and spreading across your face.
You allowed yourself a broken gasp when you came, a small amount of thin, sticky liquid flooding from your dripping hole and coating L’s fingers. His fingers slowed inside you, helping you make the most of your orgasm, and when you’d finally come down from your high he gingerly withdrew his fingers and watched the wetness pool beneath your slip and dampen your underwear. Then he promptly popped his index and middle fingers into his mouth, his tongue swirling around them and licking your taste from his skin.
After a minute or two L turned to look at you again. “Well, you look like you feel better.”
You instinctively dropped your eyes, uselessly fighting the color spreading across your cheeks. “I guess I do…”
L’s eyes were wide as he stared at you, his expression betraying nothing. “No matter how many times we do this, you’re always so flustered after you finish…”
You groaned and dropped your face into your hands, and L laughed.
surveillance — light yagami
summary: L is determined to catch light in the act of being kira. his eyes are glued to the screen, even during vulnerable moments
warning: nsfw!, voyeurism, L is watching for the sake of "surveillance", dom!light, light is kira, petnames, all characters are of age!
L sits hunched over in his chair, his posture rigid as his dark eyes remain fixed on the numerous screens in front of him. each monitor shows different angles of light’s room, capturing every inch of the space. he’s been staring at the feeds for hours now, waiting for something, anything, that would betray light’s mask of innocence. his fingers play with a sugar cube, spinning it absentmindedly between them. light’s routine, as usual, is methodical, almost too perfect—studying, writing, working in a way that seems almost rehearsed. but tonight, there’s something different.
you.
L’s eyes narrow as light moves towards you. light knows about the cameras. he has to. " can almost feel it in the subtle shifts of light's movements, in the way his hand rests a little too casually on your waist as you return from the bathroom, freshly ready for bed.
“we’re being watched” light whispers, his lips grazing your ear, his tone as smooth as ever. his arms snake around your waist, pulling you into him. you tense for a moment, startled by the knowledge, but light is quick to ease your nerves, his soft kiss on your cheek masking the weight of the confession. “just act normal” he murmurs, though there’s a dangerous gleam in his eyes, as if he relishes the thought of putting on a performance.
you manage a smile, though your heart races in your chest. you try not to glance at the room around you, imagining L’s gaze lingering on every corner. he will stop at nothing, it seems, to confirm his suspicions about light. and now, you're part of the game.
light’s touch becomes bolder, his fingers brushing over your skin with a deliberate slowness, savoring each moment. he pulls back slightly, just enough to look into your eyes, his hand lifting to stroke your cheek, a gesture that appears romantic, but there’s something more behind it. lust and control, all tied up in a neat facade. his lips hover over yours, and you know what’s coming next—the show is about to begin.
when his mouth finally meets yours, it’s slow, calculated. he kisses you with purpose, every movement precise, as if savoring the feel of your lips while knowing L is witnessing every second of it. you follow his lead, leaning into him as the kiss deepens.
L watches from the other side of the screen, his eyes narrowing at the scene unfolding in front of him. he’s observed light before, viewing him in seemingly private moments, but this… it’s something else. something far more intimate. and yet, L can’t look away. he tells himself it's part of the investigation, but there’s a quiet part of him that’s drawn in and leaves him unable to click away.
light’s hands move with ease, slipping under your shirt, feeling the heat of your skin as he pulls you closer. you shiver beneath his touch, momentarily forgetting L's watchful eyes, but light never forgets. he’s always aware, always in control. his fingers find the hem of your shirt, pulling it up and over your head before he kisses you again, more intensely this time. his hands roam your body, feeling, exploring, as he pulls you closer against him.
the thrill of being watched lingers in the air, and you feel the weight of it, the tension between performance and reality. light’s grip tightens on your shoulders, his mouth moving against yours with increasing intensity. you gasp against his lips, your mind spinning, unsure of where the lines between the act and your real feelings blur.
your hands move to light’s chest, feeling the hard muscles beneath his shirt. you pull him closer, the need between you growing as the tension rises in the room. your fingers unbutton his crisp white shirt, letting it fall to the floor. light’s fingers trace your spine as he kisses down your neck, lips hot and demanding. you sigh at the feeling, whispering his name as a quiet beg for more.
light’s lips move from your mouth to your neck, kissing a path down as he slips you out of your shorts, his hands moving quickly, but not without purpose. he’s in control, always, and now he’s showing L exactly that. he’s quick to bend down and pick you up, his large hands on your cheeks as he brings you to his bed. you let out a small squeal at the sudden movement and light chuckles against you. you squirm beneath him as his hips grind into yours, his hardness pressing against you through his pants, teasing you, driving you wild.
you snake one of your hands into his hair as he grinds his hips into yours. he continues to kiss you as he grows hard in his dress pants. his hands travel across your skin, eventually making their way to the clasp of your bra and slowly undoing it, along with your underwear.
L's breath is barely audible as he leans closer to the screen. he can see the way light’s hands move, the way you respond to him. he’s trying to understand what’s happening here, but more than that—he’s trying to figure out if light knows he’s watching.
light, of course, gives nothing away. he’s careful, even now, maintaining that perfect facade. but you, on the other hand, are more raw, more vulnerable. your reactions aren’t as calculated, and that’s what makes it all the more exciting.
you reach for his belt, eager to even the playing field, but light’s hand catches yours, pushing you back against the mattress with a smirk. “not yet” he teases, his voice low and commanding. since becoming kira, his dominance has only grown, both in and out of the bedroom. before, he would let you take control sometimes, let you lead, but now? now he’s in charge, and there’s no mistaking it.
he undoes his belt himself, removing his pants and boxers in one fluid motion, and before you can catch your breath, he’s lining himself up with your entrance. there’s no warning, no slow buildup. light thrusts into you in one smooth, deliberate motion, and you cry out, the sudden stretch making your body arch into him.
light’s fingers trail down your sides as he pulls your body flush with his. he sets a rhythm that’s both torturous and perfect. every movement, every sound, is a performance for l’s eyes, a show that light is directing with precision.
L leans closer to the monitor, his usually steady gaze darkening as he takes in every detail—the way light moves against you, the way your body reacts to his touch. it’s impossible for l to look away now, his curiosity mixing with something else, something he can’t quite define but doesn’t dare to acknowledge.
you bite your lip, trying to stifle your moans, aware of the thin walls of the yagami household. the last thing you want is to wake mrs. yagami or sayu. but light’s fingers are quick to tug your lip free, his touch slow and deliberate as he scolds you softly. “none of that” he scolds you. his eyes are dark, gleaming with something dangerous and thrilling. “be as loud as you want”. he encourages you, his voice a soft command and laced with amusement.
L is unable to tear his eyes away from the screen. his eyes darkening as you writhe beneath light’s touch. he’s captivated, though he’ll never admit it, by the way light manipulates the situation, by the way the lines between pleasure and surveillance blur. he tells himself it’s all part of the investigation, but deep down, he knows there’s more to it.
a shiver runs down your spine, the thought of l hearing everything making your heart race even more. the thrill is undeniable, and light can sense it in the way your body tightens around him. his hand slips between your thighs, his thumb finding your sensitive clit. you jump at his touch and mewl at the feeling of stimulation.
“there you go” light hums, his smirk widening as he admires your reaction. “that’s better”.
he sets a punishing pace, every movement calculated to push you closer to your release. your body trembles beneath him, the tension building higher with each thrust, and you can’t hold back anymore. the moans you tried to stifle before spill from your lips freely now, filling the room with sounds of pleasure as light’s fingers work you expertly.
L's breath catches in his throat as he watches you come undone, his fingers tightening around the edge of the desk. deep down, he knows there’s more to it. light is toying with him, playing with the boundaries of power and control in ways l hadn’t anticipated.
“lighttt” you moan out. you can feel the coil inside you tightening, ready to snap. your cries echo through the room as light’s name spills from your lips.
“nnghh” you draw you as your head tilts back and eyes flutter shut.. light’s lips curl into a satisfied smile, knowing that L is hearing every little sound you make, seeing how easily he can reduce you to this. he leans down, kissing along your neck, his pace never faltering.
“you like this, don’t you?” he whispers against your skin, his voice teasing, but there’s a sharp edge to it. “knowing he’s watching. knowing that you can’t hide how much you’re enjoying this”.
you squirm beneath him, your hands gripping at him as his words fuel you. he’s right—there’s a part of you that likes it, that enjoys the thought of someone watching, someone seeing the way light has you completely under his spell.
“you’re going to scream for me” he whispers, his voice low and commanding. “i want him to hear every second of this. he needs to know exactly how i make you feel”.
you can’t hold back. the coil inside you tightens as light’s movements quicken, his touch relentless. your legs shake and the sounds you’ve been holding back escape freely now, filling the room as light pushes you over the edge. you're completely at his mercy.
light's pace quickens, his control faltering just slightly as his own pleasure builds, but his focus remains on you—on making sure you’re completely undone beneath him before he cums. his lips find yours again, swallowing your moans, and when he pulls back, his voice is dark with satisfaction.
“good girl. did so well for me” he says breathlessly. he pulls out of you and you immediately feel sleepy, cuddling into his chest as you catch your breath. as the afterglow settles in, you cuddle against light’s chest, your body exhausted and satisfied. he strokes your arm with his fingertips, a mischievous smile growing as he thinks of his situation. despite all his efforts, L still has nothing on him.
The Kiss of Death
L Lawliet x Reader Genre: awkard cute fluff with everyone's favorite detective
Description: On the ongoing mission to take Kira down, L and Y/N must sacrifice their dignity when Light (intentionally) messes up their excursion. A/N: This is pre-cuffed L and Light era btw! And f/n = fake name.
Kira is still on the loose taking innocent people lives and with no concrete evidence to the existence of the “Death Note” or “Shinigami’s” Lawliet was put into a corner. He was 98% sure that Light Yagami was Kira purely based on vibes but nothing else that serves as evidence has worked. Close surveillance in his house has been a little useful but he hasn’t cracked him just yet. Light was good. Too good.
After ruthless nights of arguing Watari thought it would be a good idea to call in reinforcements from the infamous Wammy House where L was raised. Those reinforcements were you. You’ve never been to Japan before but you were excited to help an old friend. With an IQ of 150 and cunning eye for detail you would be a great asset to the task force. Once he find out you were on your way L sent you a file with all the information he found along with a detailed list of all the task force members. You got everything you need to know but you hate that fake name he came up with.
When you got off the private jet Watari sent you, Matsuda and Light were waiting for you at the end of the stairs.
“So he sent the killer right to me. Interesting” You thought. You took a good look of Matsuda. He was a good man, socially awkward, probably a bit annoying, but a good cop. He fidgeted with his fingers the more you looked at him. Meanwhile Light didn’t seem bothered at all. He stared right back but not at you. It was like he was staring deep within your soul and if you weren’t paying attention you would have missed the tiny smile fighting to break out. He was definitely up to something but what?
Taking off your sunglasses you walked down the stairs and offered your hand out to Matsuda who held it like a fragile piece of of fine china. He raised it up and kissed it which wasn’t something you were expecting but flattered either way.
“Enchante, I’m f/n” You offered your hand to Light as well to which he firmly shook for a second and let go. You can tell a lot about a person by the way they greet you. Matsuda was ever the gentlemen who might be confused of your customs but has good intentions. Light shook your hand like a man trying to prove himself. He wanted you to think he saw you as an equal when that couldn't be farther than the dark truth that lie beneath. This case is going to be good.
“I’d like to speak to Ryuzaki alone if that’s okay. “ You asked the task force after meeting everyone officially. Watari escorted them all out leaving you and your sugar fiend friend alone. For a moment you sat in silence until it felt safe to speak.
“Lawliet”
“It’s Ryuzaki”
“I’m not calling you that.”
“Then you put me at risk f/n.” You roll your eyes at the way he refuses to use your real name. You were alone after all.
“How could I put you at risk when we both know that Kira is Light?” You put your cup of tea up to him and he puts three sugar cubes in there. At the Wammy House, every child had their thing and yours is tea which goes perfectly with cake hence the beautiful friendship you have with Lawliet now.
“So you believe me?”
“Have I ever been wrong?”
“Well-
“Other than that.” You took a sip.
“I know it’s him. I need evidence. That’s why you’re here f/n”
“Does anybody other than Watari and I know you’re real name?” He shook his head no. Perfect. A plan was brewing.
Weeks go by and you get to know everyone. Sadly the result was still the same. Light was definetly Kira but he had help. Originally you thought his father was in on it but after personally interrogating him it became clear that Soichiro Yagami did not know or even consider that his son could be a criminal nonetheless a cold blooded killer. Lights girlfriend Misa Amane on the other hand only pretended to be a bimbo everyone thought she was. If she wasn’t so head over heels over Light she might have been a great force to be reckoned with. Unfortunately, the charismatic cult-like charms of Light got to her before then. She's the perfect fall person if things went south for him. There’s was another accomplice helping Light get away with his crimes but his identify has been tough to crack. You’ve searched for people under the name Ryuk and haven’t found anything so far. Looking back at the early surveillance tapes of Light in his room it did look like he was trying hard to ignore something on his mind. Could it have been someone there? Someone the camera didn’t catch? Is this the power of a shinigami?
Another day with the task force trying to find all the things in common with Kira's victims besides how they die you turn to genius next to you.
“Ryuzaki?”
“Yes f/n”
“Let’s go out” Matsuda almost choked on his spit making you burst into a laughing fit. Lawliet was not amused.
“I assume you mean all of us?” He says not even sparing you a glance as you teasingly look at him.
“Of course. What else would I mean? A day off would be nice right boys?” You look at the rest of the men who are relieved to hear that except Light. Just like Lawliet, he didn't look too amused. You smirk as you take a sip of tea.
“You did that on purpose” Lawliet mumbled
“You love it.” You whispered before turning around in your spinny wheelchair. Stretching your arms before you do a big clap that makes the whole task force except Light and Lawliet jump. You smile.
"So who wants to go on a little excursion tomorrow? I'm sure Kira wouldn't mind if we didn't hunt them for a day. "
"Until they kill someone else." Light claims
"And then I'll know it's you," Lawliet says. The two stare menacingly at each other.
"Let's not point any fingers. Light is still not 100% in the clear yet but he's also a part of the team. It could be Matsuda for all we know" Your innocent joke lightened the mood making all the men chuckle to themselves. Little did they know they were all pawns in your game.
"Yes... matter of fact Light why don't you set up an excursion for us? I'm sure you have friends that travel locally and if you're not Kira nothing will go wrong and Ryuzaki can relax. Right?" You suggest.
"And if you are I'll have the pleasure of putting you behind bars."
"Fine. If that's what it takes." Light says. The familiar tugging at his lips starts but they never go into full bloom as if he's trying to hide it. Tomorrow you're finally going to find out what his game is and who he's playing it with.
Later that night when you were alone drinking tea while Lawliet ate cake the two of you discussed all the possible mistakes Light could make to prove he's Kira to everyone. Killing someone would be too obvious but he could make it look like an accident or even frame another person on the task force so that was possibility number one. Possibility number two is he finds a way to get Misa alone to do his bidding. That would be the easiest thing to do to get him out of the clear for everyone else but not the two of you since you know she's his accomplice. To prevent that from happening, you'll have Matsuda or Soichiro keep a close eye on her the entire excursion. There was another possibility that you didn't bring up on purpose. This was because if Lawliet knew he would be totally against it seeing as it would put him at risk but you realized the unusual pattern of all Kira's victims a long time ago. They all die of a heart attack, most have some kind a criminal record of some kind or they know Kira true identity before they die. Most importantly Kira's victims full name are always on public record except the one he wants to kill the most which sparked an idea. What if you gave Light L's real name? Would he try to use it? Most importantly would it work? Along with Mello and Near you were raised with Lawliet but there is the possibility that even the name you became fond of calling him wasn’t real. Deep inside you know he wouldn’t lie to you. He can’t.
The next day Light had arranged a day in Kamakura full of fun outside excursions everyone on the task force except Lawliet appreciated. To annoy him even more the disguise you chose to display was his wife. You knew if this plan was gonna work he couldn’t look like Lights stalker the way he focuses in on him and you two work better as a team so splitting up wasn’t an option. In case Light isn’t Kira (which is highly unlikely) and Kira manages to strike while you’re out Watari is at home monitoring local crime. Keeping a close eye on Light’s reactions you wrap your arm around Lawliet giving him a supportive pat. Light face remain stoic.
“See? Kira wouldn’t kill us in the middle of a crowded area like this. “ Matsuda happily claims as he holds up his oversized binoculars to look at The Great Buddha.
“In a crowd like this no one would notice anyway.” Lawliet mumbles.
“Oh don’t be such a hermit! You loved playing outside with me when we were children.” You say trying to gauge the boys but to your surprise the only one who asked was-
“Ryuzaki and f/n grew up together?!” Misa acts surprised. Oh to peak into her little mind.
“I was studying human interaction”
“Whatever helps you sleep at night dear” You kiss his cheek before dragging him by hand along and joining Matsuda ahead as he excitedly leads the pack.
“Is it me or is f/n enjoying her role a little too much?” Kanzo whispers to Soichiro who shrugs.
“We’ve been working hard the past few weeks. I’m sure she’s just having a little fun besides I don’t think it’s exactly one-sided.” Soichiro chuckles
Throughout the day the seven of you walk around every shrine, zen garden, and temple you can get close to while remaining a safe distance from Light and Misa who didn’t seem to be plotting anything just yet. Just two teenagers who might be serial killers without a care in the world. Lawliet grew frustrated.
“F/N”
“Yes, dear?” You tease but can’t help it when his cheeks turn a rosy red for a second.
“When exactly is this plan of yours supposed to start?”
“Patience honey all will make sense soon” You whisper seductively in Lawliets ear pulling him in to your embrace wrapping your arms around his neck. Begrudgingly knowing his role Lawliet wraps his arms around your waist in reciprocation. You notice Light staring at the two of you. From where he’s standing it looks as if you two are sharing secrets. He tries to hide his look of suspicion when you make eye contact but it’s too late. Like a spider you’ve spun him in your web making him helplessly anxious and maybe even frightened. Unable to contain it you smirk at him
“That’s right. You should be afraid” You whisper still in Lawliet’s embrace. For the first time all day he chuckles.
“If I didn’t know any better you’re turned on right now y/n” He whispers in your ear just as seductively as you did earlier. Given how awkward and standoffish he can be at times you didn’t know he was capable of that.
“Lawli- Ryuzaki!” You shriek but for a moment his hands squeeze your body. You almost said his real name out loud. Too loud. Did Light hear it? Shit
“Careful dear people will think you’re cheating on me” He says jokingly but you know it’s a threat. No, a promise. While you planned to leak it anyway to see if Light would try to kill him this is not how you wanted to come out. Shit shit shit.
And yet if you weren’t turned on before. You are now. Something about him matching your energy while being so close just did something to you and even though he’s a little pissed off he’s still hot.
“I’m gonna get you back for that”
“Likewise f/n” further emphasizing how pissed he is.
After walking for the majority of Lights excursion filled day in Kamakura the task force grew exhausted. Too tired to do anything else Light and Matsuda called around for places to retire for the night before returning to work tomorrow. Soichiro drove the rental to a spot near a beach, real low key vibes, perfect place for a late night swim with Lawliet. He’d never go for it. The seven of you were to be split rooms. Naturally you and Misa were in one room. Soichiro, Kanzo, Matsuda, and Light in the next room. Lawliet gets his own room so he can have a private discussion with Watari. This was the plan everyone agreed to until you got there.
“I’m sorry we only have one room left but if you five gentlemen don’t mind the hotel a little further down I can reserve a room for you” the hotel receptionist says. Looks like you and Misa are stuck here alone-
“I’ll stay with you” Lawliet stepped up.
“But who will watch Ligh-“ He cut you off
“I said I’m staying”
“Besides I think we can trust Light now,“ Shock was what you saw on Light's face now. If only for a moment but there was shock. Whatever plan there was to kill Lawliet might be dead now but then again this could've been a part of his plan all along.
When the two of you walked into the hotel there was one bed. As children sleeping together was better than being in cold bunks but as adults this predicament was a bit...awkward.
He let you shower and change into your pajamas first but as you wait in bed going over all your notes on Kira a nervous feeling stirs inside you. What if he mentions what happened earlier? What if he doesn't because he has other plans of ruining your life for almost ending his? Is he about to get in this bed with you?
"I hope you're not overthinking what happened earlier." He broke you out of your funk. You didn't even realize he had already gotten out of the shower. "I already gave Light my real name once. It won't work Y/N"
"Then why-"
"I figured if you were going to put my life in danger I'd scare you a little too. Reminds me of when we were kids." He laid down next to you in bed. For years there's been an invisible line between you that you so desperately wanted to cross.
A line you want to cross now more than anything.
"Can I ask you something?" You turn your body towards him but he remains on his back, facing the ceiling.
"Shoot"
"Do you remember when we were teenagers Mello locked us in a closet and I kissed you on accident but you wouldn't let me go until Watari let us out?"
"Yes"
"This feels a lot like that" He smiles as his body curls towards you.
"Are you saying you want to kiss me Y/N?" You scooted closer to him smirking.
"Wouldn't you like to know?" You leaned over him practically inches away from his lips yet he didn't flinch. He didn't move away but he didn't move any closer. He was just there. So you sighed and leaned ba-
"Please" He grabbed you by the shirt and pulled you back to him. He had a look in his eyes you've never seen before.
" In case I die"
"Wha-" He met your lips with his before you could ruin it. The two of you were alone. Truly alone for the first time in years and this time if it were his last Lawliet was going to get what he wanted almost as bad as he wanted Light behind bars. You.
You leaned down into his embrace not letting a breath escape between your lips. If you were going to die tonight it would not be Kira and you were okay with that.
The next day on the ride home neither of you spoke a peep making it seem like you'd gotten into a fight. Nobody really needed to know what really took place. When everyone went home for the day you were at it again neglecting the surveillance cameras and carefully watching Light. If this is how he gets you both so be it.
May the kiss of death satisfy the Gods that be.
Hi just found your blog :)
Can you do Hc of the wammys boys what their aftercare would look like?
Like something you and I would kill for, I presume :')
L:
L would meet your gaze, black marbles lost in your own orbs, stunned by the unthinkable joy it brought him to feel consumed, needed, craved for.
He lets you go clean up first.
His aftercare is mostly a quiet moment, something small and grounding. His hand would linger on yours, fingers tracing your palms lightly as he holds you there, brushing kisses over your fingertips.
“Do you need water?” he would ask, polite, intimate as he scans you. “Or something to eat?” Watari could bring it in a heartbeat, you only need to ask.
Mello:
The sexual heat subsides, but passion always lingers, spilling over even as the moment fades. Mello keeps you close, stealing kisses with a trace of teeth grazing your skin here and there.
He can chat a bit if that’s what you like, his voice teasing, low, velvety in a way that seems to haunt you down.
His aftercare often looks like hot baths— convenient for a hardworking mob leader.
Despite how off-putting it might feel at times, being so cherished as you make him feel, he manages to keep his cool. No matter how busy he is, Mello always makes sure you feel like you’re the only one that matters.
Matt:
He kisses your temples, settling beside you and pulling you close, snuggling into your warmth. After a while, he might light a cigarette, sharing the quiet moment.
His idea of taking care of you often includes water bottles, soft whispers about how much he enjoyed it, and a collection of TikToks he saved just to make you laugh.
With Matt, everything is easy—lazy and sweet, just like him.
Near:
Near loves staying entwined with you for a while afterward, breathing slowly, savoring the closeness he rarely allows himself to indulge in.
He could cuddle for hours.
Near would love if you cleaned him up, and he’d gladly do the same for you. Just lying there, snuggling, sweetly brushing the tip of his nose with yours—it’s enough to make him melt.
★ PROLOGUE ─ you try to convince your workaholic boyfriend to take a break
SMUT, 18+, MDNI
You frowned at your boyfriend's hunched position on his chair, crouched in a highly uncomfortable posture with his knees bent against the palms of his hands and his head drooped in a trail of thought.
"Did you hear me?" you snapped your fingers in front of his eyes sternly.
He hummed in response, not looking up from the huge computer screen in front of him.
"Hello? Ryuzaki?" you repeated. "It's 2am. Bed. Now."
"Hm, no," he said softly. He lifted a finger to his chin and rubbed it thoughtfully, trying to decipher a new clue.
You felt frustrated at his lack of response, but you knew his work was equally important. Still, you leaned in closer to rest a hand on his shoulder.
"Honey, seriously, it's time for bed now. You've been at this for hours," you insisted.
He sighed, finally tearing his gaze away from the screen to meet your eyes.
"I can't just leave this case unsolved, Y/N," he explained in a small voice. "There is something here. Something really, really important. It seems so close to me yet so far away." Your concerned eyes met his tired ones. He continued, "This is crucial for the case. I cannot afford to slack off, and you know that, darling."
You took a deep breath in. Of course, you knew how significant this case was, not just to him but also to the entire police force. But that didn't mean you would allow him to jeopardize both his physical and mental health.
"You can pick it up tomorrow. Your health is much more important than this, Ryuzaki."
He shook his head vigorously and returned his attention to the computer screen. "I told you. I can't afford to slack off. At all."
Your frown deepened. So this was how he wanted to play. Well then, he'd get exactly what he wanted.
Without a word, you placed the still-filled coffee mug on the table a good distance away from him and tapped his bent knees. He raised his eyebrows and confusedly put his legs down. Immediately, you sat on his lap.
His fingers paused over the keyboard. Perfect. His attention was now fully on you.
"Is something wrong?"
You didn't answer, instead choosing to wrap your arms around his neck and lean in for a soft kiss. Ryuzaki widened his eyes and leaned backwards at the unexpected move.
"What are you doing?"
"Forcing you to take a rest," you said, kissing his lips once more.
He blinked but eventually gave in to the kiss. His hands ran up and down your back, knocking the fork off his desk. His fingers went up to your hair and got tangled in it. He pulled away shortly after to look at you in the eyes.
"Is this going to go where I think it will?" he asked, to which, you gave a little nod. He nodded back at you and shifted you so your back faced him, your ass rubbing against his crotch and instantly hardening it.
He slid a hand inside your pants and under your panties, brushing your clit. You gasped, taken aback by his bluntness.
"Ryu-"
"This is what you get for trying to distract me from my work, love," he whispered into your ear, his other hand holding you close to him so you couldn't escape.
His fingers worked faster on your clit, and you leaned your head back against the crook of his neck, arching your back at the blissful sensation. L slowly slid a finger inside you, and you let out a loud moan. His breath was heavy against your ear and his frequent whispers of "Yes, that's right. Such a good girl," and "So obedient for me. So good," drove you crazy.
Suddenly, he stopped. You whined and tugged at his shirt, gesturing for him to continue assaulting your pussy. He shook his head with a little smirk on his face and ran a finger all the way from your hips to your clit, dragging the fabric of your panties down. You bucked your hips up excitedly, allowing him to completely strip your bottom down.
You sat on his clothed crotch once more, anticipating the magic of his fingers on you again. But he merely caressed your thigh and typed something on his computer with the hand he was holding you with. You pouted and turned halfway to meet his eyes and dug your teeth into his neck, earning a barely heard intake of breath from him.
His fingers automatically slid back inside you while your teeth licked and sucked on the skin of his neck and collarbones. L turned you back around to face his desk and brought a hand out to choke you lightly from the front. You gagged, enjoying the feel of his pretty hands wrapped around your throat.
"You're being a naughty girl, Y/N L/N," L growled into your ear. "Do you really want punishment?"
You stopped. This was one of the rare moments where your boyfriend actually behaved this way - talking about punishment and ordering you to be submissive. Usually, he was one to settle down to lazy, morning sex. Needless to say, you were more than happy to accommodate his current desire. You nodded furiously.
L smiled before putting a hand in front of your face, covering it as if shielding it from something. Out of the blue, he stood up a little, making you skate forward. He gently laid your head on the desk so that your breasts were now practically floating in between the desk and his chair.
You were still seated on his lap, but he lifted his hips, tightening his grip on you so as to prevent you from falling over. L then frantically yet so calmly unbuttoned his pants and slid his boxers down with one hand. He pumped his thick, hard dick a few times before rubbing it against your pussy.
"Apologize," he commanded you.
Your words were incoherent as you tried desperately to say sorry to him for your behaviour. They were interrupted by loud whimpers and moans of need.
"Ryuzaki, please," you panted, your face pressed sideways into his desk. "I need you inside me- ah! Please, don't tease-"
"I said, apologize," he ordered firmly.
You were leaking now. The liquid from your stimulated pussy was dripping all over L's chair, but he did not seem to care. With tears in your eyes, you yelled out, "I- I'm sorry! Please!"
L nodded in satisfaction, patting your ass proudly. "Good girl. Now, a reward for my pretty baby."
He entered your pussy slowly and carefully. It seemed as if he wanted nothing more than to savour every inch of your tight, wet pussy. He knew your body so well - perhaps because of his detective tendencies. Because when his dick entered you, he immediately swung it around to hit your most sensitive spots, making you curl your toes in pleasure.
He pulled back and thrust back inside, repeating the process for what seemed like a thousand times, each thrust earning howls of praise from you. You were a screaming mess, hands running all over his desk, typing senseless words on his keyboard which you were sure would earn you another punishment soon.
"Ryuga, please, faster," you begged, and L obliged, picking up the pace by raising his hips even higher. The faster the movements became, the louder you began to babble.
He tried to keep as quiet as possible throughout the scene, occasionally letting out a few grunts as you told him to go rougher and harder on you. He smacked your ass once, making you shut up and enjoy him as he filled you in completely.
"Oh, god, you little slut," he said between breathless panting. "How horny are you for me, huh? Not even letting me work in peace," he smacked your ass and you cried out, your moans probably waking up the entire hotel.
L was now pounding into you with all his might, your body practically bouncing up and down on the desk uncomfortably. His dick was thrusting in and out of you and his balls were hitting your clit repeatedly at an inhumane speed.
"Now tell me who you are?" he slapped your ass hard.
"I'm- I'm your slut," you whimpered, trying not to pass out with the pleasure you were receiving.
"And what do you want?"
"You-"
He hit your ass even harder, making you yelp in pain.
"Wrong answer. Try again. What do you want?"
"For you to- to fill me up with your cum."
"That's right. Good girl," he growled, his hands latching onto your hips, and his nails digging into your skin to hold you in position. "I will come inside you now."
You nodded shakily. L let out a loud groan for the first time as he came hard into you, filling your pussy with his hot cum. You moaned along with him, jabbering inaudible sobs of his name, coming shortly after him.
For a while, the two of you stayed in the same exact position; your face pressed up against the table with your ass in his lap. His dick was still inside you, unwilling to let go of the warm feel of your pussy. Slowly, he pulled you by your neck back against his chest and pushed his chair forward.
He pressed backspace on his keyboard to delete the words you accidentally wrote, and, with one hand on the side of your hip even now, continued his investigation, leaving a kiss on your neck every few minutes. As the clock struck 4:30am, you slowly drifted off to dreamland, your boyfriend not paying any heed to your concerns. But you had learnt your lesson now, hadn't you?
