What 2010s Sentai do you think could get a "10 years later" celebration? I honestly think it could be Lupat, since I regularly see Lupat stuff at the top of jp sentai polls
extremely dependent on cast availability more than anything which is impossible to predict, but general vibes at this point in time:
toqger: jun shison and ryusei yokohama are probably too big to get back for sentai these days and im not sure if toqger has the popularity necessary to shill for them the way toei likely had to do to get yamada back for gokai 10, but then again i keep hearing rumblings about boonboomger having toq stuff planned later?? who knows, but really we already had a reunion movie in toq returns so im not sweating it
ninninger: lol. i mean the cast is still very close from what i can tell so they'd probably be down for it but i don't know if toei would go for it since it didn't land critically or financially. they should do it anyway and give me more trans kyuuemon moments
zyuohger: i really can't see this happening if only because leo's actor has been completely off the grid for years now and quit acting entirely. tusk's actor also hasn't really done anything after the show ended and had that whole minor police scandal that killed kyuranger vs zyuohger so i wouldn't hold my breath
kyuranger: this will absolutely happen. they'll get everyone back for it and new gavan will also be there. sakamoto will 100% direct. the worst thing for all of us is that that dipshit subaru kimura will be back to voice whatever new p-bandai bullshit they've got as well as some obnoxious villain and/or side character
lupinranger vs patranger: yeah this'll probably happen. everyone's still acting so far, they all seemed to have enjoyed their time on the show, and it was a hit with fans even if its toys flopped hard. maybe by 2028 they'll let keiichiro and kairi kiss without cutting away (kairi is lgbt in case you haven't heard)
ryusoulger: this will also happen and it will also be directed by sakamoto. canalo will still not have a wife.

I (Like many ranger fans) don't really like the suits in Power Rangers Cosmic Fury. They're kinda bland looking and aren't that detailed. So I decided to redesign them using the Sonic cast as civilian heads.
Including:
Knuckles as Cosmic Fury Ghost Ranger
Whisper as Cosmic Fury Red Ranger
Amy as Cosmic Fury Pink Ranger
Tails as Cosmic Fury Blue Ranger
Tangle as Cosmic Fury Green Ranger
Shadow as Cosmic Fury Black Ranger
Sonic as Cosmic Fury Gold Ranger
I added the chest playe armor from the Kyuranger suits while adding a lightning bolt from the Power Rangers logo. I also added back the line in the middle of the Dino Fury suits. pattern on it. I decided to swap Amelia and Fern's roles so that Fern is red while Amelia remains as Pink. I like the idea of a female red ranger, but I feel like the role should've been given to Fern or Izzy. Not hating on Amelia or anything. Anyways, on the line going down the suits, I added did print patterns on them. Knuckles has a burning sun, Sonic has a blue sky, and the rest have a starry night. In addition, I gave the Black Ranger (Shadow in this case) chains from Kamen Rider Kiva's design. I feel like it fits both Shadow and the robotic arm. Lemme know what you all think of these redesigns.
Sonic the Hedgehog, Shadow the Hedgehog, Miles Tails Prower, Amy Rose, Knuckles the Echidna ©️ Sega and Sonic Team
Tangle the Lemur, Whisper the Wolf ©️ IDW Publishing
Sonic the Hedgehog (character) ©️ Naoto Oshima
Power Rangers ©️ Haim Saban and Hasbro
Power Rangers Cosmic Fury ©️ Hasbro
Super Sentai, Uchu Sentai Kyuranger, Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger, Kamen Rider, Kamen Rider Kiva ©️ Toei and Bandai

Kamen Rider Agito has been a show that I have held in such high regards since I first watched it during lockdown in 2019 when Zero One, Taiga, and Ryusoulger (later Kiramager) graced our eyes with their Reiwa era almost "more of the same" feels but with sprinkles of new ideas and concepts that could write in the stones of what future entries could entail henceforth for the IPs. Kamen Rider Agito struck me hard when I was diving into the world of Rider, un-linking itself from the Kamen Rider formulas (while in the sense making the formula of future entries) and being Toshiki Inoue's take on the meaning of what Kamen Rider is and how the toll of such a heroic can be on the protagonist and the cast's entire livelihoods when confronted with the mysteries of their world and within themselves. When tasked with having the first three (later four) way storytellings of Agito, the viewer has to watch as they intersect or even clash at times. The most interesting one obviously is Shouichi Tsugami's story, which Inoue writes with considerable grace and is probably the best Rider arc where Tsugami learns to not give up either sides of himself for the sake of the other and balance his life as a person saving others and as the man who has to learn who he is as a person. On the other front we have Hikawa Makoto, a failwife who pilots a mecha suit based on Kuuga that tackles the government politics of the dealings of the Unknown and the mysteries of the verse. Hikawa is not the best detective, in fact he is terrible, but he is adorable and his co-workers/friends are so fun to watch plus his dynamic with Tsugami is cute. However, it would seem that corporate still wanted a stock standard Rider protagonist in some form so we get our traditional Rider writing compensation in Ryo Ashihara, he's a bit of a wandering hobo who gets the brunt of rather underwhelming plotlines that are weaker for the greater chunk of the show leading up to his first death. However, after that initial death he becomes a way better character so who is to complain? The Rider and Unknown designs are great, probably some of the best of the franchise. I love Agito and his forms, Gills Exceed, G-3X, and the second half's Unknowns. They fit snuggly alongside Kuuga's designs, and ultimately feels so naturally like continuations of those sensibilities. The one major fumble of Agito is the final five episodes, which feel like tacked on parts of what may have been plans of an epilogue movie of sorts stuck in five episodes of epilogue. This is my pick of the best Rider series ever, period, and I definitely think it should be worth checking out.

I got bored so I started thinking about the importance of the various Summer Movies for Super Sentai since sometimes they can be completely irrelevant and a wast eof time or will be important to the plot somehow and comeback in a way that makes you wish you saw the movie. (Note I have not seen every Sentai with a Summer Movie and some of these are based purely off of my memory since I haven't rewatched some seasons in forever)
Gaoranger: The Summer Movie is fun to see Gao Knight but literally nothing from it comes back in any meaningful or noticeable to my memory
Hurricaneger: If you wanted to see Tenrai Senpuujin several episodes early, then here you go! This one is just kinda there from what I remember like it's fine but it's placement is awkward and they don't even bother to mention Tri Condor appearing in the movie first at all.
Abaranger: This is a must watch for a multitude of reasons, but the events of this movie do come back during the show in a very big way so it's worth watching.
Dekaranger: It's more Dekaranger go watch it for fun. Dekaranger doesn't even have that big of a plot in the first place so this is just a lot of fun so watch it
Magiranger: This expands more on the lore of the world and does some foreshadowing for other stuff in the show but isn't extremely necessary. Watch it if you want to see Hikaru get bullied for no reason
Boukenger: From what I remember of Boukenger, this movie just advertised that the machines 6-10 could in fact combine and then added another Precious that did not really get talked about again
Gekiranger: I haven't seen all of Gekiranger but I have seen the movie and it debuts an amazing mech form that does come back quite often but it's not like this movie invented completely if that makes sense
Go-Onger: The series takes like two episodes of its runtime to literally bring back the movie characters and general plot so yes you do need to watch it
Shinkenger: The Summer Movie toy appears quite often in the show and post series content so yes do watch this. It's good regardless of its status as necessary anyways one of the best summer movies
Goseiger: The Summer Movie toy shows up I think a totalc of one extra time in the series and they don't even bother to reference that it came from the movie like at all its honestly not worth the time
Gokaiger: it's a fun time but nothing that happens in the movie changes or develops anything we didn't already know about the cast and their end goals. (Watch the vs Gavan movie though that shit is fire)
Kyoryuger: The Summer Movie cast, toy, and villain all come back in the main series and while they do provide minor context it's good to know the full movie regardless. It's also just super fun anyways
ToQger: not super necessary since it never gets directly mentioned until a Vs. Movie but this is genuinely one of the best movies they've made and when you watch ToQger along with this movie you'll understand
Ninninger: The most I can say about this movie is that the mech shows up the Vs ToQger movie for like 2 minutes which was neat
Zyuohger: This movie was cool but the mech and general plot I wanna say only get brought up like once for a quick reminder that it existed I think? Also Yamato gets beaten up a lot in this movie as is Zyuohger tradition
Kyuranger: Genuinely I was so excited to see the summer toy in this movie and I could not tell you a si gle thing that happens and neither can the cast of characters cause they never once bring it back
LuPat: Surprisingly yes this is necessary for something that happens at the end of the show. If you know, you know.
Ryusoulger: This is one of the more recent seasons + movie I watched and quite honestly I could not tell you much of what happens in the movie because for as much build up in the series led up to it, it impacted the story so minimally the show does a perfect job of summing it up without wasting the time it took to watch the movie. Whatever lore they dropped in the movie, you get in the show but at least seeing the lore in action is cool instead of not seeing it
Kiramager: Okay technically not a Summer Movie due to COVID but it counts in my heart forever. This is somewhat necessary they built it up a bit with the main villain being name dropped before her appearance and then they reference it in the literal last episode but its not like you're missing much if you choose to not watch it. I do recommend seeing it though for a certain scene. If you know, you know.
Donbrothers: The most recent movie and honestly I could not tell you if it was necessary at all considering the show isn't over but Inoue did bother to spend a whole two minutes to reference the movie happening and a single scene referencing it did happen so yknow. Go for it. I will say it is fucking hilarious and I couldn't breath at some points

I really like tokusatsu but I've never really vibed with power rangers. I think there's a couple of things that get me.
It's focus on expanded universe content, feels like the same vein as comic book heroes, which is something I haven't really liked. There's a constant continuity of multiple sequel seasons and <the morphing grid>.
Also Im annoyed at cosmic fury, which kitbashes the kyuranger suits onto the ryusoulger suits so they can have a space dinosaur season-
Kyuranger is themed after zodiac constellations, with an absurd cast of 12 rangers who rotate in and out.
But no, that won't sell so dinosaurs again.

Delicious Party Precure
This was a very back to basics season. Not that that’s a bad thing; in fact, I’d say it’s almost a necessity for rotating cast shows like this. If you’re a show that relies on following and breaking a certain set of tropes, you occasionally need a reminder/reset season to help reestablish your audience. Super Sentai recently did this with Ryusoulger before embarking on some wildly different seasons, and the last “basic” Precure season was probably Smile from 10 years ago, so it’s definitely time for a refresher.
The Good: Let’s start by talking about characters. Unlike Manatsu before her, Yui does go through a bit of development, though it is subtle. She doesn’t really change character at all, still remaining a cheerful, helpful girl throughout, but she’s constantly learning the depth of the messages her grandmother left her throughout and that there are exceptions to her sayings.
I was very concerned when they showed off that Kome-Kome could transform into a baby, but luckily that only lasted a few episodes before she started growing up, and she definitely matured emotionally as well as physically. She was also helpful in giving a child’s perspective on food, which is nice for a season about food targeted at kids. I particularly enjoyed the bell pepper episode, even if I don’t understand that particular Japanese trope. (Are they just more bitter over there?)
Tumblr media
You know who else didn’t like peppers? Kokone. When they introduced her as someone who enjoys being alone, I enjoyed that a lot even if it didn’t go anywhere. By their very nature, Precure kinda have to be extroverts, so having her be more introverted in personality rather than hobby (like other Precure) is cool. Again, didn’t go anywhere, but still. Then her big thing was getting friends, and after that it was dealing with her relationship with her parents. Her character focus changed a lot, but it was always about relationships. And her final big confrontation about either being with her parents or friends is something I feel a lot of people can relate to.
Ran was probably my favorite this season. I like that yellow has just become the “oddball,” “let’s do something interesting” character. She’s eccentric, overly dramatic about food, wants to be an influencer. I like that the writers actually acknowledged that influencer is a viable passion. Very fun, even if she never went through anything as dramatic as the other characters. The weird thing about Ran, though, is… she’s Chinese, right? Like, they never say it in the show, but she lives in a Chinese restaurant, her aesthetic is “panda,” her costume design is based on a Chinese dress, Men-Men is an eastern dragon, they even gave her a different skin tone than the other girls. The fact that they never addressed it feels like overhead was all, “sure, you can have a Chinese Precure, but you can’t say she’s Chinese,” because of how Japan and China historically don’t like each other. Just felt odd.
Amane is a typical villain turned hero. Most of her story was her coming to grips with the fact that she was evil, even if she wasn’t in control of her actions. She didn’t really develop in the same way as the other girls, but she was also the most mature and was frequently an important side character in other people’s episodic stories, adding an ear or perspective, and being able to admit when the advice she’d give was off. I still think she should have been named Cure Gentle, though. Both a good name, and fully accepting it would put a nice cap on coming to terms.
Tumblr media
I enjoy that, at least once, we got a male hero character with Takumi. It’s kinda funny how important he was to the plot while simultaneously being such a side character in the actual series. He only has one or two episodes devoted to any individual development, but he does have a distinct personality.
And last is Rosemary, who I also enjoyed. Always nice having a major character who’s gay (even if, because this is a kids’ show, they never expressly say it). They were able to show off how powerful he was early on, gave a good reason for his power to be diminished until near the end of the show, and in the meantime was able to be a good source of wisdom for the girls. He managed to balance being both character and plot important to a better degree than Takumi, and I really enjoyed the little speech he gave in the final episode about how important the legend of the Precure was to him growing up.
The more seasons we go through that try being more episodic than ongoing, the better I think the formula gets. The plot this time around was more of a background element most of the time, like previous seasons, but small tidbits were integrated into more episodes, especially as the season went on. Having the enemy generals be defeated and rotate out also helped in this regard, which is a point in this season’s favor over the previous two. As for plot quality, it was ok. The ramping effects of the enemies stealing food was cool, the shots of restaurants closed down (even early on) were very sinister even if we weren’t sure why. Nothing super crazy happened until the end, but it was a good, relatively ramping plot that worked well with the episodic nature of the show.
Tumblr media
Lastly, I thought the designs were neat. Each Precure’s outfit was based on a different type of party dress, the food elements were there but subtle, and it didn’t step on Kira Kira’s toes at all. Also, the fairies were all cute. Always a plus.
The Bad: This series was overall very unoffensive, so there isn’t much to say on the point of negatives. I said in the opening why I think it’s good this season was very by-the-books, even if not everyone may agree. I can certainly understand why that would put someone off compared to something a little more off the walls and story driven, like Go! Princess or Star Twinkle.
If I had to complain about anything, it’s probably that I won’t remember this season too well. It’s fine, it’s serviceable, but nothing really stands out about it besides Black Pepper, who was not a major character.
Overall, it’s fine. Plenty of good, not a lot of bad, but not a lot to make it stand out from the crowd, sadly. As for Hirogaru Sky! Precure, I hate babies, as I have brought up many a time, but the idea of a Precure who actively wants to be a hero is pretty enthralling. Blue as main is a nice shake-up, even if it’s just aesthetic. Yeah, I’m going in with tentative optimism.

Continuation of these asks: 1, 2, 3
The fight between Optimus and Megatron heats up as the Sentai in their strongest gattai and most of the Riders in their strongest forms minus the Saber Cast, Gotchard Cast, Decade Cast, Emu, Shinnosuke, and the Fourze Cast arrive with Ultra Magnus as they start to open fire on Megatron, who starts to take more damage and transforms into a jet to fly away (yes, he is a triple changer).
Tumblr media
But Megatron returns carrying Tokyo Tower and uses as a weapon to fight the Sentai's strongest gattai and Megatron is able to knockdown the Go-Busters in the Go-Buster King, the Ryusoulgers in the King KishiRyuOh, the Kyoryugers in the Gigant Kyoryuzin, the Shinkengers in the Samurai HaOh, the Zyuohgers in the Wild Tousai Dodeka King, and finally throws Tokyo Tower at Optimus but he dodges Tokyo Tower with a jet pack given to him by the Science Squad and the thrown Tokyo Tower knockdowns the Ninningers in the Ha-Oh Shurikenjin.
Tumblr media
Optimus is able to knock Megatron back to the ground and Optimus, Ultra Magnus, the Riders attack him and start to damage to the point of it being severe. Megatron, realizing that he is going to die here, goes into desperation mode and tries to kill as many as possible so it the victory is bittersweet. Megatron starts to this killing spree by killing Ichigo, Nigo, and V3 by shooting them at close range and then flies back into the sky and destroys the Varidorin and Sky Ace, killing the Gorengers and J.A.K.Q. and then flies to the Battle Fever Robo, dodging most of their attacks, and destroys its cockpit, killing Battle Fever J. Before Megatron can continue, he is shot down by the Go-Ongers in the Engine-O G12 and they try to crush him to death with their hands but Megatron is able to force the hands open and decides to use the Engine-O G12 as a weapon and knocks down most of the other strongest gattai and throws the Engine-O G12 at the Riders but they dodge it.
Megatron, realizing that Optimus is distracted with trying to save the Shinkenger from the Samurai HaOh, decides to use his antimatter power but he only has one shot and shoots at Optimus.
Tumblr media
Optimus sees the antimatter surrounding the area where the Samurai HaOh and goes faster but it isn't working. The Shinkengers, realizing that this is probably the end of them, uses the last of the Samurai HaOh's power to throw Optimus to safety and they die, grateful that they were Sentai and happy that Optimus is safe. Optimus, on the other hand is sad that he couldn't save them.
Tumblr media
What are the Riders and Sentais reaction to Megatron using Tokyo Tower and Engine-O G12 as weapon against them, Optimus's attempts to save the Shinkengers, the Shinkengers throwing Optimus to safety at the cost of their own lives, and the deaths of Ichigo, Nigo, V3, the Gorengers, J.A.K.Q., Battle Fever J, and Shinkengers at the hands of Megatron, his weapons, and antimatter.
Tumblr media
....Well, I for one will relish at the absolute RAMPAGE the survivors are about to go on 😈 Megatron's going to wish he died sooner

legit pondered this for like an hour last night before going to sleep. skipping over showa since most of my picks there would be purely "this character would be hot as a woman",
zyuranger - goushi. nobody in zyu has much going on character wise but goushi's few traits of being the semi imposing awkward stern one would be more interesting in a woman.
dairanger - shoji. delinquent-esque girl with a heart of gold....
kakuranger - sasuke. we need more 26 yr old slacker women with no fashion sense in sentai. and a female sasuke's interactions with tsuruhime would be a lot more tolerable imo
gingaman - ryoma. adds an extra layer to the character taking the place of her older brother and feeling inadequate in the role, if we imagine the ginga village as a slightly misogynist society where women warriors happen but aren't as common or lauded & her overcoming that preconception.
gogov - didn't watch much of this one but maybe i would've gotten further if matoi was an aggressive annoying woman instead (i have blatant double standards & would've forgiven her more easily)
timeranger - domon. the mistaken identity part of the honami romance plotline instantly becomes 10x more compelling. and i really want to see the kind of woman cast as a pro MMA fighter.
gaoranger - haven't really seen this one but i pick silver nonetheless. let women be sexy mysterious cursed wolfgirls. my final message
hurricanger - isshu. would fall into the trap of having a female character who's a "constantly deferring to onii-sama" type, which no one likes, but still, let's face it: isshu doesn't have much going for him. being a girl would improve things somewhat.
abaranger - yukito. in a similar vein to matoi, as a woman i imagine i would find her qualities endearing instead of slightly tiresome. and the relationship with emiri would be much improved.
gekiranger - another one i haven't seen but i'm picking purple. (see gaoranger above)
go-busters - hiromu. i think his rude bluntness would make a very charming young lady. and enter becoming a dark replica of her would take on an added interesting gender dimension.
kyoryuger - ian. see matoi and yukito above. not entirely proud to admit it but i would go crazy for ian with the single simple change of her being a suave kinda futch lesbian. (kyoryu counts as a 1 woman sentai to me as yayoi transforms so infrequently)
ryusoulger - koh. no big reason. i just think she'd be cute.
zenkaiger - zox. tsundere morally questionable flashy pirate big sis....
donbrothers - taro. imagine the power that that would have. the clearance that would have.
king-ohger - jeramie, i guess? women deserve to be sopping wet and pathetic and have sexy monster arms.
boonboomger - too soon to say for sure but i'm going orange. a flirty experienced onee-san type... who sighs exasperatedly but fondly over mira being so genki and excitable as she pats her on the head and strokes her hair and she. um. 😳 ok im getting off track here
As another year of "this sentai looks really fun, alas that there's only one girl in it" rolls around, open question:
If you got to pick a guy to have been gender-flipped at the casting stage in any given one-girl sentai, who would be your ideal choice in each case?
Interpret any way you like-- "it's otherwise exactly the same character"/"it's realistically how that show's writer would've written her", whatever
(inoculating this post with a preemptive "yes king-ohger has one girl but no you can't pick Rita leave their non-biney alone")

Toei has revealed that Masaya Kikawada (Kamen Rider THE FIRST’s Hongo Takeshi), Jouji Shibue (Kamen Rider Hibiki‘s Ibuki), Miyuu Sawai (Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon’s Usagi Tsukino / Sailor Moon), and Jiro Dan (The Return of Ultraman’s Hideki Go / Ultraman Jack) will join the cast of Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger.
In the Ryusoul Tribe, when a squire is recognized as a full-fledged knight, they inherit the legendary Ryusoul Swords and the power to transform into Ryusoulgers from their masters. The three childhood friends - Kou, Melt, and Asuna - each have their own master. In order to prepare for the return of the Druidon, Kou, Melt, and Asuna undergo strict training with their masters. Master Red (portrayed by Kikawada) is Kou’s master; though he teaches Kou valuable combat skills, he also teaches him about the importance of the strength in one’s heart and what it means to be a knight. Master Blue (portrayed by Shibue) is Melt’s master; he always remains calm in any situation, gives precise instructions, and he fully believes in Melt’s potential. Master Pink (portrayed by Sawai) is Asuna’s master; she cares about Asuna very much and is much gentler than the stricter masters Red and Blue. The Elder of the Ryusoul Tribe (portrayed by Dan) has a different type of atmosphere to him, he’s like an elder of the elders, and Kou, Melt, and Asuna are slightly afraid of him.
Previously, Kikawada, Shibue, and Miyuu all worked together on the live-action series Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon, which was also produced by Ryusoulger’s head producer, Shinya Maruyama. In that series, Sawai portrayed the titular heroine while Shibue portrayed Mamoru Chiba / Tuxedo Mask, and Kikawada portrayed Motoki Furuhata.

Sometimes I think about Asuna's speech in the penultimate episode of Ryusoulger and it really is one of the best Sentai Speeches about friends and love ever.
It's so important to me that it was Asuna who delivered it too instead of Koh like Sentai usually would've done especially because in episode 3 it's Asuna who ultimately stops Ui from committing suicide to stop her Minusaur. It could've easily just been Koh spouting the typical Sentai speech because he's the red ranger and the default leader, but it's Asuna who delivers it because her whole character really is her immense love she has for everyone on the team.
She's one of the first people to really care about Ui and the other members when they join and wants to keep them safe and keep the civilians safe as well. She empathizes so deeply with everyone to the point when a monster tricked her she went on a huge rampage on it because she truly believes in people and wants the best for them. And in her speech at the end of the series you can really feel that her wanting a life with her friends isn't just about the other rangers but it really does mean everyone including every human, especially Ui.
Even though she's not shown due to her actress illness, it's clear Asuna and her actress really wants Ui with them to the end and the idea of losing them upsets her deeply. Her whole speech to me really reads like everyone in the cast and crew wishing the best for Uis actress and wanting to see her again and the while ending of Ryusoulger is really something else. The series is a bit weird and kinda clunky in areas but whenever I think of it, I think about Ui and Asuna a lot they really carry the show for me and I only wish we got more of them together

PGSM References in Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger!
Beyond casting Miyuu (Usagi/Moon), Jouji (Mamoru/Tux), Masaya (Motoki) and Ayaka (Minako/Venus) in the series, even the content itself included some subtle (well, maybe not THAT subtle) references to the cast’s PGSM background!
I’ve been meaning to compile them for awhile now. Sadly I didn’t notice any turtles around Masaya (Motoki). lol Master Red was more similar to his character Hongo Takeshi/Kamen Rider #1 in Kamen Rider The First, which he is much more known for.
