johnny cage main !!

akiren doesn’t really care about the meta, he just plays johnny cage because he loves the character and how ridiculously over the top he is

even though he doesn’t particularly care about the meta, he still keeps up with all the changes and updates to stay on top of his game; has watched hundred of combo tutorials

spends hours unlocking all the special skins for johnny and makes him wear the most absurd-looking outfits out there

knows literally every special move, crushing blow, brutality, fatality you can think of

in terms of play style, he’s actually a really solid player ; he just can’t resist ending combos with johnny’s signature nut punch but that exact fact is what can make him predictable at times

has some absolutely disgusting combos that take out like 90% of his opponent’s hp and are borderline unblockable but avoids using them when he plays with the phantom thieves to keep the competition fair

he has completely mastered the flawless block mechanic which allows him to take minimal amounts of damage; he never uses it when he’s playing with the phantom thieves and sometimes even lets the them beat him or sets up little handicaps for himself to stop the matches from ending too early (like never using his fatal blow)

overall; solid 8/10 player ; knows most of the mechanics and how to actually use them; just needs to switch to a more meta character

ann takamaki;

jade main !!

garbage player; only knows about two things - 1) how you attack 2) how you block

uses jade only because of her unblockable overhead and spams that single move and occasionally pokes the opponent with her staff

has no knowledge about combos and the crushing blows that she does randomly execute mostly come from random button mashing until the character just does something

due to her lack of knowledge, she can’t take advantage of the the combo opportunities that jade’s aforementioned overhead

overall; horrible player 4/10; she only gets a 4 because some of the others are worse (yusuke) and because her random button mashing sometimes leads to combos and crushing blows by sheer luck (she’s managed to beat joker once)

ryuji sakamoto;

button smasher !! but he actually knows some combos and will occasionally use them when he thinks it’s necessary but can beat most people (i.e the phantom thieves and noobs online without using them)

speaking of noobs, he loves destroying them online

he doesn’t necessarily have a main and can play with most characters reasonably well but he does have a soft spot for scorpion

he gets absolutely destroyed by haru but so does everyone else so it’s not that embarrassing

overall; he’s a half decent player 7/10

yusuke kitagawa;

do i even need to write about him? he’s never held a controller in his life before and he keeps asking joker where the L1/L2 and R1/R2 triggers are every time they play

he can barely land a hit, much less pull off a combo

picked his character based on aesthetics, tries (and fails) to do moves that look aesthetically pleasing

randomly starts rambling about art during matches to the point where it’s incredibly distracting for the other person, i could go on and on

overall; 1/10 player because i don’t have the heart to give him a 0/10 rating

futaba sakura;

mains whoever is meta at the time but has a soft spot for subzero because he was the first character he learned how to play with

knows every character well, she can execute combines perfectly and use move their moves strategically

she has frame data memorised so that she can punish opponents

she’s the only one other than akechi who can actually challenge the phantom thieves

loves smoking noobs online

overall; 9/10 player, she’s good at pretty much every aspect of the game

makoto niijima;

cassie cage main !!

she loves pulling off a good combo, she didn’t think she would be very interested in a game that involved a bunch of button smashing (from her perspective at least)

it was only when she lost to joker the first time and she realised that there was a lot of strategy and execution of specific strings of command that she was truly interested

she ends up learning the frame data for all her main’s moves and most of the combos, she’s nowhere near the level of futaba in terms of knowledge but she knows quite a lot

she’s also very interested in the lore

overall; a 7/10 player and can beat anyone on a good day

haru okumura;

baraka main and by far the best player among the phantom thieves, she prefers characters that just smash their opponents and don’t require intricate set ups or traps (monke brain)

she doesn’t know any combos on any frame data, she just somehow know how to execute some of the most difficult combos in the game

sometimes the person playing against her looks over only to her with a little smile on her face as her character brutally mutilates their opponent

the only person among the thieves who can beat futaba when she’s being serious

overall; a 9/10 player and someone everyone should be at least a little wary of

So I was thinking today that I have this headcanon that Ryuji is a GREAT hugger. And of course he would love hugging his friends, just for the sake of making them feel better.

At a certain point he becomes the one to go to when any of the Phantom Thieves needs a hug, and he'll do it gladly. A hug from Ryuji makes you feel like your skin is clear, your crops are watered, and everything is gonna be fine.

I can totally picture him just opening his arms a little bit and shrugging whenever he sees any of the PT feeling down and them just going to Ryuji to get one of his much needed hugs. He won't even ask or force anyone to speak about what troubling them, just a silent tight hug.

persona 5 headcanons i have because this game makes me insane (affectionate)

Ren and Akechi are both insomniacs

Ren develops a HUGE phobia of needles post interrogation. he pretty much has to stop helping Takemi with her research because of it. doctors visits are a nightmare and he can’t even explain why

Ryuji’s knee would occasionally give out in Palaces. he would try and tough it out until they got to a safe room. once Futaba joined the team, she figured out pretty damn quick what was going on and ushered them to a safe room whenever it happened. Ryuji never put the dots together.

Ren and Ryuji have asked Yusuke to make fake IDs for them.

follow up: Sojiro would be a “i’d rather you drink in the house” type of dad, but he isn’t with Ren purely because it would be a violation of his probation (not like PT shenanigans weren’t but you get the picture)

After Shiho’s attempt, Ann started checking in on everyone’s mental health a lot more often. no one really noticed except for Ryuji (since he’s known her the longest) but he didn’t mention it.

Ryuji and Akechi had a long conversation about Featherman ONCE (mostly cause Akechi was insanely sleep-deprived at the time). it was the closest the two ever got to bonding and they never mentioned it again

Iwai was weirdly relieved when he figured out Ren was a Phantom Thief because before that, he could not for the LIFE of him figure out why a 16 year old boy wanted THIS MANY model guns. did it make much more sense? no. but at least it was a better reason than other criminal activity (as if Iwai didn’t accidentally pull Ren into yakuza business but shhhh)

for a while, Futaba and Ren were effectively fighting for custody over Mona. They eventually settled on a schedule Mona did not follow, much to both parties dismay

Makoto bakes and is really good at it. she’s the designated baker for everyone’s birthday

Haru will frequently mention something she’s done that seems benign to her, only to be met with stares of disbelief from everyone else (she forgets she’s rich)

follow up: Haru will also say the most batshit thing in the sweetest voice that throws EVERYONE off.

double follow up: she’s the only Phantom Thief Akechi is even close to genuinely afraid of (scary Haru my beloved 🫶)

when Futaba got access to Akechi’s phone, she would occasionally just fuck with small settings for funsies. it caused Akechi so much distress at such a bad time

Futaba also has a backup of Ren and Akechi’s text messages to use as blackmail later.

Why the Phantom Thieves are banned from Dave & Buster’s

(Don’t take these too seriously, I’m just shitposting with no serious thought or edits)

Makoto: Roundhouse kicked a 40-year-old guy who tried to hit on Futaba and sent him to the ER

Futaba: Hacked the speakers and played unhinged nightcore dubstep remixes, was asked to stop, and proceeded to bass boost them

Akechi: Was one point away from setting the record on their DDR machine before he fucked up and proceeded to punch the screen hard enough to break it

Haru: Got WAY too into a game of laser tag, several children left crying

Ryuji: You know that one clip of the dude letting go of the bowling ball way too late and hitting the ceiling and breaking the sprinklers, flooding the whole place? That. He did that.

Ren: Used his third eye to play the rigged claw machines and beat their 1 millimeter margin of error, emptying two full machines worth of prizes before being asked to leave

Morgana: Was a cat

Yusuke: Was so appalled by the food that he snuck into their kitchen to prove he could make something more appetizing and more aesthetically pleasing. Got halfway done before getting thrown out

Shiho, who’s totally a canon member of the Phantom Thieves and always has been: Immediately helped Yusuke break back into the kitchen to finish the food. Also befriended a heard of 12-year-olds and had them distract security to buy more time

Sumire: The only one who’s still allowed in, but hasn’t had much reason to go since Akechi broke the DDR machine

Ann: Tried convincing the manager to let everyone back in, which ended in a shouting match after the manager turned out to be an asshole

My best friend and I came up with a stupid little concept for our silly little "akechi lives don't ask how though" persona 5 AU

So you know how middle school and high schoolers use codenames with their best friends to talk about other people in public. Like referring to someone's crush as "pineapple" we were thinking that akira does that but since they already have codenames he just switches everyone's codenames down one in order of who joined. We used a whiteboard to illustrate what kind of shenanigans could ensue

I'm gonna write down everything that was on the board in case it's difficult to understand when looking at the picture

Codenames: Akira - Violet, Ryuji - Joker, Morgana - Skull, Ann - Mona, Yusuke- Panther, Makoto - Fox, Futaba - Queen, Haru - Oracle, Akechi - Noir, Sumi - Crow. The only people who know and understand the codename switch are Ann, Akira and Ryuji and they use it to gossip

The fun begins when we decided to torture Akechi by having him accidently overhear almost every conversation where these confusing nicknames are used.

People think they’re both “violent or monsters” for being abused (ex: in the game Ryuji punches one of his teachers (deserved!❤️) and instantly everyone called him “violent” and said “he picked up violent habits from his abusive dad” (which is not true!! Ryuji is not an abuser!) and people irl do the same with Toby. People say Toby is an abusive person to people he cares about because he had an abusive dad and picked up his dad’s habits to justify saying that. (Not only is this not true bc he used to be in a healthy relationship with clockwork, and loved his mom and sister and defended them, but it just demonizes abuse victims which is fucked up)

Ryuji Sakamoto Relationship Headcanons!

He never actually confessed. It was clear he had feelings by how he stumbled over his words and backed out of saying something, but you knew.

It was you who took initiative, asking him how he felt.

It still took him a bit to figure out how to say it.

His love language is very physical. He can hardly stop himself from touching you in whatever way.

Always latching onto you with hugs, pressing his face against you or holding your face into his.

His fingers running through your hair, or even just ruffling it to tease you is something you quickly get used to.

Kisses are a near constant. Whether it's deep hot and heavy make out sessions, or a quick peck on the cheek before you part ways, he craves your lips.

His touching even ranges to the inappropriate groping or caressing, but never if it makes you uncomfortable. He only does it if he knows you're okay with it.

That won't stop him from staring at his leisure though. His eyes are scanning you all the time, especially if you're in beach-wear or something of the such.

Ryuji is almost always making sure you know exactly how good you look. Compliments are another of his favorite things to give you.

He tries to get you into working out with him. Not because he wants to change your physique, but because he loves it, and wants you to include you in that.

Insistent that you're eating right, he'll take you out to get ramen or sushi all the time. Going on dates with you gives him such elation.

Late night texts will come in from Ryuji. Ranging from the quick "Love ya babe" to the long conversations he'll start, just because he loves talking to you.

He could sit there on the phone with you for hours, talking until his face hurts from smiling so much.

If anything is ever bringing you down, he'll be there. Regardless of what he's doing, he'll drop just about anything to comfort you.

Either trying to cheer you up or simply holding you close and making sure you know that he's going to protect you. That you'll be alright, because he's got you.

He'll always stick up for you. No matter what, he's on your side. He'll chase someone off, or bitch someone out if they dare to make you uncomfortable.

He sees it as his job to protect you. Regardless of what the situation, he sees his ability to protect you as his shining ability. Through thick and thin, he will be there to keep you safe.

WHEN RYUJI FIGURES OUT HE LIKES YOU, he makes it very obvious; suddenly Ryuji is almost always complimenting you, gushing about you— just generally making it very obvious that you are special to him. Probably confesses almost immediately. He’s not very good at subtlety.

MASC

WHEN RYUJI FIGURES OUT HE LIKES YOU, he panics a little bit; he’s never liked a boy before! He isn’t quite sure how to compliment you: is it the same as it is with girls? Would it be weird to call you “hot”? If you’re out, then Ryuji has a much easier time figuring his feelings out, especially since he can ask you for advice! Unfortunately, he’s not really good at subtlety; he makes it kind of obvious that the potential guy he likes is you. Equal chances of confession from both sides; if you’re more anxious, though, Ryuji will probably confess first.

(Not that he doesn’t trust Morgana, or Ann, or Makoto, or, hell, even Joker — he trusts them all with his life — just maybe not yours.)

IF YOU’RE NOT A PHANTOM THIEF, Ryuji wishes you were. To be honest, he thinks you totally could be! But, for all it’s worth, he knows that being a Phantom Thief is dangerous, and he hates not being able to tell you. It eats away at him. He hates keeping secrets from you — not to mention he’s horrible at keeping secrets, especially one as big as the Phantom Thieves — but after Makoto he learns his lesson. (Because, sure, they earned a cool new teammate but what if Makoto had been someone else? What then?) He considers outright avoiding you just to not have to experience the heartbreak of not telling you something. In the end, he can’t — he’ll endure it all just to be with you. (And, of course, in the end, you’ll figure it out. Whether it be through intellect and deduction or Ryuji outright telling you, you learn his secret. He’s relieved, honestly — because after the Phantom Thieves there’s only one secret he could have left: his feelings for you.)

THIS BOY BICKERS. He argues. He likes you — loves you, even! — but sometimes you’re wrong, and sometimes he wants to experience the electrifying thrill of seeing you all riled up. He loves to tease you, start playful arguments, say stupid things just to get a reaction from you — there’s something about the way you get flustered trying to argue with him. His stupidity is only (mostly) a façade: he knows when he’s gone too far, when to stop. He would never try to make you intentionally uncomfortable. In the case that he does make you uncomfortable, it’s always unintentional — and he always strives to be better — to communicate — so that it doesn’t happen again

Phantom Thieves react to getting anesthesia: headcanons from a real anesthetist

Ren: wakes up unusually chatty, thinks the recovery room nurse is Sae in the interrogation room, talks about all the stuff he has to do to increase his social stats

Ryuji: won't shut up about being a Phantom Thief and rats out his friends as Phantom Thieves (fortunately none of the OR staff believe him because they chalk it up to post-op delirium)

Ann: confesses her undying love to the recovery room nurse taking care of her (which destroys Morgana)

Yusuke: wakes up reciting a very long list of all the hospital food he wants to eat, ends up not eating for a while due to having the terrible luck of previously undiagnosed post-op nausea and vomiting (PONV sucks, and known history of it in a patient definitely affects the anesthetic plan. A lot of drugs in our disposal have anti-nausea properties: propofol, decadron, zofran being the most common. But a bunch of others can do the exact opposite and cause nausea: opioids, anesthetic gas, etomidate (which I call vomidate) etc. It's a careful balance of what meds to use and which to avoid, and it depends on the patient.)

Makoto: wakes up alternating between yakuza movie quotes and swearing every other word from surgery pain (a bad habit she got from Sae, who swears like a sailor out of work stress when she thinks Makoto can't hear)

Futaba: takes fore-fuckin'-ever to get to sleep, gets slugged with enough medication to knock out a 100 kg 6 foot tall man (redheads are known for needing higher than average anesthetic to go past the threshold of consciousness and awareness. This is actual book knowledge plus my own clinical experience. Futaba would be a real chore to anesthetize.)

Haru: wakes up throwing hands, swinging fists and feet into OR staff, keeps asking for her axe, has to be restrained to the bed until enough sedatives kick in to calm her down (little kids, teenage girls and big healthy guys tend to wake up violently as the anesthetic wears off. The solution and wonder drug for this: precedex.)

Morgana: makes a weepy proposal to Ann, launches into verbal treatises and theories on the psychology of the Metaverse (which just sounds like incoherent meowing and yowling to the vets)

And for the honorary PTs:

Sojiro: the amount of gunk and spit suctioned out of his mouth before removing the airway device is through the roof (suctioning the mouth and throat is super important during emergence of anesthesia, so that stuff doesn't make the vocal cords spaz out and slam shut, which is laryngospasm, an airway emergency. Smokers tend to produce excessive oral secretions, and if they smoke enough, it can even look gray and brown. Lovely huh?)

Sae: has a low heart rate in the 40s that kind of unnerves OR staff, but that's only because she's very athletic (very fit people can have pretty low baseline heart rate, because exercise remodels the heart to optimize blood output for less work/heart rate. Normal heart rate range is 60-100 bpm, but I've seen Ironman type athletes have 30-40 bpm.)

ngl one of my biggest headcanons for ryuji is that he's usually rlly good at keeping up with his hygiene, health, body care, and hair care, i just draw him with roots for aesthetic points

and then there's akira where it's like boy how long has it been since you brushed your teeth or washed your hair. no put down the eyeliner and pick up a hairbrush. you're telling me you eat curry for breakfast every day?? to the SHREDDER (bath and grocery store) WITH YOU
